Agenda item 1: Party on!
Agenda item 2: We probably need a wiki at some point
Agenda item 3: There is a lot of space still to be filled. Particularly the central civilized Inner Ocean

Rules:
>Only fleshed out lore will be added. The one loredump should be around 200 words.
>Only add/claim one nation or lore related to one nation at a time. Other anons want a "piece of the cake" too.
>Please keep the size, power and global importance of your added nation within reason. We don't want power trips.
>Trolling, coomershit and fetish posting will not be tolerated.
>Please don't sperg out if people don't accept or like your lore additions.
>Respect existing lore and try to stick with the general vibe. No scifi, modern or thing-punk elements. It's a low to mid fantasy setting with max 18th century tech level, magic seems quite rare.
>More weird, more should be further away from center
>Don't just add you addition to the map on your own. Please wait until it is done for you. It might take a while but it will eventually be done.

Cambrean presence in the north:
Despite all Cambrean colonies being centered in the south east, there has long been investment by explorers and merchants in the north as well, be it near or far.
Comprising most of Cambrea's northern border on the Lunain river (longest in the Duchy of Cambrea), Rwellen has long served as a useful buffer for the country, but a constant danger lurks within its woods. The swamps found throughout this backwater country have served as breeding grounds for unnatural creatures, with the damp conditions being perfect for their growth. Still, conditions are harsh, and the frequent deaths have allowed for an even worse threat to arise - necromancy. Primitive mages abound in the area, and while their throngs of animated puppets are often exhausted fighting each other, sometimes a particularly cunning mage sees it fit to cross the Lunain into Cambrean territory. Ancient folklore amongst the local peasants speaks of the "Diable Violet", a pastiche of various different necromancers that raided farms during the Cruzade. The Diable frequently appears in bedtime stories, meant to dissuade children from venturing too far away from home, but it has also appeared in festivities. On the holy day of Saint Edouard, canonized for having slain a champion of the undead, actors dress up in purple robes and put on elk horns in order to appear like the Diable, either scaring revelers or reading passages of scripture about the undead. The cultural impact of undead in the north is significant, but moves have been made against further incursions. Under the reign of Grand Duke Henri III, an "ordonnance des territoires du nord" (ordinance of the northern territories) ordered the construction of a line of forts along the Lunain.

An order of chevaliers was dispatched to oversee the construction of these forts, being gifted tracts of land along the river. This order, the Chevaliers of Montjoie, had been selected due to their close links with the Canbrean clergy, as Grandmaster Enguerrand de Roubaix had provided a great deal of funding for the establishment of the then-newly formed Canbrean Church. The Canbrean clergy were formed from the cultural schism between north and south, and sought to establish themselves as a force the rival of the Cometan clergy in Salamanca. This royal edict was the perfect opportunity for them to prove themselves, and they sponsored the chevaliers in civilizing this frontier. Initial efforts were slow, as the vast woods needed to be cleared and repurposed for the construction of forts. Due to no clear border having been determined for centuries, the undead were dispersed throughout the north, meaning little opposition was met to construction efforts. Small wooden forts and trading posts were quickly constructed and Grandmaster de Roubaix was frequently seen riding around the frontier to defend visiting clergymen, and more importantly, to map out Cambrea's natural borders in the north. De Roubaix relegated the cartographic aspects of his mission to the explorer Gustave Mallet, an opportunistic trader who sought the furs of the rare animals found in the region. While construction occurred across the northern territories, Mallet spent his time exploring the river and speaking to the natives, who were a mix of various different races. While there were myths of men with their stomachs on their faces and giants dressed in furs in the area, the explorer was surprised to find truth in many of these myths. While unexpected, the natives remained mostly unfamiliar with Cambreans, having only seen the occasional lost horse or peasant, which provided a crucial opportunity for Mallet.

Could there be a South Revia? I'll write up the lore for it.
>>
>>85867839
Sure!
>>
>>85867839
I don't see why not. If possible, could you mention the existence of some Cambrean settlers, since I want to make a not-Lousiana to complete the 18th century theme for Cambrea. Just mentioning them is fine, I'll write about their role in the area myself.
>>
>>85867916
No problem, dude! I was planning to make them akin to the Netherlands anyway. If you could help me out with the lore for East and West Revia though, that would be nice.
>>
>>85868002
Honestly, there are few major opponents to Revia, so having a rival in the north and west would be perfect. I don't think I'm allowed to write about East or West Revia according to the rules, but the one-nation rule is retarded, so I'll ignore it if needed.
>>
>>85868067
Not quite what I meant. Is there any established lore about them, or is it just their names? I'm fine doing lore for the whole area.

*opponents to Cambrea
Personally I'm just sticking to Cambrea because it's fun, otherwise I would have written lore for a few more nations. Also, now that the spice and fur trade is established, could you make some trade routes? I've given a fairly detailed explanation of the spice trade in the colonial lore.
>>

I'm going to be a bit busy today, so probably later. Also, is the lore in the google doc? I may have to look over it later on, unfortunately.

