“Good morning, handsome.”

A few days have passed since your little camping trip, and news of the Darkworld and the search for Alice have been slow. The DJD and Class 3 haven't encountered her yet during your last two visits. Perhaps the meeting you had with her on Friday, where she had a little bit of a breakdown and stabbed you, has sent her into hiding.

Whatever, it's the beginning of another school day, and the hunt for Alice continues tonight. It's all starting to become routine at this point for you. Which makes it all the more annoying when something comes along to break up that routine, such as waking up one morning to find Chihiro lying in bed next to you.

As your eyes adjust and see her face, staring at you, you almost leap right off the bed. “Gah! Chihiro, what the hell are you doing here?”

Chihiro yawns and wipes one of her eyes. “I dropped by last night because I wanted to ask you something. You and Ken were already off to sleep, so I decided that I could wait until morning.”

“So you crawled into my bed?!” you reply.

Chihiro laughs. “Don't worry your precious head, Ryoji! I didn't peek at anything, and I'm a woman of my word!”

If only that were true...

Chihiro tilts her head. “You... are wearing shorts under there, aren't you?” She begins to lift up the blankets, and you spring to you feet.

“Of course I am!” you yell back.

“Well, that is disappointing...” Chihiro mutters.

You place a hand to your forehead in frustration. “Can you just spit out what you wanted to ask and go?”

Chihiro smiles coyly. “Very well... the Darkworlder you're chasing after... she's my aunt, isn't she?”

You take a step back, hesitating to answer. “Well, I... how did you know that?”

Chihiro smirks. “Oh come on, Ryoji. I'm the class gossip. Did you think the name Alice wouldn't make it's way back to me. Coupled with you asking so many questions about my aunt... it's not hard to add two and two together.”

You shrug. “Okay, you're right. We think it might be her... or at least, a Darkworlder using her body after she got sucked in there as a student or something. I should have figured I couldn't hide anything from you...”

“As long as you've learned your lesson!” Chihiro winks, “But that isn't quite what I came to ask.”

“Okay then, spit it out.”

“This is my family you're tracking down, Ryoji...” Chihiro mutters, before placing her hands on her hips. “It's only fair that I be a part of your team! I want in on your little club!”

“It's not a club, it's dangerous work...” you explain, but Chihiro isn't having any of it.

“Pleeeeeeease, Ryoji!” She pleads, clasping her hands together and looking up at you as she sits on the edge of your bed.

I'm not really that fussed, I know this whole thing is waifubait and the setting is generic, though I think Booker actually writes quite well and the characters all have some depth to them at the least, but right now the thread is going slow as dicks so I'm just keeping it on the front page to attract players quicker

"It's true," Ken says as he rises from his slumber on the top bunk. "I've seen her fight before. She's pretty good."

"Definitely better than some of the others in the group!" Chihiro adds. "If they can join, then so should I!"

"Okay, you can stop arguing your case," you mutter, "I already said you can join. Now, if you'll excuse me, I have to change."

There is a silence between the two of you, as Chihiro continues to sit smiling on your bed. "That means you have to get out."

Chihiro pouts as she gets off your bed and heads for the door. "Oh, you're no fun!"

You sigh as she shuts the door behind her. You turn towards Ken. "You ready?"

Ken nods. "We're going to find her today, I know it."

"Let's hope so."

You drop your bag by your desk in the morning and let out a yawn. Last few nights have been rough, and you have no idea when the next safe day is so that you can properly catch up on sleep. Oh well, at least you'll be able to sleep through class.

The door swings open as an unexpected face walks into the room. Yamato, the head of Class 3, has apparently decided to pay a little visit. Standing at the front of the class, he receives a large number of angry stares from the Class. He calls you over with his hands.

"Ryoji... may I speak to you for a second?" His voice is raspy and unemotive, a strange fit for his face.

Yamato nods. "Very well then. Come with me."

