rules are (as of right now):

>be nice
>don't fuck up other people's lore
>don't add new landmasses
>no fetishes/coomershit

Also being able to call upon leviathans does not mean they are able to control them so it's a pretty fucking dangerous thing to do in the first place. Smaller sea creatures however can be soothed , driven away or even domesticated to a certain degree. The most powerful conch magician is said to be the female prate captain Jolly Roger.

Book wine is said to come from roots that grow in the catacombs of Biblion and is made by bookimists. It is sold in special stove parlors around the Xandrilex library and is often served with beebread and buchlings. The wine has a dark brownish-red color. The taste is described as savory, heavy, earthy and woody and has a leathery aroma. It evokes a vivid hallucination in the drinker, giving him the feeling of being a tree, then a poet's idea, then the paper, the concerns of the publisher and author, and finally the drinker believes he is being made into a book and finally read. You can experience this hallucination again and again as soon as you drink a cup of this wine.

Let's start this thread with doing some trade routes. It was stated that the corrupted pale swamp ogers are sold to the witchelven empire as brothel guards aswell as the drug black milk made by the bog witch. What are this settings equivalents of the Amber Road, the Silk Road and mediterranean sea trade?

Maybe a large city within the Republic of Kalydon? I just got here tho, so I'm not sure if I'm fucking up the lore at all.
>>
So, with the physical and biome map pretty much done and the political map finally filled, we need to see what else we need to do:

-Political map with cities, nation's capitals, main roads and trade routes. Most nations and regions have little to no cities located on the map, even some of the big ones. We'd need number of cities, their location, capital if there's one, trade routes between the different powers... A city map would need to be made first before the trade one.
-An approximate general timeline of the world. Maybe a common mythology and cosmogony.
-How the flat world works: The night/day cycle, seasons, its relation with magic, how the Emptiness affects the world...
-Adding more lore to the more lacking spots. We could check the wiki for those places with very little lore.
-Filling the lore of the underground map.
Anything else we might need?
>>
>>84990739
Kalydon is suppsoed to be some kind of dystopian city ruled by a mad wizard that has a god complex, although the climate could be like that.

Maybe something in the southwest? Like the Triarchy Islands for example.
>>
>>84990685
I'm not sure where the major routes would go, but I would probably say that there's a trade route that goes either around or through the Cardammon Plateau.
>>
>>84990759
I can't find them on the map, but that sounds good to me.
>>
>>84990681
A Leviathan tried to become a god and was killed by them for its arrogance, Its rotting corpse corrupted the Ocean and created the Sea of Bile

I've been working on a detail map for the Kingdom of Tarot using the lore that the creator had. >>84858306 But it's a lot of detail with the surroundings as well so here's a WIP.

The Kingdom of Coins are supposed to be like Mountain Dwellers and Traders. Some maybe some Underground Stuff is needed?

Also what's going on with the Blackstone Prison Islands?
>>
>>84990779
We would need to combine the political map (including capital cities, trade cities and maybe production areas) with the physical map (to find easy routes to travel). So right now I would focus on writing lore for each country to make pinpointing cities easier.

An acidic ocean that was created as a result of the fluids out of the Grand Leviathans gallbladder, spleen and kidneys leaking out of their containment. They are still flowing out of the dead monsters carcass and flow to the sea surface. This part of the sea is populated by half-insect-bird hybrids and unsightly hostile fish that feed on the remains of the deceased sea giant. The sinking of the leviathan is known as The Great Fall and has permanently changed marine flora and fauna for thousands of kilometers around the body. The biomass of the remains will continue to serve as a source of food for countless marine organisms for about one thousand years from now, until finally only the huge fish bones are left. basically just imagine a whale fall but the creature is the size of a continent https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_1t4R9BzTrU&t=82s

In that case, I would probably say that the capital (or at least the major settlements) of the Witchelven Empire would be around the Widow's lakes and The Great Bonefort. Prime banana-growing area. Other small settlements would probably on the trade route between there and Schmatzsicker.

>The Oroma islands directly north of the lost isle are a nearly uninhabited chain of volcanic islands. They are the home of a fierce race of magmatic dragons that guard the island's most precious booty - a species of large blue banana that thrives on the island's rich volcanic soil. The banana is extremely poisonous and thus of great interest to the Drow which often organise expeditions to the islands to bring back the fruit, though most are unsuccessful. All attempts so far to grow the banana on foreign shores have miserably failed.

