What is Gloria-Etalia? It is a setting which sprung up into existence when OP gave /tg/ an Empty map and people doodled things onto it. The world of Gloria-Etalia is one in the phase of the post-post-apocalypse where remnants of the once great civilizations remain like wandering cities of mimics or missile silos considered to be pyramids, but most of the ancient technology has decayed beyond recognition and barbarians control the world. Still the world is far from a dead ruin.> Thread QuestionsShould the OP-pic be Snow Elf pinup or Maps? >The second is by the Pass of Yari. Also called Great Dragon Pass, this consists of a twisting route up a great col on the western side to a wall at the top of the pass, manned year round by the army of Leixi-Airoxia. There is then a narrow rope bridge from the gate in the wall across a sheer ravine over a mile deep to the other wall, guarded by Imperial forces. The walls are adorned by great designs of dragons in the style of the two sides (bearing in mind that neither side had an artist who had actually seen the overwhelming majesty of a real dragon). The route down on the other side to Yari is mostly along a long and narrow ridge. It is through the Pass of Yari that the Empire trades their tea for precious amber from the beaches of the Westrasi Sea and Saramese jade.>The exact manner by which the bridge over the great border ravine was made is uncertain, but it is surely the case that no invader could cross this way: a bit of fire, or some quick work with a knife, and the pass will be closed. By being so under threat, it can be viewed as *not* being a threat, and so safe to allow trade to happen that way. I can't be the only one who views this as a little absurd. This is the setting's equivalent of the Silk Road and it literally just goes over a rope bridge so fragile that it can be sabotaged by anyone?

>>74468803>i made a new crest that better represent themThe colors must stand out more against each other, and the design must be simpler for a shield or banner design. What you've got there (in the central part) is closer to what the official seal of the Imperial Throne would look like.

