One of her eyebrows rises briefly, and you notice her lower lip slightly rising; you wonder if it’s a tiny smirk. It vanishes.

"Child, I know even things I try not to know. Be forward with me.Tell me what happened."

“I was…” You say and quickly halt the flow of your mind as Enna stares at you intently. “Lying to a witch?”

“My mind wanders, great witch. I… I failed to convince the himehorns in accepting me as their Leader. Then…”

>”…I was kidnapped by a templar. She insisted on being called “Trash”; she intends to be my bodyguard, or something of the sort.”
>”…I wandered around to deal with my thoughts, there the himehorn escape took me by surprise.”

The haremhorn cowers behind your wheelchair. You don’t feel like either sparing some kind words for her bravery or concern about her panic; just as you feel about the titanic presence you can't quite place as you talk to the Witch.

"There we go." Her gaze strays. "I see you met Suhuru, then."

You are met with sudden hesitation.

"Great Witch... may I take you are aware of everything that happens in your domain."

"She calls me "Frowns", and has recently taking a liking at drawing my face on our currency." She shrugs; this almost draws a "Uh?" from your lips, but that over there... an odd Witch is a Witch nevertheless. "I take it you are familiar with the concept by now."

"...Just barely, great witch. I..."

...You wonder if you should ask again or if she avoided the question deliberately. But as you consider it...

"Great Witch, are you aware of all that happens in your domain?"

...it just blurts out. She smiles at this.

"Is your kind familiar with chess?"

"Chess?"

"Any game of sorts?"

"We... we used to play cards, great witch. Im not sure if we were that skilled at them."

"Imagine we are playing cards, then. And with one swift move of my arm, I throw yours out of the table."

You just stare at her, wondering if there might be a wrong answer for this... wondering too much. It seems she notices.

This Anonhorn >>137416 asks the question we need answered

>>137379

"About the details of my task.
I have to prepare the himehorns to be proper citizens of your domain, yes, but still, I am just a himehorn and I only know how to live like one. She "hmms" at this. For some reason you make a mental notice to improve your own "hmm"; then wonder what is wrong with you.

"The White Witch Algis has awakened sixty years ago and the vampires were eradicated from this world only eight years later; the White Bat is gone. With some exceptions of course; you met our most shining example already."

She frowns, suddenly.

"Child, you would do well to remember she can be very, very clingy at times."

"I-I will remember, great witch."

She nods. "The himehorn extermination campaigns have resumed, for they intend to cleanse this land except for this small city; you can take for granted they won't ever dare."

"Great witch, I do not intend to waste your time... but I have to prepare the himehorns to be proper citizens of your domain, yes, but still, I am just a himehorn and I only know how to live like one. I will need to learn what entails to be ¨a proper citizen¨ myself first before teaching the others. So I need someone to teach me… and there is also the issue about our needs. Our nests, food and other things we usually need."

She visibly rises an eyebrow; then sighs. Slowly.

"We have Trash to blame for that. You are familiar with Umo, already."

"Umo?"

"She has horns like you."

She puts both hands in her head, spreading the fingers. You... don't know what to say.

"White horns."

She looks bored. You struggle for an answer.

"See-trough horns."

You gasp.

"We have Suhuru to blame for that." she resumes, "Umo came to me and requested to be the one to teach you the ways of the "nohorns"; I take those would be us. It was a matter of timing. I'd like to think it's somewhat funny."

"I was wondering... so when Tra-Suhuru took me into the alley."

Another half-hearted nod. But you resume.

"Great witch, if..."

She frowns. You seem to be having a hard time getting used to the awareness of a god-like being.

"I am aware of every detail. It does not mean I understand; and I do not intend to pretend as much."

You are seriously considering to leave it at that.

"Anything else?" She does not seem annoyed or bored, to your relief.

"This audience, is over."

She lifts her pipe slowly to her lips; you turn around to the haremhorn crouching behind you, and were not for the numbness that drowns you as of late you wonder if you would fare any better. You hit the wheelchair a few times anyway; she quickly rises and without a retort handles the wheelchair and heads to the door; this time it opens. You realize she didn't answer about the resources; you wonder if she would notice if you said it out loud.

