>Butterfly Sailfish
The butterfly sailfish is a species of fish commonly found in most oceans of the world. Its elongated size is adapted for speed, darting to catch the fish of schools one by one. They have a sharp sword nose, mostly retracted most of the time, and comes out when hunting or when fending off a predator. Its most unique aspect, however, is that its dorsal sail has divided into two, with very cartilaginous and covered in skin, almost in the pattern of a butterfly. The butterfly sailfish can open these fins after they jump from the water, using the momentum and the fins to sail over the ocean at surprising speeds, and with a considerable degree of control. They cannot breathe outside of the water, but these method allows them to attack schools of fish both from below and above, and it also helps them disorient their natural predators.

We have the intention of making it a playable setting, but for now we're focusing on the lore. The rules bit is still far away.

>Sea Elemental
The Sea Elemental is a mythical kind of water elemental, believed to exist in the depths of the ocean. Unlike many water elementals, the Sea Elemental is believed to be a singular entity, that has lived since time immemorial. A seemingly immortal creature with the size of a small atoll, it has appeared every couple of centuries to the surface, and even rarer it has come out to solid land. When it does, it brings horror and destruction with it, seemingly unaware of the small creatures it tramples. It also causes earthquakes and tidal waves. Legends say that the great earthquake that destroyed the capital of Greater Elanxa was due to the actions of the Sea Elemental.

>Common Slime
The Common Slime, also known as Regular Slimes, are the most frequent species of slime in the world. Its strange body has a different colorations, taking very colorful patterns, which many experts believe these are the equivalent of organs, managing a different bodily function each. Their exterior is sticky and gelatinous, relatively sensible to threads from the wild. They are able to live as parasites, eating away anything organic that enters in contact with it. Their growth is very slow, and generally their size never surpasses something beyond a human eye. However, if protected from predators, they technically can grow indefinitely, and there have been many instances of slimes growing big enough to be comparable to houses. Many species of insect consume the common slima, as well as many slimes eat weakened insects that cannot escape their sticky exterior. Once trapped, the slime will slowly dissolve their bodies and turn them into nutrients. The Common Slime is on the base of many food chains, since it's very nutritious and has little in the way of defenses, so it's eaten by many herbivores.

Their reproductive cycle has two options: the first consist of a singular common slime splitting in two, each holding enough parts to survive in the wild. The second is through maduration, part of the slime will send spores that will travek using the wind to move great distances.

Due to the need of the common slime of high amounts of water, it's commonly seen near rivers, though never close to sea water, as the salt blocks its growth and impedes its reproductive cycle.
>>
>>88864872
It is a very primitive species of slimes. Unlike many of the world's slimes, it does not have a nucleus that governs its behavior, so it grows in seemingly random patterns and has little to no movement outside of growing. However, this also means that killing a common slime is more difficult than one might expect, since cutting a bit from the slime will inevitably create two slimes, instead of the cut bit dying of as the result of separating it from the nucleus. This is why is recommended to thoroughly cook common slimes before consumption. While they can be eaten raw, they can cause incredibly painful stomach cramps, as the slime tries to fend of the chemical attack within the creature that has eaten it, as long as even one portion of the eaten slime is alive. This is why slimes should not be ingested by infants. Death by eating a common slime is extremely rare, however, unlike other, more dangerous species of slime.

>Bugcatcher Slime
The bugcatcher slime is a species of slime present in most humid forest in the world. Taking a step aside from many slimes in the world, the bugcatcher slime takes a more solid appeareance and texture, looking much more solid and rigid that other slimes in the world.

It also has distinctive parts, with two clearly differentiated halves. The exterior is where most of the slime's "organs" reside, and it has the diverse coloration expected in most species of slime. The exterior does not cover the inner part fully, leaving a great gap. This gap emmits a sweet scent that attracts a lot of insects, from ants and termites to flying bugs. Once they enter, they are trapped in the muccus inside and dissolved, feeding the creature. The interior is also reinforced with particularly sturdy slime walls, should something akin to a mouse or a bird enter instead, and threaten to damage the creature from within. This is important since the bugcatcher's nucleus is very near the feeding walls, and damaging it would kill the slime by making it unable to process food.

Every once in a while, an insect will enter the bugcatcher's interior and escape, covered in dust. This is in fact how bugcatcher slimes reproduce, covering the insect in spores and leaving it to spread them throughout the forest.

Bugcatcher slimes are very small, never growing bigger than the size of a small dog. They struggle to adequately feed bigger bodies than that, and it is frequent to see dying bugcatcher slimes due to growing more than they can provide for.

>Mimic Slime
The mimic slime is a species of slime present in most humid forests in the world. The mimic slime has evolved to be able to imitate the shape of some of the creatures in the forest, usually those in the lower echelons of the food chain, like mice, lizards or songbirds. They are able to somehow adopt a similar form of those creatures, even managing a certain degree of movement, giving it the impression of a sick or wounded animal. This attracts predators, who will try to eath the mimic slime. Once they bite it, the mimic slime will either rupture and release all of the liquid or be swallowed whole. This is part of its reproductive cycle, as its spores can only travel within the organism of other animals, and grow within their droppings. Once outside, the mimic slimes grow fast. This species is very small, barely the size of a tiny mouse, and has a life cycle of barely three months.

I'm trying to write something about the Lemon Kingdom's culture and society, but I'm having trouble coming up with things for i. The bits I have for now is that they have been heavily influenced by Changrilese culture, and that they probably practise the azanese faith (either the old or the new one). Their nobility is also very divided between those favorable to Lorient and those who want another dynasty on the throne, free from outside interference. Anything else we could discuss from here?

Also, once we finish with the nations of the peninsula of Cemak I, we have to fix Lorient's lore and dates. It needs a tweak to fit the rest of the lore.

>Bubble Slime
The bubble slime is a species of slime that lives near the coasts of the south of the world. They are practically transparent, and very light, floating with the current, absorbing everything that comes into contact with them. They occupy a similar niche that jellyfish do, but instead of poison, slimes use their muccus to asfixiate their prey. Since they are not poisonous, they are frequently prey to other animals, particularly sea turtles.

