I decided to revive these threads as it's the weekend, so people might have more time to post updates to ongoing stories like the War of Ice and Wrath and maybe add some more lore (vaguely remember some anon saying they'd make a Carthage-themed nation.) You might also notice that I've changed the OP and subsequent posts a bit by changing some of the grammar. If you don't like how it looks, you're free to add the old version back in the next thread. Here's a picture to start things off. Add lore when you'd like. Also, should a discord server be made for the setting to post projects like Gloria-Etalia?

I am still slowly coming up with the post-time skip situation for nations I worked on, but it is an ambitious project, and I am focused on other things right now

If anyone else has plans/ideas for the post-time skip situation, it would be useful for my own work

>State of affairs in the Dalavchtai Khanate

It has been a nightmarish state of affairs, that of the Khanate in the new century. The great homeland of the khans (and recently that hobgoblins as well, following their assimilation) has struggled unlike any other in the turning of time. It had begun quietly, as the new Supreme Khan Bogdaii who had recently inherited the title of khan in the Dalavchtai tribe that the nation is known for was crowned. The position
of Supreme Khan was an elected one and he was not particularly supported by any of the khans, save for those tribes vassalized to the Dalavchtai in past years. That would've still not been enough in the eyes of the Kurultay (an electoral body unlike the nation of the Maritime Khurultai), the conclave formed by a combination of all the steppe-khans who would converge in order to decide who the next Supreme Khan would be. The odds were heavily against the young khan Bogdaii, but strangely enough a third party had emerged to support him. This group would be the cult of Khar Mori, who had broken several ancient customs by announcing their support of a single khan. For it was not their task to choose the khan, they must be the ones to instead instate him into this prestigious position. And yet it was by the word of the shadowy high shaman Ogeden, who had curried much favor among the khans in his position as leader of the cult in his attempts to twist it into a political tool for his own power that old rules were cast aside for being outdated and the cult was allowed to make their voice heard in the Kurultay. Ogeden has chosen the young khan of the Dalavchtai for two reasons, he was young and therefore quite willing to hear the words of such a distinguished figure without question and the symbolism of the first nomadic tribe to be chosen by the Dark Horse as the one to lead the flock being the one to usher in the new century.
>>
>>79633611

Through the constant pressuring of his loyal preachers amongst the nomads, enough tribes were pressured into offering their support to the Dalavchtai khan that he would win handily by the time the Kurultay met. Regardless of the ill-will his sponsors had acquired among the tribes, his ascending to the seat of Supreme Khan would be met with revelry like no other. Bogdaii's status as the khan of a new era would see him named "Golden Prince, he who Khar Mori looks upon with fondness" during the ensuing celebrations. And what celebrations too! Those days, which would make the legendarily decadent Nantean balls and wild parties of the Miqdaadite Sultan look like peasant's harvest festivals in comparison were full of tests of might, horse archery, foods and drinks that flowed like water, extravagant sacrifices to Khar Mori and tributary gifts from all the peoples of the khanate and many from beyond who looked upon this shift of power with interest. And yet, this would not be echoed in the following decades of rule. It was clear the High Shaman Ogeden was merely using the Supreme Khan as a figurehead ruler to push his own motives, his means of sidestepping the ban on any voting for the Cult of Khar Mori during the previous Kurultay and seizing power this way. Some were hopeful that this would usher in a return to utter devoutness in the bloody faith of the Dark Horse and a possible shift into a theocracy, though those who said that had clearly never met the High Shaman himself. He was a cruel man, but one without the strength to back it up. He won his duels through the foulest of necromancies and the darkest of schemes. Ogeden was no leader, and this became apparent in the severe losses the nomads were facing in any and all campaigns that were not defensive.
>>
>>79633905

This was due to the Supreme Khan having issued a half-baked reformation of the military shortly after his coronation which instead of modernizing it, focused on the introduction of a vastly more inefficient bureaucracy that slowed the vast intelligence system the nomads were known for to a crawl. This would also establish many other positions trying to emulate the Nantic style of fighting such as the non-commissioned officers of the line. Many of these were sycophants in the court of Bogdaii who were appointed to high-ranking positions of which they had not the slightest clue on how to rule. But while this would not have spelled the end of the khanate as it was known and feared, merely a slope from which it could rise again following the eventual shifting of power to a more powerful leader, herein came the straw that finally broke the camel's back. The awakening of the World Flame had released a wave of its divine energy as a Demon Lord into the wider world. This would elevate the mages of Autia-Tismo into a higher state of power from those in the surrounding parallel universes, as befitting the planet's status as center of the multiverse. But the form in which this ascension took would vary from the many magic-oriented races of the world. The Southern Elves of Sartyrian and their offshoots who had the greatest tie to the World Flame were the only ones to directly be affected by this released aura. This is not to say that the many mages outside that race did not receive similar effects, though theirs would be intrinsically linked with their homeland instead in a chain reaction from the energy of the World Flame. For the Dalavchtai nomads, it would be the touch of Khar Mori that seeped throughout the land and the venerated spirits of their ancestors once again becoming aware of the physical existence and granting their power to their descendants.