Saving monstrous sea creatures, sea travel through the coast is always cheaper than land travel, and sea travel through the ocean is also cheaper than land travel provided you can actually cross the distance (which requires XVI century technology).

A silk route would happen in these places where sea routes take longer and the terrain allows it, but in this case crossing the continent east to west on land sounds pretty impossible, thanks to the bog, the forest and the gnolls cutting it in half.

Depends on the tastes of who's buying. Historically, fatter women were seen as a sign of wealth and fertility, so smallish nobles and maybe some less advanced realms would be into that.

A massive bridge built at a mighty height, connecting the mainland and the northern continent. A full day's hike must be planned to cross it. Better bring some battle-hardened guards with you when traversing though, as the bonegnaw-harpies that reside on the neighboring razor-sharp cliffs are apt to attack merchants, travelers and soldiers alike

I'm going to add more about the Kingdom of Drunigzar.

The land of Drunigzar is flat, near barren land. The lack of big mountains and rivers combine with the low quality of the soil to make a place where agriculture is extremely difficult and laborious. The population of the land used to live off of herding sheeps and goats. However, this was not a lifestyle that allowed for big population numbers, and thus the region became infamous for being the refuge of thieves and pirates in the area. This is in fact the origin of the Kingdom of Drunigzar, since Nogar sent troops to quash this criminals, creating the Kingdom of Drunigzar as a part of their kingdom, to keep the land in check. However, the land was so barren and poor the nogarese quickly abandoned it, the costs of controlling the land being way bigger than any profit from there, so the Kingdom of Drunigzar gained its independence as a vassal estate of Nogar.
>>
>>84990685
The Azan Empire and Drow occupy what would most likely be an extremely profitable position with their command over the connecting mountain range being the closest point between north and south seas. From there, the Isle of Wizards would also vie with them over control of the sea of merchants and beyond. It isn't infeasible that either the Azan or Drow have also contemplated, or at one point did build a canal for bypassing the mountains, and Everdark Sea.
>>
>>84993646
Looks pretty good. We need a more detailed map with some cities to accurately map land routes. From this, Changrila is fabulously wealthy. Azan and Drow probably both field massive navies to protect trade ships along the southern seas. The numerous states berween Azan and Changrila would also benefit greatly from any products made up-road. I don't know what unique products they all make or own, but I'd wager Changrila to be the heart of a spice or metals trade. Alternatively, their river could allow for large food surplus to be exported to the smaller and or poorer states surrounding it. The Drow almost certainly would trade metals and minerals for what up-road states would offer.
>>
>>84993703
The first king of Drunigzar, Menelao the Old, had to deal with the constant infighting between his knights and noble vassals, pursuing lands and riches at the expense of their equals. The wise king managed to keep the damages to a minimum using his charisma and his ties to Nogar, but this state of affairs lasted for many centuries. The drunig kings slowly but surely strengthen their ties with the artisan and fisher cities, obtaining a relatively rich ally to keep their knights in line.

This situation all changed with the arrival of King Paoulos II the Shipbuilder. During his reign, piracy had grown at an intollerable rate, with many raids to coastal cities and towns. With nogarese help decreasing year over year, Paoulos decided to create his own fleet, buying old military ships of the neighbouring kingdoms and beyond. After driving the pirates away, the kingdom had becomed quite indebted, facing a catastrophic bankrupcy that would have sunken the kingdom, if not for Paoulos' plan. He took his new fleet, plus any pirate ships captured by the drunig army, and in collaboration with the artisan cities, organised massive campaigns of exploration and trade. In the hopes of finding resources, any kind of resources that could save the kindom, and ordered his men to obtain as much profit as possible, no matter the product, no matter the client. After a decade, this campaign not only had managed to pay the dept, but also obtain quite a decent profit. Seeing this, Paolo ordered the construction of a massive merchant fleet, and also the creation of a trade company owned by the crown. This trade company hired as many merchants, explorers and other experts to prepare the commercial expansion of the kingdom. However, many historians agree that this project would have been a lost cause if the Kingdom of Nogar, the biggest commercial power of the region, hadn't suddenly collapsed due to the gnoll invasion.
>>
>>84993928
This not only brought many experts to to Drunigzar, selling their talents for protection against the gnoll, but the momentary collapse of Nogar allowed drunig traders and merchants to take the place of the old nogarese merchant houses. Many of those houses, seeing where the winds were blowing, moved to the safety of Drunigzar, whose arid lands was so unvaluable not even the gnolls seemed to be interested in taking it. This all resulted in an explosive economic growth, with the old herder population becoming clever and cunning merchants and traders, leaving no market untapped.