You don't even raise your voice; "Great witch, I...I may have forgotten to ask about the resources... I don't recall if I did. I don't intend to be a bother, either..."

As the haremhorn pushes the wheelchair towards the theater, you patiently wait for something to happen, some kind of signal. You quickly realize this can't be the signal as you are startled by a sound like leaves and you find yourself staring at Trash's head coming out... of a trashcan.

"I got intel!"

She seems pleased with herself. You lean your horns closer to the head under the trashcan's cover...

"You haven't been ripped apart by muscles horns. That is very nice."

"Trash."

"They made a deal with me. I said yes; they wanted me to deal with the hornscum. Im in, and you are going to pay me, and Im getting a new bed very soon. Mine is shaped like a banana; I might be growing a hump."

"That... is a very good news. Why are you in a trashcan?"

"It's actually a tunOH we'l talk later!"

She goes down so fast the cover floats for one second until in crashes against the trashcan. You pat the wheelchair again and the haremhorn nods, the wheelchair moves. As you leave, you notice someone is opening the trashcan and throwing soup in there.

And now you are there, again; about to enter the teather. About to face the himehorns again, the musclehorn and smallhorn you saved, the haremhorn that survived a shower of shots out of pure love for the herd because you allowed yourself to trust in them, in the nohorns... it's very tempting to take a leap of fate and avoid the game of thinking. You sigh... maybe too tempting at times.

You are now faced with rows of red seats going from under to the very top; there are himehorns in them. Hurt, scared, damaged, sad, lonely... maybe crazy you think, as you notice the haremhorn among the few himehorns among them that are staring at you. Slowly their horns turn to you, and a bit to the right from the very center of the seats you notice your herd; you notice hope. One of you hornmother stands up and yells "LEAAADEER!" and you are met with a painful feeling in your chest as all the himehorns turn to her; and then to you.

You faintly recall what Alina told you; and the odd black ball near your mouth.

With your stare focused on them, you slide your hand towards the tiny wheel in your head and the button almost right next to it.

"I KNOW..."

You slowly slide it back; some himehorns cower while others grab each other.

"...you're all hurt and scared, but now isn't the time to cower. We've been given another chance from the witch. She wants us to become a part of her herd, but the only way to do that is to learn how the nohorns live. If we can't they will leave us and then we'll be stuck out in the white with the templars again."

Black eyes look at you from every corner of your eye. Even your herd seems shaken; small horns popping in pairs from the basket on the haremhorn's lap. You wonder if Alina is using the rest of them as scabbards... briefly.

"Do not wander outside; do not leave this place, we are not ready for this world."

You said it slow and focused.

"I do not understand it, either. But there is something we have to believe; that some of them are afraid of us, very afraid of us. And that they will use any chance and any excuse we give them against us. DO NOT GIVE THEM THE CHANCE. THEY WILL TAKE IT!"

They get startled, some hornmothers even shake a little. It worked; all you had to do was think of those sad eyes on the musclehorn.

"...and some of them are Templars; yes, they are here. With us."

For one small moment you clench your left arm as you notice the snowhorn, this time sitting alone in the front row of red chairs. She's moving her legs back and forth as she looks at you from below: you remember her name is Umo. You focus.

"Do not hunt; do not leave. I have been bestowed the power of "cash", a nohorn value that will bring us food and resources."

You pause, wondering what cash actually is, how nohorns get it, why do they want it... maybe it's very tasty? Your focus seem to wander when you most need it as of late.

"I may be an Old Leader but I AM a Leader, I'll keep being one for as long as I'm alive."

And with that, you rest... if only for a tiny little while.

It's like she sucked all the attention from you; a single hornmother, wait... so she was not a dream either. One of her horns is held together by a sturdy looking silver stick going from earth to sky, and her robe has so many tiny details from slight cuts to different textures and necklaces... it’s tempting to just assume that's a Leader.

Both you and the broken horn Leader let the silence set it; and she continues.

"Those of you wary; there are no herds. Not anymore. You are not used to it, I am not, it's not comfortable and it's not nice and I know none of you and your smell makes me nervous. Allow yourself to think about it, and you will come to find this is the only sane path laid before us. To join together as one big herd or perish each of us on her own."

