Hey guys, let me know when you get here
>>
>>217595
Miellewds-guy here.
What happened yesterday?
>>
>>217595
And if we're marrying Miel, is it assumed that we'll also be marrying Miel II?
She got a chance to speak with her younger sisters during the Miel World Tour, right?

Speaking of which, how did the pacification campaigns in the jungles of Heven and Lapsiona go?

And is Alonso going to evolve into a Sundered?
>>
>>217610
>What happened yesterday?

"Please arrive at 8am for the doctor"
"...okay"

*arrives at 7:45*
*Theres already 20 ppl in line*

"Miss nurse? I just need the doctor to sign up this recipe that just expired. It will take like 30 seconds, top"
"You have to wait, sir."
"But, seriously, just like 30 seconds..."
"You.have.to.wait.or.im.calling.security"

Thus i had to wait

In Heven case, the troops leveled up to about 50, which is 'high' for the average of people in the world
In Lapsiona. it was more people, but lower level, going to late 30's which is 'okay'

It was 1 Goliath, 2 Sundered.
One of the Sundered votes came in after you signed off, but you didn't say which one had won.

uhmm okay i guess?

The light goes off as Alonso steps out. He's almost a foot taller now, and he looks... stretched. His arms, legs, torse, fingers... his whole structure looks slightly stretched, so to speak. It is not unnatural, but having known him before his 'evolution' makes a big difference.

That is to say, if he was this way to begin with, we wouldnt really find anything particular about him. Humans come in lots of shapes, after all. Perhaps we would think he's a thin..

"How do you feel?" -asks Verdi as he turns off the containment field

Since it isolates the individual from the rest of the world, I wonder if it should be called isolation field? to be honest, they both sound super ominous, no?

Containment
Isolation

"Uhm.. am I taller? things look smaller."
"Yes, you are around a foot taller now." -says Lyann as she hands him a mirror
"Such a small mirror."
"Your hand is longer."
"Is that so?"

He looks at himself

"This is me, right?" -he blinks, moves his face around- "Its odd. Aah... my head hurts a little."

"Blessing breeze, blow in energy!" -Lyann applies a 3rd rank healing spell

Right, when we met her, she was already over 12 years old, so she had a hard time learning chantless magic. She couldnt learn to do chantless heals, but considering most people can't do chantless anything, this isn't too bad.

"Is it better?" -she asks
"It doesn't hurt anymore, but I feel itchy..."
"Uhmm... why don't you take a seat, and we'll take a closer look?" -suggests Verdi as he frees a chair for Alonso
"Alright, thanks."

"A-aaah!" -he holds his hands against his temples shortly after sitting.
"Blessing breeze, blow in energy!" -Lyann heals him again
"Ah.. what---"

All of a sudden, he has horns growing out of his head. They're not ram horns like that of a succubus, but rather look more like those of Tanis.

"Don't touch them!" -cries out Verdi as he hurries over with the examination gear
"They don't hurt..."

"It feels somehow natural, you know? I think that's why I'm calm." -he says
"Uhm?" -Lyann looks at him
"Well, you just said 'he looks pretty calm' didn't you?"
"No, I just thought it." -says the redhead
"Is that so?" -he leans back on the chair without anyone asking as Verdi approaches

"Ah..."
"Yes, sure."
"Alright."

He was going to ask if he could scratch a bit of horn.

"So it's not bone?" -says Alonso before Verdi announces it
"Right, it's..."
"keratin." -says Alonso- "Nail stuff, uh?"
"Right."

"I don't want to go back." -he says suddenly- "You were going to suggest turning me back, but I feel fine."

"Oh, you are actually worried about me. You are pretty kind, uh miss?" -he says to Lyann

So.. he can hear surface thoughts, it seems. Can he read memories?

"I can't?"

Interesting...

"Y-you think with many voices! weird, it feels weird!" -he says as he looks at us
"I see... well, we still need to try and turn you back, you know? then you'll be free to go. Your horns or your freedom, what do you prefer?"
"...uhhh... I see."

That's when we realized... we can't turn him back.
His class is properly villager now, but apparently he can't de-evolve.

Oh, his class level went down from 50 to 10, but his job levels are still there.

So, evolving ate at his class levels only, uh?

But, he can't access them while he's a 'monster'.

As soon as he's a villager again, though, there was no problem.

"Can you party with me for a bit? I want to look at your skills."
"...alright."

Of course, his skills when he's a monster rather than a villager.

Passive: <Thought perception>

Well, no surprise there

Active: <Creator Race>

Uh,,, let's see the skills of this submenu..

<Character Creation>
<Character Editor>
<Attribute Distribution>
<[UNAVAILABLE]>

The names of the skills are... fuzzy. And they keep sort of fading back and forth. Furthermore, one just says 'unavailable'

The hell?

That sounds really strong, yet useless in actual combat...

What should we say?

Keeping the guy around is honestly a dick move.
Going to the Heavenly Empire is pretty much this guy's big break, and we'd be keeping him around as an experimental subject.

