Part 1: http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/qstarchive/232292/

The plot so far: In the spring of the last year (ingame), ten giants left their former tribe and struck out to make a tribe of their own. The Cewri Tribe, as they came to be called, established a village called Anor Londo in the foothills of the Gargan Mountains. Leading these giants is Chieftain Gough, a mighty hill giant whose leadership has proven to be invaluable to the tribe. The first year proved to be a race against time to get enough supplies for the winter, which worked out very well. Along the way, the hill giants picked up many allies, including the human farmer Wilbur, the champion archer Armagga, Elmagh the Priestess of Fire, Wor the shaman, and Balgmar the Champion of Stronk. Additionally, they gained the favor of two gods, Lava Mama and Stronk Dad, who gave birth to the first hill giant. Late in the winter, the giants captured the human village of Welsten Village, and in response the Kingdom of Brylon declared war on the giants, thus beginning a new age of conflict and conquest.

>Deciding what to do with the humans
After the conquest of Welsten (now known as New Londo), fierce bickering began as to what to do with the human targets. The Giant Supremacist faction wanted to make the humans into slaves while the more progressive members of the tribe opted to let the humans continue as they were. With no clear consensus as to what to do, Chieftain Gough decides that, as an act of compromise, the city would be placed under martial law, and the humans (minus Wilbur) would be indentured until martial law was lifted.
>Visiting Koggarach
Now that spring has come, the giants make another trip to Koggarach. The first to arrive are Elmagh and the priestess acolyte, who preach to the tribe about Lava Mama and Stronk Dad. As the giants of Koggarach had no existing faith, the religion spreads quickly to the village. Next came Chieftain Gough and Balgmar, who began negotiating with the chieftain of the village about joining the Cewri Tribe. The giants are not so quick to accept, and instead offer an alliance. Koggarach would remain autonomous but would support the military efforts of the Cewri and give aid to Anor Londo and New Londo when needed. Gough and Balgmar decide to think the options over one more time.

back from the last thread fuck yeah legogo
but im semi progressive and think we should get the humans on our side bbut still reap their benefits of them
and all hail the gods
>>
>Armor
The giants decide to copy the humans' armor, making it more durable and reinforced. With the aid of the human captives, they are able to arm the rest of the clubsmen. They think they might be able to build better armor, but it will likely take research to do so. (-36 bronze bars, +12 bronze lamellar armor (+1 def))
>Training more troops
You focus the rest of your efforts on training new troops, and are able to train two more slingers. (+2 slingers)

>EVENTS:
-Spring has come! Resources are beginning to become more plentiful, the weather has become less harsh, and the humans are able to go back to farming, giving you a surplus of food! You are also able to use nature spells again and do everything else you couldn't do in Winter. Large beasts and monsters are beginning to wake from their hibernation, however, and you may encounter them while gathering resources in the woods and swamp. Spring will last for 5 more turns.
-Your wounded troops are now healed up enough that they can return to action!
-You can expect the wandering traders to pay the village a visit during the middle of the spring.
-Koggarach offers a trade! They offer 5 bronze bars and a giant-sized cart for 15 of your leather.

(I gotta update the stats and map real quick too, I was more concerned with migrating everything over versus updating.)
>>
Oh boy we got iron bars. Better make a lot of weapons with those. Maybe Halberds

Accept the trade offer from Koggarach

Kill the cattle we jut got from the humans to make up for the trade

Go hunting for dire bears

>>
>>249316
Beautiful.

Koggarach: we have nothing to lose from an alliance. As a show if good faith we should offer them access to pray near the Shrine of the Couple in Anor Londo. Later, if they catch on to the way of Lava Mama and Stronk Dad then we can offer pilgrimages to the volcano for their priests.

>>249445
+1 to accept trade

>>249441
Can you imagine the damage with those halberds? Ooooweee
+1 to Animal Companionship with direbears

We should research armor too.

Can we offer jobs in our mines to the humans? Do they have machines that help them mine?

>(Free Action) Slaughter the cattle
You take the axe to all of New Londo's cattle. Screw these lesser valley bovines, giant-raised yaks are far superior.
>(Free Action) Trading
The trade is accepted! Koggarach thanks you for your business. (+5 bronze bars, +1 giant-sized cart)
>Dire Bear Pen
With the aid of some slaves, the giants begin building a pen for their dire bears, first erecting a fence and then laying the foundation for a building to keep them in during the winter. (Progress: 1/2)
>Halberds
Late in the night, an inspiration strikes one of your weaponsmiths and a new idea is devised. You ask the humans if they know how to make anything like said weapon, but they know only how to make the spears they use. Better get to researching! (Progress: 1/2)
>The Mines
Your giants travel to the spot where you got the copper ore (marked on the map) and begin digging down into the earth. Before long, you start hitting more copper, but the mine is still not complete. (Progress: 1/2)
>Armor Research
You try to find a way to make your armor sturdier, more like a solid plate rather than the humans' puny lamellar. However, this too will take some time to complete. (Progress: 1/2)

>EVENTS
-Rumor has it that a force may be mobilizing from Amberly. Raids may occur at any time so be prepared. You suspect New Londo is a more likely target, but Gough is reluctant to rule out an attack on Anor Londo.
-The selective breeding project has been completed! Your yaks have been upgraded to Greater Yaks, which will produce more leather and meat when slain. However, riding them at this point is still not recommended.
-An alliance is forged between the Cewri and Koggarach under the terms that Koggarach is to remain autonomous, but will provide military support and aid when needed. Also, your shrine is now seeing a steady flow of Koggarach giants coming and going.
>>
Whoops, should be 4 leather, not 19 due to the trade.
>>
Kill 3 yaks

Go searching for direbears. The pen should be down by then

Train more clubsmen

Send a force of Giants south down the road that connects New Londo. It probably leads to an intersection that goes to Amberly village. That way we can see if there's a build up there.

Is Gough's and Maag's child going to be born soon?
>>
>>249811
Finish dire bear pen, halberds, the mine and armor.
>>
>>249851

Probably not until fall. It takes time to make a babby.
>>
>>249851

Also do you want to station them there or just go look?
>>
>>249857
Have them stay there for a period of time. They might come along a supply or army convoy.
>>
>>249851
>>249857
Maybe build some kind of outpost or watch tower there ? so we can react quickly if one of our base is attacked

Increase troop production and drill prepare for invasion

Our population and military is small, so continue with better armor research or anything that can make our troops more durable.
>>
At the least we should bulk up our guards and stay alert for a raid
>>
Make a sacrifice or perform a ritual to Lava Mama to bless our yaks with increased fertility. Maybe start grazing the hills.

I'm still for making a temple at the volcano for our head priestess and great warrior to train bad asses and worship the gods

Start fortifying both our towns

Start a protection scheme on the halfling village ("You know there's some dangerous giants out there. We can keep them away for _____.")

Build a brewery?
>>
>>249886
We shouldn't set up a permanent base there. We're only sending troops there to see if any weapons and troops are heading west to Amberly village. If we ambush a substantial convoy there, it might be an indication of a build up for an invasion on Anor Londo. Plus since it's probably a crossroads, they will send a large contingent of troops to dislodge us if we stay there too long.
>>
We can also still challenge the other giants to friendly competitions of rock hurling, wrestling, shouting, etc.

>(Free Action) Slaughter yaks
You say goodbye to some of your yak herd. Due to your yake breeding efforts, you get double the usual amount of food and leather. (+6 food, +6 leather gained)
>Scouting for convoys
Nothing yet, although you manage to ambush a trio of unarmed halflings and their cart of marsh carp and salt. Your giants take the halflings back to New Londo for questioning. (+22 silver coins, +4 food, +3 bags of salt, +1 tiny cart, +3 halfling prisoners)
>Finishing projects

Find cut stone to build houses with.

Construct iron Halberds

Build more giant housing. Humies can wait

Gather cut stone

In that case, ask the Halflings where they came from. Ask them what village they were leaving and why they were going the way they were. Perhaps see if they know what the people of Brylon think of this conflict.
>>
>>249924
We should upgrade to stone walls in Anor Londo asap. Can we get the humans to divert efforts to cutting stone?

We should also start building and training with halberds

Can we pray to Lava Mama and ask how to train Fire Warriors that can use fire buffs on their weapons? For lore, maybe they have to be women like the priestesses. Daughters of Stronk?
>>
Build a temple

Build more housing in our capital (we still have housing coming in new lando, right?)