You nod, more than once. Sometimes the only choices you have are different ways to make do or denying reality altogether; and the second none of you can afford right now. Glancing at a barely lit corner, you notice eggs; they must be from the same herd.

"Hornmothers." It's the Leader. "Or any other Leader around; we need your input."

No one stands. Not a single hornmother; they love arguing, playing, arguing over games, eating, arguing over snacks, dancing, arguing over arguing... they were not ready for this. Not one of you; but they are the most frail of all. The broken horn Leader waits a little longer; then she "hmms".

"Then it's settled; I will lead you."

"Why should you?"

You are gifted with a wicked smile. "Well, I'm not a defective."

>"I have been appointed by the Witch of this domain as Leader." Not exactly what she said…
>"I've been a Leader even before I laid my first egg." You are not lying.
>"I am not a defective; the Southern Witch Apostle has chosen me for this task... because I'm a Leaderhorn." Alina would be proud.
>”Then allow me to help you; the Witch has requested that I make fitting citizens out of all of us.” All is for the herd.

That smile manages to slightly take you aback; but you retort with a whole-hearted smile of your own.

"That is correct. You are not defective like I am."

You let that settle in for a while; then the broken horn leader gestures for you to go on.

"...You did not have an audience with the witch like I had, either. Twice. She also did not tell you that you should take care of all the Horned Ones in her domain, like she told me to."

"Would you lie to us? Would pain be-"

"If you want to lead, go now. Go and tell the great Witch Enna that she made a mistake and you should be the Leader. I will wait."

You ponder about it for a second...

"We will wait."

...that should do it. It's all for the herd; you don't mind being or not the Leader, as long as the Leader can get the job done. But if a Witch appointed you, among all others... You, a numb, mentally ill defective in a wheelchair, with a single arm and less to lose with every passing day... If the Southern Witch Apostle told Enna to make you into the Leader...

There just has to be a reason.

And yet you are surrounded by bleak faces and sad black eyes, most not even scared already; fear comes when you have something to lose... what do you feel when you lost everything already?
What do you feel?

"Well, you make it seem like doubting you would be a waste of time!"

She brings you back this world and to that wicked smile.

"I believe you. Every word. I do intend-"

"LEAAADER GOO!! LEAAADEER!"

To the best of your ability, you try to frown at your cheerful hornmother and it seems to work; it does, however, make you feel kinda warm and fuzzy to know that they can still be childish and insolent. You shrug that feeling aside.

"It's all for the herd. Carry on."

The broken horn Leader nods.

"As I was saying... I do intend to be our Leader, nevertheless. You may be our proxy to the Witch, you may have been chosen by her... but I ask you, then; does she know of us?"

You look at her blankly; she carries on. Her confidence seems so reassuring; you wonder how much she lost.

"I do not know. You spoke to the Witch, I take... what would you say?"

>"She is a Witch, and therefore aware of our needs. I do not consider doubting a Witch a worthwhile gamble."

"I might."

You are now very taken aback, and once the horns that went back and forth between you and her stop at the broken horn Leader... she points to the side with her whole right arm; still looking at you. You follow the arm and the horns turning to a haremhorn sitting alone, and with some focus you notice; her lips are moving. "Happy horns, happy herd…”; it’s so hard to hear…

"She's been at it ever since we arrived."

Her wicked smile returns; "Would you have a clue about it?"

Your mind goes into a blank, but it doesn't matter; she carries on, this time looking at you as the horns turn to her again.

"We have no food. No squids; no grass, no resources. No toys for our smallhorns. Different herds in the same clutched space; would she had a clue, the Witch would have gathered us in several small places. We have five, not... six musclehorns here; I thank the Greathorn for not turning this into a bloodbath."

You briefly notice the snowhorn looking at her, her mouth wide open and her body in an awkward position.

"Not to mention our most recent hunting trip… there is no point in that, I take. And yet I grant it to you, she may had a reason for doing so in this way. But I, for one, do not understand; I fail to see the proof. I cannot bring myself to believe she did all this fully aware of our situation.”

She bites her lower lip as she looks at you moved by a force you can only label as “love”.

If doubting the Witch is wrong, then I don't want to be right."

