Wiki (HELP NEEDED!):
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Nobledark_Imperium
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Category:Nobledark_Imperium
https://1d4chan.org/wiki/Nobledark_Imperium_Notes (oh god somebody please help)

LAST TIME ON NOBLEDARK IMPERIUM:
>More on the politics of the McConnell Corp and the family’s lazy playboy
>Kurnous and the Trials of Isha, and whether the same applied to the Emperor
>Zarakynel tries to be a homewrecker
>DOOMRIDER, the surprisingly amoral daemon prince who does what he wants
>Perspectives of immortality
>Daemon weapons
>And more

WHAT WE (also) NEED:
>More stories or codex entries for Nobledark Imperium. Anything that gets stuff off of the Notes page or floating around in space and into concrete codex entries would be appreciated.
>STUFF KEEPS GETTING LOST FROM THREAD TO THREAD
and, of course...
>More bugs
>More 'crons
>More daemons and orks wouldn't be bad either
>And more Nobledark battles
>>
>Implying Nurglites are physical enough to perform those dance moves
Cronedar, sure, but Nurglites would rather let spores or something do the work for them.
>>

after the first shot the Golden Man bod was kinda ineffective for its intended purpose, seeing as Oscar knew it was possessed by a deamon, but it could be put plenty other uses
>>

Having a working Woman of Gold would be a game changer. Oscar manager to kill Lady Malys.

The body is not functional, little more than a skin.
>>
>>65419513
yeah, its a walking (deity) digested corpse, but even then, the GaBHD made the greatest synthesis of Necron and Old One tech in galactic history

Does the Silent King's capital world have a name? I don't think we've ever discussed where he actually spends his time, galactically.

It was suggested that she retroactively issued challenges like "make a home for my children" and considered the Imperium it's completion.

Mandragora. He's using Imotekh's because the Necron homeworld is lost.
>>
>>65422328
It would make sense as Imotekh is his favourite general beating stick.
>>
>>65422005
Pretty much since day one of the project.
>>
>>65422872
So did Szarekh enter the great sleep on Mandragora? Was it his working capital during the end of the War in Heaven, and subsequently the breaking of the C’tan. If the Necron home system was lost in the War in Heaven it could represent a very interesting turn in Necron culture, when they are made to face their love/hate cultural relationship with their homeworld.
>>
>>65425272
>Old Ones destroy the shitty deathworld the Necron grew up on
>Necrons can’t decide what their sum societal response should amount to
>on one hand they always hated that place, they had moved well beyond it, and all they retained from it was a society of misery, and the frogs can get fucked if they think they’re gonna hurt Necron morale
>on the other, how fucking dare the motherfucking Sload touch the Necron homeworld. Sure it was a shitty irradiated pebble, but it was their shitty irradiated pebble, and after all their woes such a deprivation would see their culture go mad even before the degradations of time and sleep.
>>
>>65425272
>>65426240
They probably did keep it as their throne but modified. Solar shades, atmospheric manipulation, magnetic deflection shields among other things. The place was shit but it was a status thing more than anything, civilization (the only real civilization) had grown up there.
>>
>>65426727
It’s interesting to consider the enmity between the Old Ones and the Necrons, in your example I suppose I’m drawn to imagine the ways the Necrons would rationalize/articulate the superior civility of their own civilization against the longtime rulers of the galaxy. Would they argue that warpcraft couldn’t constitute technology or knowledge? Would it be that the old ones were irreparably decadent and cruel to lesser creatures? Whatever the high ground they chose, it was lost in the war, where no boundary was left uncrossed.
>>
>>65425272
Another option would be its destruction in the conflict with the C’tan following the war in Heaven. If anywhere to be so shot through with reality pinning pylons even the Old Ones couldn’t touch it, the Necron homeworld would be a probable candidate. Following from that, the C’tan seem like the only other force that could threaten the Necron homeworld. It’s another pretty interesting scenario to consider the homeworld itself was a casualty of the war upon the Star Gods, whether smote by the Nightbringer, accidentally shattered by cosmic warfare, or even sacrificed in the process of atomizing the Deceiver, it would drive home the cataclysmic scale of what was ultimately a mere epilogue to the War in Heaven.
>>
>>65427981
They would say that "magic" isn't the same as technological advancement. It's art, maybe.

To the Necrontyr there was no reason behind how the warp worked and so nothing to learn.
>>
>>65427981
According to "the Accounting of Trazyn the Infinite", the Necrontyr saw the Old Ones as indiscriminantly and unempathetically playing god with everyone else when they found out the Old Ones had intentionally left them alone on their homeworld to try and accelerate their cultural development. Which wasn't untrue but omits the Old Ones' more positive motivation of trying to spread life and sapience everywhere and was also massively projecting the Necrontyr's own insecurities onto the Old Ones. The Necrontyr saw themselves as the eldest child who despite being less strong has to stand up to the abusive parent and tell them "no more". They didn't think they were the best, they thought they were the best who weren't also morally bankrupt. One of the phrases which keeps getting used by them is "any god that would do such things deserves to get dragged from their throne", used to refer to both the C'tan and Old Ones.

