>Alternate Scheme, more around the Cronus name.

I've got to sleep to so a quick recap before than.

We're Ultramarines. We were found in a brutal time for the Imperium in which it was consumed by civil war. Our chapter master, and possibly very founder was our great protector and admired by all in the chapter. After his fall we dabbled in chaos (possibly to try and bring him back), but left it after realizing it was a bad idea instead forming a cult around him, and keeping our warp empowered weapons. Overtime we've developed the belief that eating other Astartes keeps gene-seed pure.

We're constantly on the move picking up other stragglers, trying to outrun an old foe, another space marine chapter. We add what forces we pick up to our own and use them as meat shields. We have no techmarines or chained and powered weapons, which forces us to rely on heat weapons for up close BBQ and rogue tech priest. Despite running for so long we have the strength of a full strength chapter. Praise the chapter master brothers.

We'll need a name some possible ones.
Sons of Cronus.
Dionysus Revelers.
Hedonist of Bacchus.

Interesting stuff
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dionysus

The bull, serpent, tiger, ivy, and wine are characteristic of Dionysian iconography. Dionysus is also strongly associated with satyrs, centaurs, and sileni. He is often shown riding a leopard, wearing a leopard skin, or in a chariot drawn by panthers, and may also be recognized by the thyrsus he carries. Besides the grapevine and its wild barren alter-ego, the toxic ivy plant, both sacred to him, the fig was also his symbol. The pinecone that tipped his thyrsus linked him to Cybele.
>>
>>63425616
We rescue people, and presumably use the same people as auxilliaries to bolster our own forces, not unlike the way Ultrasmurfs use regiments of their own serfs to fight alongside them (in parts of the fluff).

I have some odd idea that this is a recently fallen chapter who doesn't even know that they're starting down the road to Chaos yet. Maybe a Necron Lord or Daemon Prince started to impersonate the Chapter Master's ghost, told them to cast off their techmarines and chain and power technology to start dabbling in creating warp-tainted old school weapons as a matter of honor. The symbolic simplicity of them, which harkens back to simpler, more brutal times, might make them better conductors of the Warp when these weapons become anointed with enough blood.

If it was a Necron masterminding this, then this could be an experiment in creating warp-resonant weaponry and trying to study it or fabricate an ally against rival Chaos factions, given these weapons would be effective against daemons; and would also explain why these guys are allied with Necrons.

If it's a Daemon Prince behind this, he's just dicking them over to make more Chaos Marines. And guess which god this DP would be allied with. Not Khorne, who's too straightforward for schemes, and low chance of Tzeentch, who doesn't like melee. Your Early Greek theme might have been more appropriate than you realize.

If we nix the idea of heated weapons, since that wasn't rolled for, that would be more thematic for warp-tainted melee weapons.

Also, it seems like this chapter might have gotten on the bad side of a rival chapter who's hunting them. /These/ guys saw their rivals as the heretics, and decided that eating the dead to maintain purity was acceptable since they weren't visibly mutated or tainted. In fact they could have seen it as rescuing them in death to take their rivals into them, and becoming part of a "purer" chapter.
>>
>>63432653
I can see why about Heatblades being nixed. Maybe the warp tainted weapons cause status effects? Like drunkenness and high adrenaline and what not?
>>
>>63432612
Serpent would be thematic, since OP is leaning towards Slaanesh. Chapter icon could be a snake and ivy vine wrapping around a goblet like a caduceus.

The Revelers' homeworld was a mix of Civilized/Pleasue and Agri World, a rarity among rarities for Marine homeworlds. The planet was renowned for it's wine, cattle and resorts that Sector Nobility came to see and partake. As payment the Revelers given favors and the like as well as connections to use politically. How does this sound? They could actually recruit from around the sector instead?
>>
>>63432715
>*Or we could keep Heat Blades as a step up in weapons for Sargeants and the like to replace out Power/Chain weapons? Warp Tainted stuff is reserved for the higher ups, the guys who can mentally shrug it off and tame them.

You could, I'm just saying it might otherwise be hard to reconcile why they tossed out powered weapons, and it's not unreasonable to say they let the rank and file keep the kids stuff. Having your assault marines have rune-embossed ritual blades without an actual warp presence yet isn't entirely unreasonable. Heresy era Word Bearers had the option for sergeants and officers, and might have had specialist squads equipped with them.

Another reasonable way to mesh these notions is that it could be some idiosyncratic chapter tradition. Might even fit in with their purity theme for why they decided to go old school, and they like heated weapons the same reason SoB like flamer weapons, since fire is a strong purifying force in Imperial theology.

Just got to find a way to manage the power tether that connects to their armor the way a lot of Chaos weapons do.
>>
>>63432902
I was thinking the same. Heat Blades could also be tied into a Proto-Slaanesh branding thing. Many such blades have a mark embossed which when heated is used to brand a target for whatever reason the mark denotes:
>Food
>Brother
>Slave
>Etc.

As I was on the toilet I thought what if the cannibalism is tied to brining their CM back? Like some weird ritual that invooles them consuming craptons of Marines , UM stock preferably to do so?

And straight from the Wiki that makes me realize this is perfect.
>>63433048
Either works honestly. Dio for partying and the Revelry and Cronus for Cannibalism
>>
You could even work CSM horns unto these guys
>Dionysus was a god of resurrection and he was strongly linked to the bull. In a cult hymn from Olympia, at a festival for Hera, Dionysus is invited to come as a bull; "with bull-foot raging". Walter Burkert relates, "Quite frequently [Dionysus] is portrayed with bull horns, and in Kyzikos he has a tauromorphic image", and refers also to an archaic myth in which Dionysus is slaughtered as a bull calf and impiously eaten by the Titans.[13] In the Classical period of Greece, the bull and other animals identified with deities were separated from them as their agalma, a kind of heraldic show-piece that concretely signified their numinous presence.[13]
>>
Each Reveler is in charge of a portion of their auxiliaries. When a Brother dies their auxiliaries are divided among the rest of the Chapter as much as possible. Leftovers are either sacrificed or put to work in a part of the ship.