You take a few steps forward, before Saki bursts from her chair. "No way! Ryoji, you aren't actually coming with this guy, are you? What if it's a trap? If he wants to just get you alone so he can kill you?"

Yamato slowly turns his head towards Saki. "Miss Kobashi, correct? You and I fought in town the day of the battle."

Saki storms up to him and presses her finger into his chest. "Yeah! And I showed you what the head of Class 2 is capable of!"

Yamato looks her deep into the eyes and nods. "Indeed you did. You are a very capable combatant, and you continued to march forward against me even knowing that you were going to lose. That was very brave. I have a great deal of respect for you, Miss Kobashi."

"You... you do?" Saki takes a step back and begins to blush. Damn this guy and his strange charm.

Saki tries hard to shake off the initial goosebumps of the attractive older guy giving her compliments. "J-just... don't try anything funny. Ryoji's under protection, understand? From Principal Wei himself!"

"And I respect your grandfather's orders. He's a great man," Yamato replies as he makes his way to the door, with you in tow. He shuts the door carefully behind him as he enters the hallway. "She has spirit. I could use a girl like her."

"Just tell me what you wanted," you grumble, shoving your hand into your jacket pocket.

"We're we just about to speak to your classmate, Raiden," he explains. "A sort of... I hesitate to say interrogation, but I fail to come up with a softer word that still applies. I would like you to be present during."

You shake your head. "You serious? That whackjob tried to kill me!"

"Yes, but he is of no danger to you now. I'm certain you have questions you wish to ask him yourself."

Yamato nods. "I figured you would. I'll take you to him."

"Where are you guys keeping him anyway?" You ask. "Some kind of secret underground dungeon?"

"What kind of group do you think we are?" Yamato replies. "We keep him in homeroom."

Yamato leads you towards Class 3's homeroom, on the far end of the school close to Principal Wei's personal office. He knocks on the door to the rhythm of the old nursery rhyme Mary had a little Lamb, before you hear several clicks as the door is unlocked. The door creaks open, as Nina stands on the other end with a sword drawn.

Damn, these goons really are the paranoid type.

"Put down your weapon, Nina, I've just brought Ryoji along," Yamato explains.

You're lead into the room. It looks a lot like your homeroom, only it's a total mess, with chairs and table strewn all across the floor. The blonde guy, Yasutake is eating a bunch of ribs in the corner and getting the juices everywhere, while Kamiko is tearing apart a straw training dummy set up by the window.

Worst of all, you see Raiden hunkered into the corner, his arms behind his back, chained to a strong pipe in the corner. You see the cuts and wearing on his wrists caused by days of struggle.

"It appears gruesome, but don't worry. We've ensured he gets whatever food and water he needs," Yamato says.

Well, that makes it less barbaric, but it's hardly a comfortable or humane sight. The cuts on Raiden's wrists aren't all you notice, either. "He didn't have those scars on his face when I met him," you mutter.

Taka laughs, leaning back in his chair with his feet resting on a desk. "Yeah, that's my handiwork. The little runt hasn't said a word since we brought him in. I thought I could at least get a squeal out of him."

"That's torture, you jackass!" you yell at Taka. He shifts in his chair before leaning back again, having temporarily forgotten his orders not to harm you.

"I assure you that I didn't condone this," Yamato shakes his head. "Taka was appropriately reprimanded for his actions."

You stare down at Raiden, who is staring at the ground. The guy seems to barely be holding onto consciousness, and he absolutely reeks. Hasn't had anything resembling a wash since he was taken in. "He hasn't said anything?" you ask.

"Not a word. Refuses to acknowledge us most of the time," Taka explains. "Figured he might say something to you. You being his target and everything."

Yamato places a hand on your shoulder. "If you wish, we can clear the room. Wait outside."

Do they really expect him to talk with the guy who carved into his damn face sitting only a few feet away? As Kamiko coldly slices away at that training dummy? While Yasutake laughs and munches down on ribs, while Raiden starves. You don't really have any sympathy for the guy who tried to kill you not long ago, but even you can tell this is monstrous.

