Whether it be reaction pics, funny pics, cursed pics, filename pics, random pics, post whatever you have. The point is to make an interesting setting based on them. You can also take a pic that has been previously posted and edit it if it's OK with everyone. Just post something and add a bit of fluff to it, then let the magic do the rest!

>Second Empire (Post-Timeskip)

>History
Now in existence for several centuries, the Second Empire continues its eternal struggle to rebuilt the Eldrian Empire. In some ways, it has already succeeded. During the past century, it has bribed and bullied a number of independent states and regions into its control, and now rules much of the territory once ruled by the Eldrian Empire. Likewise, the increasing power and frequency of magic users has allowed it to reintroduce many of the widespread magical creations used at the time of the Eldrian Empire.

In recent times, the Second Empire has initiated a series of minor border wars to further expand its territory into regions once held by the Eldrian Empire. In Aesanaeria, there are frequent skirmishes with the Nantic Alliance over oil fields and gold mines. In the Rust Desert and the Northern Wastes there is increasing conflict with the forces of Yr as both sides seek to grab as much territory as possible before fortified borders are formed. Along the Iron Crown, there are occasional skirmishes with the Union as both sides contest gates and valley that could one day be used as invasion launch points. In the Bridge Islands, naval raids are used to slow colonization by the Nantic Alliance and provide access to expeditions seeking to loot the ancient temples and fortresses here, some of which contain powerful magical artifacts that have recently reactivated for unknown reasons. And in Flickfowl and the Emerald Isles, the Second Empire defends itself from the interests of the Nantic Alliance, the Puppet Clans, and Miqdaad, while simultaneously raiding old tombs and temples in territories claimed by other nations.

>Membership

The Second Empire is still a dictatorship where Emperors are elected for life by the Governors of each city state and province. The number of cities and provinces now numbers in the low hundreds, but many people divide them into fifteen regions based on unique cultural differences.

Wizard Coast: This stretch of quiet coastal towns dominated by powerful magic users would easily fit into the heartland regions, but retains a certain amount of prickly independence, mostly due to its distance from the heart of the Empire, and the (relatively) progressive beliefs of the local elite. However, this region joined the Empire more or less willingly, and the Emperor generally allows them to run their own affairs. Still home to some of the best alchemists in the world.

Sneed: An often overlooked agricultural region, Sneed has Eldrian roots, but developed their own unique religion and magical practices following the fall of the Eldrian Empire. Sneed joined the Empire after a group known as the Neo-Confederates undermined military preparation efforts. Sneed is ruled with a relatively light hand, and although some inhabitants mourn the loss of their independence, others accept that they got a pretty good deal and are well treated within the Empire.

Taur Tribes: The Taurs remain politically and economically backward. The provinces of this region are ruled out of trade towns and forts populated primarily with humans while the Taurs mostly continue their primitive ways of life, though some make good money as laborers, shock troops, and mercenaries.

South Aesanaeria: A recent acquisition of the Empire, it is still under military governance as many local tribes remain hostile. State owned companies operate many oil wells and gold mines in this region, and conflicts with the northern territories held by the Nantic Alliance are not uncommon.

Luver: Like the Wizard Coast, this region has much in common with the Imperial Heartlands, but is geographically remote. Luver has a long history of using Oath Magic to maintain its feudal-ish system of government, but improvements in the technique have also led to its widespread use in other parts of the Empire.

Anders City: An unusually dark and heartless city state, even by Imperial standards, Anders City is home to the cult of the “God of the City” to whom sacrifices are made in exchange for further magical knowledge. “Spirit magic”, the art of summoning pseudo-spirits to do your bidding, is popular here, but other types of magic are catching on as well.

Brazilistan: The dwarfs of Brazilistan have a long history of resisting both the Eldrian Empire, and later the Second Empire, and as a result, they don’t benefit from the Second Empire’s unusual tolerance for cultures that were once subjects to the Eldrian Empire. Brazilistan was taken over via a series of invasions and forced surrenders that took place several decades ago. Since then, the Empire has used forced deportations and outside immigration to greatly decrease the dwarven population of this region, though it is still the center of their culture, and the site of frequent resistance movements.

Ogre Land: The primitive ogre clans of “Ogre Land” and other remote regions are a popular source of slave labor for the Empire. “Ogre Land” has its own (human) Governor, but mostly because a significant naval base is located on the tip of this peninsula.

Unraveler Territory: Long time members of the Second Empire, the Unravelers remain a force unto themselves. Many of the Empire’s best experimental fleshmolders, demonbinders, and dark aether theorists live and operate in this region, free from the Empire’s already minimal restrictions on the use of magic.
>>
>>79825998

San’Barg: A long time de facto territory of the Empire, San’Barg was recently given its own Governor elected by the common folk in hopes of building up good will among San’Barg’s distant kin in the Bridge Islands. However, the swamps and sandbars of this region remain sparsely inhabited and under developed.

The Core Region: Home to the Empire’s oldest and most powerful member cities and provinces, this region is widely seen as the heart of the Empire. In the past century, many of the hazards left behind during the collapse of the Eldrian Empire have been fixed, and cities and farmland have both expanded greatly, though some hazards remain, and some new ones have been added.

