After ending as a castaway in a primitive world, our MC went to sleep through cryogenic sleep while waiting for rescue.

A unknown amount of time has passed, but the thing that woke him up wasn't the rescue he had been hoping for, but an attractive young woman with red hair that somehow managed to break into his secure bunker and trigger the alarms leading to the MC waking up inside his mech's cockpit.

While thinking about what to do about his visitor, further natives showed up. Greenskin humanoids with brutish physiques and jutting lower jaws, wearing simple clothes and wielding crude seeming weapons began threatening the redheaded young woman, and even shooting at the MC's mech.

We start right as our protagonists gets ready to fire a warning shot using his mech's ralgun.

***

This game uses D20 Modern, Future, Urban Arcana, Future Tech... etc, and is loosely based on Gate, Outbreak Company, Those Who Hunt Elves, Gargantia On The Verdurous Planet, Tenchi Muyo! War on Geminar and such, there won't really be a fixed schedule for this thread but I will probably post a warning on twitter when it's about to start.

Twitter is MagSgamE

As the greenskins pellet your mecha with bullets, they do constant if small burst of damage.

Your railgun hums to life as you prepare to fire a warning shot...

***

Your mcha has hardness 5 (IIRC) and the most primitive handgun does 2d6 so they do manage to do some damage to you even if they're using primitive-as-fuck guns, since while just sitting there they have no issue hitting the barn-sized mech.

You are inside your own garage

Rolled 14 (1d20)

My bad, the mech its Hardness 20.

>>160577

Your railgun humms for half a second, a halo of energy appearing at the muzzle for a moment before it fires.

The blast itself hits the bunker/garage's wall, melting its way through and and punching a hole the size of an orange in the (according to the locals) near indestructible material!

The greenskin brutes and the redheaded young woman are all similarly shaken due to being within meters of your weapon at the time of its discharge...

1/?
>>
>>160619

The girl lets out a soft cry as she crouches and covers her ears, and the taller humanoids cower and stumble back through the door.

Earlier, you broadcasted a warning but they ignored it., However, it looks like they all speak 'gun,' regardless.

"Hostile humanoids have fled. Now going to try to make contact with the humanoid female they left behind."
Lazard exits his suit weapon drawn and at the ready. He is in a black flight suit and helmet.

"Do you understand me?" -speaking to the woman-
>>
>>160644

The young woman is still crouching while covering her ears.

She looks up when she sees your boots enter her field of view. Apparently she's temporarily deaf because of your weapon's firing noise.

As you try talking to her, you can hear the greenskin humanoids pounding on the aegis shield, but their chances of moving your mech out of the way are about as high as the chances of an ant to push an elephant away.

"Ah! whi auru wie?!" -she says while looking at you with trembling eyes.

Her eyes... are definitively not human. They look as if they are solid gold, and her face looks inhumanly attractive.

Her skin is milky pale, but somehow seems to glow with health, and her bright red hair is a slightly different shade than that of the natural red you ocassionally saw back home.

"Whaus auru wie kionj huru? Hiw kok wie jis on?" -she asks with a nicely melodious voice.

We were castaways on this planet during its prehistory, so we know its safe to breathe. But I understand we are wearing our pilot suit + helmet right now.

And yeah, God was an astronaut scanario is possible here. To begin with, our species did send out machines to terraform the galaxy long looooooooooong ago. I stole that idea from WH40K to help explain why we can find planets compatible to our bodies. It seems a good excuse.

She's quite cute. Now that she's standing, you can see she's well proportionated and nicely curvy, tight or soft in all the right places.

Her clothes look like a worker's suit, or more specifically, its similar to the grease monkeys (techies) who would give upkeep to your mech and other machines back in the base.

Her's fits her nicely, and doesn't has any grease stain, bu the dirt and grime still easily tell you she's a working woman.

17 remaining railgun shots. We also have a chaingun with 750 shots, a chainsword, and a retractable tower shield (which we positioned to block the entrance to the hangar)

Obviously our ammo is important because, well, we can't ressuply. The chaingun uses 10 bullets per shot

Lazard is a texan friend i've played online with for yeaaaaaaaaars (although not recently). We are using /qst/ for multiple reasons, such as me being too blind to use our old medium (openrpg) anymore, and wanting to take advantage of /wat/ archive system to save the quest.

She suddenly winks and leans her head to the side for a moment. It's a rather charming gesture.

After a few moments, she slowly reaches inside her thick looking jacket and fetches something that looks like an electronic tool of some kind. She drags her finger on it, then turns it around in your direction.