>>74469248I'd guess. But i put note of them being this all good etc. to be contrasted with all evil slavers of Yugr. If both sides dabble in slavery, then it gets muddled, and not as good of mythical reality.Ofcourse its a myth, it could have been worse in reality, especialy if you compare it to their rival empire, because everything is better than that, but no written record remains out of those times, so id guess even if ogres were slaves even back then, no one remembers it, ogres could probably even think it was their paradise, and everything was downfall since. we wuzn't slaves n'shiet
>>74469134>It's not the settings equivalent to the Silk road, that's the pass further south trough Giant-land.But if it's a rope bridge that's so fragile that someone with a knife could ruin it, then there's no way that it's going to be capable of supporting even a single horse-drawn cart. The proposed rope bridge is so impractical for any sort of trade that the concept of trade happening at all is absurd. >>74469429>But if it's a rope bridge that's so fragile that someone with a knife could ruin it, then there's no way that it's going to be capable of supporting even a single horse-drawn cart. You'd be surprised at what a bridge can carry. And maybe there are people carrying things across rather than large carts. I don't even know if it is possible for carts to make it up to the pass. (Human bearers were a thing in mountainous parts of Earth; it's not fantastical to have a group of them here.)The bridge is kept so fragile because the two sides are paranoid about being invaded by the other. It's too valuable to close it over nothing, but nobody wants an army coming over. Assassins and small merc bands though...
>>74469577I too think its bad idea to not have fortified bridge over there. Only low tech civilizations on earth invested time to create rope bridges. Its better to have normal stone/wooden bridge, that can just be destroyed.
I Just started to upload the pictures from the archived threads. Thread 10 has been done, and uploaded to the mega and the wiki. It's a pain, but will pay off when we make the pdf. >>74469577I know that bridges can carry quite a bit, but there's a difference between a sturdy wooden or stone bridge and literally a flimsy rope bridge that can be sabotaged with a knife. Heck, I could even accept a slightly sturdier suspension bridge than that. But with it being this fragile, all it takes is a single prejudiced jerk or a minor accident to destroy the bridge.
No one asked for it but have a Chinese Pirate Glutton
>>74469784>all it takes is a single prejudiced jerk or a minor accident to destroy the bridge. And that happens from time to time. It's not too difficult to restore the bridge when the other side are cooperating and aren't trying to riddle you with arrows.
>>74469821It's also not much harder to create a more durable bridge with higher capacity than that, so that trade doesn't come to a standstill for weeks at a time. Measures can still be put in place to destroy the bridge in case either side goes on the offensive, support columns can be taken out with explosives or built-in mechanisms to collapse them.
>>74469784>>74469577It would be cool if it was like...Two halfway drawbridge. It's a sturdy wood and steel bridge, but either side can lift their half and make the chasm unpassable. It's quite metaphorical too, only works when both sides are cooperating and friendly.
>>74470571The proper term for that is a bascule bridge, but it could be cool.
Here is promised map of fighting styles and their general spread. Numbers are founding places, in left upper corner there are names of coresponding styles. In celestial empire they all end in spot of capital to show how important it is, even when it comes to martial arts.Styles that were added by me>Way of spiritFirst fighting style that menaged to extend human fighter abilities beyond his limits. Compared to later fighting styles its quite crude, but because of its primitivity as some snobish masters would say, most schools teach it first, as a basis for specialized training>Way of flame/stoneFocused mainly on offence/deffence, they are considered most pure fighting styles by people of Qu-Fi. Stone tries to use battlestances to its fullest potential, always trying to stand firmly, and put enemy out of balance. Flame tries to put enemy at disadvantage by attacking at the same time from multiple directions, utilizing whole body >Way of sun/moonBoth introduce weapons to flame style. Way of sun focuses on honor as a way to victory, and teaches how to use sword and shield, and how to utilize both to fullest offensive ability. Way of sun shields have reinforced, sharp edges. Way of moon hoever was created by hobgoblins as means to fight more numerous oponents. It favours cunning and secrecy, teaching stealth and how to use weapons of assasins.(1/2)>>74470571Maybe this bridge is something like bridge from this cinematic from diablo 2:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xp20voR11gsbut longer, and with same mechanism on two sides
>>74466108>>74463749Alright, map anon back, I've made a much cleaner blank map with no anti-aliasing so that anyone can do their own versions with no ugly borders and artifacting, plus I made it slightly bigger. I'll add features tomorrow and then begin on the up to date political map. Also, I just noticed a distinct lack of islands, most of them being concentrated around Belara and Black Sand Islands. Would anyone mind if I just dotted some islands around the map to spice it up a bit? I may have a thing for islands.
>Something that was deeply offensive to most of the cultures the Vikings encountered was that Vikings didn't worry too much about fidelity, even the women could shag around, and their husbands happily accepted the children as their own even if they knew they weren't the father.>The reason was quite simple. Keeping a child alive was difficult back then so any child that survived was a miracle, and people wanted big families, so if your wife had a child it was your right as the husband to keep it. The other loser could mob around with one child less to his name.I feel we could apply this to the Snow Elves culture
>>74470875That is pretty, neat. What is it useful for tho,? Feels bit late for it.
>>74470882This works if their culture doesn't value individual legacy as much as group/collective legacy. The reason why people bother about fidelity is to be sure of paternity, and the reason they bother with paternity has been mostly about ego. A primitive drive to pass on your own genes, and to see your genes flourish. While most species to be successful would have this drive, some cultures might have social pressure stronger than this drive, encouraging you not to care about your bloodline as much as it cares about tribal preservation. Then it becomes about seeing your clan flourish over other clans, rather than your seed over other people's seeds. However, there's a problem. Imagine you are a strong man. A weak guy impregnates your wife. For 9 months and a few after that, she will not be able to be impregnated by you, and upon birth, a weaker child is born. Said child is less likely to survive to adulthood, your wife risks her life at childbirth and you are robbed of the chance of having a kid. For this 'work' in a internally consistent way, they need would still dislike someone impregnating their wife, but it would be a minor nuisance rather than reason for a blood feud...And perhaps the anger is directly proportional to how 'worthy' the other guy is. Some ratty foreign gets all girls in the village pregnant? that's a big problem. Lack of genetic variety since next gen will be lots of half siblings and weak 'blood' (they likely don't know about genes) in the pool.Big chad claims your wife once and she gets pregnant? Sure whatever. Not nice but fuck it, at least your son will be a tough one.
>>74470745>Way of IronCreated by ogres to fight their opressors, it adapts powerstancing known from way of stone, while focusing on endurance, and strength training, and focusing on not defeating, but killing the enemy.>way of the steel fistCreated after Qu-fi humans were pushed from country second time in history, it was created to protect shortlived human-ogre kingdom. It disregarded more barbaric ways of iron, while still building on top of them. Steel fist style is still lethal, because of usage of metal gloves at all times. During turnaments and duels that are not suposed to be lethal, they are changed from steel, to copper or bronze ones.>Way of HarmonyCreated by ogre converts, way of harmony goes back in many ways to way of spirit. It encurages extensive preparation to each fights, and demands from its adherents total harmony with surroundings, from things like heat, to more metaphisical like animalisitc belief that everything has spirit. Because of this its borderline heretical, but allowed, mainly because way of harmony allows fighter to use spiritual energy to its fullest potential.>Way of flaming fistCreated by Grave Guard members and Drachne converts during into one of punitive raids against nexroswampers. Called this because during hight against undead users of this style put oil drenched cloth around their fists, and set it ablaze. Combined with extensive knowlege of undead atanomy of many kinds, and powerstancing from earlier schools teached to its members, it allows to fight undead in more effective ways than ever before. Even joining this way is hard, and because of this elitism its adherents are rare, but each of them is powerfull asset against undead.
>>74470939Our current world map is very crudely drawn. With that blank basis, a more artistic inclined anon could make a prettier map with better mountains and such. Also higher resolution means one could draw other countries with better borders
>>74470882It was already said that bastards of women become part of bloodline, but i assume fidelity is importand to elves, because they bond for life, so those bastards are still taboo. Also your idea was shoot down in last thread, and its too close to magical realm in my book.
>>74470939Well as mentioned with no anti-aliasing, anyone can make their own edits or versions of the map much more easily without having to deal with any ugly borders.I’m aware it’s late, I’ve been wanting to do this since I made the first clean map but at the time I didn’t wanna go back and redo the whole thing, I just wanted to push something out the door and then I after I finished the biome map, I felt a bit burned out. Besides, a lot of lore has been added in the mean time and I needed to make an updated political map anyway so might as well make it nicer now I have the chance.
So, there's a large island in the Westrasi Sea which belongs to the Farisian Republic. A guy who made a more in-depth map of the region called the island Beltagax. As the writer for the Farisian Republic, I didn't really write anything about the island and instead focused on the city of Faris as a merchant metropolis.Does anyone have any suggestions for what should be done with Beltagax?
>>74470745>Maybe this bridge is something like bridge from this cinematic from diablo 2 but longer, and with same mechanism on two sidesFirst of all, powerful Nostalgia moment. Second, Yes, I like that a lot.Third, Damn blizzard animations were good for the time but they look like shit now...And yet the way they are 'directed' is way cooler than nu-stuff. Or maybe it's nostalgia goggles.>>74470745Uraka has its own martial art called Saidan. Saidan is has a focus in fighting with a short staff (often a javelin) on hand to hand, and wrestling, which involves disarming, grappling and putting the enemy on a lock or pinning. This is mostly done because Internal wars between Urakese tribes tend to be very non-lethal, focused on injuring and capturing prisoners which are released after peace is negotiated. This is due to Sylbari low birth rate. In some cases 'wars' are fought just for practice, or more accurate what a foreigner thinks it's a war its more a ritualized 'war traning/tourney' between cities.Saidan isn't very useful for lethal or armored combat, though knowing how to fight is never bad, but bounty hunters and justicars sometimes learn Saidan for a Urakese Saidan-Mistress or someone who learned from them, as Saidan has a few 'fighting a armed foe when you are unarmed or just have a stick' moves. The Storm islands natives fight Bari-bari. Bari bari is a mixture between greco-roman wrestling and sumo. It's all about shoving your mass against someone and pushing them out of a circle.
>>74471300Maybe it was once holy site to some religion, but now most of the island fell to the nature, and presence of Farians on it receded in reality to just city and suroundings.
>>74471300Hrm...Maybe Beltagax fell under the republic simply by proximity but the people there live their own lives. A republic inside the republic, if you will...A bit like the Island of Man. They are formally part of the Farisian republic and pay their taxes but otherwise, the island isn't economically interesting for the Farisians to pay much attention to it, and Beltagax natives prefer to keep to themselves as well. They are almost self sufficient in resources, yet poor, so they have little to trade with. Beltagax also maybe that cliche place that's 'middle of nowhere' and in every fantasy movie, that's where the retired adventurer has a cabin in the woods where he lives a simple life.

