>Nightmare Weed
Nightmare Weed is a species of plant that grows in the swamps of the Bog Witch. It is a type of herbaceous grass, often appearing in areas far from bodies of water, but with high concentrations of humidity in the air. Its brown leaves are used by some people to produce a concoction that can either generate a sense of paranoia and dread, or to heal cases of such conditions. The product’s effect also depends on the species that takes it, and thus producing it is highly difficult.
>>
>Tangle Tree
Tangle Trees are a species of plant living in the swamps of the Bog Witch. A species of fig tree, they grow at most 6-8 meters high, but their branches tend to expand horizontally first and foremost. These branches expand and intertwine with each other, occupying massive areas as they also grow into the ground and sprout further tangle trees. They occupy considerable spaces, and as they are able to grow quite fast, they are a nightmare for the maintenance of the roads and routes within the swamps. Many species need to chop them up constantly to keep them from overrunning many areas. Their fruits are quite popular to feed farm animals, but their bitter taste makes them for poor food for sentient groups.
>>
>Plague Root
Plague Root is a species of plant that lives in the swamps of the Bog Witch. A seemingly normal type of carrot, they are considerably bigger than the common carrot, almost twice their size. They also have a yellowish white color, which becomes dark brown if it gets enough sunlight. The name Plague Root comes from it being the host of a species of bacteria, which live in the plants. While the presence of the bacteria does not affect the plant in any meaningful way, it generates a virulent disease when in contact with humans and other sentient species, causing symptoms such as fever, vertigo, weakness of the knees, vomits and abdominal inflammation. The latter can become so severe that it will cause massive pressure to the inner organs, causing painful constipation, which can lead to death. This disease can be quite contagious, which is why people avoid the plague root as much as possible, destroying the plant whenever it is identified.

>Terranian Bioluminescent Mushrooms
Terranian Bioluminescent Mushrooms group all species of fungus native to the jungles of the Terrania Freeholds. The local flora and fungi tend to generate a certain level of bioluminescence, with many species emitting different levels of light. Why they do this is something experts still debate. Unlike the flowers and trees, mushrooms in the freeholds only generate light under certain circumstances, choosing to shine when they are producing a higher than normal amount of spores. Due to the great amount of competition for attention in the jungle, seeing as near everything there is bioluminescent, the mushrooms in the region need to use their energies wisely, preferring to shine in particular light spectrums, often ultraviolet, which make them the least bright entities in the jungle. There have been attempts from drunig traders to use these fungi as artificial light sources, but due to the high-energy consumption of these species, combined with their frailty in strange lands makes them poor choices for this goal.
>>
>Terranian Bioluminescent Flowers
Terranian Bioluminescent Flowers group all species of plants native to the jungles of the Terrania Freeholds. The local flora and fungi tend to generate a certain level of bioluminescence, with many species emitting different levels of light. Why they do this is something experts still debate. Small bushes and herbaceous plants generate a consistent glow, often gradually changing hue depending on the period of the year. Chotës use some of these flowers’ glows as a calendar of sorts, to know the time of the year. This light comes from the petals of the flowers, and that glow immediately goes dead once the flower is pollinized and it starts to grow the fruit. Drunig sailors have made a custom to grow bioluminescent flowers and bring them to their lovers as a marriage proposition, something incredibly difficult due to the long and harsh voyage between the Terrania Freeholds and Drunigzar, and the poor soil quality of Drunigzar making growing the plants there impossible.

>Platanus Bog – Additional Geography Notes

The Platanus Bog lacks internal political boundaries other than the ever shifting tribal boundaries of humans and fey. Instead, those who are familiar with the region usually divide by its most distinct geographic features. Aside from these features, much of Platanus Bog is covered with a maze of small forests, bogs, swamps, marshes, and small bodies of water.

- Demon-In-A-Tree – Some of the Gorra and many wisplings worship Demon-In-A-Tree. Appearing to be a large beating heart surrounded by the branches of a large tree, it is said to be the remains of a demon who defied the Bog-Witch. It is unclear if there are any practical benefits to worshipping it.

- Kilgal – One of the largest Platani communities, though still barely a town. It controls the best route through The Heart Woods, and as a result has become quite wealthy by Platani standards. The inhabitants are known for being vain and arrogant. Many are clearly of Florinthian origin.