>Naked Griffon
The naked griffon is a species of wingless griffon that lives in the forests north of the Glass Mountains. It can reach a size of a meter of length and half a meter high. It has an eagle-like mouth, with a beak capable of breaking bone, something important to access the nutrient rich marrow. It has four legs, all of them ending in clawed talons, highly lethal due to their sharpness and the strength of the creature. Its skin is leathery, with wrinkles similar to those of an elefant, with feather covering the upper half of the griffon's neck. When threatened, the naked griffon can use these feathers for intimidation, raising them up to look bigger. The naked griffon travel in pairs, both to obtain food and to mate. However, naked griffons are not social beings, never able to create groups bigger than a pair. They lay a single egg during mating season, and they will protect the chick until it grows big enough to hunt on its own.

Continuing with the Lemon Kingdom.

>Society and Culture
Before the arrival of changrilese influence, the realm of Lemonaint had a very hierarchical society, with a rigid caste system put in place, affecting all population. This caste system was divided into four different groups: the Siishde, the leaders of the towns, exclusively in the hands of local nobility, dedicated to politics and warfare; the Nooshde, priests and religious personnel of the old pagan religions; the Surfdi, sailors and people who live from the sea; and Marqsi, the remaining peoples, from working the land to doing different professions in the towns. The arrival of changrilese and later full azanese culture changed a lot of things in Lemonaint, advancing their technology and culture a thousandfold, but this cast system never really went away. For example, the adoption of the azanese faith was relatively swiftly, as long as the organization of the worship was left to the Nooshde, and no one else within could really enter. They still had to accept outside interference from outside Lemonaint, but only in the higher echelons of the cult, where most commoners couldn’t really discern it. Likewise, the Siishde quickly married with azanese and changrilese nobility, hoping to gain influence within the empire. This quick assimilation helped Lemonaint greatly, making the towns of the region grown into great cities. However, the region never went beyond a secondary role in the politics of the empire. Its closeness to Changrila meant that most of the time, they were outcompeted by them more populous and developed neighbor.
>>
>>88880801
Their main weight within the empire was its valuable agricultural produce, especially vital for long travels. The citrus produced in the region are some of the best in the world, with only those in the Orange Marquissates being of a similar quality. This continued even after their independence. The Azanese Civil War destroyed quite a lot of the nation’s cities and infrastructure, and as such, most cities are relatively recent. The new architecture was designed with a grid plan in mind, abandoning the ancient, more chaotic structure. It also allowed to improve things such as the sewage system, something that had been causing problems due to the growth of the cities outstripping the increase of public services. However, since the rise of Guidon the Third as king of the Lemon Kingdom, the nation’s economy has been steadily declining, losing power and influence to Lorient. While its agricultural weight is as strong as ever, manufacture and trade have declined steadily, especially when it comes to ship manufacturing. The brief period of respite during the Changrilese Civil War, that saw their main competitor in the sea busy with internal strife was not enough to help their plight. This has caused a lot of resentment in both the commonfolk and the nobility, putting both groups on a surprisingly good terms in their common goals, something even more noteworthy when taking into account the presence of the caste system.
>>
>>88880813
The Siishde nobility, after years of marriages with many nobles from all throughout the Azan Empire, have managed to obtain a web of influence well above what one would assume. It also helps that many outside of Lemonaint consider the Siishde nobility as backwards, still focused on their honor duels and knightly tournaments in a world where more finesse and sophistication is required. In reality, lemonese nobility is surprisingly well versed and educated. While it is true they have a traditional sense of honor, they are also smart enough to see the world changing around them. Having united their love of dueling with the knowledge of rhetoric and business, their influence over the nation is considerable. However, the personal grudges and power struggles between each other allowed them to be blindsided by Lorient’s influence, losing the chance of getting one of their own candidates on the throne. From that point on, lemonese nobility has been conspiring to take back the kingdom from their neighbor, though the skill at politics of their opposites is making it a duel of wits, cloaks and dagger, something far from their natural battlefield.
>>
>>88880825
>It also helps that many outside of Lemonaint consider the Siishde nobility as backwards, still focused on their honor duels and knightly tournaments in a world where more finesse and sophistication is required.
Thus understimating the Siishde, keeping them around for their wealth.

Dammit, I forgot this bit.

>The Joos and the Wailing Desert

>History

The history of the Joos is well documented in Zorah, their holy scripture, although its historical authenticity has been challenged by some scholars in Azan.

According to the Zorah, the Joos were originally humans that lived on the outskirts of the Merfolk Empire, close to the ratfolk of Luden. Unlike the rest of the Empire, the Joos refused to follow the faith of the Merfolk (consisting of Uun and other lesser gods), and for that reason, they were considered as outcasts by the rest of the Empire's inhabitants.

The Joos were seen as pariahs and outlaws by the Mourndarians, and when catastrophe struck and Uun cursed the whole Empire, the Joos were used as scapegoats, seeing their defiance towards Uun the reason for this divine retribution. After a series of progroms by some of the Empire's last remaining sane citizens, the Joos had no chance but to run away, travelling to whichever realm that would host them.

From that point on, the Joos lived a nomadic life, using their caravans and cantirs (big tents that serve as houses) to travel around. They initially made their way southwards to Drunigzar, but were blamed by the King after a deadly fire broke out in one of the biggest lighthouses of the land, and were once again expelled. This once again occured with the Khenomerics, as the Joos were branded as Magoclergy collaborators, and facing imprisonment and death, fled once more.

It was during their hardest journey, trekking through the Ogabo Desert, that one Joo - Mohan Sinar - saw a vision, bestowed upon him (as the Zorah states) a messenger by god. In that vision Mohan saw a wondrous mountain and a surrounding valley to the west - called Zion - where the Joos would be free from all their oppressors.

The Joos were overenjoyed with this revelation, and despite being battered by both nature and the local tribes in Ogabo, suffering great losses, they made it to the lands of the Snoloths, crossing into Witchelven territory
>>
>>88881961
The Witchelven state at that time was still a rising power, and had made a name for themselves as ruthless slavers. The Joos learned this the hard way, as they were misled into the The Great Bonefort, being imprisoned this for nearly a decade. This last for almost a decade, until Mohan Sinar, now the de facto leader of the various Jooish clans, but also old and withered, casted a spell from his oakenwood staff (shattering it in the process), killing the Witchleven Matriarch, and orchestrating a miraculous escape for his kin.

The Joos then made their way into Hasteria and into Oront, and it was then that they learned about the existence of the Big Rock Candy Mountain, a fabled mountain that was supposed to exist in the Valley of Zion. Mohan Sinar, before his death, was bestowed with yet another vision. The God of the Joos demanded that they were not to settle in the valley or the mountains of Zion, but instead in the surrounding lands, mainly the plains of Aelysia. This land was under the rule of Azan, and the Joos agreed to become vassals of the Empire, as long as they were allowed to live there freely, alongside keeping their religion and customs.

