You woke up with a terrible feeling this morning. The feeling that you were really not that useful. That people would be better off without you. Well let's not be drama queens: it's more like they wouldn't notice you're gone. That's very different, isn't it? You're not harming anyone. Then again maybe your parents are disappointed in you. Not that they pay you any particular attention, but really, who does? You're standing in front of the gate of your high school. The Student Council President is conducting a thorough examination of every student's uniform (bar yours, of course), making sure that the attire of every pupil conforms to existing regulations. As soon as you realize the benefits of not being bothered by anyone else, a familiar face appears and starts waving at you. "Hey there, Hakuno!", he greets you."Yo Kirigaya, aren't we lively this morning?", you reply tiredly."You can say that again! You see...."Kazuto Kirigaya is the only person who seems to notice your existence. You're somewhat conflicted about him. On the one hand, he's a decent enough human being that you might even go as far as to call him 'friend'. On the other, he's only interested in MMORPGs, which makes him unbearable when he's in full 'my-guild-is-the-best-and-me-in-particular' mode. Today it’s one of those days. Apparently he and his guild defeated a very powerful monster, and he is describing in painstakingly accurate details how crucial he was in carrying his team to victory.>Listen to him ramble, you’ll get even with him one of those days>”You should diversify your interests, being too fixated on the virtual world is bad for you”>Write-in

>>252132>>252300Normally all the rabble about DPS, Tank and Healer don’t bother you. But today, you just can’t stand it. Maybe it’s because of how hot it is outside, or because of your mild existential crisis. In either case you really want Kirigaya to stop.“Listen here, Kazuto. This fixation on internet games isn’t healthy. You’re a young man, there should be more than MMOs in your life”.“What do you mean by that?”“For crying out loud, you’re not stupid. If you devoted more time to studying your grades would certainly improve. Have you thought about doing some sport? After all the old saying goes ‘mens sana in corpore sano’. Hey, you’re not even that bad looking, you might even score a girlfriend if you went out a little bit more”.Kirigaya looks at you perplexed.“Tell me, is this the real Hakuno? Or are you rather a clone engineered by my parents and the Student Council President?”“What the hell are you on about? Clones do not exist in real life. Besides, Shizune Hakamichi told you you’re not bad looking? Don’t you understand what that means?”“No, not really”“Kirigaya, I swear you’re the densest idiot I’ve ever met. It means she likes you, retard”.“Is that so?”, he asks, genuinely confused.“You’re hopeless”In any case, it’s not like you’re in any position to lecture him. Your life is just as boring as his, except you’re not even invested in video games. Your critique is perfectly valid, it’s just that it should be delivered by someone more qualified. Maybe after class you’ll talk with Hakamichi and…The bell of homeroom rings.“Hurry up, Hakuno!”, your ‘friend’ exclaims as he sprints forward. You start running to catch up with him, but as soon as you enter the main building, you notice something.Or rather, you notice someone. Fucking wew lads I just needed to sleep a bit. >People already want to pick Caster>Mfw my Caster hates marriage==============You walk up to her and start shaking her by the shoulders. You know who she is, sort of: Aoyama Nanami, a girl from another class who aims to become a voice actress. “Hey Aoyama! Aoyama, rise and shine!”She suddenly opens her eyes and gets up.“Ah…. Hakuno, what were you doing? You startled me”, she stutters.“Well, you were sleeping on the ground all like ‘WAKE ME UP INSIDE (I CAN’T WAKE UP) SAVE ME’ so I thought I had to do something. Homeroom is starting soon”“Oh, I see. In that case, thank you”“You should try to fit into a better sleep regime”, you admonish her.“You’re probably right. But I have to work hard to finance my studies, you know?”Rumor has it that Aoyama left her disapproving family behind to purse her dreams, and now she’s paying the price of that decision in full. Even if she were to fail, her force of will is admirable. The homeroom bell rings once more. Now you’re late.“See you around!”, the girl screams, as she dashes towards the stairs. You start wondering if you should skip homeroom altogether.Tsukiamaku High is kind of strict when it comes to being late, but your homeroom professor tends to be more lax. You are most often on time, so maybe he won’t complain too much today. Or maybe just for today you can take the chance and explore the school.>Get to class>Wander around school>Write-in

And who says Caster here is the Caster from the Moon Cell? I haven't seen anything like that, but people have just sort of assumed, so that's another thing to wonder about.