"You heard him, troops." Yamato snaps his fingers. "Everybody out."

Taka huffs as he shoots from his chair, allowing it to fall back as he makes his way towards the door. "You better make that runt talk. I'm starting to get real fed up with the silent treatment. I might have to stop being nice."

As the rest of Class 3 pool out of the room and Yamato shuts the door behind him, standing right outside, you hunker down to interact with Raiden.

"Hey... you hungry?" you ask, not really believing Yamato's story.

Raiden doesn't answer, and he continues to look at the floor.

"Thirsty?"

Still, no answer.

You sigh, trying to think of something to ask. "So... why's you try to kill me? Seems a little rude, don't you think?"

"I already told you why..." Raiden finally speaks up. "There's no deeper meaning than what I told you. You deserved to know why I was going to dispatch you before I did it. So I told you... why would I hide anything?"

Raiden lets out a pained breath as he shifts his position, looking you in the eye. "Maya was my friend, and I loved her more than you could ever love something... but the Darkworld took her from me. I wasn't fair... she was just a young girl. A girl with a bright future ahead of her. After her death, nothing else mattered to me, except getting revenge for her death. That meant killing them all, every single last Darkworlder... and that includes you, Ryoji. There's nothing else to it. No deeper meaning. I worked alone, no conspiracy at play here, no matter what the other class insists. Perhaps I made a mistake... but if you are the monster I believe you to be, killing you would make me a hero. It was a risk I was willing to take, and I don't regret it. If I had the chance, I'd do it again."

A tense silence fills the air before Raiden speaks up again. "And yes... I am hungry."

You walk over towards the far corner of the room, where Yasutake has abandoned his plate of ribs. You grab the plate and make your way over to Raiden, holding one up.

"I can't eat this with my hands like this..." Raiden mutters.

You sigh and grab a pair of chopsticks on the plate and use them to hold the rib up in front of Raiden's face, as he begins to tuck away at it like a baby bird being fed by it's mother.

"You're not the only one who's lost a loved one to the Darkworld," you begin. "It's been going on for decades. Rather than mindlessly killing the Darkworlders, wouldn't you rather find the cause of this whole mess and bring and end to it?"

Raiden swallows down a piece of meat before speaking. "And if you are the cause? I believed I was doing exactly that."

"But you don't know for sure, do you?" you reply.

There is a long silence, only occasionally broken up by Raiden leaning forward and chewing on the rib. "You're right..." he mutters. "I should have performed further investigation. No matter... I will prove that you are the source of the Darkworld interfering in ours... and only when I show the whole world of that truth will I kill you."

"That's the... spirit?"

You stand and dust yourself off. You suppose you should at least let Yamato back into the room. You walk towards the door... before the walls begin to melt away. The floor begins to crack beneath your feet... dammit, looks like the Darkworld was particularly eager today, choosing to show up in the morning.

You wake up inside a dark hallway, with the walls decorated with all sorts of cute cartoons, though the paint is worn. It appears to be some kind of... nursery? You see the figure of a small girl sitting, crying on the floor of the hallway, but as you approach her she fades and dissipates. A ghostly apparition, perhaps a spirit? Or perhaps some kind of memory of Alices.

As you adjust yourself to your new surroundings, you become aware of the fact that Raiden now has his hands free, as he weakly brings himself to his feet. Looking around you can see that you've been completely separated from Class 3.

"What now?" Raiden asks. "My muscles are so worn... I won't be able to fight anything. I'll be as weak as you are for the current time. I cannot defend myself, nor do I wish to defend you."

Raiden uses his now free arm to wipe the rib juices from his mouth. "I don't exactly have a choice, do I? If I want to survive, I'll have to stay with you... that is, if I want to survive."

You turn your head back to face him. "What, feeling suicidal all of a sudden?"

"There's no all of a sudden about it," Raiden explains. "After Maya's death, my entire life's worth became dispatching those monsters. I I can't do that... then I might as well be dead."

