Hang on: didn't all of the knights hear about him being a pure demon, and how he can survive in the execution chamber? They were all in the same room.

You shrug and start heading to the door with Derrick, but turn back to Emi before leaving the courtyard.

"I can't get up if you don't let me go" Marybell says.
"I know" Emi says.

"So..." Marybell says.
"No" Emi replies, tightening her coils ever so slightly.

She has Marybell wrapped up in a strange way, leaving the centaur's upper body free, but completely binding her legs and lower body.

"Face it Belly-bell, you got outplayed" Pip says.
"How did you wrap her up so fast?" You ask.

"I'm just... good" Emi says.
"Really? It looked like Eido" Rhea says.
"You've seen that before?" Pip asks.

"I used to live down south" Rhea says. "More snakes down there. There was a Serpid in my hometown who knew Eido... we didn't mess with her"

"What's eydoe?" You ask.
"Eido is a martial art for Serpids" Derrick says. "I didn't know you knew it, Emi"
"Only the basics" Emi says.
"Like how to bind a centaur?" Rhea asks.

Emi shrugs.

"Can I get up now?" Marybell asks.
"Sure" Emi says, tightening her coils again. "When you apologize for trying to kill my friend"

"Seriously?" Marybell says. "I was only following orders"
"No you weren't" Pip says.

Marybell gives Pip a look of betrayal, but Pip just shrugs.

"F-fine..." Marybell says, looking severely embarrassed. "I'm... sorry"

Rhea rolls her eyes, and steps over to help Marybell to her feet.

"Can you teach me how to do that?" You ask Emi.
"Do... what?" Emi asks.
"Eido" You say.
"The martial art of grappling with your tail?" Pip asks. "You're a few feet of tail short of that one, Buddy"
"What if I used my mageblade to do it?" You ask.

"You'd need to make some big strides in your mageblading first" Derrick says. "Come on, let's get to the meeting hall. The Commander's not a fan of being kept waiting"

"Fine..." You say.

The group heads for the door, with you and Emi trailing behind.

"Are you sure you're okay?" She asks.
"I'm fine" You say. "But I could've sworn that Altea said I was important..."

"She did?" Marybell asks.
"She did" Derrick says. "You were there"

"I was just complaining about not knowing the plan" Pip says.
"O-oh..." Marybell says.

"You two weren't paying attention were you?" Pip asks.
"My mind may have been... wandering" Marybell says.
"And you know how the Commander gets..." Rhea says.

"Finest knights in the Empire" Derrick says. "Can't even pay attention in a strategy meeting..."

"Is Ilica not here?" She asks.

"Ilica, Tian, and Ariadne stayed back at the guild hall" Derrick says.
"Oh" Emi says. "Why?"

"There was a cute, but very persistent baby bunny" You say.
"Huh... I never took Ilica as a kid-person" Emi says.
"She loves them... or maybe just this one. She made a face like this when the baby said goodbye" You say, doing your best to mimic the smile that was on Ilica's face.

Derrick cracks up. "Jeez, I didn't think she could show emotions that weren't mild disinterest or scorn" He says.
"She shows lots of emotions" You say. "There was that one time where she got really angry and clawed my chest.. and the time where-"

"What took you guys so long?" Altea asks, as the group enters the meeting hall.

"Took a while to pry the snake off the horse" Pip says.
"I see" Altea says. "No hard feelings, I hope"

Emi and Marybell look at each other, and then back to Altea. You aren't really sure why, but Altea takes that as an answer...

"So, you wanted to know the plan" Altea says.
"You might want to fill in some other gaps for our hooved friends, they weren't p-rmprph" Pip says, as Rhea covers her mouth.

"What was that?" Altea asks.
"N-nothing, Commander" Rhea says.
"Good. Everyone sit down, and we can begin..." Altea says.

You sit down between Derrick and Emi, and wait for Altea to begin.

"So before I start, I have one question" Altea says. "What is the easiest way into a prison?"

"Bingo" Altea says. "You break the law, get an inquisitor on you, and they'll escort you in themselves"
"So you want Yuu to go and get arrested?" Derrick asks.