>>253988Oh, and the question still stands. Even if we never know whether Hakuno has one hole or two holes in its pants, there are other ways for Hakuno's identity to be iffy.
>>254088Ah, do you mean that stuff about there being like three different Hakunos? I haven't played CCC yet so I'm a bit iffy on that stuff, Hakuno is just Hakuno to me. I'm with you on the romance part though, I'm just a little Tamamo starved so I went with what seemed like an obvious choice.
Come to think of it, it’s perhaps better not to risk it. Preparing yourself mentally to be scolded, you head towards your class. Professor Mikisugi is famous for his eccentricity. Scrawny, scruffy, and with glasses so thick you can’t see his eyes, he seems to take the least possible amount of care when it comes to his looks and, well, hygiene. His slight hunchback makes him look even older than he actually is.His classes alternate serious topics with obscure tales that sound like they’ve been ripped off verbatim from some shitty fan-fiction site. You’ve never quite understood his fondness for poor stories with even weaker plots, but sometimes it turns out to be better than studying. For example before a long day, or when your mind is busy with other, more pressing matters. In fact, when you arrive, Mikisugi is so immersed in his story that he barely sees you coming in. This time the topic is the ‘Holy Grail War’. You have to admit it takes some creativity to imagine a conflict in which historic figures beat the hell out of each other, but the professor’s inconsistent narration irks you to no end. Sooner or later, you know you’ll reach the point in which the story stops being an acceptable distraction from your student duties and becomes something you’d rather skip over entirely. As the story goes on, it becomes more and more convoluted. You no longer wish that it’d stop, you rather wish you would understand what’s happening. ‘Man, the sunk cost fallacy is real. I am way too invested in this to simply let it go’, you bitterly consider. “AND SO, FELLOW STUDENTS, THAT CONCLUDES OUR EXCURSUS ON THE HOLY GRAIL WAR”, the professor loudly proclaims, as he prepares to leave the room.‘Huh? No way. He spent the entirety of homeroom discussing this? Quickly, before he leaves, I must ask him…’>”Will this be on the test?”>”Could you repeat that?”>A specific question on the HGW [write-in]

“Professor Mikisugi, a question!”, you interject, trying to prevent him from leaving. “Ah, Hakuno. Tell me, what is it?”“I mean, this whole Holy Grail War… is it something that really happened? Something based on true events?”The professor starts to ponder and as time goes by, you realize your fatal mistake. You asked about the historical accuracy of a certain event to a professor who believes in earnest that Son Goku from Dragonball was a real person. It is pretty much the equivalent of asking your 5 years old sister if Madoka is a real story, or asking Kazuto if his game is more important than his family: in any case, you won’t like the answer. The professor hasn’t uttered a word yet, vacantly staring into you. As you stare back at him, you grasp a firmer understanding of Nietzsche’s quote about gazing into the abyss. In this case, the nothing is gazing into you, and you’re gazing right back at it.Exasperated by this tragicomical turn of events, you decide to settle for something your professor would be able to more accurately assess. “Will this be on the test or not?”“Oh, yeah”, he responds, surprised, as if he just now woke up from a 19-years-long coma. “I sure hope you’ve taken good notes, students”, he cheerfully comments as he leaves the room. Dejected, you start to put down in writing whatever you can remember. There was something about summoning Servants from seven different classes or so, and that sounded pretty crucial, but you can only remember, like, 4 of them. In any case, if you were involved in such a conflict, no doubt you’d like to have:>A Saber-class Servant, a proud knight who wields a legendary sword>An Archer-class Servant, a gorgeous amazon princess extensively trained in the art of warfare>A Rider-class Servant, like a mercenary captain looking for gold and glory>A Caster-class Servant, a beautiful and charming woman able to get through difficult situations thanks to her wits

You can definitely picture yourself standing besides a nimble warrior princess, skilled with all weapons but excelling with bows, capable and wise although somewhat too full of herself. As you fantasize about this, you catch a glimpse of your friend Kirigaya bolting for the door, probably in pursuit of the professor. That wouldn’t be too implausible. Chances are he didn’t do a good job at taking notes and he’s now looking for a cheap way out rather than just borrowing someone else’s notebook. “Geez, Kazuto, I could have lent you mine”, you think out loud. The rest of the school day proceeds peacefully. Nothing out of the ordinary happens, and as soon as the lunch bell rings, you realize that you’re starving. You fumble in your pockets for some coins as you head towards the cafeteria. The meals are nothing special, but they beat an empty stomach every day of the week. Some of your classmates claimed that the school nurse is quite skilled when it comes to boxed lunches, having in turn heard about this from other friends. In short, there was no evidence of this, indicating that this was just an urban legend. Whether the legend of the chef nurse is true or not, the only available food in this school is standing right in front of you. You settle for some curry bread and a can of soda, getting rid of your change in the process. The next decision is going to be the most delicate: where to eat.You want to avoid a crowded place at all costs, considering that you’re not exactly in a sociable mood. This leaves three spots open:>The roof>The Entrance>The running track.