>>85868088
Sorry, I misunderstood what you meant earlier. The lore for Revia is that it was a former colony of the pan-Rothakian empire before gaining independence. Currently, the east and west parts of it are in a succession war between the descendants of its first leader. I also mentioned that the war is secretly being supported by Cambrea to keep Revia weak.
It has no definitive aesthetic (personally I'm imagining it to be vaguely German), so if you want to make it Dutch, then go ahead. I'll get back to writing now.
>>
>>85868132
Thanks dude! I was thinking of the same thing, but it's also supported by the Republic of South Revia.

Using the universal language of trade, Mallet got along quite well with the natives, negotiating several beneficial trades. Rich with furs and maps of the region, he exchanged them for several maps of the region, becoming a rich man for his efforts. While it was now easy to solidify Cambrean rule over the frontier, there was a problem in the form of the natives. These aboriginals, who had come to be called Blemmyes and Géants respectively, had dwelled by the river and its hinterlands for generations, with tribes of either race occasionally fighting over pieces of land. Mallet had witnessed one of these conflicts, and in his testimonies to the chevaliers, he claimed that faith and moderation would be the best mediator to future conflicts. Faith would come in the form of clergymen, attempting to spread the Cambrean faith (despite the schism in churches, the faith remained unchanged) to the natives, which would encourage tolerance of each other. Moderation would imply a lenient policy towards natives, letting them live freely outside of forts and settlements in the northern territories, so long as they did not harm or impede Cambrean travelers. While his requests appeared philanthropic, Mallet desired loose ducal oversight in the lucrative fur trade in order to make a profit without having to pay tribute to chevaliers or clergymen. His ambitions were successful in the end, as the Knights of Montjoie based their native policy off of his advice. After being paid for his work, Mallet used his newfound wealth
to construct an estate from himself out of the local cedar trees, found nowhere else in Cambrea and difficult to grow outside of the region.

I put all the lore for Cambrea there, so you can look over it when you'd like. For trade routes, just read the description of each colony near the end, and maybe the bit on economy.

Revia first started out as a colony of the Pan-Rokathian Empire, but as the empire fell, the young governor of Revia was able to hold onto his holdings, and due to the ancient Wall of Von, commissioned by an earlier governor to keep out the barbarians from the north, he mainly had to deal with internal politics. Almost immediately he crowned himself Consul of the Kingdom of Revia and began trading with the newly independent nations of Almero and Nessos to the West, and Cambrea to the East, which made Revia quite rich. During this time, many citizens of these four countries intermingled, and Revia still has quite a large population of Cambrean, Almeran, and Nessian immigrants in its larger cities.
But while the Consul was very lucky in regards of trade and administration, his love life wasn't exactly stable, and he only ended up with one daughter and a bastard son of a maid by the time he died. These stepsiblings unintentionally broke the country in three, because due to the succession laws of the governorship being purely agnatic (read male rulers only), the princess could not inherit the country, but the bastard son couldn't inherit because he technically wasn't part of the royal family. Unrest among the lower vassals of Revia was at a boiling point almost instantly. Knowing this, the steward of Revia proposed something. Those who stood with the infant princess would move her to the west, while those who sided with the infant bastard son would move east. Central Revia would be held by the vassals who did not pick a side, in order to make sure that the capital city (also called Revia) would not be destroyed. This marked the first and only time all the lower vassals of the Kingdom of Revia would vote.
After the vote, the new borders would be drawn. The ancient Wall of Jan would surround Old (later Southern) Revia in its entirety.

After his death, Gustave Mallet would be called the first "coureur des bois", a Canbrean term used to refer to the independent explorers who brave the harsh conditions of the northern territories and Rwellen in search of furs to sell. Following the example of Mallet, explorers seeking to escape the restraints of class found throughout Cambrea have made a name for themselves in the region, often crossing the border into Rwellen in search of rare creatures to hunt and sell. Relations between traders and natives are generally positive, as both seek to enrich themselves with the goods of the other, however meetings may sour as a result of a peculiar issue common to the region.
While Mallet explored the wilds, the mission of the chevaliers remained the same; to construct lasting fortifications against future undead attacks. Due to their reanimated nature, the undead did not put much value on rivers, meaning there was a surprisingly low undead presence across the Lunain. This proved a blessing to the chevaliers, and by the time the necromancers within Gran Cambrea came to understand they were being encircled, the forts proved strong enough to hold between the attacking undead hordes. Once undead began attacking their forts, the Chevaliers of Montjoie declaring a Croisade (the Canbrean word of crusade, unlike Cruzade which is a Cambrean term), and fellow chivalric orders such as the Francescans rode north to forever put an end to the undead presence in Cambrea. The battle of Dégelis was the greatest battle of the Croisade, where an outnumbered group of chevaliers and ducal troops fought a massed horde of undead. Widespread use of rocketry would be the doom of the undead, whose compact formations were blown apart, and its outcome meant that the undead no longer had enough numbers to stay in Cambrea, with their necromancers fleeing beyond the Lunain. The battle is considered the last in Cambrean history before the advent of the tercio.

