Welcome to The Island. Let’s hope you last longer this time.
I’m IslandBro, and this One-shot Quest is a rogue-like, which means I fully expect you to die before making any sort of progress. Read the accompanying menu, and follow the instructions to pick the tools for your survival and the instruments of your demise. A previous visitor has already selected the crossed out options; those are still on the island, and you can find them, but they owe you nothing.
You will wake up on the Island in 30 mins with what you have brought and a metallic collar fused to your neck.
The Island is not a safe place and it’s all down to chance; for every action, roll a 2d10, the first to determine whose choice dominates, the second your success in said choice, anything above a 5 will have varying positive outcomes, 5 and below will mean failure of varying magnitudes. Three failures in a row will mean instant death.
If you die, you die; I stop the quest until I can next be bothered to summon another mortal. No second chances. No second-guessing. It’s go time.
>>
Now decide who you are: name, personality, and character. The last one was pretty pathetic; from the year 2016, an unfit loser named Flynn. I enjoyed watching him get stomped the moment true adversity came his way.
>>
The selection that was currently established was a post by >>259108 this guy. Feel free to alter it by rolling higher than he.

Alrighty then. You've got 20mins to make a post before we go with Mister Champ over here.
>>
>>261640
If nobody outrolls this:
Name: Xander
Personality: Stuck-up rich kid ripped from his comfy life back at home. Not stupid though, and quickly (hopefully) adapts to the dangers around him. Could maybe grow attached to the Drone weapon and talk to it if you need dialog.

>What the hell? Where am I?
You find yourself in a cold, damp metal room. The only light comes through a porthole to your left; outside is nothing but grey. You’re sat on a creaky bunk, and next to you lays some kind of gun.
>Am I still tripping?
The last you remember was that party you had in daddy’s penthouse. One of the girls from the local high school had OD’d, and everyone was shitting themselves cause they had no idea what to do.
Are you in jail? Why do you have a gun? Oh fuck.
>>
Rolled 53 (1d100)

Rolling for Xander succesfully calming the fuck down and getting out of the room

Okay Xander. Time to calm the fuck down. You’re in jail. You killed a girl. Fuck, this isn’t helping. Where’s dad when you need him?
Why did she have to eat the fucking ecstasy? The stupid bitch, she should have known that it was too much.
You start hyperventilating. You need to get out.
You explore the room. It’s empty. The door’s open at least, so you check that out. Oh good, a cramped metallic corridor. You hate those. You swallow your fear and slowly walk down the hall. You find a bunch of sealed doors and a ladder at the end. You also trip and smack your head into the bulkhead.
>>
Rolled 7, 9 = 16 (2d10)

>>261796
Try logically asess the situation.
>>
Rolled 3, 2 = 5 (2d10)

>>261796
Rub your head
Climb up (or down) the ladder
Retrieve gun if we didn't grab it.
>>
Rolled 10, 9 = 19 (2d10)

>>261796
get the gun and navigate upwards
>>
>>261812

>Okay
There is a ladder, and funny maritime doors, and it’s wet. You must be on a ship. Okay. That makes even less sense than jail, did you join the navy? Dad always threatened it whenever you fucked up. Maybe he finally went through with it?
Maybe you should go get the gun, just to be safe.
You wander back, collect the ridiculous looking weapon, and climb up the ladder. It’s the weirdest looking gun you’ve ever seen, but the closest thing it resembles is the sawn-off shotgun you got to try at that shooting range in Vegas.
At the top of the ladder you find yourself in the expansive bridge of the ship. Out the windows you can see cliffs and waves, but you notice everything is at a slight tilt. It’s still cold in here, but at least there should be a comfy chair somewhere.
>>
Something to note; the more specific a course of action is, the smaller the margin of error is. i.e. Less can be set up to go horribly wrong, and we can progress the story further.
>>
Rolled 1, 8 = 9 (2d10)

Rolled 10, 8 = 18 (2d10)

>>261927
supporting
>>
>>261937
<3
Actually its a good plan to work on a single goal and shoot for good rolls.
>>
>>261927
Looking out the window, you see that there’s no way to get to the mainland without hopping over the side of the ship. Only a short stony beach stands between the water and the enormous Cliffside. The bridge is filled with instruments, one of which is still beeping, and there is a door that leads out onto the deck.
Wandering out there shows you the full breadth of just how trapped you are on this ship. There are no ladders, and the whole thing is marooned on the beach. Half the ship is submerged in water, and you might be able survive the jump at the lowest end, but the waves are really rough, and you can’t even see a way up from the beach once you get there. This could be bad.
Things get even worse though, when you hear the rumbling, and see a massive form launch itself from the top of the cliff, straight at the ship. Straight at you.
>>
Rolled 3, 2 = 5 (2d10)