This would tie in to the current state of the Khanate in Ogeden, who found his necromantic power vastly increased from what it was before. He would put this to great use in expanding his own natural (decidedly unnatural after he worked his magic) lifespan into years beyond count in a lesser form of a lich. He would also perform this process on the Supreme Khan, promising him immortal life and wisdom. While not as potent as his extending of years, Bogdaii grew deathly in appearance and disposition as the High Shaman gleefully proclaimed him "Eternal Khan, chosen of the ancients." This discovery drove the khans, who were sick of the constant enemy incursions into the steppes as they had once done before the constant crippling flaws in the new regime were whipped up into a frenzy. These events would trigger the Hobgoblin Mutiny in the C.L.H.C, as the hobgoblins are a race known for their loyalty to those they deem mightier than themselves and the might of the nomads was now being put to question. A faction of the goblinoids refused to fight any longer in the constant failing campaigns on the Khanate's borders and triggered the wrath of the cult of the Dark Horse who wiped them out after a lengthy siege. And yet, the willingness of those hobgoblins to defy the authority of the Supreme Khan, chosen of the Dalavchtai's very gods made them into martyrs as many of the khans proclaimed secession from the Khanate under belief that the mandate of Khar Mori had been rescinded from the emperor and that the cult to their god was no longer faithful. Khans and generals became warlords, who soon devolved into fighting with former friends as the steppelands of the Dalavchtai became divided into a myriad of lesser cliques, fronts and petty kingdoms. It is widely regarded as the most dangerous place in the world to regularly live in, as borders shift every day and kings rise and fall with the lands being a constant warzone of lords who seek to be sole lord of the steppes.
>>
>>79634571

It is true that the Khanate has had its vast borders fractured, as its Supreme Khan and High Shaman were both slain in the early stages of the civil war and and no longer commands the same deal of respect it earned in past years, but that is not to say it is but a pushover by the standards of the most powerful of Autian states. This harsh new reality of life in the steppes grants no time for lethargy like that which creeped into the old Khanate in its later days, and those who have carved out a niche for themselves in the chaos are become generals without equal who themselves often receive many blessings from the mightiest daemons of Khar Mori, with the Dark Horse himself watching this situation in great amusement and even a slight interest. It is also known of the vastly level of industrialization in these lands. For the warlords of the steppes remember in great detail the sorrow caused by constant assaults by the other nations of Tismo, an issue exacerbated through slow technological progress. In order to sufficiently arm their almost fully militarized populace, many of the nomads (general terms like Dalavchtai being used to address them being all but forgotten) have industrialized at an exponential rate, among the world’s fastest in the great conflict over their homeland. To accomplish such tasks, a great deal of the warlord cliques that fill the lands of the Khanate have sought alliance with outside powers to fund the necessary industry needed to accomplish their goals. These petty lords have adopted a great deal of the culture of their allies as well. In this sense the line between some states being mere allies to or puppet to outside can grow very unclear at times.
>>
>>79635197

Whatever is the case, chances of reunification are steadily growing more and more distant as times pass, with the now-dispersed necromancer of Khar Mori serving all sides and resurrecting the dead after every battle to fight again as reanimated corpses. One final factor of great importance lies in the entombed bodies of many past khans of great power, brought back to the mortal existence into unlife as specially revived wights who have gained a degree of sentience almost equal to their living forms. Their claims at power add merely another factor to the intrigue of the steppelands. But times are changing and individual factions are surviving longer and growing more powerful than ever before. And should a truly exemplary leader emerge amongst the masses, one who could accomplish the impossible and reunite the Khanate, the immense resources, technology and manpower at their control would ensure the emergence of these restored lands as one of the great powers of the world. And should they expand from there by gaining lands even beyond what was lost and perhaps even seizing the lands of the troublesome Sostenfielians, they could even become the prime power above all else.

Some final notes:

I didn’t specify this at the beginning even though it was implied, but to specify this about what happened during the timeskip in the Khanate.

I intended this situation to be a sort of long term narrative that’s occurring during the timeskip to keep things interesting, kind of like what the Ercaenmedian and Belkan tension is in the current time period.

I am planning to make some polities in the fractured Khanates myself, but if anyone likes this idea and wants to make their own unique political entity with some unique traits here then go ahead. It’s a bit of a Wild West in the Khanate at the moment with dozens of different factions after all, so it wouldn’t be an issue.

This is loosely based of the Warlord Era during the lifespan of the Republic of China.