Interrogate halfings

Use the cart to gather cut stone

Find a dire bear and train our shaman to ride it

Build a brewery on the river so we can trade beer and improve relations with the other giants
>>
>>249933
>>249935

Have they been approached by any of the King's forces? Have they seen any troops gathering?

Are they open to be hired as scouts in disguise?

Before we send them away, tell them that there are more giants in tribes throughout the nearby lands and that the Age of Giants is coming.
>>
>>249937
I'm thinking about injecting a new God. A God of storms, which includes lightning, and of war. Have him be the son of Lava Mama and Stonk Dad. Have a god of war so we can have lightning weapons and stuff. Although I'm not sure if this conflicts with any of the lore or not.
>>
>>249940
I thought Stronk Dad pretty much is our god of war
>>
>>249937

As it stands, the magic the acolytes (even the Priestess of Fire) uses is too dangerous to use in imbuing weapons with fire elemental power. At this point it would destroy the weapon and possibly hurt the wielder. You should have a look at the pastebin under the magic section of the stats, it explains how divine magic works, what spells you can get, etc.
>>
>>249940

Technically the hill giants are the children of Stronk Dad and Lava Mama. Although if you can find another way to make it work and get support for it I can make it happen.
>>
>>249940
In the lore, their son was the first Hill Giant, so that can factor into the elemental stuff, too. So this "Son of Storms", being the first Hill Giant, he would have been responsible for starting the Hill Giant tribe as we know it. Just like we are trying to rebuild our exiled community. Of course we need his blessing!!
>>
>>249942
I thought that Stonk Dad was a god of strength and manhood. The god I'm thinking of would be a god of storms and a god of war along the sides just so we could have lightning weapons.
>>
>>249945
but if we can't imbue weapons then maybe the elemental stuff is for naught. Stronk is a pretty good warrior god.
>>
I vote for keeping it simple with 2 gods for now

>>249938

The creation mythos is kind of limited. Lava Mama and Giant Dad are essentially Adam and Eve which constricts expanding it into a proper pantheon.

They say they're from Amberly, and they were headed to the capitol city of Albemeria to trade their wares. They say that while the people in Amberly and the rest of the kingdom detest and are fearful of the giants, but they detest and fear the orcs more.
>>249939
There are a bunch in Amberly right now. He hasn't seen any reinforcements enter the village yet. They don't want to be scouts, but that doesn't mean you can't try to force them to be. As to the Age of Giants, they echo the words of the villagers of New Londo after it was captured: "If Brylon falls, it will be the Age of the Orcs for you!"
>>
>>249938
>Find a dire bear and train our shaman to ride it

+1 for this, maybe train our clubsmen with heavy armor too ride some armored bear.
>>
We should just be passive right now against the kingdom of Brylon. If Brylon is spending most of its forces against the orcs and still struggling, we should just sit tight and prepare ourselves.
>>
>>249957
As a longer term goal we should take advantage of this orc invasion and take some more of the kingdoms border villages to fortify and use as a buffer zone between our mountains and the invaders as we explore and expand west.
Let the humans and orcs kill each other.

Through the combined effort of giant and slave, you manage to complete the rest of the giants' housing in New Londo. Unrest is brewing in the homeless human slaves, however. (New building: Wooden Dwellings, can house 30) (-10 wood)
>Finding dire bears
With a little bit of good luck a group of your clubsmen stumble upon a female dire bear and her cub. The mother bear, in defense of her cub, lashes out ferociously and in her maternal rage is unable to be tamed. Your clubsmen get away with just a few scratches this time thanks to their armor, and slay the bear. They then take the cub back to Anor Londo and put it in the newly constructed dire bear pen. Since the cub you captured is female, if you can get a male cub you could breed the two, though dire bears are very slow to reproduce while in captivity. It will be 3 turns before this guy grows to adulthood. (+2 food, +2 leather, +1 male dire bear cub)

-The wandering traders have come! This season, they bring 15 cut stone, 10 iron and 5 obsidian for either 175 silver coins or all 7 of your shortbows, all 8 of your wooden bucklers, and your bronze shortspear.
-Your homeless giants all now have found homes in New Londo, but the human hobos are growing quite agitated. You may want to do something about this before it gets out of hand.

You accept the traders' offers and exchange goods, and the traders say their farewells until the summer.
>Obsidian maces
The giants put their obsidian to use, making two very intimidating spiked maces. (-4 obsidian, +2 obsidian maces)

The giants get to building new housing for the many homeless people in New Londo, much to their delight. It will take time, but the people are content with waiting until then. (-10 wood) (Progress: 1/3)

Cheers! You have researched alcohol. May many good times and wild parties ensue. (Tech gained: [Brewing I])

Put the fire acolyte in New Londo to help with the raid
For an ambush, we can't steallth hide, but could we put a couple troops down the road, breaking line of sight, to come in and flank the Raiders during the battle?
Train with and arm obsidian weapons/halberds

Agreed. Minor Fear or Minor Swamp would both be great. Fear on the generals and Swamp on any horses or brigades.

>>250648
Sweet! The Anor Boulders could be the second team in our Giant League.

After the raid we should definitely start brewing beer. We should brew a special batch for the humans to improve their liking of us.
>>
We should tell the halfling village that it is only a matter of time before the human kingdom is defeated and we can protect them.
>>
We should put in a rule or law that every giant that visits our shrine throws in some sort of metal as a offering to lava mama and stronk dad. This was we can get favor a lot quicker
>>
>>250080
Start making rectangular Roman shields and bronze tipped spears.
>Start making pike units for defense of the town.

Start building walls with everyone who isn't fighting on the job around new londo.
>I'm talking like Julius vs the gauls wall building fast.

Work on the catapult! Why did we ever stop working on the catapult! launches flying boulders the size of a whale can induce so much more fear!
>>
>>252146
Anon I don't think spears are really that useful for giants unless we are fighting other giants. Clubs or halberds work better because aoe.
>>
>>252146
For the catapult I believe it was determined that in roll-based combat it would not give us any more advantage than we already have. We have a natural intimidation buff and the rocks thrown by a catapult wouldn't be that much bigger than those thrown by our Slingers. I don't think area-of-effect applies to the rocks anyway

That's what I remember please correct me if I misunderstand the combat mechanics.
>>
>>252146
I don't think we need a catapult. Giants hurling rocks is like catapult in human terms. Also Gough and Armaaga using bows are the equivalent to ballistas. A catapult might just be a waste of time and resources.
>>
>>252146
Good idea pulling everyone to focus on walls! Especially stone walls for our capital Anor.
>>
>>252231
>>252241

I assumed we where making our human slaves fight as well. But not in open field combat, in defensive of the town.
>The shields, spears and catapult was for the human to use under supervision of giants.
>I was gonna let clubs and shit be the giant weapons.
>>
>>252296
Is there really a reason to use them to fight though? They are like 3x times less effective than us. And arming them so soon after taking over their village doesn't sound like a good idea. Also I think pretty much all of the good/average fighters the village had died.
>>
>>252331
I concur. To arm a group of people we just subdued is folly. They have to reason to fight fight for us against their fellow countrymen. We can not offer freedom for we just took it away and we can not offer an abundance of food for we require it more. Maybe if the orcs show up we can arm them.
>>
>>252365
I have a feeling Orc will be even harder to deal with than Humans. From what we heard they are clearly trying to just takeover as much land as possible.

>(Free Action) Preparing for the raid
Heeding Shaman Wor's warning, the giants sent their forces to New Londo in preparation for a possible raid.
>Offerings for the gods
The giants, seeing an increasing flow of traffic, decide to implement a new practice where travelers to the Shrine of the Couple must offer metal to Lava Mama and Stronk Dad. As a decree by the Priestess of Fire, worshippers were obliged to obey and a steady stream of favor began to accumulate. (The Shrine of the Couple now automatically generates +10 favor per turn. This number will increase as more followers begin traveling to the shrine.)
>Stone walls for New Londo
The giants begin an all-out effort to build stone walls around New Londo, using all the slaves to do it. They finish the gates, but the rest of the wall is still not done. (Progress: 1/2)
>Training new troops
The giants equip their new weapons and perform some basic training with them. The new soldiers then head to New Londo with the rest of the army. (3 iron halberdiers and 2 obsidian clubsmen gained)
>Praying to Stronk Dad
In preparation for the raid, Balgmar and the other giants pray to Stronk Dad for strength and luck. Your giants feel as though they are slightly more protected from harm. (Blessing received: Stronk Shield, +1 defense to all units until end of turn)

>EVENTS:
-Just as Shaman Wor predicted, your giants spot a band of Brylon troops to the south of New Londo. This time, the enemy has brought cavalry units: lightly-armored but fast horsemen along with similarly fast mounted archers that are effective from long-range. You count 5 horsemen and 4 mounted archers. In addition, there are three phalanxes of 20 spearmen, 20 halfling spearmen and 20 swordsmen respectively. Lastly, you spot six peasants toward the rear with a battering ram. Your giants take positions. Gough, Armaaga, Elmagh, the acolyte and the slingers move to the wall's ramparts while 5 clubsmen and the macemen take up positions around the wall. The leader of the raid orders a charge, and combat ensues.