This wave of prosperity also caused an important problem. In a couple of years, the population growth became unsustainable, since teven with the increasing size of the merchant navy, there simply was no way to absorb all the new population. This was partially solved by expanding southwards, occupying the lands of Old Nogar where the old fortresses against pirates and raiders were located. Not being enough, however, the king Paoulos III the Explorer ordered the creation of colonies along the coast, enough to absorb the population, but not big enough to cause diplonatic tension with the neighbour kingdoms, since a territorial expansion may have ended in a war against Drunigzar. The colonies continued the economic expansion of Drunigzar, their small size compensated by the protection of the Drunigzar navy and money loaners.
>>
>>84993923
I'd say that the northern seas would have the same general idea. The Tesia Isthmus would probably get super wealthy from all the trade from the treasure seas going to the south. In the north, all the states that would be between the Isle of Wizards and the Platinum Princedom would probably get the same treatment as the ones between Azan and Changrila.

Kinda like this:
>>
>>84994061
Nowadays, the Kingdom of Drunigzar has established trade routes and pacts with every major power in the world, though many of them distrust the drunig merchants' lack of scruples in regards to business. In particular, they have very strong relations with New Nogar, the Gnoll Empire and the Woodcutter Cities of Littlestep.

Drunigzar's relations with Nogar are difficult, since it's clear for everyone involved that Drunigzar, and old vassal of Nogar, has benefited immensly by Nogar's misfortune, and that has caused a lot of resentment in many nogarese (especially towards many of old nogarese that fled to Drunigzar, seen as traitors and oportunists for not defending their homes). However, many in New Nogar also see Drunigzar as an invaluable ally in case of a gnoll invasion, or even a good patron in case of wanting to recapture the Old Nogar lands. The drunigs' ambassadors and trader houses, in turn, see in Nogar a valuable trading partner, and also a big ally in case of a gnoll attack. That doesn't stop many to prepare to help both sides in case of a war between Nogar and the Gnoll Empire, since war is an incredibly profitable market.

Drunigzar's relation with the Gnoll Empire are even simpler. The Gnoll Empire could easily conquer Drunigzar, dwarfing the merchant state's population, but drunigs' ambassadors and traders have convinced the higher echelons of the Empire that it's better for both sides to stay independent, basically paying for protection through great deals on materials scarce in the Empire. Drunig also hires a lot of gnoll mercenaries as footsoldiers and mercenaries to fight bandits and pirates, but never in enough numbers to be unmanageable.

Drunigzar's relations with the Woodcutter Cities of Littlestep depend on their main product: Oak wood. Drunigzar's land has little to no trees, definitvely not enough to mantain the massive fleets of the kingdom, so they will go to great lengths to stay in good standings with the woodcutter cities.
>>
>>84994199
Drunigzar's society has changed a lot thanks to this new way of life. Before this commercial evolution, drunigs venerate a plethora of human gods, but nowadays they mainly focus on three: the God of the Sea and the Twin Goddesses of Fortune and Misfortune. Drunigs need the sea to expand, or even just survive, since they need to import quite a lot of food, now that the population is bigger that what the lands can really sustain. Merchants in particular will pray to the Twin Goddesses of Fortune and Misfortune, both to wish for good luck in their endeavours and to wish for bad luck to their competition.

>>

Historically, the area of land known as "Grob" (Literally meaning "shit" in the ancient tongue of the first tribesmen who settled there) was completely useless. It is commonly believed that before the Grand Leviathan died at the hands of the gods, it shit itself, and it's droppings completely destroyed any form of ancient settlement or civilization in the area, save for a few who survived. Historians have absolutely no clue how anyone, human or not, could have survived, apart from a single myth, passed down through word of mouth for millennia, titled: The Fall. (Note: the translations are rough at best, and we've almost certainly missed a few details, but they probably weren't that important.) "And so, we climbed upwards, past that ancient stone, burst forth from the shit, and were borne again". This is clearly the ancient tribal's creation myth, though no gods (as far as we can tell) are mentioned whatsoever.