Great, now he's brooding. As if he couldn't get any worse. "Maya's death hit you real hard, didn't it?"

Raiden looks away from you as he continues to walk. "Of course it did. I loved her. We were as close as can be. You'd feel the same if someone close to you had been taken. Imagine if Miss Kobashi was killed? Or your roomate, Ken Tajiri. Or your friend, Kosuke? How do you think you'd react?"

You never really thought about it before. Considering your condition, you were so worried about your own chances of survival all this time, you almost forgot that even the capable students aren't invincible. You never imagined it... you didn't dare to. The idea of looking over in your chair to find an empty seat where Kosuke once was. To go without ever having Saki yelling in your ear again. To go fishing alone... the possibility is terrifying. Even more terrifying than the strange ghostly visions and spirits that flit in and out of your field of view.

"What is this place?" you wonder aloud. "Why is the Darkworld suddenly a nursery?"

"You tell me..." Raiden mutters, hobbling along.

And then you see her. At the end of a long hallway, you see Alice, staring at you. She tilts her head and smiles, before running down the stairs behind her. As you approach, a sign on the wall tells you that they lead to a basement. You begin to take a few steps, before Raiden stops you.

"Where do you think you're going?" he asks. "Joining your friend?"

"She's the reason we're here," you explain. "If we don't catch her, this whole trip won't be worth it!"

"And if you follow her down there... then what?" Raiden asks. "You can't fight her. I can't fight her. Only the others can help you. Let's keep going."

"Fine," Raiden replies, "I won't begrudge you if you wish to get yourself killed."

You quicken your pace as you rush down the steps into the dark basement below, Raiden following close behind. Beneath, you find a long narrow passage with all sorts of wiring and fuses along the walls. You can barely see in front of your face, as the place is filled with some kind of thick fog.

"I don't see her anywhere," Raiden mutters. "Didn't she come down here just a few seconds ago?"

"We need to keep moving," you reply. "If this is a basement, and the stairs are behind us, we should be able to corner her if we follow this path."

"Are we cornering her, or is she cornering us?" he fires back. A thought you had considered, but didn't want to dwell on.

As you continue onward, you begin to make out the silhouette of a small girl. You stop in your tracks as soon as you realise that the girl isn't walking away from you, but rather towards you. Perhaps Alice has decided she wants to talk after all.

As the silhoutte gets closer, you quickly realise that it isn't Alice. Not at all. This young girl doesn't have a head, and is dragging along a stuffed animal as black goo drips from her fingers. Some sort of strange Darkworld creature coming towards you.

The creature extends its arm, as it reaches out to you. Or more specifically, as it reaches out to your neck.

You ready yourself and charge forward, pushing the little headless girl to the side with your shoulder and running on ahead. You continue to run down through the passage, when you hear the sound of a thud behind you. You look back, and see Raiden has been taken down by the girl, as it slowly begins to wrap its hand around his neck.

"Dammit, Raiden..." you mutter, trying to think of a way to help the guy out. You run back, trying to kick the girl off of him, but you just end up hurting your foot.

"Leave me..." Raiden mutters, between breaths as the girl's grip tighten around his throat.

"What? But you'll die!" you exclaim.

"I was already... dead..." he gasps out as his face begins to turn blue. Dammit, you can't let him die. You pull a lead pipe out of the wall and try bashing the girl with it. Nothing, the pipe just bends in your hand, and the creature doesn't even react to you.

As you already run out of ideas, a saviour arrives, as a spear shoots through the fog, impaling the headless child... though the tip of the spear only just about manages to miss Raiden's face.

Raiden is freed from the creature's grip as the spear pulls out, and the headless child melts into black goo.

You already recognised the spear, but it was a real relief to you as Akio steps forward from the fog, with the rest of the DJD in tow.

"There you are, Ryoji!" Chihiro exclaims, running up to you and embracing you with a wide and forceful hug. "You worried us all half to death!"

