Far off, nestled in an otherwise small Japanese town lies the Dark Gate Academy. An institution of tremendous size, the Academy holds a long kept secret. Unknown to the outside world, this unseemly town is home to a tear in our reality. A gate between our world and a bizarre dimension known as the Darkworld. The inhabitants of this hellish world breach this gate and attempt to flood into our reality and spread throughout the world on a regular basis. However, the Dark Gate Academy is home to students of truly extraordinary abilities. The ability to sense the presence of these evil Darkword creatures, and defeat them in combat, sending them back through the gate.

They cannot close the rift between our world and the Darkworld, but the students and staff of Dark Gate Academy have dedicated their lives to using their amazing powers to hold back the darkness that plagues our world, even if it costs them their lives. They have risen up to the challenge and in secret have become great heroic defenders of the world as we know it.

You are Ryoji Shida. A transfer student and delinquent who ended up in the school by mistake, with no fighting ability, but you may have a stronger connection to the Darkworld than thought possible.

>Previously on Dark Gate Academy...
After defeating Oharu and Orochi, you were informed that Settan resides at the top of a nearby mountain range.

“That's a long way up.”

You stand at the base of the mountain trail, staring up at the peak. “So Settan's all the way up there, huh?” you ask, scratching the back of your head.

“Seems that way,” Maro answers, readying his rifle. “If we can make it up there, take him out, then this supposed Endless Night will be behind us.”

“Hate to be a downer, but are we sure that's possible?” Ken asks. “I mean, Settan's much more powerful than any of us, and he's got that Archdemon backing him up... can we really beat him?”

Maro shakes his head. “I'll be completely honest, the odds are slim. We have him outnumbered, but he has us vastly overpowered. However, we do have a few secret weapons of our own.” He looks over to you and nods.

“No way,” you answer. “I'm not feeding that thing, no matter what. It's exactly what Settan wants.”

“Suit yourself, it's your choice,” Maro replies. “As Saki has informed me, you and Alice apparently aren't the only ones to get powers from demons.”

Oh yeah, quite a few of the group are looking quite perturbed about the news broken by Oharu earlier. Rei's extreme speed powers come from a demidemon as it was called. Not quite on the same level as the Archdemon that possesses you, but still a being powerful enough to bestow those kinds of abilities. She's probably not the only one in the group with that kind of power either. Hiro's healing abilities and Sayeka's foresight spring to mind. All three of them are looking disturbed by the revelation that their powers come from demons.

You decide to get cracking on that whole morale duty before you continue on the final stretch towards Settan and approach Rei. “How are you holding up?” you ask, with genuine concern.

Rei, being her usual self, is quick to deflect the question. “I'm fine! Never better! I'm ready to kick some cultist ass and get the hell out of here!”

“So, you aren't freaked out by what Oharu told you?” you ask more directly.

Rei sighs. “You can see right through me, can't you? Yeah, of course I'm freaked out. Not by the news itself... I mean, these powers had to come from somewhere, right? What scares me is what that news means... my illness, the reason I'm coughing up blood, wasting away... it's because of my powers. It's been said that feeding that thing inside you will make you lose your memories, right? Well for me, using my speed is draining my physical health.”

“So, what are you going to do about it?”

Rei shrugs. “I don't know. I can't stop using my powers, especially not in a situation like this! My speed is needed for when we're in danger! I guess it's just a matter of working out when using my powers is really worth the risk.”

“I'm sure Akira will be first to decide on that,” you remark.

Rei laughs. “Yeah, I guess so! Her breathing down my neck can be a pain in the ass most of the time... but I am pretty lucky to have her watching out for me. Uhh... no offence on that pain in the ass comment, Akira.”

“None taken,” Akira mutters, standing directly behind Rei.

It's good to finally have an answer to the source of Rei's sickness, though you wonder why Hiro and Sayeka aren't inflicted with the same, assuming their powers do come from the same source. Hiro hasn't used his abilities to any major extent, except for during the fight against Yamato, and even then it took a lot out of him. That could be a reason for the lack of negative effects, but in Sayeka's case? She's using her powers 24/7, with no real way of shutting them off. It's a good thing she isn't coughing up blood or dropping into a coma... but why isn't she? Perhaps her ability just takes less out of her than Rei's. Perhaps Sayeka hasn't yet pushed the limits of her power... after all, all her visions are uncontrolled and hazy.

“Before I forget...” Shinji mutters, as he approaches you and pulls out a small purple round-shaped fruit from his bag, “We found a few of these in a nearby forest. Lilo was quick to test them against our better judgement. Luckily for her and us, they're edible.

You take a bite of the fruit, and recoil in horror. God, that tastes terrible, like chewing on tobacco paste. Still, food is food, and you work up the will to finish the thing.

“So Shinji...” Akio mumbles, his mouth full of fruit. “Have you reconsidered the idea of me dating your little sister?”

“Now is hardly the time for that,” Shinji replies. “And no... I haven't.”

“Come on! Why not?” Akio protests.

“You'd be a disappointment,” Shinji answers bluntly.

“Yeah, and Shinji doesn't want anyone taking his title as the king of disappointment!” Hikaru retorts.

“Are you still upset about the picnic?” Shinji asks. “I promise, as soon as we get out of here, we'll have that picnic. It's still summer, Hikaru.”

“You've broken that promise enough times already,” Hikaru folds her arms. “It doesn't really mean anything anymore.”

“You know, I could take you out on a picnic,” Akio offers, smirking. “Just the two of us. It'll be real romantic.”

“You really don't know when to give up, do you?” Hikaru laughs.

“Giving up has never been in my nature,” Akio replies.

“I've noticed,” Hikaru fires back. “But you should really call it quits at this point. You're a good guy... sometimes... and I like you, but come on, Akio. This isn't going to work out. I want to date a guy that I can see myself marrying a few years from now, and let's face it... that's not you. You aren't the marriage type. I doubt you could stay faithful to a girl for more than a couple weeks. You were checking out Chihiro's ass about five minutes ago!”

“That's not my fault!” Akio says, raising his hands in defence. “She was bent over in a very compromising-”

“Look, let's just drop it,” Hikaru replies, a little frustrated. “I don't need you hitting on me at a time like this, in front of my brother, and to be honest, this whole game of yours in general is starting to get real boring.”

“But I-”

“Goodbye, Akio.”

As soon as Hikaru turns to walk away, Akio takes a deep breath and drops to one knee, reaching into his pocket and pulling out a small box. Oh... this is going to be painful? You feel as though you should go over to Saki and Maro and discuss the upcoming trek up the mountainside, but you don't think anyone in the group can take their eyes off the coming trainwreck.

“Hikaru Shirai...” Akio states, grabbing Hikaru attention. She turns around and stares at Akio in wide-eyed shock as she see's him pop open the box to reveal a small diamond ring. “Will you marry me?”