"Not just Yuu" Altea says. "Pip, and maybe someone else will be going with him"
"So step one is to get Pip arrested" Rhea says. "I like this plan already"

"I'd invite you to come along, but I don't think they have cells big enough for you Rhea" Pip says.
"Rhea could fit in those cells" You say.

"That was a joke" Pip says.
"Oh... I don't get it" You say.

"Aaaaaanyways" Altea says. "Step one is getting in. I've got a man on the inside who can bring you weapons, since both of you use something small"
"If you have a man on the inside, why not just get him to do it?" You ask.
"He can't access to the Chaos engine, or I would ask him" Altea says. "And even if he could get to it, I doubt he could muster the strength to destroy it"

"So it has to be Yuu" Derrick says.
"Either that, or we rely on snagging a mostly full mana pack from the knights there" Altea says.
"Didn't we get mana packs?" You ask.
"Those were the guard's packs. The one that Sir Aramelio was wearing is what she's talking about" Derrick says.

"And they're never full" Altea says. "So it comes down to you"

"Alright... so weapons, and then what?" You ask.
"Then you get to the engine and disable it" Altea says. "After that, my forces can move in"

Hard to forget the only guy to not only break out of the place, but also caught and threw back a blast from something that should've killed pretty much anything else.

"That's awfully vague... and what if they remember me?" You ask.
"I doubt they will" Altea says.

"Yuu's right... we made a bit of an impression on our exit last time" Derrick says.
"Then we can disguise him" Altea says. "Pip's pretty good with that kind of thing"

Pip smiles. "She's right, when I'm done with you, your own mother won't recognize you" She says.
"I don't have a mother" You say.
"Good. That means she won't be around to not recognize you" Pip says.

You turn to Derrick, and he shrugs.

"So what do we do inside?" You ask. "How do I get to the engine, and how do I destroy it?"

"You'll have to work that out yourself" Altea says. "Pip should have no trouble slipping by the guard once you have your weapons, and I'm afraid I haven't seen the engine they have there... so I can't help you disable it"

That could make things difficult... if worst comes to worst, you can always blow the engine away. But that hurt last time...

Plus, you and Pip being the only ones there could be a little rough... if things don't go well, it might be nice to have someone less squishy watching your back.

"I don't know" He says. "I don't think I could get that close to it..."

"If I was there you could" You say. "When Ilica and I were in the red room, she was fine"
"Really? She never mentioned that" Derrick says.

"She said that I was glowing" You say.

"It would make sense" Altea says. "If he draws chaos the same way we draw mana, you should be relatively safe from the engine's effects"

"Relatively?" Derrick asks.
"As in 'don't linger'" Altea says. "I don't expect you to carefully search for the off switch. You just need to find a spot that seems important and blow it up"

"I can do that" You say. "The blowing up... not the finding"
"I guess I could help with that" Derrick says. "From what I've heard, there shouldn't be too big a difference between a chaos engine and a mana generator..."

"Great!" Pip says. "So Yuu, Me, and You. Sounds like a party"
You smile. "I'll supply the fireworks" You say.
"Fireworks?" Pip says.

"You know" You say. "Like rockets, but instead of exploding all dangerous, they explode all pretty"
"Oh!" Emi says. "You mean firestars"
"That's a nice idea. Think your inside man could sneak us in a few of those? Make the chaos engine's explosion look nice and pretty?" Pip asks.

"Weapons only" Altea says.
"Awww..." Pip says.

"But" Altea says. "When the prison is ours... perhaps a bit of showmanship might be in order..."

"Awesome!" Pip says.

"So Derrick, Pip, and Yuu will get themselves arrested. The easiest place to do that will probably be in Bell's Run, though you can go anywhere you really want to go so long as you end up in Mortifas" Altea says. "Once there you'll meet my man inside, who will give you your weapons: a mageblade for Yuu, a dagger for Pip, and a sword for Derrick. Then you'll make your way to the chaos engine, Derrick will identify a weak point, and Yuu will blast it... any questions?"

"When do we start?" You ask.

"It will take time to position my forces... the people I'll be calling on for this are other supporters, scattered about the country. I'll need to contact them all covertly" Altea says. "I'll give it 5 days. Whoever comes, comes. Whoever doesn't, doesn't. Word of you may not travel fast, but it will travel. If it were possible, I'd start it now... but neither of us are ready"

"I'm not?" You ask.
"Remember what we said about whipping you into shape?" Altea asks. "I saw your performance against Derrick. You aren't going anywhere with footwork that bad"

"Oh... yeah" You say.