>Turn 1: The mounted archers move out, making erratic motions while firing at the ramparts. Due to the effects of the Stronk Shield, some of the arrows are deflected, but a few find their mark in an unfortunate slinger, who is wounded badly. The other three slingers, along with Gough, Armaaga and the fire priestesses, retaliate and Armaaga manages to down one. Additionally, one of Elmagh's incantations manages to set another ablaze. The line of archers fires next. Instead of normal arrows, however, they launch flaming arrows, setting parts of the wall and some buildings in town ablaze. The citizens of New Londo did their best to contain the fires in town, but the wall took some serious damage from the flames. The horsemen charge forward and one of their spears pierces the heart of a clubsman. The phalanxes follow, nearly getting into combat range.

>>
>>253150
I vote we bust out minor swamp and pelt humies with ranged.
>>
>>253150
Have Gough and Armaaga pick off the horse units. The slingers will focus fire on the spear phalanx since they are probably the best unit the enemy has against us.
>>
>>253237
I agree with Anon, but I think our fire priestess should also make some fire explosions in the ranks of the phalanxes.
>>
>>253263
That too
>>
>>253150
We should have Shaman Wor create a minor swamp to block the main way. As the enemy forces go around the swamp, our clubsman, maceman and halberdiers lie in wait and ambush them.

Bonus if we can get our fire Mage to light tree trunks/ wood on fire and have our slingers throw it at the forces.

If they enemy tries to charge through the swamp light it on fire.

We should also pray more for stronk dad and lava mamas favor. Do we roll a 1d100 ?
>>
>>253263

>>253271
Pray to our gods to help Our long ranged units in battle, have shaman wor either make a bad luck charm our create a swamp.
If we go with the swamp then that delays the enemy forces , we can either light it on fire or set up a ambish
>>
>Turn 1 (cont'd):
(Giants' military: 19, 1 slinger wounded, 1 clubsman killed) (Brylon raiding force's military: 67, 2 mounted archers killed) (New Londo's defenses reduced to 2)

>Turn 2: Turning their attention to the archers, the giants' wall team unleashes another barrage. The acolyte throws a fireball towards the line, which burns an archer to a crisp, and Gough manages to pick off a mounted archer and a regular archer. Rockthrowers and slingers focus on the phalanxes, easily breaking the line of the halfling vanguard and smashing three of them. The archers spend a turn lighting their arrows ablaze in preparation for the next volley. The clubsmen and macemen charge to meet the line of halflings, tearing them to pieces. Seven halflings are killed in the charge, but the remaining mounted archer circles behind the group and puts an arrow through the skull of a clubsman. The other two phalanxes move to flank the giants, but Balmarg gives the signal to move out, and the rumbling of heavy footsteps heralds the arrival of the rest of the army, who are in flanking position of the spearman phalanx!
(Giants' military: 16, one slinger wounded, two clubsmen killed) (Brylon raiding force's military: 54, three mounted archers, two archers, 10 halfling swordsmen killed)

>Turn 3: The mounted archer returns his attention to the wall, wounding a slinger. Gough responds by putting a giant-sized arrow between his eyes. Maag kills an archer, and the priestesses ignite a horseman. Balgmar and his troops slam hard into the side of the line. The halberdiers skewer two spearmen and Balgmar could be seen slicing one poor spearman in half. The rest of Balgmar's clubsmen tear through the phalanx, killing 7 more. With Balgmar now in the fight, the rest of the giants focus on the halflings and the swordsman regiment. They kill another 4 halflings, causing the rest to flee. The swordsman phalanx splits into two, with one moving to flanking position and another engaging the giants and wounding a maceman. Lastly, the archers fire another volley, further damaging the wall and wounding the acolyte. The battering ram now moves forward, slowly inching forward to deliver the final blow to the gates.
(Giants' military: 14, 2 slingers and 1 maceman wounded, 2 clubsmen killed) (Brylon raiding force military: 26, 14 halfling swordsmen killed, 6 halfling swordsmen fled, 10 spearmen killed, 4 mounted archers killed, 1 horseman killed, 3 archers killed) (New Londo's defense reduced to 1)

Why would they fight to the last man?
Are things so shitty in brylon that the punishment for returning home a failure is harsher than death?

>>
>Turn 4: Shaman Wor, finally climbing up the rubble of the walls, casts Minor Swamp on the flanking swordsmen, grinding their attempt to a halt as they are bogged down by the mud, saving the giants a lot of pain. The enemy, sustaining heavy losses, breaks formation and focuses on taking down the nearest threat. Maag and Gough continue firing on the horsemen, killing 2, and Elmarg sets the swamp on fire, roasting all ten swordsmen in one go. The giant warriors then use this opportunity to attempt to break through and get to the archer line. Balgmar, leading the charge, kills two swordsmen and is the first to get to the archer line. However, his sword arm takes an arrow, and he retreats, leaving it to the others, who follow suit and cut the remaining archers to ribbons. With the rest of the army in total tatters, the remaining troops make a retreat. You are victorious, but many of your troops lie wounded.
(Giants' military strength: 12, 2 slingers, 1 maceman, 1 acolyte of fire, Balgmar wounded, 2 clubsmen killed) (Brylon raiding force military: 0)

>(Free Action): Burying the dead
You take the fallen giants on a funeral procession to Lava Mama's Sanctuary, where they are given to the volcano to become one with Lava Mama. (Culture updated)
>(Free Action) A letter to Brylon
After their latest victory, the giants decide that it is time to send a decisive message to Brylon. Under Gough's instructions, Wilbur begins writing a letter in the human script, which states the following:

"Greetings, King of Brylon,

Our name is Cewri, and we are the ones who conquered the town you call Welsten. You have no doubt heard the stories about us slaughtering the pathetic forces you have sent against us as easily as we chop our wood. With lava and stronk we will bring the Age of Giants to this land, but we will offer to spare you if you surrender the territory of Amberly to us. We know of your struggle against the orcs and you will not win a war against two fronts. Do this and we will not attack any more of your villages. Refuse and we will destroy your villages one by one, making your empire struggle with not just the orcs but with attrition as well. I await your reply.

Sincerely, Gough of the Cewri Tribe."

The letter is then handed off to one of the halfling villagers who takes the letter to Amberly, stating that it is to be delivered to the king at once. It will probably take a turn or two for the king to respond, if he does at all.
>Smelting the junk
You get to breaking down the useless human and halfling weapons into bronze that can be better used for superior giant-crafted weapons and armor or for offerings to Lava Mama and Stronk Dad. (Holy Stronk! 95 bronze bars gained!)
>Building the stone wall
Surprisingly, the gates that the giants constructed were surprisingly effective. They decide to rebuild the wall, but this time in stone. (Progress: 2/3)
>Building the human houses
You repair the human houses that were damaged in the raid and make progress on the new housing, which is good because both the humans and the giants are multiplying like crazy. (Progress: 2/3)
>Building a temple to train badass d00ds
Your giants get to work at building a temple in the Sanctuary of Lava Mama in honor of Lava Mama and Stronk Dad where warriors and priestesses can receive their blessing and grow in power. The foundation is built but much work needs to be done. (Progress: 1/3)

>EVENTS:
-Summer has arrived! Although most of the monsters have become less aggressive, it will also be harder to find beasts such as dire bears and worgs until fall.
-Your dire bear cub has reached adulthood! As it was raised largely under your care, it is completely tame (towards you). You can now use it in battle, or perhaps as a mount as well.
-Your abundance of food has sparked a population boom in New Londo!

>(cont'd)
>>
>EVENTS (continued):
-The giants of Koggarach have arrived with a proposal: a friendly swatrock tournament to be held on the first day of each season. Each tribe would bring its four best teams and compete against each other. Each team places a bet of something valuable and whoever wins the tournament gets to take it all. The Koggarach giants have their four teams all ready to go and have brought a sizable amount of mead. Their bet is 10 iron bars and ask that you try to make a matching bet. Do you accept?