For a moment, nobody can speak. Shinji, a usually stoic guy, has completely lost his composure, standing in slack-jawed amazement as Akio makes a complete fool of himself.

Hikaru continues to stare, unable to find any words to say, before finally managing to squeeze out, “Not the most romantic setting to ask that, is it? And when did you get that anyway?”

Akio smiles, blissfully unaware of the many horrified eyes staring at him at this very moment. “I bought it in town about a week ago. I was planning on waiting until we got out of this hellhole before asking you, but you kinda forced my hand here.”

Satomi is covering her mouth, and you can't tell if she's stifling back tears or uncomfortable laughter. Seishiro looks just about ready to faint.

After another long silence, Akio begins to realise how uncomfortable this situation is, before muttering, “You haven't answered my question. Will you marry me?”

Hikaru is quick to shake her head. “No. Of course not. I'm not going to marry you.”

Harsh. “Why not?” Akio asks, a dejected look on his face.

“For one, we're only sixteen years old,” Hikaru answers. “I'm not dumb enough to get married this young. Second, you asked me in front of a bunch of my friends and my brother, while we're all stuck in a hellish deathtrap where we're supposed to fight to survive. And thirdly, and most importantly, I don't want to marry you... and you don't want to marry me! This is just another one of your ridiculous stunts to try to impress me!”

Akio frantically shakes his head. “No, you're wrong. This isn't some stunt! Is it really so unbelievable to think that I might actually be serious about marrying the girl I love?”

“L-love?” Hikaru is taken aback. “Did you just say you... love me?”

“Yeah,” Akio replies bluntly. “I never thought I'd say it before, but from the moment I met you... I knew. I knew you were the one. Look at how much I've changed since I met you! You've made me want to become more serious, more mature, more of a proper man. You're right about something, Hikaru. The game of me flirting and you turning me down was getting boring. Now we're in a situation where both of our lives are in danger, and I'm scared. I'm afraid I might not get another chance to do this, which is why I'm dropping the facade and coming clean. I love you, pure and simple.”

Hikaru stares at Akio in silence for a good moment before sighing. “Akio... stand up.”

Akio returns to his feet and dusts himself off. As soon as he does, he is rushed by Hikaru, who plants a kiss onto his lips. She pulls away before mentioning, “I'm not going to marry you, because that's a stupid idea... but that doesn't mean I don't... you know... love you too.”

There's a little bit of cheering from the group, notably not Shinji, as the two embrace. It's good to know that sometimes these kinds of things can work themselves out without you having to get involved somehow. Still, what Akio said about not getting another chance earlier has freaked you out... you're trying to stay positive and hopeful, but at the end of the day, it's very unlikely that everyone comes out of this alive. You wish that weren't the case, but you aren't naïve. Hell, Sayeka's visions still predict that all of you are going to die... not a future you're looking forward to.

“Well, that was... interesting,” Saki remarks as she approaches you. You realise that you haven't said the words 'I love you' to Saki before... but now is not the time to do that. With Sayeka's vision still fresh in your mind, you don't want to sound defeatist with any 'I might not get another chance' crap. “Still, I think it's time we started to make our move. Looking at this mountain range... I'd say it'll take a couple days to reach the top, and who know's what we'll meet along the way?”

You nod in agreement. “Yeah, let's get moving.”

Saki and Maro lead the group as you all begins to traverse the mountainside. As everyone begins the journey, Saki begins to fall back a little, walking by your side. “Hey Ryoji, there's some matters that concern you as head of morale,” she explains. “Might be good to take care of them while you have the chance.”

“And who are they?” you ask.

“Isn't it obvious just by looking?” Saki replies. “Hiro and Sayeka have been acting a little off ever since that fight with the cultists, and Reiji is still very shaken after what happened. We all need to be in high spirits if we're to make through this, so can you talk to some of them and try to help out?”

“I'll see what I can do,” you answer.

Saki smiles. “Thanks, Ryoji. You're the best. When we get out of here, I'm treating you to dinner.”

As long as she isn't cooking. Saki's one of the worst cooks you've ever seen. For now, though, duty calls.

>Talk to Sayeka

Sayeka is probably your main priority at the current moment. Her visions could hopefully give some insight into what lies ahead on this mountain range, as she'd probably quite disturbed after working out exactly where her powers are coming from. At the same time, though, you're kinda just hoping to talk to her on the off-chance that her vision has changed, that death isn't all that lies ahead for the group.

You make your way to the very back of the group, where Sayeka is slowly shuffling along, staring out into the distance.

“You okay?” you ask as you walk by her side, startling her.

“Oh, Ryoji!” she exclaims, surprised. “My apologies, I didn't see you there.”

“Lost in thought, I take it?” you ask. “I was right in front of you.”

Sayeka nods. “Yes... I was just thinking about what Oharu had said about those demidemons, and lead me to wonder... that's likely where my... ability comes from. I've made note of how Rei was able to push her abilities to the limit, allowing herself to move at blinding speeds... and yet, I've seen what that has done to her. She's in terrible condition... and yet I still wonder, would I be able to push my abilities further. Think of the use they could be if I were able to get clearer, more accurate visions. I feel it's my responsibility to do so, in order to be the greatest help that I can.”

“Are you sure that's a good idea?” you ask. “I mean, you just said you know how bad that turned out for Rei. Do you really want the same happening to you?”

“I would never wish that upon myself,” Sayeka sighs, “But that's not the point. It's a matter of self-sacrifice, and I am willing to sacrifice my own health for the greater good... of course, this is all a moot point, as I have no idea how to focus these powers. If I could, I would do it in a heartbeart, and yet... I don't know how.”

“That sucks,” you reply, scratching the back of your head. “Still, you're pretty smart, I'm sure you'll work it out eventually.”

Sayeka lets out a soft hum. “Perhaps... still, I know one way I can make myself useful right now.”

“And what's that?” you ask.

“Look at Rei and Hiro,” Sayeka replies. “This news has left them... shaken, to say the least. Worse, look at how everyone else is looking at them... they are staring with the same faces they had when they first discovered your nature. They're cautious and afraid, and far too hesitant to speak to them about this. I'm spared from the nervous glances because you're the only one who knows of my powers... and I don't think that's fair. Perhaps it's time I revealed my abilities to the others. It would help Rei and Hiro feel a little less alone in their condition.”

>If you're willing to, go ahead.

Sayeka nods. “Yes, I am. It's about time the others were informed of this. Keeping it to myself has been rather selfish of me, hasn't it?”

“I wouldn't say that,” you reply. “You were just looking out for the others. You didn't want them asking too much about their own futures.”

“Yes, you're right...” Sayeka mutters. “Still, I've already made my decision, and I shouldn't go back on it now.”

Sayeka rushes her way to the front of the group, before spinning around and addressing everyone. “Can I have your attention, please?” She asks. “I have an announcement to make.”

“It better be important,” Maro mutters. “We've still got a long way to go, and I don't appreciate being held up.”