The Northern Road would separate Eastern and Western Revia, and it would later be known as Slachtingweg, or carnage road, due to the innumerable succession wars that are still fought there.
The first election, commonly known as the Eersteverkiezing, gave the lower vassals of Old Revia an idea. They did not need a king. Like some ancient Nessian city-state, they voted for a Councilor (literally 'king vote') to rule over them until he died, or until he was voted out. Thus formed the Republic of Southern Revia, and like the Kingdom before it, it dominated northern sea trade, and referred to itself as the Noordkeader, the North Vein of trade. While its eastern and western cousins fight a pointless, centuries-long war that merely weakens, the Republic reinforces itself even further and has begun to make plans to reunite Revia, by force if need be.

The Croisade lasted from 16-20 C.C., and the noted reliance on chevaliers and rocketry to win battles led to the Burgos conference between the four duchies, which would eventually lead to the creation of the tercio.
With the expelling of undead from Cambrea, the nation had finally stabilized its land border, and the northern territories were stabilized. For their valiant efforts in developing and defending this frontier, the Chevaliers of Montjoie were allowed to maintain rule over the region, with their Grandmaster being its highest authority. A census and geographic survey of the region after the end of the Croisade confirmed several suspicions. Firstly and most interestingly, many flora and fauna of the northern territories were completely different from those found elsewhere in Cambrea, resulting in the abundance of cedar trees and unusual animals like the beaver. This has been suspected to be a result of magic being infused within the soil and air of Rwellen, and by extension the territories, which would provide an explanation of how plants and animals taken outside of the region die of unknown causes due to the change in conditions. While this would make the northern territories into a popular tourist destination, the census brought a less optimistic note with it. Compared to other regions of Cambrea, the population in the territories was very low, due to the native Blemmyes and Géants still remaining in a tribal state and possessing lower birthrates than humans. Still, the future of the region looked bright, an optimism seen within the chevaliers and clergy as the city of Montjoie was founded.
Montjoie, called the "reine du nord" (queen of the north) has grown vastly since its humble founding as a trade hub, being the center of trade and culture within the north.

It is governed by the second-in-command of the chevaliers that are its namesake, and is famous for its beautiful castle, headquarters of the aforementioned Montjoies. Affairs of the northern territories are determined from there, which can vary from trade disputes to deals with the natives. Due to its position on the Lunain allowing it an excellent harbor, the unique goods found in the territory such as cedar, furs and syrup are exported by ship and wagon down to Cambrea (mostly Vailbourg due to its closeness) and the wider world. Its position just south of the Rwellen border makes it the main staging ground of expeditions of fur traders. Practically all visitors to the northern territories stop by the city, walking through its tight streets to see the many churches found throughout.
With the establishment of the trade company system, the former unhindered control enjoyed by coureurs des bois ended, with Cambrean fur traders being required to operate with the license of a trading company. The compagnie des territories du nord (CDTN) controls trade in the northern territories, being run by a descendant of Gustave Mallet. Employed fur traders are now called "voyageurs", and they live harsh lives, travelling far away from their homes to reach the best trading spots. Most of these spots are in Rwellen, necessitating crossing the border through a tributary of the Lunain and travelling down a complex series of rivers, forests, lakes, and swamps. Due to the underdeveloped state of Rwellen, alongside the undead, disbanded soldiers, natives, and bandits found within, most travel is done by canoe down routes known to be safe. Even then travel is grueling, requiring constant work to keep the canoe moving, and a ready musket in case of skirmishes. Still, the great profit earned through a successful journey inspire voyageurs to cross the border and risk their lives to bring back home furs and treasures.

Thank you. I might extend some of the trade routes myself due to rivers like the one Vailbourg's on, but this is perfect otherwise.

In the present day, the Blemmyes and Géants have lived their lives the same as always, though Cambrean goods like silverware, alcohol, grains, sweets, longbows and muskets have found themselves incorporated into their nomadic lifestyle. Despite possessing a rich oral history, their origins are a puzzle to Cambrean anthropologists, with the current theory suggesting an origin similar to humans in Unqueré. As the theory goes, both races came somewhere from the north in search of better land, settling in what are now the northern territories. Further expansion was deterred by threat of orcs, though unlike Cambreans, this threat did not result in retaliation, which when combined with the harsh climate of the territories resulted in their retaining of a tribal lifestyle. Blemmyes are the most unusual of Cambrean subjects, appearing much like humans, but with their heads on their stomachs. They were spoke of in peasant's tales, but their existence was only confirmed by being discovered by Mallet. They are excellent lookouts, and are used as scouts, warning in advance of an undead attack. Due to their vigilant watch, the forts have held strong. Géants were discovered in much the same way, though the stories about them were slightly exaggerated in the sense that they weren't truly giants, simply much taller than the average Cambrean and quite thin. To this day no Cambrean has grown taller than a Géant, and likely never will, with this height making them appealing to the nobility. Grenadiers are recruited from the tallest soldiers, meaning Géants who enlist as auxiliaries are equipped as grenadiers and serve as honor guards of nobility. Over the years, both races of native have accepted the teachings of the Canbrean church, melding the Cambrean faith with their own customs.
>>
One thing I forgot to mention is that exile to Rwellen is considered the highest form of punishment for the nobility, and has been exercised in serious situations such as the leading of an uprising against a duke. Also, if someone wants to add in a small landmass because of the quads, go ahead.
>>85870000
This compromise, while displeasing to the orthodox, is certainly better than nothing. While this acceptance of the faith allows for native and Cambrean to get along when they meet, can be challenged at times. In the northern territories, the chevaliers still maintain the precedent of moderation, allowing natives to travel freely within the territories so long as they do not trouble or harm Cambreans. Yet paranoia can get the better of moderation at times, and these situations are no exception. Despite the trente-saints (collective name of the thirty forts on the Lunain, due to each being named for a saint) having prevented large undead incursions, the occasional group of undead sometimes creeps through, causing harm to the locals and animals. Due to necromancers being found within all races, the natives are often accused for being behind such attacks, with a throng of peasantry and the occasional chevalier demanding a tribe to prove their good will. This is usually performed in the form of tribute, which typically calms the Cambreans enough to prevent the situation from escalating to violence. When discussing the archaic system Cambrea is governed by, the northern territories are often pointed at by intellectuals as an example of backwardness due to superstitious acts like these. This is seen as particularly embarrassing due to how close they are to places of sophistication like Vailbourg. Still, with the increasing turmoil throughout Cambrea, the northern territories are also seen as as haven of sorts, being outside the cutthroat world of Cambrean politics, governed by the chivalric code instead of ambition, and generally at peace.