Your teams:
>The Anor Londo Boulders
>The New Londo Direbears

With a distance of 59 meters, the North Gargan Avalanches win the tournament! In second place are the New Londo Direbears with 53 meters, and the Anor Londo Boulders take third with 52 meters. Unfortunately, this means that you lose your bet (10 food and 10 wood). The giants also secretly make a trophy out of gold, silver and iron, called Sir Gough's Cup, which goes to the North Gargan Avalanches until the next tournament.

Would y'mind finishin' up those houses before they put my head to the block please? Oh right, this came for ya." Wilbur hands the giants a scroll sealed with wax: which has the following written on it.

"Dear Hill Giant scum,

You have a great deal of nerve telling ME to give up MY lands to YOU. You haven't seen the START of our military strength, and if I were to turn my army southwards you would be licking my boots and picking my grapes before I could even finish my glass of wine. Orcs be damned, if you want my lands you had better pray to your little gods that when we come to claim what is ours I'm feeling generous enough to give you a swift death.

Signed,
King Halios von Brunschwilder IV"
>Offerings and blessings
You offer one silver bar to the Lava Mama, and in turn, she blesses a young giantess with the gift of fire. (+20 faith from offering, -20 faith for acolyte training, +1 acolyte of fire)
>Bear riding
You hammer out a set of iron bear armor and a leather saddle for your dire bear. However it isn't used to having an old shaman riding on it, so training will take some time. (Progress: 1/2)
>Exploration
Your giants haven't explored in a while and are itching to do so again while they aren't in the grips of winter or being raided. Their western explorations yielded more arid scrublands. They found a village by a lake, but they were stopped from getting close to it by a group of nine beasts with the upper body of a man and the lower body of a horse. These "centaurs" approach the giants with their weapons drawn. "This is Khor. State your business here or leave", they say. "No outsiders allowed in the village." Being outnumbered by these beasts that look much stronger than humans and not having much to say, the giants turn around and head home. Meanwhile, you also explore north along the road to the north of New Londo. You continue until you hit a mountain range, where you find a large, intimidating fortress with a wall that stretches clear across the pass it is built in. According to a slave holding your giants' gear, this is the Scarlet Gate, one of the bastions against the Orcs. Past the fort lies the Ograch Wastes, where the orcs lurk. The human also mentions Estgaard, a mining village that is much larger than both New Londo and Amberly. The giants decide it would be a bad idea to explore much in there without having some backup.
>Beer brewing
Boy, that mead during the swatrock tournament was good! The giants decide they need some more, and manage to fill up five jugs of fresh Cewri mead. (+5 jugs of mead)

Gonna update the pastebin and then get to bed. I'll be back tomorrow.

So on average what is the size of a giants feces? I'm suprised we haven't utilized weaponry of giant dung barrels.

Primarily, if we were to be pushed back to Anor Londo, we would effectively have a counter measure against any army forming bases at the foot of the mountain.
Secondly it would give us a safe initiative option to weaken any settlements we choose to attack.

All we need are barrels big enough for giant feces. And some place to allow them to foul, so not to inflict ourselves with disease.
>>
>>254070
Maybe ambush some of their caravans and leave nothing but crushed little bodies to send a message
>>
>>254101
since we are using gough and anor londo i assume its darksoul sized giants

We could do exploding barrels instead. Disease agents would be more practical if we were more geared towards sieges than direct combat

It's more for drawn out combat. Hit them with fecal barrels and run. They now must either evacuate their base of operation and face us on our turf or manage the waste which will split their man power.

I'll work on it during the next update. There are more humans than giants right now, though. You might want to take some time to research barrels too, right now all you have are clay pots and jugs. It'll definitely help.

Yeah, probably around that size. They average around 10-13 feet tall. Roughly twice as big as humans. Also they're not all spoopy like the dark souls giants are, see the pic for a good representation of what they look like (the two smaller giants, not the hueg stone giant).

>(Free Action) The Amberly problem
Your scouts near the crossroads report another movement of troops to Amberly. After reading the king's reply, the giants start increasingly talking about how Amberly will continue to be a danger unless something is done with it. Many want action now, but Gough is hesitant. "Do not count Amberly as weak because of the halflings. Amberly will not be as easy as New Londo. They know we are coming and we know there are troops coming and going from there often. We need to both bolster our army and come up with a smart plan.
>Talks with the Centaurs
You make another trek over the Gargan Mountains, bringing with you some of your mead to trade. Once again the centaurs stop you at the border. The leader of the border guard steps forward, lowering his weapon to talk. "Halt, by order of Khan Sartaq, none may pass into centaur land. However, we see that you wish to trade and would be willing to accept. We will build a trading post at the foot of the mountains that you came from. You may do business with us there when it is completed." Your giants inquire about the centaurs, to which they respond, "You stand at the border of the mighty Kholoron Khanate. By order of Centaur law we cannot tell you more." Although they seemed hostile at first, it seems as though they were merely upholding their laws. Still, it appears that you must wait for the centaurs to complete their trading post for you to do any trading with them.
>Smithing and the head blacksmith
Seeing as how you now have an abundance of metal, your blacksmiths get hard to work at forging bronze armor for your military. They manage to build 20 suits of bronze armor with stronger plates than the lamellar provided. Still, it is hard to move around in, which means that you'll want to equip lighter, faster units such as slingers and the like may wish to wear the much lighter lamellar. You should decide carefully who should wear what. This can be done as a free action, so feel free to switch up gear as you wish. One of your blacksmiths, a young giant named Strengar, seems exceptionally good at smithing, and Gough picks him out to become the head blacksmith of the tribe. (+20 suits of bronze heavy armor, -60 bronze bars, new special person gained: Head Blacksmith Strengar)
>Finishing construction in New Londo
Your giants and slaves work overtime to finish the stone wall and expanded housing in New Londo. Both works are now completed! (New buildings in New Londo: Expanded wooden human housing (can house 60), stone wall (New Londo town defense raised to 4))
>Building a stonemason's workshop
Your giants get to work building a shop with plenty of stoneworking tools in order to get a steady supply of cut stone. Work proceeds smoothly and they make good progress on it. (Progress: 1/2)

Trade only the silver

Let's beef up our troop numbers. Train 6 new clubsmen, 4 new halberds, 3 new slingers, 2 new maces, and 2 new fire acolytes

Have our shaman level up his magic. At least better healing spells

Start sending our small groups of some our fastest warriors on small attacks to probe Amberly's defenses.

I agree with putting ranged units in lighter armor, but maybe keeping a few clubsman lighter for a fast attack squad

Maybe consult Wilbur to find a human we can pay or threaten into being a spy to send to monitor Amberly
>>
>>255750
Equipping the armor: we put the acolytes, the wielder of the tower shield, most clubsmen and shaman in the heavy armor. Slingers and archers get the light armor.

I also vote to train our archers in new tactics: form 2 phalanx on either side of an army to flank with arrows and still provide cover. Call it the Formation of the Couple

Can we craft one-handed shields? Or more two-handed shields for a better phalanx? We are huge creatures I feel like there's a way to make essentially a mobile guard tower out of a formation
>>
>>255861
Can we run an envoy to the Orcs offering an armistice until the humans are dealt with? No sense fighting Orcs at least for now. We can use some kind of agreement with the Orcs against the King.

The troop numbers your scouts saw were fairly big, not unlike the last raid you faced. If you use the terrain to your advantage, you might be able to do something, but if you're just standing out in the open it probably won't end well, and Koggarach won't send its soldiers on suicide missions.
>>
>>255944
Aye. I'll think of something. Besides what's on the map, how is the terrain around Amberly?
>>
>>255977
Sorry I should have asked: I would like to send scouts to the crossroad south of New Londo and East of Amberly. We may be able to use the forest for cover and use guerilla boulder tactics on the road.

Heck we could even destroy or transport heavy boulders to make it so they can't all stay together. Like block off the road so they have to break into small groups to move around the crossroad. The way that rocks under bridges prevent people from camping there.

Could potentially slow reinforcements or give us terrain advantage.
>>
>>255977

The south is mostly taken up by a large lake surrounded by swampland which would probably be hard to move around in, both for you and for them. To the west, the road passes through a dense forest, and there is some hilly terrain towards the east end of the road on the map.