Àsteriek and Öbeliek, two of the greatest warriors of Lindgrub. They stay together with the dog of Öbeliek called Dogematik in a small Lindgrubian village on the coast which has the unfortunate trait of often being attacked by conquerors from other countries looking to use it as a foothold to launch an invasion into Lindgrub. This causes no fear in them however, as they have the help of the magic potion brewed by the Druid Paneoramiek (secretly an immensely wise and ancient Lapus Elf helping the Lindgrubians so no evil will be able to reach his homeland in the woods) which only he knows the secret to. This magic potion is one of, if not the most powerful concoctions in the world, granting its drinker superhuman strength, reaction and stamina for a time. While all the men of the village (except Öbeliek who fell into a cauldron of potion as a baby and permanently has the effect on him now) partake in this brew to fight off attackers such as the Alkorian garrisons around them looking to reclaim Lindgrub as a colony, Asteriek and Öbeliek often find themselves having to travel far distances on adventures to either help friends or their village. They take to these missions with great enthusiasm, with Öbeliek immediately going first so long as there is his favorite food of wild boar to be found. Together they’ve slapped invading Dreeght and Alkorians into the atmosphere and knocked out many Dire Tigers of the Khurultai with a fist to the head cracking their armor and making them see stars.

Why did I put so much effort in a fucking Asterix joke.

>Dhu’lka-ruu’xa (Post-Timeskip)

>Demographics and Government:
People of Jinsanic origin are now the dominant ethnic group in this region, though many have Sostenfielian roots as well. They, along with significant minorities of Sostenfielians and Medans, follow the government of General Tuya Odval, an unusually young leader who is more a politician than a warrior, and more a celebrity than a politician. Tuya’s government is weak, and she would likely submit quickly if any of her neighboring warlords gained significant strength, but for now, the fact she descends from several prominent khans, combined with her skill at avoiding conflicts without seeming to be overly weak keeps her in power.

The infamous nature spirits are still present in the area, and still a law onto themselves, but aren’t quite as openly hostile as in the past.

>Religion:
Worship of Khar Mori is the official state sponsored religion in the area, but he is respected more out of fear than anything else, and few people in the region would willingly draw the attention of one of his shamans unless the situation is urgent. However, trying to avoid the shamans is also a bad idea, so few weddings, major holiday festivals, or funerals occur without one officiating, and most government departments and military units have one assigned to them for spiritual guidance.

Medans and Sostenfielians are generally not expected to worship Khar Mori due to their “inferior lineages”. Most Medans and some Sostenfielians still worship the nature spirits, or at least placate them. Others worship foreign gods, particularly those of Sostenfiel, but also sometimes those of Autia or elsewhere.

>Magic:
Shamans of Khar Mori sometimes bolster the forces of Tuya with necromancy and other sinister magic.

Shamans of Dhu'lka-ruu'xa are also still present, but they keep a lower profile since they often get blamed when local nature spirits act up.
>>
>>79640770

>Military:
Tuya’s military is large in proportion to the region’s population, but poorly equipped and organized. Like many khans and generals, Tuya tends to value loyalty over skill, which although reduces the chances of a coup against her, has led most of the upper and middle tier of her officers and government to be barely competent yes men. Lacking the wealth of certain other warlords, Tuya and her predecessors use cheap local copies of the already notoriously cheap but durable Union designed gear like the ZX-07 bolt action rifle, and their trademark bland beige uniforms. However some local traditions remain, like the extensive use of horses, the fondness for curved sabers among officers and shock troops, and the use of Khar Mori shamans as armed support. For the most part, Tuya’s army acts as more of a police force, and would likely rapidly crumble if faced with a large scale invasion by a modern force. Everyone is expected to serve a few years in the military (though only the non-Jinsans consider this conscription) but many serve for much longer. The pay is poor, but jobs are hard to find in the region.

Native Dhu'lka-ruu'xans rarely cause problems these days, but nature spirits can still cause major headaches if they feel they are disrespected.
>>
File: 3 - A Nature Spirit.jpg (876 KB, 1920x2318)
876 KB
876 KB JPG
>>79640786

>History:
The region has long swayed back and forth between Sostenfiel and the Khanates, but for the past several decades, it has been firmly in the hands of a dynasty of local warlords with blood ties to several of the area’s most prominent Jinsan tribes. The government officially considers itself a part of a wider Khanate subordinate to the often empty or contested position of Supreme Khan, but in reality, is fully independent most of the time, or sometimes vassal to a neighboring khanate when not.

Sostenfiel generally leaves this area alone. Harassing Tuya’s government may cause it to be absorbed into a more aggressive neighbor, but helping them is seen as strengthening an inevitable future enemy when the Khanates start reuniting again.