>>74471333Does Saidan spread to some other countries, or is it more of purely local style? If yes then in which ones? And about cinematics - i can't agree more when it comes to just the way they tell the story. Now i feel blizzard tries to tell some overly convoluted narratives in flashy way. I doubt something like cinematic i linked, or the one where arthas goes to replace his father could be done as competent by modern blizzard as it was long ago.
>>74471485>So Way of the Sun for the Snow Elves and Grendarrym?I could spread it to them on map, or maybe they have their own variation on it?
>>74471482>If you want to sure, but I think that we should not try to add new lore, but to build up existing lore.I’m not gonna add any big islands that would significantly impact lore, just a few small coastal islands here and there to make it look more aesthetic.
>>74471511I'll roll for it.The Snow Elf version of the Way of the Sun is a spear and sharpened shield combo system.Magical lineage is separate from bloodline and transferred via ritual and artifact possession i.e shields and such.Open trolls.
>>74471099Don't Jews have that as long as the mom is Jewish, the kids are Jewish, because it's harder to know whose nut impregnated her, but it's not hard to figure out from which vagina they plopped out of?There's also the questions of heirs, where the lineage matters. One thing stories sometimes get wrong is to think marrying a queen makes you a king. Royalty follows the royal bloodline. That's why Elizabeth II is queen but her husband is a prince and would not inherit the throne if she died.
>>74471624Does this Elven way of the sun have some other name, or only change is inclusion of spear?
>>74471492Funny, Arthas scene was the one I was also thinking about too. Pure unironically brutal. Funny how they could just as easily swinged towards dark fantasy back then with Warcraft too.As for Saidan, I like to think that it spreads to Terravia, Belara and Morloux, as they have more reason to aprehend criminals alive or care for it, and in a minor level, to the Saremese Kingdom and Sarkation Empire.I also like to think that maybe somebody introduced Saidan to the giants and they created the school of Na-Saidan, which adapts to their larger size and weight but uses the same grappling principles. So it finds some presence in the Halfling-Giant Alliance.
>>74471099So does it work or not? Though I'd argue that a member of your tribe would hardly be considered weak, otherwise he himself wouldn't have survived childhood, even less adulthood. >>74471171I mean those very same elves have statues made with bodily fluids, have smut drawn (which became what mainly people think they look like) and have a ritual where they dance with their asses bare... and you think what I added was magical realm? >>74471485Who are they?I appreciate your analysis though.
>>74471816The analysis part was meant for the first post
>>74471638Well, actually along cultures and history those things chance a lot, but you are absolutely right about the jews. It's part of why they have the stereotype of being mama's boys. The woman has an added importance on the bloodline. The "it's easier to know which vagina is plopped out of" is also a reason why, when you read a old Celtic tale, you'll often her a lot about the main character's 'uncle' on his sister side. Cuchulainn wasn't the 'son' of the king. He was the nephew. There are other examples, but the reason is because in old Celtic culture, they often paid a lot of attention to their nephews on sister side because while your son might not be your blood, your sister's son sure is.As for succession, you are right again, titles follow the blood line, and marrying the Queen doesn't -always- make you king. However, it's confusing to talk about this because there's no 'princess-consort'. The King's wife is always the Queen, but the Queen's husband can be the 'prince-consort'. The ruling monarch will pass the crown to their bloodline, and in the absence of an heir, usually instead of the husband, the crown goes to a sibling, then cousin. Except in many cases, succession law was overwritten by the guy who was close to the throne pressing his case with force of arms.As someone who studied history please send food , I can tell you unironically that playing crusader kings will tell you more about monarchies than an actual university degree...Or perhaps not, because you might lack the tools to interpret it, but still.
It's cool like we have some anons who are autistic about different topics so if you overlay the ethnics map with the political map, martial arts map, climate map, etc, you can pick any region of the planet and suddenly you know who lives there, what they speak, what country they belong to, how they fight, who they pray to. Judging from the mountainous terrain, it's probably not that arable so its urban population might need to get food imported to sustain itself, which allows Faris to keep a stranglehold on this. I'll probably give them something to make up for it though, such as a tin mine which the locals could use to make ornaments and trinkets out of pewter. Despite this, there's still probably a few coves here and there which are used by smugglers and pirates. If I had to chose a real life location to inspire its geography, it would probably be Thasos, in the Aegean Sea. >>74474201Excerpt from the lizardfolk portion. Will post the beastmen one next. Superstition, Folklore and Outlooks on LifeWhile culture isn't as pronounced in lizardfolk they have some stories and superstitious beliefs that they share and hold onto. The Lizardfolk Known as BehemothAmong the Swamp lizardfolk there exists a belief of an ancient lizardfolk far larger and more dangerous than any other lizardfolk to ever live. In their tongue they call him Behemoth, and the Swamp lizardfolk believes he still lives to this day. As a lizardfolk eats, they grow larger, stronger, and their skin and bone become thicker. Behemoth is believed to be hundreds of years old and Swamp lizardfolk surmise that in that lifespan he has eaten plenty of things. By imperial measurements Behemoth is roughly 20 feet tall, with scales and bones thick enough to be impervious to harpoons or crossbow bolts. Swamp lizardfolk believe Behemoth roams the deepest swamps and makes his home in the most silent of areas. When asked why he would reast in the most silent swamp they explained that all life would know to steer clear of where Behemoth sleeps. When they were asked how they know Behemoth still lives they say they sometimes hear his hissing in the middle of the night. As lizardfolk grow their hisses grow deeper in tone. Behemoth's hisses are allegedly so deep that his hiss is felt moreso than it is heard. When asked if anyone has seen Behemoth they were quick to respond with no. For anyone who has laid their eyes on Behemoth would not live to tell the tale.(1/?)
>>74474263The Third EyeAmong Saltwater lizardfolk there exists a phenomenon described as a third eye awakening in their dreams. They describe this third eye as something that can show them the spirits of the living things around them. It should be made clear that Saltwater lizardfolk see spirits differently than how we would conventionally see it. Spirits are not disembodied figures that had once existed within a mortal vessel, spirits are instead seen as the essences of living things left on other living things and objects. The more a living thing interacts with an object the stronger the spirit is imprinted onto that object. These spirits guide the lizardfolk in their dreams, acting as a prophetic vision for them. Through their third eye and the dreams they have navigated underwater caves that they have never entered before, warned them of encroaching warbands allowing them to escape to sea before they are caught, and found other Saltwater lizardfolk communes. While these anecdotes sound impressive there is zero hard proof regarding the existence of this third eye. It doesn't matter to the Saltwater lizardfolk though whether you believe this phenomenon to be true or not.(2/?)
>>74474282The Outlooks on Life of a Desert LizardfolkDesert lizardfolk are natural drifters, never staying in one place all throughout their life. Over the lifespan of a Desert lizardfolk they can visit many different places due to their capability of travelling long distances. The most well traveled have been to many different nations, and some pick up jobs as couriers. In their travels they come across people of different backgrounds, cultures and walks of life. Because of this each Desert lizardfolk develops their own unique outlook on life. Some adopt theologies of cycle and rebirth, some believe in the powers of kingdoms long lost. Some may even adopt imperialist notions, bringing civilization to tribes they come across. Some reject the idea of having cities and nations, believing them to be a source of corruption and turning their backs on nature. Whatever the outlook, it's bound to be different each time you come across a Desert Lizardfolk.(3/?)
>>74474297Excerpt from the beastmen pageReligionEach subrace have different focuses in their lives and this is reflected in their religions.Tree WorshipFor the Beastmen minisculis their entire livelihood is given to them by trees. Trees provide these beastmen shelter, a source of food, a place to store food and a safer highway for travel compared to moving along the ground. It comes to no surprise then that they understand that trees and do their best to nurture them. Beastmen minisculis manually trim diseased leaves and promote sapling growth by bringing water in moss bundles and providing worms to tend to their soil. The most devout also protect saplings by eating the insects that feed on their leaves. They can't do much about larger creatures trampling saplings however.Cult of CubeBeastmen canis worship a metallic cube whose origins, allegedly, come from The Cursed Wasteland. A prophet of this cube was responsible for the spread of this cult to the majority of the Beastmen canis population that resides in the Marshes of Drache. However this prophet was not an outsider but rather one of the Beastmen canis that saw this cube in a dream. The cube is a god of war, each of it's sides covered in ancient weaponry whose only desire is to spill blood. In exchange for worship the cube granted them favor upon the battlefield. Not much else is known about the cube as those who hear of it are the ones on the receiving end of an attack from the cult of cube.(4/5)
>>74474320Waste Not Want NotFar from being a properly established religion but rather a collection of customs and principles that the Beastmen rotundus have gathered over their years of interaction with other inhabitants of the Marshes of Drache. Beastmen rotundus practice a lifestyle that seeks to make the most of their resources. For every animal carcass they bring they make use of every single part of the carcass. They also pray thanks every meal as honor to the animals butchered. Every tree cut down is replaced with seeds of another. Even their dead is burned to ash to be reused as food for the plants in the soil. Beastmen rotundus serve no gods and do not believe in concepts of afterlife or rebirth.(5/5)
Added some molemen lore for 15 seconds as I added images to the wiki because they really need it. Here it is, it might suck. Not 100% about the females not having breasts part, because the females would most likely be bare chested like the males and that is a bit magical realm for me. You could just throw a shirt over both of them and call it a day though. Deformed Humans which live in the ancient Vaults of the World Spine. They are an important part of most Technobarbarian Tribes. Their most defining feature is their star nose, which forms when they reach middle age and grows as they grow older. An elder moleman has a fully formed starnose. They are considered a sign of great wisdom. Those that have fully formed noses are called Starried and are the de facto leader in any moleman group.Molemen live longer than humans, to about 100 - 120 years. They are short, with most moles never going past 5 ft. Their shortness is favorable, as they can squeeze into tight places and require less food. The main diet of the moleman are insects and tuber vegetables, which they grow. There are female molemen, but they are almost impossible to distinguish from the males without looking at their genitals, as they do not have breasts. >>74474263Looks good, thanksAdded all of the images from thread 9. Thank you anon who added all of the crests.>>74474623I would say that is a bad design choice. Also added this bit for the twin cities, thoughts?Along with the racial culture of the oni, the twin cities have their own unique culture. To flaunt their wealth, the richest oni will fund their own performance troupe, which they send out to compete with other troops to flaunt their power. Anying exotic and outlandish is happily welcome, and so these troops are made up of a mix of races from humans to trolls. Even merfolk and other rare creatures can be found, albeit only for the biggest and best troupe. Along with the usual troupe skills, members usually are proficient in fighting, magic, and thievery. It is common for rival troops to underhandedly attack or sabotage each other. While illegal, these hits are seen as calculated risks to be seen as the best by their viewers, and in extension their boss.