- Forest-End – For unknown reasons the terrain abruptly changes from mostly swamp to mostly marsh once one reaches the Bayukmen border. The Bayukmen and the Platani don’t get along well, but the Bayukmen rarely attack the northern Platani in large numbers unless they feel they are doing something that is an active threat to the Marsh Kingdom. The village of Forest-End is home to the Gruama tribe, who are friendlier with the Bayukmen than other Platani. What little trade that occurs between the two cultures tends to occur here.

- Roosenmuidan – Throughout history, this town has often been the meeting point for two or more trading routes through the Green Mountains. It is home to the Roosen tribe of Platani, one of the most numerous of the tribes, though at any given time most of them are working the caravan routes rather than hanging around the town. Even by Platani standards they are lazy, nihilistic, and without pride. Its name comes from the high percentage of redheads in the tribe, likely a Florinthian trait.

- Terzand Valley – A circle of low peaks surrounds a rocky valley that few ever visit. It is home to several tomb complexes of a forgotten civilization, a few harpies, and not much else.

- The Burbog – This circular valley is volcanically active, resulting in sulfur pond, geysers, and mudflats. The dominant terrain though is peat bog. The locals are considered Platani, but look and speak more like the Bayukmen, which supports certain theories that the Bayukmen, the Platani, and the eastern swamp folk were once closely related before the corruption of the Dominion and the arrival of immigrants from the coast. The Burbog tribe are hardy hunter-gatherers who worship an obscure slug god.

- The Coastal Bog – This region along the coast is a mix of peat bog, salt marsh, forested swamp, and sandbars. Although only about 10 kilometers wide in most places, many early explorers believed it was much deeper, which helped entrench the widespread belief the whole region was one giant bog, a belief that still exists in modern times. Not much lives in the bogs other than some wisplings, froglins, goblins, fairies, and woggles, but there are a few fortified trading posts along the coast (most in ruins at any given time).

- The Curhinday Plains – The east side of the Green Mountains has a much flatter slope than the west side. It is a region of low, flat hills separated by narrow valleys filled with bogs, marshland, patches of carpetflower, and moisture loving groves of spruce and cedar. It is sparsely populated even by the standards of the region, but there are some humans, a few goblins, boglins, kikimora, will-o-wisps, and harpies, and a handful of hags and witches. The humans are simply known as “hill-folk” and have more in common culturally with the Zylani than the Platani. The hill-folk mostly live off of goats and vegetables, but a few grow bog spelt as well.

- The Demon’s Bog – This large peat bog was likely once a large but shallow lake that became overgrown. Most of it is seemingly endless peat, but there are plenty of small forests, creeks, and ponds that make navigating it even more difficult. In the middle of the bog is Demon-In-A-Tree, whose corrupting influence has made the inhabitants even more cruel and sadistic. This bog is mostly home to wisplings, but also the demon worshipping Platani tribe known as the Gorra, who can be easily recognized by their ritually scarred faces and use of kohl eyeliner.

- The Green Mountains – These dreary low mountains form a natural barrier between Platanus and the Dominion. They are named for the rugged mountain grasses and scrag pines that grow on the gentler slopes of the mountain. Not much lives up here except the occasional flock of harpies, a few will-o-wisps and swamp ogres, and some mountain goats. There are a few stone ruins, underground tombs, and old mines up here, but even the locals are unaware of most of them, and the history of nearly all of them have been forgotten.
>>
>>90414996

- The Gilded Fortress – This glamorous name misrepresents the reality of this structure, which is really just a small, crumbling keep at the edge of a swamp near the relatively well travelled road to Tourzen. It is home to some Elyrians that got driven out of Avangar for worshipping the Goddess of Greed. They now switch between banditry and mercenary work trying to turn the ruin into a temple worthy of their goddess, though so far their efforts have fallen short and their numbers are dwindling.

- The Heart Woods – The nutrient rich soil in this region is flooded more often than not. The massive Platani Mangrove Tree is found in abundance here, their enormous roots used as supports for the wood shacks of the local Platani, sometimes whole villages of them. Several Platani tribes live here, most of whom are pretty typical of their culture.