The Old Ones saw the Necrontyr as their potential heirs (in a sidekick sense) but thought as a species they needed to grow up and get over their entitlement issues. They never understood why the Necrons took their response of "you need to figure it out yourself" in regards to immortality so poorly (because they had the emotional intelligence of a wet paper bag).

>>65426240
>>65426727
I think we said they did keep it for exactly that reason. It was a complete shithole but it was theirs, and they almost kept it around as if to punish the very world they grew up on rather than just leaving.

We said it was also a status/white elephant thing. Holding the homeworld was a complete bitch as no one wanted to live there, but it was also a symbol of legitimacy for the triarchy (and from a socio-political standpoint, if you could hold the homeworld it meant you had resources to spare). Which fits well with our description of the Necrontyr/Necrons as being governed by spite.

I wonder if the Silent King collected a bunch of whatever rubble was left and built his palace out of it, so that he could still say he ruled from the homeworld.

>He's hardwired reverence for the material into the minds of his subjects

i was rereading old threads, someone mentioned 'pure imagination' as the Taskmaster's theme song
>>
>>65436539
And just like Willy Wonka the Taskmaster likes doing strange and unpleasant things to children.
>>
>>65430148
The Old Ones, when you take away basic emotional reactions to things, were objectively right. They made a race with enough of a life span to impart knowledge to the next generation but due to the environment (that might have been engineered or more likely with the C'tan in the sun was just taken advantage of and not corrected) were short lived enough that traditions and attitudes change very quickly. At least in the early days before writing and the invention of suspended animation machines that allowed the hereditary aristocracy to leap-frog through time.

And it wasn't successors they wanted. There was never a consideration of succession, the Old Ones were going to be around forever. They just wanted someone to interact with as equals maybe. Maybe they were doing it for their needs or for the Necrontyr's "own good" as they saw it or maybe a bit of both.

The Old Ones never inflicted cruelty on the Necrontyr so much as sat back and watched whilst someone else suffered even though it would have been nearly no effort to help. And they did this for tens if not hundreds of thousand or even millions of years and then came out with empty self righteous platitudes when the Necrontyr were advanced enough to directly beg for help.

Which is not to say that the Necrontyr reaction was a shining example of good behaviour as it amounted to dedicating their entire civilization for the foreseeable future to the extermination of the Old Ones. The crown intentionally used the hate to unify the far colonies but the hate was very real.

And nothing has worked right since the first shot was fired.

well there's that, but also like Willy Wonka the Taskmaster keeps it all at arms length, governed by unclear rules and expectations, and he does it nominally for some higher purpose that still only amounts to his enjoyment in serving what he sees as a beautiful creation that has taken on a life beyond him.

The Xeelee are a Kardishev Type IV civilization from a series of novels and short stories by Stephen Baxter. The overarching plot of these stories is a billions of years long future history of human and posthuman civilization, and many of the stories are devoted to a galaxy spanning war between humans and Xeelee.

well, the only picture I could find of it seems to depict a swirling green atmosphere, and its stasis tombs were described as filled to capacity. Its presumably very heavily developed, only falling short of being a world engine because engines would take up space that was instead used for more infrastructure, and as the Triarchy capital after the destruction of the home world its surface would likely have been covered over with megalithic official buildings for running the empire, as well as Imotekh's already existing alterations to the world. The green atmosphere could be natural, but it might also be a product of Necron tech, or even a technology in itself used in the Necron equivalent of terraforming.

the archetypal Necron affinity for green clouds could be taken to as a sign of what their home world's atmosphere was like, or their chosen formulation after colonizing other worlds.
>>
>>65466479
The green colour could be a result of too much chlorine in the atmosphere. It wasnt like that back in the dat, indeed it was quite pleasant. Or at least it was when they moved in and before the ancent eldar dropped neutrino bombs all over the place and gamma ray sterelized the surface, but that's all ancient history even by the time they were setting the alarm. Something happened in the last 65 million years whilst they were sleeping that stired it up. Oddly it doesnt seem to have come on to the planet from the outside and seems to have come up from out of the ground but they definately feel that they would have noticed that much toxic shit in the planetary surface when they first set up shop.

It's a mystery but a convinient one, nobody wants to visit.

To be fair, would humanity be that different? If Earth was ever destroyed, we'd take the rubble and build monuments out of that out of reverence for our homeworld.

