Last thread, the Counsel State of Valornia had absorbed the Spheal, the Kingdom of Becari formed out of the former Mankey tribe, the Duchy of Karovia came to be from the Zubat, you made a map of the coast of the continent to the south, made contact with the Kingdom of Kells, got official permanent contact with the Duchy of Belvin, learn of the Kingdom of Zureis' past and are now trying to contact the Galliem order and the Duchy of Juln.

---

Current actions:

Colonizing the Turtwig Island - 6

Building roads - 4

Refining guns - 12

Surveying the land for Salt - 2

Contacting the Galliem Order - 2

---
!NEW! - BUDGET

Due to the Krystal becoming the majority currency of the island, you now have to use it to pay for certain things: your military, your navy and your buildings.

You must balance your expenses with income from trade goods and trade ships, markets and ports and other things in the future eras.

For the budget formula (not up to date) - http://pastebin.com/Lvc82Unw
>>
>>241003

Your diplomats have made it to the Duchy of Juln.

They meet you with warm arms, already hearing of Valornia from Belvin and Lautsburg in the east and are willing to answer your questions.

What are your orders? What are your questions?
>>
>>241003
Forgot some of the other actions in progress:

Building a Basilica in Jakoelfton - 6

Researching Police - 9

Colonizing Dye Island - 4

Special Weapon for Dark types - 6

Researching Magnetism - 14
>>
>>241003
neat. I guess let's build some trade ships?

Remind me who the Juln are?

You build trade ships. It will take 3 rounds for this to be finished. It will cost 2500 KYR to build 3.

The Duchy of Juln are the Houndour on the map.
>>
>>241970
Hmm, ask why no one really likes Belvin. I know we heard it from Belvin, but I wanna get an another opinion. Just to make sure they aren't sketchy
>>
>>242060

(I should add this) - Current Krystal - 37,500 KYR

=----=----=

You ask the Julnian diplomats what their take on the Duchy of Belvin is. You also ask why no one likes Belvin.

They respond by noting that the Duchy is a source of great help and the strongest kingdom on the south shore despite its rather poor military strength. They also note the reason they all still exist on the southern shore still is because of Belvin and they're brilliant tactics which favor stalemates of winning and forcing the enemy to grind to a halt.

They also note that Belvin isn't the only one disliked, their ally, Lautsburg, Juln, the Duchy of Revinsburg to the north and the Kingdom of Ketz to the west. All of the kingdoms combined are equally hated although Belvin more-so for being a make-shift "leader" of the small group on the south shore.
>>
>>242092
Try contacting the dewott nation.
>>
>>242100

You contact the Dewott nation and they introduce themselves as the Kingdom of Saksford.

What do you wish to discuss?

---

You have found one resource of salt in province 19. You may build a mine to access it.

---

You have gotten in contact with the Galliem Order. What do wish to discuss?
>>
Discuss the kingdom joining us.
>>
>>242275
Which kingdom? Saksford or Juln?
>>
>>242357
Which one is Satsford
>>
>>242377
Dewotts.
>>242170
Build a mine. Discuss what benefits might come to us if we give the Belvin and the other southern kingdoms a helping hand against Zureis(?).

Ask the Dewotts about their culture and trade goods.
>>
>>242384
You start building a salt mine in province 12, it will take 4 rounds.

---
>>242275
>>242384

You open discussion with the Kingdom of Saksford about Belvin and the southern coast kingdoms. They respond by stating that while they haven't been a problem with them personally, other kingdoms like Kells and Zureis despise them and wish to annihilate them and absorb their land as well but while this is all fine to the Saksford crown, genocide isn't a great solution and would more likely anger Arceus.

When asked if there was every a war between the south and the north, would they help the southern kingdoms?

They answered that they would stay neutral and keep out of the Zureisian war path- their military is strong but has flaws.

You ask about their culture and their trade goods.

Their culture is Albaan (English) and their trade goods are Wheat, Chalk, Lumber, Corn, Potatoes, and Elemental Gems.
>>
>>242442
What's the status of all our on going projects?
>>
>>242442
Elemental gems? Can we see some in exchange for some coffee?
>>
>>242449

Current projects:

Colonizing the Turtwig Island – 4
Building roads – 2
Refining guns - 10
Basilica – 2
Police – 8
Magnets – 13
Dark weapon – 4
Colonize dye island – 1
Integrate natu – 16

---

The elemental gems they have are Water, Ice, Grass and Bug Gems. You offer Coffee as a trade item for the gems and they offer to give Grass and Bug Gems to you.

