Thou art a naïve young dragon whom hath just been kicked out of thy parents' lair. After a bit of wandering and wondering without direction, this feisty armoured chap doth shout some very flowery words at thee about handing over some kidnapped princess. Thou knowest naught of this. What is thy name, and what art thou to do?
>>
>>268231
We shall be named Omanag. As for this nosy knight, we should just leave. It's not like we have a lair or gold pile to defend anymore.
>>
>>268231
>What is thy name,
This: >>268236

>and what art thou to do?
We will tell the man that we have been recently exiled from our parents' lair so we don't own worldly possessions of any sort. Direct the man towards our parents' lair instead. Perhaps the one that he seeks is there.

Thou talkest to the stranger with as much grace as thine uncouth mind can shark up.

"Good sir knight, thou art - er, you are mistaken. I am Omanag, daughter of Hvideldarnir and dweller in his lair 'til this morn. He hath no damsel in his keep, and as he is the only dragon who liveth in the Yarrick Hills-"

"I am aware," the knight snaps.

Thou art irked. "You must have the wrong wyrm. Prithee make your inquisitions less, er, nosy, and perhaps I shall-"

"NOSY!? Thou darest mock the physique of a knight of Her Majesty?" The knight whippeth out his sword. "Take me to the princess now or forfeit thine eternal honour, o vagrant drake!"

Know'st thou the sharpness of his blade and the softness of thy belly. What art thou to do?
>>
>>268272
Offer to help look for the princess.
>>
>>268272
Tell him that we can't take him to this princess of his if we don't know of her whereabouts ourselves. We will offer him assistance instead by taking him to the nearest lairs that we know of that is not our parent's lair. Warn him that there is no guarantee that she is there beforehand. If we don't know of any then tell him that there is nothing that we can do to help him in his search.

"Good sir knight, as there is nothing better a Yarricker can do than serve their Queen and as this Yarricker hath nothing better to do, I offer myself as your humble guide."

Anger hath been banished from the knight's visage. He smileth. "Wot'st thou well! I accept!"

He scrambleth up thy side and plunketh upon thy hindquarters, soft from years of sloth. Thou never wast much more than a wastrel, shunning sport in favour of bathing in the sun.

The knight cries forth in valour, "By the grace of God I, Sir Schnepperel of Dudgeonshire, vow to take thee as my guide and free our princess ere she is made to mincemeat!"

Thou cough'st, embers spilling out. "I, er, I concur. Yes."

Thou canst think of a few places to start upon:
Carrackton-on-Sea to the south, refuse heap of the seven seas and the nearest major town to thee.
The Anglian swamps to the west, home to mysterious poison-dragons.
The salt-bitten beaches to the north, where mighty winged dragons fly to from the mountains of Norway.
Swarthingham to the east, in forested country with too many good hiding spots for thou to count.
What art thou to do?

"Sir Schnepperel, the dragon that stole away our fair princess must surely hath fled to the forests of Swarthingham. They are famed among my kind for nooks, crannies, hollows, burrows, holes, caves, and even niches - perfect princess-stashing country. I know it well." Thou neglect'st to mention that the only reason thou know'st it is because thy parents used to drag thee away from home to the forest, that thou wouldst blossom into womanhood with at least a modicum of exercise and social contact. Thither were the good olde days.

"Verily, we ride immediately."

Without a word of warning, thou spot'st something incredible on the road behind thyself, something thou never expected to see to-day. Thy rider turns and lifts his visor.

"'Sblood, drake... I cannot believe it."

Sir Schnepperel unsheathes his sword. "Avast and have at ye, blackguards! Onward, steed!"

He kicks at thy side and thou run'st... away. "Good sir knight, I fear we have no recourse but escape!"

"Gracious, if thy wits aren't sharp. But - hold, o drake! We must go east! Keep to yonder road!"

Thou sighest and circlest around the barbarians. Still they scream at you in their unpleasant tongue, and still they fire flaming arrows at thee. Thou art receiving more exercise in a day than thou hast in a year before! But thy generous meat doth yet attract the horde. Thou fearest they wish to make a rump roast of thee. Mayhap if thou keepest to the eastern road, thou wilt find a solution to thy predicament. Maybe thou shouldst practice thy fiery breath. Or maybe thou shouldst face the invaders head-on and fight like a chivalrous dragon! ...Maybe.

What art thou to do?
>>
>>268961
Keep to the eastern road, no need to waste time on unnecessary violence.
>>
>>268961
Use your flame breath to create a wall of flames behind you while you continue to run away
>>
>>268961
Considering your history of predilection to slothful behaviors, I would think that a confrontation, even with a fiery breath, could end poorly. As such, you should probably egress from this band of marauders
>>

Thou fleest the marauders as Sir Schnepperel shouteth oaths back at them and brandisheth his sword. In time they give up the chase, and thou and thy strange new companion continue down the road to Swarthingham 'til night falls. Thou hast made good time, and ye should arrive to-morrow.