And we can just ask the Lady about the Sundered and the Active Skills when we go to meet with her in about a month.

Eh dont tell me, my vote doesnt counts. I already have some funny ideas in mind if he goes to the empire though, like Ren using him to make the lion guards extra fluffy and changing the shadows into red lions.
>>

Well, it can be solved by handing him over to Mako or Ren as their slave, right? I have a feeling he wouldn't find it disagreable.

"You are right." -he says when we look at him.

I see, so he could read my mind.

"Oh, he seems like a respectable person." -comments Alonso as we think of General Li

Well, the impression he's given us is 'a mass of honor' isn't it?

"You are okay with that?"
"I believe it's fine." -he says

Lyann, Verdi, Mako, and everyone else is a bit confused.

Well, most of the conversation seemed one-sided from their point of view.

Now, we know that humans can evolve into some sort of lost race, at the cost of 40 class levels.

But, 40 class levels are not that hard to reach. The 'class' Sundered seems to have been locked away in a half-assed manner, you know?

If you were going to go to this lenghts, you should have delected it, you shitty devs!

Its as if you were hoping the users would finish your job for you. What is this, a Bethesda game?

Ah, what should we do now?

Should we escort Mako back home and deliver Alonso to general Li? I guess that makes sense.

And so, we [Treestride] to the peach tree we know so well...

(back in 20)
>>
Wait, is that class how that one dude went [ERROR]!?
>>

No, pretty sure that was due to merging with a Dungeon Heart, which are meant to contain [ERROR]'s.
>>

>>
We emerge in the imperial garden together with Mako, her shadows, and Alonso.

"T-to think this is really the empire..." -Alonso seems quite affected
"Eldric, let's go play in the garden!" -says Mako while she softly pulls from our sleeve
"Ah, first we need to fid general Li." -we say while gently holding and caressing her hand

Mako blushes softly, and nods.

"O-okay"

It isn't hard to find the general, since asking one soldier leads us to an officer then to a higher ranking one and finally to the general's office.

Well, rather than an office, he has a small pavillion where he has a large space for officers and rack shelfs. It looks like quite the busy place as the officers update and keep a miniature map of the empire on the floor before the general's desk.

By looking at it, we can easily understand that it represents the troops of the empire and their deployment.

There's small icons for foot troops and round ones atop tall needles for rockitships. I wonder what the white tokens represent?

The model is quite complete. There's even lines representing the roads and small houses representing a town each.

The empire seems a lot more populous than we thought it was.

The general looks up from his documents when an aide leans over and speaks to him. As he notices us, he thanks his aide, stands up and walks over to us.

"Your highness, are your classes done for today?" -rather then bowing, he crouches so his head is permanently lower than Mako's

He would totally be the super doting grandfather type, wouldn't he?
"Yes!" -nods the beautiful princess as she smiles
"Duke, this is the first time you come to my office. Is there something you want?"
"Ah..."

>>>Just explain about Alonso

We explain about Alonso. The general seems quite interested, and decides to assign him to the palace gate.

Well, since he can read surface thoughts, that makes him an excellent judge of character to decide who has bad intentions and who doesn't.

It also probably keeps him away from delicate information centers such as the general's office.

Alonso seems to understand, and doesn't complains. He seems rather pleased with being assigned a post so soon, and promises to do his absolute best.

"Well, the new furnaces are working much better than the old ones. Production is much faster, and at this rate the entire palace staff will have glassteel weapons in a month." -the general explains

A month, uh? that's not too long.

"We are not sure about armors, to be honest. The artisans would have to change the molds, and that, i've been told, means crafting an original piece, then molding it, and repeating the process for every single armor part, plus every size of armor. It is not as standard as making a longsword, for example."

I see. Indeed, weapons may be standard, but armors come in as many sizes as soldiers do. Well, most of the lion guards seem to be roughly the same size, but some variations will exist.

"I see, then..."

>Perhaps we should continue production of glassteel weapons for the rest of the army
>It cant be helped. At least once the molds are done, they can be reused so it will only take time once

>>
>>218383
>It cant be helped. At least once the molds are done, they can be reused so it will only take time once
However we should still be producing weapons fast enough that every unit in the empire gets five or six a week, until they are the empires standardized weapon.

btw a friend asked me "why didnt you made your fantasy material lighter than steel?"

Because of inertia. If your weapon is too light, what will happen when it clashes with another weapon?

>>218405
>>218397

"Yes, you are right. It will slow down production while the master craftsmen work on the molds, but it can't be helped. Oh, would you like to inspect the finished weapons?"
"Of course."

The general gestures to one of the guards, and asks for her weapon, then hands it over to us.

I see, so this is glassteel. Indeed, it is nearly transparent, with a light tinge of blue.

[Fine][Glassteel][Longsword][Empty]Empty][Empty]

Enhancement: 115% of dealt damage will be returned to the user as MP

Oh, it looks like a very useful weapon for a caster. Unfortunately, the lion troops are dedicated melee users. It does mean that they can spam their abilities, though, since a single slash should cover their mana costs.

