Your eyes open, and it's nighttime. You try to move your arms, legs, anything, but to no avail. You glance down at your body, and catch a glimpse of its bloody, mangled form. your . Your eyes move back to looking skyward as you exhale. Death is surprisingly cold and painless. Wondering what the point of regaining consciousness before dying is, and how beautiful the stars are, you hear voices speaking. Funny that your hearing even works at this point.
"My deepest apologizes madam. I'm afraid I've soiled your dinner, and on such an important evening no less."
"It's quite alright Gerald. It's not like this is the one time a year I actually ask to have my meals fresh. Besides, he doesn't look like he would have tasted that good anyway."
"Again, I am extremely sorry. Would you like to fetch you some AB-, virgin, from the kitchen?"
"I suppose so. And while your down there..."
You can't tell if the speakers started whispering or your ears are simply starting to fail. The second voice is feminine, annoyed, and unknown to you. However, you recognize the first voice, Gerald, from earlier today.

~Earlier Today~

The rhythm of your bag mixes with that of other bags, along with the sounds stereotypical of an airport. All around you are people walking, running, waving, hugging, kissing, crying, and more. Ahead you see some men holding signs with names. One of them, a rather tall man with grey hair and a mustache as immaculate as his three-piece suit, holds a sign that has yours. What does it say?

"Are you Stanley Morrison?" The man asks as he extends his hand in greeting. "My name is Gerald, the head butler of Ainsworth. If you'll follow me, a car will be waiting for you outside."
As far as first impressions go, Gerald seems to be the most stereotypical butler possible. You didn't think people like him existed. You follow him outside to the parking lot, where a shorter black Bentley limousine is waiting with the back open. As you put your bags in the trunk, you notice that the car has a vanity plate that says "F1D0". You join Gerald inside. The interior is fairly clean and fancy, with two sets leather chairs facing each other, wooden compartment paneling, a window into the driver's area tinted black, and velvet lining pretty much everywhere else. Gerald is sitting in the left front seat reading some forms, and you take the one in the back right. He looks up at you from some forms he was reading, before knocking on the window of the driver. As the limo speeds away a bit haphazardly. Gerald clears his voice.
"Well Mr. Morrison, I must say, you seem to have had a particularly troubled past. I do hope that Ainsworth Manor can provide you with a fresh start."
What exactly is he referring to?

"Yea, I hope so too." you reply. Being around people other than therapists and junkies is nice, but your still not used to it. After a bit of an awkward silence, Gerald speaks up again.
"Would you like some refreshments? The drive to the manor is a bit long." He pulls a bottle of sparkling water from a cooler installed in between the seats on his end and a glass. He pours some and hands it to you, and not wanting to be rude, you grab it and take a few sips. as you look down at the bubbles in your glass, Gerald starts talking.
"Well Mr. Morrison, although you do seem capable enough for many of the menial tasks around the manor, I'm afraid your....situation leaves much to be desired on your resume. I know it this sounds a bit strange, but if you could use too words to describe yourself, what would they be?"

After considering for a moment, you reply. "I guess I'm a pretty knowledgable and friendly guy. At the center, I spent my time reading a lot of books, and I also made friends with other patients." Gerald nods, smiling.
"Both of those qualities will go far at Ainsworth. If you have any questions about the manor, I suggest you ask them now."

"Who is the owner of the manor anyway? And," you pause for a moment to yawn "Sorry. And what kind of staff already works there?" Gerald checks a silver pocket watch with a moth emblem on the back, and begins to reply.
"Yes, the Manor has been under the ownership of the Ainsworth family for hundreds of, and it is currently owner is Lady Beatrice Ainsworth, who you will... meet with when we arrive. Currently we are a bit understaffed, however we hope that your addition will help," Gerald looks back at his watch before snapping it shut and putting it back in his pocket. "Aaannd it appears I no longer have to keep up this charade. Sweet dreams, Mr. Morrison."
Suddenly, you feel very tired. You can barely help from keeping awake as black spots appear in your vision and your eyelids feel like lead. Suddenly, everything goes dark. After what seems like an instant, you wake up. It's nighttime, and you would probably marvel at how nice of a view you have of the moon if weren't strapped to a cold stone table. You start to panic, screaming and shouting before you here footsteps coming nearby. Turning to the source of the sound, you see a rather large man wearing jeans and a leather jacket. His face is heavily scarred and bald, making him look like a henchman out of some bad action movie. He has a smile like a wolf who just saw a lamb wander from the flock.
What do you say to him?