The Merfolk post said that the Grobianismus was once a part of the Merfolk Empire but when the Merfolk God Uun grew bored or displeased he cursed all his subjects and that's how they ended up the way they were
>>
>>84994973
Eventually, the tribals adjusted to their strange life, and build large and surprisingly advanced castles and forts, though since nobody wanted to conquer them (for obvious reasons) their castle-cities were very open, with many holes that they probably used as windows. Most of them were probably build using magic anyway.
However, this was not to last. Eventually, these massive castles began to crumble over the years, in favor of simpler, smaller structures such as mud huts. This made it incredibly easy for them to be conquered later on by an exiled heir of the eight castles. (Also sorry for putting OP as my name earlier, I'm also running a sequel thread for the Primarch Rolling Tables)

>>84995100
To most people, yes, you heard me say eight castles, despite there being only seven in the barony today. I say eight because, technically speaking, Grobianismus is part of the seven baronies. Apparently there used to be an overly cruel yet intelligent eighth baron that resided on the very edge of the eight baronies. The war that removed him was the only time we know of that all the other barons were allied. (Yes, I read the Wiki. No I have not seen any mention of the seven baronies yet on the all page)
>>

>>84995564
I have absolutely no clue how often it happens. Also, hi OP! Sorry about kinda stealing your title for a few times.
>>
>>84995533
However, his royal court escaped, and with a well-planned explosive trap, his enemies' armies were defeated, and the seven baronies went back to squabbling.
The intelligent and cruel baron, despite not having much of an army, had the wisdom and technical know-how to nearly wipe out the local tribals and made them submit before his glory.
In the years following, many of his new tribal slaves died building his castle, an impressive construct of stone and steel that rivalled any within the seven baronies. The ex-baron, now king of the newly christened kingdom of Grobianismus, focused on keeping his new holdings a secret by engineering a false myth about Grobianismus being part of the Merfolk Empire in days long ago, and how it was struck down by the Merfolk god Uun who cursed the very soil itself.
>>
>>84990296
I once wrote out this idea for a petty king. He's a lich who runs his land using blight to help rotate his crops and denizens. Lets his citizens be as degenerate as possible because once they become hyper degenerate scum the blight takes over and turns them into his undead army. Its like a clock, and the blight is on the hour hand. Where the hour hand has passed over recently is (un)dead, and behind that are the most conservative/traditional people. Then as you get closer to where the hour hand will be, the people get more degenerate.
I'm not sure if I'll ever run this idea, but if you guys think it would be a good fit for the setting and want me to go more in depth about it, I would love to. At the very least I want to get my idea out there if I never get to run it.
>>

As for the undead army, they aren't entirely military. Much of them actually make up the majority of the agricultural force so his people can enjoy other pursuits.
The main sticker is that he has implemented this cyclical undeath because people naturally gravitate towards degeneracy over generations, and his people were under threat of being destroyed this way. So he turns to lichdom so he can be the fair ruler who ensures prosperity for eternity. He's concerned with keeping the people happy, and they are happy despite meeting an unlife that's as disgusting as the life they lived. Incredibly laissez-faire, despite the fact that practically everyone is doomed to be conscripted into the undead labor force at one point or another, through a cruel incurable disease.
>>
>>84995733
Eventually, the baron-turned-king died, but he made sure to leave his knowlege to his heirs within a massive library in the castle. There are of course rumors of a massive secret within the library, a passage which goes down for miles beneath the ground. However, this is most likely hearsay, and thus, completely useless information.
The discoveries of the first Grobanian king are far more fascinating anyway, like how he discovered that the ground up blood and bones of his tribal slaves, when mixed with the shit that made up the ground, became one of the most rich and fertile composts known worldwide (which explains how Grobianismus is the leading exporter of manure, and why the soil closest to the capital is the most rich and fertile in all the world.)

Now to discuss the leaders of Grobianismus. The leaders are, of course, the royal family of Grobian (their true names have been wiped away from the annals of history). Due to the massive abundance of crops within the capital's walls, the royal family is beyond a healthy weight. They do, of course, have the same cruelty as their shared ancestor, and they constantly send out knights to rejuvenate the soil so that it becomes even better to grow crops in. The royal family has excellent genes, which is why they consistently live over a hundred years old, while still keeping the glow and beauty of youth of someone sixty years younger. There are, of course, rumors surrounding them. That they are so plump that they cannot move, and occasionally so ravenous that they eat their own servants in a single bite. I can assure you that is simply the rumor mill of lesser men. Those that serve the royal family, the knights, are one of the best specimens of humanity I have ever seen. Standing over six feet tall, bulging with muscle and beauty of otherworldly proportions, and they can kill a man with their bare hands. Ripping him into shreds like an animal...a very well behaved and glorious protector indeed!
And of course, we have to discuss the peasants. They are the descendants of the conquered tribals, and other than that, I have nothing to say about them.