Each Marine uses these auxiliaries in squads to support them selves as an entourage. These Guards are rather well equipped for their lot.

In larger theaters the Chapter/Companies make use of mass numbers of auxiliaries

Okay so here's what we've got set in stone so far.

We're the Dionysus Revelers a Ultramarine successor. We were founded in a brutal time for the Imperium in which it was consumed by civil war. Our chapter master Lord Dionysus, and possibly very founder was our great protector and admired by all in the chapter. After his fall we dabbled in chaos to try and bring him back, but left it after realizing it was a bad idea instead forming a cult around him, and keeping our warp empowered weapons. Overtime we've developed the belief that eating other Astartes keeps gene-seed pure, and that devouring the flesh of Ultramarines brings him closer to resurrection.

We're constantly on the move picking up other stragglers, trying to outrun an old foe, another space marine chapter. We add what forces we pick up to our own and use them as meat shields. We have no techmarines or chained and powered weapons, which forces us to rely on warp powered weapons and rogue tech priest. Despite running for so long we have the strength of a full strength chapter. Each brother is assigned a squad of personal auxiliaries, the higher you are the more you get. We also developed our own kind of wine, called Ambrosia wine, that can get a marine drunk and kills normal humans.

Praise the chapter master Dionysus brothers.

It's far better than>>63425616 for sure, their is the banding issue on the kness but that's always a problem with the marine painter.

The ships of the Revelers are known for being quite splendidly decorated, odd for a Marine Chapter even a renegade. This may be a form of keeping unity and sanity for the chapter since much of the architecture is reminiscent of their homeworld Bacchus III, the Pleasure/Agri/Civilized world they hailed from.

I'm not against the necron part, I love it in fact, but rolling up a whole army seems a bit much. This also calls into question why he needs them. The Reveler's fleet is noted for the large amounts of Hydroponics across it. Each ship has a fairly sizeable amount where a number of things are grown. Average Bacchus III attitude.
>>
>>63436936
The Nobles and tourists yeah, but the rural yokels are quite nice and the Marines actually have been known to recruit from them from time to time before the Exterminatus. Speaking of which these Turk Marines were likely the ones to help pull the trigger, along with all the Nobles on it. Leading to some political instability in the Sector for centuries to come since all the power vacuums left dynasties fucked
>>
>>63436936
After centuries of directing and 'Leading' the Revelers through the guise of Dionysus, 'Dionysus' (Name pending) has acquired a sort of paternal affection, grandfatherly really towards the Revelers fleet, from Marine to Abhuman. This is largely due to the loss of his Tomb World and dynasty
>>
>>63436982
The Bacchus system was once a lush and prosperous system. But after the Exterminatus of Bacchus III, for suspected heresy claimed by the Turk marines. The system fell to ruin the noble lords lost on Bacchus III causing a power vacuum, and without the Revelers to protect them they became and easy target.

Lord Dionysus stayed behind with a company of marines to protect a golden age facility which cast a shield around the planet protecting it from Exterminatus, while the others evacuated as many on the ships of the fleet as they could. When everyone was loaded on they sent a gunship to pick up the last remaining dozen, but they and Dionysus was felled by the Chapter Master of the Turks. A brave soul recovered the body. He was entombed on the Thyrsus, flagship of the Revelers. Not knowing a Necron Tomb lord had snuck on.

>>63437271
That'd be funny but naw. The Turks are already pretty fucked.
>>
>>63437216
We could also use this so that all our Techmarines died protecting the shield facility and armories.

>>63437299
It might be better if they're chasing us more as a personal grudge. They were ordered to go on a penance crusade, but instead just follow us and say they're doing their jobs.
>>
>Let me tell you why I am not purging your chapter Turk CM. The Revelers use of Warp tainted equipment could have been dealt with by Penance crusade, the cult around CM Dionysus could have been overlooked, BUT DECLARING UNSANCTIONED EXTERMINATUS ON A GARDEN WORLD IS TOO FAR! THE ONLY REASON YOU'RE NOT GETTING PURGED IS DUE TO US FINDING IT WAS A TOMB WORLD!
>Your recklessness has caused the deaths of all those Nobles, parasites they may be, their existence kept the peace between the planets. With them gone the Sector is going to fall to civil war between them selves and the dynasties, merchants and more. This is a shitshow beyond anything I've witnessed in my long life. You will go on a Penance Crusade to bring back the Revelers to stand trial or eradicate them if they fall to Chaos. Do I make myself clear?
>>
>>63437367
That's how I see it. They know they fucked up but don't want to admit it. So they take their frustrations out on going after the Revelers, but can get sidetracked by local war efforts.

These guys sound pretty petty now that I think of it
>>
>>63437409
I like that. We can work with that. But we should have it so the Warp equipment came after, trying to revive the CM using the warp. But Necron Dionysus was like that ain't going to end well and stopped the risky stuff.
Also who's the stand in master. He should have a title like Reaper of Dionysus, or Grand Scythe to reflect the harvest origins, while hinting at the Necron lord. Some name like Talos Deimos
>>
>>63437481
Talos Deimos get's my vote. Even he doesn't know the NL is in charge through his Wizard of Oz gig.
>>
The Sarcophogi of CM Dionysus of the Revelers is situated in the Flagship "The Bountiful Harvest" main Hydroponic dome. It is surrounded by meadows, forests and numerous wildlife. The area it sits is a temple made of marble and other precious materials
>>
>>63437604
So are we going Thyrsus or The Bountiful Harvest. I like the description is fits with how the other ships are described for their Hydroponics. Also in the other ships are situated temples that are perfect recreations of CM Dionysus's tomb, but where his sarcophagus would be is a grand Brazier.
>>
So the Marines are adding Necron tech to their own by way of the NL doling it out to the Tech Priests here and there. In addition he's actually been teaching them stuff on how to create lesser copies so they can learn on their own to stand on their own two feeet.