Vashian Republic - additional notes:Recent Events:4988 - First Citizen Glashin Verrun steps down in favor of his niece Herika Verrun, who, though only 28 at the time, quickly becomes loathed by rulers and diplomats throughout the Westrasi Sea region for her sharp tongue, razor wit, and keen political instincts.4988 - First Citizen Herika Verrun calls the Ambassador of Terravia a "commune-ist peasant". The Terravian Ambassador is defenestrated into a pigsty after calling Herika a "monarchist harlot". 4990 - The Vashian Republic helps Araxia invade Sarcia. The two year war is inconclusive, though the Republic does receive several trade concessions from Araxia.4991 - The Vashian Republic begins a long series of minor skirmishes with the halflings and giants over the right to post watch towers along the border wall between Midnat and the Yoroi Tribelands.4993 - A regional shortage of bronze leads "mercenaries" from the Vashian Republic to team up with soldiers from Suezi, and actual mercenaries from the Farisian Republic in order to set up illegal mines in Uraka. They are eventually driven out by soldiers from Terravia supporting local horsewomen, though the Republic denies official involvement. 4993 - First Citizen Herika Verrun causes a minor scandal when she uses massive amounts of public funds to build massive mausoleums for each of her three pet tigers (none of whom are anticipated to pass away soon, Ranji Tigers can live for over four decades).4994 - The Vashian Republic boycotts the Annual Westrasi Sea Grand Tourney on moral/religious grounds because it is being held in the Uroxian Federation. Instead they hold their own tourney. One of the star events, a non-lethal spear fighting match between Sanukinuiq adventuress Anyu Pikatti and Maaga warrir Naji the Impaler, attracted an audience of over 20,000.
>>74477020Recent Events (continued):4995 - The Vashian Republic is bribed by Suezi to help blockade Voroi as an initial step in a potential invasion, while also secretly receiving massive bribes from Farisian based mercenary companies for making the war possible, and secretly receiving even more massive bribes for providing certain Bertranox merchants with information on how to bypass the blockade. They are then bribed by Terravia, Uraka, and the Veranese Citystates to not participate in the actual invasion. The Vashian Republic continued to receive bribes (in the form of trade concessions, coinage, raw material, political leverage, etc.) from all six parties for the whole 16 month blockage period as the Suezi alternate between trying to get neutral states to join the invasion, and trying to get Terravia, Uraka, and the Veranese Citystates to withdraw their support from Voroi. In the end, the invasion was cancelled, and First Citizen Herika Verrun was awarded with a Peace Prize by the Vashian Government for "enabling Suezi to express its grievances with the Voroi via methods other than war".4996 - A previously legendary krakyn is spotted sinking a cargo ship off the coast near Helias. Hundreds of eye witnesses finally confirm the existence of the beast.4998 - Yoroi Separtists score a notable propaganda victory when they drug an entire unit of Vashian soldiers and leave them bound and naked in a field.(I will add more as events in the Westrasi Sea area are fleshed out)
>>74476723Looks good to me anon!>>74477020Ooooo yes. This is very, very good anon. I do wonder what she was covering up when she built those mausoleums...I think I have a candidate for my upcoming one shot, thanks! Also, I added the images from thread 8. Also, the treant race never got any lore! Guess everyone just had their own headcanon and no one bothered to fill it in. Well, here I go taking a crack at it at midnight. Good thing it’s friday.Treants are sentient, tree-like beings that mainly reside in the Treant Empire, although they can be found elsewhere. Treants look like trees that grew legs and a face. They are very large creatures, usually ranging from 10 - 20ft. Because treants never stop growing, bigger heights can be achieved, with sizes being reported up to 60ft tall. However, for a treant to reach that size they would have to be a little over a thousand years old. Treants can hypothetically never die, but after 280 - 350 years the difficulty to maintain a working body and a sound mind becomes very hard, killing almost all treants. Any treant managing to live past this age and somehow survive would lose their sanity and become unable to move at all. The death of a Treant, referred to as falling down, is regarded as a natural and respectable part of life.No one knows for sure how Treants were created. Ancient history tells of Gloria-Etalia making treants to serve them and tame nature for civilisation. >(1/2)
>>74477177Necrotic TreantsIn the Rams Head, there is a fungal parasite called Trunk Blight that kills trees. Trunk Blight is small and moss-like, with the pigmentation of red rust. For normal trees, these fungus is slow acting as it feeds off of the tree, and does not kill it until after decades. For treants however once seeded the fungus is fast acting and can kill a Treant in a matter of days. There is no way to remove the fungus except by amputation, which is often fatal for a treant affected on the main trunk. It’s method of spreading by constantly releasing spores that glide around the tree makes an affected treant deadly to be around other treants at a close distance. When a treant is killed by Trunk Blight after a few hours (3-12) the corpse undergoes a curious effect. It reanimates, and tries to spread the fungus by affecting other trees and treants. These Uncontained, an outbreak of tree blight in a treant dense area can be potentially catastrophic. Necrotic Treants do not need to eat, or sleep, and seem to lose all mental functions. A Necrotic Treant looks like a regular Treant except they are mostly covered in Trunk Blight. Their eyes also rot out of their sockets, leaving empty holes where they once were. Their faces permanently sag open, and the body starts to decompose slightly.