>>255943>>255847>>255716>>255713The roof is probably the best option. It is a bit chilly today, so you guess most of your fellow students would rather stay inside. Come to think of it, Kazuto is the kind of guy who eats on the rooftop too. You haven’t seen him after homeroom and you’re still wondering where he is. If you’re lucky, you’ll get to have lunch together and share tips about the upcoming test.As you open the door to the rooftop, you’re greeted by an unfamiliar face.A brown-haired guy you’ve never seen before is composedly eating his lunch. As soon as he notices you, he smiles and waves at you.“Why hello there! How are you doing on this fine day?”“Ah… I am ok, I guess? I was hoping to have lunch alone on the roof, but given the circumstances…”“Oh come on dude, don’t be like that. There’s more than enough room for the both of us”.You reluctantly walk in, not having any argument to oppose his claims. It is certainly true that the roof is large enough to accommodate more than two people, and yet, you just wanted to be left alone. The cheerful smile on the boy’s face tells you that it’s not going to happen. “I’ve never seen you around before. Are you by any chance a transfer student?”, you inquire.“I am, I am! Hyoudou Issei, pleased to meet you.”“Hakuno. The pleasure’s all yours. What brings you to this desolate place?”The transfer student’s face turns serious all of a sudden.“Strange magical activity has been detected in this school. I am an envoy from the demonic clan of the Gremory, here to discover what is occurring”.“Sweet story dude, you should write a light novel or something. Needs more dragons though.”“I am the dragon”, he unflinchingly responds.“Sounds legit”.You sip from your soda can. Chuunibyou is serious stuff, and you simply lack the tools to drag this guy out of his delusions.“Hey, Hakuno”, the guy continues with a deviant smile on his face. “Have you seen the girls in this school?”“No I have not. I close my eyes every time I see a member of the opposite sex. I have never in my life ever seen a girl in my school”“Oh don’t be a dick, you know what I mean. You’ve got some big breasted beauties in this school, I’d love to fondle them”, he explains, rhythmically contracting his hands as if to mimic the act of squeezing a pair of boobs.“I am sure ladies are crazy about you”, you sarcastically comment. “Yeah, they are. And who could blame them, in their right mind?”, he boasts. “Anyway, listen out. I know you don’t believe me, but I think I’ve located the source of this magic interference. On the first floor, facing the entrance, turn left and then left again. You’ll find yourself in front of a wall. I think that wall is actually a magically-concealed door. I’ve seen a student standing in front of it and then disappearing. “
>>257039“A student? Could you describe him?”, you ask, visibly agitated“S-sure”, he responds, a tad startled. “He had short black hair and dark brown eyes, he looked a bit younger than his age”It’s not much, but this description fits Kirigaya pretty well. If he really disappeared, he might be in trouble. He’s not the most considerate guy, or the most helpful, or the most generous, or the most intelligent, or the best of friends… yeah he doesn’t have a lot of redeeming qualities, but the idea of him disappearing just doesn’t sit right with you. >I might not be too fond of him, but I must find out what happened to Kazuto>Issei is definitely screwing with me. None of this really happened. >Write-in

“Congratulations, Hyoudou. You managed to be slightly more relevant than my dumb professor. You should pat yourself on the back for that”, you say, as you stand up and head for the exit.“Hey, where are you going?”“If what you said is true, then my friend disappeared through that wall. Er, friend is a big word, but you get the idea”A few ramps of stairs divide you from your target, and you hasten your pace, eager to close the gap. When you finally are in front of the wall, you touch it gently. Your hand disappears, and you quickly retract it.‘Well what do you know? The chuuni was right’, you reluctantly admit.Pushing forward, you pass through the invisible barrier and find yourself in a sort of abandoned warehouse. It looks like a gateway to another world, and the atmosphere is so alien that you find yourself shuddering.A mannequin stands up and comes towards you. “Potential Master identified”, a mechanical voice utters. “Warning: there is no return once you pass through the door in front of you. So when will OP usually start?I wish Fate/Extra got the whole set of Class instead of only Saber/Archer/caster.Rider need love too ya know