Having managed to abandon poverty to becoming one of the wealthiests nations in the area is something that all drunigs enjoy as their national pride. This results in a surprisingly low amount of social fricction for a society as competitive. Traders will compete with each other to see whose's going to be more successful in the same gentlemanly way old knights may have duel with each other, and the same goes for other levels of society. They will also protect their national interests, helping to subtlilly drive away non-drunig competition whenever the chance appears, to keep drunig monopolies around.

Many of the noble houses of Drunigzar also double as trading companies, with the royal trading company being the biggest and most important of them all. It has become a common custom to see them adopting into their houses plebians that show a particular talent for business. This tradition dates back to the early days of the commercial expansion, when the noble houses needed desperately experienced manpower to handle the king's expeditions. The adopted plebian will be educated and treated as a nobleborn, and in exchange they will have to give a portion of their earnings for the rest of their life to the noble house's trading company. This causes the nobleborn of outside of Drunigzar to use the term "drunig nobility" as a term to describe something fake accepted for convenience's sake.
>>
>>84996389
The quick population growth has caused many problems to Drunigzar. Most of the land from the inner parts of the country has been neary abandoned, with very few herder groups and small towns left to live as they use to. All that population who moved to the coastal cities created outpaced the cities' ability to manage it, causing high crime rates in the poorest areas. The land borders of the country have also lost a lot of population, which scares the kingdom's politicians due to the weakening of the borders' strength. The crown has tried to compensate this by creating state funded incentives to settle down in the border, but the attraction of the sea life limits its success.

Now that I get to thinking about it, let me submit this for your approval.
Each island follows it's own cycles, orchestrated by a central cathedral of skeleton-priests. Okhost seems pretty hostile, since it only has one public port. As a defense mechanism, the outside of the islands are permanently blighted and toxic. The only somewhat-arable land is closer towards the center. As the Skeleton-Priests have been extending their reach and power, so has the amount of land they sacrifice to blight and poison. Over the ages the overall land quality has been declining from the ever encroaching undead powers and abuse of the natural cycle. Forbidden lore speaks of a time when generations could be spared from being exposed to the crude corrupting oil of unlife. But in our era the cycle is being pushed to it's extreme, and the patches of permanent blight once benignly used for defense are seeping ever deeper, forming a thick toxic ring around each island. Its unknown when the spread began, if it was accidental, or if this was planned from the beginning. The untainted land remaining, as well as it's quality and remaining living population varies between the islands. Though at this point most islands have very little civilian population remaining.
Pictured is an old scholar's graph of Okhost's westernmost island. The gradient of purple represents the plague, in yellow is untainted land, at the center is the cathedral in black and red stripe. The gray is the "Edge of Despair" that revolves counter-clockwise around the island (which was meant to be clockwise, but I fucked up the drawing) which absolves the plague, leaving the land behind relatively usable. Notice how the quality has reduced over time, as well as the plague spreading.

> The Great Olympiad
Every leap-year the Gnolls organize an event only known as the Great Olympiad, a leftover of the conquered Khenomeric Empire. It is said that in ancient times before the Khenomeric people even united the warring states would stop all war and would instead compete via various contests f individual prowace. The Gnolls thought it was fun so they kept going.

Each major tribe sends it's own athletes, but so do the various Gnoll subjects like: Setlovian Tribes, Ketlovians and the Dragongod.

Then their allies send delegations. The Peacock, Manskin and Swampogres arrive from far away lands lured in by the promise of feasts and a good fight while the Okhostian Necromancers merely use this opportunity to try out the combat potential of their newest undead.

Lastly come those who were not asked if they want to attend... slaves from unwilling neighbours such as the Cowmen, Tenzin, Ra'ga, Kinga, Bhakkari and Frogfolk are organized into 'teams' representing their nations with full pretense held up that they are there willingly and as full combatants.

The Olympyad is a mockery of a sporting event. All events allow for attacking and killing each other so barely any event is carried out as intended. A sprint? How about mid-run one gets mad and bites the leg of another a brawl ensues and a few badly maimed contestants are left attempting to crawl to the finish line. Either way knolls greatly look forward to the display as it's really entertaining and parts of looser participants are handed out as food to the on-lookers.

While most contests are a mockery of ancient Khenomeric ones like wrestling, sprinting, chariot racing, magic archery, spear throwing, marathon running, a sport akin to aztek soccer and swimming others have been added later by the Gnolls.