>Honor Guard kitted with Cryptguard derived equipment
>>
>>63437681
Yeah, Thrysus would fit better being the wand/staff of Dionysus. BH is the converted freighter they captured a while back and turned to be their main manufacturing/hydroponic ship.

The brazier idea is good, they have Serfs, Abhumans or Scouts in charge of keeping them lit at all times
>>
>>63437713
Going off on Abhumans, Dionysus the god was regarded as the protector of those who do not belong to conventional society and he thus symbolizes the chaotic, dangerous and unexpected, everything which escapes human reason and which can only be attributed to the unforeseeable action of the gods.[15]

Maybe our Dio was the first to show these Abhumans their first sign of actual human compassion and managed to get the Revelers to follow suit?

Also Leopard, Lion, Tiger cloaks for veterans
>>
>Idea for the general ornaments and decorations you'd see on the armor of a Reveler.

Also what were the people of Bacchus like pre-destruction. Probably bronze skinned from being a well lit agriworld. Well toned muscle from work in the fields, even on most lords from pride in appearance and genetics. Normal hair colors are ginger and blonde. Green and blue eyes.
>>
>>63437777
Following with >>63437814 our home could have also been home to Beastmen before it blew up, and we followed his way by picking up others we found and adding them to those we evacuated. Making the Reveler fleet have a large concentration of loyal Beastmen.
>>
>>63437814
Decorations would be here>>63432612 also lots of harvest related imagery, workers working the fields, parties with people enjoying themselves, being raucous etc.

The average workers were the people who in a sense are what got the Revlers to stay. They adored the simple hard and smart working rural Arcadian lifestyle the lived. They even recruited from their numbers from time to time. Dionysus himself came fro such a humble origin, he protected numerous sheep herds fro mbandits and predators time after time with but a sling and staff.
>>63437845
The Abhumans were also inhabitants, they were originally kept around to provide target practice, mercenary/guard work and cheap labor.
>>
>>63424411
I love that this is how we start
>>
>>63437886
"There are some days where I would walk back to my village when it wasn't too busy. I would go without armor and in simple field clothes, so I could feel the wind and sun upon my skin. The ground and water on my feet. I would take a single Honor Guard and a few PDF as formality. When I arrived I smiled for it was still there even centuries later. I would then ask the shepherd if I could take over, and he'd agree. During that time I allowed my mind to wander back to my youth so long ago."
-Chapter Master Dionysus Demeter recounting his days off
>>63437953
Yep
>>
>>63437886
So pre-founding of the Revelers it was Ultramarine. Because remember Dionysus was a Ultramarine before being used to found us.

Also I'd like it if for once we were a world that didn't treat our Abhumans like shit. They were probably servants for the nobles, and laborers in the fields but considering all things in the Imperium maintained much of the freedom a regular Bacchus citizen had, but couldn't be nobility.

>>63437953

>>63438019
So was Dionysus gifted to us or something else? Was he given a choice on what chapter to join? Maybe the Ultras thought the Abhuman crime rates were too low to be true and sent him or he and his company were already there and decided t ocheck Bacchus III out.

The Marines of Bacchus III before the shattering were known to be recruited rom the agriculturalist rural folk in the countryside. It was due to the belief that such a simple upbringing led to the later marines having a stronger spiritual fortitude

When the died, the bodies of the marines would be placed into the wilderness to be picked away by wildlife over the course of weeks. They are watched over by Abhumans and Scouts to observe and prevent grave robbers stealing the bones.

Poetry and artwork regarding the simple lifestyles of these rural folk were very common among the Marines both Pre and Post Shattering.
>>
>>63437986
I think this can work with a little finagling. Dionysus was from Maccrage and it likely had areas like Bacchus III, but B3 is such areas writ on a planetary scale. When Dionysus took time to explore the world as part of a tour his memories of his childhood came back, being a simple shepherd boy. He wrote to Calgar/the CM of the time regarding his wish to join the Revelers due to how smitten he had become with the people and place, citing it was planets and people like these are what the Marines were fighting for.
>>
>>63438312
He founded the Revelers. Maybe they were assigned as guards. Or fought off a xeno invasion that never grew into a big threat, and before the Ultras left they recruited some farmers and shepherds from the world one of which was Dionysus

Okay so he founded the Revelers, that's how I always assumed that roll worked, because it's really confusing. So Dionysus has been dead for millennia but his exploits earned him such acclaim by his chapter they over time developed a cult around him?
>>
Maybe we can work the Turk hate into Dionysus's own backstory. Perhaps both him and his brother were recruited into the Ultramarines due to their bravery both brothers were chosen to father successor chapters. The rivalry started when Dionysus was given their homeworld, and the brother was stuck with a shitty feral ice world.

>>63438450
He was viewed as a father, protector, and figure of legend even in his own time. But with his apparent returning as a spirit after sorcery was attempted (via Necron lord) he was worshiped as a god. And they picked up some strange habits like believing cannibalism was a rite of purity.
>>
>>63438506
From the other Marine roll thread? That could work, but we'd have to change either chapter founding's to make it work. I love the brother idea and how the whole situation devolved from simple jealousy

We did say he killed Dionysus though. So maybe it was a slow hate that festered underneath for his brother and home. Or his marines were just meant to capture the world, but a captain who hated the Revelers hit the Exterminatus button.