This co-existence went on for two centuries, until tensions arose between the Azaneese and the Joos. According to the Zorah, it was the Azanese Emperor of the time, Teodoro II of House Gepeto (belonging to the Eighth Dynasty of Azanese rulers) that betrayed the Joos, and used his court mages to cast a curse on these nomads, turning the fields of Aelysia into a desert, and the Joos into repulsing beastfolk, due to their persistent heathenry. Even though Azanese historians dispute this version of the story, it is true that the Joos were becoming increasingly unpopular in the urban centers of the Empire, due to their strange customs and religion.
>>
>>88882150

The Azanese archives follow a different version of the story, stating that Teodoro II called upon the Joos to fight against the Drow Empire, and the Joos cowardly refused. For that reason, the Emperor cursed them, turning them into what they are now.

To this day, the Joos are still roaming around most of western Giantstep in their caravans, although most of them still reside in the wailing desert. Upon their transformation into catfolk, the Joos became even more mistrusted by the local populace, and for that reason rarely are Joos allowed to enter in most cities, instead being content in running their merchant caravans outside of them.

>Society and Culture

Even though there are various Jooish clans, they all speak one language, known as Tlemani, which is different to any other human language found in the west. These Jooish clans existed since before their expulsion from the Merfolk Empire, yet during their time as humans, had little differences in appearances. Nowadays, these clans can be differentiated by their appearance, as some Joos tend to look more like the typical sandcats of the wailing desert, while others, belonging to the more famous caste, hailing from Mohan Sinar himself, are more tigerlike in their looks.

These clans, although each one being independent from one another, are still vassals of Azan, and pay taxes to the Emperor from time to time, although are self governing in all but name, since Azanese authorities seldom wander in the wailing desert. The majority of Joos are nomads, with very few of them permamently residing in cities in Azan, the Witchelven Empire, Changrila and the twin cities of Urgun, operating as money lenders and merchants.
>>
>>88882224
The Joos are well known for their love of music and weaving tapestries and carpets, as well as for their use of a hallucinogenic drug, known as Semiuta, that is said to be able to put them in a state of absolute tranquility. Rarely has a foreigner ever lived with the Joos in order to document their customs in detail.

>Economy

The Joos hold a reputation as greedy people, driven only by their desire for earning coin. Most of Jooish caravans help facilitate land trade between it and Oront, the Witchelven empire, the Furlani cities, the people of the golden hills and more, while those residing in cities indulge themselves in the art of money lending, insurance broking and selling other goods. In many cities, their entry is prohibited upon the penalty of death, due to many Joos earning a reputation as smugglers, disturbers of the peace, as well as drug dealers.

Some Joos even offer themselves as mercenaries, although they are seen as generally untrustworthy, even compared to other sellswords.

>The Joos

The Joos have the appearance of a humanoid feline, ranging from ones looking like housecats; no bigger than hobbits, to others being similar to tigers, dwarfing even the biggest humans in height and muscle. These incredibly differences in appearance are more important to humans than to the Joos themselves, whose culture and society is relatively homogenous, with few instances of inter-species racism and discrimination.

For example, the Azaneese are least trustful of the Enneki (Joos that are of small stature and look like Lynxes) due to their history of being hired by assassin guilds, the Orbelah, sandcat looking folk that are seen as greedy and distrustful, as well as the Raht, huge tiger-looking folk who even though are considered more honorable than their lynx and leopard kinsmen, are considered dangerous thanks to their uncharacteristically non-Jooish like ferocity and strength.

>Religion

Perhaps the most defining aspect of the Joos, apart from their cat-like appearance, is their religion, which, even though poorly understood by most, has been the cause of tensions and controversies for more than a millenium. The Joos believe in the existence of one God, who is to remain unnamed, responsible for the creation of the world as well as all its creatures. This God, speaking through his two mistresses; the sun and the moon, spoke to His chosen people, the Joos, choosing them to act as His shepherds, guiding the people of Giantstep against blasphemy and false gods such as Uun, whom the preaching against earned the initial mistrust towards the Joos in the Merfolk Empire. The Joos are extremely pious and many have died as martyrs, refusing to give up their faith.

This Joois faith experienced a schism around the time of their transformation to cat-people. Originally, it was believed that this that occured to them was a curse (as written in the Zorah), while others, came to be known as the "New Order", believed that their appearance was not a curse, but a divine gift bestowed upon them by God, who intended for that to happen in order for them to continue His work. As the new order gained more and more supporters, lines of the Zorah were seemingly rewritten, and the supporters of the original belief (known as purists) are now relegated to one lonely lion-like tribe, the Amaritans, who live isolated in one of the most mountainous areas of the Wailing Desert.

>Geography

Porous bedrock which absorbs all rainfall combined with vicious mountain winds make this one of the most uninhabitable regions in the Azan Empire. The wailing desert is also ripe with numerous sand dunes, who when stepped upon by many people at once, are known to cause landslides and sinkholes beneath them, creating a sound not alike that of wailing, giving it its name.

>Whereby

>History:

Like the neighboring regions of Thereby and Hereby, the name Whereby comes from a popular poem, or perhaps the poem comes from the names of the regions, no one really remembers anymore as the regions have held their names for a long time.

Whereby has been home to the world’s largest concentration of brownies as long as anyone can remember, and is most likely the racial homeland of the brownies.

Whereby has traditionally been associated with the Elven Empire and the Faerie Lords, though no Faerie Lords of note settled there. However, lesser lords, druids, and other senior vassals of prominent Faerie Lords have long lived in the region, and many of them have encouraged brownies to settle in their lord’s holdings in other regions of the world. Due to this, brownies can be found in small clusters throughout the northern third of the world, generally serving powerful fey. A few brownies have left for other reasons, and can be found in human lands, though generally near hobbits or gnomes.

Many wars have occurred along Whereby’s coast between the fey and the Azanese. However, few brownies live near the coast, so this rarely affected them much. The creation of the gibberling horde under the Baalps has proven more of a threat to the brownies, even if it helped drive the Azanese from the coast.

>Government:

Whereby doesn’t have a central government. Druids, lesser Faerie Lords, and other such figures often fill a religious leadership role, and sometimes a secular leadership role, but it is rare these days for them to agree on anything.

Towns, villages, and tribes often have elected leaders, though their power is minimal outside their boundaries.