Such a necromancer battle-command, an eating contest, a chain climbing competition (trick used to make people train for wars with the Dragongod), and arrow dodging.
>>
>>84996668
That last one frankly being only for the entertainment of the Emperor who finds it enjoyable to be firing arrows into the crowd to see who can dodge the longest. A little fun never hurt anyone right?

Few participants in the events ever make it out alive so there is no individual prizes instead for each win points are assigned to the winner's team be it tribe or country. And the top 3 with the highest points at the end are given a gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.

Gold may demand any wish from from the Emperor and it shall be granted.

Silver may demand land be handed over from their neighbours as enforced by the emperor a deal he indeed upheld when the Frogfolk representation took 2nd place once giving away land from the empire itself.

Bronze may demand a single artifact from the lower treasury of the Emperor.

The event itself was considered an important first step by the Emperor to establish relations with foreign nations however clumsy they are for in many ways the Great Olympiad only exemplifies the cruel, brutal and uncontrollable nature of the Gnolls.

Seeing as the quality of the land has been reduced over time, it can reasonably be assumed that the EoD's potency has reduced over time as the priests have been extending the blight. If it's true that the EoD's influence is waning, that means that the strained unnatural balance Okhost relies on to survive is being threatened. This would certainly put a lot of pressure on Vandervax to find a solution. Perhaps he plans to summon the Grand Leviathan in some sort of demented plan to alter the balance back in his favor. Whether it be out of world dominational delusions, or out of desperate damage control; he is very intent on bringing back the terrible beast.

What Litches are there overall?

Vandervax the ruler of Okhost is a litch and I presume the most powerful one there. The Gnoll Emperor is also a Litch and only one in the Gnoll Empire.

I imagine Okhost should have at 10 Litches maybe? Mossovoy should also have some Litches.

Should the Isle of Wizards have Litches? What is their attitude towards black magic?

>rules of magic
We never really established sokid magic rules. How does the magic system work? Does anyone have the potential to become a wizard, or only gifted people can? Do they need special relation to gods and spirits, or their powers come from within? Are different kinds of magic, or it's just how you use it?
>>
>>84996903

>>84996946
I would imagine that there would be at least one lich overseeing the necrotic cycle of each island. There are 7 islands, one of which would probably require two separate cycles because of how large it is. That would be 8 Liches constantly attending the cycle, add 1 lieutenant for Vandervax, that would round it out to 10 in total for Okhost.

Draconic Gnolls

These are the two 'races' born from the flesh of the Dragongod King in the 4th war and now serve hi mexclusivelly.
>>
>>84996983
So the Skeleton Priests are in fact liches?
>>
>>84997012
probably a good idea would be weird if the Isle of necromancers had the same amount of litches as the Gnolls, but the Emperor was a lich since thread 3 so would be bit dickish to retcon it.
>>
>>84997012
I don't want to inundate the setting with liches, but neither would they. I think the term "Skeleton Priest" was more or less manufactured to hide that they have phylacteries. And if at any point any Priest died and was "replaced", it was actually just the lich reclaiming his title once he reformed. I would keep the fact that the 9 Priests are liches an occult secret.
>>
>>84996567
The old drunig knights are not happy with the new order of things, since the new way of life is nearly antithetical to theirs. The old ways of controlling the land and protecting the peasantry in exchange of protections and other fees goes right out the window then the countries' fortunes come from the sea. Many knight decided to take this changes in stride and form part of the militar outposts at the borders of the kingdom, but many others have joined pirate groups, and even abandoned Drunigzar altogether as mercenaries. This wayward knights are loathed by the entirety of drunig society, seen as both traitors and criminals, abandoning their bows to the kingdom once they no longer afforded them the same measure of power and influence as before.
>>
>>84997050
Do we have some magical counterpart to the liches? Maybe life priests of some sort, specialised on helping the undead go to the other side?
>>
>>84997150
This is my first time in the thread, I've only begun reading the wiki. So I don't exactly know if we have anything like that already, but we could certainly come up with something. Maybe we could play off of how Lich Phylacteries are based off of prayer boxes.
>>
>>84997185
>>84997150
Yeah hold on. What if Vandervax the Virtuous had these Nega-Lich Life priests in his kingdom. When he decided to make his final sacrifice to his people and became the lich we know today, the priests followed suit, trapping their souls in their old prayer boxes: becoming phylacteries in both forms of the word.
Or perhaps they never actually turned undead, and channel raw divine power to keep the cycle running-- hence why the Edge of Dread is able to cleanse the undead blight.
If we go with the later option, the name "Skeleton Priest" doesn't mean a priest that is a skeleton, but instead someone who is performing their most barebones core job as a priest, cleansing the unclean. Or perhaps we strike somewhere in the middle and it takes on both meanings.
>>
>>84997150
The Avangar have their flame priests I guess. Otherwise not really, changrila was Lawful Good so we might give them Holy Monks or something or immortal wuxia cultivators.