The local nature spirits have gradually become less prominent as their Medan followers became more reluctant to raid the increasingly numerous and well equipped occupiers. However, the nature spirits are still powerful in their own way, and can cause all sorts of problems if displeased in some way.
>>
>>79640800

>Economy:
The economy is still weak and dominated by state run agencies, but is rapidly developing. Improvements in mining technology mean that previously nonviable seams of gold and diamonds can now be harvested with strip mining and river dredging when prices are high enough. Although iron, coal, and oil deposits are small and difficult to reach, state owned companies still harvest them anyways. State owned factories churn out rifles, bullets, and uniforms whenever the resources to manufacture them can be harvested or purchased. Owning a large scale cattle, horse, or goat ranch is the most prestigious non-government position, and ranching in general is now the backbone of the private sector economy. Trade caravans are still a thing, but are not nearly as prestigious as they once were. Most people work for the state in some manner or other. Salaries are low compared to those in wealthier nations, or even many other Khanates. In solidarity, many senior officials and officers don’t get paid much more than common workers and soldiers, but in reality, corruption is common, and Tuya is generous to her loyalists as long as they don’t embarrass her with extravagant displays of wealth.

Many of the native (Medan) Dhu'lka-ruu'xans staunchly refuse to embrace change, and still live via hunting and gathering with some primitive agriculture. Those that do embrace change usually find themselves limited to the lowest rungs of an already poor nation. Sostenfielians are usually treated better since they are often seen as being technologically adept even though many left Sostenfiel generations ago.

I'd like to hope a revitalized Nantes with the other Nantic states managed to subdue Yr, I know that a force of Belkan Knights and former aristocracy migrated to Nantes to restore the state, but it's up to debate if they could finally defeat Yr.

I assume this is a reference to the Prince Otto Wessenfeld post back on thread 13?

I guess I never caught onto the fact that Otto and Knightly Orders backing him were supposed to be from Belkan.

This kind of disrupts what I was currently working on for Nantes a bit, but I will adjust.

Basically how I will do things now is:
- Otto (known in Nantes as Hugo) was born in Nantes to a prominent, well liked family, but moved to Belkan during early adulthood (where his father was from) and became a highly respected general
- He convinced the Belkan leadership to send a major expedition to Nantes to help them against Yr to help shore up Belkan's poor public image within other Nantic countries
- Wins a number of key victories, takes back most of the territory lost to Yr, pirates, fleshshapers, and Fluffwood, and also shames Alkor into giving back territory on the west coast
- Restores the monarchy in Nantes, ends the 300th war, and nearly restores the Nantic Empire by sheer popularity alone, but then dies, his son and grandson aren't nearly as successful, causing Nantes to revert to a democratic republic
- These days, Nantes is split between two political parties that argue over his legacy; an urban party that sees Hugo as a pan-Nantic champion, and a rural party that feels he favored Nantes over other Nantic countries.
- In theory Hugo defeated the demons ruling Yr, but recently they have made a second comeback, taken territory in Yr, Nantes, the Northern Wastes, the Freedom Coalition, and reconnected to their old operations in Lapus, Tismo and elsewhere

I can get behind this honestly. I mean it's semi realistic too, they had their big revanchist moment under this legendary hero and then when legendary heroes do what they usually do, which is die, it all fell into chaos.

Also can be a point of disunity in the pan-Nantic Coalition.
>The Belgan-Ercaenmedian Empire part of the faction is still secretly supporting the monarchist faction under the Hugoists
>Alkor, which has brought Harlbourg more or less completely back into it's Sphere, is being overrun by pro-democracy groups from the Free Cities who want to give greater support to the floundering state. These pro-democracy movements are being secretly armed and funneled into Nantes by agents of the state, for the express purpose of countering Belkan influence as a Nantean-Belkan alliance would put them in a position of primacy in the Coalition.
>While this is happening the countries of the pan-Nantic Coalition are warring on the Southern states and subjects of the new Elven Empires so this divide is being heavily pushed by other nations.

>The Belgan-Ercaenmedian Empire part of the faction is still secretly supporting the monarchist faction under the Hugoists
I figure the rural party is more monarchist leaning, but technically both consider themselves heirs to the Hugo legacy

Also, not a big fan of a Belkan-Ercaenmedian Empire, I was kind of assuming all the Nantic states were more or less democratic by this point (except Yr)

>Alkor, which has brought Harlbourg more or less completely back into it's Sphere, is being overrun by pro-democracy groups from the Free Cities who want to give greater support to the floundering state. Alkor is a democracy by this point. Also don't really understand what you are trying to say. Is Alkor sending the same pro-democracy groups causing it problems into Nantes?

I was already planning on having the urban party split between factions, so maybe I will give them pro-Alkor and pro-Belkan factions

An immensely outlandish Yrrian idea of a superweapon proposed as one of the many suggested means of combating the shockingly resurgent Nantes that is encroaching in their borders. It may be seen as impossible, but then again, so did people call the superheavy train scheme and work is progressing quite well there with most complaints from those impartial nations offended by construction such as Unionaries and Knurultai being ignored.