Whereby is generally seen as the weakest of the five regions that make up the “Lands Behind the Hedge”. When major councils are held among the fey, only a small smattering of druids and minor Faerie Lords represent Whereby.
>>

>>88884946

>Economy:

Due to the massive size differences, the brownie economy isn’t linked much with the economies of other races. Each brownie tribe is self-sufficient in terms of food whether they are hunter-gatherers or farmers, and most are skilled crafters as well. A few use trusted hobbits and gnomes to trade highly intricate crafted items for foreign novelties.

Hobbits run many inns, trading caravans, etc., through Whereby to facilitate trade between Hereby and hobbit communities in the Evergreen Pastures. The few large farms in Whereby are also hobbit owned.

There are still a few hobbit, elf, and human fishing villages along the coast. Villages of dwarves and gnomes tend to focus on mining, quarrying, and crafting, though they usually do a bit of farming and herding on the side as well. Most other inhabitants of Whereby are hunter-gatherers.

>Foreign Relations:

Most people on the west coast and Scimitaria are barely aware Whereby exists, and many just treat it as a sub region of Hereby.

Whereby has close relations with Elfwood, Windwillow, Thereby, and Hereby, as many druids and minor Faerie Lords are vassals of Faerie Lords based in those regions. Hobbits in Whereby also do some trade with Evergreen Pastures and the Baalps.

Whereby is closest with Hereby, as Whereby is home to many hobbits who have strong familial ties with those in Hereby. However, some groups of wilder and unseelie fey live in Whereby and cause trouble via thieving and assault, therefore there are sometimes guards posted along parts of the Whereby-Hereby border where troublemakers are known to operate.

Whereby occasionally gets raided by foreigners. Usually gibberlings from beneath the Baalps, but also sometimes agents of Mutaa, pirates along the coast, or troublemakers from Thereby.

>Geography:

Similar to its neighboring regions, Whereby has an idyllic landscape of forests, rolling hills, meadows, and the occasional farm.

The brownies live primarily underground, or sometimes in trees, so it is difficult to locate their communities without insider knowledge. Most travelling through the region will rely on roads and inns built and operated by hobbits, as well as some gnomes and dwarves.

>Demographics:

Brownies are the most numerous race in Whereby, but due to their small size and reclusive nature, they aren’t the most prominent or powerful. They generally resemble six inch tall humans (or pale elves), but some subraces look radically different due to past modifications by Faerie Lords.

Hobbits are the second most numerous race, and the most visible. They handle much of the merchant trade and large scale farming.

Gnomes are also fairly common, as well as some dwarves. They are prominent in local mining and crafting guilds.

Some humans live along the coast, most of them Westerlings with deep ties to the region.

Other fey and fey associated races are also common here, including assorted elves, goblins, fairies, animalkin, she-eep, and harpies. Many live in the more dangerous border regions of Whereby, but pockets can be found scattered throughout.

>Religion:

Like many fey cultures, the inhabitants of Whereby acknowledge certain gods, but don’t give them much focus.

Instead, most inhabitants are at least in some way associated with a druid, lesser Faerie Lord, or other such individual. These individuals promote the ethos of a more powerful Faerie Lord or faction, not unlike religious clergy in many other parts of the world. Most druids, etc., have long term associations with a particular community or tribe, so most common folk follow the same ideals as the rest of their community, though some outcasts and misfits will seek out different communities that suite their needs better.
>>
>>88884998

There are six major “factions” of Faerie Lord present in Whereby, though these are rough groupings at best, with significant overlap. Nor do members of the same faction reliably ally with each other, due to fickleness, old grudges, narcissism of small differences, etc.

The “selfless” are content to aid their followers rather than impose changes on them, and sometimes model themselves on their favored race. Includes Arbul Applebloom (for hobbits and farmers), Scruffy (for dog fans), Stoutheart (for militias and border communities), and Fendrick Boldbodin (gnomes and miners).

The “egoists” are fickle, and self-centered, but not necessarily as cruel as the unseelie fey. Includes Voluptuia (she-eep, herders, and degenerates) and the Autumn Queen (mostly hereditary followers and power seekers).

The “enlightened” have strong interests in knowledge and magic, but are often remote and aloof. Includes Drumphry (quiet scholars), Nikkla (hermits and isolationists), and Snowcloud (idealists).

The “wilders” are the most fickle and unpredictable of the fey. They include the Snatcher (for thieves and bandits), Lord Hedon (satyrs and hedonists), the Digger (fanatical or crazed miners and prospectors), and YiffYiff (for degenerates).

The “naturalists” are the most fanatical about protecting nature from exploitation. Includes Treebeard, Crimisa, and Wicked Gale.

The “unseelie” have embraced the darkest and cruel parts of fey nature. Some work with demons and other dark gods, while others still see most fey as their allies and focus their cruelty on enemies of the fey. Includes Nichtmair (for vigilantes and power hungry), Brambleghora (for sneaky sadists), and Pumpkin Jack (for pyromaniacs). Luckily unseelie fey are pretty rare in Whereby.

>Military:

The brownies themselves are too small to fight conventionally against other races, but some are adept enough at constructing traps or casting spells to be dangerous in the right conditions. Their best strengths are scouting and espionage, but without the support of other races, this knowledge often can’t be exploited. As a result, brownies avoid conflict whenever possible, but will sometimes support militias and war bands of other races if they feel it is in their interests.

Instead, brownies excel at avoiding trouble to begin with, and if needed are also excellent at fleeing. Most of their communities are underground, in trees, or other hard to reach places. Elaborate tunnel networks allow them to move between sentry positions or flee trouble. Scouts and rangers often ride large beetles, birds, and small dogs to cover ground more quickly.

Luckily Whereby is generally a pretty safe place, and the rougher parts are often home to humans, elves, and other races that can hold their own in a fight.

One area where the brownies do take defense seriously is the Great Hedge, but even here they mostly stick to scouting and spying, while allied gnomes and other fey do most of the fighting.

>Soothsinger Sparrow
The soothsinger sparrow is a species of bird present all throughout western Giantstep, though it's mostly located in the lands of the Hedge. A seemingly common sparrow, its most noteworthy trait its is high level of intelligence. Centuries of selective breeding on the part of brownies and other diminutive fey have managed to create a species with a level of intelligence similar to dolphins. As such, not only they serve as mere mounts for the smaller fey, but also behave in groups and communicate to a certain level with sentient species. To do this, they have developed a complex system that mixes body language and songs to communicate both with their handlers and with each other. Soothsingers need a lot of intellectual stimuli to develop correctly, with many of their fey handlers doubling as singers or playing an instrument, using music to stimulate the bird. The sparrows will even join in and begin improvising their own tunes, with such a complexity and talent that surprises many who hear them first time. Their physical appeareance is near identical to common sparrows, other than a slightly bigger size and denser plummage to make riding them more comfortable. The main method to differentiate them is in their behavior. Soothsinger Sparrows are much less nervious than most songbirds, needing to move much less while on the ground, and they are also capable of paying attention to a single spot for much longer. They also group up in flocks of hundreds, creating some of the most complex flight patterns on the sky. The soothsinger birds can be found both free and domesticated.