My headcanon is that very few people are born with magical affinity, known ones from the Lore are Avangar and some Aine Saevherne wizard. Think of them as child prodigies, able to learn magic extremely quickly.

However magic can also be taught by other wizards, but mostly by institutes. Known ones are in Avangar (dark arts mostly), Arangea (Pyromancy and Alchemy), Isle of Wizards (I assume) and probably the Citadel of Hithlone.

If I were to assume, most sorcery institutions aren't just open to anyone learning magic. It's either the extremely rich (corrupt institutions) or people with already some hints of genetical affinity towards magic. Magic is a powerful tool, after all, you wouldn't want to teach everyone that.

>>
>>84997683
allowing new landmasses begs for the setting to never be finished or have any meaningful progress done, as everyone's more interested in adding new nations than expanding on lore or creating maps/content. Also, adding new landmasses undermines the work that's already done. Just look at the previous /tg/ setting, where there are continents twice as big as the original landmasses, it's stupid.

These threads almost died when this arguement came up around thread 3 so we universally agreed on no more continents.

I updated the Gnoll, Avangar and Drunigzar lores into the wiki, I'm honestly confused at which version of the Grobianismus origin is "canon" and about the Okhost lore, so I'm gonna let you decide on that and add it to the wiki.
>>
>>84997863
sounds good enough to me. Where does the magic come from then? is it something esoteric (gods, spirits, feeling, etc.) or maybe something more physical (air particles/nanobots, the "weave" etc.)?

>>84997891
alright, that clears alot up actually, thanks anon.
>>
>>84997902
I'd just let it be ambiguous, no need to expand on that. But it could very well be that unless said magical person "unlocked" his magic potential, he could go on his entire life without even knowing he possesed the power of the arcane.

Honestly, I really like fantasy settings where magic and wizards are rare and not like the Elder Scrolls, where mages are more common than regular fighters. It undermines mage characters and makes them less important/special.

Current lore for Okhost states

>Okhost is primarily uninhabited. Zombies and other reanimated organisms plow the poor fields and labour in the meagre mines that dot the land, while foreign vessels are limited to the one usable port across the entirety of the skeleton-priests' dominion. The skeleton-priests maintain exceedingly low taxes (flat 0.5%), thereby stimulating investment from pro-necromantic powers like the gnolls, but the apparatus is highly centralized, with all funds flowing to a common pool which is then used to purchase foreign luxuries.

Maybe you could connect those.

Here's the OG Grobianismus post for reference since people seem to kinda overlook it when adding lore
>The Medieval Mudcore Kingdom is located to the relative east of the continent. Everything stinks is soacked in a muddy green-brownish color palette and people are farting, shitting and raping everywhere. From this place the black plague originated which is just like the irl plague but the suffering takes three times as long and is considerably more painful. There's also a comically evil Inquisition that burns everyone at the stake for even the slightest suspicion of being a witch which can be everything from having sex before marriage, having red hair or being called a witch by literally anyone. Everyone has really bad manners and behaves like described in the lyrical style of medieval Grobianismus known from works like the Narrenschiff. Nobody bathes, Horses can't enter towns because the mud is knee deep on a good day, pigs are everywhere, the average lifespan is 30 years and everyone who isn't a peasant fucks their relatives to keep the bloodline pure. The peasants just do it for fun. The favorite weapon is the flail and people keep coming up with ridicolously elaborate torture devices which is pretty much the only innovation coming from there. There's a weird psychoanalytical fixation on excrement going on and the humor, art and poetry from this nation are nothing but fart jokes. People are scared as shit to go to hell but for some strange reason they just seem to do everything they can to go there after death despite comitting suicide. Everyone except the caricaturesque noblemen who are ugly as sin and wipe their asses with how much gold they have, is really fucking poor, miserable and basically a slave. Think Pasolini's most abysmal scat fantasy crossed with the Peasants from Monty Python's holy grail.