- The Hell Hills – This cluster of rocky hills, geysers, and sulfur ponds is the site of moderate volcanic activity. Locals believe it is a region where Gogotha’s Realm is unusually close to the surface, thus the name. Almost no one lives here. It is said a Northman warlord once established a fair sized palace in the hills near the ocean, but was tricked into becoming the love slave of a hag in return for immortality. It is said the two of them still dwell within the hills over a millennia later.

- The Forest of Pests – Throughout the region’s history, trade routes have often passed through this forest where the ground is relatively dry. Unfortunately, the wisplings who live here are particularly fond of tormenting travelers. They sometimes leave local Platani alone, but love targeting foreigners with crude traps, theft, and minor curses.

- The Mushroom Forest – Unlike along the northern border of Platani territory, there isn’t a clear ecological boundary between the Platanus Bog and the Fungest. In this region, large fungi and more typical trees intermix, and some mushroomites can be found, though they are weak and disorganized compared to those to the south. The local Platani tribe is known as the Kintry and they are mostly known for their knowledge of the properties of mushrooms and their laid back nature. They get along with the nearby root dwarf hold well enough despite their occasional illegal foraging and smuggling. On a few occasions, the Kintry have been conscripted by agents of the Bog-Witch, but they aren’t much good for anything other than being camp followers. Aside from the Kintry and the mushroomites, there are a few uncorrupted toadlings, swamp gnomes, and fairies here, who generally mind their own business. Root dwarves also sometimes come here for unknown reasons.

- The Temple of the Seven Sins – This crude temple was made from an old ogre fortress by a mad Azanese pirate to honor one of the Azanese interpretations of the Seven Sins. According to this Azanese tradition that has enjoyed on and off again popularity over the millennia, the seven most powerful demon lords each represent one of the mortal sins. In this interpretation, the following are used, though there are many variations in Azanese theology: lust (Gogotha), gluttony (Gluttony God), wrath (Althazzar), greed (Goddess of Greed), pride (Kagal), sloth (Gythliss), and envy (Uruc). Although the temple has been uninhabited for decades, the local Platani do make some efforts to upkeep it, as they feel none of the gods honored here are ones that one would want to upset.

- The Uplands – The Curhinday Plains eventually flatten to the point where forests of small stunted trees become the dominant terrain. However, due to poor drainage, swamps and bogs are also common. The Platani tribes who live here tend to be a hardy bunch who aren’t afraid of a fight.

- Thiavhai – This small Platani fishing village is becoming prominent in certain circles after it became known that a local woman is a skilled seer. As her powers are said to come from Gogotha herself, even agents of the Bog-Witch aren’t inclined to mess with her.

- Tourzen – This frequently razed and rebuilt fortress town is currently run by the Rouge Trading company in partnership with two other Orange Marquisate companies and several small mercenary groups. It is currently the main link between the Platani and the outside world, and also a main shipment point for illegal goods out of the Dominion. Platani and other locals are rarely allowed inside the town itself, but are often found outside of it waiting to see if they can find work on caravans. Tourzen has been in operation for a few decades now, but eventually it will overrun by rivals, pirates, a local warlord, etc., and some other coastal ruin will be rebuilt to take its place.

- Ur-Carnach – This minor Black Sabbath location is one of several used by minor witches and hags living in the region who can’t be bothered to travel further.

- Usleibhte Hills – This ragged mess of rocky outcrops barely qualify as hills, but the locals still find its maze of ravines and crevasses to be an impediment to travel and generally avoid it. A large network of half-flooded limestone caves underlies the area which have recently become home to some cave boglins led by an exiled witch-elf.

- Uspioraid Territory – Although not naturally war-like, from time to time, one of the larger, more aggressive Platani tribes will be motivated by a charismatic warlord to bully several other nearby tribes into submission. The Uspioraid tribe have long been known for their brutality, elaborate but primitive garb, and high percentage of witches and Gogotha followers, though it took an exiled witch-elf priestess (sister and rival to the one leading the cave boglins in the Usleibhte Hills) to turn them into a formidable force controlling the most territory of any one Platani tribe in recent memory.

- Vaveil – A branch of a prominent merchant family from the Orange Marquisates is currently living in exile here with some employees and followers after being outed as Gogotha worshippers. They have been trying to establish themselves as a port for goods produced by the northern Platani, but without Tourzen’s access to illegal goods from the Dominion, there isn’t much reason for ships to come here.