>>74471485>>74471624>What society do Trolls haveTrolls don't have a "society" per se. They are nomads travelling in patriarchal packs made up of their own family or, more often alone. Each family has its own history and traditions. When a young troll is deemed large enough to fend for itself it is forced from the pack to fend for itself. Females will not live with males, preferring to live with their female kin or alone but often in a more sedentary style than males with a wide territory. Old trolls cease nomadic behavior and instead bully young trolls into gathering food for them. Young trolls will often "prank" anyone they manage to sneak up on by throwning large rocks at them from above or felling trees in the path of caravans. A troll's sense of mischief is often petty and cruel. Only with age do trolls engage in more lighthearted tricks, saving their wickedness for those who cross them. When a troll pack happens upon a den of females they are often manipulated into completing various tasks and/or surrendering much of what they have for the opportunity to start their own pack. Infant trolls are thrust upon the male that sired them and harassed from the den to raise them far away. Old trolls will bellow from great elevations when they feel it is time to celebrate, worship or go to war. This is the only time many packs and dens will gather in one place. Troll numbers typically increase exponentially after a troll gathering. It is at this time that younger trolls might challenge older ones for supremacy, often ending in failure simply due to an elder's immense size but clever trolls have been known to win against less senior elders. The winner will lay claim to the elder's domain and the subservient packs and dens therein becoming an elder in name if not in age. Elders are expected to remember all of their race's history, even if they can't, and to warn of any potential threats to the trolls of their domain.
>>74477468What I'm picturing>Trolls barking "bruh" at each other>Male trolls literally simping over female trolls that have either shape changed or magic'd themselves to look like elves with tales>Male troll getting a litter of dog-sized baby trolls shoved into his arms and nagged out of a den of ugly female trolls only to realize he needs to feed these things before they eat him in his sleep>Troll woodstock happening and everyone within earshot packing up and leaving before they're eaten>An exhausted troll the size of an elephant watching his pack of chimp sized trolls as they swarm over a mammoth.>Angsty teenage trolls thinking its cool to throw boulders at carriages>Old trolls drinking barrels of mead and throwing their empties at the nearest female to get them anotherThey're delightfully awful
>>74477468I think its been mentioned that trolls like music, alcohol, games and "mischief" for lack of a better word. They're like a roaming band of soccer fans mixed with gangs mixed with neckbeard.
>>74477400I went ahead and did some dryad lore anyways. If other people had interpretations they wanted to use, we can try to reconcile them.Dryad:Dryads are one of the most recognizable servants of the Treant Empire, used as shock troops, sentinels, envoys, administrators of human vassal tribes, and arcanists.Creation:It is believed they were designed long ago by the treants to be the perfect servant race. No one is entirely sure how the original dryads were originally created, or even how new ones are made. Although dryads (who almost always appear female) will sometimes marry humans and elves, the process by which the offspring of these relations are born is shrouded in mystery. All dryads are said to be born "from the soil" and have a "kin tree", though it is unknown how literal this is. It has long been rumored that treants can create new dryads when needed by using powerful magic to transform willing volunteers. It is also rumored that some are transformed against their will instead.Appearance:Dryads are natural shapeshifters who can shift from an almost human appearance to an appearance similar to their treant masters within seconds, though they often present as a blend of these two forms. Some believe that when a treant is exerting control over a dryad, she temporarily presents some of her more tree like features, while others see this as a sign they are trying to suppress emotions.
>>74478335dryads continued:Abilities:Dryads have an intimidating range of natural abilities thanks to the nature of their creation. Among the more common abilities are:- Camouflage - Dryads can shape shift into a wide range of tree-like shapes, and also change the color of their skin or bark at will, allowing themselves to almost flawlessly resemble a tree, rock, or simply blend in with the ground.- Pheromones - Dryads can release a wide range of pheromones in order to manipulate the behavior of humans, elves, and animals, among others. Some human vassals are said to have been altered to make them extra susceptible to pheromones.- Plant Growth - Dryads can use the strange magic of the treants to cause rapid plant growth, useful for agriculture, slowing opponents, and expanding the boundaries of the great forests.- Durability - Dryads are very durable, particularly against piercing weapons, and also able to rapidly regenerate wounds.
>>74478402dryads continued:Varieties:"Vassal Dryads" are by far the most common. Despite popular belief, dryads have free will, but are usually indoctrinated to be fanatical to the Treant Empire's cause. When in human lands for long enough, a handful of dryads have broken this indoctrination. However, such individuals must keep far from any treant, since it is widely known that treants have the ability to control dryads directly if needed. Even those with only trace amounts of dryad ancestry are sometimes known to fall under treant influence despite having strong allegiances to other causes. As senior vassals of the Treant Empire, dryads work closely with wood elves (who themselves have some traits in common with the dryads), as well as vassal human tribes."Civilized Dryads" can occasionally be found in Morloux and other regions. As mentioned above, some deserted the Treant cause willingly, but most descend from those that were enslaved by Morloux by unknown means. Many find the docile dryads of Morloux to be a strange contrast to the savage shock troops and enforcers of the Treant Empire, and suspect that the "civilized treants" of Morloux are still exerting some level of influence on them."Rogue Dryads" without any apparent treant masters, are sometimes encountered in forests of around the world, though particularly in the Sisilian region. Some believe these are unrelated beings with similar appearance and abilities."Zombie Dryads" are surprisingly common in many parts of the world. Some are created by natural diseases like the Trunk Blight, which also effects treants. Others are created by treant necromancers like Foul Sap of Sisilia, or Brittletwig of the Necroswampers, using foul parodies of the dryad creation and control processes used by normal treants.
>>74477425There is already map of radmir, you should base yoyr map on what was already created
>>74476924Sorry, but i think that there is lack of sense of scale. Maybe try againg with bigger map?
Are the treants aware of the naivety of their ultimate goal of turning everything into plants? The last time the earth was mostly plants the plants choked themselves out as there wasn't enough carbon dioxide to go around. Given that the current Treant Kingdom has striking similarities of Carboniferous period Earth I could see them making the same mistake.