>(Free Action) Thanks for the business!
The traders give the totem to you in exchange for your silver coins. With no other business to conduct, they depart until next season. Now the question is where to put the totem?
>(Free Action) A spy in Amberly
Wilbur asks one of the humans to go monitor the situation in Amberly, threatening severe punishment if he doesn't. The human accepts. Much to the Cewri Tribe's dismay, there is indeed a massive troop buildup in Amberly. In addition. a fortress is being constructed in town, and a powerful battlemage from an elite group known as the Knights of the White Rose has recently arrived there.
>More Military
You manage to train the requested number of troops and get them weapons as well. In addition, the Lava Mama grants her favor to two acolytes. (-2 bronze bars, -8 iron bars, -4 obsidian) (Armor equipped accordingly)
>Finishing the stonemason's workshop
The finishing touches of the stonemason's workshop is constructed, and now a steady supply of stone is making its way to the tribe's supply cache. (-3 wood, stonemason's hut complete)
>Crates and Barrels
Research has begun on finding new ways to store things. Your giants think that wooden containers would be able to hold more things than their clay pots and jugs, so they get to work on making some designs. (Progress: 1/2)
>Blocking the road
In order to slow reinforcements from Amberly, the giants put a large pile of stone boulders in the way of the road. Now convoys would have to travel around them and through the forest, which would not only break their formations but also slow their carts and wagons.

>EVENTS:
-The summer heat is beginning to dissipate. Fall will arrive in 2 turns.

>>
>>256224
Try forging nails. See what happens when we put them inside a barrel and have a fire priestess ignite it.
>>
>>256216
Let's cut them off from their supplies by occupying the road. Have slingers and/or fire mages throw peojectiles into the first and then bolt.
We NEED shaman Wor to place a
hex upon the fort, or maybe block them off with swamp spells
>>
>>256216
What if we go a more gurilla warfare technique and lay trap around their fort and ambush them

Even Better would be of owe created obstacles that lead the enemy army into traps and kill boxes.

How many Koggarch reinforcements are coming? Can we also enlist the help of the Centaurs?
>>
>>256273
Meant to say *if we
>>
>>Blocking the road
We should definitely take full advantage of them having to break up. Send a small brigade in the forest and use whatever forest cover we can muster to attack their supply convoys. Use the bottleneck to an advantage.
>>
>>256273

Chieftain Makaba of Koggarach says he can spare 4 bronze clubsmen and 4 javelin throwers. They say they need to conserve troops because Brylon may be targeting them as well. The Kholoron Khanate refuses your proposal, stating that the centaurs deal with centaur affairs.

>>256264
What kind of hex would you wish to cast? And how many soldiers do you propose sending?
>>
>>256348
What is our total
number of Troops?

I was
planing to have shaman Wor either cast bad luck or a minor disease upon the enemy. Or we could cast a swamp to block them. I'll put it up to a vote
>>
>>256364
MILITARY:

Melee: 10 Bronze Heavy Clubsmen (3A, 4D), 3 Bronze Light Clubsmen, 7 Iron Halberdiers (4A, 4D, bonus against cavalry units), 4 Obsidian Macemen (4A, 3D, shield-breaking)
Ranged: 11 Slingers (2A, 2D)
Magic: 4 Acolytes of Fire (2A, 3D) (Bonus against flammable objects)
Allied forces: 4 bronze clubsmen (3A, 3D), 4 javelin throwers (3A, 2D)
>>
Also don't forget to pick a town for your Totem of Defense to go in.
>>
>>256348
Sorry Indidnt see the stat sheet on troops.
I say we send the chief and amagga since they have ranged weapons with Shaman Wor. I would even say we should send our fire followers, since they can do ranged damage. Send all of our Ranged units along without Light Clubsmen. Maybe bring our iron halberdiers in as a defense from a counter attack

My plan is a lightning attack and then retreat, leaving the enemy demoralized and confused. We would have them come in under the shelter of darkness, and have the slingers and fire followers throw projectiles and flaming items into the enemy fort. Maybe throw in a Diease Barrel, but I'm not sure if we are decided on that.
We could have amagga and gough Fire at key targets (Armory barracks etc)

Shaman Wor could cast a spell of Minor fear or famine in the the village to destroy their morale. This would help with getting is close enough to the fort to throw. Maybe in the next turn we could have him cast swamps around the camp to delay the enemy.

Thoughts everyone?
>>
Ken we rape their wit wimmin? it sounds like a good plan. make interspecies babies.
>>
>>256169
OP great job on the character descriptions they are awesome. I like Strengar even more knowing he plays swatrock on the Boulders lol

Actions:
Train the fire priestess to use Minor Explosion any time the enemy has a wooden or flammable weakpoint, for example the catapults and ballistas. Go with Lava Mama, go with fire!

Finish the barrels. Once we have them we can use them as obstacles or temporary walls to direct traffic. on the battlefield. Then set the walls on fire. If we don't break up the army's formation and bottleneck them we will be overrun.

Send 1/2 of the troops from Anor to New Londo. Even amounts of each type. Then get Koggarach to replenish the troops at Anor. That way the North Giants are defending Giants territory and not dying for Human land.

We should indeed prepare for War. Send Balmagh to the forest with the guerilla unit and show the Humans what Fragarach, the Sword of Stronk, can do!

>Shield research
While making a portable wall out of wood is one thing, making smaller, lighter and durable one-handed shields is another. However, research is started on it and the giants work diligently to get it done. (Progress: 1/2)
>Hex: Minor Swamp
Shaman Wor's ritual finishes, causing the land to turn muddy and swampy around the ambush site. No troops will be getting around the blockade anytime soon, meaning Amberly will no longer be able to reinforce its troop supplies.
>Finishing barrel research
Your research on barrel making is finished! You also learn how to make wooden crates, which you can put all sorts of stuff inside! (Tech learned: Storage I)
>The ambush
Your four priestesses and four slingers get into position to do a night raid on a convoy they spotted. The trick would be to wait until they attempt to go around the boulders and snipe them from cover and it works perfectly. The swamp bogged down the troops to the point that they were sitting ducks to the slingers and acolytes who rained death upon them from their hiding places. The giants captured a single catapult and killed the entire escort, getting 10 bronze human lamellar armor (does not fit), 8 bronze shortspears, 5 iron human heavy armor (also does not fit), 8 tiny iron halberds, an icon of faith (grants 50 favor when offered), and 62 silver coins.
>>

Congrats all! Praise to Stronk for our impressive victory.

Given our recent aggression, we will surely be raided as soon as the fort is complete if not sooner. Should we go and try to fuck up their building progress? We could cast Minor Earthquake and do some real damage. Maybe once we get shields just run a priestess in and out real quick to minimize casualties.

So where do you want your totem of defense placed? Also keep in mind that you can offer bronze and iron bars for easy favor which can be used to upgrade your divine spells. You may want to do that soon.
>>
>>256783
I say we put the totem of defense in New Londo. It sits further east closer to the humans and it sits on a trail that leads to scarlet gate to the north. If scarlet gate were to fall to the orcs, they would no doubt head south to New Londo. We should also increase the potency of our divine fire spells.
>>
>>256783
Maybe at new londo because the human more likely attack there

Just offer bronze we need iron for better equipment
>>
>>256790
Agree. Offer and upgrade spells. Especially Explosion, Earthquake.

Our temple of the Couple at the Volcano still needs 2 turns of construction. We need the gods on our side!
>>
Are we set on conquering amberly village?
Rather than that we may want to consider taking the resources in the city to make a new town in the mountain pass to the west to other ambush caravans or force passage fees.
If we take amberly our defenses will be split between new Londo and amberly. And I'd assume that the king will be peeved and immediately move to retake it if possible. Week forces would be overrun quick and possibly a quick move to take new Londo.
Plus added demoralization from seeing an entire city disappear may very well inspire nearby towns to not screw with the giants that made amberly disappear.

The trading post is more like a shop than a trade offer. They use silver coins as their currency, although they are also interested in mead and may request other things as well. Here's what they have in stock.

>Scroll of Runic Magic (1 in stock): 1000 silver coins
>Animal Friendship Totem (1 in stock) (can tame one monster, such as a direbear, worg, or other creature): 20 barrels of mead
>Centauric Iron Battleaxe (3 in stock) (+3 atk, bonus against shields): 250 silver coins
>>
>Send 1/2 of the troops from Anor to New Londo. Even amounts of each type. Then get Koggarach to replenish the troops at Anor. That way the North Giants are defending Giants territory and not dying for Human land.

2 Acolytes of Flame
Human Catapult

>New Londo
Balgmar
Armaaga
Elmagh
5 Bronze Heavy Clubsmen
2 Bronze Light Clubsmen
5 Slingers
2 Acolytes of Flame

Is this acceptable?

