>Elite Goatman warriors strike their foes to make openings for their Titan allies to exploit.
>Alternatively the Goatmen rip apart the orkz after the Titans make devastating blows, dividing up the remaining Waaaaaagh pieces into smaller, easily contained warbands.
>Everyone overlooks their elongated faces, hairy bodies, weird teeth because they're some of the only guardsman who can maintain morale while fighting in an uninhabited wasteland for years on end.
>Their weird biology allows them to eat and live on plant matter other guardsman would find inedible, allowing them to often forage for food and operate far away from supply lines.
Ideally we have some weird beliefs about our big metal buddies. Would worship of the Titans as avatars of the Emperor be just non-heretical enough to be acceptable? Or should it be even weirder?

Maybe there esoteric beliefs are related to the afterlife. Most guardsmen believe they join the Emperor in some eternal battle, maybe they believe that but to them it's more one big death race. The better, faster, cooler, and more heroic the death the closer you get to be to the Emperor and the better your vehicle.

The Journal of Commissar Alexander

This is not real. I was wounded in a battle and I'm in some strange fever dream. This is the only thing I can think of as this just cannot be real. I was pulled off a perfectly normal regiment from some drug fueled Hiveworld, god-emperor those were the days, at least that held some sense of normalcy. My reassignment orders told me to report to one of the worlds where we train recruits. Fine, nothing wrong with that. What I found when I arrived there was the problem. A bunch of Abhumans, and insane ones. Now I've served with Abhumans before mostly they think themselves exempt from service because the way we treat them. I was thinking I might need to stop by a Agri-world and pick up a cattle prod. But boy was I wrong. I only got to spend a day with them on the planet but I could already tell they were insane.

They wouldn't stop telling me how they couldn't wait to fight, and participate in some great "Death Rally" at the side of the Emperor against Chaos. That evening as we went for a run I was nearly crushed in what was more akin to a stampede! It started out normal but kept getting worse as they all tried to one up each other. One was even thrown into a tree when one of the Minotaurs shoulder checked him! I admit I was actually worried, mainly that this would look bad for me, and the fact he splintered the tree he flew into. But he just took my hand, brush himself off, and laughed about it.

Then we received word we were going to fight an Ork WAAGGHH. Now is when most men wet themselves, but they just cheered like it was a damn party! When we left for one of the invaded worlds an entire fleet of vehicles went with us! The next morning we joined two other regiments from their world (more Beastmen of course) that's when I learned I wasn't their to make them fight. I was there to keep them held back. My entire squad got into their vehicles and took off in a mad race through the ruins of the city.

>"By the Emperor, why are those bloody xenos supporting the Titan?"
>"Sergeant, they aren't here to support the Titan. The Titan is here to support them."
>>
>>63543907
I was holding on for dear life on the back of a bike. Though the Abhumans didn't seem to care as they rode on top, sides, and yes even underbellies of them. I prayed to the mighty God-Emperor that I might wake from this nightmare.

I will never forget what happened next. We rounded the corner into some sort of plaza the Orks had established themselves in. We encircled the group and unleashed a hail of fire into them. The Orks got in their vehicles and tried to flee, to which we gave chase. Shortly after our largest vehicle an eighteen wheeled truck meant for transporting supplies broke off. One of the Minotaurs on top grabbed two melta bombs. It was at this point I realized he wore a flak jacket covered in all sorts explosives. He turned his head to the sky and bellowed with all his might. "EMPEROR WITNESS ME!" He armed the Melta bombs in his hands and jumped to the largest trukk before destroying it in one of the most intense explosions I've ever seen.

I later had to try and control the bike myself as my driver at one point jumped over to an Ork trukk and hijacked it. Whatever that Minotaur did seem to set off a chain reaction of trying to one up each other.

I honestly do not know if I'll survive this regiment. Emperor preserve me.

The Emperor's War Lads. Hardest partying guardsmen this side of the Ultima Segmentum
>>
>>63544868
nice I like it.