“There is something I've been keeping from all of you,” Sayeka explains. “A... power of mine. You see, I have the ability to see into the future.”

“You... what?” Saki asks, raising an eyebrow.

“I've only ever been able to see glimpses, and I have no control over what it is I see, but it's an ability I've had since we were first awakened.”

“Hang on,” Seishiro interjects. “If you can see into the future, why didn't you warn us about anything? You could have told us about Yamato, warned us about these cult guys-”

“You could have saved Maya,” Raiden scowls.

Sayeka turns her head to Raiden, solemnly. “I never saw Maya's death... I saw yours. I saw that creature swallowing you whole... so I made an effort to move you out of the way.”

“I remember...” Raiden mumbles.

“Yes...” Sayeka nods, “But this is part of the reason I never warned you of my visions. When I attempt to change things, fate has a way of correcting itself. So, when I saved Raiden...”

“Are you telling me that Maya died in my place?” Raiden asks angrily. “Because of one of these visions of yours?”

Sayeka takes a deep breath. “Yes... I'm so sorry, Raiden... but I'm to blame for Maya's death.”

“You're the reason she's dead,” Raiden growls. “You're the reason she had to die?”

“I'm sorry,” Sayeka repeats, “I wish that creature had eaten me instead.”

Raiden nods. “Yeah, I wish it had killed you instead too.”

With that cold statement, Raiden storms ahead of the group, causing Saki to let out a sigh.

“Ryoji, I hate to ask, but...” she begins, nudging you towards speaking with Raiden. The air is tense within the group, as Sayeka sullenly slinks to the back of the crowd, as the rest speak in hushed and nervous whispers.

>Fine, I'll go after Raiden

Saki nods. “Okay, I will. Just... make sure Raiden doesn't to something stupid, okay?”

You sigh as you press on ahead trying to catch up with Raiden. You round a corner of the mountainside as the rest of the group fall out of your line of sight behind you, only to have a corpse-like creature leap out in front you. You stagger back, startled and readying your gauntlet, only for the creature to be downed by a well-aimed bullet to the back of the head. It falls forward, revealing Raiden with his gun in hand, dropping his arms to his side as he glares at you.

“Stop following me.”

“Come on, Raiden. You know I'm not going to stop,” you reply, picking black slime from the creature off of your shirt. “We need to talk about what just happened.”

“No, we don't.”

You sigh. “Raiden, are you really going to keep being this difficult? It's tiring.”

Raiden grunts. “She should have let me die! Or she should have let herself get killed! Not Maya! Why did Maya have to die? Why couldn't I die instead? Maya never did anything wrong! Sayeka killed her... and I wish she was dead.”

“You don't really mean that,” you reply.

“Of course I do!” Raiden yells back. “Sayeka means nothing to me! I would kill her myself if I had the chance!”

“Then why didn't you?” you ask. “You weren't exactly hesitant on trying to kill me when you thought I was responsible for Maya's death. Why didn't you pull out your gun and shoot Sayeka on the spot?”

“Shut up.”

“Could it be that you're not a total idiot and can see that Sayeka is a caring person who was only looking out for you? Nah, that's far too sensible a solution!”

“I'm not appreciating your sarcasm,” Raiden mutters.

“I'm not appreciating your angst,” you shrug. “Sayeka had no idea what would happen to Maya. She saw you dying and did everything in her power to prevent it. There's no way she could have known what would happen next.”

“That's what she claims,” Raiden mutters, “But who's to say what she says is true? Maybe she saw both possibilities and went with the one she preferred? She never liked Maya, I know it. She felt threatened by her beauty.”

“Are you seriously accusing Sayeka of murder?” you ask.

“I... no...” Raiden replies, dejected. “I'm just... trying to find something to blame.”

Well, which is worst, just dying, or having your body being hijacked with your personality being erased?

The Demidemons seem like parasites, feed, kill the host and move on. The Archdemons are bodysnatchers with superhuman abilities. “I don't care about Sayeka's feelings,” Raiden mutters. “But... you're right. She's not the enemy. The Darkworlders are. It's no use turning against my allies at a time like this... it doesn't mean I have to like Sayeka, or apologise to her. She was wrong to step in when she shouldn't have, and I stand by what I said to her. If I could trade Maya's life for hers, I would do it in a heartbeat.”

It's then you notice the tear rolling down Raiden's cheek. You suppose he's just become subject to some very painful memories. “You really loved her, didn't you?”

“Of course I did,” Raiden fires back. “She was everything to me. When I close my eyes, her face is all I can see. You know... by all rights, we never should have gotten along. I was the sullen quiet one, but she was kind, loud and boisterous. Her head was in the clouds, so she ended up in the back of class, close to my own seat. After class... for whatever reason, she talked to me. I think she wanted me to come out of my shell and talk to the others. Her popularity took a hit for associating with me, but she was never bothered by that. She just loved spending time with me... the only times I've ever smiled were with her. I truly loved her... and I never had the chance to say it.”

Raiden wipes away his tear and sighs. “I'm sorry, Ryoji. You didn't have to hear that.”

“It's fine,” you reply. “She sounds like a wonderful person.”

“Yeah... she was.”

The rest of the group catches up with the two of you as Raiden makes his way to the back, addressing Sayeka. “Sayeka... I'm sorry for what I said earlier. I don't blame you for Maya's death.”

“Do you still wish I were dead?” Sayeka asks sullenly.

“Yes...” Raiden replies. “Or rather, I wish anyone else had died in Maya's place. Whether it was you or me.”

Sayeka nods, her expression unchanging. “I see... just as long as we are honest.”

“I... guess that's something?” Saki remarks. “Good work, Ryoji.”

“No problem,” you reply. “It's all in a day's work for head of morale.”

“I'll say!” Saki smiles. “I'm thinking you deserve a reward for all your hard work...”

“Wow Saki, that's forward,” you laugh, causing Saki to blush and panic.

“W-what?! Not that kind of reward!” she exclaims, placing her hands on her rosy cheeks. “I didn't mean for it to sound so l-lewd! I'm not a lewd girl!”

You smile, having her get all worked up like this is one of your favourite things in the world. “It's okay, Saki. I get what you meant. But what kind of delinquent boyfriend would I be to pass up the chance to tease you a little?”

Saki pouts as she takes a deep breath. “Well, we should just keep moving on. You don't have any urgent business to attend to, so don't feel obligated trying to improve morale right now. Just walk along with the rest of us.”

You smirk as you begin to wander along with the rest of the group. Looking out over the mountain's edge, you see that you're pretty high up. Still... there's a long, long way to go before you reach the top, and you find yourself unable to journey in silence. After all, you're the kind of guy who talks a lot, and at this point you have a compulsive need to talk to someone, anyone in the group as you make your way through the mountainside.