While klephts originate and are common in Soukos, there are still bandits in nearby countries who have also embraced the klephtic traditions to an extent, often with their own twist.

The most notable of those are the klephts of the Voluntas Pact.
Comprising mostly from runaway slaves and helots, these klephts have become an irritating thorn in the country.
The most notable difference between them and their Soukan cousins are their masks.
In Voluntas, the mask, or prosopos as it is called in Voluntan, is mostly reserved for the nobility and citizens; one can easily tell someone's status just by how expensive their mask looks.
The Voluntas klephts also wear masks, albeit cheaply made, partly because hiding their identities is practical and partly as a statement against Voluntan society.
Another notable part of their attire is that they wear the coins from their raids stitched together on their chest.

>The Nantic Alliance:

>History:

The concept of a reunified Nantic Empire had long been a dream of many living in Nantic successor states, including both common folk and aspiring Emperors. However, obviously no one could agree on who would be the actual Emperor. Belkan and Yr sought domination via military conquest, but neither had the numbers to conquer all of Nantia, nor did they have political support in the heartlands due to both their past belligerence and northern culture. The ruling classes of Westphallica, Alkor, and Nantes on the other hand sought power primarily through economic and cultural dominance, playing a more subtle game of marriage alliances, company mergers, and proxy conflicts, however, these games often primarily benefited the upper classes, and bought them little love from the common folk in other nations.

In the end though it was Otto Wessenfeld who came the closest to re-establishing the Empire. Also known as Hugo Wessenfeld, he was born born in Nantes to a prominent, well liked family, but moved to Belkan during early adulthood (where his father was from) and became a highly respected general. During the 300th War, sometimes now known as the Final War, he convinced the Belkan leadership to send a major expedition to Nantes to help them in the war against the demons of Yr. The expedition was highly challenged at the time as it occurred at the peak of fighting between Belkan and Ercaenmedi, but Otto successfully argued that it would help shore up Belkan's poor public image within other Nantic countries.
>>
>>79699027

The move proved to be prescient. Several months later, despite a string of compelling military victories, Belkan was still bogged down fighting in southern Ercaenmedi, and also struggling with a brutal insurgency in northern Ercaenmedi. Meanwhile, Alkor seemed close to bringing several new players into the war on its side, and Belkan’s alliance with Soukos was being strained over the question of Souko’s interest in taking over Belkor and the west coast of Ercaenmedi. However, people across the world were increasingly concerned by the massive destruction being caused by the demons of Ignis and Yr, and the 300th war was becoming very unpopular even in Belkan as people everywhere began to see it as a distraction from the true fight, and perhaps deliberately manipulated into being by the demons.

Taking advantage of the increasing sense of urgency to deal with the “demon problem”, Belkan signed a ceasefire with Alkor, and exchanged a significant amount of territory in Ercaenmedi for free passage for a large chunk of their army to Nantes to fight the demons of Yr. Having demonstrated their goodwill, Alkor, Harlbourg, and others were persuaded by Belkan to contribute their own forces to a grand alliance under Otto Wessenfeld against Yr. After much bloodshed (by that point, Yr had almost overrun Nantes), Otto managed to not only drive Yr out of Nantes, but also occupy Yr in its entirety, forcing the demonic leadership to flee elsewhere. Yr was occupied by a multi-national force from major Nantic nations, and Otto further increased his reputation later that year by leading a major expedition down south to help in the war against Ignis.

In recognition of his contributions. Otto was declared King of Nantes, and there was serious talk about awarding him the title “Emperor of the Nantic Empire” but his refusal to help pressure Belkan into giving up its occupied territory in Ercaenmedi ended up costing him much support outside of Belkan. However, with the support of Nantes, and a fair bit of goodwill elsewhere, Belkan was still able to occupy Ercaenmedi for another 20 years, until the military finally ran out of excuses to maintain the occupation.

The goodwill generated by the alliance against Yr also managed to forge a de facto military alliance that has never been broken since (fighting between Belkan and Ercaenmedi continued sporadically for decades until Ercaenmedi joined the alliance as an associate just 10 years ago). Economic and political ties formed more slowly, but have increased in recent decades as pan-Nantic political parties have grown in popularity in several Nantic nations. Democracy has also become a key part of the Alliance’s identity, and several non-Nantic democratic nations have joined as allies or full members.

More recently, the Nantic Alliance has found new purpose as a defensive alliance against the ascendant Second Empire, the sudden re-emergence of Yr, and other rivals old and new.

>Members:

Belkan – Member – Still notoriously imperialistic and nationalistic, Belkan is unpopular in some quarters for their past history of expansionism and current lack of meaningful democracy, but still wields significant influence in the alliance as the largest military contributor and a major seller of arms. They are also popular with those in other Nantic countries who want the return of an aggressively imperialistic Nantic Empire.