Major Gornal Iron-Bits: A veteran in any Imperial regiment is rare. In the Emperor's War Lads even more so. However being a veteran in the War Lads is not as "glamorous" as in other regiments as it means they failed to find a worthy death. And Gornal is the veteran of dozens of battles. By now his body is more mechanical replacements than flesh, including an eye, all his limbs, and his heart. He serves as the Major of the 126th War Lads regiment.

Some of his feats include shoving a grenade down the throat of a Carnifex with his right arm. Killing an Ork Meganob by ramming it and driving it off a cliff with it on his hood. And lastly kill the leader of a Chaos warband.

It'd have to be something big. The Legio Titanicus doesn't exactly strike me as the kind of people who like unaugmented humans. Let alone unaugmented feral worlders. Let alone unaugmented feral worlder abhumans!

What the shit did these people do that the people with the giant walking shrines to Omnissian gunboners went "Yeah these goatboys are cool, they can ride with us!"
>>
>>63547839
I'm all on board with it! (was a little worried this thread would fall off and we'd lose our goatboys)

We still need to work on their homeworld. My proposal.

Grus IX: Grus was once a thriving Forge World with a thriving population. Over time though the foundries would prove too much for the young world. They sucked all resources out of the planet, it's minerals becoming weapons of the Imperium and experimental vehicles, the water wasted away as it was used to cool the massive foundries.

This alone would not have been enough to seal the planet's fate. The warp storm that covered however would. Cut off from the Imperium with little supplies, it's death was a slow one as it fell to anarchy. The smartest and strongest survived forming warring tribes using the ancient vehicles of the planet to fight in something between a shoot out and a race through ancient streets, and across the dessert dunes.

The warp storm would leave its other scars though. With each generation the humans gained traits of those like the ancient rams and bulls of Terra. They were quickly discovered after the warp storm ceased. It had ravaged their planet for centuries, but for the universe at large only several minutes had passed.
>>

Idea: The Feral World WAS a Forge World. Or, as close as such a thing could be back before the Mechanicus proper. Still, the world was and remains covered in overgrown machinery. Great swathes of the planet covered in overgrown steel and ceramite architecture, where legends of "siberbeasts" that groan with metal-under-stress and lurch into hideous life when one disturbs their lair. Great legends speak both of their cruelty, and the cunning and strength of those who broke them.
Their world was once a land of science and machine, and even regressed as they are culturally, mentally and genetically degenerated, they cling onto scraps of "siber", lore or mechanisms they understand on at least a surface level. Echoing a certain robed organisation of the Red Planet, almost. The great seas of fuel that lie under the planet's surface a commodity as hard-fought over by the feral-worlders as much as water or food. Exactly why they call it guzzoline is a mystery.

A key feature of their mythology is the "siber-emperor", a being of immense size and power, stronger than any siberbeast yet also a man, both at once. The origin, a near-complete Titan within what passed for a planetary capital pre-Imperial contact. The overwhelming size and complex nature evoking a sense of awe in the primitives upon their initial discovery of it. The later discovery of the Princep-chamber and the inner throne claimed by their raider-king cemented it's place in their culture and mythology.
Later additions to the mythos came quite naturally. The almost-complete status became grievous wounds inflicted upon it in the times past when every man was a siber-master, and it's inactive status merely is sleeping, and watching over the planet in it's slumber.
>>
>>63549842
When the Imperium finally made contact, and after a brief but potent period of distate at the discovery of their abhuman nature, the Ecclisarchy found it remarkably easy to tweak their mythos, they had accidentally or perhaps not so 'accidentally' developed a reasonable facsimile of an emperor who sacrificed himself in glorious battle who watched over them from a cybernetic throne. Though the AdMech Explorator ship sent to investigate the planet for recovery unexpectedly found it even easier to convert them to the Cult Mechanicus, so easy it was almost done purely inadvertently, the Tech-Priests choosing to correct the natives when they came with questions.