That wasn't you; that voice was hers. Calm, powerful; she has a point. And she didn't even had to call you out on your lie.

"Now tell me..."

Her gaze shakes you; wide open black eyes staring at you under a black broken horn, you realize you didn't notice the tiny mirror in her forehead under her himecut until now.

"...why should you lead us?"

"Why should I?" you almost whisper to yourself, a defective, daydreaming old hornmother that failed to save her own Leader.
"Why should I?" you think some may have heard you this time, so this time you don't move your lips and a single question fills your mind, because as it stands right now there is, again, only a single way out of this one.

And now you are dreaming. You let your gaze wander around the empty red seats and passageways, only to let it rest on the odd figure that lays before you.

The odd image closes it's eyes and nods, slowly. As you close your left hand, you notice it just staring at you, not a single word coming out.

You use the Pathfinder.

Alina knew.

You slowly clench your teeth as a searing, piercing pain rushes from your left hand. You lift your gaze; the broken horn leader is looking at you blankly, along a multitude of black eyes and horns.
The question slowly gains shape in your mind.... you gasp and swallow, and rise from your wheelchair with a single swift motion, making the himehorns tremble at your height as the broken horn Leader stares at you blinking with her mouth barely open.

And you think to yourself, as you wrap your mind and fears around the question, as you faintly grip the strange contraption in your only hand...

Am I ready for this?

"You are right. The truth is I do not want to be Leader. I am defective, I am old, I survived when my new Leader and my herd did not and this is not something I wish upon on any Hornmother nor Himehorn. I want to die and meet the rest of my herd who ware waiting for me beside the Greathorn in the Green Beyond.''

Wheel over to the sad Haremhorn.

''I have no idea what the Great Witch expects me or us to do. She wants us to survive, I understand that much. I understand also that we are wasting precious time squabbling over who should be leader when there is so much to do. First we have to learn, so a tragedy like before does not repeat itself. You are lamenting that the witch did not give us what we need, but at least we have our lives when so many of us did not even get that chance. If you do not trust my ability to be leader, then at least trust my will to prevent that any Himehorn has to go through what I did.
If you want me to fight you, I will.
If you want me to beg at your feet, I will.
I would give both of my horns, if it means that it will save another Himehorn from being miserable. I have seen enough death, lost enough of my herd to mourn 10 lifetimes and I will be damned if lose another one, even if it smells differently.

And I believe this is why the Witch choose me. Is that proof enough for you? Can you say that you would do the same for any horn in this room? ''

Try to console the sad haremhorn by also singing the happy herd song.

There might have been a Leaderhorn a long, long time ago; or maybe it has always been just a good story for the smallhorns, one even Leader liked to hear you toy with.

And right now it won't matter; you can tell from their shining eyes, their renewed attention, from the comical wide-open mouth of the snowhorn, from the now risen horns of that lone haremhorn... from the gasps of your own herd...

The broken horn Leader blinks a lot, then looks around at the himehorns standing and looking at you like they saw the biggest squid that could fit on the stage...

They believe you. You can tell at least that much. The broken horn Leader quickly turns at you... and smiles widely. Not a wicked smile; a smile without her eyes frowning.

"IT SEEMS I MANAGED TO BEAT IT OUT OF YOU, LEADERHORN!!"

Your retort is drowned by the rising tide of whispers, every second the stronger; then a hornmother shouts; "BUT... BUT SHE SAID SHE WAS A...!"

"DEFECTIVE!" It's the broken horn Leader talking, so loud she rises over the whispers and takes ahold of the attention again. "Can't you all see?! That's why she didn't wanted to tell us!!"

The voices grow a lot stronger; you wonder if your own herd actually believes it, most of them grew with the stories... and the Leaderhorn could kill vampires with a templar's sword." The broken horn Leader extends both arms to the sides (a bit to your grief) and everyhorn goes quiet.

"She didn't wanted to say it... because the Leaderhorn that came in this time and age to save us from the wicked templar’s... is a defective."

Everybody goes dead quiet; until a small, very small hand is lifted. It's a not-so-small smallhorn, risen by a haremhorn.

"Are leedahshorns dat tall or is dat the deefect?"

They look at you. You already said you are a defective, so there's no way out of this one. You realize this might be a very crucial moment.