Beastmaster Nariko because she's a character that's been woefully ignored/underdeveloped much of the time despite being pretty powerful and coming to the rescue in interesting ways several times along with Daisukitty, I'd be interested to know exactly how far her power with animals works, who knows maybe she could ultimately affect low level darkworlders too.
Failing that Akemi, she's also been something of a deus ex machina multiple times and definitely deserves more attention/exposition/simple thanks.

You haven't spoken to Hiro since the discovery of the source of his healing powers. Sayeka's words seem to have lifted his spirits a little, letting him know he's not alone in his abilities, but it would probably be good to speak to him. Besides, you don't really talk to Hiro enough.

You make you way back to Hiro and give him a nudge on the shoulder. "So... what's new with you, Hiro?"

Hiro looks at you, confused. "Excuse me?"

"I just wanted to know how you're holding up during all of this," you shrug. "A lot of crazy stuff has happened, but we're nearing the end."

Hiro nods as he looks out, his gaze spreading across the entire group. "Yes... I hope nobody gets hurt. And if they do, I hope I can heal them."

You feel inclined to point out that healing them likely means taking away from his own lifeforce as well, but you doubt it would matter much to Hiro. Like Sayeka, he's the classic self-sacrificing type. "That's the plan," you reply instead. "Nobody dies today, or ever again."

"I... I wish I had been there when Nina was hurt," Hiro mutters. "I wish I could have gotten to her soon enough for me to save her."

You sigh. "Yeah... but what can you do?"

"Nina was always so nice, too..." Hiro mutters. "She never gave the impression on the outside, but she was so caring and protective."

"Did you know Nina well?" you ask.

Hiro nods. "I make an effort to know everyone. I knew Nina a lot more than she knew me. Once, I healed up a baby bird that had fallen from its nest. It's mother had abandoned it, and when Nina saw this, she gave the bird a small box to live in, and she tended to it until it was big enough to fly. I was the only one that knew about this, because she wasn't one to flaunt it... that's the mark of a true kind soul."

>You don't have a bad word to say about anyone, do you?
>... I wish I knew Nina as well as you did.

"I can't say I knew her that well," Hiro replies, "I do my best to learn as much as I can about everyone, but Nina was certainly secretive. I learned enough to know that she was a good person, though. Of course, everyone here is a good person."

"Wow, you really don't have a bad word to say about anyone," you laugh.

"Why would I have anything bad to say?" Hiro asks. "I have nothing but love and respect for all of you. Saki is strong and kind, a natural leader. Ken has stronger principles than anyone I know. Nanami is funny, and does everything she can to make people smile. Hikaru is smart and headstrong. Akio is confident and strong-willed. Nariko has a real love for animals, and is very empathetic. Kosuke and Rini are loyal, both to each-other and to their friends. Taka isn't afraid to say what's on his mind, neither is Seishiro... neither are you. You're the most caring person I've ever met. Isamu has the heart of a hero. Rei has a real energy and pushes everyone to become better. Shinji looks out for his class and his sister, even if he isn't fully appreciated for it. Kiriko is energetic and fun, Kazuma reminds me a lot of you-"

"Huh? Who the hell are those last two?" you ask, interrupting his long train of compliments.

"They're in class 1," Hiro answers. "Don't you know them?"

"I don't know anybody in Class 1," you answer. "I've never interacted with them... how the hell do you find the time to get to know people like this?"

Hiro shrugs. "I just do."

"Don't you ever have time for yourself?"

Hiro stares at you, confused. "What do you mean?"

"I mean... you're helping everyone and getting to know them and all this... do you ever take care of yourself? Do you ever do anything you want?" you ask. "Is there a girl you're interested in? Do you have any hobbies? Do you ever just sit back and enjoy time to yourself?"

Hiro pauses in thought. "No... am I supposed to?"

"Of course!" you reply. "It's not healthy to live entirely for other people. You have to take care of yourself, at least sometimes."

"I see..." Hiro mutters. "And... do you do this?"

"Of course it does," Hiro smiles. "Congratulations, by the way. I'm very happy for the two of you. You and Saki make a lovely couple. I guess it's true what they say about opposites attracting!"

Damn, Hiro's so nice it hurts.

"Still..." you mutter, "It's not great to focus on everyone else. Isn't there any girl you have an interest in? You've got to do something for yourself every once in a while. Come on, Hiro... what girl do you like?"

"I like every girl," Hiro answers. "They've all got unique qualities that make each and every one of them special. Same goes for all the boys, too."

You shake your head. Nice as he is, Hiro can be a little dense. "I meant romantically, dude."

Hiro pauses. "Oh... well, I've never thought of anyone that way."

"What?" you exclaim. "How could you be sixteen years old and not think of anyone like that?"

Hiro shrugs. "I don't know. Do... you think of people like that a lot?"

You hesitate to answer, unwilling to admit how many dirty thoughts you've had about people within ear-shot of your girlfriend. "Let's just say it's strange that you haven't thought of anyone in that way."

"Everyone... stop," Maro commands, raising his hand in the air. Guess that's the end of that conversation.

"What is it?" you ask.

"A cave."

Maro calls your attention to a deep dark cave in the side of the current cliff wall. "What about it?" you ask.

Saki places a finger to her chin. "We can't exactly see inside... there may be something dangerous in there... but at the same time, we need a place to rest. We're only a third of the way up this mountain, and most of us are exhausted."

"Quite the issue," Maro remarks. "Should we keep moving, or should we take a chance and rest in the cave for now?"

>We don't know if there'll be anywhere to rest further on ahead. Let's check out the cave.
>Fire off a firework from your gauntlet into the cave

"Ryoji's right," Saki remarks, "If we don't rest here, we might not get another chance. I'm sure if there's something threatening in there, we'll be able to handle it."

"Let's hope so," Maro mutters. "Can anyone try to get a light in there so we can see? Ryoji, your gauntlet shoots fireworks, right?"

"Yeah," you reply, readying your gauntlet and aiming it inside the cave. Before you have a chance to fire, however, a glowing light begins to emanate from within. "Okay... that's extra suspicious."

You fire into the cave anyway, just to make sure, but there's no reaction. Sounds like the cave is empty... but where is that light coming from? Keeping your gauntlet raised and at the ready, you cautiously enter the cave. From the light, you can see that the walls are completely bare, no sign of any traps or creatures. You hear a faint hum that grows louder as you make your way deeper into the cave, until you reach the end. The cave tunnel brings you into a large area, with a lone figure standing in the middle. What appears to be a white-haired man in a mask, standing in an all-black cloak, staring at you. A white orb in his hand is giving off the glowing light that led you inside. You can't see his eyes through the mask, just dark shadows as he smiles.

Rei is the first to get hostile, drawing her sword. "Who the hell are you?" she demands to know. "You have about three seconds to answer before I start slicing you into tiny pieces."

The masked man raises his hand and shakes his head. "There is really no need. I prove no threat to you. I am nothing more than a kind old man. I understand you children are in need of a place to rest. It is in my best interests to provide you with said resting place."