"Name Lyann. Months to learn language from outside writing. No talk on language. Trouble apologetic. Green hostile. Gratitude many."

As she is talking, she remembers something, and heads towards the door i a rush. Of course, if the huge brutes who had been banging on the shields couldnt move it, the petite girl has less than zero chances of moving it, either.

She quickly writes on her multitool again.

As soon as we retract the shield back into our mecha's arm (its collapsable and retractable), the redhead runs out.

With our mech's sensors, we can hear her giving a shout and a stream of words which, while her voice and language seem to be naturally musical, do not seem particularly friendly, somehow.

She runs back in and then back out while making clearly upset gestures.

Lyann lets out ana amazed "ooooh" as your mech starts flying.

Apparently, sounds of awe are universal.

She quickly recovers and runs towards the greenskins while screaming. They are walking away while pushing a two-wheels red vehicle and carrying a night-table-sized electronic gear of some kind.

Lyann looks quite frantic but as she tries to approach them, they point at her with their guns and she stops right away.

They look at your flying 'giant knight' and stare slack-jawed for a few moments, then drop the square-shaped gear and start running while pushing the two-wheeler along.

Lyann cries at them and tries to wrestle them, but one of them hits her hard and knocks her to the ground.

Im gonna say this is more or less the same answer and combine them into one post.

***

After talking for the benefit of his logs, Lazard pilots the mech on the route of the larger humanoids, and speaks to them through the outer speakers.

Thankfully Lyann somehow made it so we could be understood earlier, or we would just look scary as fuck.

Not that any culture with firearms would fail to understand the threat posed by a gun that big aimed at them.

Indeed, the greenskins break into a run and leave the scene.

Lyann shouts a few things at them, and rushes to huge and caress the two-wheeler, then goes "oh!" and checks on the condition of whatever they dropped.

She is QUITE amazed as we remove our helmet. Her golden eyes open wide when she sees ours, and she leans in close to take a closer look.

She doesn't seems very into personal space.
Ah, she smells pretty nice.

Slowly, she communicates with us using broken english.
Or perhaps we should say it is very elemental english?
She should probably be commended for being able to use even a tiny bit from what she explains to us is a completely alien language.

She is basically a student writing her thesis on the mysterious ruins of Jhaji Island... that's our small base complex.

We made the buildings over several years, using the knowledge stored in our mech's data banks to create molecularl-ordered, self repairing concrete.

Of course our mech's computer has a huge amount of info. With modern data storage capacity, we could have probably have downloaded the solar library multiple times into it and have more than enough room to spare.

Now, if we had tried to install a game, though, we would have barely had enough space for it and essential date. Really, the videogame industry just seems to think computing and storage power exist solely for them... but that's straying off topic too much.

The point is, Lyann is graduating from student status, and was working on the 'unknown ruins' that are our base in order to do so.

She had been in the island for half a year (the planet's years are twice as long as ours) simply studying the runes and symbols all over our base,

It looks like noone had been able to understand english yet. Is she a genius? to manage to reconstruct an alien language out of the curses and graffity we left here and there...

She even managed to jury-rig her 'Personal Data Assistant" with our garage door, then (it did take her several months to break our military grade enconding) opened the door and walked in.

This activated our revival protocols, since our mech assumed a rescue team had arrived, and shortly after that, those greenskins (orcs, she says) arrived and tried to mug her.

They are not natives of the island, she says. They're something like wandering bandit tribes.

Apparently, social order isn't very good in the region... well, back home, we did have sectors of space where pirates were still a thing, so we can't really point fingers, can we?

As for her things, we prevented the orcs from running away with them, but she's worried about the village. Where there's one orc, there's a hundred more, and the village is quite small. The local authorities are a couple of constables and that's it.

The young woman smiles brightly, and writes in her device

"Guide you the village."

Well, she got her point across.
We nod, and she quickly rolls her two-wheeler outside and sits on it, a leg stretched to prop it while she starts it.

The vehicle starts with a very quiet humm. Guess they aren't using combustion engines, despite their overall apparent tech level not being particularly high.

Electric?

She waits for our mech to take flight again, and quickly starts moving.
Her vehicle is surprisingly fast, easily exceeding over 250 m/h despite the uneven terrain of the grasslands and hills.

Soon enough, a town comes into view. It looks like a postcard place, with bright red roofs and a stone wall all around it.