-Wairgead Cauldron – There are many conflicting theories of how this enormous, circular depression formed. Some think it is the remains of a massive volcano, others think it is a collapsed cavern, and others think something huge fell from the sky and smashed a deep depression. Large crystal formations can be found in many parts of The Cauldron, whose formation is also a mystery.

- Wiontach Forest – This stretch of forests, swamps, and bogs is one of the most isolated parts of the Platanus Bog, with few resources or trade routes of note. The Wiontach tribe is a matriachy run by shamans of Kestili, an obscure god that seems to be based on a syncretic interpretation of several different Khenomeric and Westerling Moon and Magic Goddesses.

>Terranian Bioluminescent Trees
Terranian Bioluminescent Trees group all species of trees native to the jungles of the Terrania Freeholds. The local flora and fungi tend to generate a certain level of bioluminescence, with many species emitting different levels of light. Why they do this is something experts still debate. Many trees often produce a low-level glow during the night, perhaps as part of the photosynthesis process, with about 1/10th of their leaves showing displays of bright light, often in the form of spots on them. This glow often subsides during the periods of heavy rain, though it does not disappear completely. Palm trees and other tall trees also generate a glow below their leaves. Drunig traders often take these trees’ seeds and fruits and sell them around the eastern seas, often as luxury items. However, there have been attempts of growing these trees in some urban areas as a form of natural lighting, but the high-energy consumption of these plants limits their use for that.

With the herbarium technically completed, I would like to write some stuff for the regions that have map but do not have provincial divisions. Still, we still need to add some stuff, between finishing up the alchemy stuff, the underworld and the seas (do we really need that?), I'll see what I can do next.

I'l try to do something with the cities of the Fungest. First the names, other than nº8 being Nonokoset, I was thinking of the rest being either names of fungi or khenomeri-sounding names, since some of those cities would've been founded during that time. The dwarven holds with something more dwarf-sounding. Any suggestions?
>>
>>90420574
fungi-sounding sounds better to me

not sure, someone else came up with it in one of the earliest threads

>>90416303
probably 2km tall tops based on the elevation map
>>
>>90424125
Oh, right. I was mistaking it for Zyla Gora. The lore says it has mountains, but the physical map shows relatively low altitude there, not that different from the rest of the region.
>>
Also, is there missing from the wiki (other than images, which I'll intend to add eventually)?

>>
>>90403907
There's a lot of artwork relating to wheatfolk lore in dire need to be added
>>
>>90424216
Its a long standing oversight

Zyla Gora was mountainous in its original description on thread 4, the first elevation map was earlier than this, but it was still being worked on and probably should have been modified

I will probably try to do my next lore dump on them

I need to add it, plus all the bestiary art.
>>
>>90426124
I still have the original photoshop file, I can modify it. How tall should they be? And where?

Also, if the zyla gora gets mountains, the fungest map has to change as well, since it also shows it.
>>
>>90428439
probably just some of the yellow-beige is fine
>>
>>90421010
>Djondjon
That ones kinda stupid. The rest is decent though, besides maybe "Rockpass" being a little too mundane and "Deadshroom" too on the nose
>>

holy based
>>
>>90429614
>Djondjon
But djondjon is the name of a mushroom, though.
>>
>>90429620
I've updated the map. I have added the rivers and other elements from the Tarot map, plus the mountains I suppose zyla gora has. Also, what's the name of the upper river in >>90414982? Also, should I add the altitudes in this map? And what's with the river that doesn't go all the way into the sea?

As for the underground and the political map, the files got corrupted. I still have most of it, but not the most recent version, and thus I would need to remake them, or at least to reupdate them. Just in case, I have a couple of safety copies for the altitude map.

Also, if someone else makes maps, we need more rivers in eastern and northern giantstep.
>>
>>90429673
still
>>
>>90429864
>And what's with the river that doesn't go all the way into the sea?
it leads to a massive peat bog

it probably breaks up into a maze of small lakes and creeks, most the water soaks into the peat and evaporates during the summer rather than make its way all the way to the ocean
>>
>>90430746
Does it have a name?
>>
>>90433399
the bog is called The Demon's Bog, it is on the map
>>
>>90433457

Ok, I'll start posting some lore about the cities of the Fungest. Starting with those in the Culinary Fungest.