Four hundred years ago the Lesser Ghuli Desert was populated by nomadic tribes that would wander from oasis to oasis in a somewhat more habitable, but much more destitute, area of the Ghuli, known as the Lesser Ghuli. A 22 year old shaman by the name of Dreshda from a small tribe bordering the edge of the habitable zone left with her husband to explore the Ghuli after being passed up for a leadership role within the tribe. She vanished for 12 years and one day returned, with only a daughter, to the Lesser Ghuli. She had gained otherworldly magical skill and even provided a cure for the curse of the lesser Ghuli, a mysterious affliction that would slowly blind and deafen Lesser Ghulis and have much more rapid, and painful, effects on foreigners. In the span of 16 years, through a variety of both diplomacy and conquest, Dreshda united the entire lesser Ghuli desert under her rule into a more centralized kingdom that was ruled from a newly built capital outside an oasis in the center of the Lesser Ghuli. With her conquests complete, she unexpectedly returned to the Ghuli desert alone, leaving her daughter to rule.
>>
>>85871187
In the 372 years since Dreshda the Savior returned to Ghuli Desert, the kingdom has been fairly stable, but incredibly isolationist. Few Lesser Ghulis ever leave the desert and the cure is seldom given to outsiders, and even then, it fails to fully protect them. However, the kingdom has done very well economically since her departure. Organized extraction of vast mineral deposits that existed within the desert began, trade could flow through the lesser Ghuli from end to end, and extraction of Ghuli Salt could begin which could preserve food for nearly twice the time period normal salt could. More permanant settlements have sprung up around most major oasises, with caravans constantly moving between them. Religious views also shifted from a worship of an oasis god who attempted to protect the Ghulis from her brothers curse shifted to a fanatical worship of Dreshda as a messiah who completely saved their people from the curse and brought riches and prosperity to the land. They also look at the tales of Great Majadai's king returning from the Ghuli with an extreme amount of scorn and virtiol. They view it as unthinkable and insulting to suggest anyone but a Lesser Ghuli could enter and return from the mysterious desert.

The current king is the first in the dynasty to show no magical abilities and there is debate if he will depart for the Ghuli when he turns 50 next year, as is the custom of the shamanic royals, to leave as Dreshda did. Some have left when they turn 22 to mimic her first voyage, but most opt for her second age of leaving at 50. He is also the first to begin looking outside of the desert and conquering a small city state on the coast and spending an increasing amount of time learning of the greater world there.

The Strip

description
The strip got its name from being a very narrow but long border about 1600 km and 300 km wide. The strip is mostly plains and with some rolling hills.

Most settlement are range from small to medium village and many farms near these settlements

Probably the most unique aspect of The Strip is how such narrow nation is land lock with different country's surroundings The Strip border .

How is happened was due it being a violent battlefield between different country for ownership of the strip until a treaty was called and decided to let it be its own independent country.

So it's essentially a neutral buffer state? I'd say put it between Nessos and Anaxos, maybe have there be some ethnic tension in the area that made them unable to be part of an empire, and conditions that made it difficult to invade or otherwise pass through. Though that's all optional, I was just thinking of Switzerland.
>>
>>85872900

a neutral nation is not bad idea maybe a place where people escape if things go wrong. a place not to different from where they where from
>>
>>85873107
Try writing something about that then. Maybe its neutrality is guaranteed by the treaty that formed the country. It could have been part of Anaxos but was released to lower tensions, or something like that. It's up to you.

>Some of the rules in the OP are too strict.
Personally, I'm fine with some of the rules as they are presently. I think it keeps the world consistent to a degree and different compared to the other setting thread. For example, the low presence of magic in the world makes it something to be feared and mastered by the daring, as opposed to others where magic is pouring out everywhere. However, its slowly turning into a high-fantasy setting anyway which isn't really a problem, but something that happens when newer entries come in.

I remember there being a steampunk setting running at the same time as one of these threads (either GE or Autia) though that died out early. It feels like the more times this "/tg/ makes a setting formula" happens, the more contrarians and trolls show up, since I remember there never being any trolls in Autia. GE had a few though.