Ye make camp near the path. The good sir gathereth kindling and thou light'st it with thy breath.

Yonder in the firmaments of heaven come the stars. They twinkle so lively that thou com'st near to mistaking the fire's crackling for theirs. After gazing in silence, thou leap'st upon Sir Schnepperel with a question.

"Good sir knight, think you the stars to be sparks?"

"I know not thy reason..."

"Mayhap a spark flyeth into the sky from an earthly bonfire and is born a star."

"Mayhap the Almighty fashioned the stars."

"Mayhap Adam saw them sparks from the sun's bonfire."

"Ho! Methinks thou ought'st to be a poet."

"I am no learned woman. You have never composed a line yourself?

"Nay, I can recite but not write. I have not a tongue of whimsy nor a mind of wonder as thou dost."

"You flatter, sir knight!"

"I speak what I know, o drake."

Silence falleth over thy little camp once more. Many an option springeth to thy mind. Shalt thou suggest he compose a sonnet on the spot? Shalt thou sing a verse with him? Shalt thou discuss thy past? Shalt thou discuss HIS past, his adventures, his... loves?

What art thou to do?
>>
>>273313
Are we... flirting with the knight?
>>
>>273379
If thou wishest to.
>>
>>273313
Remember that this knight is a silly man and you're a dragon. Not only would this sprouting affection be bestiality, but also just plain silly. Go to sleep without saying any further words; remind him that you'll help him find his princess, but after that, you're going home... or to your new lair. You're not sure yet.

Many passions rush through thy bosom. Thou art unsure of what to make of them. Art thou a pervert, or a plain romantic, or simply confused from a weary day's work? Thy tongue feels dry.

>>273414
Thou decidest to occupy thy mind with talk of thy past.

"Truth be told, I have given thought to the arts before. My mother hath a grand voice for song, and I have been told mine is similar... yet I have not sang in - ye gods, a dog's age... Perhaps I should have asked to apprentice myself to her for music, or done anything... anything at all! Damn me, but I have drumbled my scant years away. What did I do when knights came by to slay my parents? I did not even watch them fight and burn, but idled. Mayhap I could have repelled the northmen had I studied those fights. And the state of my fiery breath! Little wonder my parents kicked me from the nest. Ugh... Goodness, I do apologize for boring thee with such patter - then again, I've heard it said that to pass on one's contemplations is better than to merely contemplate. And I am a young dragon; surely I may yet pick myself up and make something of myself. Today was quite an adventure, after all - I suppose we shall keep it so to-morrow and continue down the road, eh?"

Sir Schnepperel is silent.

"Good sir knight? Are you there?"

Thou cranest thy neck to find him smothered under thy weight. Thou must have drawn close in inadvertence! Gracious!

What art thou to do?

Thou rollest upon thy backside with haste, flipping thy friend up onto thyself. He gasps.

"Urch... Thank you..."

Thou panick'st. "Oh, Sir Schnepperel! Goodness gracious me, I do apologize! I must have let my mind stray, and I would never intend to - that is, I can hardly - oh, deary me...!"

The knight coughs and sits up. "Do not concern thyself further. Thy careless mounting 'tis naught compared to the mighty claws of Renexieza."

"Goodness, you faced the scourge of the north in mortal combat and lived to tell the tale?"

"Nay, I simply know her strength from example. She crushed my old master underfoot."

>>284751
"So you make dragon-slaying your business? Did I seem the princess-thieving type?"

The sir laughs and shakes his head. "Perhaps! Still thou hast a certain air of... guile about thee, Omanag."

Thou cannot help but laugh in turn. "So... why art thou such a friend to one like me?"

He folds his arms and sits back, slightly sinking into thy belly. "It took me many a year to discover there is virtue in the heart of every creature, great and small. Thine was quick to show and bright to shine."

Thy opinion of him is changed by this display of humility.

"Good sir knight, how kind thy words for..."

"Yet some beasts art wicked enough to cast away their charity! I hath no doubt the kidnapper we pursue is one such blackguard."

"Thou hast a name to mind already?"

"Verily! A monster I have dueled with many times afore. Whiteldarne, the drake of devilry!"

The name he useth is vernacular, but thou realisest he is talking of thy father. Thy father, whom thou art sure has not so much as laid eyes on any royalty greater than a baron in ten years.

Perhaps thou should'st correct thy companion - or perhaps he knoweth more than thou dost?

What art thou to do?