>Chanterelle
-Chanterelle: Chantarelle is a city near the Amanita River. The silt that the river deposits along the banks is a very important material for the cities of the Fungest, as it is one of the main components for the fabrication of bricks and mortar. Since the region of the Fungest lacks wood, the cities and towns of the region need this material for any kind of construction, and the region alongside the river is the area with the biggest amount of silt in the region. This makes it a center of crafts and production, and while most cities and towns have local centers of brick production, they often need to buy from Chanterelle to meet the demands. However, Chanterelle is too close to comfort to the witches of Zyla Gora, and they, alongside many mushroomite mycotrives, have fortified the norther bank of the river, in case of night attacks. The Chanterelle lighthouses also keep the waters illuminated, both to guide ships to the dock and to warn people about witch attacks through the coast.
>>
>>90433887
>Amanita
The city of Amanita was an early military outpost of the Khenomeric Empire, who saw fit to create a fortress-city at what was, at the time, the border of the empire. It was also the exploration projects from the cities that discover the Amanita river, and they gave it the name of the city in their honor. The eventual founding of the city of Chanterelle and their growing fortification left Amanita’s role redundant, losing quite a lot of importance and population in the process.
>>
>>90433893
>Cantharellus
Cantharellus is the oldest human settlement in the Fungest. Legends tell that it was here where Jaalibali “the explorer” became stranded after the storm, starting his journey south back to the Khenomeric Empire. While it was on its way to become the biggest human settlement in the region, Cantharellus’ lack of arable terrain around it limits the food it can access, depending quite a lot from their fishing fleet and the mushroom forest. Cantharellus has many customs and traditions revolving around Jaalibali and his journey, the biggest of which is the Route of Jaalibali. The young men and women in the town, the year they become of age, are allowed to recreate the travel of Jaalibali, walking on their own through the forest and the coast, though this journey often ends at the beginning of the Mixed Fungest. Very few actually decide to take the full travel to the border between the Swamp of Sadness and the Toxic Fungest. At the center of the city, there lies a massive statue of Jaalibali, made out of marble. However, the statue is often covered in different types of mushrooms, which are taken care of by the mushroomites.
>>
>>90433901
>Perretxico
The city of Perretxico was a project of a young khenomeric noble who, during the expansion of the Forest of Getting Lost and his run from Mareador, decided to create his own center of power, with the eventual intention of leading a nation of his own. However, his ambition led him to chopping up a portion of the fungal forest to give way to buildings and farmland. The resulting invasion of the stillborn outpost by thousands of mycotribes was the biggest registered coordinated mushroomite attack registered before the invasion of the Ogre Kingdoms. The mushroomite swarm was so that the population itself stormed the still unfinished castle and took the noble hostage, to be given to the mushroomites. Many decades after the event, the city began being repopulated, this time keeping their distances with the forest.
>>
>>90433912
>Hyndum
The city of Hyndum was born as a fishing town, as the local currents bring many different types of sea life to the waters near the shore. The need for wood forces the local fishermen to operate in small vessels, as maintaining big ships is quite onerous. Many of the houses are decorated with things such as conch shells and whale bones, which are overgrown by fungi. Hyndum is famous for their great lighthouse, as it was built over a particularly tall giant mushroom.
>>
>>90433918
>Pinetell
The city of Pinetell was founded by settlers by the Orange Marquissates. In particular, a group of minor nobles who were too far from the inheritance line decided to move south to the Fungest, to create their own dominion. However, unlike the case of Perretxico, these nobles were well aware of the dangers that threatening the fungal forest posed. As such, Pinetell was free from mushroomite attacks. However, Pinetell established a system of government similar to the old marquisates ruled by healthy nobility, something that does not attract that much population.
>>
>Agaricus
The city of Agaricus is particular for being the only major settlement in the Culinary Fungest that is not located in the coast. Instead, the city was founded in an area where the fungal forest clears somewhat. Prospections to the area discovered veins of iron and silver, which attracted a lot of people to the region. Mining in the area, however, is a daunting task, due to the fact that the underground is often flooded. The frequent rains makes attempting to reach the lower levels quite dangerous, as they can become inundated quite fast, and draining is a slow and monotonous process. Fortunately, the area’s lower mushroom density means that the mushroomites in the area do not mind the humans digging for shinning rocks.
>>
>>90433930
>Nonokoset
The city of Nonokoset is the second oldest human settlement in the Fungest. It was founded with the intention of controlling the Cogollo Gulf, alongside the cities of the old khenomeric province of Mareador, and it quickly grew to become the biggest and most important human settlement in the entire Fungest. It is also the most populated human city by far. It would be from here that the “Chanterelle Hohlway” was established, which follows all the coast of the Fungest and goes deep into the jungle, reaching all the way to the Amanita River and the dwarven cities. Nonokoset is a big trading port, receiving merchant ships from many areas of the world who seek the strange and exotic mushrooms from the region. During the period of time when it was the capital of the Severe Republic of the Fungest, Nonokoset was heavily fortified, particularly against piratic attacks, having very important sea fortresses covering their ports. Like many of the human cities in the Fungest, Nonokoset was built alongside the coast, trying to inflict as little harm as possible to the fungal forest. Due to the size of the city, it has had to develop a very complex draining system, as the frequent rains and quick fungal growths can result in some areas inundating with little warning. Due to this, multiple mushroomite mycotribes constantly toil in the sewers, cleaning them from any blockage.
>>
>>90433937
>Girgola
The city of Girgola is a very recent founding, barely 200 years old by current year. It was originally thought out by a group of merchants that, seeking to increase their mushroom exports, sought to artificially farm them. To this, they chose an area of the Culinary Fungest that allowed them the conditions for quick mushroom growth, but without the torrential downpours that afflict many of the cities to the north. Taking advantage of a landslide that had erased part of the forest in the area, the merchants made a deal with the mushroomites to build massive dam-like structures and water ditches to slow down the erosion of the region, as well as building terraces that would preserve the as much land as possible. In exchange, the mushroomites allowed to settle in, as well as helping with the growth of some of the more valuable mushrooms in these terraces.