Also maybe expand a little on this split between two different sides of council, and add more of bio of current leader, because right now we know only his name, and that he must have been prestigious member of this society.

But as a saying goes here "A quarter of the Empire lives on sea!".The towns surrounded by a square are protected by a colossal "Cyclopean" type wall, a type of architecture invented by a scholar from Ilion at the end of the Treants wars."Ev" and "ow" at the end of city names means "city" but come from two different dialects, the "West" dialect and the "East" dialect which the latter has already disappeared among the elites. Unless "ow" means "new town" or "border city", who knows ...I will also make a map of the founding cities of the league.

Principality of Suezi - Additional notesRecent events:1958 - Beggining of civil war between sons of Old Duke Commustus, Principality split in four between Sonstantinus, Majsarus, Commustus the second and Palagalus.1967 - Due to devastation of country caused by civil war, City of Talassa declares independence from all sides, trying to recreate state that existed before its conquest by Commustus, refusing invitation to join union with from Veranesse Leauge. 1968 - Last forces of Commustus II are destroyed, he tries to escape the country by boat with his family and closest advisors, ship gets set ablaze by assasins.1978 - Both Palagalus and Majsarus die on field of battle fighting each other. Their sons take power over lands of their fathers. 1986 - Repetive raids by vorioi that happned since beggining of war end in full blown invasion, during which dies son of Palaginus. To this day political enemies of Astrator acuse him of paying Vorioi to do so, and then assasinating chiefs he entered pacts with, but no proof for such activity ever sufraced.4990, early - Sonstantinus dies poisoned. His only son Astrator crowns himself Prince of Suezi, even thought city itself is held by rival forces of son of Majsarus .4990, late - Astrator begins his campaing against Majsarus, atacks city of Suezi, and storms it after four months of siege, killing his enemy, and uniting nation. Very next day he declares Suezi secular nation, and confiscates church of Divine Duality lands.4991, early - Prince starts reformation of army and administration.4991, late- Prince stops confiscation of land unfinished, and restores relations with church, but keeps separation of state and religion. 4992 - Prince attacks Talassa city-state, conquers and sacks it, inviting veterans of civil wawr to settle on conquered land. Using captured gold he starts creation of landforts along sealine, to make hostile landfall almost imposible, and encircles Suezi with four sets of giant brick walls

>>744844884994 - Astrator names himself Tetrarch Heir of Empire of Verani empire, and annouces his ambition to unite all land that was once belonging to this monolith. He also finishes reformation of army, and leading his legions attacks tribes surounding Buraga city, and integrates them to principality.4995 - Suezi attacks wildlands to the north of its border, defeats tribes living there, and creates collony of Marcosa. Next Astrator leads his forces to Semenza, but nobility of this city peacefully allows annexation of it, and because of this city is not sacked. 4996-7 - Suezi prepares to attack voroi tribelands, but due to coalition forces stopping invasion before it could happen, Princedom does not push north.4998 - Astrator wife births his son, who gets named after his father. Princedom in secret starts preparation to attack Veranese Citystates.4999 - New source of gold is found near city of Vixel. Geologists assume this could be one of greatest motherlodes of this mineral arround the sea. Prince already used funds from it to expand his army, and further invest into standarization of equipment, and technological advancment in field of warfare.

>>74486083When writting both og principality lore, and this i was thinking about is similiary. Gloria-Etalia is a planet in galaxy, or atleast universe similiar to our own, with humans that evolved in similiar way to us, both in phisique and culture (existence of all the amusement parks in World Scar coresponding to earth-like franchises). Additionaly many races exist in the cosmos, not just humans as proven by Gloria and Etalia space ships that were steered by what is known on planet as elves. But when we go to Metaphisical cosmology things get dicey, and really spread apart.Ok so there exist souls, proven by fact you can sell your soul, bind it to item, or (what leads to next point) become part of bigger amalgamation, like Miracle of Creation, that was created by both emotions (like pain, hatered) created in mopment of apocalipse ending first age and souls of people killed during that event. There exist gods, but not all are real. I'd assume most gods are superstitions, like Gloria-Etalia, while some of them are real "true" Gods, with powerfull, albeit distant influence on the world I'd sugest to read Miracle of Creation entry in gods, and Apotheosis of First Prophet entry on Radmir page if you want to have a feel how powerfull they can be. (1/2)>>74487521Im glad we understood each other. Don't worry, i try not to be too invasive when writting, especialy when it comes to other anons countries. Im more confortable to add something, and then allow others to build on top of it, like with Necroswampers lich lord's comunal effort, that i think turned out preety good.
>>74487294so far it seems to be more of an order vs disorder theme. On one hand you got gods of civilization and order like Gloria-Etalia, the Heaven King, etc, and on the other you got everyone else, who kind of run the gauntlet of pagan to outright evil. Some pantheons feature a blend of the two. Some areas also have a post-apoc theme / low fantasy theme, while others are classic fantasy which makes having one coherent cosmology difficult.

>>74466108>We need a map for our fantasy setting>Just put a map of Oriental Russia with some stuff added on
>>74487896It was randomly generated tard-anon
>>74487742>>74487294When it comes to demons or devils there are multiple entities belived to be demons by people on gloria-etalia, that not really fit "demon from hell" description, like fire elementals in world scar. Other times people call demons beings that can, and do dabble in soul pacts, like soul of vulcano in Radmir. beyond that i don't think there was stated to be any kind of afterlife conected by pure "demons from hell".When it comes to dimesions and planes, thats the biggest blank. All i can really remember is that Miracle of Creation was born and exists in some kind of void, and from there can manifest in real word. When it comes to magic it probably is connected somehow to nature vs civilization theme, or maybe even order vs disorder, like some anon already noted. More chaotic regions look like they produce more mages, and id say the more pure magical is region it tends to get dark really fast (treants and their magical experimentation, and plans to eradicate civilization, drachne land literred with curses abd undead) while more orderly lands like celestial empire are mostly devoid of magic.I think i didn't missed anything, and if i did, sorry.Hope that helps.