>Land of the Fake Humans

>History

The "Fake Humans", as they are called, don't have any written history about their holdings, which means that all we know about this land comes from various records and mentions from before their appearance.

This land, full of prairies, low hills and fertile grasslands, used to contain various towns that consisted of tribes of gnomes, hobbits (referred to as "halflings" by humans) and manskin ogres, usually holding their allegiance towards their neighboring kinsfolk. Due to the relative seclusion of the races that live beyond the hedge, and the Glass Mountains that act as a barrier between this land and Waldemaria, these lands rarely saw any outside visitors outside of few that belonged to the races that lived there, so it's impossible to determine the exact date or chronology that the "Fake Humans" started to appear, although it's believed that it started to happen shortly before the exile of the Vzdoruye from Zapalovah.

Throughout the past century, the hobbits, gnomes and manogres that used to live there either moved or died out, and were subsequently by Fake Humans, who most believe are their descendants.

There are some scholars who dispute this claim, as Hobbits and Gnomes are known to be able to produce fertile offspring between each other, and not with ogres, and that even if they could, they wouldn't match the appearance of the fake humans. These scholars believe that the Fake Humans are the product of magical (and not natural) interbreeding, and either place the blame on either the nefarious Bog Witch, who is in control of other similar-looking creatures, or the dreaded sorcerers of Mossovoy, the Vzdoruye, who are known to dwell in the art of flesh sculpting, with the creation of many hybrids attributed to them.
>>
>>88895179
The last theory credits the Smiling Watches, distortions of fey gods that the Fake Humans pray to, as their creators. Little is known about those beings, apart from the fact that the Fake Humans treat them as beings that bring good harvests and fertility to the soil.

>Government and Demographics

Like the Lands Beyond the Hedge, the Fake Humans don't form a singular government, but instead consist of several independent communities, with self-elected rulers and councils governing them, although, as it seems, even the lowliest of peasants are relatively autonomous, with them oweing their allegiance to their family first, and then to whatever "state" they exist under.

Histeriah is almost entirely populated by these fake humans, even though sparsely, and the few "purebred" manogres, gnomes and hobbits that can be found there not being permament residents, but rather running merchant caravans in and out of the realm.

Finishing the stuff about the Lemon Kingdom. I'm assuming the capital of the kingdom is also called Lemonaint, to simplify things.

>Foreign Relations
The Lemon Kingdom is a big player in the sea trade in the Huan-Ho-Sei and the Gun-Po Sea, though it faces growing competition from both within the Great Peninsula of Cemak I and outside of it. The biggest competition they face is Changrila. From its birth, Changrila has pushed to increase their influence in the region, mostly through diplomatic and financial pressures. While these initiatives were interrupted during the Changrilese Civil War, the God-Emperor’s desire to grow his borders is not limited to the Ögchuck and the Golden Hills. Control over the Peninsula of Cemak I would grant Changrila near monopoly of the Huan-Ho-Sei Sea, plus the ability to further project their trade towards the south. The Lemon Kingdom maintains cordial relations with Changrila’s nobility and merchants, something needed to keep any possible threat from growing into something worse. Lemonese nobility also has a lot of ties with the areas in most tension with Changrila, the Ögchuck Fiefdoms and the Golden Hills, helping these areas to maintain their independence from the shadows so that they don’t have the time to focus on the Peninsula of Cemak I. The lemonese also keep good relations with the Kingdom of Azhar Nar. The key position of the kingdom at the mouth of the Huan-Ho-Sei Sea and its proximity to the Nasrs makes friendship with the Azharese something of a necessity, despite old fights with the taifas that were around before Azharese unification. They are also interested in slowing down the growing changrilese influence.
>>
>>88904065
Inside of the Peninsula of Cemak I, the nations there have a thin balance of friendship and rivalry. While they all desire to keep changrilese influence far from their lands, the Kingdom of Lemon and the Kingdom of Lorient have had a strong rivalry since their independence from Azan to become the main power from the region. Outside these two, the lands are either barbaric or uncivilized, and both Lemonaint and Oriant see these areas as nothing but occasional trouble, full of ogres, trolls and warlords. Currently, the Kingdom of Lemon has fallen under the influence of Lorient, which managed to put their royal candidate on the throne, keeping the nation as somewhat of a vassal. However, lorientain nobility have refrain from pushing heavily against the lemonese, seeing that the lorientain crown could use the same tools and laws that could subjugate the Kingdom of Lemon to take away the lorientain nobility’s rights and privileges. They also worry that the lemonese nobility, skilled in the arts of politics and diplomacy, could finally decide to push the subject once and for all and eject the puppets from Lorient, something that would cause a war in the region, weakening it too much to oppose Changrila. This has created something of a complex rivalry between the two kingdoms, with many friendships and clashes between the knightly and enlightened lemonese and the practical and direct lorientain noble houses.
>>
>>88904095
The relation between the Lemon Kingdom and the Nasr Satrapies are quite cold. The Nasr have not forgotten the war with the Lemon Kingdom and Lorient, and wish to recover their lands. However, they are not in a position to do so. Even as a vassal of Lorient, the Lemon Kingdom is more than a match for the Satrapies, both in terms of navy and army. Plus, they fear changrilese influence more than they fear any further lemonese expansion, so this keeps both the Nasr and the Lemonese relatively close, though there is no lost love or friendship between them.
>>
>>88904105
South and east of the Lemon Kingdom, the rest of the lands near it are considerably more backwards and violent in the eyes of the lemonese. The InGurLand is source of frequent attacks and raids, with the old azanese fortifications within Morgull’s Mountains seeing frequent action against the orcs. The lemonese orcs that reached the kingdom during the “Great Migration” have adapted to life in the kingdom, though they are seen as second class citizens and mostly used as mercenary work, most of them located at the borders between the Kingdemocracy and the Nasr, to avoid possible fraternization between the orcs from InGurLand and them. The Lemonese keep good relations with the Mostnoblest Noble Kingdemocracy of the Civilized Trolls, seeing it as a strange, humorous oddity that could be surprisingly useful as a buffer against Changrila. Indeed, the land of the “civilized” trolls being on the isthmus connecting the peninsula with the rest of Giantstep allows the Lemonese and the Lorientain to focus their military efforts on their navy, safe in the knowledge that the trolls would help them greatly if they were ever invaded by land. However, the economy and administration of a country organized by trolls is by not means stable, so the Kingdom of Lemon and Lorient help them occasionally with donations of food, keeping them in their good graces. The Lemon Kingdom sees the southern peninsula as lawless, with the Golden Skulls mere mercenaries turned into warlords, being the only authority that, theoretically, could bully the other forces in the region into submission. Unlike Lorient, however, the lemonsese are not interested in growing their influence there, being too far to exert their power within the land. Both Lorient and Lemon do want to prevent them from using the strange devices discovered by the archaeologists in the region, and keep frequent sea patrols in case they need to intervene to capture or destroy a particularly dangerous device.