Do you accept?

Can we ask the Duchy of Belvin to prove their good intentions with us through some sort of trade agreement? That we will be their primary supplier of one or more trade goods?

Wait, did land filling get done? And also methods for evolving some mons? How about the crossbreeding program?
If the former is done, connect provinces 52/53 with 54. It'll take a load of soil for a nation in the 1600s, but I think we can do it.

Also, breed more Abra, and make more War Psions.

Same with the land filling only 5 rounds instead.

You breed more Abra, the pop rises by 30. You also train more War Psion, which will cost 2000 KYR and take 3 rounds.

Speaking of water, the underwater exploration is done. They have so far found no underwater civs although they have found the ruins of one. You may start digging for artifacts, you may learn something.

Also, the water around the smaller isles is around 60 Meters deep.

=---=---=

You have colonized the island with DYES. You may name the island now.

Ws should incorporate the natu and butterfree into us, after all they are already vassal states. Maybe also begins talks of a royal marriage with the kingdom of Baccarvi.
>>
>>243316
We've already done both of those things. We're integrating the Natu atm and we can only integrate one vassal state at a time.

Start exploring the underwater ruins (but be wary of Kyogre). Tell the Duchy that we'll supply them with coffee and silk, assuming they have neither/we've colonized the coffee lands.
>>
Maybe we could do the same for sandshrew? After all they are tiny in comparison to us. We should send diplomats to them and the Pachirisu. They have much to gain from joining us.

What >245534 said. You can also do political things (modify the government), religious (reforms and such) and others. As long as it's doable (which I will say if it is or isn't) and affordable.

Try not to go crazy though, be a little realistic. It's only the 1500s.

EVENT: The Zureisians

It seems that you're spy sent to Zureis was caught pretty quickly which can only mean god tidings for you as the only reason you know is because an armada of 15 Barques and 10 Carracks with your spy in chains.

The men who brought your spy over are quite livid at these turn of events and are not happy with Valornia at the moment. Along with the soldiers was a diplomat who was... wanting to talk to Magnus about certain things.

The diplomat, a Roselia named George, demands to meet Magnus.

What will you do?
>>
>>249915
Allow the Diplomat in to speak.
>>
>>249918
You give the diplomat a chance to speak to Magnus. The old Drapion was not pleased at these turn of events but is willing to hear out any visiting diplomats.

"Your... lordship? My name is George and I represent the crown of Zureis, King Christopher III and I have to say- he's quite mad that a rather small nation like yours has been... poking around where it doesn't belong."

"Yes, we know, we sent a spy and he got caught. Do you want an apology?"

"Well yes but our king wants more than that. He's been eying the south shore of Haven Island and has seen this smaller isle as a nice starting point for a campaign. Of course, with your nation here, he can't just waltz in and make a fort but you have built one for us. Let us use it and grant us unlimited access to your waters and land and you may never see us again."

It seems that the Zureisians don't know of your contact with Belvin and Juln.

Your response?

Suggestions:

>How do I know your king will keep his word?
>How about you leave my sight and forget my apology.
>Why does your king want the south shore?
>Write in
>>
>>249932
>>Why does your king want the south shore?

>How do I know your king will keep his word?
>>
>>249936

"Why does you king want the south shore? And how do I know your king will keep his word?"

"Hmm... The reason my king wants the south shore is simple- the Dark-types that live there subjagate all the other types that live there. If you don't believe me, go there yourself and don't tell them you're the leader of state such as this, they will mock you you for what you are and shun you without a word."

Magnus chooses not to tell George of the fact you already have been in contact with both Belvin and Juln and have yet to get a report of things like this happening- the opposite in fact considering during the time those Belvin mappers, it was stated by many how well mannered they are. Something to wonder about later.

"About the word of your king?"

"You should trust our kings word, he has no reason to renege on a deal that favors him."

"I don't mean that part- it's the, 'You'll never have to see us again' part that irks me."

"Ah that. Exaggerated a little. Now that we're in contact, we'll obviously see each other again but not in this manner- not unless you try to play your little games again."

What do you say now?

>Mention contact with south shore nations
>Negotiate the deal
>Write In
>>
>>249947

You can station an army in our fort and we will not attack you if you sail your ships through our waters.

In return however, you need to pay us a "rent" for harboring your troops and must share one piece of technology with us.
>>
>>249958

"You may station your army in our fort and sail through out waters."