"Calling it a resting place makes you sound suspicious," Saki remarks.

"Everything about him is suspicious!" Ken exclaims, turning his head to the man. "Who are you? What are you? Where did you come from?"

"It is not my business to be answering any of these questions," the man answers. "I am just here to provide you with a safe place to rest, so that you may continue at full strength towards your battle with The Crone."

"So... you know why we're here," you wonder. "But who's to say you aren't one of Settan's traps?"

"Do you honestly believe I'm some bait, some trap set by the vessel of The Crone? How distrusting of you, Stranger."

"I'm not The Stranger," you reply.

"Ah, but you are his vessel, are you not? Therefore you must have many qualities The Stranger desired," The Kind Man explains. "Nevertheless, my offer remains. Rest here, or don't. It's your choice to make."

>We'll rest here for the time being, but let's stay cautious.

"Are you sure about this, Ryoji?" Akio asks. "If this guy's... you know, like you, what's to say he won't try to possess one of us while we sleep?"

The Kind Man shakes his head. "Why would I want any of you? I already have a vessel. One that has served me well for many years now."

So that physical form of his is his vessel? Something that was once human? Was this man a former student of the school thought dead? Or does this man go even further back in time? Whoever he was, it seems he's given full control over to his Archdemon, as The Kind Man speaks entirely for itself.

"I don't know if we can trust him," Saki mutters, "But we should rest here anyway. Some of us will keep an eye open just in case."

"Excellent," The Kind Man states. "I wish you all the best of luck in killing The Crone."

"Why do you want us to kill another Archdemon?" you ask.

The Kind Man shakes his head. "We aren't all of one mind, Stranger. We all have our own wants and desires. Mine do not fall in line with The Crone. Neither do yours or The Dreamer's if I am correct. I feel we can work together here."

You don't really like the sound of helping out an Archdemon, but considering that defeating Settan and The Crone was what you had planned to do anywhere, there's nothing you can really do about this. Before you have time to ask any more questions, however, The Kind Man disappears, leaving you and the group in the cave with the orb providing a warm light inside.

"That's... disturbing," Saki mutters. "It was bad enough learning about Archdemons. Finding out they have their own politics and aren't all working together makes things much more complicated."

"I'm just glad there's at least one Archdemon that isn't trying to kill us," you reply. "Plus, we've got a place to rest for the night... well, I guess when we wake up it'll still be night, because Endless Night... but... you know what I mean."

You sit down on the cold earth of the cave, giving your feet a rest. As you do, you make note of the rest of the group. Saki is chatting with Rei, and by proxy Akira, while Taka looks on from a distance. Rini and Kosuke are huddling together in a corner and making out. Akio and Hikaru find their own corner, as they sit with Akio's arm stretched out of Hikaru, as she examines the wedding ring he bought. As she does, Seishiro, Satomi and Shinji are looking on, unamused. Maro is speaking in a hushed tone with the rest of Class 3. Ken is sitting and talking with Nanami, while Sayeka is being asked a series of question by Nariko and Hoshi. Isamu and Akemi are goofing off as Reiji and Hiro look on, while a meditating Sora speaks to a sulking Raiden. Alice is sitting towards the cave exit, looking out as Chihiro rambles on to her.

You quickly become aware that you're the only person sitting by yourself. You sigh, feeling that compulsive need to get involved in conversation.

"And so the beast looked me dead in the eye, ready to strike..." Isamu begins, "But I told it, NOT TODAY FOUL CREATURE! And I plunged my spear, imbued with power from the very heavens, deep into the beast's heart, slaying it! Akemi Ibushi was there! She saw it! She can confirm!"

Akemi gives an enthusiastic thumbs up. "That's right! He killed that peacock!"

"Yes, we all saw it," Reiji groans. "For the record, it's not a peacock, and it's name was Kujaku."

"Then I shall say I slayed the mighty Kujaku!" Isamu exclaims proudly.

"It wasn't mighty," Reiji sighs. "Not even close."

"Aww Reiji, why are you so upset?" Akemi asks, curious. "Were you friends with the peacock?"

"It's not a peacock!" Reiji exclaims. "And no... I'm a little more upset over my parents being dead."

"Oh..." Akemi mutters. "I thought you didn't get along with them. You know, cause they were bad guys!"

"Yeah, but they were still my parents," Reiji mumbles solemnly.

Akemi develops a sly smile on her face. "I think you need a huuuuuuuug!"

"I absolutely do not," Reiji replies, adjusting his glasses. "Don't even think abou-GAH!"

Before he can finish, Reiji is mobbed by Akemi, who squeezes him tight in a hug. "Don't struggle!" Akemi yells cheerfully. "Just let the happiness make it's way through you!"

"No! Get off me!" an irritated Reiji yells, as you walk in on the conversation.

"Speaking from experience," you remark, "Akemi's not going to stop until you hug her back. That girl's like a vise."

Reiji sighs as he reciprocates the hug. Akemi smiles and lets out a cheer.

"Ryoji Shida!" Isamu booms as he pats you on the back. "Are you prepared for the battle of a lifetime?" he asks. "All of Class 2 and 3 standing side-by-side in the battle of a lifetime! Heroes banding together to slay an ancient Archdemon! Can you feel the electricity in the air! And I, Isamu Iori, am prepared to lay the final blow upon our opponent!"

"Ah, but still no match for Isamu Iori!" Isamu boasts. "That Archdemon is nothing compared to the might of my spear."

"I respect your enthusiasm," Hiro smiles, "But can you promise to be careful, Isamu? I don't want you getting hurt."

"That's why we have you, Hiro Tanahashi!" he exclaims. "If I get hurt, you can heal me right up, with your amazing abilities granted from the heavens!"

From a demon, actually, but it's nice that Isamu's willing to put a lighter spin on things.

"Good thinking, Isamu," you reply. "It's good to know you aren't going to try and hog all the glory for yourself. No matter how strong any of us are, we're going to have to work together to defeat this Archdemon. Remember, true heroes rely on friendship!"

"What a cheesy line," Reiji rolls his eyes.

"What an amazing line!" Isamu exclaims. He pauses, before clearing his throat and practising the line himself. "You may have me in a corner, foul demon!" he yells, dramatically waving his arms. "But you must remember, true heroes rely on FRIENDSHIP! Then that's where you come in, Ryoji Shida, destroying the demon in one punch after achieving your full power!"

You're not sure you want to do that, considering what earning your "Full Power" entails... though knowing that The Stranger isn't on the side of The Crone has put some thoughts in your head...

"Hey, Ryoji!" Akemi yells out, before breaking away from Reiji and embracing you with a hug of your own. "We're almost there! We're almost back home!"

You return the hug with a smile. "You said it. I can't wait to finally get out of here."

Akemi smacks her forehead with her hand. "Oh, obviously! Of course you'd be going! It's going to be so great, Ryoji! I'm going to tell the entire story of what we did here in the sky in fireworks. It'll be my greatest achievement yet!"