Cewri Tribe: Stats
(See http://pastebin.com/UgtRDe9f)

>(Free Action) Naming the babby
Gough and Armaaga finally agree on a name: Quelaag. The tribe rejoices. (New hero gained: Quelaag)
>(Free Action) Axe of the Centaurs
You make your first purchase at the trading post: a centauric iron battleaxe. Upon examining it, Strengar notes that the axe is very ornate compared to the simple woodcutting axes that the giants use, and could probably not be produced overnight. Still, he learns a lot from its design. Strengar also equips the axe, and can use it in battle. (New tech gained: [Axes II]) (+1 centauric iron battleaxe, -250 silver coins)
>A new settlement
Seeing as how Anor Londo is at capacity and New Londo will also be soon due to the influx of migrants from Anor Londo, the giants think it would be wise to build a new settlement. 20 giants from Anor Londo would be needed to make sure it gets a successful start, and it will take time to build. However, it's probably best to get it done now before winter sets in. They choose to establish their territory by a lake to the north of New Londo. (Progress: 1/3)
>Shield research
You finally finish your shield research, and can now make all kinds of one-handed shields! (Tech gained: [Shields II])
>Looking for dire bears
Jackpot! You find a dire bear cub, and it happens to be male! Now you can breed dire bear cubs, but reproduction speed is extremely slow while in captivity. Additionally, Wor has developed a tight bond with his adult dire bear, meaning he can ride it into battle! (1 dire bear cub gained!)
>Continuing the temple's construction
Your giants resume construction on the Temple of the Couple. It should be completed soon! (Progress: 2/3)
>Brewing more mead
The giants get hard to work brewing more mead. That animal companionship totem will really come in handy! (+8 mead gained)

>EVENTS:
Your abundance of food has sparked a population boom in both Anor Londo and New Londo! However, room is getting tight and the excess giant popuation from Anor Londo is now spilling into New Londo.
>Troop movement sighted outside Amberly! They're moving northeast!
>>
Whoa it's getting late. Better get to bed, but this means you have plenty of time until tomorrow to think about battle strategies.
>>
>>257020
Have Wor learn of the native fungi and flora. Learn to make a potion we can give to our humans to turn them into suicide berserkers either with heavy melee or explosive barrels (maybe we could do this at the temple? Bersekers brainwashed to fight for Stronk! "Protect the Children of the Couple!")

Make/acquire a staff for Wor to boost him magic

Make offerings to learn some earthquake magic to fuck up their walls and enchant the chief's bow with some fire power

Build stone walls for Anor Londo

Have a naming ceremony for babby. Invite the other giants (and centaurs?) so they will bring gifts

See if the centaurs will buy some of our random shit like tiny leather armor

Build and equip as many small shields as we can
>>
Perhaps we should train more slingers and keep them inside new londo during the fight to keep them safe but still hurl rocks at enemy positions.

IF those troops are indeed moving to new londo

Also need to think of a way to take out the enemys hero if he's joining the invasion
>speak with undead spell to learn what spells he knows if we slay him?
>>
>>257011
Also, send our spy back (why did we recall him anyway?) for some sabotage, or maybe assassinate their hero provided we can trust him. Maybe threaten to turn his senpai into bear food or offer him a farm and some silver if he does well
>>
Don't take prisoners when we raze Amberly. Throw the halflings in the lake and use them for target practice, play swatrock with the corpses of our enemy and feed them to the bears. Do the humans worship our gods?

And if so, to the point of radical action against those heathens down in amberly fukboi town?

Our leader should do something leaderly like creating war cries or chants or songs to help bolster our warriors and inspire terror in our enemies. Similarly, if we stretch hide over open barrels we make drums, and can improve communication and tactics on the battlefield

-Bargaining chips with human empire
-Bear food, Man eating bear as mount and companion for war ? fuck yeah.
-Send them too our neighbor centaur or giant as gift.
>>
>>257319
It would take some turns or expedited when our temple is together, the gods (OP) willing, but it could be good to go by the time we want to hit the other town

>>257313
They definitely need to secure the legacy. We should also have Balgmar and Elmagh marry and babby because strongest warrior and fire priestess is our religion, unless they have a daughter we can have Balgmar marry

We've already tried bargaining with them. Its a bluff but we should still contact the orcs and see what they shit be about
>>

We won't and cant use our human hostage too bargain for truce and amberly ownership

Why even get rid of humans? It allows us to have human spies etc. and mass labor for things like farming.
They didn't revolt and they aren't showing any signs of wanting too.

>>
>>257665
We never threatened to join the orcs. That could change their minds, at least scare them

>>257886
We need to cut our humie population because winter is coming and we need those resources for giants. We can't keep building them new houses while we're dying on in the battlefield. We can't allow them to be normal soldiers because they can rise up. We need to keep full control of our humies. They are not slaves but they are our resources and they breed much faster than us. When it comes to labor, giants are inquestionably better. The food that makes their population grow is the food that can make us grow.
That said, we should give our humies some booze and a little extra food
>>
>>257986
As the guy who argued too much for slavery in the last thread, i disagree now. Keep them as subservients whos dicks we tickle into thinking the giants are great and they are priviledged to be helping the Stronk god
>>
>>258081
I was under the impressions the humans were helping us build and farm and stuff so we can have more soldier giants and less farmer giants. Even if the humans outnumbered us we could still feed them. Winter is only a few turns and we have fire priestesses to keep us warm.

We lose nothing by having them around, but slaughtering them will turn them into martyrs and embolden Amberly.

With enough food and ale the humans won't mind their life amongst giants. They are given security and a fair life. As much as they could hope from a Human King. How long are they from them defending us outright as their leaders, since we provide for them as much as any King?

So far they have not mentioned rebellion. When they needed housing, we built them greater houses.

Their friends and family were soldiers, they knew the risks. Now we rebuild and move on to prevent further deaths among them (and therefore, us).

Just going off what has been established by OP (housing, using one as a spy, learning from Wilbur) we are closer to peace than rebellion. Use it to our advantage.

Also just to clarify since I didn't do a very good job of it:

During combat, if a spellcaster (Wor or Elmagh) participates in a battle, they can cast one of their major spells in combat. So if Elmagh and Wor are both in combat, you can cast one shamanic spell and one divine fire magic spell (they can both attack normally using their basic attacks). I will stagger combat turns this time so you can have some time to cast spells and give orders to troops.
>>
>>258700
Ok, so just so I understand this, we need favor to level up fire magic? What do we need to level up shaman magic?

If we get an action, can we throw out barrels and boulders on the field to setup a Normandy style defense? Like we did on the road by the forest?

According to the pastebin, New Londo contains 22 giants and 65 humans, no humans are soldiers since those died in the siege. This means the Giants outnumber humans 3-to-1. The humans in New Londo are no threat.

>(Free Action) Moving troops
You scramble your soldiers and move 2 slingers, one heavy clubber, one halberdier and one obsidian maceman to New Londo.
>Free action: Bartering with the centaurs
Since the halfling leather armor won't fit the centaurs (they're both too big and their rather unique body structure makes it extremely hard to fit), the centaurs decline your offer.
>A staff for Wor
The giants craft a staff for Wor out of darkwood. When Elmagh gets back from New Londo, she can probably enchant the staff with fire. But for now, it works just fine at enhancing his abilities. (Basic attacks strengthened by 2 atk!)
>Shields, shields, and more shields
Strengar and the blacksmiths, in preparation for attacks, quickly pound out some sturdy, round shields made of bronze. They make 15, which are equipped by your clubsmen and macemen (halberds and Fragarach are two-handed weapons and thus you can't wear a shield with them). (-30 bronze bars, +15 bronze shields)
>Alchemy Research
Shaman Wor begins research with examining the effects of the local herbs on wildlife and the halfling prisoners from Amberly. (Progress: 1/3)
>More slingers

>RAID!

Your giants prepare themselves for the raid. Armaaga, Elmagh, 11 slingers and 2 acolytes man the walls while Balgmar, 6 heavy clubsmen, 2 light clubsmen, 3 obsidian macemen and 5 halberdiers stand behind the gate and wait for the signal.

As the enemy comes into sight, you see that this is a much larger raid than last time. In addition, you see what you suspect to be a battlemage what looks to be a magical shield surrounding him. With the wizard is one phalanx of 20 spearmen, two phalanxes of 40 spearmen each, 2 batallions of 10 swordsmen each, 10 mounted archers, a line of 20 regular archers, and a vanguard of 20 horsemen armed with spears. Two catapults sit to the rear of the formation, but aren't yet loaded. From the rear of the formation, the wizard's voice booms loudly as he points his staff towards the village. "I am Sir Crowley of the Knights of the White Rose and master of the storm. You will know regret for taking our land, as I will turn each and every one of you giant fools into ash!"