Currently, there's a large mob of greenskins (she called them orc before) looting the city. They're dragging away anything that looks valuable, and the bodies of the two constables are lying on the floor next the door, where they probably tried to face the mob.

Its one thing to fire at an approaching mob or armed murderers and looters, but a group that could contain hapless victims is a different story.

Well, since it was a crit, it still was x2 at least, so 16 dmg which isnt bad vs a orc
>>165360

The leader of the mob takes a hit to the face with a first the size of a beach ball. Teeth and bones shatter, but the brute doesn't go down.

It starts shouting and spitting blood before lifting its gun against us and shooting again, trying to hit us with the full blast of its clip at point blank range.

Yeah ive decided its super annoying to make a post for each roll so im gonna start rolling a lot more off camera from now on

>>165384

The bullets either harmlessly bounce off our shell, or miss us altogether.

It is rather amazing to see that the orc's boss was tough enough to take two hits from our metal giant before it went down, but it finally did.

We aim the chaingun at the remaining orcs, and they break out into running while we block the entrance to the town.

Looks like they all left, but many buildings in the town are burning and there's many dead on the streets.

We are not equipped to extinguish fires and the like, there's not much we can do anymore.

Just as we are worrying, Lyann drives by us and into the town, then stops and starts screaming at people, organizing them to put out the fires.

Tough cookie, eh?

>Get down and help put off the fires. Keep our helmet on

>Stay on the cockpit and look at the people

The people start timidly coming out of their houses. It looks like the redhead can be quite pushy when she wants to.
She shouts at them and somehow gets them to start working together to extinguish the fires, making lines of buckets... that go to a rather cute fountain in the middle of town.

They have things like palm-held computers but don't have plumblind? or is it that there's no fire hydrants? Well, indeed, we don't see anything that may look like a place to stick a firehose to, so perhaps quickly filling buckets its faster than it would be to fill them in a kitchen's water tap.

Uh.... maybe we should have gotten down to help...

Well, in the end, they manage to put down the fires. It looks like the houses are actually wood and rock, so it was quite dangerous for a while.

The redhead (Lyann, was it?) walks over with her fire covered in dirt, her work clothes (having revealed themselves as a biker's suit) slightly open as she tries to cope with the heat.

She tries holding her PDA so we can see it...

"Come thank town help." -is what it reads

I guess it means "let us thank you for your help" but ...

Ah, since the suit is 'small' enough and its hands are humanoid enough, we may as well help.

The villagers are understandably scared of us, but when we start lifting burning wooden beams and throwing them aside, anyone would get the idea.

Interestingly enough, most of them look somewhat similar to our friend, but there's some that look quite different, with traits that look positively alien, while still retaining a basic humanoid shape.

There's some people with long horns spouting out of their foreheads or the sides of their skulls, tails, animal ears, or unusual skin colors such as sky blue or neon pink.

Back on Earth, we once heard that nature didn't like blue since it was a hard color to make. There are no 'real' naturally blue animals on Earth.

It is a 'constructed' color, which means there are no actually blue pigments. Instead, the structure of skin, scales or feathers is such that it absorbs the other light waves, so that things look blue 'by default' as it is the only remaining visible spectrum.

It's fine, isn't it? it doesn't looks as if it bothers them at all. A tall blue man with horns is helping a old man with milky pale skin and solid blue eyes.

>Open the cockpit and step down
>Fly back to the garage

It doesn't look as if the orcs are coming back.
You have the mech walk to the side of town, open the cockpit and come down.

As you expected, Lyann and a few other villagers dollowed you, and so they welcome you as you step down.

Lyann is talking to them a lot.

"Ha harfan ir e rud, sairhd? Whaira I ru ruucailr llus dha laesar nusdus, fraera ruuc elldas hain, ersairhd?"
"Arsairhd, nul'd wussirr." -an elderly man replied to her
"Lazrd, dhara faufra wairr... uh"

She stops herself and brings out her PDA again, then scribbles on it.

"I travel quick. Doctor get. Lazard stay eat, yet?"

Looks like she wants us to stay here while she goes to get a doctor. Uhmm...

>We should escort her on our mech.

>>
>>165734
>>165710
>We should escort her on our mech.

"Others see Lazard, good?" - its what read in her PDA

Well... there's no reason we actually have to get to the village. We just want to see her arrive there safe. We can stop short of it... yeah there's plenty of ways to follow her.

"It will be alright. I'll follow from afar." -we say
"Alright." -she replies in english, mimicking our words

It sounds a lot nicer when she says it, if a little funny.