They take some time to hatch, three months for musclehorns and haremhorns and six months for hornmothers, and sometimes nothing comes out of the eggs. We grow very quickly in population even with this short lifespan, so herds end up splitting and being led by the Souther Witch Apostle through the deep underground to a safe cave of their own. I am not sure how many of us are in the caves already, or how big the underground is... it kind of makes me shiver.

They look at you, mostly astounded; some must not even understand what you mean. Maybe most of them.

It happens all the time. Randomly; in all of the long years of your life you failed to find a pattern to the frequency of the daydreaming. If there is on thing certain is that will find out more sooner than later if you lie this one out. So you take a deep breath, and let the words flow;

"I start dreaming all of a sudden without any kind of warning or explanation, and while I do I get paralyzed... You did notice it, after this Leader asked me why should I lead you... I was dreaming, it was a brief dream, but for one short time I was not here."

You stick out your left hand, and tilt your head towards it; the haremhorn slides your sleeve back and holds it. You notice most himehorns leaning their horns a bit closer, even the broken horn Leader.

"This is the Pathfinder. It's a device of my own invention. The only way for me to wake from a dream-"

"How do u taak so hai?"

It's the smallhorn. You smile at him, the rest of them still staring at you dumb folded. You point at the tiny ball in front of your mouth.

"This is a megacrophone. It's a nohorn device."

"So Leedahshorns taak like us too?"

"Yes, we do."

It seems the broken horn Leader had already figured it out. You feel a tiny bit of relief for not trying to turn it into a superpower of sorts.

"As I was saying, the only way for me to wake up for a dream is to feel a lot of pain. This device is ingrained under my skin and renders the flesh on the palm of my hand when I press this tiny wire over... here. I use it to wake up on my own. It... it's very painful."

"How can you use it if you are asleep?"

It's a hornmother from another herd. Well... from your herd, now. You notice that the only worried glare is coming from the broken horn Leader, and it's like Alina told you before... when in desperation, you hold on to the most bizarre of hopes. You wonder what she could have been through.

"I trained! I can do very short movements while I'm daydreaming, I figured it out...

Is… is this a tear? You notice a fresh feeling coursing through your cheek, and you are not the only one.

I… I won’t lie. It’s a terrible defect, I’ve… I’ve dealt with it ever since…

Another tear. You realize you might as well go all out, now. So you swallow.

You hold back the casqued of feelings in your mind; this is not the time… but you fail just barely.

There was this musclehorn during the hunting trip… she was with that haremhorn over th-"

"THOSE MONSTERS!"

It's the broken horn Leader. You stare at her and blink, as your cheeks grow wet by the second.

"The nohorns murdered a musclehorn in cold blood; and they almost got Leaderhorn in the crossfire because she tried to get in between them to save her! Would they have laid a finger on her, the Witch would have certainly crushed them to a smelly puddle of blood and gore with no horns in it. But the nohorns know. They know she has been chosen! That musclehorn... she left her body a shield for that haremhorn! Let us not forget; let it be written on our foreheads, IF WE GIVE THEM A CHANCE TO HARM US, THEY WILL TAKE IT!"

She gasping a lot, it seems she's out of breath... You look at the haremhorn; she's looking at you, too.

She nods slowly. As you stare around, you notice tears are starting to flow everywhere.

"DO... NOT FORGET...!"

You let your tears flow a bit more as you sob and then shake your head; you lift your horns to the limping arms of the broken horn Leader, who's still gasping.

"That is not what happened. The nohorns surrounded the musclehorn with their long weird devices... the musclehorn was holding a nohorn as a hostage, using it to shield that haremhorn... she was hiding behind. I told the musclehorn to let her go, I wanted to show the nohorns that musclehorns are tame, that they mean no harm, that they just want to look after the herd... they killed her. She used her body to save that haremhorn. And it was my fault; my fault for trusting the nohorns."

...You notice some of the himehorns sit as others look at the floor; the broken horn Leader bites her lower lip as she stares intently at you. The big room goes dead silent; it's, again, the broken horn Leader that breaks the charm.

"The nohorns betrayed you, Leaderhorn; do not be so harsh on yourself. It was a failed attempt at preventing further disasters, but you could not have foreseen their nature. None of us could have. I couldn't have."