Lorient put their candidate in the lemonese throne, but they do not push their influence over the kingdom that much for fear of conflict.
>>
>>88907253
the OG lore of the Lemon Kingdom, according to the wiki and the archives, is:

>The Lemon Kingdom, or Limonaint as it is called in Lorient was long both a rival and trading partner of the Lorientain kings. Buying lemons and other fruits from the area, first in its era as a duchy, and later as a kingdom, was a must for any lorientain noble or merchant wanting to impress. In return Limonaint received iron, fish, and goods bought from far shores from Lorient. The trade was often disrupted by Lorientain nobles or kings claiming land to the north, and many a war has been fought between the two, though these wars often took the theatrical form of Lorientain civil conflict, often being more mock-battlea than real war. The cycle of war and trade was finally broken when king Guille of the Lemon kingdom died without an heir, and through the complicated system of succession, the throne went to the crown prince of Lorient, Guidon, later Guidon III. From then on the Limonaint has been a vassal state of Lorient, with the crown prince traditionally holding the title "Lord-regent of the Lemon Kingdom".

>Big Rock Candy Mountain

The Big Rock Candy Mountain, instead of just a mountain - as its name states - is actually a small strip of land south of Oront, where a forested mountain range and valley (the valley of Zion) can be found. Its namesake comes from the fable of the Candy Mountain, which states that in the Big Rockies, which is the name of the mountain range, one can find a miraculous mountain with magical properties, with springs that taste like wine, trees that grow apples made of gold, and where one can refille their bottle of booze without limit. Although mentions of this so called mountain in the Big Rockies have been dated to time immemorial, no one can tell exactly where it is, or which one of the area's mountains is responsible for these wonders. Travellers often find themselves in the Big Rock Candy Mountains' proximity - whether by accident or not - get lost in its pleasures, and awaken after a long night's sleep elsewhere from where they slept, with no one ever coming across it again.

Azaneese scholars are at loss trying to explain this phenomenon. While others are more logical, accrediting the effect of the Big Rock Candy Mountain to supposed hallucinogenic effects of plants or the water of the Big Rockies area, others claim that the Candy Mountain is the work of a Fey lord, who finds pleasure in tricking humans and plunging them into a world of vice and pleasure that they can never hope to experience again.
>>
>>88907782
>History and Population

The Big Rockies contain the ruins of several ancient lost cities whose origin is unknown. The Joos claim the Candy Mountain as the promised land of their people, Zion, the land of Milk and Honey, one where they can finally escape the oppression of others. The Joos complete pilgrimages ever year to the Big Rockies, laying treasure to what they believe is the Big Rock Candy Mountain, the holy site of their faith. The Changrilese claim to have built the first city in the valley of Zion, the lost city of Shangri-La, a mystical, harmonious valley, gently guided from a lamasery, enclosed in the western end of the Big Rockies.

Although most find the Changrilese' claims dubious, there is actually a native population that lives in the Valley of Zion (who are not friendly at all towards the Joos) and the forrested hills of the Big Rockies, who are not too far in appearance to the Changrilese commonfolk. These sheep-herding natives are few in number and live in sparsely populated villages around the area, and are also superstitious, being deathly afraid of approaching the location of the Big Rock Candy Mountain (which they supposedly know its exact location, but refuse to reveal it to any outsider).

The Big Rockies and the Valley of Zion are located to the south of Oront, east of Azan's heartland. The land falls under the Empire's borders, although it is under Oront's (which is a vassal of Azan) de facto control and jurisdiction. They function as autonomous sanctuary zones for both Azan and Oront, making it a crossroad for trade and commerce between both lands.

>The Seer's Tortoise
The Seer's Tortoise, also known as the Astromancer's Turtle, is a species of reptile found exclusively in captivity. It's origins' date is murky, but it's well known that this was a collaboration between wizards and astromancers to create a tool to predict the future. While the end result doesn't actually predict future events in any way noticeable, it has become a symbol of prestige to own one, for both the wizard and the astromantic communities. The Seer's Tortoise is a big creature, almost 2m of length and half a meter of height, with stumpy legs and leathery scales, usually wrinkled and giving it a very old appeareance. Its neck is considerably long, and they can use it to reach vegetation in places inaccessible to them due to their bulk. However, the main feature of this creature is that, instead of a regular shell, the Seer's Tortoise has a massive eye on its back. Covered by an incredibly resistent and fully transparent substance, this eye moves as if it was alive and conscious, paying attention to things and with its pupil expanding or contracting depending on the light. Many wizards believe the tortoise can see through this eye, though the creature doesn't seem to react when something happens and the eye pays attention to it. Seer's Tortoises can live up to 500 years old.

Ok, so the difficult and tedious part of the list is done. I have added all gods and godlike entities I've been able to find. I'm still not sure if the parameters are that good for the list, but that can be tweaked later. Any further suggestions?

Also, can someone please confirm I don't have duplicates? So many fey gods have multiple names, so maybe I have added them twice.

Also, damn, I didn't realize how many faerie lords we had...
>>
>>88917494
there's some contradictions in the history tab with its OG lore (About it not being a vassal of Lorient)

also I'd say some mention of religion and/or demographics; the area around it has a lot of non human races so it'd be cool to find out

For the lists? Not really, though I should really add more parameters, even if it's just to indicate which parts of the lore haven't been developed yet.