"I look forward to seeing it," you smile, as Akemi lets out a yawn.

"I can't wait to pull it off," she replies, "But right now... I'm kinda tired..."

She sits down and rests her eyes, before immediately drifting off to sleep. Man, you wish you could get to sleep that easily. As others begin to retire for the night, you feel a tug on your sleeve. You turn around, to be met with Saki standing on her tip-toes, planting a kiss on your lips.

"Ha, got you!" she laughs with a devious smirk on her face. "That's revenge for giving me that surprise kiss before! I've beaten you at your own game, delinquent!"

"You're starting to sound like your old self," you laugh, as you place you hands on her hips. "It's hard to believe there was a time when we hated each-other."

"It wasn't that long ago," Saki smiles, "But it sure does feel like it."

The two of you find a spot to sit down in the cave, as you wrap your arm over Saki's shoulder and she nestles into you. "Seriously though, we just couldn't get along at the start of term," you laugh. "Who would have thought the two of us would get together?"

"What are we going to tell our kids?" Saki asks. "Well Ryoji Junior, I first met your father when I beat him up for trying to steal from a locker while late for class on the first day of school!"

"You know, I always wondered about that..." you mutter, "Why were you running late for class, anyway? That's so unlike you."

"To be honest?" Saki sighs. "I saw you leaving Akihito-sensei's office before the bell rang. I followed you because you looked like you were up to no good... don't judge me, I was right!"

You burst into laughter. "Miss Kobashi, you were willing to run late for class because you were following some boy around school? A delinquent no less?"

Saki blushes. "It's my greatest shame. Please don't tell Ryoji Junior."

"My lips are sealed," you joke. "Beside, that kid would actually be called Ryoji the Third."

"Wait..." Saki mutters. "Does that mean... you're Ryoji Junior? You're a junior?!" she asks, with excited glee.

"Apparently," you sigh.

Saki's smile is quick to fade, as she places her hand gently on your cheek. "Oh, Ryoji... I'm sorry, I didn't mean to remind you of your..."

"It's fine," you smile. "I'm the one who brought it up, anyway."

Saki sighs as she nestles in tighter, wrapping her arms around your waist. "Still... I'm sorry. I don't want you to go through any pain, Ryoji."

In that moment, Sayeka's words, her relay of the vision she had rushes through your mind. "I've seen Saki die. Many times. When I close my eyes, I see that man in white murdering her in cold blood. I see her reach out to you, only to be cut down. She dies screaming and in pain."

You look down at Saki, brushing the hair out of her face, as she rest her head on your shoulder. "The feeling's mutual, Sak."

Saki gives a small giggle. "Sak? Are you still going to call me that, even when we're dating?"

"What? It's your nickname!" you protest.

"It's a terrible nickname!" Saki fires back. "Can't you call me something like Honey, or Sweetheart, or Hedgehog? Something romantic like that!"

"Hedgehog's a romantic nickname?" you chuckle.

"Fine! How about... beauty?"

"Nah... I think Sak fits you more."

"You're the worst, Ryoji..." Saki smiles. She kisses you on the cheek, before letting out a yawn. She closes her eyes as she begins to drift off into a nice, peaceful sleep.

>I should join her in sleeping.

You let out a yawn as you hug tight into a sleeping Saki and close your eyes tight. You floor of the cave is hard and jagged, and the Darkworld itself is hot as hell, but despite the conditions, you manage to drift off. Hell, you're so exhausted, you could sleep anywhere. As you fall into a deep sleep, you begin to dream.

"Hey Ryoji... Ryoji..."

A familiar voice, but one you shouldn't be hearing. Your vision adjusts, as you see standing before you the figure of a young, white-haired girl in a school uniform.

"N-Nina...?" you ask, not fully lucid, rubbing your eye in confusion and exhaustion. "No... this can't be right. You're dead?"

"And who's fault is that?" Nina asks. You feel the hot tinge of guilt on the back of your neck as Nina stares deep into your eyes, approaching you. It's then that you notice the two of you aren't actually standing anywhere. You're just... present in a black void.

"Nina, I don't know what to say..." you mutter solemnly.

"Of course you do. You want to say that you let me die. You let me get killed in cold blood while I tried to save you, and you didn't even have the decency to remember me when I breathed my last breath. You want to say that you're a monster, Ryoji. Because that's what you are."

You shake your head, and run your hands through your hair. "No... no... it wasn't my fault. That's not how it is..."

"All you had to do was feed him, Ryoji." Nina staggers over to you, as you notice the pool of blood dripping down from a gaping hole in her chest. "All you had to do was feed The Stranger. That was it, just a little memory, and you could have saved me... but you didn't. Was my life really worth so little to you?"

"No... no..." you mutter, frantically, breathing heavy.

"What if my name was Saki? Hmm? Or Ken? Or Kosuke? Or Akemi? Or Nanami? How far up the chain do we need to go? Exactly who are you willing to save, and who are you not? Does it take Saki lying on the verge of death for you to finally do what is right? Is it?!" Nina snaps as she places her hands on you, shaking you violently. "YOU KILLED ME, RYOJI! YOU KILLED ME, JUST LIKE YOU'RE GOING TO KILL ALL OF THEM!"

You jolt upright, your eyes wide open. You're sweating and breathing heavily, as you look to your side. Saki's still there, resting peacefully. You're back in the cave... good. You lie back, kissing Saki on the head as you hug in as tight as you can for the rest of the night.

As the others begin to wake, you rise to your feet. The next day... or rather, the next 24 hours, as days technically don't exist here, are spent doing more of the same. Traversing up the mountainside for the majority of the day, before The Kind Man appears once again, giving you a safe place to rest. He doesn't bother to stick around for any of your questions the second time around... not very kind of him, in your opinion. You try to sleep in that cave too... but Nina appears once more to mess with your head. Saki's quick to note your heavy, blood-shot eyes when she wakes.

"Ryoji... are you okay?" She asks.

You shake your head, not wanting to worry her. "Don't worry. Just some nightmares. I'll be fine."

"I hope so..." she mutters.

You're pretty close to the top at this point. The group should be able to reach it within a matter of hours. You all set out once again, but you are soon stop in your path by a strange creature. Not a monster or beast of any kind, no... but a human-like being with a pale face, a black clown get-up, and a shrill voice. It seems that yet another demon has taken interest in your group's journey.

"What do you want, clown?" Rei asks, her sword drawn.

"Now, now! Why the hostility?" the demon asks, before taking a bow. "You may call me The Jester! Personally, I'm a fan of what you plan to do The Crone? If I may make a request, I'd appreciate it if you tortured them for a few days before laying the final blow!"

"No deal, we're getting this done as quickly as possible!" Saki protests.

"Oh, you want to dispatch The Crone quickly, eh?" The Jester laughs. "I can assist with that!"

"How?"