We need to sit down and straigten things out.

Both Chapters were founded in M35 and both brothers were from Bacchus III. They were raised by the Smurfs to take part as marines and during the Apostasy. After that another founding and both showed themselves more than capable and earned chapters.

Dionysus got Bacchus III while the Turk bro got a cold steppe feral world. He would imprint his hate and resentment towards Dionysus that would fester for millennia until the button was pressed.

Also the Far Hunters are more typical of the Scars than normal Marines, they prefer lighting strikes and high mobility. So armor assault and bikes are the order of the day

What point is it to have strong recruits if only a handful of a handful survive to become Marines? None. If only I could industrialize this ice ball and improve the people's lot in life, but I cannot. The Ordo Astartes would be up my ass faster than I could say "Heretic". Picture it the two young brothers playing soldier in a vineyard with sticks. Then change it to the day Bacchus III was destroyed. Pods drop from the sky in blazing fire. People scream and run through the streets, even livestock slaughtered in the fields. From the pods burst forth more and more Turk marines on their vehicles, cutting down people in the streets as they fight towards the Revelers ships and the shield facility. Techmarines cut down in the armories as they try to arm their brothers. Revelers fighting tooth and nail as civilians and the Beastmen of their home rush to the ships.

One company and Chapter Master Dionysus of Krasi trading blows with his brother and the enemy marines. Veterans of the Turks vs the Techmarines of the Revelers. At the steps of a golden age facility projecting a shield over the planet they fight for the fate of the planet. Two chapters as close as family two can be for Astartes chapters. The ships pf the Revelers fleet take off with as many as they can hold. A Reveler gunship is sent to the largest city on the planet where the facility is held. Minutes out Dionysus is felled by his brother, and the facility overwhelmed and destroyed. As the Turks own ship arrives to pick their own up the Reveler ship sets down and a brave soul Talos Deimos fights to recover the body of his chapter master. As the ships take off a Turk turns to his Chapter Master. At long last all of the pain boils over, turning to the marine he says. "Order the Exterminatus I want nothing more to do with this cursed world."

I love it, but the Shattering comes much later when both Brothers are long dead. The Turk Brother's hate and resentment festers in his Chapter that leads up to the destruction of Bacchus III.

"We'll beome Angels one day Zephyr. Just you wait. And we'll become the mightiest of the mall, Chapter Masters and rule Cchus together side by side. What say you?"

"We'll always be together Dionysus. Nothing will change that. You're my Brother."
>>
>>63439273
We've established pretty heavily that Dionysus died in the "shattering", so we'll have to find a way to work around this.

Also I really like the name Zephyr for the brother. This could be how they started out, and it grew into a bitter cold hate as their chapters grew. Dionysus just getting the Homeworld was just the first straw.
>>
The Far Hunters are pretty much resentful now a days, having become near Marines Malevolent assholes due to the festering wound in them left by their first CM Zephyr millennia ago. This has earned them few friends, as their attitude rubs everyone off the wrong way, their brutality is a part of this as well. Their preference fro fast assaults tend to leave their allies in the dust and they are quite destructive in their pursuit of destroying their foes to get to the next battle field.

For colors I think cold/hard colors would work best.

For a symbol not sure, maybe a rampant horse?

Inquisitorial Report #2018541957
Subject: Sons of Dionysus and (insert name of Turk Chapter here) conflict
Records dating back to M35 have shown both chapters to be founded around the same time each led by a brother. Records of the two showed a close bound between each other and the likely hope that with this bound it would forge stronger chapter relations. However, as time passed it started to become clear that the opposite happened. Its unclear when relations between started to mutate into a cancerous hatred though the Siege of Thermablous was a clear indication of what was to come. The two chapters were tasked with clearing a chaos insurrection from though the two disagreed on which tactics to use. The sons regularly employ the usage of heavily armored terminator squads with the support of devastators to wittle down their foes while the (turk chapter) favor lightning fast attacks supported by long range bombardment. As the campaign dragged on it became increasingly clear the two chapters were barely cooperating and were nearly on the brink of conflict. (Turk CM) accused the Sons of being nothing but spoiled nobles tainting the legacy of Guilliman by allowing brats into their ranks while Dionysus accused his brother of being nothing but a savage no better then hive ganger scum. After the campaigns conclusion, the two chapters refused to interact with each other as tensions continued to grow. All attempts by their parent chapter to mend relations ended in failure, resulting in the (Turk Chapter) launching a pre-preemptive strike once rumor spread of foul arts being practiced. What followed resulted in a full scale civil war in the sub-sectors on the Sons going renegade. Since this incident, the Ultramarine Chapter master and the Ordo Hereticus have ordered the (Turk Chapter) to redeem themselves by going on a Pentient Crusade and bring the Sons of Dionysus back for judgement. As of M42, the two chapters are known to be active with their bitter hatred only growing.

>>

One thought: The Ottoman Turks were steppe nomads who picked up Islam and the idea of hereditary monarchy from the territories they conquered. The Turk Chapter Master is like their Osman (hell, the reference is obscure enough that could work if not for the brother, then some later Chapter Master). He gathered the scattered tribes and made them into a Power.

Bacchus III meanwhile, is their Byzantium; it represents everything they aspire to. The culture, ancient legitimacy, beauty, that they have inherited from their founding Chapter Master. Only it doesn't quite turn out like it did for the historic turks.

You could show this with a slight twist on the scene, rather than have the Chapter Master order Exterminatus so bluntly, the Chapter Master orders an orbital bombardment. The marine begins asking about targeting priorities to which the CM replies "No need. I am done with this cursed place. Cyclonic torpedoes, planetary coverage".