Suddenly, she extends both her arms widely.

"But now we know! Let her death be a warning for the future, let her death save a lot more himehorns from taking that stray step. The Leaderhorn is here. RISE!"

This gets some life back into the himehorns; some lift their horns at you. The broken horn Leader nods at you to go on. You notice the lone haremhorn just staring at the floor; crying her heart out in silence. You bite your lips and clear your throat.

"That's how it is, then! Sad and hard, this is our truth; we can rely on it, we can build our tents over this muddy ground that is our truth; It is reliable!"

You clench your left hand with a lot of strength; the tears don't stop flowing, no matter how much you wait so you lift your gaze at the himehorns and let them see your face.

"I drift! I made mistakes! I have one arm, I can't walk, I’m old and I’m a defective! That is the muddy floor that is our truth! If you do not trust my ability to be a Leader, then at least trust my will to prevent that any himehorn has to go through what I did!
If you want me to fight you, I will!

>>
>>142011
Well damn that's an episode ender if I've ever seen one.
>>
...It worked like a charm. Himehorns everywhere are standing and crying, some hugging each others and you are more than dead certain everyhorn has someone to remember right now.

You have; that's why you can't stop crying.

The sobbing and screaming rises from nearly everywhere, drowning the confused frame of the snowhorn looking at everyone and trying to pat a haremhorn next to her as she dodges her without noting and hugs a hornmother... from another herd.

But you are not done yet.

"SO!"

You startle everyone.

"Haremhorns of every herd! Let us make a symbol of our union, let's make something that shows to the new coming himehorns that they we stand united to help! This Leaderhorn will wear it!"

"LEEEADEEEER!!"

"LEEEADEEER!"

"This herd is a part of me, now. Let it be seen. Let it be known to the nohorns that no himehorn wanders alone.

Most seem exhausted by now, but you notice the hornmothers of your herd almost cheering too much and too loud. Your herd... this is your herd, now.

"Leader.... Leaderhorn! What do we make it out of?"

It's the same hornmother from before. You wipe your tears with your sleeve.

"The Witch Enna will provide. I shall make arrangements right now; what I ask of you all of you is to get to know each other. The himehorn to your right, the one to your left... she will endure this storm with you. As will I. Wait for me."

You almost let yourself drop on the wheelchair; you pat the handles and point to your right. Your haremhorn pushes the wheelchair from behind you as she hums a song you are too familiar with; she seems proud of you.

There may be some truth in what the broken horn Leader said; they have to be way out of their minds to try to lay a finger on you, if a Witch has chosen you. Nevertheless, you notice a familiar musclehorn by your side at the time you are out of the theater. You recall the peaceful scenery before Trash dragged you into an alley; you point at the place.

A blurry image comes from your side and stops in front of you.

It’s the snowhorn.

White horns, white skin and red eyes, a single word comes to your mind as you stare at her short frame.

Happy.

It feels alien. You feel yourself drifting again, not into a dream but into a void; until you notice your left hand has been lifted, and as you follow with your eyes the path from your arms ends in the snowhorns cheerful smile.

“This is how nohorns greet each other!”

Your hand goes up and down, up and down; she carefully drops it on your knees.

“I’m a himehorn, too! But I grew up here since I was very small. I didn’t had a herd, I grew up with the nohorns.”

She tilts her head to the left, and then to the right; maybe she wonders if you are listening?

“Not all of them are mean! And the white hairs can’t bully here because Enna is watching over us all. Ado says we have to leave an offering in her temple sometimes. I always buy her-“

You press the tiny button on the megacrophone; and notice your ears hurting.

"Enna?"

“Enna is a Witch! She has white hair, too, but she doesn’t bully, and her daughters are crows. She’s very serious all the time but I’m sure she can be nice!”

You vaguely remember the red can slowly, slowly flying towards you. “Hmm…”

“I’m Umo, nice to meet you!”

She stares at you oddly, keeping her smile but closing her eyes a bit.

“What is your name?”

“Himehorns don’t have names.”

“You don’t? Then how do you know each other?”

“By the smell.”

“So you don’t have a name?”

“No.”