(Reinforcements!)
The signal fire atop the walls is lit, and Wor and two macemen are en route! (arrival in 2 battle turns)

The first shot is made by Crowley, who fires a bolt of high-powered lightning which narrowly misses Armaaga. If one of those hits, it's probably good night for its unfortunate target! The phalanxes begin their advance, and are pelted by the first volley of stones from the wall. 6 are killed, but the shield wall holds strong. The horsemen hold their position, ready to intercept any who try to flank the formation. Armaaga lets an arrow fly, which bounces off Crowley's shield, although a small crack is visible. The enemy archers then ready a volley, and fire it at the wall, wounding two slingers. The acolytes fling fireballs at the catapults, but the smaller battalion of swordsmen block the shots! Four are burnt to a crisp in the process. Finally, the catapults are loaded and will be ready to fire next turn.

Your slingers retaliate by flinging a volley to the rear line, severely damaging a catapult and doing minor damage to the other. Crowley's shield is also hit, along with some damage to the swordsman line. Armaaga fires another shot at Crowley, denting his shield some more. The catapults loose their volleys, causing heavy damage to the wall. The fire priestesses throw their fireballs at the horseman line, spooking the horses into the formation behind it, breaking it and knocking a few horsemen off their mounts. Additionally, two are set on fire and are killed. However, the infantry lines continue their advance, nearly reaching the gates. Lastly the archers ready another volley which will hit next turn.

[Divine Fire Magic: Explosion]
Elmagh recites a prayer to Lava Mama, and the air near the least harmed catapult is sucked into a vortex before expanding violently into a fiery explosion. The catapult was completely ruined by the explosion, and Crowley's shield took quite a bit of damage too.

[Hermetic Magic: Tempest]
Seeing the situation worsen, Crowley raises his hand into the air. Dark clouds form in the air and a torrential rain pours down from the heavens. Lightning surges through the clouds, threatening to electrify anything below. (Fire magic weakened, lightning magic strengthened!)

Despite getting rained on, the infantry lines push forward and start pounding on the gates. In an effort to stop them, the giants throw barrels, rocks, whatever they can find down through the kill spot underneath the gate. This works tremendously well, and 12 spearmen are killed. The horsemen move from the front to the rear to reform their ranks, and the archers let loose a volley of arrows towards the wall, injuring an acolyte and killing a slinger. You see ladders being brought out as the phalanxes hit the wall. The situation looked grim, when suddenly...

[Shamanic Magic: Minor Swamp]

The ground around the wall starts to soften and, combined with the rain, creates a great swamp around the walls, hindering progress greatly! The slingers use this to their advantage, throwing another barrage of rocks and barrels downward into the mass of spearmen and swordsmen. 10 more swordsmen and 7 spearmen are killed in the ensuing chaos. The fire priestesses focused their power on the catapults, and although their spells were significantly weakened, they were able to bring down the second catapult. Crowley furiously begins building up a great deal of lightning in his hands as the tables turn.

Balgmar nervously awaits the signal to charge.

Crowley reels back his fist and throws a punch in the direction of the gates. As he does so, a blast of sheer electric force hits the gates with a deafening boom, and the shockwave blasts a huge hole in them.

The mounted archers break formation with the other archers and rush the gate with the rest of the infantry. Two slingers are able to take advantage the of the kill spot, smashing five spearmen and a horseman, while the rest focus on Crowley. The fire priestesses join in, bringing the shield nearly to the breaking point. However, the human troops are now flooding in through the gates. Balgmar and the giant infantry spring into action, forming a defensive line that prevents the humans from advancing any further into New Londo. They're able to hold the line, killing six spearmen and two horsemen, although two light clubsmen are wounded and another light clubsman is skewered by three spearmen. Shaman Wor seizes the opportunity and charges into battle in a flanking position with the now undefended archery line. His dire bear and the macemen then proceed to rip through the line, killing four archers and putting the rest in grave danger.

>Turn Six:

Balgmar and Fragarach get to work on the inside of the walls. He jumps high in the air into the middle of the invasion force, completely crushing one soldier. He then spins his sword around in a whirlwind attack, killing six spearmen and clearing the way for the rest of the giants to advance out of the gates. The rest of the forces then engage the enemy killing the rest of the spearmen, although a mounted archer manages to shoot an arrow through the heart of a halberdier.

Armagga carefully aims and takes a shot at Crowley's shield, which shatters and dissipates as it is unable to take any more strain. Crowley, split between an angry bear-riding shaman charging him and incoming volleys of fireballs, orders a retreat. "This isn't over. The Knights of the White Rose will..." At that moment, the wizard is shot with an arrow through the shoulder, wounding him and causing him to collapse before he winks out of existence. The rest of the army, without a leader, splits and makes a run for it back to Amberly. You won this fight against an army nearly 5 times your size, but sustained much more casualties than before. In addition, much of the southern gate of New Londo lies in ruins. In addition, there is no sign of Crowley anywhere.

(Giant military strength: 26 (2 slingers wounded, 1 priestess of fire wounded, 2 light clubsmen wounded. Two slingers, one heavy clubsman, and one halberdier dead.)

Melt down all of the Bronze and Iron item but whipe our shit on the icon and out it on the battle field.

Start rebuilding the gate reenforcing it with some bronze plates and some gate defenses.
Use our Iron bars to start making Iron pick axes to start building a better copper and tin mine near Anor Londo.

So naturally we're going to break down and recycle the enemy equipment but what should we do with the Icon of Faith and white rose staff? Will Lava Mama be pleased or angered if we offer a icon from another faith and one that is based around lightning.
>>
>>259863
If we destroy it in her cleansing fire...
>>
Before we melt this stuff down maybe we should consider making a small human spec-ops team

Use the bows and some light fast armor and train them in espionage, possibly harass trade caravans

All the stuff us giants can't do easily with our -to sneaky stuff

If Wilbur vouches for the loyalty of them they could be accepted as candidates

Offer freedom and good pay if the squad is a success
>>
>>259863

Icons of faith sometimes pop up as loot during battles and sometimes through trade. You can think of it as a bundle of concentrated faith that's not really directed towards any one religion, which means Lava Mama likes them.

should we give the white rose staff to our shaman our sacrifice it to our gods?

Also don't forget to get all of the materials off of the dead Giants and then bury them in the volcano.

Another anon also mentioned a special ops human regiment, thoughts everyone?
OP have we gained enough loyalty for the humans to have them fight with us?
>>
>>260135
If we don't have enough loyalty then we should try to induct our humans into a religion worshipping Giants

If that doesn't work maybe say that they se defending their villages from plundering
>>
>>260135
Why just the stuff off the bodies, it was explicitly stated that lava mama and stronk dad take food, leather, or bodies living or dead. Sure living is better but why not throw all the corpses into the volcanoe.

Hell we should make it so that ritualistically hauling bodies off the battlefield is one of the things a giant would have to do while training to become an acolyte of flame.
>>
>>260145
I just wanted to salvage the weapons, particularly the halberd
>>
kek I just realized that even when you kill us the dead bodies give us religious Favor which means that KILLING US ONLY MAKES US STRONGER
>>
>>260145
The divine magic users would collect the dead and sort the loot as to prevent magical artifacts slipping through the cracks, they would pay special attention to the ones that are incapacitated and dieing but NOT QUITE all the way dead, we use Divine magic to prolong their lives but not truly heal them, then an acolyte is selected and he is to make a pilgrimage to the volcano carrying the dieing prisoner, to symbolize the weight and the burden of the decisions that lead stronk dad to the volcano, and the preciousness of life like that of lava mama carrying the first hill giant in her Womb, if the acolyte arrives and his prisoner still lives he is to be made into a full member of the order.
>>
>>260162
That would help us in spreading religion and improving our culture.

Maybe we could spread our religion to the humans through this.