>>74485726Alright, I'm gonna be honest and say that I bit off more than I can chew here. I am a bit out of my depth with trying to create a wargaming system, so I'll just give the few vague ideas that I had.>WestrasiHeavier reliance on infantry than most of the rest of the world. Pike squares and Landsknechts are primary infantry units, with some extra crossbowmen. Cavalry is less important, but for the cavalry that is present, the majority is heavy cavalry as the Euraxian Knights. I was also maybe thinking of crossbow dragoons, but I don't know, it feels like a stupid idea.>Khanate and Ordes Very similar mechanically, with a high emphasis on mobility and cavalry. Probably use horse archers, and I remember that the Khanate was supposed to have a heavy emphasis on illusion magic. I don't really know what "special emphasis" I should give to the Ordes as a specialty, but hopefully someone can think of something. And that was all that I could really think up. I also had a few ideas for some more technical rules, but I need to think a bit more about that before they will be understandable to anyone else.
>>74485604I added the pages and maked the old ones for deletion. Dletion has to be done by the wiki owner or an approved admin, which is currently Viorp, I think.>>74486416Looks good to me. Thanks!>>74486707I raise you 50, and the loser has to buy the other two dinner.>>74487294Naught one. I'd have half a mind to leave it alone to let the module fill in, but I think we should have at least the basis if you want to take a crack at it. I'm going to make a world category pretty soon on the wiki to put stuff like that. We needed a place for the martial arts anyways.
Thread 7 picture transfer done, now time to do thread 6.If anyone needs anything to do, go through the wiki pages for the nations and add to those that need standardisation. You would be surprised what needs lore. For example our northen elf friend's nation.
>>74479672I agree with your point of not making lichdom too common, perhaps we should make members of the inner council other types of undead? For the split, my take is that the group is alike to the Forsaken's Alchemist Guild in WoW, but with people studying magic, and people trying to make stuff that could survive the land and the poisons they create. I haven't got more initially, my steam is running out on making unique interesting liches for now (help welcomed).>>74485285>>74485300Should it be updated in the dragon section too?>Now I'm reminded I should perhaps update lore on the Arakneas, especially religion since I got ideas... meh, maybe later...>Got an idea for fauna in the Midland: >Flying spiders>Those are small spiders that creates nest that flies with the wind, guided towards other nests of insects or small animals. Those spiders produce a gas lighter than air that they stock in bublles of web around the nest. They maneuver their nest by aligning or popping the bubbles. The gas is created via their digestive system and located in the center of their abdomen. They were first discovered when a nest collided in someone's face, resulting in a horrible death.>Idea for martial art>Path of Mud and Clay>This fighting style focused on really close combat, grapples and chokes, and dodging. Often called "Flexible style", it prioritize getting as close to your adversary as you can, barely leaving it any space to move and react at all, while you can strike without harm. Masters of this style can be mere millimiters from their targets and attack with a swift flurry of blows. It also has an emphasis to adapt your movements and positioning to the opponent.
>>74483324Dang man, i had a hand in Grendarrym and my whole idea was trying to twist them to NOT be Not!Vikings. Guess i failed>>74482236I love the ambiguity of treant influence over humanity and the world - it seems like the tribes are mostly pretty satisfied with the arrangement. And they number among the low-tech 'barbarian' peoples, which i feel was the/a original spirit of the world.Wyrdlands Waste Worldscar and Windhell are the four W's of beautifully pure Gloria & Etalia
>>74488723>I was also maybe thinking of crossbow dragoons, but I don't know, it feels like a stupid idea. Not stupid at all, as long as you understand how dragoons worked. They weren't horseback gunners, they were mounted infantry armed with long guns who could fight with swords from horseback when it was necessary. There's no reason why you couldn't do that with crossbows instead. Hell, the most famous crossbowmen of Europe, the Genoese, used horses for greater mobility and dismounted when they had acquired an advantageous position.
>>74490029> Wyrdlands Waste Worldscar and Windhell are the four W's of beautifully pure Gloria & EtaliaBased slogan