"And on that note, I'll leave you all to your own devices" Altea says. "I have a lot of people to contact, and little time with which to contact them..."

The knights stand up and bow, so you, Derrick and Emi follow suite as Altea leaves the room.

"Think Altea will mind if I steal their hats?" You ask, once the commander has left.
"I don't think she'll mind" Emi says. "Why, are you thinking of starting a collection?"
"I have one, I might as well start collecting them" You say.

"I've heard of worse hobbies" Pip says.

"So what now?" Derrick asks. "I think we've still got some light left... want to continue where we left off?"

"Yeah" Derrick says. "I think you've been shot at enough times today"

"I said I was sorry" Marybell says.
"Sorry Bells, we stil get to bring it up" Pip says.

Bella pouts and scrapes the ground with one of her hooves. "Fine then, I'll be in the baths if anyone needs me" She says.
"I'll go with you. Kicking the newbie's butt worked up a sweat" Lulu says.

"See you guys" Pip says. "I'm gonna watch the newbie get his butt kicked some more"

Derrick snorts. "I'm not sure if that's an insult for Yuu, or a compliment for me"
"A little bit of both" Pip says with a cheeky smile.

You, Derrick, Rhea, Pip and Emi head out into the courtyard. Once there, Derrick grabs 2 practice swords and tosses one to you.

"Same drill" Derrick says. "I'll attack, you defend. This time we'll stop every so often so I can point some things out"
"Alright" You say, taking up your stance. "I'm ready when you are"

Derrick nods, takes a breath, lets it out, and then charges.

You set your feet and swing your own sword to clash with his. They bounce off each other, and you bring your sword back in to guard against Derrick's next attack...

Right as he changes his angle and swats your side...

"Ow" You say, clutching where he hit you
"Remember what Altea said" Derrick says as he takes a step back. "Don't plant your feet. You're a man, not a tree. Use your feet. Stay mobile"

You nod and take up your stance again.

"Ready?" Derrick asks.
"Ready" You reply.

This time he steps in and lunges instead of charging. You can't parry it, because... well, you can't parry.

So you sidestep it and try to strike him from his side. Derrick turns his sword, sweeping it across your stomach. You block his strike and step in, raising your sword to attack again.

Derrick quickly steps back and away from your downward strike, before attempting to smack your head.
From the ground you swing your sword back up. It connects with his, but instead of letting it bounce and trying to counter, he keeps them connected and tries to force you down...

And we are right back to sucking.

You push back, forcing him upwards and away until he pulls his sword back and bashes it against yours. Your sword splinters and snaps, leaving you without a weapon.

...

"Does that count as me losing?" You ask
"I think it might" Derrick says. "Remember what I said about mobility?"
"Oh..." You say. "I can't help it, my legs are still really tired"

Derrick nods and picks up the broken pieces of sword. "You didn't do too badly at the start though" He says. "But you really need something to do with your off hand. Maybe start using both hands on your sword, or try using a shield, or-"

"What about a second sword?" You ask.
"I wouldn't suggest that, especially since you use a mageblade" He says. "You have trouble maintaining one blade, how will you handle 2?"
"I can improve" You say.
"Not quickly enough to be useful right now" Derrick says. "For now, try fighting with both hands on your sword... which I will go get you right now"

Derrick walks away, and Emi approaches.

"Are you okay?" She asks.
"Just tired" You say. "I can keep going"
"Alright... just don't be afraid to call it quits, okay?" Emi asks. "I don't really want to see you get hurt"
"I know... but I have to be ready" You say. "I'll be fine for now. But after this I'll definitely need to soak..."

Emi smiles. "Good call" She says.

As Derrick comes back, he tosses you a new wooden sword.

"Everything okay?" He asks.
"Yeah, he's good" Emi says as she back off.
"Alright" Derrick says. "Same as before. You ready?"
You nod, and Derrick steps in.

Even though you couldn't beat him, Yuu is improving little by little.
Skill has increased by 1