"Hey Ryoji... what do you want us to do with Psycho Raiden over here?" Seishiro asks, his guns pointed down towards the pale black-haired boy.

"Don't kill him!" you protest.

"I wasn't suggesting that!" Seishiro fires back. "But should we tie him up or something? Can't trust this guy."

Seishiro lowers his guns and sighs. "Okay, if you think so..."

Sayeka approaches Raiden and offers her hand. "Come on, let me help you up," she says with a smile.

Raiden spits on the ground before shaking his head. "Don't patronise me. I can do it myself."

Raiden slowly rises to his feet as the rest of you carry on down the passageway.

"Why are you even down here?" Ken asks, walking by your side. "We only came down here because we heard the struggling..."

"Alice is down here," you answer. "Me and Raiden followed her down. If we can make it to the end of this passage, she'll be there."

"Aunt Alice is close?" Chihiro exclaims with excitement. "Oh, I just have to see her!"

"Chihiro, wait!" you call out, but it's too late. Chihiro has already ran ahead of the rest of the group.

"Did she just say Aunt Alice?" Akio ponders.

"I'll explain later," you mutter as you chase after her.

Chihiro is happily and obliviously skipping down the hallway, without a care in the world. So of course, the ground begins to give way beneath her. Before she can fall into the pit below, you grab her by the hand and pull her back. She lets out a deep breath as she falls flat on her ass. "That... was a close one, wasn't it?" she laughs, before noticing the look on your face. "Oh, have I upset you, Ryoji?"

"What the hell, Chihiro?" you demand. "You can't just run ahead like that! Shit like this happens!"

Chihiro pouts. "Oh... I'm sorry. It won't happen again, I promise!"

You shake your head. If Chihiro continues to act recklessly like that, she can get herself or someone else killed. You aren't exactly keen on the idea of everyone dying because one of your classmates decided to act like an idiot.

"I know you're excited to see your aunt, but this isn't some kind of family reunion, Chihiro. Our lives are on the line here."

You stand up and dust yourself of, taking lead of the group as you walk around the pit.

"Oh, I think I've upset him..." Chihiro mumbles as she falls behind you.

"You should probably act less stupid," Kosuke shrugs.

"He's just concerned," Ken explains. "He doesn't want us getting hurt. None of us do."

"We're nearing the end..." Rei mentions as you continue down the hallway. "That girl's avoided us for far too long. It feels good to actually have her cornered."

As you reach the end of the passage, you are both surprised and dismayed to see it open up into a large outside area. Of course, the Darkworld never got the memo on how physics or geography works.

"Or maybe not..." Rei mutters. "Dammit."

As creepy as that nursery was, the cemetary you just wandered into takes the cake. Every gravestone seems to have a face attached to it, and every face looks so... real. So... alive.

"I guess the search continues..." Rini sighs, frustrated.

"No... she's here," you reply, pointing off into the distance. Alice is standing alone among the headstones... just waiting for you to come over. Practically beckoning you to approach.

Despite a few protests from Chihiro, you make the decision to move forward alone, with the rest waiting back, only to interfere in the event that Alice gets stabby again. As you reach her, you see that Alice is looking a lot... rougher than she was last time. Her eyes are glowing red, she looks dishevelled, and there appears to be something protruding from her head. Some sort of horn... she's looking a lot more like a demon now.

You take a step forward, and from the ground bursts a giant creature in a rabbit mask. Her Darkworld protector, so opposed to leaving her side. "Beware the Jabberwock, my son! The jaws that bite, the claws that catch!"

You recognise the poem, you've been reading up on that book Hikaru gave you. But how does that next part go again? "Uhh... Beware the... Jubjub bird? And shun the... frumious... Cumberbatch?"

"Bandersnatch, but close!" Alice smiles. "You've been learning!"

"Yeah... I have." You look around. "So, Alice... where are we right now?"

"So many..." she mutters. "So many died in the Darkworld..."

"Yeah, and you killed them," you mutter under your breath.