The marine is so shocked he lapses back to the language he was raised in: "Bismillah, in His name chapter master, that is Exterminatus..."

The only response is silence followed by a quiet, cold, question: "Is there a problem?"

After another moment comes the response: "Firing cyclonic torpedoes." And some quietly muttering an ancient phrase, "Mashallah".

The Turks don't think the Revellers are worthy of their planet. Don't think they're proper caretakers of it; but the Shattering... that's not what they had in mind at all. The Turks never quite recover from the Shattering either. Except they become hyper-loyal; they must be loyal.

"For if we are not loyal we are damned."

The History
Bracchus III was what is the crossest to paradise in the Imperium one could achieve. On this planet born to a family of poor shepherds were two brothers. Their names were Dionysus of Kris, and Zephyr of Kris. Like most of the peasants of the world they grew up simple lives. They played in the vineyards pretending to be soldiers as children and listened to the Satyrs play music in lavish fairs by night. During their childhood though a force of Xenos invaded the system. Fortunately they never saw them as the blue angels of death sent by the Emperor protected them. But this was what would take them far from home, the Astartes that protected them would recruit the two children to bolster their ranks.

By some Emperor sent miracle both brothers survived the life of a recruit and weathered the danger of the gene-seed. They had proved their worth and were made full fledged marines. Dionysus would be placed in the 5th company, and his brother would be placed in the 8th company gaining his love of assault style tactics there. They would prove great marines participating in many battles and campaigns in this time of civil war. During one particular campaign the brothers were rewarded for their work. They would be granted the great honor of founding two new successor chapters. Dionysus would be given first choice and claim his homeworld and its system. Zephyr perceived this as a slight by his older brother and with no other suitable candidates was stuck with a feral world covered by tundra, and steppes.
[1/2]
>>
>>63440320
I like Basileuousa as well. It fits them. I like the idea the RoD ship names are calm and rather beautiful in comparison to other Imperial ships.

"The Bountiful Harvest" or "The Good Shepherd" sound funny when put up alongside "His Unending Retribution"
>>
Do the revelers have a librarius? Necrons arent the biggest fans of warp shenanigans
>>
>>63440385
A rivalry would grow between the chapters as they interacted with each other. The hatred Zephyr harbored also grew on his world which he viewed as backwards. It would all come to a boiling point as (untrue)rumors of the Revelers dabbling in the powers of the warp. The two sub-sectors launched into a full scale civil war with the chapters at the head. The Far Hunters favor of mobility helped them, leaving the Revelers little time to set up proper defense. They would destroy Bracchus III, killing Dionysus, and the golden age facility protecting Bracchus III causing the Dionysus Revelers to go rogue and as punishment the Far Hunters sent on a penance crusade to retrieve them if possible, and destroy them if not.

Homeworld
Bracchus III was in simple terms a paradise in the Imperium. Large cities of marble, fashioned in the ancient style of the Terra culture of the Greeks, to which large river-like aqueducts supplied water for gardens that dotted the multi leveled city roofs and hanging gardens. The rural countryside overflowed with docile life, deer and boars in the deepest woods. In pastures Terra sheep and cattle are tended too, and vast vineyards and fields dot the landscape for miles.

The nobility rules the marble cities, and serfs and peasants tended to the countryside. Bracchus III was also of note as it held a large population of Beastmen, they were divided into two breeds by the locals the large bull like Minotaurs and the almost entirety human like Satyrs who would pass for humans were not for their cloven feet and horns. Unlike most of the Imperium due to the close relation of the Abhumans and regular humans they lived normal lives. Although they could not be granted titles of nobility.

The largest city on the planet was its prime jewel the city of Basileuousa. It had grown widely renown due to the fact that the first settlers formed it around a powerful golden age facility which covered the planet with a orbital shield.

Adding a bit of my own

It is known the Revelers walked among the populace at a fairly common rate for many reasons: improving ties, keeping the peace, taking part in festivals and more. Most famously is tales of Chapter Master Dionysus working the fields and herding sheep in peasant garb like in his youth. He is recorded in saying it kept him in touch with his humanity.

The crime rate among the Beastmen was regarded as the lowest in the Imperium second to none, a point of pride to the Bacchusians.

Would Ptolemy Soter be too on the nose for the Necron lord's name? AFAIK the Egyptians never really conquered Greece; but Ptolemy was one of Alexander's generals who set up a dynasty in Egypt. General theme of hybridization between the "Greek" (okay, Macedonian; 2000 years on ant it's still a sore point) world of the Revellers, and the "Egyptian" of the Necron.

Pic entirely related.

Shitty writefaggottry its not the best I am tired af but had a sudden burst of inspiration feel free to add/edit

Astraeus grunted as the last of the sweet ambrosia entered his mouth it created a fine taste as it mingled with the blood of the enemy. He had already copmmited the combination to memory. The blend seemed to mingled and muse with his thoughts as he wondered what these bikers, savages and raiders claiming to be astartes had hoped for by trying to board the fleet, old grudges he supposed could cause a man to make many a strange decision. His vox crackled to life “All shepherds gather your flocks, the boarders encroach upon the tomb of our lord”. By the time the vox had finished crackling Astraeus was already moving all thoughts of his fine vintage immediately forgotten, an uneasy rage pushed his and his flock of satyrs every step as they made for the tomb of their lord. He swore in the name of Dionysus and the emperor, he would die before he let these heathens desecrate the tomb of his lord like they desecrated his home.

I like that as well. It could add a particular pathos:

Journal Entry 53229: I don't remember my brother's name. I don't remember mine either. I ask myself how I could have forgotten. But It's simple to see. I watch the Revellers through the mask of their dead Chapter Master, and I see what they have lost. All the small details; the tiny fragments of sense and memory that die with them and cannot be retrieved by those that carry on. Battle to battle their memory diminishes as aeon to aeon mine once did.