I have a couple of lists now:
>Bestiary
>Sentient Species
The most complete of the ones I have. still think I've missed a few.
>Capital Cities
>Pantheon
Including gods, faerie lords, demigods, dragongods, and people/things adored as divine beings.
>Monsters and Demons
Things that could be use as evil encounters. This one definitely needs more work.
>>
>>88917522
A couple of doubts about the list.

-Should I add the rest of the Bog Witch's daughters? The only one consistenly mentioned as being worshiped is Mutaa.
-Shouls I include saints? I've added prophets and mortals venerated, but I'm not sure if Saints should be included as well.

>Lemon Kingdom

>Demographics

Even though Limonaint has its fair share of towns and cities, its biggest population centre and capital, Guipouy, is nowhere near as large or populous as Orient, the capital of Lorient. The Lemon Kingdom has a more rural centered society than Lorient, although both of their inhabitants are relatively similar.

Both the Limonais and the Lorientois speak similar, mutually intelligible languages, and the vast majority of those realms are inhabited by humans, mostly native, although foreign ones like Nasrian and Azharnarese sailors are not an uncommon sight, as are Furlaniyan sellswords and Azaneese as well as Changrilese envoys.

Small pockets of other races can be found here and there. In cities, one can spot Jooish merchants peddling their goods, while southern Limonaint is home to the few troll clans that still haven't fled to their kinsmen in the Mostnoblest Democracy of Civilized Trolls.

>Religion

The overwhelming majority of humans, and especially the locals, follow the New Azan Faith, although with some remaining influences of the old paganese worship that have still survived due to the Nooshde caste's handling of most of religious matters.

Developing the Laurentian Crusade. Let's see how it goes.

>Society and Culture
The portion of land occupied now by the Laurentian Crusade used to be occupied by a multitude of powers: the north was under the influence of the Zapalovah Republic, the east was part of the Land of Windmills, and the west and most of the central lands were composed of marquisates and duchies vassals to the king of Waldemaria. Each of these areas was left to its own devices, serving as a buffer for the different human nations, and as such, the area was highly militarized from the get go. Most of the fortifications, castles, walled towns and other defensive structures dated from the 23rd Century, during the Second Zapalovah-Waldemarian War. While the mainteneance of these structures had fallen into disrepair, since trade between the two nations had guaranteed good and profitable relations without the need of war, the population was well aware that they inhabited frontier land. As such, the peasantry was well prepared in case of war, hiding weapons such as forks, axes, guisarmes, clubs, and plenty of bows and arrows. They were well aware owning weapons was illegal, but the absolute need of defending themselves in case of war simply meant this was a very public secret. With well-armed peasantry, the local nobility need to be sharp, and stay active and skilled at arms. The nobles had great arsenals for war, some of them surprisingly modern, just in case the peasantry rebelled. After the birth of Mossovoy and the catastrophic war with the necromancers, the entire region ended up in massive turmoil. The previous rivalries, personal vendettas and dynastic clashes were put aside to fight the necromancers, since the followers of Zanzarah are a threat to both nobles and peasants alike.
>>
>>88926964
The need to fight the necromancers has turned the people living in the Laurentian Crusade into fierce combatants, always prepared for war. Over the decades, many nobles and mercenaries alike have come from overseas to serve in the crusade against the necromancers. The reasons for this have varied considerably. Some believe the necromancers’ expansion to be a genuine threat to the region, and need to be stopped at all costs, at least until the great powers take a more active stance against Mossovoy. Some others believe that they will gain the favor of their gods or their lords, and fight to obtain honor and glory against the dark sorcerers. Some others are mercenaries in search for a paycheck, and fighting zombies and skeletons at the borders beats other activities. And some, especially the younger and more inexperienced, answer the call to arms in search of adventure, not realizing the grave risks they assume when fighting the undead. As such, since the land is ruled in a feudal style, where the nobility is bared from working the land, it has created a considerable problem of supply. The peasantry has to work increasingly harder each year, to pay for the war expenses, the maintenance of their lords and to protect themselves from the occasional necromantic raid. The help from the neighbors and from far away nations is simply not enough to guarantee the resources needed to keep up the war. As such, the laurentian crusaders are known to practice a very ascetic existence. Riches is not something one will get at the service of the crusade. Even the highest lord must be content with just four meals a day and enough resources to arm himself. The knights are given just enough to stay at peak efficiency, and everything else is disregarded. This has caused a lot of frustration between the newcomer knights, hearing the tales of glory and triumph of the original campaign.
>>
>>88926972
However, this frugal lifestyle is absolutely necessary, with the knights dedicating all their efforts to hone their skills or plan against the undead. In the eyes of the peasantry, this is seen as a good thing, since the nobility suffers most of the same hardships as they do, and it helps avoid revolts caused by the growing taxes.
>>
>>88926982
Long gone are the rich and regal knights of old, nowadays the knights wear more modest armor, more suited to fight the hordes of zombies and skeletons rather than fellow armored knights. Their shinning and heavy armor is useless when fighting hordes of undead, since the extra weight will cause the enemy to trample them and literally drown them under a sea of bodies. Instead, the knights prefer speed, using bows as their first weapon, and forming phalanxes of lancers to defend the archers behind. They are great riders, mounting and moving to more favorable terrain once they realize they could be overrun. If all of this fails, they can always go to one of the hundreds and hundreds of castles and fortresses throughout the region. These castles are manned by the oldest knights, those whose age impedes them from fighting in the open, but whose wisdom and experience are invaluable in case of a siege. The crusaders have built many castles, both of new design and those centuries old rebuilt expanded over the years. These fortresses are designed to last for months at a time, with sieges made by zombies being able to outnumber the defenders 10 to 1, but in these cases, they are used as mindless drones, only effective as a horde, giving a massive advantage to the defenders. The use of necromantic constructs and other undead abomination is also frequent, and the crusaders have hoarded a lot of magical knowledge to counter them.
>>
>>88926992
Some of the wizards who volunteer for the fight against Mossovoy have begun studying necromancy to counter the followers of Zanzarah. These individuals, known by the crusaders as the “Peace Givers”, are a controversial addition to the crusade. Some knights are in favor of them, thinking that the regular ways are not enough to push back the necromancers, and they need to find a way to counter their magic beyond just picking up a sword and hacking up hordes of undead. Other knights see them with mistrust and disdain, in their eyes no better than the heathens they are fighting to begin with. They are watched over by the rest of the crusaders, and have very strict rules of engagement. They are not allowed to raise the dead, instead, they are there to sever the link between the dead and the necromancer, or to detect the wizard in charge of the horde so the knights can destroy him. Needless to say, the mossovoian necromancers absolutely hate the Peace Givers, and will try at all costs to capture them, punishing them with extremely painful and tortuous methods, where dead is not an escape, but just a stage before the real pain begins.