(See http://pastebin.com/UgtRDe9f)

>(Free Action): Sending off the fallen
You bid the souls of those fallen in battle farewell as they become one with Lava Mama and are sent to the next life.
>(Free Action): A Second Child
Armaaga is pregnant! She will be bearing a second child. Shaman Wor estimates that it will be born sometime next summer.
>Rebuilding the southern gate
That mage really did a number on the gate! Your giants are not sure how a simple bolt of lightning could do something like that, but Strengar thinks that the lightning produced a shockwave of some sort on impact and that's what destroyed the gate, not the lightning itself. What strange magic. Doesn't beat a good Lava Mama explosion though. Regardless, the giants get to work on picking up the pieces and restoring the gate. (-3 stone) (Progress: 1/2)
>Finishing the temple
Now that there is no imminent threat of a raid, the giants get back to the Sanctuary of Lava Mama to finish the temple. A great stone temple with intricate carvings and motifs is completed, which will be useful in training new units in the ways of Stronk Dad and Lava Mama. As reward for your efforts, you see you have some presents in the offering altar from Lava Mama and Stronk Dad. (Temple of the Couple completed in the Sanctuary of Lava Mama) (+5 gold bars, +5 silver bars)
>Offering to Lava Mama
You smelt all the bronze weapons and junk you gained in the last battle and offer it to Lava Mama and Stronk Dad. You also smelt the iron armor. (+32 iron bars, -1 icon of faith, +1360 favor)
>Researching hexes
Wor, seeing the utility of his swamp spell, gets to researching how to fine-tune his hexes. Maybe he can create other kinds of useful spells too? (Progress: 1/3)

>EVENTS:
-The wandering traders are in town! This season, they offer the following deals:
>50 stone for 250 silver coins
>Knowledge of a secret in the swamp south of Amberly for 500 silver coins
>A bundle of one ruby, three emeralds and 5 sapphires for 300 gold
>A tablet of shamanic blessings (levels up the shamanic blessings school)
-Your dire bear cub has reached adulthood and can now breed with the other dire bear! (+1 dire bear population at the start of every season)
-Your burgeoning population, both human and giant, are demanding more food! Food consumption per turn increased by 1.
-Winter will arrive in two turns. Are you ready?
>>
>>260168
Anybody that comes to the mountain bearing a tied living prisoner will be told the story of stronk dad and lava mama over a gallon of giant mead and a place to rest, any Giant that makes the same pilgrimage will be offered a place to live and stay among our society as well as the oprotunity to become an acolyte (gods willing)
>>
>>260135
Not quite, though all the times you've defended them are helping.

>>260162
Adding that to culture

Anyway I'm updating the pastebin, archiving the thread and going to bed. New thread tomorrow.

One more thing: They want the White Rose Staff for the tablet of shamanic blessings.
>>
And to give you something to do while I'm gone: There are four months in the giant calendar, each corresponding to Winter, Spring, Summer and Fall (so instead of being one month in real life the whole season is the month). Care to give these months a name?
>>
>>260168
>to symbolize the weight and the burden of the decisions that lead stronk dad to the volcano, and the preciousness of life like that of lava mama carrying the first hill giant in her Womb, if the acolyte arrives and his prisoner still lives he is to be made into a full member of the order.

Including the lessons of Lava Mama and Stronk Dad in the pilgrimage is awesome. Let any and all who complete the pilgrimage find a place to rest among the gods!
>>
>>260189
>month of the momma (spring)
>month of the son (summer)
>month of the beasts (fall)
>month of the death (winter)

Thinking about writing the story of the first hill giant
The way I look at it all hill giants are decentants of lava mama and stronk dad and we all have the potential to become gods, but after stronk dad and lava mamas child "the first hill giant" lava mama never took another husband in our cannon that is, other giants believe other things and the truth is that lava mama is a massive whore and banged every demigod she met the first hill giant named "stronkborn" had many many wives and conquered many things that I will elaborate on later. we also Ignore the fact that there WERE no female hill Giants at the time and the real "stronkborn" was probably just banging storm or fire giantess', some theorize that hill giants are just a mutt mix of many other types of giant

I would say yes on all of these things because
-we need more stone for building cities
-getting better shamanic magic is a no brained
-A secret in the swamp could help us in fighting the enemy
- Those gems could make a sick crown and/or offerings to the Gods
>>
>>260213
Well thank you, I feel they fit the Giants simple approach to most problems
If you want to hit stuff you hit something
if you are hungry you eat something
>>
>>260212
I spoilered that part, we don't believe the parts I put in spoilers. I was trying to tell our story and the real story at the same time. No religion is ENTIRELY factual, if you would rather I not include that kind of stuff I won't but i figured by including that lava mama hooked up with other demigods I am implying that she had other children, thus the origin of other giants.

I included the genetics part for the science crowd I like my religion and magic to be semi explainable
>>
>>260218
Oh ok I read it like, "we think she's cool but in reality she's a huge slut"

But in the lore she and Stronk were already members of a tribe of giants, but were exiled (like our tribe was) because they fell in love. Lava Mama became a goddess when she prayed to the Spirit of the Mountain (which sounds greater than a god) and was given the power of the spirit to become a god. Her favor with the spirit led her child into the world. Her favor was gained from loving Stronk and them fighting to the death to save their love.

So them being into polyamory is counter to the moral in the lore. The same moral and lore that is now in the pilgrimage too.
>>
>>260233
Never explicitly stated that they were giants, I figured they were some kind of demigods in some early primordial demigod tribe
>>
>>260218
Hmm I like the idea of a falsehood in there cuz not every religion is factual and there's darkness in a lot of history.

The exile part sounds like it would have been twisted over time. We believe they left for lovebut the tribe they came from believes they were exiled for trying to assassinate their chief

it's not often a romeo and juliet story can produce something as badass as our hill giants we shouldn't throw it away
>>
>>260236
That's a good point I always just assumed they were giants too and their fire priestess ascended into Lava Mama and that's why we worshipped her is cuz they were giants who had ascended to Godhood (implying our giants could ascend, too, like you said)
>>
>>260037
Maybe see if we can get a centaur hero?

I like the idea of getting humies into our religion. They will serve better if they recognize us as the children of gods. Also, still wanting to make some brainwashed berserkers to put on the front line

Let's boost our yak herd before winter

I'm against trusting the humans too much, but I think we should turn the catapult we have into a stationary defensive turret manned by Wilbur and a couple other men

It could also be interesting to start feeding our dead enemies to the ward packs in the forest so they will favor us and learn to like the taste of humans. Training them takes too much time

Saddle and armor our new bear and train one of our heros to ride. Try to breed it as well
>>
>>260249
+1 to all dis
>>
So how does breeding work in this universe, can humanoid races breed, like hafling x human, or giant x human or even centaur x giant?
>>
>giant centaurs

Pls let that be our calvary
Galloping around the defense then archering the back with sharpened tree trunk arrows

Also +1 to all that
>>
>>260344
>>260376
I am deeply concerned at your interest in the possibility of breeding with horse kin. Giants are the perfect form and to breed with other species would be debauchery of the highest caliber and it would serve no purpose.
>>
>>260344
>>260376
>>260605
We are giantkind, not mordor's horde.
But the idea of boosting our yaks and manning the catapult is a good idea.
Also maybe lets build a quarry in New Londo for our humans to hew out more stone for us.
We need to build some living space for giants and have them breed while we can... we are getting outnumbered pretty heavily having pissed off the humans enough
>>
>>260684
I agree with all of this.
>>
>>260684
>Also maybe lets build a quarry in New Londo for our humans to hew out more stone for us.
>We need to build some living space for giants and have them breed while we can... we are getting outnumbered pretty heavily having pissed off the humans enough

We can build the quarry at the new settlement we talked about. Then move 1/2 the humans there (to prevent outnumbering). We could also focus that new town on building a military and breeding.

Kill 3 birds with 1 hurled rock

>>

But if we divide the humans they will eventually outnumber the Giants as well.
>>
>>260938
But our population is growing at 2x their rate and we are at least 2x as strong as the humans so I don't think there's a threat of our humans overrunning us if that's what you're afraid of

>>261013
They could overrun us with help from the king

>>
>>260895
I think forcefully migrating them will piss them off even more? Also it doesn't matter that much if they outnumber us seeing as we are armed and they have nothing. We should just treat them well and later just integrate them in our army.
Also we should stick the humans with the farms cause I think the mines will be more efficient with giants.
>>
>>257011
They choose to establish their territory by a lake to the north of New Londo. (Progress: 1/3)

Can we call it Ash Lake?

>>261040
There would only be 34 humies per town and they are not military-trained. And 20 giants per town. You're right even if they rose up they wouldn't pose a threat. And the beer helps prevent that too.

>>261083
Good point about migration. Maybe offer it first, as a chance to get away from the frontlines?
>>
We should also start cladding our walls in bronze plates/other weak metal shit we find so lightning will be ineffective because it will short into the ground