>>

Yeah, and Im betting that in a setting with some supernatural stuff (lady of the manor seems to be a vampire) we've seen a few things even if we were too out of it to realize it wasn't a hallucination.

say... what sort of drug though, one anon suggested alcohol with a soldiering back round, I was thinking morphine, took to high a dose for an injury as a battlefield medic, that combined with the horrors of war led to dependence.
>>
>>215329
I wasn't around in that choice, or I would have went with soldier, but whatever.

I'd rather figured us for a junkie, than an actually mentally scarred person.
But the morphine idea isn't bad anyways.
How about opium? It's a classic, and was very prominent in the Colonial/Brit Imperial times.
>>
>>215252
>>215316
I am slightly peeved
I said it first nyeh
>>215218
>>
>>215337
True...thing is morphine is the most abundant opioid refined from opium, they're pretty much the same thing, opium just has some other shit in with it from the plant.
>>
>>215337
Also, not sure if this is colonial/british empire ea, as vanity plates were mentioned for the car we got into, that seems like a modern day setting but the manor itself is a purposeful anachronism due to its owners taste in aesthetics.
>>
>>215337
>>215329
Either drug could work as they're essentially the same thing at the user end. It depends on the time period we want our MC to come from. I think opium is the more interesting choice.
>>
>>215376
Yeah, plus the name still has a certain panasch to it despite being a life ruining substance. Eh we'll just have to wait and see, for all we know some of this stuff was already decided by the QM.
>>
>>215370
>that seems like a modern day setting
True, true, but here is an idea; how about we were chosen by the vampire because we were opiate addicts, and the vampire likes the blood soaked in vintage drug?
>>
>>215391
seems an odd choice, usually you'd expect healthy blood to be more favored, but who knows, maybe it's got a nostalgic flavor. I just figured we were picked because as an addict there are fewer people who care if we go missing or they'll assume we OD'ed in a ditch somewhere .
>>
>>215404
Yes that sounds more sensible.

>>215218
>>215235
>>215249
>>215252

"Oh fuck, what is this? I thought crap like this was behind me. Listen man, I'm chill with a lot of things, but I'm not into bondage, and I'm certainly not into guys alright? So why don't you untie me and let me get to some gas sta-" Suddenly, the man starts laughing.
"It looks like that bitch's meal doesn't know what's goin' on here! Ha! That's rich! Real fuckin' rich man! Ha-ha!" he weezes out a final chuckle before wiping a tear from his eye. His voice sounds like Shrek smoked twenty packs of cigarettes a day "Trust me mate, gettin' fucked in the ass is the least of worries right now. And seen' as I'm gonna kill that damn woman anyways, I well have her dinner."
The man approaches, and his eyes start to glow yellow, and his teeth fall out to reveal a set of canines hair start to grow rapidly all over his body. His flesh starts to stretch and contort in painful ways, but this jackass seems to actually enjoy it. You can barely muster a scream past a lump in your throat, before you are interrupted by a familiar voice.
"I'm afraid that meal is not yours. And seeing this is private property, I will firmly have to ask you to leave." It's Gerald. Seeing as he's the one who drugged you, you can't tell if his presence is for better or for worse.
"Augh, just sod off you old bastard!" Teen Wolf, whose clothes have begun to tear apart, picks up the table you were strapped to and throws it at the butler. By grabbing onto your right shoulder. Yep, definitely for worse. You careen through the air with remarkable speed, and you catch a glimpse of Gerald dodging out of the way in a blur. The table hits a marble pillar and shatters, and you feel large rocks jab into you as you land on the ground. The back of your head hits the earth, and it's lights out.

So, speaking of vampires and supernatural stuff, what powerset do you figure we're gonna get, the OP suggests the senior butler damaged us somehow, and his vanity plate suggests he's a werewolf (Fido), or perhaps we end up some form of lesser undead? Since it seems like the lady of the house hasn't touched us vampire seems unlikely...
>>

~Present~

As far as you can tell, Gerald has left. And now the woman has moved over to you. She's dressed like Holly Golighty, and has very long dark red hair, and green eyes, and ghostly pale skin. She's honestly very beautiful, but it's not like you could give a shit at this point. She stands over you, takes off her glove and bites into her thumb with a very sharp tooth. It breaks the skin, and she turns her thumb down, allowing the blood to drip onto your lips. You feel an odd surge of energy pulse through your body.
"There. That should give you enough energy to stay alive for now. Now listen Stanly, I'm afraid we at Ainsworth manor haven't been entirely honest with you. You weren't selected because we wanted to give you a fresh start, you were selected because nobody would really care if you disappeared." You lay in silence, bewildered with what is even going on. You stare at her for a few seconds before she starts talking again. "What? Don't give me that look, a girl is entitled to a fresh meal at least once a year. Besides, your waaaaaay to dirty now. I wouldn't dream of eating you. So here's what's going to happen. I had some demon's blood imported, and found out it's absolutely disgusting. Way to salty. Now I have a gallon of the stuff and nothing to do with it. And since you're going to die anyway, I figure we might as give you a transfusion and see what happens. Who knows, maybe you'll survive become some kickass monster or somthing?" You here footsteps coming up some stairs, and you see the top of Geralds grey hair. "And here it is now. So, do you want to take part in my little experiment?