Ercaenmedi – Associate – Belkan has strongly opposed Ercaenmedi joining the alliance since the beginning, but Ercaenmedi’s long history of supplying military support to the alliance combined with a longstanding desire by many nearby nations to have a buffer against the possibility of future Belkan expansion meant that Belkan was finally forced to withdraw their veto to Ercaenmedi joining as an associate. Various treaties pushed by Belkan have limited the rate at which Ercaenmedi was allowed to industrialize, and the nation remains fairly rural, but magic is more widespread here than other Nantic nations.

Westphallica – Member – Westphallica remains a playground for the obscenely rich. Although it has a vibrant democracy, the guest workers that make up a large chunk of the population can’t vote, and the native citizens and wealthy elite maintain their centuries old practice of watching each other’s backs. Aside from the gold and gems for which it is famous, Westphallica is also home to countless banks and investment firms, adding both to its wealth and influence. In addition, wealthy families from all over Nantia usually have at least a few relatives living there.

>>79699063

Republic of Free Men – Associate – With the banning of slavery from the region, the Republic of Free Men, now more commonly known as the RFM, lost its original raisond'être , and is now mostly famous for being a political basket case as its numerous political parties squabble over what little wealth remains in the country. A long history of political instability plus large scale emigration by its best and brightest has stunted its industrialization, and the nation remains poor in agricultural land and has only modest mineral wealth.

Falconhead – Member – Falconhead remains staunchly rural and underpopulated. Although some industrialization has occurred, a combination of low unemployment, stringent environmental laws, and a tiny domestic market means that most goods can be imported from elsewhere for cheaper. The main political parties all agree on the importance of preserving the area’s “unique character”. Those wanting something more exciting typically emigrate, at least for a while. The nation is far from poor though, with farming, mining, artisan workshops, and tourism all providing decent employment.

Afrozil/Afrolia – Associate – The Afzen Amazons were the first to join the Nantic Alliance as associates, thanks to their long standing alliance with Alkor. The collapse of the slave trade has decimated Afrozil and Afrolia economically, but old money families and clans still have enough wealth to live lavish lifestyles and many have switched to other businesses. Both nations remain major shipping hubs, and their “don’t ask/don’t tell attitude” makes them a popular home base for smugglers, sex traffickers, tax cheats, mercenary groups, and drug lords. Despite these issues, Afrozil, Afrolia, plus several smaller colonies contain key Nantic Alliance naval bases which the Nantic Alliance has gone great lengths to protect.

>>79699076

Sparticia – Associate – The widespread use of repeating firearms in neighboring nations have forced the Spartician Amazons to give up on many of the more distinct aspects of their culture including raiding and ritual slave taking. Instead, many of them do mercenary work or join military or law enforcement organizations in neighboring nations to acquire wealth, before returning home to set up rugged homesteads in the Spartician Mountains. A few villages and towns have been set up to buy and sell goods, but government is minimal, and industry forbidden. Afrozil and Falconhead sometimes support them militarily, as they are a valuable buffer state to the raider cultures and failed states to the south and east.

Gabaet – Member – Sometimes dismissively referred to as a “cluster of railroads and mines”, Gabaet is the least populated Nantic nation, with even less people than Falconhead. Although the tourist towns, ski resorts, upper class railroad companies, dwarven mines, and northern farmlands are extremely wealthy, the coal mines and interior farming communities are pretty rough, and the southern “Hagarta” region is impoverished and isolated. The nation is known for having a certain amount of mystic, particularly as many witch and warlocks are known to hide here. Like Alkor and Falconhead, this nation is a constitutional monarchy dominated by moderate political parties that favor the status quo.

Hagarta – N/A – Technically part of the nation of Gabaet, this area is de facto autonomous, and home to little other than a scattering of homesteads and small villages that haven’t changed much in the past 100 years. Raiders from the south sometimes cause problems, but there is little worth stealing here, and the infamous witch and warlock clans hiding here are more powerful than ever.
>>
>>79699086

Alkor – Member – As the wealthiest and most populous member of the Alliance, Alkor has much say in its activities. Massive industrialization and trade networks stretching across the globe allow it to maintain a large army and navy without excessively burdening the population. Living conditions for the working and middle class are steadily improving, while some of the upper class and nobility thrown aside their stodgy prudishness and have embraced the decadent lifestyles favored in Westphallica, Nantes, and Napan. Although democracy is firmly established, status quo parties tend to dominate, and most common folk continue to idealize the Royal Family, Navy, Church of Shomdar, and other longstanding institutions.

Harlbourg – Member – Although nearly as large as Alkor, Harlbourg continues to be hobbled by internal factionalism which has only gotten worse with democracy. Like Alkor and Belkan, Harlbourg is an industrial superpower, though it tends to rely on cheap labor to make up for the instability of its highly libertarian free market system. Although some of the families here are wealthy as any in Westphallica or Alkor, they tend to keep a lower profile in order to avoid reminding lower class families just how big the difference in wealth is. Harlbourg’s open doors immigration policy makes it the most diverse of the Nantic States, and has exponentially increased the size of its main coastal cities. Yorkburg has been the largest city in the world for several decades now.