>>74489899Its ok, you already did great job with some of those liches, lets give other anons a chance. So this alchemist society (maybe Dead Alchemy Society?) would be split between alchemist's and mages. That's an one interisting organization, for sure. Maybe Balthazar was chosen because he rose throught ranks of both alchemists and mages, and kinda represents both groups interests. When it comes to council being made up of different kinds of undead i very much like it. Like there could be one abomination-like council member that stitched himself together from many achemists as an (semi succesfull) experiment to unify conciousnes, one wraith that now withouth worry about his mortal body can create most acidic, and biohazardous potions on planet, and many more.About this martial art, should it be exolution of one of previous ones, or something created ground up? Also where should i put its founding place on map?
>>74473629Nah, rollain is patrician. This is lore combat, son.>>74477468>>74477651>>74477677Punk hooligan trolls. Many yes. >>74474201No clue what the danger level for the memetic signs is. Let's roll for them! That is my answer to everything, by the way. Adding some protective and easy to get hospitality lineages that Snow Elves share with outsiders is a good hotfix. Besides, the Snow Elf spirit signs are only active due to Snow Elves constantly wailin on their humanoid bone flutes. Grendarrym is now full of some of these patterns (which are sound/light), but they don't gots da humanoid bone flutes to activate the effects.>>74475512Open sez me. Spirit Possession effects go!>>74477183I cleaned up the baseline 4chan post-voting system so dubs/trips/quads opens a stated topic to 10 additions. Topics auto-close after 10 odd responses. The low probability for opening via dubs/etc means that good chunk of anons will have to keep appending open topic X to open it. Without stuff like that, this will collapse into pet projects, personality autism and wiki-fights see here: >>74468049Now that I think of it, removal should work similarly.Snow Elf Lineages (8/10) 2 spots remaining. There is a hospitality lineage of "Guest" that gives protective effects for the common used memetic/spirit patterns used by Snow Elves. This is easy to acquire by everyday interactions but has to be ranked up to protect from the esoteric and private Snow Elf juju.Voluntarily taking a curse from the Snow Elf Spirits on behalf of the locals has a hereditary result on the taker. Results vary depending on the curse, but the usage of troll tail decorations as a sign of status among Snow Elves implies that some curses required regenerative powers to survive. The cursed lineages can gain an equivalent level favor, but only with the village that it took the curse from. Calling in the favor dispels the effect and signs of the curse and places it back on the village in reduced form.
>>74487294>>74487967I'd kind of like it if most of the cosmology was left vague, undiscovered. The necromancers might have some idea of an underworld, the oni should know something of demons, whether they have their own plane or exist in the underworld. The trolls and Vargr worship "Veles" that lords over the underworld. An old network like the matrix would be interesting as a sort of technological plane that the tech priests interact with. There should be other planes but again I don't think they should be entirely mapped out. You lose some of the mystery.
>>74489899If you want to.>>74490029I think that while they were at first vikings, they have turned into something different. So congrats, you have succeed.>>74490670(New idea for worldbuilding. We keep this conversation going and we mention something about the nation. Cultural, political, economic, it doesn't matter. All lore relates to the Araxian Kingdom. Subutex for the conversation can be added if needed, to keep the conversation flowing smoothly without lore dumping. Anyone interested? I think it will be fun).Wonderful, now if you would please pardon my leave my carriage has just arrived. I must say, I just very recently acquired some young and proper bulls to pull it and they work like beasts on the reigns. I trust you have been invited to King Ribbsworth’s state dinner tomorrow? I hear he is going to unveil his new diplomatic policies, and it would be a terrible tragedy if you were not there for it, my good friends.(Contex, instead of using horses which are not naturally native to Araxia, the nation has taken to using a subspecies of bull that is lean and fast. Evolving to charge for long distances, the Araxian Running Cow (Bos Cursus) can run as nearly as fast as a horse. It has long, thick curved horns that go over and above his face, which the bull uses to ram into their opponents after building up speed by charging them. This long distance charge is made possible by the flat plainsland that makes up most of the Araxian Kingdom. King Ribbsworth is the ruler of Araxia.)
>>74491067Good take on the undeads! If Balthazar was chosen as an intermediate between every factions within the guild, being a lich won't save his skin if he favors too much one specific group or leave too many unsatisfied. Especially with those experts in killing every life and the mages. For the martial art, I am not sure. It's something we came up for an Attack on Titans game me and some friends played. My character Noah Yeager was specialized in killing humans, and with this martial art he was practically untouchable and he could strike faster than the enemies could react. I don't suppose we have a similar style or that we have Not!Germany ? Or whatever/wherever the island in AoT is?
>>74471485>Zar'kal the Troll became a Snow ElfHe did this for Snelf booty didn't he? Or just for the lols?Either way it falls in line with this >>74477468 depiction of them.
>>74491441How important are the horns in that culture? Do they cut them off for speed and practicality or do they groom and decorate them?
>>74485284>small disrepanciesI am very happy for you to fix them. The names evolved because some of the early ideas just didn't work quite well enough once the fluffing got busy.
>>74490029>my whole idea was trying to twist them to NOT be Not!Vikings. Guess i failedAh, but I want them to be more inspired by what actually happened with Vikings and Norway, and not by the idiotic BS that most people associate with "Vikings". There's all sorts of really cool things that we can borrow from reality, give a lick or two of fantasy paint, and drop in there for people to discover.
>>74491441Oh didn't you hear? Party was called off after it turned out this morning, that son of King was captured by pirates! Whole capital is talking that thats another provocation by Farisians, but i personally thing it must be unrelated to them. That would most likely lead to war, and who would be unise enought to fight might of our kingdom?! Oh, sorry i might have been carried away a little, have a nice ride, and Bull watch over you.(Bull watch over you is now mostly forgotten saying in Araxia, nowdays used by old money aristocracy. It meaning is preety strightforward, and is reflected in other nations by standard god/gods watch over you, but no one really knows why Araxians replace god with Bull in this saying.)
>>74491582Im sure he will do just allright. Tommorow i'l try to flesh out him, and his organization. As for not!germans nothing comes to my head. But maybe fire style could reflect this hyperagresive stance? Maybe it evovled somwehere in westrasi after oceanic woyages became commonplace?
>>74493012I'm down with that!
>>74491673They groom and decorate them, but no more than the bull itself. They definitely don't cut them off, as they are seen as too special and bulls become docile and submissive when they are cut off, because if the bull has no horns it means that it cannot win a fight of dominance with other bulls ever again. That, and the enjoyment of cultural images like a knight in full plate riding a bull that is charging head first into a shield wall.Instead of joustings or horse races there are Bull Runs, where two riders start about 1/2 mile away and charge towards each other. The distance is there so the bulls have a sufficient time to pick up speed. They bulls then crash into each other in a fight for dominance, and the bareback riders have to try to not get thrown off. If they do they lose. If a bull falls, the rider of that bull loses. Bulls rarely crumple after the initial hit, and they will juke around each other, trying to charge the fleshy and easily breakable midsection and rear. The rider can also try to steer the bull to get a strategic position against the other rider for the bull to charge, but this might leave him and his bull exposed. Bulls often break bones clashing this way, and sometimes a riders leg might be struck too. The end of a Bull Run usually leaves a bull or their rider permanently damaged. This is the most popular event in Araxian. It has the appeal of watching nascar but if the cars ram into each other directly. I would also like to note that this is based off of the natural way bulls compete, which is charging at each other until one submits or breaks. Naturally, herds of these cattle form a hierarchy where the strongest and toughest bull wins. These bulls however have been trained to not submit. Riders also make a lot of money, and a smart one can easily support themselves even after a short carrier. You could build an entire society around this animal.
What are some ways to make the standard wolf man idea more unique? I'm doing all the beastmen subraces and I really don't want to make a wolf man out of posterity.
Someone should set up new thread
>>74492956Oh Great Bull, the king must be devastated! I must send him the most heartfelt sympathies for his captured son. Our navy must be worse than I thought, to be unable to defend against such ruffian knaves stealing away our very own crown prince! Can you imagine what the king will do about this? Are there any leads to track down our great boisterous prince?(Building off the Bull replaces god phrases, this one is equivalent to Jesus Christ(the swear) for the lower classes and for the higher classes is invoking god(kind of like lord have mercy), as represented through the power of the bull/the bull is god. The official navy also sucks. Boisterous is used as a term of endearment, relating someone to the wild nature of the bull).>>74493233You could make them relate to bulls, dear, or other large herbivore creatues. Also, that is a tiny creature.
>>74493526The problem with that is the last subrace is called Beastmen canis. Either I need to do a massive rewrite or I replace them entirely.

I'm going to make a new thread, as we have hit the bump limit.>>74493703Very well so, I wish you a good night. I myself shall be going. Just send a charge to me when you wish to meet again, my good friend.(A "Charge" refers to the postal service of the Araxian Kingdom, which relies on bull riders delivering mail throughout the kingdom. This is mostly reserved for the upper classes, but charge houses can be found in most towns for those that can pay. The name comes from the speeds delivery and a propaganda campaign from the crown stating that information now "travels as fast as our bulls can charge!"If anyone else wants to add on to this in the next thread, go right ahead. Otherwise I'm going to add the lore to the wiki.)>>74493729Ok.

>>74493224This gives me an idea for a festival.>Araxian Touring BullA yearly festival where each province/locality of Araxia sends a highly decorated Running Bull and rider, to ride as a procession and visit every province in Araxia. Each year a different border province gets chosen to be the starting point of the procession, and the destination is always the capital, where the bulls are presented to the royal family. The Touring Bull festival is a chance for a province to promote business with other provinces, and maybe even other nations, for delegates and diplomats are traditionally invited to watch the procession. The festival used to be common among Araxia's neighbors as well, but over time one by one dropped it for their own reasons.