Alice looks at you and shakes her head. "I never killed anyone... I just saw them die. One day, I got sick of it. It was all very horrid. So, I made this place, to remember all of them."

She smiles and puts a hand to her chest, reciting another poem. "O Oysters, said the Carpenter, You've had a pleasant run! Shall we be trotting home again? But answer came there none. And this was scarcely odd, because they'd eaten every one."

You feel inside your back pocket. The letter's still there... the letter Alice wrote to her sister back when she was a normal human. You hesitate to pull it out... will she remember it? Calling out details of her life before gave her pause, a break between the madness where you could see some humanity left in there... but then it ended in her stabbing you furiously. You don't really want a repeat of that...

The glowing of Alice's eye begin to fade as she thinks. "Faint... faint glimpses... Charlotte..."

She mentioned Charlotte, her sister. So there is some of that memory remaining. "You remember her? You remember your sister?"

"Sister? I don't... have a... sister... GAH!" Alice clutches her head in her hands, suffering from some kind of apparent migraine. "I don't have a sister!" she screams in pain. "I don't have a sister! There is no Charlotte! Stop!"

She hunkers down, grimacing in pain. She appears to be struggling with something... but what? Herself?

"Oh my god... That's MAYA!" You hear Raiden yell in the distance. "The face on the gravestone... it's Maya's!"

"And here's my cousin Sho!" Chihiro adds. "And Daisuke's right next to him! What's going on?"

"I'll tell you what's going on," Raiden grunts, "That monster killed them all, and she keeps them here as trophys! Mocking us! I'm not going to let it get away with this!"

Being caught off guard, Seishiro finds Raiden swiping one of his guns and limping towards Alice as fast as his strength can carry him, firing a shot off in her direction. Well, there goes the conversation.

You can't let her get shot, she's supposed to be the answer to all of your questions! And you were just on the verge of a breakthrough! Dammit, Raiden!

Acting on instinct, you leap in front of the bullet, taking it into your shoulder. You fall to the ground in pain. Son of a bitch, does that hurt. What's worse is Alice noticed the act of aggression on the part of Raiden... or at least, her rabbit protector did. You're still a little fuzzy on what that thing is. Is it its own creature, or just an extension of Alice's psyche, as everything here seems to be? Either way, it's on the move, gliding towards Raiden. A swipe of the hand sends him flying, as he lands back-first atop a gravestone. He falls back, possibly having shattered his spine, as the rest of the group go into action.

Sayeka charges forward angrily, likely disappointed in herself that she stopped watching Raiden momentarily. She swipes her katana at the creature, but it leaps into the air. While it's airbourne, Akira fires an explosive shot at it from her bayonet. It hits, but doesn't seem to do any damage. The creature lands on its feet hard, causing the ground beneath it to crack, as it kicks Sayeka a fair distance away. Rini comes at it next, but her punches are ineffective.

Akio readies his spear and Seishiro takes his gun back from the downed Raiden. "You ready, pal?" Seishiro asks, twirling the pistols in his hands in a cocky manner.

"As always," Akio replies. "Let's take this bunny down."

The typical Darkworld black goo rises from the ground beneath the rabbit, taking the shape of a large Halberd the creature wields in it's hand. Great, now that thing has a weapon.

"My name isn't Alice!" she screams, clutching her skull and tearing at her hair. "It's not! I'm not Alice! I'm not Alice Maddox, not anymore!"

"Yes, you are..." you hunker down to her level. "Come on, I know there's still some of that human girl in there. Sixty years in this place still isn't enough to wipe away all of your humanity."

"This place... sixty years..." she mutters, before grimacing with pain. "I've had it! I give myself very good advice, but I very seldom follow it! I am Alice Maddox, and I don't belong here!”

She rises to her feet, and raises her hand to the rabbit, seemingly trying to command it. The glow from her eyes is now completely gone. The demonic horn has shrunk back, and she's begun to take an overall more human appearance. She winces as the Rabbit continues to make short work of the DJD. Ken is batted several feet through the air with minimal effort from the creature, while Akio and Seishiro are both tossed aside. Soon, Rei and Sayeka are the only members still able to walk.