Hoogivs – Associate – Hoogivs remains a strangely timeless place, consisting of a cluster of towns and villages located a significant distance from any other major communities. Although some technology has been imported here, most people are content with their lot in life, and don’t feel the need to work extra hard to generate the major surpluses in crops needed to purchase noisy labor saving devices like tractors and pumps.
>>
>>79699105

Unkor – Associate – This often overlooked nation is only an associate due to its moderate ties to Harlbourg. Troubles with the undead and necromancers have only gotten worse over the past century, and this is area is one of the few with a steady decreasing population. Although a rudimentary democratic government exists, it mostly serves as a meeting place for the representatives of the few men and women of means who choose to live in this area.

Nantes – Member – Although large sections of Nantes were destroyed by Yr a century ago, it had largely recovered prior to the recent, unexpected resurgence of Yr. Although generally poorer and less industrialized than other Nantic nations, Nantes still possesses many ancient cities filled with breathtaking architecture from the peak of the Nantic Empire, and a number of old wealth families have returned from other nations. Although no longer as influential as it was during the Otto Period, Nantes is still one of the five core members of the Nantic Alliance, and rightfully sees itself as a major center for arts and culture. Although briefly a monarchy during the time of Otto and his line, Nantes has reverted back to a republic, and power now lies with its highly centralized democratic government, where deeply entrenched political parties argue over the legacy of Otto.

Skyr-nada – Associate – Still largely a tribal society, enough Nantic oil and forestry companies have been allowed to set up companies here to justify adding Skyr-nada as an associate to the Alliance. A primitive government exists which is really just a loose coalition of representatives from whichever tribes have dealings with the southerners, along with the law enforcers they deputize to keep the peace. Furs and rare herbs are often traded for rifles, ammunition, tools, and clothing.

The Lapus Elves – Associate – Technically the various nations and city states of the Lapus Elves and their allied fey are separate associate nations of the Alliance, but most Alliance citizens would struggle to name more than a few of the more prominent. Although the individual nations remain isolationist, more individual Lapus Elves than ever before are spending time among the Nantic Alliance Nations, eager to see the new advancements that technology has created. Some will live among humanity for decades, and their long lives, natural skill, and inherent exoticness means many can easily find success as craftsmen and performers. The Lapus Elves still much prefer guerrilla to a fair fight, and although their magic has increased, some have also become skilled with marksmen rifles and mechanical traps.

Krevech Islands – Associate – This sparsely inhabited and often forgotten nation is now home to a key Alliance military port. The Krevech Islands now have a constitutional monarchy and generally share the values of the Nantic Alliance, but industrialization has been slow here, and many goods are imported.

Napan – Associate – Located in the middle of a geopolitical hot spot, Napan is an invaluable ally to the Alliance and is home to many key naval bases and airfields which help safeguard the Alliance’s remaining interests in the region (particularly Bridge Island nations dominated by Alkorian corporations). Napan’s magical abilities are immense and ever increasing, as more and more citizens get in touch with their “spirit animal” side, some of whom have to go back generations to find their spirit animal ancestor. Although not particularly industrialized, magical items from Napan fetch high prices, in other Nantic Nations, and the latest in military and luxury technology are a common sight in Napan.
>>
>>79699138

>Technology and Magic:

Most members of the Nantic Alliance have industrialized to some extent, and those who haven’t can freely purchase most goods from other members. Major inventions and advancements like gasoline engines, aerodynamics, manufacture of rubber and other synthetic materials, steam turbines, electricity, radios, rifling, and automatic weapons have allowed for the mass manufacture of machines, instruments, and materials that do things that could only previously be done by painstakingly created magical devices. However, like most parts of the world, Nantic Alliance members have seen both the number and potency of magic users increase among their populations. Although Nantic Alliance members all use battle mages to some extent, they are more inclined than many other nations to encourage magic users to stay away from the front lines and use their magic to improve the potency of technological devices and other goods.

>Military:

The leading Nantic Nations all benefit from having large populations that are generally loyal to the cause of their nations. Aside from fairly large professional armies, massive volunteer armies can be raised from the civilian population as well, and even more soldiers can be raised on the rare occasions that conscription is used. Bolt action rifles tend to be standard for most soldiers, but more elite formations use a wide range of weapons with higher rates of fire, more stopping power, or magically enhanced potency.

Various sorts of tanks, half-tracks, and other motorized vehicles are common, as are planes, ships, subs, and airships.

I would say early WWII, but don't take it too literally. Dieselpunk type stuff, magic, and fictional images from 1850s to 1950s genres also still work.