According to the royal loremasters, the predecessors of the Kingdom of Zhin had control of the southern seas. They were divine beings, immortal and incorporeal. Living amongst the waves, the trickster "God of the Sands" had played a trick that would force the crown prince to become mortal and forbidden to delve into the depths forevermore. And thus, the Kingdom of Zhin had begun.

The Zhin are known for their stringent laws and discipline. It is this discipline that makes their warriors dreaded by their neighbors. Some believe that the local bureaucrats have more power than their own sorcerer-king. One's face, or reputation, is sacred to a person's being. To lose face in front of peers is undesirable, causing one to be shunned or force one to kill themselves. Through pleading of forgiveness, one's face may be restored. Trickery of any sort, whether playful or not, is taught among commoners to be a grievous breach worthy of execution. Some argue, especially the nobles, that performing trickery is only wrong if one is caught. In this way, dealing with some Zhin merchants can be tricky in of itself.

Trade with Cambrea is amicable, and some cultural exchange has flourished. The Rajahnate and the Ghuli Kingdoms are ever wary, believing that the Zhin may want to expand outward into their realms.

Nice writeup anon. Interestingly enough, the art you used could actually be from Nueva-Unqueré, made by a Cambrean colonial subject to depict a visiting Zhinese couple. This is because the actual art is from the Phillipines, and the colony is the not!Phillipines. Also

Shit, now I'm going to have to think of an explanation for why I called it the occident instead of the orient. That's fine, I'll think of something.

The Holy Septenary and Exposition Universelle:
The present day (420 C.C). is considered by theologists and scholars alike to be the holiest year in Cambrean history, for several reasons. Most importantly, it was marked by the coronation of Marisa de Cambrea to Queen Marisa XIV, whose mage blood is considered a good omen for Cambrea's future, as mages are considered excellent mediators in chivalric literature. It is hoped that her rule will allow Cambrea to get over its revolutionary tensions and have all Cambreans unite once again in peace and cordiality. Another detail of great significance is the date, being exactly seven hundred years after the arrival of the first Cambreans in Gran Cambrea, according to scripture. Seven is considered the most sacred number by the Cambrean church, giving this anniversary special significance, and a general mood of contentment and festivity is in the air.
Queen Marisa has declared that for this Holy Septenary, a celebration unlike any other shall be held in Vailbourg, with peasants being exempted from taxes for the year as a corresponding act of charity. This celebration, the "Exposition Universelle" shall display Cambrean ingenuity and culture in several exhibits, with entire estates being cleared to serve as exhibition halls for the year. There shall be many events for visitors to attend, such as exhibits on technology, art, the sciences, theology, weaponry, and all manner of smaller events. The Comédie-Cambréenne, Cambrea's greatest theater shall be performing the classic Cambrean plays and opera to an audience from all across the world. Indeed, the "universal" part of the name is not for nothing, as visitors from all nations of the world are invited to attend the festivities, with each exhibition being open to delegations from other countries to display their own culture and innovations.

I've written for two or three of these and now I kinda want to do a crossover but I am not sure a way to make that make sense within the lore.

I guess the easiest way would be to retcon one of them to be on the same planet as the other, though I don't know how well that would go over.

Or do a flash-forward to a Spelljammer type setting and have them be planets in the same system.

IIRC The one after Gloria Etalia had the premise of a multiveral wormhole that spewed stuff into it from other settings

All four dukes shall be present for the opening ceremony of this international event, with the palace of Valtiers and various other estates being open for foreign dignitaries to reside in. Fireworks shall occur at the opening of the festivities, with the latest machinery from the occident being displayed. Indeed, there is an oriental flavor to the ceremony, with Zhinese tea ceremonies and gardens being among the orientalist entertainment. Diplomatic talks shall be held during the festivities, with there being no better opportunity to make treaties with Cambrea than this moment, when all its diplomats and nobility are in a collective good mood. Visitors are warned to stay away from certain districts however, due to populist agitators potentially seizing the opportunity to launch high-profile attacks. One can only hope that things will proceed peacefully as planned...
Additional note on the term "Occident":
There are few historic technicalities as irritating to Cambrean academics as the constant insistence to refer to Zhin as the "occident", despite the term being Rothakian for west while Zhin is clearly in the east. The intentional misnomer stems from the Age of Hatred, where Nessan merchants discovered a path to the south east by sailing under the Gastien Jungle and into Zhin. Such a significant achievement in sailing at the time is a testament to Nessan skill, and it allowed them access to Zhinese gunpowder. Due to being imported from the west, Zhinese rockets and gunpowder was declared to be "occidental" rather than oriental, a name that has stuck in historic records despite its oddity. This issue is mostly attributed to the insistence by academics to use Rothakian when it comes to formal terminology.

The Strip

description
The strip got its name from being a very narrow but long border about 1600 km and 300 km wide. The strip is mostly plains and with some rolling hills.

Most settlement are range from small to medium village and many farms near these settlements many of these villages have their own militia its not unusual to see formal
rival solider from opposing army now working together choosing to put the past behind and starting a new.