"Are you turning that thing off?" You ask. "Because it doesn't look like it."

"I can't... it's not mine anymore..." she mutters. "I have to kill it."

"How? We're having a real hard time of it!" you reply.

Alice pulls out a knife from inside her hood. The same knife she stabbed you with. "With this. My vorpal blade. One strike is all it takes."

Alice begins to step towards the rabbit, readying her blade, when she is tackled and taken down by... Shinji?

The knife slides from Alice's grip as she is pinned down, and you look up to see that Class 3 have joined the action, taking on the giant rabbit.

"I've got her!" Shinji yells. "Take down that thing and we can question her!"

Class 3 are certainly doing more damage to the thing than the DJD did, and they aren't getting their asses kicked, but you still doubt that anything they do alone will stop it. Killing that thing will require that knife, that... Vorpal blade, as Alice described it.

Dammit, of course Class 3 would try to do things as aggressively as possible. You rush over to Shinji and pull on him by the shoulders. You can barely budge him the guy's so heavy and stocky. "Get off her, you idiot!" you yell. "She was just about to save your ass!"

Shinji, hearing you, begins to loosen his grip and allows you to pull him back. As he gets off her, Alice immediately crawls and scrambles across the ground until she grabs the blade once again. She lifts it and picks herself off the ground, before turning and coming towards Shinji, brandishing the knife. Seeing this, you grab her by the wrist, trying to stop her. "What are you doing?"

"He hurt me!" She screams, pointing at Shinji.

"Yes, but remember what you were doing," you plead, pointing towards the rabbit. "That's your target, not him."

Alice pauses, then nods her head. Breaking free from your grip, she runs towards the rabbit. With Class 3 keeping it distracted, it isn't difficult for Alice to come in from behind and jam the knife into the back of the creature with fierce determination. The beast lets out a deafening roar as it begins to dissipate. Alice falls to her knees, and lets out a pained scream as the world around you begins to melt away.

You and the others find yourselves inside Class 3's homeroom... odd, as it's not where the DJD entered the Darkworld from. You clutch your forehead, a throbbing headache piercing your skull. You made a lot of progress tonight, somehow you managed to get through to Alice, and she seems to have remembered who she was in life, though her understanding of those memories seems fragile. It's a shame you left the Darkworld before you had a chance to interact with her more, but you're sure you can pick up where you left off tomorrow...

"Uhh, guys?" Rei mutters, pointing towards the front of the homeroom. "Look!"

Your attention is turned towards a small light-blond haired girl cheerfully sitting atop the front desk in the room, gazing around in wonder. Alice... in your world.

"What the hell?"

Alice smiles and waves as the room turns their eyes towards her. "Hello, everyone!"

"Why is she here?" Ken asks. "Why?"

Alice decides to answer that question herself. "That place didn't interest me anymore... so I left."

"What the hell?!" you exclaim. "Why the hell didn't you do that earlier?!"

Alice shrugs. "I didn't want to. Besides, I didn't know where I'd be leaving to." She hops off the desk and begins to examine her surroundings. She carefully caresses the walls of the room, pressing her ear against it and knocking on it. "Where is this place? It looks dirty... and... familiar..."

She clutches her head in pain and winces. At least she's less weird and cryptic, much more aware of her surroundings... but it's clear she's still not all there.

"Aunt Alice?" Chihiro asks, approaching her.

Alice raises and eyebrow. "Aunt...? That's right... my name is Alice Maddox... but who is Aunt? Not me! No, no, no! That's a silly name!"

Taka grunts, apparently having heard enough, as he charges over and grabs Alice by her hair, pulling her up off her feet. She screams in pain, as Chihiro draws her daggers. "What do you think you're doing, you oaf?!" she screams.

"Back off kid, unless you want a face full of guantlet!" he fires back, holding up his backhand.