"Excellent."

"But in exchange, we want a stipend for using our fort."

"Considering your position, you don't have a leg to stand on."

"No. It's you who has no leg to stand on. Your king could not wipe a small religious order off the map and it's within your own borders. What makes you think that our state is no different? Unlike the Galliem Order, you have to sail here to face us and then land your troops as well. You may beat us in a naval race but in an army landing? We'll make sure you're lives are pure hell."

"...I'll see what I can do."

"One last thing."

"What is it?"

"We want something of value. An invention, a weapon design. Whatever you may consider advanced."

"That is something I will have to refuse."

"If you don't give something, then this talk is over."

"I hate to say this but if you don't accept the deal I've put forward... we'll blast you're main port apart."

What will you do?

>Accept
>Refuse and face the losses.

Submission. Now that's a bit of a problem. See, rumor has it . . . The Banette have already turned you down. And if those heathens and spooksters have found that kind of nerve, then, well we Valornians have our reputation to consider.

*Magnus looks back to Heidi*

*She nods*

"Land and water? You'll find plenty of both at the bottom of our lake. You bring ships to my city steps. You insult my nation. You threaten my people with war and death.Oh I've chosen my words carefully Zureisian. Perhaps you should have done the same."

Kill the diplomat, have the Spheal forces we command or even the civilians use surf to fuck with their navy. Send whatever combat ready ships we have into battle. Have the flying types air bomb their ships.

Fuck, this is why I wanted to send our sneakiest spy there!

>>249995
I don't think we should either. This puts us in a good position to double-cross them later.
>>
>>249999
We're not giving them that land though, else they could find that southern continent, making it a bitch to attack them later.
What we need right now, is a good bluff.
>>
>>250275
If we can convince them to invest heavily in the south, that can further divide their forces. Who knows if they'd run into hostility down south and force themselves to split their military
>>
>>250298
Perhaps we could convince them that the south isn't worthy of investment, that the north is a better option?
>>
>>250535
I'm really not sure what to do here. The southern continent is already housing nations with harbors, clearly.

Perhaps we could try to direct Zureis into hostilities while pretending submission?
>>
>>250698
we're already in a bad position with them, but we could always consider lying if they discover something (like psh oh those guys are a real doozy, I wouldn't go with anything less than a bunch of battle ships and men!) or lie and say we couldn't find anything down there. We could even keep referring to our island as the southernmost land in the world or something
>>
>>250802
Hmm, what if we make up a lie, that the world is actually flat? and south of our nation, there's a dragon that will eat up any ship?

Great ideas here. I'll let it sit till 4:30 P.M then I'll see where we go from there.
>>
How about we destroy the fort from withen. We offer the soldiers alcohol and pleasures everyday that they are on duty, softening their resolve. We carve secret passages in which we can watch and listen. We could even pull a Viet Cong tactic and have escorts be with the soldiers, and then tell us everything.

Let's try to change these soldiers faith and loyalty by requiring that's they attend preaching a by our Church.
>>
>>251608
That's one for screwing them over culturally...

>>250802
And one for misdirection.

((This thread has been slow, this will be the last thing I do this thread before I open another tomorrow.))

"Hmph... fine, we accept your deal for now. Though there is something I neglected to tell you."

"And what is it? Speak up now."

"You may think you hold all the cards but our lands to the south, even further than this island, are where we hold our cards. Why don't you go see for yourself?"

"Are you saying you have another island that you hold to the south? Interesting. The king will want to hear this. Thank you for telling us. Hehe, and thanks for... having this talk with me."

"Don't be more a bother and leave before I take my decision back."

"Right, right. You brutes are all the same..."

George left the buildings carrying his arrogance and squad of soldiers with him, leaving the spy behind.

For now, the Zuriesians have access to your waters and are sharing your fort in Chrabrost. What you do with them in Chrabrost is up to you, but for now, you will bide your time and hope the Zuriesians do not find out about your contact with Belvin.

=---=---=

You have researched LANDFILLING. You may now make small changes to coastlines and create small artificial islands.

You have researched a special weapon for DARK-TYPES- the SCOPED LENS FLINTLOCK MUSKET requires a Dark-type for the Lens to function properly. When equipped to a Dark-type, the musket has accuracy of 80% and does 65 damage. With this weapon, you may train special Sneasel, Murkrow, and Purrloin units.

=---=---=

That should be it for this thread. A slow weekend but some things have been done but now the Zuriesians are onto you. Next thread will be interesting.