"Why, it's simple! I count four of you who have been blessed by powers from a demidemon!"

"Four?" you ask. "I only count three."

"Then you counted wrong!" The Jester states, as it points towards Sayeka, Rei, Hiro and... Nariko? "You, you, you and you!"

"Me?!" Nariko replies in shock. It seems those rage powers come from somewhere.

"Now, a demidemon is... quite weak, comparatively. But I..." The Jester wriggles it's fingers, "Can give those powers a little zap and boost their strength tenfold! And I don't even have to possess you!"

"You can really do that?" you ask, raising an eyebrow. You don't trust this clown.

"Of course... well, only one of you! It's up to you to decide who that may be, Stranger!"

>Tell us the twist first.

Jester laughs. "There's no twist! I'll simply increase the potency of your powers far beyond what it was before!"

You shake your head. "I don't know. Still sounds pretty damn shady. I don't think we can trust you not to pull a fast one on us."

"What makes you in charge?" Rei asks, crossing her arms. "No offence Ryoji, but this isn't your decision to make. It's ours!"

"Fine," you mutter, "But do you really want to risk it with this demon? You're already badly sick because of your powers. Do you really want to make a deal with this thing that will make it worse?"

Rei pauses. "No... I guess not..."

Hiro places his hand on the back of his head, thinking it over. "If I made a deal with it... I'd be able to heal and protect you all better than I could before. Still... I would be making a deal with a demon, and I know that's not wise..."

"I'm still confused!" Nariko exclaims, hugging her cat close. "What power am I supposed to have?"

"When you get angry, you go nuts and get crazy powerful," Seishiro explains.

"I... what?!" Nariko exclaims. "I don't ever get angry!"

You let out a sigh. "Whatever Nariko, my point is that you don't want to make a deal with a demon. None of you do."

"Don't be so sure, Ryoji..."

You turn your head to see Sayeka approaching the front of the group. You shake your head. "Sayeka, are you seriously considering this?"

Sayeka nods. "Ryoji... I've had no ill-effects from my power so far, and if I were able to make it stronger... to have clearer, more defined visions... I would be able to see a way that we can defeat The Crone. I could see enough that we'll never be faced with an outcome like what happened to Maya again. I'm willing to take whatever risk there is. If that demon gives me that, I'm prepared for whatever it wants to take away."

"Sayeka..." you mutter.

>Try to talk her out of it.

"Sayeka, you can't trust-"

"I can't afford not to," Sayeka interjects, not even giving you time to speak. "I'm sorry. I understand your concern. But this is a risk I've decided to take."

"Excellent!" The Jester exclaims as they outstretch their arms.

"Sayeka, please don't," you mutter.

"I'm sorry, Ryoji. This is my choice," Sayeka replies, before standing before The Jester. "I accept your deal, demon. Give me my powers."

The Jester cackles as they place their hands upon Sayeka's shoulders, a bright glow emanating from the point of contact. Swirls of energy begin to form around Sayeka, as she takes a deep breath, feeling the power course through her. The Jester takes it's hand off her and smiles. "How do you feel?" it asks.

"I... my eyes..." Sayeka mutters, rubbing her face. "My... eyes... they're burning... gah!"

Sayeka isn't usually one to lose composure, but she doubles over in pain as she frantically rubs her eyes. "What did you do? What did you do to my eyes, demon?"

The Jester laughs. "Why... I did just as I said I would. I amplified your powers tenfold! Of course... that does mean amplifying the abilities drawbacks in turn, but I thought you would be smart enough to know that!"

"Drawbacks... my powers didn't have any..."

"Of course they did!" The Jester laughs. "You just didn't notice them!"

"Damn you, Jester!" Sayeka screams, no dropped to her knees.

The demon leans over her as it chuckles one last time. "Silly Child, my names not The Jester... it's The Fool."

Before you can charge the demon, The Fool vanishes into thin air, leaving you behind with a pained Sayeka. "Are you okay?" you ask, placing your hand on your shoulder.

As soon as your hand makes contact, Sayeka jumps in terror. "Who's there?!" She shrieks.

"Sayeka... it's just me," you mutter. "Ryoji."

Sayeka begins to hyperventilate, the skin around her eyes not just red, but burned, as she comes to the horrifying realisation. "Oh god... I'm blind... I'm blind. I'M BLIND!"

Sayeka is going into hysterics, as you do you best to calm her down. You're so close to the cliff's edge, you hold her close to ensure she doesn't go rushing over the edge in her panicked state. "Sayeka, you have to calm down."

Sayeka struggles in your arms, breathing heavily as she tries hard to compose herself. "Ryoji... I can't see anything. Except... for my vision."

Oh god... that's horrifying. To have the kind of images Sayeka has in her head is bad enough... but for it to be all she can ever see for the rest of her life? Losing one of the group's best fighters is the least of anyone's worries. You hold her close with empathy. As she turns her head in your general direction, you note that she no longer has pupils... or an iris. Her eyes are simply pure white orbs within her skull.

>Sayeka... I'm so sorry.

>Sayeka... I'm so sorry.

"Don't be," Sayeka mutters, shivering and holding tightly onto you. "This was my choice. I... I said I would be prepared for anything the creature did and... I have to stick by that. If my powers can help save someone's life down the line, then this sacrifice is worth it. It... it just burns so much..."

You bite your bottom lip, hesitant to ask. "Can you see anything different? If it amplified your powers... are your visions different."

"Let me focus," Sayeka states, shutting her eyes tight. There is a long silence, until she lets out a strained hum, opening her eyes. "I've seen it. There is a way that we can defeat Settan, but..."

"But...?"

"You aren't going to like it," Sayeka states. "I'm sure you can probably figure out what I mean."

"Sayeka..." you begin, but are unable to finish.

"I've been able to check many possibilities in those few seconds," Sayeka explains. "My powers... they are on a whole other level from what they were before. And through all the possibilities for the battle with Settan... the one where you feed the demon is the only one with a chance of success. I'm sorry, Ryoji."

You shake your head in frustration. Ken steps in to guide the blind Sayeka along as you make your way to the front of the group.

"Ryoji..." Saki mutters, a look of concern on her face. "I... I can't believe that just happened to her... poor Sayeka."

"Next time we find that demon, it's dead," you mutter. Saki nods in agreement.

"We're almost at the top," Maro states. "We're minutes away from the summit."

Despite the hardship's faced along the way, the group pulls through with enough willpower to make the final stretch up the mountain, finally reaching the very peak. As you ready your gauntlet, you look out at... nothing?

What the hell? Where's Settan?

"He's here," Sayeka states, being guided by the hand. "He's just hiding, planning a dramatic entrance."

"Oh, how rude of you to spoil the surprise!" Settan laughs, as he floats down from the sky above, his feet gently touching the earth beneath him. "Here I thought I could add a sense of grandeur to all of this! How are you, Ryoji? Still starving The Stranger? Surely, you must have worked out how unwise that is by now?"