Continuing with the Laurentian lore.

>Foreign Relations
The knights of the Laurentian Crusade have travelled the world in search for aid against the necromancers. They understand perfectly that, while having resisted the necromancers’ advance for decades now, it is clear that in a war of attrition, the necromancers have the natural advantage. Thus, they absolutely need help to have a chance to destroy the city of the undead. The crusaders have set up many offices for volunteers in many parts of the world, from Azan to Elanxa. They are also in talks with diplomats from all over the world, especially those in areas where necromancy is most feared and rejected. For the most part, Mossovoy is not seen as that much of a threat. Azan, Changrila and the nearby nations are more focused on the Witchelven Empire and the Succubus Breaches, a threat much more solid to them than a cult of necromancers to the north, where the Glass Mountains block their path anyway. The nations in Scimitarian are far from the necromancers, with the sea separating them from any potential danger. The nations of Tarot, Elanxa and the Woodcutter Cities are more focused on the expansionist Avangar Empire. And finally, the kingdoms south of the Dem Helidden Peninsula are simply too far to offer anything but individual volunteers seeking adventure in faraway lands, and even then, they have the gnoll to worry about.
>>
>>88929160
This means that, other than financial help and allowing the recruiting of volunteers in their territory, the far away countries do not partake in the fight against Mossovoy in any significant degree. The bulk of the foreign volunteers come from Zemyland, the Orange Marquissates and the Lands Behind the Hedge. Zemylander volunteers are hardy mercenaries, attracted by the chance of fighting and the legends of the Voivod Lorentz. The figure of Lorentz is greatly admired in many zemylander nations, something that has lasted to this day, existing plenty of poems and stories talking about his adventures in the north and the west. Many fortune seekers travel to the crusade for the chance of gaining glory against the undead monsters. The Orange Marquissates also brings many mercenaries and knights, mostly from the healthy noble houses. It is very frequent for noble houses to send the sons who won’t inherit title or property in search of fortune, and their knightly routes means that the crusade is a great fit for them. These nobles are particularly helpful for the crusade, since they will not only bring their own high quality equipment, but they will usually arrive in big groups, with many squires and retainers that will pick up arms as well. Plus, connections with the rich and powerful noble houses of the marquisates is needed to fund the war. Also, there’s a surprising amount of help coming from the Lands Behind the Hedge. The fey in these areas abhor the dark magics of the necromancers, and many elves have marched to battle them. These groups add most of the mystical knowhow the knights have available, something they rely on immensely. There is even a great amount of hobbits between their ranks, though the reasons for this are poorly understood.
>>
>>88929177
The ones who aid the crusade the most are the countries closest to it. Local help to the Laurentian Crusade is obvious, since Mossovoy has waged war against near all of its neighbors, and there is a clear interest of erasing the necromancers’ city from the map. The most important associate of the crusaders is the Zapalovah Republic. The most powerful nation in this area of the world, the fall of its older rival Waldemaria has put the republic on high alert, and they dedicate many efforts to keep the necromancers at the other side of the border. Zapalovah has lost a good chunk of its land in the continent to the necromancers, and are not willing to be expelled to the other side of the sea. Thus, they frequently fund the crusade, giving them money and weapons they can use. In a similar vein, the waldemarians have swore to help the crusade, since the nation’s woes can be traced to the defeat of the kingdom at the hands of the necromancers. Waldemarians fear the entire nation will end up under the thumb of the followers of Zanzarah. Many nobles, as well as common folk, volunteer to take up arms against the necromancers, but most of them prefer fighting the mossovoians within their own territory, in a long guerrilla war. The towns and cities of the Land of Windmills are also frequently seen aiding the knights, though unlike the other neighbors, they are very distrustful of the knights, fearing they will take over the land if ever the necromancers are slain. The knights also get plenty of manogre mercenaries, with some of the most violent of their ilk finding their way into the knights’ ranks, where their brute strength and resilience is greatly appreciated against the bigger necromantic constructs.
>>
>>88929192
The crusaders absolutely hate dealing with Sniden. His hedonistic way of life and the mystical effects that he causes in most are something the austere knights simply see with disgust. However, the vzdoruye have been trying to gain the favor of the sybaritic faerie lord, seeing him as a messenger of Zanzarah. Because of this, the knights try to interfere with the relations between the two as much as possible. While many mossovoians have asked the God-Emperor Adonis to help them declare war on the knights, he sees the crusade as boorish and boring, and wants nothing to do with them.

Lately, there have been rumors that the laurentian knights have been sending emissaries to the faraway Necrocracy of Okhost, where the legendary Vandervax the Vile rules. In addition, there’s even rumors that Vandervax himself received the knights. What transpired in these conversations, and whether they were real or not, is a matter of whispered speculation.

> The Cursed – The Cursed are certain members of Palazzo’s elite who were cursed with immortality. They seem to follow a cycle of succumbing to vices, torment by demons, and reappearing in the safer areas to repeat the cycle again. They have brownish skin, white hair, and bright eyes, said to be the original appearance of most of the humans of the Merfolk Empire before they took on various cursed forms.

Someone here who wants to write some lore on the Kelpie Shrimp?
>>
>>88945544
I'll give it a go.

>Kelpie Shrimp
The kelpie shrim is a species of crustacean that lives in the hot and template seas of the world. A creature twice the size of a human, it has a very tough but flexible exoskeleton, which is constantly renewing as it grows. To protect themselves, it is full of sharp spikes, allowing them to ram any would be predators with the head spikes, or turn around to stop the bites. This means the predators will need to turn the kelpie shrimp to the side, since its underbelly is much softer and vulnerable. They are bottom feeders for most of the time, but they also frequent some of the fields of kelp in some areas of the ocean, since they also eat many of the kelp parasites. They have fourteen limbs: eight small appendices to crawl between kelp and at the bottom of the sea, four fins that allow them to swim effectively, and a pair of powerful horse-like front legs, used to fend off predators. The "kicks" of these creatures are extraordinarily strong, and help them protect them from attacks to their underbelly. It needs the protection, since despite the appeareances, it is not a particularly fast swimmer, at least compared to other sea fauna.

It is greatly appreciated by fishermen due to its excellent taste, though hunting it in areas with sea elves is forbidden, as they form part of their customs and rituals.