In modern times, the great Titan manufactorum is ablaze with Mechanicus activity, seeking to repair and re-activate the systems deeper in the planet. Above, the native city sprawling onto the surface with primitive farms, buildings and shacks made equally of scrap and timbers, while deep below the hooded Sons of Mars toil in their arcane sciences, skitarii fighting back monsters wrought in millenia past now awoken by noosphere binary echoing throughout the dead corridors and halls. The abhuman natives remain enthusiastic to become part of something greater, yet held at mechadendrite's reach by the Priesthood. Such a holy site should not be tainted by abhumans impurity.. and also it's a very technical endeavour, not one for feral-worlders. Still, some natives make themselves useful in moving goods about, hoping that they might be the one that will be chosen to be taught the magic of the offworlder sibermasters. Many, many more of course compete for the honour in various self-imposed trials to be one of those who are taken to the skies to fight the enemies of their less-hairy cousins, even if they aren't quite aware of how much the Guard finds them distateful to arm and implement.
>>
>>63549860
There still needs to be some single big event to create an alliance, one I can't envisage, but have this idea thrown into the pot to help justify why the AdMech might feel a warm pulse where their heart used to be. They're madmen abhumans, but they're trying damnit They praise the Omnissiah and hate the Abominable Intelligences, and want to see the ancient Titan walk into battle once more! Also techno-barbarian goatmen doing Mad Max with a giant machine-god just sounds fun.

>>
unfortunatly, Bolter and Chainsword doesn't have that much in regards to Guardman colorization (along with the fact they only have regular human option) so I decided to go with the suggestion of making their armor shiny while also giving the cloth a red color to reflect their most bestial side, let me know what you think and any recommend change
>>
>>63550173
Makes sense. They can't accuse the War Lads of being heretics without also technically accusing the AdMech of being heretics too.
I guess so long as they can justify it as "well they worship the second of the two approved Cults" they can accept it, just a little bit.

>>63543124
What if they're anti-Titan specialists? They ride alongside, jump aboard and fight their way up to the Princep/weird deamon brain or whatever and blow it up?
Imperial Titans can appreciate it when their enemy suddenly starts glitching out as a War Lad severs something very important or performs a rite of percussive maintenance on something you normally shouldn't.
>>

No Guard Sgt would ever talk about Marines like this.

Reminder that in-universe Marines are considered literal angels sent by the Emperor to purge in his name. A Lord General would lick the boots of a tactical marine
>>
>>63551395
A Lord General has probably faced enough shit himself already to merely be respectful to a Marine.
He might well have had rejuvenat treatments himself too.

What timezone are we in? Is this normal?
>>
>>63551395
Are you always this boring?
>>
>>63551437
Its not the experience that matters, but the status.

The same way an Inquisitor who's never seen combat in his life can order a General around, so can a Marine talk as much shit as he wants and expect a general to just put up with it.
>>
>>63551499
>dude who cares about the setting lol

You're right dude. Rolling to see if the guard regiment is also half-Necron, i mean saying "that's impossible" would be boring wouldn't it??
>>
>>63551500
Put up with it yes, that doesn't go on to mean they'd kiss their boots.

Also it's some fun shouting to get started. Are you just here to complain about the OP?
>>

Leave the thread, close your browser and take five minutes. Maybe get something to eat.

You're being kind of a dick on the internet.
>>
>>63551514
Yeah man that's the idea.
Loosen up and have some fun with it.
>>
>>63551514
Half actual Necron yeah. But there has to be a way to fluff a Guards regiment with Necron influence, even if Renegade/Chaos. Could be fun, hope we roll something that could support it one day.
>>
>>63551395
You're right. A lot of authors just default to "grrr it was us grunts wot won it" attitudes, when a lot of the time the apperance of space marines would be praised and celebrated by guards, unless it's one of the psycho chapters that kills them.
There's more leniency for the 30k setting where not every human society is as deeply ingrained in Imperial lore or thinking, and the religious devotion to the emperor and his genetic experiments isn't developed.
>>
I wasn't really talking in lore at that time. Just a more personal view point as guards are regular people, and most of the time Space Marines are brain washed killing machines of pure rage.
>>
>>63551320
They tell the Ministorum they believe in the Imperator, who is mighty, clad in metal and kills the xenos. The priests are ok with it, thinking they are just a lost imperial colony of butt ugly abhumans. Actually they just worship the Imperator Class Titan.