"Wa'rr ru rad dha nusdus, fraera weaid." -she says to the elder
"W-whed aill dha orc suna fesc!?"
"I nul'd dhailc dhairr wairr, fid I'rr fa wiaisc, err dha rena" -she replies to the elder
"Arsairhd..." -looks like the old man agreed in the end

Lyann goes into town and comes back on her bike, while we went back into the neck.

She drives by our side at full speed, heading away in a straight line.

We take off and follow her from high above. With our machine, geared as it is to fight in space against targets thousands of miles away, tracking a bike a couple of miles away is as easy as finding our nose with both hands.

The trip lasts a little under two hours. After the first hour, she reached what looked like a rural road, and followed it until she arrived at a much larger town.

Well, its still not big enough to qualify as a small city.

It, too, is surrounded by a wall, but we can see plenty of soldiers guarding it.

Tracking Lyann's bike, it looks like she went straight into town and stopped near a two-floor building, then went inside.

The houses are wood and stone here, as well. There's hardly any buildings taller than 2 floors.

Zooming in, it looks like Lyann got a young woman carrying a large backpack to come back with her.

Lyann sits in the front, and her passenger sits behind her, hugging her by the waist.

Uh, we can't see either of their faces nor hear their voices from this angle and distance.

Lyann takes off after pulling her hair into a ponytail and securing it under her jacket... ah, it's so her hair won't hit her passenger.

As we look at the town, we see that the soldiers' weapons seem to be projectile-based. There's some oddly anachronistic ballista on the walls, too.

Lyann's bike seems to be one of very few vehicles in the larger town.

Most people move on chariots pulled by beasts, and what few other vehicles there are, seem to be small and extremely rare.

We can't detect any radio waves nor any other sign of transmissions of any kind. Do they use cables? but underground cables over long distances would be economically inconvenient, right?

Plus, if Lyann could have called for a doctor rather than come pick one up, she would have, probably.

1/?
>>
>>165872
>inb4 caste-based tech usage, and lyann is technically a noble, thus having access to high tech bullshit
>>
>>165872

As we are watching the bike's very enhanced image on the floating screen before our eyes, a beeping alarm demands our attention.

We are sharing airspace with something larger than we are.

A ridiculously massive 'bird' is flying in a path that will bring it close to us (but its not heading towards us). It is larger than a civilian airplane by far, approaching in size to a cruiser ship.

To be honest, its larger than the town under us.

>>
>>165896
Nah, its more like beginnings of the automobile, when you were required to maintain your own vehicle and so it was implied that only educated people could own one simply because noone could fix it for you.

She built her bike. The vehicles going around are all VERY different, so their owners probably built them.

Yes, but rather than being class or even wealth-based, its education based. Even a king cant afford to have a tech mage whose sole job is to keep the royal car working, and mechanized war isn't even a thing.

Guns are normal, though, but mostly at the level of the wild west. A gating gun would be the absolute peak of shooty efficiency.
IIRC Gatling added the electrical engine to his machine gun himself, but it remained impractical for a long time because of the weight.

It took the arrival of mechanized warfare for a machine that could carry it around.

***

The population under us doesn't seem particularly excited to see the immense bird. We aren't sure how it even flies. It is just too impossibly big.

It flies slowly, its wings barely batting as it moves through the air. Gas? is it like a balloon?

The bike is already some distance away, so we began moving. Looking at it from the side, we can see that Lyann's passenger has very long black hair.

Her backpack is... ridiculously large. In bulk alone, it doesn't look like something you would normally walk around with, and specially not with such a petite frame.

We move, and the bird's course does not change. It's not following us, after all.

What does such a thing eat? Well, we can ask Lyann later.

We go around the town once and land before Lyann arrives.

It just hits us. In all this time, we have never taken off our helmet.

We see the bike as it arrives. Lyann stops next to us for a moment and types a message in her PDA, then shows it to us.

"Doctor here. Need help? Going town." -is what reads there.
"I'm fine. Just go help people inside." -we reply, and Lyann winks and leans her head to the left for a moment, then keeps going

The doctor looks quite young. She's also quite beautiful.
Like Lyann, her skin is milky white, yet looks healthy and lustrous. Her hair is midnight black, of a shade so dark it looks as if it would suck up the light.
Its quite beautiful.

They go into town, and we follow.
Some people approach Lyann and the doctor, and seem to have a short talk with them.

Apparently, the injured have all been taken to the same building. Uh, wasn't it bad to move them befpre the doctor was here?