“But you are here now, not everyone can smell so well…”

She “hmms”, but her “hmm!” is certainly much more cute than yours. Her eyes drift, but briefly, she’s now staring at you again. She completely turns towards you and smiles.

“How about we name you?”

“What for?”

You still feel quite shaken...

“Well, if you are in the middle of a crowd I won’t have to make everybody else turn around!”

"But aren't you a Leaderhorn? So then, you call the hornmothers "Hornmother"?

"If I called you snowhorn, would that make a difference?"

"What's a snowhorn?"

You, um... nothing. She closes in a bit more.

“Then, Leaderhorn! I have a formal proposition to make!”

This time it’s you that tilts your horns to the side. The snowhorn notices the haremhorn, and she waves at her; the haremhorn slowly rises her hand and shakes it, as she stares at it. Umo quickly takes something from her clothes, and reaches out to you as the musclehorn takes a step forward; you stop her with your left hand by touching her belly. You recall you made a mental note about rubbing a musclehorn's abdominals; she stares at you blankly.

You stop, and take the thing from the snowhorn's hand the only way you can. It’s a rolled piece of paper.

You stare at the snowhorn, who goes “oh!” and takes it from you, then opens it and shows it to you. You can read it, since himehorns know both their own alphabet and the one from the nohorns; you have to admit theirs is more straightforward.

It basically says…

“You teach me how to be a himehorn; and I’ll teach you how to be a nohorn! It’s a win-win, don’t you think?”

“Why do you want to learn how to be a himehorn?”

She produces a pencil almost out of thin air and hands it to you; you don't grab it.

She crosses her arms.

She gives it to you and holds the paper open with both hands in front you of; it’s actually upside down, but she seems not to notice. You struggle a little with it, but you finally manage to draw the symbol of your herd; it represents a musclehorn lifting another musclehorn over her head, and now she’s doing a back flip as the other watches calmly under her. She closes the paper, almost too roughly.

“It’s sealed, then! We start tomorrow! Don’t you forget!”

She rushes out before you have a chance to either regret it or ask for more time. Both you and the haremhorn watch her leave, she slips but without falling and vanishes into a corner.

You lift yourself from the chair with some effort; the haremhorn quickly goes behind you, perhaps to catch you if you fall. But you don’t, and walk towards the railing. In maybe less than two days you lost your cave, your herd got scattered, you lost your right arm, you lost Leader, you met a Witch, you got kidnapped by a templar, killed a musclehorn and saved a musclehorn, met a haremhorn-vampire, you fooled maybe more than ten herds at once, you met a snowhorn, and now this city lies before you… You think of Leader; and realize that because you didn’t watch her die, you still cling to the meager hope that the both of you will meet again. And you stop to look at the beautiful city as Leader watches from over your shoulder from a distance. You turn around; her horns aren’t broken and there’s nothing on her neck.

“You have left me with quite the burden now, Leader. I have a whole lot of work to do and only an arm to go through all of it… and should I fail, then you would have been wrong. And I don’t want you to be wrong.”

Leader smiles at you. “Remember what we used to say?”

You nod. “Living is wonderful.”

You use the Pathfinder.

As you stare into the city you realize you won’t be able to help the herd like this, and you fumble trough your mind and find that pretty chest that holds your fear, your guilt, your rage, the laugh you would have had at the Witch’s silly antics, the heartbeat you didn’t skip when the haremhorn whispered on your ear, the gasp when Trash got you in a corner, the “what?!” you didn’t slowly mutter under your breath when you met Snacks white horns, the smile you didn’t gave the snowhorn... the terrifying presence of a Witch.

You open it. Leader died because she loved you.

All those feelings come crashing down like a waterfall on your knees as you drop, you feel the haremhorn’s hands under your arms but you rise on your own and gaze upon the city.

Then a single word comes to mind. It’s an alien word; a nohorn word. You don’t clearly understand it… but it does seem fitting.

Do you say it?

SADly, those are my initials... So, no, I don't want to embrace the sad more than I already do, and no, I don't want a hug either.
... I tried to avoid the bad puns... I really tried.

I think this place is a bad influence on us. We've been here for 2 days and we've already started swearing. We don't even know what it is.