This is pretty good. A little stilted in places but it has a lot of good ideas, and it is very clear you know what you're doing in terms of the lore. Indeed, the stiltedness actually kind of works a bit, as it gives the impression of the near-emotionless, logical behavior of the Necrons and how their society seems so alien to ours.

They are the ultimate cenobite level sensation addict but can, when needed, put of immediate gratification for long term gains and unlike many followers is actually in this for love of their god rather than personal wants.

Probably was one of the nobility back in the old days and sees the Eldar Empire as nothing more than a shed husk from which their god emerged and therefore The Fall was a blessed event. Their only regret is that it didn't happen harder and take the whole galaxy.

Massive patron of the Dark City missionary work, which annoys Vect and by extension Malys a little.
>>
>>65479091
Some sort of ammonia compounds in the air maybe.
>>
>>65481805
That could work. We don't know shit about Necrontyr biology other than "humanoid shape, full of glitches and difficult to manipulate usefully".
>>
>>65421830
This would appease the eldar a little, specifically the curmudgeonly older generations who saw it as marrying way, way down.
>>
>>65481805

>>
>>65486046
>Would that work at a biological level?
Not with human biology, no. With some alien biochemistry though... Why not? Assume it works; it's probably true and the universe is large.
>>
>>65484839
I'd think that the Eldar might also make up some criteria that would help make the Imperium feel more like a home to them, something like having relatively safe holdings of the imperium around all the craftworlds as well as due protection of the Exodites from Imperial developments, or something of the kind. It would be the sort of thing Biel-Tan would predicate claims of the Imperium being a new Eldar empire on.
>>
>>65486726
It has already been mentioned that a list of all known Maiden Worlds has been provided to the Imperial Government so that the Imperium knows where not to set it's flag. It also means that the eldar can't claim dibs on other people's clay.

The exodite worlds themselves are typically divided up among the craftworlds that offer them protection and usually by ideological stance as the webway cuts travel and response time.
>>
>>65486515
>>65486046
After doing a little reading it seems unlikely. For life to he.ammonia based it would have to exist in an environment with a combination of greater atmospheric pressure and/or lower temperatures. Not impossible but necrontyr seem to have had a preference for more terrestrial and temperature climates. I'd assume they were carbon based from that.

This is not a definitely but it is a probable.

Also an ammonia base ecosystem would be brown rather than green.

The real reason for them making their new capital bright glowing green could be cultural. C'tan are native to stars and there are no green stars.
>>
>>65488608
That’s why I suggest it’s actually their terraforming tech, or post-biological equivalent
>>
>>65489952
Current Necron efforts are to dick slap the Big Red Cadia button, this may result in all life with a connection to the warp going extinct. Everything has some connection to the warp with only a few freakish exceptions. Terraforming could be a wasted effort.

Some aspiring Chaos Crones try to do things like open Khaine's Gate and let Chaos in, hoping to be rewarded beyond their wildest dreams by the dark gods. I don't think they would feel the need to make up semi-mythical criteria for the Imperium being a direct connection of the Eldar Empire. Consider; on the grand scale of the Eldar's history the Imperium turned up almost immediately after The Fall, the mother of all Eldar is the Empress, every major political figure hires Eldar farseers, almost every Eldar people is a member (cenobites and fedora cenobites don't count as Eldar or people) and the Eldar people are protected under it's aegis.

Other opinions on the subject are irrelevant.

>>
>>65522468
I’m not saying they’d add a mythological criteria, but they’d make up criteria, one or many like the points you made, just to tout as the sign their star is on the rise. It would probably shift age to age as Eldar commentators remarked on centuries and millennia of unfolding Imperial history, centering the claim on Isha’s place as Empress, having contiguous holdings connecting the craft worlds in realspace as an unbroken domain, the vital role of seers and other special eldar practices at various levels of society, etc. and at times all of the above.

Then Ulthan the Tasteless just comes out and says Oscar, though a pitiful godling, was preferable by far to Isha’s previous ‘husband’, and since they were wed, and Isha is mother to the Eldar, the empire that has come of the union is theirs as their mother bequeaths it unto them. Simply how it works.

>>65529053
"What, ask Her directly? That's just so crass! And totally unnecessary, as I know in my heart that She agrees with me fully. There's no need to say anything that might offend."

In taking up the role of empress and shifting her portfolio around Isha has become more powerful, but also changed in attitudes. Matronly is generally a fitting discriptor.

She'd be aware of what Beil-Tan believes, how could she not be, and she would have shared this with her husband. It's just one of those things that they have agreed to intentionally never adress. What Beil-Tan say is true, from there perspective the Imperium is the continuation of the not terrible parts of the Eldar Empire. Form the view of everyone else it's a Human founded nation. Both of these beliefs are equally true.