Continuing with the human cities in the Mixed Fungest
>Djondjon
The city of Djondjon was founded by the refugees of the Forest of Getting Lost’s advance. In particular, these settlers were part of the cult of the Goddess of Harmony, and nowadays, the inhabitants of Djondjon still follow its guidance. The Temple of Djondjon is a cathedral that follows a similar architecture to the great buildings in the domains of the Goddess of Harmony, but in a smaller scale. It is also covered by mushrooms, and the towers of the building are fashioned in the shape of pyramidal shrooms. The temple also serves as an apiculture center, taking care of the bees in the name of the goddess. These bees are not native, but have adapted to drink from the nectar of certain species of mushrooms, giving their honey a particularly bitter taste.
>>
>>90440300
>Port Mycena
The city port of Mycena holds the main harbors of the Mixed Fungest, something key to the region. Due to the Mixed Fungest’s lesser density of fungi, the humans in the region can actually develop an active agriculture, and the produce of wheat, barley, cereals and sunflower seeds is vital to feed the other human cities in the Fungest, particularly those in the Toxic Fungest. And due to its position, most of the produce generated in the Fungest goes through their shipyards. This makes Port Mycena one of the richest cities in the Fungest, with many of the merchant houses in it owning great amounts of arable land around the city.
>>
>>90440318
>Laccaria
The city of Laccaria was founded during the original khenomeri settlers in the region. It was originally intended to be the focal point of the human cities in the Mixed Fungest, seeing as Jaalibali’s tales described the region as more apt for farming than the jungles of the north and the south. It grew quite a lot in population, but its riches attracted the eyes of the swam ogres and their raids. Thus, from very early on, Laccaria established many fortresses and defense towers around the land, meant to watch over a possible ogre raid. The city itself was considerably fortified, but a major attack during the days of the Ogre Kingdoms left is severely damaged, even though Laccaria survived the siege. Despite this, the needed reconstruction made many flee to other cities, especially the threat of the ogres was better handled and further settlements were established inland.
>>
>>90440343
>North Boletus
The city of North Boletus was founded after the discovery of the Gardening Lake. As one of the first settlements in the area, North Boletus attracted quite a lot of population seeking to farm the land. However, it is because of this that the actual city of North Boletus is has comparative little population, since most of the people in the region live in either small rural towns or familiar houses, spread around the territory.
>>
>>90440361