Probably the most unique aspect of The Strip is how such narrow nation is land lock with different country's surroundings The Strip border .
How is happened was due it being a violent battlefield between Nessos and Anaxos for ownership of the strip until a treaty was called and decided to let it be its own independent country.

The treaty states
------------------------
-Neither country may claim or take land for themselves
-That each country will start a tax and use that money to support The strip
-Each country will have embassy and a representative and The Stripe will also have representative
-No nobles from Nessos and Anaxos may not buy land in The The Strip (this was added later to appease the people of the The Strip)

Ultraroyalistes - a recent group who desire the exact opposite of the Ordonannces, instead wanting more powerful dukes and a weaker nobility and church

Now the stage is set, and the actors have revealed themselves. In this tumultuous time of festivity and conspiracy, what will happen next. It's like that the events of the Exposition Universelle shall forever determine Cambrean history.
For the Exposition Universelle, which is essentially a world fair, feel free to make a brief writeup for what your nation's visitors, significant or not, are doing. For example, you could mention any treaties that were signed, what was shown at your nation's delegation, or just how some of your visitors are acting. Feel free to meddle with Cambrean politics a bit, if you'd like.

With that, I'm mostly happy with Cambrea at the moment. I tried to capture the 18th century French aesthetic as best I could. When reading its lore, is it noticeable?
Forgot there has been no map update yet, so someone should add the Republic of Southern Revia, the Kingdom of Lesser Ghuli, The Strip, and the Kingdom of Zhin onto the map.

IIRC the rule was that only a seventh son of a seventh son can use magic naturally, but magic can also be gained by contracts with demonic forces.
That is usually considered an evil thing to do, at least around the middle of the map where people are prissy, but a socially powerful enough figure might get away with it? Then it's not that restrictive.
>>
>>85878192
It is restrictive if you have a nation near in the middle of the map, where most of the developed ones are. That essentially means they have no magic.

The cities to the north of the Ghuli Desert have existed as independent states for much of their recorded history. Large coral reefs and long shoal areas have blocked much of their coast from most of the larger world. With the Ghuli to their south and a small mountain pass in the east the cites have lived in relative isolation from larger powers of Loria.

Despite the protection from outside threat, the cities waged bitter war after bitter war against each other in attempt after attempt to unify the region. However, every conquest bid would ultimately end in betrayal or revolt and the borders would largely resemble what they were before the conflict began. The populations placed great value on their identity as citizens of their city and held their independence in the highest regard.

With the news of the city of Zurhoon being taken by the Kingdom of Ghuli, and news of Majadai's conquest overseas, many of the city states, for the first time, were presented with an external threat. A grand council was held with leaders of each city state meeting to discuss what ought be done to protect themselves. However disputes over who should lead this new defensive alliance quickly sprung up and the city states of Grendi and Velin each accused the other of using this crisis as an excuse to seize power. Through a great deal of political maneuvering and subterfuge, the two city states formed separate alliances with most of the other representatives there.

The Zeshan Alliance was formed in the west and the Leishan Alliance in the east, named after the most plentiful fish in each area. Some city states valued their independence over protection, and were far from the borders of Majadai and Ghuli, and left without forming any agreements. One of these cities was Zor, which had been preparing for a conquest of the region shortly before Zurhoons capture and quickly seized the surrounding unaligned states until everything was either under the Alliance protection or their own rule.

Only problem with nessos and anaxos is that nessos doesnt share a land border with anaxos and it says the strip is landlocked so I dunno how that might work. Nessos could expand onto the continent a bit or another nation could be created more north of anaxos or another area could be selected for that to work out or the landlocked part could be omitted.

If they are based on Pan-Rothkian names they could be more like
A: Almoro (this is from first thread, not much detailed but the name stuck)
B: North cold land
C: Our Big Land, should it be something-Roth? Or is the mysthical "Roth" the Inner Ocean or the Nessian Sea?
D: Ork Island

E & F: The Far East lands? Did P-Rothians much reach those lands?
Perhaps North East Island & South East Island

Honestly would say that like the empire itself, which blew up catastrophically and its pieces are still trying to sort out the thing, the language should have splintered as well. But perhaps it split too far, and no other language is dominant, so Rothakian is still used in many religious texts and as a trade/diplomatic language? >Cargin Princedom

Named after the Cargin Mountain, a large coastal rock that was worshipped by locals in ancient times.

During the Empire, the Cargin Borderlands were the forested land beyond the official Pan-Rothkian empire borders at the [Northern Island] . Populated by scarse villages of ruthless barbarians and witches, the foggy and poor lands were not worth conquering.

Things have not much enhanced over the centuries. The coasts harboured pirates, the forests bandits. Revian Kingdom many times warred with the northern bastards, but never they could end their threat for good. Particularly the Crusade of Queen Eastam The Burner ( roughly 32 C.C ) was successful, but after her the lands were again lost to the Revians.
Then three generations ago, an particularly cunning and bloodthirsty pirate called the Smirky returned back home with blackpoweder weapons from far lands and bashed enough heads together to be elected as the High Prince of the lands. He lived a long life and died peacefully in his new castle atop the Cargin Mountain.
His daughter was an decadent fool, but managed to train her own son to become a truly magnificent arsehole. The current High Prince Aeterial is a keenly looking into the Revian Civil War with greedy eyes. The Princess declined his offer of political marriage, but Aeterial has allowed raiders cross the old borders and is expected to join the war soon, but no-one is sure will he back one of the sides or try to conquer Revia for himself. Darker rumors also exists about his newfound wealth, is he and his troops supported by some foreign entity or are the news about gold deposits actually true?

