Lemme make this clear, I’m no furry. I do enjoy humanoid animals to some degree but I hate the tried and true furshit I sometimes see most of the time. Really I just hate lack of creativity the furry fandom has for the most part. Doesn’t help that a lot of folks find anything unorthodox and unusual to be scary as shit. God forbid I make art about animals that aren’t fluffy cutie shit.
Sorry, I just hate 90% furries. it can’t be helped. But what I do enjoy is very unorthodox fantasy settings. I tend to get really bored with whole “elves, dwarves, and humans in Europe land” that litters fantasy a lot. The moment you move away from that, it’s not fantasy somehow? Then what the hell is it then? Just fiction? See, where I’m getting at is that I did homebrew setting awhile back that’s basically bionicle meets a bug’s life but here’s the catch, there’s no such thing as tiny humans.

No humans, period. With the exception of those misplaced into this world, humans are largely not common since they’re basically giants compared to my bug people. So really, can this whole dynamic work for rpg setting? And how can I avoid alienating players without having them be humans in bug exoskeletons.

tl;dr: ya cool playing a bug man?

I'm running BugWorld currently; to great and very fun effect at that! My whole group seems to really be enjoying ourselves. So, yeah!

Playing as a bug would be fine!
What kind of bugs, though? Bee? Ant? Mantis? Beetle? Swarm, maybe?
I mean, inonce tried to make a character who who was a walking swarm of bugs that could successfully imitate organs all latched on to a skeleton. You know, brain bugs, heart bug, eye bugs, that sort.
The character I made was thought to be neat, but since they were technically unkillable, so was vetoed.

>Can a world that lacks humans manage to work?
Definitely. While it's more of a development from evo games, do check out the evo/civgames of Primordial and Essari. Both have no humans, and the setting's quite fleshed out, sometimes literally. Primordial is more or less complete, while Essari's still developing (although you can set RPs in previous eras, which is complete).

Bee's are some of nature's hardest workers, it's unlikely they would have time for anything other than fulfilling their duties to their mother and sisters anyway.

But I'm sure they would appreciate the sentiment.
>>
>>63266622
You could probably get some cool plots going.

There is a species of ant that has no queens. Instead they have gamergate (yes that is the term), which is a dominant female who has an organ that releases pheremones that cause the other females to be obedient. She then has her subjects mutilate the genitals and organ of the other females at birth so they cannot be a threat to her. When the gamergate dies, the newborne ants keep their genitals, acausing them to fight eachother for the title of "new gamergate"
Play it in game as a city that has a huge enslaved workforce that doesn't realize they are enslaved. Have the population rise up, then put an equally bad ruler on the throne .

Dude horse flies are fucking tanks.
Have you ever tried to kill one? It takes two sandals to the face and gets back up to fly again.

Have them be the Uruks of the campaign: Big dumb tanky brutes that raid others for survival.

Maan, stop the tripfagging. Only furries, low-functioning autists, weebs and questfags trip.

But yeah i'm cool playing arthropods. Bug is too restrictive though. I mesn, you got leafhoppers, shieldbugs, assasin bugs, and that's it

That would be pretty cool though. Aquatic behemoths older than history that stalk the endless expanses of the deep.

I'm playing a bugman in a starfinder campaign full of non human players, although one is an aasimar. It's been fun so far, and the racial jabbing between players is hilarious. I enjoy playing up the "grossness" of my character, who basically eats everything through a star, and makes horrific slurping noises when doing so. I'm pretty much playing Dr zoidberg.

Since spiders spin silk, and spider silk has tensile strength comparable to steel.

How would that affect gameplay and lore, as well as the in-universe market?

Come to think of it, spiders may be a bit op. Other than bringing in Tarantula Hawk Wasps, I don't think making them playable would be good for balance.

I'm also very certain that quiet a few people come here for Bug-girl art, so here have a bug girl.