>Pterula
The city of Pterula was founded after the discovery of the Gardening Lake. The human explorers, guided by the region’s mushroomites, went inland in search for arable land to feed the growing cities, which led to the discovery of the great lake at the heart of the Mixed Fungest. While the eastern shore of the lake was taken over by a dense mushroom savannah, the mushroomites allowed the humans to settle on the other sides of the lake, which turned out to be a godsend. The fertile lakes of the Mixed Fungest allowed the humans to obtain plentiful harvests, while the mushroomites gained the help of the humans to fight the ogre raids and the attacks from the Bog Witch’s lands. Out of all the agricultural centers in the region, Pterula became the most important of all, due to them also becoming adept at breeding working horses for the farm labor. Their horses are also used by the mushroomites, with dozens of them riding on a horse, holding on by special harnesses designed specifically for mushroomites. It has been recorded that the mushroomites thoroughly enjoy traveling around on horse.
>>
>>90440375
>South Boletus
The city of South Boletus was founded after the discovery of the Gardening Lake. In particular, it was founded by the same group of settlers that created North Boletus, hence the shared name. However, whereas North Boletus focused on agricultural endeavors, South Boletus had their eyes on the lake itself. The Gardening Lake is an isolated body of water, which has a habitat of fungal mangroves, giant mushrooms that take the role of mangroves in the area. The area is ripe with birds and fish, which allowed the region to develop a very active hunting and fishing culture, while also partaking in the vast agricultural endeavors around the Gardening Lake. South Boletus also builds small canoes to fish in the area, but the need to import wood from the outside makes these quite expensive, and thus these canoes are passed on from parents to their children.

Continuing with the human cities in the Toxic Fungest.

>Cogomasa
The city of Cogomasa was built upon a particularly dense area of the forest, which grew directly alongside the coast, leaving no space between the jungle and the sea. The density of the mushroom forest was such that the population used it as a defense as the attacks from the ogres and the creatures from the swamps of the Bog Witch. Some of the most famous buildings in Cogomasa were directly built on top of the giant mushrooms, and the general height of the city is such that the entire city is connected with clinging bridges all around.
>>
>>90451307
>Hifolomus
The city of Hifolomus is one of the few human populations in the Toxic Fungest, and by far the biggest. The colonies in the Toxic Fungest have been gradually losing population to the Mixed Fungest, due to the violent rains and threats from the swamps of the Bog Witch. Hilofomus was a small town back in the day, but the frequent attacks from the Ogre Kingdoms forced many refugees to the walls of Hifolomus. Due to this growth, Hifolomus has multiple layers of walls, but most of them are barely inhabited nowadays, and have been taken over by mushroom farms run by the muscarin. Hifolomus also has the most important docks in all of the Toxic Fungest, something essential for them, as the region cannot produce enough food to sustain itself regularly.
>>
>>90451317
>Ivory Funnel
The city of Ivory Funnel was built upon a natural fairy ring, a natural circular arc of giant mushrooms that served as protection from the attacks. The muscarin mushroomites guided many of the human inhabitants of the Toxic Fungest to this area, and between the two groups, they turned the ring of giant mushrooms into a powerful fortress, though its limited size hampers its growth.
>>
By the way, did we solve the gryphon and garl flying question?
>>
>>90451335
Continuing now with the dwarven holds. First those of the Culinary Fungest.