They will loose his name too. They may keep the sound of it. But they will loose the meaning. No... I am taking the meaning from them. With my imposture I am erasing his name as mine has been erased. I can only hope I have given more than I have taken.

>On the eternal quest to live, but doing it still in a decadent and lavish manner.

Also new stuff I added

Auxiliaries and life in the fleet
A marine will be lord to several auxiliaries at all times to help him battle similar to a squad. The fleet calls these auxiliaries belonging to a marine a flock and their marine their shepherd. If a marine dies his auxiliaries will be assigned to another marine. The number of auxiliaries under a astartes is directly connected to rank with a standard battle brother boasting seven. All members of the fleet are auxiliaries if need be, but in times when not needed keep the fleet functioning.

Minotaurs are favored by Revelers for fighting but due to their power are only allowed to be given to high ranking members, and at the additional cost of other lesser auxiliaries. When off-duty Minotaurs stand constant vigil in the grand temple of a ship, or help with heavy duty labor. Satyrs along with Bacchusian humans make up the main bulk of any force and can commonly be found as the consorts and servants of Revelers.

The ships of fleet Bracchus are far removed from that of a regular Imperial ship. Gone are tight winding corridors in their place lay large open hydroponic fields tended to by off-duty auxiliaries. Many balconies will overlook these large open areas, while no doubt a lavish feast or party ensues in many of them.

Due to the heavy lose of the Chapters Techmarines it is forced to rely on rogue tech priest and those it they save.

Necron Lord Dionysus
Bracchus III long before its life as a Imperial Agri/Pleasure world was a Necron Tomb world of now defunct dynasty. When the final battle of the shattering broke out he was awoken from stasis, but for some unknown reason the reanimation protocols of his army failed. With no other options and unable to stave off the destruction of the planet he boarded the flagship of the Revelers the Thyrus. As it took off from the planet he his under were the body of Dionysus would be entombed. Later he would use his technology to take the form of the dead Chapter Master appearing as a spirit.

He has directed the Revelers since and taken the name Dionysus, since he has forgotten his own but only his name. At first they were tools for him to use but overtime as come to view them with a more fatherly disposition as he becomes more use to his role.

The only current members of the Revelers who know the true identity of the spirit of Dionysus is the current Chapter Master Talos Deimos and the 1st company known as the grand scythes.

this all currently agreed upon.

Actually, that could be why they go to the extraordinary length of keeping a garden on their home ship/battlebarge/practically a space hulk by now, and what they see as the flaw of the Imperium generally and the Turks in particular. They believe that once you cut yourself off from any of the primal elements life, pleasure, labor, sex, violence, wine, music, sacrifice, hardship, nature, growth, death, birth... you inevitably diminish yourself. And diminished you try to fill in the missing bits by trying to get too much of what you do have. It's also why they've managed to avoid falling to Chaos despite everything.

The fact that they have a Necron basically running the chapter is both deep irony and solid proof of this philosophy. A fact that wouldn't be lost on the Necron lord. Who might consider this as a form of the "Return to the Flesh".

Journal Entry 43681: I have never believed I would one day return to a body of meat and bone as so many desired. Even if what was done may be undone, why would we return to our cramped, painful lives? Better the cold eternity of our new forms than the ephemeral flicker of agony that was the old.

But here I find myself watching the lives of these living creatures, the body of this chapter as it, grows, bleeds, and reproduces itself. And so I have unknowingly returned to the flesh. It is not mine; but I care for it all the same. It is a long time since I could say that about anything at all.

Personally I like the Ottoman honorifics more for the chapter master. Think ‘Bey’ or ‘Pasha’.
So if his name is Zephyr his astartes would always call him Zephyr Pasha or Zephyr Bey.

By that same system Captains would be addressed as ‘[name] Reis’

Had to post quick to prevent the thread from being slid but I agree with you on those points and how the Revelers would come to those conclusions.

Love the changes and effect he Chaper had on 'Dionysus'. Feels like something out of Canon in a way.

The Revelers and their fleet aren't simply traveling to survive like I said before, they're traveling to experience life and adventure it self.
>>
>>63441958
The general feel of the Revelers in general reminds me of a quote from Diocletian
"If you could show the cabbage I planted with my own hands to your emperor, he definitely wouldn't dare suggest I replace the peace and happiness of this place with the storms of a never-satisfied greed."

The idea of the Revelers referring to themselves as shepherds nad their followers their flocks is even funnier since the Turk's spirit/national animal is the Grey Wolf. Even funnier since the Far Hunters have sort of become almost wild and savage following the start of their penance crusade centuries ago, in their pursuit to capture/destroy the Revelers they've started to mantle how the SoD see wolves: not savage noble beings but forces of destruction trying to take away their livelihoods. Even better if the Hunters see the wolf as being said noble creature and respect it for the unity of the pack and its daring and ferocity.
>>
I wonder if since the Revelers are going for an Old School approach to fighting in regards to Power/Chain weapons, should they limit their use of Plasma/Lascannons? Missiles?

Would they only bring them out when things get dire and generally use very 'basic' stuff I.E. Bolters, Flamers and such.

Same with vehicles, you think they'd just produce tons of Rhinos and lend them out to their Human/Abhuman Auxiliaries as needed when the situation demands mass Armor.

Yeah that would make sense, probably never had much heavy weaponry coming from an Agri world anyway. Plus if you blow an Ultra apart their isn't much left to eat.

So guys I'm thinking of adding some Death Watch crunch. In case anyone ever want to play one.