>Mergell Foothills (south of Orphan Rock)

This desolate region is home to a scattering of human and dwarven hamlets and homesteads. The people here are descendants of centuries worth of exiles from nearby nations. The land is good for little other than goat herding, growing gourds, and sometimes wheat in the better quality lands.

Like Orphan Rock to the north, it is home to many witches, who the other villagers assist when required, mostly out of fear, though some also received boons in return, or at least receive protection from the witches in return for service.

Most of the terrain is hilly grassland, with only a few scraggly trees and shrubs. The grass is typically bone dry expect during the spring. However, the valleys and mountainsides are moister, and support forests of evergreen trees.

Most folk live in crude hovels made of stone and dried grass. In areas where the witches operate openly, it is common to see crude shrines of wood, bones, painted rock, and figures of dried grass.

Most of the witches belong to one of several clans, but others are renegades or lone operators. They get their powers from pacts with various dark forces. They sometimes use black cats, ravens, wolves, or goats as their familiars.

Red, North of Black Swan Isle
The Kingdom of Ebbyrth
The ancient, mist-shrouded island realm of Ebbyrth was beyond the reach, or rather interest, of the old empire.
Unable to eke more than a meager existence out of their home island’s rocky soil, the Ebbyrthi of days past were instead master whalers, fishermen, and huntsmen. Ebbyrthi whalers are the heart of the island’s economy and have been known to range as far as the Salt Graves in the west and Czarni Czarnow in the West in their search for the whale ivory and whale oil prized by traders.
Ebbyrthi religious life is dominated by the Circle of Druids, an ancient order of shamans led by Ebbyrth’s Druid-King who pay homage to nameless gods of the sea, rivers, and forest glades and give guidance to the common people. Druids are involved in nearly every facet of Ebbyrthi life, for instance not even the bravest whaling party will leave port without the guidance of a druid. Druids hold whales in particular reverence as the best loved children of their Ebbyrth’s patron deity of the sea and use their bones in their augury to predict the weather and to tell individual fortunes. The Ebbyrthi druids attribute various mystical qualities to whale’s blood: infants are ritually bathed in it during their “second birth” ceremony, a warrior might down a cup to gain courage battle, and druids will ritually tattoo Ebbyrthi to commemorate important life events and notable feats with a dye containing whale’s blood. It is also the custom of the Ebbyrthi to wear whale bone charms carved with glyphs to bring good fortune. This practice along with the ritual tattooing of the Ebbyrthi tends to make the pale, fair-haired, and dark-eyed people stand out in foreign lands. In Ebbyrthi lore, these practices, together with the “second birth” in whale’s blood, are said to cause their nameless ocean god to recognize them as akin to its favored offspring the whales

While most druids lack magical aptitude, any child that displays such skill is taken in by the Circle so that they might pass down to them the ancient arcane knowledge of Ebbyrth.

Druids without any magical inclination are termed lesser druids whereas those with magical ability are called greater druids and act as the main functionaries in important rituals even if they are not always superior in rank. Magics outside the augury, runecraft, blood magic, and healing practiced by the Circle are viewed with deep suspicion by the Ebbyrthi

The fundamental unit of Ebbyrthi society is the clan, led by a High Chief, each counseled by a greater druid. The Druid-King will call upon the Clan Chiefs in times of war to levy their clansmen in addition to receiving annual tribute from them. Each member of a clan has their life story and that of their ancestors carved into whale bones dating back countless generations and clan loyalty is a paramount virtue in Ebbyrthi society.

A testament to the influence of the druids is that the ancient ruling clan of Ebbyrth, Clan Esgyrn, traces its lineage back to the legendary first Druid-King Morfarch who donned a crown of bronze and whalebone and united the squabbling clans under a single banner with the aid of the Circle of Druids and his own powerful magic.

The legitimacy of Clan Esgyrn has long been tied to its magical bloodline since each Druid-King is expected to act as both Ebbyrth’s temporal ruler and its high priest.

The island kingdom currently is ruled by the young Druid-King Gwylan IX under the guidance of his aunt the Princess Regent Morfilla since the recent death of Gwylan’s uncle the Druid-King Gwymon V Allwise.

While only a male of the Esgyrn clan can rule, for generations the royal succession of Ebbyrth has been limited to inheritance via the female line in order to safeguard the clan’s magical bloodline. Under this system the sons of Druid- Kings are barred from succession and the Whalebone crown instead will pass to his brother, the son of his sister, or else a cousin.
Sons of Druid-Kings still enjoy the patronage of the clan but are unable to hold positions at court andinstead tend to join the Circle of Druids or seek their fortunes as mercenaries or merchants.

This practice began after the disastrous reign of Druid-King Sarffor III the Falseborn, whose illegitimacy was apparent by his lack of any magical ability. In desperation to protect his claim Sarffor made pilgrimage to Black Swan Island and returned at the head of an army of abominations and possessing fell sorceries that allowed him to reign as a tyrant until he was deposed by his sisters at the cost of the destruction of the royal seat of Old Myrddin in an event known to history as Sarrfor’s Fall.