>Krumiggs Brasfsoom
The hold of Krumiggs Brasfsoom is built near the Amanita River, between a series of hills. Due to this position, the frequent rains need to be constantly drained out of the hold, canalizing it back into the river through ditches and underground water pipes. The hold itself is both deep and vast, with underground channels and waterfalls, and the dwarves move around in underground gondolas made from mushroom fibers. The dwarves work tirelessly expanding the hold and exploring the cavernous interior, building massive pillars, arches and vaults, decorated with inscriptions in honor of the Culinary God. These also record some of the most prestigious chefs in the hold’s history, as well as their recipes, engraved in stone for all to see.
>>
>>90454524
>Gertrumum
The hold of Gertrumum was built through a massive mineral coal mine, so deep the experts cannot get a grasp of how much coal can actually contain. Luckily for the dwarves and the fungal forest, the high humidity makes a fire within very unlikely, as the coal needs to be completely dry to be used. The dwarves use this coal for trade, as it is one of the best sources of heat needed for cooking and for the cold and humid nights of the Fungest. However, the closeness of the Zyla Gora and the swamps of the Bog Witch has forced the dwarves to build great stone fortifications around all the entrances to the hold.
>>
>>90454542
>Brumins
The hold of Brumis was build in an area of frequent fogs and mists. Due to this, the dwarves have built many high towers lighting up the paths to reach the area. These towers are massive pillars of marble, carefully crafted with icons and praises to the Culinary God. Each family is in charge of caring for one of the towers, keeping the inscriptions clean and free from erosion, while also making sure the towers do not impede the growth of the fungal forest around them. The artisans of Brumins are highly competitive with each other, and the production of marble from below the earth serve to produce underground architectonic marvels. This marble is also exported to the rest of the Fungest as a building material.

Deep in the Golden Hills at the high point of the Heiying Pass lies an ancient abandoned statue, said to depict Bronzar under his aspect as Bronzar Atrytone, the fearsome protector.

The origins of the statue are unknown, though Furlaniyan scholars have long pointed out the similar styles of Bronzar Atrytone and the Old God at Breg. Azanese scholar-monks of the 5th dynasty for their part, had long argued that the statue is one of the remaining legendary "Makhaitoi", the stone helpers of Aza mentioned in the holy chapters of the Kydomnos, now reduced to slumber. Several Changrilese so-called "Barracks Emperors" have also, through the centuries, reconsecrated the statue to the Imperial Cult while serving on the empire's western frontiers.

Currently the statue sits unattended, save for a few caravanserais scattered around it, as the Heiying Pass is one of the main routes for peddlers and merchants of the Troll Wastes and the Guilds of Pahroth to reach the Laofeng river and subsequently, the sea. According to local tradition, passer-bys would be wise to consecrate whatever food and drink they consume to Bronzar Atrytone so as to keep him pleased.

Continuing with the Mixed Fungest's holds.

>Rockpass
The dwarven hold of Rockpass is one of the most well defended and bellicose in the entire Fungest. Due to the geography of the region, crossing from the swamps of the Bog Witch to the rest of the Mixed Fungest is difficult, as the terrain is covered in dense fungal forest and swamps, with the fastest road being through Rockpass. As such, both dwarves, mushroomites and humans have helped fortify the region as much as possible. The great gates to Rockpass block a narrow pass, surrounded by sharp mountains. The walls are covered by windows from which dwarf ballistas point out at whatever dares to enter. The monsters and raiders spawned from the Bog Witch domains attack frequently, though they have little chance of crossing, as the massive granite doors can only be open from the inside.
>>
>>90464744
>Hjulkfor
The dwarven hold of Hjulkfor is completely isolated from the surface, as a series of earthquakes brought down the mountains above the hold, blocking all roads while the dwarven groundworks managed to keep the underground mostly intact. Due to this, Hjulkfor has developed kilometers of underground roads, exiting back into the Mixed Fungest. It is through these roads they can interact with the outside world, and the mushroomites need to keep an eye on these tunnels, least the mushrooms grow so tall and thick they end up blocking the passes.
>>
>>90464761
And finally, the one in the Toxic Fungest.

>Deadshroom
The twisted and warped fungal forest of the Toxic Fungest do not seem a great place to found a dwarven hold. However, the discovery of thermal waters in the region made dwarven explorers to go deep into the forest. The result was the underground caves that led into the depths of the earth, where the source of the thermal waters lay. This made many dwarves move to the region, naming it Bakbrooks. However, after a particularly brutal ogre assault during the days of the Ogre Kingdoms, most of the hold perished in the defense, and the entire population had to be abandoned, moving temporarily to the human cities in the coast. After the return of the Bog Witch, the fall of the Ogre Kingdoms allowed a coalition of dwarves, humans and muscarin to take back the hold, albeit with severe casualties. Nowadays, the sheer destruction is still visible, as the dwarves decided to leave the scars of the war to never forget the bloodshed. The few dwarves who still live there barely use the old name of Bakbrooks, instead calling the hold Deadshroom.