The doctor steps into the building in a rush.

As we approach Lyann, who is pushing her bike into the house's garden, she greets us with a smile.

"Thelc irrui llus irruis hesn wusc! wuirn irrui raica du aed runadhailr luw? eh sairhd..." -she starts talking to us in that soothing musical tone, then stops herself and smiles.

"Gratitude on diamond work. Fuel intake Lazard desires?" - is what is written on her PDA

"Lazard duty? No stay?" -is what's on her PDA screen
"I'd like some food, but I'll eat in the cockpit. I want to take a look around and make sure the orcs aren't coming back."
"Alright." -she says with a smile. Well, she certainly learned that word.- "Lazard wait."

She goes into a house (is it her house?) and comes back with a small basket.
That's food, right?

"Lazard, gratitude!" -she says.

She learns pretty fast.

"Lyann, thank you. Thank you, Lyann." -we correct her
"Thank you, Lazard?" -she repeats
"Alright." -we say, and accept the basket

She sees us leave.

Once we are back inside the cockpit, we ask the mech's computer to do a chemical analysis of the food on the basket, and take off until we are a couple of miles up.

At this distance from the floor, at this time, we should be completely invisible.

First the date:
-Unable to sync with fleet time, please try again-

Well, we are never able to connect with the fleet since arriving on this planet, so it's no surprise. Our logs are just ordered by number.

"Computer, set current date as day 1, year 1."

We use our sensors, capable of locating targets thousands of miles away, and do a thorough scan of the whole region.

No frictionless machines detexted. Alright, let's go one step down...
No fusion engines detected. Alright, let's go one step down.
107 electrical power sources detected.

For an area spanning half the planet that is... quite low.

No internal combustion engines detected.

How do those electrical sources operate, then?
The computer is unable to analyze the energy used.
It was also unable to analyze whatever Lyann used on the garage.
How does her bike work? we just assumed it was electrical.

The computer conforms that it is a source of electricity, but it cannot identify its power source.

"Is it the same energy Lyann used in the garage?"

We need to specify who Lyann is to the computer.
It is a positive answer.

"Where are the 10 closest electrical signatures?"

Lyann's 'bike' is one. There's 7 more in the town we visited when we escorted Lyann to pick up a doctor.

One comes from the shore, to the north.
The other comes from the woodlands to the East.

Our mech is large-sized.
On the second garage/hangar is the mech of Lieutenant Colonel Absal, who died shortly after we crashed together unto this (at the time) mostly lifeless rock.

We buried his body, and left his mech rest as a tribute. We don't have clearance to use it, and its too damaged for use, anyway.

>Keep analyzing the surface and looking at the inhabitants through the mech's sensors.

>-Tries to take current scans and match then with scans from before cryo sleep to find any similar points of reference and maybe determine a time span sense cryo sleep.-

The computer's analysis of the food is done. It is mostly edible, except for a bright blue thing that would kill us 131 times if we were to bite on it.

Well it was to be expected that some of it would be bad for us, but... that's pretty bad.

We grab a green fruit and start peeling it with our combat knife, then ask the computer to, taking intoaccount star movement since we went into cryo sleep, calculate how long it has been.

When we went to sleep, the atmosphere was a lot richer in Co2 and we couldnt stay off the mech for long periods of times. Now, it is earth-like.

...the fruit is sweet. It's too sweet. It's like biting into sugar.

Well, it sure is a welcomed change from army food, which we had run out of, and thus had to go into cryosleep until rescue would arrive.

The rest of the fruit... their tastes are all over the place. The sour ones are -really- sour, to the point we can feel our wrinkles deepening when we bit into it. The sweet ones are so sweet they may give us diabetes, and the bitter ones gave us tooth ache.

I don't think you are meant to eat them each separatedly... ah, that may be it. Combined, they may make for a nice meal, uh?

We are thinking about that when we notice the results of the computer analysis on the floating screen.

Well, the frictionless gravity-powered engine should be able to power the mech forever as long as we are within a gravity field, but our off planet capabilities are... yeah, it's gone. We can't operate in deep space anymore.

Uhmm... we did send terraforming machines ahead of us into the broad galaxy, but for intelligent life to evolve... moreover, they look remarkably human...oid...ish

I wonder if the Lieutenant Colonel's body had some effect on this planet's life? Still, from protean pool to intelligent life forms in a million years or so... no, I have no idea how long it took for humans to evolve, so I can't make a comparison.

Aahhh.. what should I do now?