"Taka, put the Darkworlder down," Yamato orders. At least he still manages to be reasonable. "Ryoji... you and your group can go now."

"What are you talking about?" you ask. "We were just talking to her. This is the big breakthrough we've been waiting for."

"Yes, and now your role in this is over," Yamato explains. "The arrangement with Principal Wei was that we assisted in the capture of the Darkworlder, and then she would be placed into our custody."

"So, she's your prisoner?" Ken asks. "No way! We can't allow that!"

Yamato shakes his head. "This no longer concerns you. We will keep Alice in our care, while Tekina runs tests on her. Don't worry, we'll treat her humanely."

"As humanely as you've treated Raiden?" you spit back.

"That reminds me," Kamiko mutters, "Time to put Raiden back where he belongs."

Several members of Class 3 move to pick up Raiden, who can't walk on his own strength, back to the corner where they chain him up.

"This is for the good of everyone," Yamato explains. "What is the alternative? That we let her roam free after all that's happened?"

"Sedation?" you yell.

"Light sedation... nothing harmful, just enough to keep her abilities in check. And don't worry, you'll be able to pay visit briefly every day. You were the one she was able to talk to this whole time, you're important if we need to get answers from her, and to make her feel welcome."

Chihiro clenches her fists. "Well then could I visit her too?"

"Why would you?" Yamato asks, confused.

"Because she's my aunt!"

Yamato stares at Chihiro. "I don't know what you mean by that, but if it helps our classes come to an understanding, then I'll allow it."

Yamato points towards Taka. "You are not to lay a hand on Alice again, understand?"

Taka huffs. "You got it, boss."

Yamato approaches a scared and tearful Alice and hunkers down to her level. He extends a hand. "Hello there, Alice. My name is Yamato."

"He pulled my hair!" she cries, pointing towards Taka. "It hurt!"

"It won't happen again, I promise." Yamato places a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Alice, I understand that you may be confused. We are too, as a matter of fact. Here's what's going to happen. You're going to stay with us and we're going to keep a close eye on you, to make sure both you and everyone around you stays safe. We have a lot of questions about where you came from, and you have a lot of questions about where you are. I think we can help eachother out, okay?"

Alice looks at Yamato's hand and pauses in thought.

"Don't do it Aunt Alice, it's a trick..." Chihiro angrily mutters under her breath.

"Okay..." Alice replies, taking Yamato's hand. Damn his freakish charm just works on everyone but you, doesn't it?

Yamato helps Alice to her feet, before lifting her into his arms in a princess style carry. Under all that stoicness, the bastard fancies himself a romantic hero, doesn't he?

"She's made her decision," Yamato states. "We'll call Tekina in soon. For now, I ask that your group leave, Ryoji. I don't wish to force you out.

Angrily and reluctantly, the DJD are led out of the room. As soon as you reach the hall, Rei punches the nearest wall in frustration.

"They aren't going to hurt my Aunt, are they?" Chihiro shudders at the thought.

You shake your head. After all the work you and the DJD did to find Alice, communicate with her, and bring her back here, Class 3 are just going to take over? And they have the Principal's blessing. What rotten luck.

"I don't know, Chihiro..." you reply. "But I do know one thing. This isn't over. Not by a long shot."

Going from the light hinting you dropped when Ken first said he thought she might not be the monster she first seemed [an option to tease im about crushing on the darkworlder], I except there to be at least a friendship built there, if not just Ken getting attached for the sake of justice dispensing. But be real, Ken's too kind heated to not strike someone as friend material right away, she'd have to be madder than we thought to not try and befriend him.

That said, seeing her, Ken, and Nanami develop into a comedic mirror to Rei, us, and Saki would be pretty great just for the fun of it. And ESPECIALLY for Ryoji and Ken bonding over 'girl troubles'. And Ryoji wondering if Ken and Alice is to similar on a conceptual level to HIM and Ken, and getting a gay-scare out of it all, would be fucking hilarious.