You decide to just keep staring at her. You try to mumble how you don't think she'll care how you answer, but you only manage to barely wheeze it out. She cups her ear and smiles, and puts head close to yours
"What was that Stanley? Is that a hearty "Yes!" I hear? Great! I pegged you for the adventurous type the moment I saw your resume. Gerald, get that needle in him and give me my blood bag." She sais as she greedily grabs a packet of thick red liquid, and begins to drink the contents as a small river of the stuff trickles down the side of her mouth.
With a simple "Yes Ma'am," Gerald sticks a needle with a tube connected to another blood bag into your wrist. Raising it above you, he squeezes it as blood flows from it and down into you. At first you don't feel anything. Then suddenly, all of your insides are on fire. You have no idea what hell feels like, but your pretty sure it would be something like this. You see nothing but random colors, and you think your flailing and screaming, but you're beyond perceiving anything other than the pain. If you could see yourself, you would notice some changes have started to come over you.

You wake up, and your body is sore all over. Fortunately, you're not strapped to a stone table this time. You appear to be in a small room that reminds you of the one you had back at the center, with nothing but a small bed and a bedside table with an alarm clock. Two doors adorn the striped walls, and you assume one leads outside and one leads to a bathroom. You look to the side, and you can see through the light squeezing its way through the blinds that it is currently daytime. You manage to sit up, and you get a good look at your hands. Your fairly certain the anyone within a 15 mile radius could hear your reaction. Apparently, the events of last night were not some sort of weird dream, and you now find yourself as some sort of freak. Your whole body is a strange ash color, and as you tense your yellow scaled hands in surprise, 2 inch claws shoot out immediately. Scrambling out of bed, you don't even notice your claws tearing the sheets to shreds, due to the fact one of the two leathery bat wings sprouting out of your back have just knocked over the lamp. You don't think it can get any worse, when you look down to see a snake writhing around your feet. An it's attached to you. Perfect. In the middle of your freak-out, you hear the door open as fucking Gerald walks in holding some clothes.
"Ah, Mr. Morison, I see you have awoken. The Countess has requested your presence in her study. Take these clothes and make yourself presentable."

You decide you've had enough of this fucking shit, and run at Gerald with your right claw forward. He appears caught of guard by your speed, but manages to hold up a single hand to block the attack. Your nails manage to pierce his gloved palm, and you push his entire body back. Other than a small grunt, he seems relatively unfazed.
"An extremely admirable effort indeed Mr. Morison, but I'm afraid you lack the experience to fight on equal terms with me. Now if you don't mind getting dressed, I would not like to keep the Mistress waiting." Grabbing your wrist, he pulls your hand out of his with a sickening wet sound, and presses the clothes on your chest.

"Listen, man I'm not putting on crap unless you start answering some of my questions. Like what the hell is going on here, and what the fuck did you do to me?" You say through strained breaths. the slightest hint of annoyance flashes across Gerald's face.
"Why Mr. Morison, don't you remember? The Countess gave you a blood transfusion, and now you seem to have mutated into a lesser demon of some sort. I'd say that compared to the alternative, you got the better option. Now again, for your sake, I will have to ask you to put on the clothes and follow me to the study." As he ends his statement, Gerald seems to grow a few inches taller, and a shadow spreads across his face. You figure it would be best not to push him any further. You begrudgingly grab the suit and a pair of shoes, and slam the door behind you. The suit is a surprisingly good fit, and even features a two holes in the shirt for your wings and one in the pants for your "tail". As you open the door again, you realize that your outfit is almost identical to Gerald's. he nods, and with an exasperated sigh, he leads you through twisting corridors, and passes rows of doors, until he reaches a rather ornate one. Before you can react, Gerald opens it and shoves you inside, closing the door behind you. the room looks like a large living room with some large bookshelves and a fire place taking up most of the wall space. Facing the fireplace at an angle are two large velvet armchairs that share a small table, all on top of a large rug made of a grey hide of some sort. The Countess is sitting in one of the chairs reading, wearing a nightgown and some horn-rimmed glasses. She closes her book, and placing it and her glasses on the table, gets up and begins to walk to you. Placing her hand under her chin, she scans over your entire body, a smile forming on her lips.
What do you do?
>Stand there awkwardly
>"Wha-What are you doing?"
>"Listen, Beatrice or Miss Ainsworth or whatever, He said you might have some answers for me
>"Lady, what the hell is going on here?'
>Attack her

Also, I'll finish up this session in a few more posts. If any of you are still around by then, I will answer any questions you might have.