>>63444639

The fact that Revellers have actually adapted quite well to their nomadic lifestyle could form part of the grudge. The Far Hunters had assumed that the Revellers would crumble with the loss of their world. Obviously they're too tied to the land and to used to their garden world to be able to endure the hard life of a nomad. The Far Hunters themselves didn't really want or like such a life. They wanted a stable territory for themselves.

Well it's seven fucking thousand years later and the heretic infidel goat-fuckers are still around, with their Emperor damned garden ship, and all the other degenerate behaviour that obviously justifies getting their planet blown up. Meanwhile the Far Hunters still dream of their own Basileuousa; their grand golden city standing between the verdant land and the wine dark sea upon their own garden world. As much as they believe that they embody the hard spirit of the steppe nomad, they also believe that such is their due, and it was taken away from them by the Revellers. (It doesn't make sense but I feel like the Far Hunters should, at this point, be in full "Why did you make me hit you?" mode).

For them it's proof that the Revellers must have given themselves over totally to Chaos; because that's the only goddamn way those weak and unworthy fools could possibly have endured.

Go for it on the Crunch. How about this:
>Simple is Best/Back to the Basics
>Better profiency with basic gear(Bolters, Flamers, Stubbers etc.) so they hit more often
>More advanced weapons are more expensive though

Yeah these guys are in search of new things to enjoy and actually like moving around looking for stuff

"I remember Bacchus III. It was before I became Captain of the 4th Company, hen I was still a Battle Brother. We arrived in system after a nasty fight with the Dark Eldar. We took a thrashing that day. But we won, barely. So we retreated to the nearest Astartes system we knew, bacchus III, for they were also Sons of guilliman. We had heard of their legendary hospitality and the beauty of their little Garden World. But let me tell you. Words do not do it justice, at all. The air was the cleanest I ever breathed. The birds were singing, the sheep bleeting. And the people kind and sincere, simple as they were. The Abhumans were not oppressed or performing crime, they and the Revelers walked among the populace with little fanfare greeting everyone with a smile and wearing little to no armor. The food and wine, the finest I ever had. it was the cleanest and feshest in reality. Lamb in Tarragon Mint and Lemon juice with a fine aged Grape and Strawberry wine to wash it down. ...And now it is gone."

Here's what I've got for additional Death Watch crunch.
Characteristic Modifiers: +5 to two of your choice.
Chapter Rule: Direct Rule.
Organisation: Unique Organisation.

Solo Mode Abilities: This Chapter has been trained to spot minute disturbances of the warp pressing in on realspace. This attunement to the empyrean grants the character the Psyniscience Skill as a Trained Skill. The Battle-Brother may also re-roll any failed Willpower Tests to resist a psychic power.

Squad Attack Patterns: Tactical Finesse Action: Full Action, Cost: 3, Sustained: Yes. While this ability is in effect, the Battle-Brother and those within Support Range of him may make one Melee or Ranged attack as a Half Action (the Ranged Attack may only be made using the single shot rate of fire) and may then make a Half Move. A character benefiting from this ability may disengage from an opponent in melee without penalty.

Squad Defense Patterns: Courage Under Fire Action: Free Action, Cost: 0, Sustained: No. The Battle-Brother inspires those under his command to press on in the face of danger. When this ability is used, the Battle-Brother and any within Support Range of him may immediately recover from being Pinned. At Rank 4, those under the effect of this ability may also make a Half-Move as a Free Action.

I based our solomode ability around our past dabbling in the warp, and our warp tainted weapons. The squad patterns were based off of our use of auxiliaries. For the characteristic modifiers I thought about how everyone's pretty much free to pursue what they want with their own skills.
>>
>>63446264
I like it.

"Whereas other Chapters recruit from the Feral boys that have killed 5 men before their tenth name day, the Sons of Dionysus recruit from the sons of Shepherds, Fisherman and Deer Hunters. The quality appears to be the same in all honesty."

>Harpe Pattern Sword
>A largely ceremonial weapon among the SoD/Revelers, it appears as a straight sword with a curious horn/hook coming of the side of the blade. It's origins come from a tool used to defend Shepherds from wolves and to perform castration of sheep and goats
>>
>>63446341
We've also got to integrate our warp tainted weapons.
>>
>>63446400
They look like normal blades with runes and images right? And are weird in they produce status effects on targets/wielders if they lack the mental and spiritual fortitude to handle it. This means they are restricted to higher ranking members and those deemed worthy to carry them
>>
>>63446446
Lower ranked than you might think, due to all this exposure over time they've built up a resistance to it. And yeah probably look like normal weapons except glowing and on fire.
>>
>>63446483
>Be me, Far Hunter Marine
>We finally caught up to a Company worth of Revelers, the Traitor dogs
>As we cut off their escape routes and begin boarding, we have learned well from previous attempts
>Boarding shields and meltas ruele our strategy
>Let the degenerates crash upon our shields and incinerated
>Where did these meadows come from? Why is it so big and open?
>Suddenly a Degenerate comes around the corner with a Flaming Sword that sings
>Wut.Vox

So on the FH. They've been effectively in a 7 millennia penance crusade, what are their numbers/gear like? Poor? I imagine they also have to aid local efforts from time to time which saps their strength which could be used to hunt the Revelers. They could be spread out with each detached fleet being larger than typical from added Destroyers and Frigates along with non void capable gunboats acting as parasite craft.

4.Constant fighting.

>>
So what sort of special stuff should the FH have? Improved bikes, weapons, sensor suites?

How about Cyber Wolves they use as companions and as scouts/distractions against enemies
>>
Shit I just realized we need an advanced table for our dudes in Death Watch. We have a couple fitting options.

Knowledge is Power
Command Without Doubt
Secret Lore
Daemon Bane
>>
>>63447085
Can I get a rundown on those?