Alana: This empty, dry, region of grassland is still home to the rightly feared mystics of the Theocracy of Alana. Although the inhabitants of this region have never openly opposed the Empire, soldiers and merchants travelling through this region frequently go missing. However, the elites of the Empire consider these to be acceptable losses, as the mystics knowledge of old Eldrian magic has few equals.

Pumkin: Excessive bribes and veiled threats allowed the Second Empire to claim this area many decades ago, but the inhabitants are wild and unpredictable allies at best, prone to sudden cruel assaults even on their own allies. Some are also sympathetic to the cause of the elves.

Kornheiseria: One of the most diverse areas of the Empire, its rulers were bribed to join one city or province at a time until full control was secured. They are often seen as country bumpkins by the core regions of the Empire, but in fact they are a important and wealthy agricultural and industrial region even if the use of magic here is below average. Kornheiserians are a common sight in the Golden Legion, perhaps because living conditions are better here for common folk than many parts of the Empire, or perhaps because of the long tradition of militia service among the common folk.

Rust Desert: This area remains almost uninhabited aside from scattered tribes, raiders, and necromantic cults. Soldier of the Empire have been grudgingly crossing this region in recent years in order to try and establish a foothold in the Northern Wastes. Others instead travel east where fighting is taking place in the Iron Crown. Unexplained disappearances among those who travel through this region are common.

The Flickfowl Colonies: Despite the name, the Flickfowl Colonies are some of the oldest and most established of the Empire’s city states and provinces. Worship of Glyce and Gogotha have made somewhat of a comeback here, contributing to this area’s reputation for being both dangerous and decadent.

Duckers: Long time members of the Second Empire, they claim to be cursed descendants of an old Eldrian Empire colony, though records from the Eldrian Collapse are unclear on the matter. Unpleasant to be around, and possessing no real noteworthy resources, they are a loyal, but non-essential member of the Empire.

>Technology and Magic:

Although the Second Empire has access to a wide range of technology, they place much more importance on magic, seeing mass produced goods as worthy only of use by the lower classes and conventional soldiers. Factories are rarer here than in the Nantic Alliance, and often run as an afterthought by government institutions and nobility more interested in magic. Goods are generally solid, durable, and simple to use, but also often incorporate the unique aesthetics favored by whoever owns the factory.

Magic is more powerful and flexible than ever before, with magical researchers constantly finding new uses for southern magical traditions like alchemy, oath magic, life magic, and dark aether manipulation. The use of non-southern magical traditions has also become common thanks to the influence of the Unravelers.

Magic goods, whether civilian or military are major status symbols for nobles and other elites, and many officers and elite formations favor magical gear over mass produced equipment.

>Military

The military of the Empire is incredibly diverse, with formations of poorly equipped conscripts from the coastal cities and farms marching alongside rangers from the grasslands in their wide brimmed hats, elite knights in magical gear, barbaric auxiliaries from the Taur and Pumkin tribes, crude but powerful tanks, and the foul creations of the Unravelers. The army is still known as the Golden Legion despite usually wearing black, while the navy is still known as the Black Fleet despite usually wearing dark blue with gold colored trim.

Reminds me, wasn't the ruler of the Rust Desert a former Eldrian prince? What would he think about the Second Empire, given that they're intending to succeed the Eldrians?

Hard to say, not sure if that anon is even around anymore

Could go either way really

He could see them as worthy successors, and join the Unravelers, some of whom also have been around since before the collapse

Or he could deem them unworthy successors, and plot their downfall so that a more worthy successor, likely himself, can take their place

So I did the high level overviews for the post-timeskip Nantic Alliance and Second Empire, what other areas do people want me to write for next?

I could do more detailed stuff on one of the nations I already covered, or I could do other nations or areas.
>>
>>79834694
Maybe the Union? It was never specified what the 7 nations that formed it were, and they seem to be a mix of Chinese dynasties and Slavic nations in nature. Good bit of room to work from.
>>
>>79834894
Sounds good, I have had some ideas for them in the past I never used.

Will probably focus on post-timeskip situation, but also include some history and cultural stuff applicable to the core time period as well

>Rogue Queen Rathi-lio

Queen Rathi-lio is the ruler of the newly founded Queendom of Piawala in the Fantal Islands. Claiming to be a descendant of the royal family who ruled the long lost Afzen Piawala nation, she and her followers have partially rehabilitated the Old Palace, and claimed control of Piawala Island. Although still nominally loyal to the Alkorian Colonial Government, she has driven out several local officials, and has ordered that Alkorian flags on government buildings be replaced with a new flag of her own design. Lord Governor Richard Bigsby has pledged to look into the situation, but has been slow to do so, perhaps due to the several rumored romances between himself and Rathi that have occurred over the past decade.

We decided to bump the setting forward about 100 years to WW2ish tech levels to mix things up

Some people are still writing stuff pre-time skip though

So far, we have done updates for the Nantic states, former Eldrian states, Orgillons, Khanate, Aukians, and Caridians, plus a few thoughts on other areas

Someone recommended that I do the Union next, currently have some rough notes for an update based on all the gimmicks people have used so far like anti-magic, inquisition, burning crosses, coronachan, 7-step plan, communist china and best korea, slavic stuff, blood magic, etc.

Let me know if there is anything you want to see in the update