Attacking her would be hilarious but I think we realize by now there's not a lot of attacking shit right now.

"Do you care to explain what's going on, 'Countess'" You say to her, in the most sardonic tone of voice you can muster. At this point you're just pissed off.
"Ooh, it looks like that snake of yours isn't the only one whose got some venom." she replies with a small laugh. "But while I like it when men are witty, I detest in my servants. Although, I suppose I should be thankful you turned out so... well. I hear women are all over scales these days. Anyways," she says with a sigh "I do suppose I owe you some answers. The man who attacked you last night was an assassin sent to kill me by one of my rivals. By now, I would hope you can guess that most of my rivals are of a supernatural persuasion. For the last century or so, I've ignored their squabbling. One of them must have had the balls to think I had grown weak enough to be killed by just a werewolf. Since it seems I will have to rejoin the fray, and it seem you have nowhere to go, I figure we can let bygones be bygones. If you work for me, join the Ainsworth manor, I can promise the possibility of a home, which is the most you can hope for at this point."
How do you respond?
>"Sure, It's not like I have a choice"
>"You tried to eat me! Why would I ever work for you?"
>"What would I be doing if you hired me?"
>"Is all -this- reversible?"
>"Why do your rivals want to kill you?"

Mind giving me a general run down of said enemies, like generally speaking what supernatural nonsense am I gonna have to deal with.

"What would I be dealing with if I worked for you?" You ask. She squints her eyes a bit, and thinks for a moment.
"Well, I imagine things like Wolfy will be pretty common, but you'll probably start out with just being an errand boy rather than confronting them. It's honestly been so long I can't quite remember what there like."
"And is any of this," you say as you gesture to yourself " reversible?"
"Now that would be tricky. While there spells that can hide your appearance to normal people, I've never encountered something that can actually turn a monster back to their original, human state. Besides, I think it's an improvement."
You sit there and way your options, mulling it over as Beatrice starts to become impatient. Finally, you give an answer. "Even though you were planning on eating me, and even though you pumped me full of demons blood against my will just to see what would happen, it doesn't seem like I really have a choice. Besides, working for you is probably my best chance of finding something that can make me "normal" again."
Beatrice grins from ear to ear. "Wonderful! I'm glad you're able to put all of that behind us. So do you, Stanly Morrison, swear on your name that you will serve and protect Ainsworth Manor to the best of your ability?" She says as she sticks out her hand, expecting a handshake. You slowly take her hand, and you feel a sensation like a dull knife being dragged across your skin. A symbol depicting a moth, the same one you remember seeing on Gerald's watch, is carved into the skin of your left hand. Beatrice hold you in a vice grip until the symbol is complete, and you quickly begin to try and shake out any of the residual pain. "Welcome aboard Stanley!" she says, her voice filled with all the joy of a schoolgirl. You realize this may not have been the wisest thing to do after all.

Alright anons, that was my last post for this session. I'll archive this one and maybe even set up a twitter, if you guys want. If you have any questions or feedback, please feel free to give them now!

Good shit, but less chargen would've been nice.
>>
>>216353
Thanks. Since this was the first session I wanted to get that stuff out of the way.
>>
>>216347
Sweet. Very curious what the actual missions will end up looking like.

Twitter is great if you want reliable attendance.
Um. You gonna make a thread #2, or start posting in this one tomorrow.
>>
>>216347
Just making sure, the snake tail is venomous right?
Also whens the next thread?
>>
>>216388
>>216384
I'll probably set up a twitter soon, and post a link to it in this thread. I plan on posting Saturday at around 5:00 pm CT. It will probably be about meeting other members of the manor and starting the first errand.

sweet, wonder what species the maids are.

>>216402
>implying they aren't off limits entirely

>>216408
I'm pretty sure the maids will be species that can tear our wings off and stuff them up or ass if we try anything. Just curious what the countesses tastes are. plus I've seen quite a few supernatural maids, always interested to see a new variant (hopefully)

After I run the next thread, I will try to set up a steady schedule.

Since the board's population is sorta low, make sure to advertise in the General now and then when it runs to scoop up some new players. It works for other QMs.

Sorry. I'm a bit of a slow writer, so to save time I don't always reread my posts
>>
>>217261
The thing is, you're already slow so taking those few extra minutes to read your post aloud and spellcheck won't hurt things. It will only help.