Saki readies her lance as she stands by your side. "Ryoji... in case I don't get the chance to say this later... I want you to know that I lov-GAH!"

Before anyone has a chance to react, Settan points his finger at Saki, a beam of energy shooting out which pierces her shoulder and sends her staggering back.

"Please don't interrupt me!" Settan remarks. "This is between me... and The Stranger."

Settan raises his hands, as a large bubble-like shield forms around the mountain's summit, forcibly keeping out everyone but you and Settan. Settan smirks as the two of you make eye-contact. "Now Ryoji... let's dance, shall we?"

It's time to feed Stranger. We're probably not going to last against anyone on a one-on-one. Then again, we can't die so maybe we could just sit there and make everyone watch us get beaten to a pulp.

Possibly, yes.

On that note, this is the dualtagonist in question. Name's Kazuma (was namedropped by Hiro earlier in this thread) and you may remember him as that Class 1 kid who bumped into Ryoji that one time way back at the school dance episode.

And no, he's not the reverse trap.

>>275529
That's fair, though it should be noted that Player's will only be working from one protagonists POV per thread, and it may not be multiple POV for very long as Kazuma doesn't have the plot armour that Ryoji does.

We already warm the dice and got out of the way the bad rolls, only great and epic rolls, "1st fight againt Kassius" style, remains.

>Bonus Player Question
>RYOJIIIIIII!!!!!
>KAZUMAAA!!!!
This is an anime cliche quest I fully expect a duel like this.
Hell I just remember in Rose Gun Days during a fight section between two main characters the PC changed in the middle of the fight and it was epic and tragic as fuck.

When you said Kazuma I imediately hoped he'd have a pompadour and a delinquent gang.

Excellent thread Booker. I am really saddened by what has happened to Sayeka, but I guess I am happy that she at least accepts her punishment. I hope that she doesn't wallow too much in sadness, and I hope that someone can help her learn to cope and make her happy. She deserves happiness at the very least. Am I the only one that thinks this may be the kick in the pants that Seishiro will get to be a better person?

>PQ
No choice now. Its demon feeding time. I suppose its nice that Settan is sporting and creating a shield. If victiry is well and truly upon us, then I guess we'll have a long epilogue to close it out.

>BPQ
I am excited for the prospect of deutragonists. So long as you make him likeable enough then I will be thrilled to play as him.

Testing dice.

On an important note, from 1 to 10, how much will our choices matter more than our rolls?

>We could get Kazuma hooked up with the reverse trap
There's also a slew of Class 1 girls as potential romances.

Hell, Kazuma can romance the Class 2 girls as well, if you're into Ryoji's sloppy seconds.

>BONUS PLAYER QUESTION

Who had the best Death Flag-I mean, moment this thread?
>>
>>275661
Let's go for it.

>>275671
Akio's proposal and Saki's confession. Like really? Now?
>>
>>275671
Settan when he did the good old "villain harms the love interest before challenging the protagonist to a fight"
>>
>>275661
Time to get hyped.
>>
>>275671
Probably Akio's proposal and Isamu's declaration. They were pretty flaggy if you ask me.

>>275671
As always, I won't choose Kazuma's paramour until we know the cast and Kazuma, himself. But we'll see what others do.
>>
To cover all the death flags in this thread;

>Rei questions when the right time is to use her powers knowing that they might kill her. Death Flag.
>Akio proposes to a girl, confesses love. Instant death flag.
>Hikaru reciprocates love, saying 'screw you' to her traditional values. Instant death flag.
>Shinji watches his sister find happiness despite his wishes. Half-raised Flag for possible sacrifice.
>Same goes for Satomi and Seishiro, who watch their rival/best friend attain happiness. Flags at half-mast.
>Saki says when they get out of the Darkworld, she's treating Ryoji to dinner. First Death Flag for Saki
>Sayeka talks about self-sacrifice, reveals secret to the group. Death Flag.
>Raiden has tearful reminiscing of dead loved one. Death Flag.
>Saki makes a cute accidental sex reference, talking about rewarding Ryoji "later". Second Death Flag.
>Hiro talks about self-sacrifice and Ryoji says "Nobody dies today." Death Flag.
>Rini & Kosuke are a happy couple. Constant death flag.
>Isamu talks about wanting to defeat the last boss. Death Flag.
>Akemi talks about a fireworks display for after they escape the Darkworld. Death Flag.
>Saki and Ryoji be cute as fuck in the cave together. THIRD SAKI DEATH FLAG.
>Saki about to confess her love to Ryoji before Settan springs into action. WHY CAN'T SHE HOLD ALL THESE DEATH FLAGS THIS ISN'T EVEN ACCOUNTING FOR SAYEKA'S VISION
>>
>>275794
I suppose that is quite a lot of flags. Good thing its a 1 on 1 right...?
>>
Rolled 33 (1d100)

>>275794
Jesus, I'm really bad at spotting these, a ton went over my head. Let's hope the dice gods are pleased that Sayeka is blind and they won't try to kill anyone else.
>>
>>275794
Oh come on, assuming she can also hold the flags between her fingers she has space for another 4 flags.

>>275806
Get ready for the "Heh too easy, I guess I'll fight all of you at once" from Settan. Or not, maybe he isn't edgy.
>>
Rolled 4 (1d100)

>>275794
>Saki has 4 death flags
>four means death in japanese
POTTERY.

>>275816
I got you.
>>
Rolled 53 (1d100)

>>275823
NAILED. IT. Guess that perfect run was doomed from the start huh?
>>
>>275816
>Let's hope the dice gods are pleased that Sayeka is blind
Sayeka's blindness was also flagged earlier in the thread, as I mentioned in the discord.

>>273226
>“Oh, Ryoji!” she exclaims, surprised. “My apologies, I didn't see you there.”
>“Lost in thought, I take it?” you ask. “I was right in front of you.”
>Sayeka nods.

>>275823
>You roll a 4
POTTERY
>>
>>275840
It's intentional, I swear.
>>
Im lookong forward to the feed it option.

>feed it nothing and watch someone die.
>feed it a memory
>feed it some memories
>feed it a lot of memories
>feed it everything

How far will anons go to save everyone?
>>
>>276177
If we can get it to feed on our embarrassing childhood memories and only those, then it's a win-win situation.
>>
>>276497
We don't have childhood memories.
>>
>>276513
We had memories of our first kiss. I'm sure there's some stuff left in there.
>>
>>276177
Anons will, if any of them are sane, find a way to win without feeding the damn thing just to say screw you to the angst and shit, keep everyone alive, and get that god damn happy ending. No bitterwseet shit on my watch, man.
>>
>>277004
Considering the rolls lately, its asking to get people killed.

Settan isn't the kind of villian who is just going to futilely attack ryoji and his plot armor. Hes going to target the class with his laser beams till he gets what he wants.
What would you rather have, a dead saki or a forgotten one.