The Oligarchic Republic of Hithlone lies in the island of Terpsythea, with Hithlone being its largest and most important city.

>History

Terpsythea was first inhabited by a group of humans fleeing to the south, being slaves in the Drow (Western Elf) Empire. They founded the canal city of Hithlone on the delta of the Fulenn river.

Thank to its location, Hithlone quickly became a prosperous city, trading with much of the western coast of Giantstep. However, after a series of wars, they were once again conquered by the Drow. Under their yoke they suffered for almost 20 years, until a series of internal political strifes cause the Drow Confederacy to split into multiple city-states, an opportunity many of the human city-states of the south used to gain their independence, Hithlone included.

>Government

The Republic is ruled from Hithlone, under a council of the city's wealthiest merchants and influential nobles. The laws of Hithlone are very lax concerning trade, so many foreign merchants have set up their businesses in Hithlone.

>Economy

The main export of Hithlone are colourful dyes (who cannot compare of those from the Triarchy, however), silk, pearls and wine produced from the vineyards towards the centre of Terspythea. Being their most produced product, the "Terpsythea Gold" - as their wine is called - is perhaps the most sought out wine in the West. Hithlone also trades with Azhar Nar, Azan and Furlaniya for steel and mercenaries, the Triarchy and Moreelse for slaves, as well as Blesire, mostly for wool and oils.

>Culture

Hithloneans place a great importance on arts and music. Bards from Hithlone are known all over the courts of the West, playing a unique nine-stringed instrument by strumming its chords. Hithlone also holds one of the biggest art galleries in the world, with many Hithlonean artists painting the most most famous paintings in Azan and Changri-La.

See I just called you a random guy and you already sperg. That's why you don't get to have this kind of power over the lore. The canon hierarchy goes Map > Threads > Wiki
>>
>>85001012
Yes I "sperg" because I've written down everything that everyone has written since (and before) the original OP left while you're a newfag who tries to dictate what's canon and what's not.

I'm not a dictator, the wiki is open for editing by anyone. If you think I'm doing a bad job you're more than welcome to fill in the gaps instead of expecting people to read 10+ archived threads.

Also I'm still waiting of you to mention what's the stuff that I made that I allowed.
>>
>>85001061
>newfag
based on what exactly do you make this assumption?
>Yes I "sperg"

>I'm not a dictator
yet you decide to add certain things and not add other things by the mere authority of having made the wiki. I'm not saying you shouldn't btw I'm just saying that this makes you a subjective censor while the og threads are the objective unfiltered and raw lore.
>the wiki is open for editing by anyone
and it should be very easy to see why that might eventually become a problem.

Don't take this as a personal offense pal and honestly thanks for putting so much effort into this project but the archived threads and the map should be trumping the wiki when it comes to what's canon since changing the wiki is very easy to do and carries the risk of a not insignificant arbitrariness while archived threads can't be changed and everyone can understand the order of the loredumps by visiting the archieve. The wiki is a great ressource but for the reasons I mentioned it's just that. A quick way to read up on a nation or other lore without claim to correctness or completeness
>>
>>85001321
Okay, I might have sounded aggressive but that's part of the frustration coming out. The only parts that I've edited out or in (without consulting the thread first) are stuff that I myself has written so I didn't feel the need to inform the thread about me changing the name of a character I came up with, for example.

I'm not saying the wiki predates the threads by any means, but a lot of the "objective unfiltered raw lore" condradict each other and this becomes hard even for me to censor since there are over 200 nations.

One example is that of the Merfolk Empire and Grobianismus. Even if the latter's lore condradicts the former's about Grobianismus being a place cursed by the god Uun, the former still has added lore for the Seven Castle Barons (which doesn't condradict anything) so I'm in kind of a tough place. If I decide to add one part of the lore but not the other, people get mad. If I don't add anything, whoever wrote those won't do it himself and his lore will (likely) be lost in the archives.
>>
>>85001349
>The only parts that I've edited out or in (without consulting the thread first) are stuff that I myself has written so I didn't feel the need to inform the thread about me changing the name of a character I came up with, for example.

To follow on this, as you can tell by my name I'm currently writing lore on Hithlone. I may decide in the future that one of the deities' names sounds silly or dumb, so I might change that in the wiki. That might sound like a retcon or an arbitrary change by me since you don't know what I've written or not. Although there's an option in the wiki to note what I've changed and why, it often slips past you when you edit 200+ pages.