You raise your finger asking for a temporary leave. You rush back to your class to grab from your backpack a copy of ‘Robin Hood: Men in Tights’, an American movie you’re rather fond of. Something tells you it’s going to be useful for you in the future. You return to the storage room, and the mannequin is still waiting for you to proceed. You nod in its direction slightly, and the effigy leads the way through the door. You go through a long corridor which seems to be located in an oneiric dimension. Strange lights and shapes appear on the walls and on the roof, until you’re finally inside a place that looks much like a labyrinth. “Welcome, potential Master”, an old and mature voice greets you. “The trial ahead will just be a way to test your abilities, as well as a way to get acquainted to the battlefield. Please, proceed onwards.”Hesitantly, you oblige. In the center of the room stands a disarmed skeleton, facing you threateningly. The doll steps in front of you and prepares for battle. “The creature standing in front of you is an Enemy Program. I created it myself for the purpose of this trial. Fighting with an unknown enemy can be difficult, but the effigy and you share a bond through a psychic channel. The doll will fight to protect you, and as you acquire more information about the enemy, it will be automatically transmitted to the effigy. Therefore, keep your eyes open: the more you learn about the enemy, the more your guardian will be effective”The mannequin seizes the initiative by attempting to slap the enemy with its thin yet resilient arms. The enemy easily parries the attack and strikes back. This repeats for a couple of times, until you realize that the enemy fighting style is heavily reliant on keeping his guard up and waiting for a chance to strike back. You guess the solution would be striking down with even more force in order to break the skeleton’s defense, and at the same time you come to this realization, the effigy reacts by increasing the power of its attacks. The skeleton is thus quickly defeated, and it crumbles away.“Well done”, the mature-sounding voice praises you. “What do you wish to to now? Proceed to fight a slightly stronger enemy? Or would you rather practice with another low-ranking minion?”

“Uh, I think I will pass, Boss”, you shout. “Send me more of the small fry. I think I still need to get the hang of this”“As you wish”, he responds.Another skeleton appears in place of the first one. Your mannequin has barely any time to react before being hit by a flurry of attacks.Once again, you steel your mind and try to understand the situation. The enemy tends to overexert while attacking, something you can use to your advantage. The doll seems to have understood too: it focuses on defense, striking back when the enemy is careless enough to leave an opening. Quickly enough, this skeleton crumbles too. One more appears, striking with overwhelming force. It seems it’s following the same technique you adopted to break the first enemy’s guard. In that case, the best response is a quick strike that will take it by surprise and leave him no time to react. Having defeated the last minion, you start to wonder what the next one will look like. Before you have time to come up with an answer, an object appears by your feet, and you promptly pick it up.“That is a gift I give to every potential Master that makes it this far. It can restore your effigy’s health, but it’d be best to save it until you get a proper Servant”A proper… Servant? Like in the ramblings of professor Mikisugi?“With this, the entry test is over. It’s time to move to the exam proper. Follow the corridors to the next room, potential Master”.Exactly as you expected, the structure you’re in is akin to a labyrinth. You do however find an exit, which leads you to a dark room lit only by the faint shine of gothic-looking windows. In the center of the hall stands another mannequin, just like yours. That is without a doubt your final trial. Your doll moves obeying your will, and the clash begins. The two are evenly matched, but you’re having an hard time detecting the other doll’s movements and patterns. Your effigy is holding up to the best of its abilities, also thanks to your keen eye, but the enemy clearly has an edge here. This is the first time you think about defeat. Getting rid of the skeletal minions was no big deal, but now the fear of losing starts to creep in. Who will protect you then? Those dolls look frail, but they’re actually quite strong.>I have no choice. I have to use my item!>I have to calm down.