Change regular goatmen to a former slave caste of not!-Morlocks. Only they survived some cataclysm that killed the governing mechanicus leader caste, and since they were built for obedience, that's why they are so loyal.
>>
>>63552080

Speaking of religious devotion, it kinda annoys me how many writers have the main characters be...barely religious. Like, 40k is a massive fanatical society but the Ecclessiarchy almost never shows up (And if it does, it's almost always to contrast Those Stupid Fanatics with the main characters)

Orkz found the abhuman planet before the Mechanicus and Imperium, and were looting all the tech left behind. The natives fought back bitterly, using every salvaged resource they could find to reclaim human tech. It was by the heroic efforts of these primitives the most valuable pieces of technology on the planet were preserved till the Mechanicus arrived. As a reward for their service, and because their worship of titans is greatly appreciated, the War Lads accompany the local titan legion wherever it goes, mopping up enemy forces broken by the mechanical war gods.

>>63550431
The abhumans learned to destroy ork gargantz by piercing through the surrounding warboys to make suicidal attacks on the massive machines with massive promethium bombs. Ramming the gargantz with vehicles also works.

its probably safe to assume these goatmen carry around modified explosives and close quarter weapons to get through ork armor and deal with the orks inside while shouting or singing Imperial propoganda

Guard cavalry spears are actually one use explosives so they probably carry some of those too.

>A Hunting Lance is a one-handed, single-use melee weapon used exclusively by the Rough Rider mounted cavalry units of the Imperial Guard. This weapon is constructed of a hollow, lightweight metal shaft tipped with a spear point, which is also connected to the impact fuse of the weapon's shaped charge. This small explosive charge is constructed to direct the blast and fragmentation effect towards the target and away from the user. Once detonated, the user is left with only the shaft, which is then discarded. In close quarters combat against densely packed enemy formations, or in close confines, the Hunting Lance is very unwieldy and all Rough Riders carry at least one back-up weapon. The Hunting Lance also ignores the protective effects of most forms of armour, in a similar fashion to Power Weapons.

Yeah you could just shove these on wholesale. Don't play the tabletop so I don't know what kinda bikes or fast vehicles there are but I'm sure there's something available, somehow.

That said, these abhumans probably just about are in the genetic tolerance limits, it'd be hard to justify them otherwise.
The Titanicus insisted on a full test from the Genetors to prove it. Sure they're within 0.5% tolerance or something infinitesimal, but they'll take it. It's legit, and they have the data to prove it.

The Inquisition wanted to push it further at first, a re-test perhaps or a third party test. But the head Inquisitor on the scene was Golesh Heldane and people felt kind of weird about hating the goat headed people when their purity-affirming guy had a horse head.
Okay probably not just having fun.

Well if nothing else the existence of necron-tech wearing orks gives the weird cyberboners of the Mechanicus even more staying power.
They love necrontech almost as much as archaeotech.

They've found a DAoT forgeworld with an Emperor-class Titan and a sprinkling of necron loot on top of that.

Beastmen(Gors, and Minotaurs) are an established race of Abhumans in canon. But generally they're thrown in as meat shields and the occasional guard regiment. Some of their officers, and the commissars are most likely human. They probably refer to pskyers as shamans.

I figure if these guys are super-religious and tech-heavy they might lynch their psykers.
After all when you barely scrape the "tolerated" status in the Imperium you REALLY don't want the probably even more mutated potential witches in your midst.

Not saying it's impossible to produce psykers, but I wouldn't be surprised if the Blackships sometimes return with nothing beyond a governor's report on several mob killings.

Hadn't thought of that. I find it incredibly likely. They likely don't ven attach Psykers to the Regiment to prevent the loss of more.

I just realised. We're fighting Ork Black Templars but with psykers as a Guard force definitely without psykers (at least native psykers, off-planet ones might be safe).
Kind of an inversion of the psyker-hatred.

Wonder if any gotemen will ever be skitarii-fied. Having an Abhuman in the priesthood is probably a step too far barring any bizarre outliers, but there might be some argument to be made for the warriors of the Cult Mechanicus.