We should explain the general about item slots, right?

Item slots is something known over on the Eastern Continent, and it's something that the Imperial Army is going to find out about once the armies of the member nations of the UN come together to fight the Demon Invasion.

How is delaying the spread of this knowledge going to help us fight the [ERROR]'s and the post-Invasion world?
All it does is show the General that we don't have Ren and Mako's best interests at heart.

I swear you guys sometimes create ties on purpose. Anyway, remember Okaba, Asmund and Alard all know about card slots and have id glasses.
>>
>>218383
Can we not make an enchantment that Shrinks or expands the armour to perfectly fit the body of the first person to shed blood on it?
>>
>>218516
switch me to
>Of course, and hand him a pair of ID glasses so he can see the slots
>>
>>218521
Which with what i am thinking should save time on production since only one mold will need to be made for standard troops. while custom enchantments would need a new mold.
>>
>>218535
But the time to actually enchant the armor would probably negate the advantages, since every single piece of the armor set would need to be enchanted; enchantments can't transfer from the mold to the finished product.

And everyone has different sizes, that's why there needs to be a number of different molds.
There isn't a standard mold that can fit all standard troops; if there was then we wouldn't be having this problem.
>>
>>218446
>>Of course, and hand him a pair of ID glasses so he can see the slots
We need all the advantages we can get
>>
>>218525

After explaining the purpose of the glasses to the general, he hands them over to his aide and tells him to hand them to the army's armory officer for him to separate the weapons by number of card slots.

"This is very valuable indormation. You are truly as helpful as her highness says, duke."

"Thank you for your kind words."

As we leave the general's office, Mako pulls us off to play in the garden, while Alonso bids us farewell.

***

Lets stop here for tonight. I think this is about the time when people start going home, right?

If you are gonna archive the thread please use this as description. "We learn about the Sundered evolution, and talk to general Li, then head off to play with Mako."
>>
>>218561
You seem to have some misconceptions. What i said was as a stop gap measure. a single size armour mold would be made temporarily, Then after the armour is made it would be given the enchantment, any armour needing a different enchantment would need to have a new mold made for its size. at least if it is in a size we don't already have.
Also could we not bring the assembly line process to the world of enchanting? and use mana batteries for the enchantment itself?
>>
>>218622
Of coarse this all hinges on the enchantment not needing much mana to cast all at once.
>>
>>218607
achived and thanks for running
>>
>>218622
That's still a problem where we would still have to have lots of enchanters because each piece of armor would need the enchantment.

Using the mana generators or condensers wouldn't help as much since the enchanter still needs to have a high enough skill level to enchant the armor.
And we would need to research the enchantment since we haven't encountered one like it so far, taking time away from other projects.
>>
>>218649
Oh that remided me of something I wanted to bring up this thread but didnt had time to!

Dungeons eat people
They eat people because they eat mana and people are mana generators
Normally, monsters are spawned out of mana in the air
Since Asmund sold his mana collectors in the area of Albion, monsters are a lot rarer
Was gonna have someone at the adventurer's guild point that monsters are a lo rarer
Then we would mention that and Dawn would mention how monsters rarely ever soawn around sbastia (which is full of mana collectors)
Anyway, that's it. I wanted to mention it, but if I forget to start with it next week, please remind me
>>
>>218919
Is a size-change enchantment even possible?
Would the enchanting bottleneck prove that using a number of standardized armor pieces is the more efficient method?
>>
>>218985
>Would the enchanting bottleneck prove that using a number of standardized armor pieces is the more efficient method?
Good point. Yeah I always thought that using a enchantment slot for something you can do with pure gear is a bad idea
>>
>>218919
>Dungeons eat people
I know that being an Adventurer is still considered to be a high-risk occupation, but what are the casualties like?
And what about the wild Dungeons that don't have regular waves of people dying in them?
>>
>>219926
Dungeons are very energy efficient, they dont need high amounts of energy, and they can normally survive with ambient energy. But eating people is like a vitamin shot or growth hormone injection and it helps them grow a lot.

Basically, wild dungeons tend to grow a lot slower than their city counterparts.

It doesnt means there's no large wild dungeons, just that they would have to be really old.
>>
>>220374
Once Eldric learns that monsters appear from ambient mana, we could set up Mana Condensers all around the Hives in Heven and Lapsiona, in order to make them more secure.

If Asmund has figured out that mana cannon that his dad built, we could also power a defense network of mana turrets to protect the Hives and Eopolis.
>>
>>220711
>Once Eldric learns that monsters appear from ambient mana, we could set up Mana Condensers all around the Hives in Heven and Lapsiona, in order to make them more secure.

Ah, that sounds good. In the long term people will get used to having less monsters around. In the short term adventurers will be forced to hit the foodgeons more since there will be less natural monsters around, though.
>>
>>221123
>>221123
could we also pump a isolation field full of mana spawn our monsters?
>>
>>221985
No because it would be cut off from the world's 'settings'. Each region spawns its own monsters. Without the region's settings, the mana would just float about. https://youtu.be/09cyrQu5yVA