And I really like Cyber wolves for the FH. Sort of as a mirror to the Revelers.
>>
>>63447151
Space Wolves already have Cyber Wolves they use for that exact purpose.

Knowledge is Power-Lots of Forbodden lore, and hatred of Dark Eldar
Command Without Doubt-Lots of extra command and abilities associated with it. Works well with our auxiliaries style lore wise.
Secret Lore-Lore on the warp, strong minded, +awareness. Works well with how we've said they use warp tainted weapons.
Daemon Bane-Strong minded again, Daemon lore, just fuck daemons shit up basically.
>>
>>63447237
I know the SW use Cyber wolves but they're not truly 'Wolves'. But I'm at a loss on special equipment/homegrown stuff for them. Maybe a long barreled Bolter used for Marksmen? Or some sort of Bke mounted artillery system

Just throwing this out there. The horses while descended from those of Terra have changed wildly. The equines known to the locals as Mares of Diomedes are a purely carnivorous species which evolved another set of limbs to stabilize them on the cliff faces, along with their increased size. Slepnir style.
>>
>>63447447
I love it. They have extended jaws and two rows of teeth to better eat their prey. As a terror tactic the Hunters will broadcast them feeding captives to their Mares to scare the minto submission. They also have almost talons/toes on their hooves to provide more traction on slopes. These are separate legs that can be swapped out as the situation demands

And they are scarily intelligent almost human like by many estimations

Sort of how they look in a sense with armor.

The frigid Steppe world where they originated and the Hunters hailed from has innumerable stories about the Mares ferocity and cruelty towards the Feral nomads that called it home.

They have improved senses like smell and infrared vision to better seek out prey in the black ice cold nights. Their skin is tougher to withstand the biting winds, sleet and arrow heads of the tribes people.

Their jaws can easily tear a man in two, and have prehensile tongues with the texture of a cat to strip bone clean of flesh.
>>
>>63447447
>>63447539
>>63447614
Due to the scarcity of food they evolved very tight knit and territorial herds and a respect for strength. This was how the Far Hunters first bonded and "domesticated" them first a Far Hunter must prove himself worthy of riding one, then one of the herd shall chose him. This forced mutual respect and duality of feral brutality forms an unbreakable bond between them as equals.
>>
>>63447689
When the Far Hunter rider dies it is a chore to have the Mare bond with another. Many simply either go cationic and simply stop living or go mad. Both cases end with the Herd killing and eating the maddened mare.

Due to this Bond, the Mares have a poor view of other humans and beings. They have been known to play tricks and kill/eat Serfs unlucky enough to tend to them.

Their intelligence is such that there has been known cases where they have given their thoughts on military plans and can hold conversations with their riders. They have an understanding of the self and even abtract thinking
>>
>>63447768
So they've become minor Xenos? Would it be better to have the talking more as a rumor.

Also we taken and essentially mashed the myths of the Mares of Diomedes, Sleipnir, and Keplies and mashed them together. I don't know about you guys but I'd play both these chapters.

They converse through body language more and the Hunters have learned enough to hold conversations with them

So would I. I imagine other Marines would be creeped out by them. And the WS would be sort of jealous they have Horses that can carry them into battle.

Common decorations for the Mares are the scalps, body parts and heads of their enemies. Armor tends to be scaled barding with helms having horns and flares to further accentuate the Mares' bodies.

Th e Hunters also like Tulwars/Scimitars for both in and out of the saddle. Simple spears, both normal and explosive tipped are common equipment
>>
Also guys we still need an advanced table for the Revelers.

Knowledge is Power-Lots of Forbodden lore, and hatred of Dark Eldar
Command Without Doubt-Lots of extra command and abilities associated with it. Works well with our auxiliaries style lore wise.

I wonder of the logistics of these Mares. Dothey still get shipmnts from their homeworld despite losing ownership thanks to the Penance Crusade? Or did they port some onto another world so they could breed and expand numbers to acquire at a later date?
>Be horse farmer on some world
>Marines want to hire me and others out so their Horses can breed since resupply is iffy for them>Agree, good money and prestige

CWD and SL work best here.

They seem less about Knowledge and don't fight Daemons often enough.

I feel like both chapters being sympathetic makes this work. The Far Hunters are this ragged band, ships, equipment, and even power armor obviously scrounged and held together by countless hours of maintenance, ingenuity, and the sheer will to not give up, to not abandon the crusade and compromise their loyalty.

Many who encounter them see a ragged and savage band, who over long lonely millennia have learned a way of war that is based on lightning speed and total economy of action. Their parent chapter would not recognize them; even those they have come to resemble, the Wolves or the White Scars would regard them as impoverished. There is none of the Wolves proud bravado, none of the Scars hunts or grudges, there is their crusade, and there is revenge; and to most who look that is all there is to the Hunters.

But not all that they carry can be seen easily. And it is not truly revenge that drives them. For the Far Hunters still dream of a glory that never was. Their songs and stories still speak of some distant consummation of Zephyros' dreams of home. They still nurture the seeds of Bacchus that Zephyros carried to their barren world. In truth that is what carries them forward. That some day they will bury their brothers once and for all. And then return to their hard world, loyalty proven, past vindicated, slough off their ragged armour for a time, and make of that hard and barren place a green and golden garden.

Any sensible observer would look at them both and just tell them to stop. Send the Revellers out to the periphery where they may be of use and not offend delicate sensibilities, and send the Far Hunters home so as not to waste their strength chasing endlessly among the stars. Until they stumble upon someone who could give them such a command, they both carry on.
>>
>>63450297
We aren't posting anymore but you bring up a very good point. Very true on the Hunters' outlook on life and their crusade.