Brace ourselves for impact!
read: run like a bitch
>>
Rolled 7, 6 = 13 (2d10)

>>261989
that must be our machine companion coming by,
take a few steps back and look carefully at what the massive thing is
>>
Rolled 4, 4 = 8 (2d10)

Run inside for cover. Watch to not slip or trip. If you do fall, crawl..
>>
>>262009
You take a few steps back. What lands before you is a mass of shifting metal. The impact knocks you off your feet, but you come out of it unharmed. The mass slowly untangles itself and freezes. It’s like a giant leggy spider, though you can’t make it out all that well, due to the blindingly powerful lights it’s shining in your face. It lets out a roar like a foghorn. It’s absolutely terrifying, but it doesn’t move to hurt you. It let’s out another, shorter horn. It seems to be waiting for a response.

Note: The pics are not completely indicative of what it looks like.

>Um, Hello there. What can I do for you?
The Machine horns again and approaches you. You’re still flat on you ass, so when it gets up close and personal it towers over you.
>Please be gentle.
It opens its… mouth? And a powerful hydraulic appendage slams into your neck, clasping around the metal collar you just now realised you had on.
You can’t breath.
You struggle to get the thing off, but it blares a warning and crushes your arm. You hear it snap and you squeal in pain and terror. Or you would if you could breath.
It finally finishes, and it turns its lights away, and a small light near its forward camera flashes green. You cradle your broken arm and sob as it goes idle and stationary in front of you.

You try your best to set your arm, but it really fucking hurts. You pull out your gun and tell the machine to back the fuck off.
You are surprised when it does. Are you really that scary?
Fuck it, your pissed.
>Stand right over there.
You point to the other end of the ship. It does. You would pay more attention to this, but you’re too busy trying to head back inside to fix you arm. Maybe there’s a tourniquet inside or something. You don’t know shit about first aid, but you’ve seen the movies, you know that a splint or something will help right?

Inside you find a particularly broken chair with a leg you can use to set your arm. You have no idea how to do this but you think that the idea is to stop you arm from moving and breaking anymore than it has. You rip off your designer t-shirt and break the chair leg into two parts; one for each bone. You then wrap the shirt around it and pray that it stays in place. Then you hear something. A voice.
“Hello there. Can you here me?”
It’s coming from the radio. Wait. There’s a radio?

Rolled 3, 4 = 7 (2d10)

You haul yourself onto the chair next to the radio.
>Hello?
“You were able to reach me, fantastic. You seem to be doing well with that machine. You know it yours, yes?”
>What? Look, my arm’s broken. Can you help me?
“I can only help you help yourself. That machine will do whatever you ask it.”
>Including break my arm?
“Well, not now no. It’s there to help you get off the ship.”
>Who are you?
“Someone who wants to meet you. Use the machine. Get off the ship. Find me.”
And with that radio gives out. You can’t seem to turn it back on either. And your chair breaks, causing you to fall flat on your ass.

A bunch of goddamn ghosts are in this thread.

You exit the bridge. There’s the machine. Oh boy. You feel the makeshift tourniquet slipping, so you try to tighten it some more. The pain makes you stumble a bit. You approach the murderbot, and hope that nothing bad happens. Fortunately, it doesn’t.
>Let me ride you.
It honks an affirmative and you hop onto it’s back.
>Take me to the top of the cliff.
Immediately, the powerful hydraulic legs of the drone launch the two of you up into the side of the cliff, and you barely succeed in staying on. You do knock your makeshift tourniquet out of place, causing your arm to burn with pain. Slowly, though, you both make your way up the side of the cliff. At the top, you spy a forest; a dark one. And deep inside you see a featureless face. Waiting. Is that the guy?

Starting to have second thoughts about this... I mean the robot is cool, but we did just get our arm broken and we woke up in unfamilar territory. If we do go to see this guy/girl, make sure the gun is loaded, but do it sneakily.

You whip out that gun of yours, you still haven’t even used it, and ready it for whatever this guy has in store for you. You slowly walk up to him.
He’s really fucking creepy, he has no face; At least he didn’t when you first started walking up to him. You jump back as you see a pair of eyes unfold from his face. They stare at you. What a creepy fucking thing.
The machine has a small blinking red light on it, but you don’t pay it any mind, and it just sits there.
As you get closer your sense of hearing seems to disappear. You also lose vision of everything but this creature’s eye. Then you hear it, coming from inside your head.
>Did you find me?
A buttery sensation fills your head, and the pain in your arm disappears.
>I found you.

where x is the amount of dice and y is sides of each dice
so to roll 2 10-sided dice you would type dice+2d10 in the options field

Also, to add on to what >>263191 said, I'm pretty sure it's case sensitive, for instance, "dice+1d10" works, while "Dice+1d10" doesn't. At least on mobile.