For example, Belkan probably has floating armored airships with flight decks for air craft, plus many of their infantry still wear lots of armor, Alkor still often wear red uniforms, Yr has undead and demons, Napan still has ninjas and other weeb stuff, plus the power level on their animal spirits and other fey like dragons has increased so they are still relevant, etc.

For Second Empire, I will probably give them the "evil cowboy" look for basic infantry, since black fits well with their existing color scheme, and revolvers and bolt action rifles are roughly appropriate tech levels. But they will also have a lot of "dark high fantasy" stuff representing their use of darker forms of magic avoided by the Nantic Alliance.

The Union will have a lot of early communist inspired stuff, plus some stuff from Trench Crusade and other similar concepts.

Not sure about the others, there are a lot of nations made by anons who were active until recently, so I will wait a while to see what they come up with.

Orgrill infantry.
Throughout the great wars and their destruction, the Orgrillon Domian has managed to hold on. When a veritable horde of gargantuan creatures swarmed from the north, the mountain fortresses were eventually overwhelmed, and a large force was assembled to fell the great and terrible beasts. The Orgrillon domain had, through forced exchange, learned the secret of cannonry and they were able to push the behemoths back out of the land. No sooner had they achieved victory, and a force of many thousands of men surged over the southern border. The southern Krolgars had long been weary of humans, and put up a stubborn fight but were simply outnumbered, and had yet to receive instruction in the use of more modern artillery, with the technology being concentrated in the north. With the southern bastions taken, the ravaged north fell soon after. The Orgrillons had devasted the attacking force, but could not resist the tide of humanity. Subjegated for some time, they benefited in more exposure to the advancements of the human nations, and quickly took to the newer ways of war. Gone were the colossal ballistas, and in their place a fondness for powerful earth-shattering artillery was found.
Still preferring to close the distance, the Ogre-kind continue to cover themselves in thick armor and use their might to thrash their opponents in melee, making ample use of flamethrowers to supplement their sheer might in shock tactics.
They have since regained their sovereignty, reestablishing the Domain on Dead Man's Hand, though they are now expected to provide forces to their former subjugators and assist in their wars, an agreement made in the peace negotiations of their revolution.

Idk which human empire could have conquered them, I'll let someone else decide that. A way to keep the Orgrillon Domain in the setting, perhaps with slightly altered borders maybe. A way to modernise them a bit for the time jump.

The Krolgar Assembly ceased functioning when the domain came under human domination. While the Krolgar that survived the war kept some status amongst their people, they lost any significant actionable authority.
It was this social tradition that would be the genesis of their eventual revolt. Though subjugation was never likely to be permanent over the fierce ogre-kind, their resistance was facilitated and organized by the Krolgar. One in particular, Kon-il-Gog, rose to preeminence through sheer tenacity and the ferocity. When the break finally came, and they regained their autonomy, he was naturally made the head of the reborn Domain. Kon-il-Gog became the first Gorkargin since their empire collapsed in the ancient war against the Sartyrians.

The Assembly of Krolgar was restored with the Domain, but its authority was nearly entirely lost. Kon-il-Gog ruled with near absolute authority over the Orgrillons. Upon his death he was succeeded by his son Kon-Gar-il, marking the first time the position of Gorkargin was passed on as a hereditary position.

The Domain is as martial as it has ever been, yet besides their military obligation to the humans that had once made a colony of them, they are quite solitary. The Kon dynastic regime is said to be nearly obsessed with ensuring their defence, always on the war footing for some potential invasion. Quite invested in the nation, the Ogres of the domain are all too willing to serve in the military and celebrate being sent abroad as levies in foreign wars.

- Yr - unusual and intimidating, particularly walkers

I would say Belkan for this one

An aerial detachment of the Valkyrie Elves which contributes to the air force of the High Elven Confederacy as their contribution to the forces of it, filling in the role of conventional airships to fight alongside the massive dragons the elves bring during the world's relentless wars and the experimental craft that aid them. These experimental craft have sophisticated in design from their first conception through collaboration with the Tortles and are used as fighter aircraft. Though in the present day, some more resemble Nantic aerial aircraft carriers in size. As for the ships of the Valkyrie Elves, they are ethereal in nature with some saying they're brought straight out of the underworld and are used in battle when not ferrying souls. Quick they are, and surrounded by a magical mist that stalks their presence from which they fire volley upon volley of artillery.

Going to start working on the post-timeskip Second Empire soon, basic premise is they absorbed most of the old Eldrian States from Wizard Coast to the Rust Desert, though each area retains many of its old characteristics.

They have on and off wars against the Nantic Alliance in the deserts of Aesanaeria, the Bridge Islands, and probably the Emerald Islands, conflicts with the Union along the Iron Crown, and occasional conflicts with pretty much everyone in the Flickfowl area.

Not sure what the current situation is with Sartyrian, or how much destruction they caused when they tried to reach Eldr.