This unwieldy inheritance practice has led to regular civil war on the island but is nevertheless seen as a necessity by the Ebbyrthi despite its drawbacks. The current arrangement is the result of a compromise to avoid a war between the factions of Princess Regent Morfilla and her sister the Dowager Princess Wenna. The latter is kept under a comfortable house arrest so that she can have no daughters who might threaten the succession of Morfilla’s grandsons by her own daughters and in return Morfilla swore a blood oath to Gwylan.

Today the Kingdom of Ebbyrth is divided between progress and tradition, most of the latest advances in the kingdom have been imposed from the top down by the Esgyrn Clan relying on foreign imports, particularly from Cambrea, much to the growing displeasure of the Circle of Druids and Clan Chiefs. Despite this tension, the deference towards the Druid-King as the ceremonial head of the Circle of Druids has mostly blunted traditionalist opposition. Most notably the royal seat at New Myrddin has a marked Cambrean influence seen in its construction as Cambrean stonemasons and artisans were employed to build a proper castle to replace the ancient timber keep that was destroyed during Sarffor’s Fall. In general New Myrddin and its hinterlands on the southeastern peninsula of the island are the most developed whereas the rest of the island ranges from more rustic communities to tribal whaling settlements on the north coast who stick stubbornly to the old ways.

Clan Esgyrn has sponsored the limited adoption of foreign technology in recent decades such as the advent of gunpowder units and advanced shipbuilding technology. Considerable investment by the Esgyrn’s into adopting foreign advancements, funded largely by Cambrea’s demand for whale oil for industrial and lighting uses, is largely seen as a vanity project by the rest of Ebbyrth. In general the attitude of the Druid-Kings towards the use outside technology has favored quality over quantity.

Thanks Anon! Quick question: how do I add new pages to it? The only thing I see is the edit button, and I'd rather not fuck up the initial page.

>The Fools Gold Coast.

For aeons, it had been dry and desolate patch of the southern ocean coast. Sun-wracked hills and dry forests received rain extremely rarely, and in old times it was nicknamed the Cinder Coast due its frequent burned forests. People had been living there many times, but no mighty kingdoms or even dastardly mercenaries have risen from there. Most people sailed past, if even that.

But then it crashed to the world maps quickly - about two hundred years ago (approximately 320 C.C) gold was discovered in the hills and mountains. For fifty years, diggers, adventurers and armies trampled the lands. Locals either fled or were killed, the greed was too much. Never officially claimed by a nation, many founded their own ports and fortresses which in turn made the maps of the area quite complex.
As had the start been, the end was sudden as well. The gold veins weren't that plentiful than people had wished, and for the last three decades the formerly busy and dangerous towns have been turning more and more into ghost towns. Only desperate go there now, or those who wish to hide. It was also noticed that the place was a home for all kinds of lovely monsters, from gigantic crocodiles to the razor-hippoes, one of the reasons no-one had bothered with the place previously.

Henceforth noways it is called the Fools Gold Coast. Many went there, not many got out. Particularly almost no-one got rich, apart from few shipping companies... It has been whispered that the gold was a made up rumor to enhance profits of few Cambrean and other shipmasters.

Daily reminder that the faggots in this thread are still mindbroken by Gromplos and want others to write their lore for them.

It looks spectacular, dude! The only negative thing I could say is that I would prefer that the Republic of South Revia made up the entirety of the southern peninsula.

Speaking as somebody who has not taken even the slightest bit of setting research into account when making this I feel quite confident in saying this'll blow everyone away.
Skylands (and the sealands which it leaves in it's wake) is a flying anomaly in the map's central ocean. created by [REASONS UNDECIDED] which forces bodies of water inside of a large sphere of space to the outside. There are Islands that would have existed in this central ocean which have been devoured by the mobile spell and have since become sky islands. The islands are inhabited by the descendants of people who lived there once upon a time before the great spell was cast and the central body governmence who control the spell's source were once upon an apocalyptic cult but have since evolved into a central committee more concerned with the perpetuation of the skylands as a whole system by extracting sources of magical power from elsewhere in the world and using it to power the central spire's spell. They do so through a fleet of raiding and trading airships that fly out over the skywall and a network of undersea tunnels sprinkled across the coastlines of the inner sea which emerge into places were the skylands pass over at some point in the yearly cycle. If the spell fails literally everyone in the skylands and the desert herders that migrate beneath will surely die horribly.

>Thoughts?

Honestly, it's fine, except for the airship part. The gods live in the middle ocean anyways, so something more magical than usual for the setting in its center is fine.

What would music look like in Loria? I can already imagine music in the imperial successor states sounding like Byzantine music, and Nessos obviously has music from ancient Greece. Cambrea is obvious as well, same with Zhin and Great Majadai. I can't think of anything else though, since most other countries are harder to make parallels to.

A related but maybe more interesting question is: what sort of instruments do they play? Since it's a fantasy world there are probably some that don't exist on earth

Since magic is rare, maybe music could have some magical properties.
