I need some help with my custom Imperial Guard Regiment. This is what I rolled on the creation table.

Classification: Imperial Guard Regiment
Demographic: Vat-grown
Nature: Elite Tithe
Home World: Imperial World
Home world terrain: Ocean
Core: Shock Troopers
Specialization: Drill & Discipline
Loyalty: Unorthodox
Special Equipment: Specialized Lasgun Pattern
Creed: For The Homeworld: This regiment's mission is to demonstrate the skill and steel of the homeworld to the rest of the Imperium.
Friend: Adeptus Astartes
Enemies: Saharduin

Cause they're elite Shock Troops, I imagine they've got some good armor built for underwater combat. Kinda like how the Space Wolves just walked across the ocean floor once.

They probably come from underwater dome cities. How do you think we can flesh them out.
>>
bump
>>
>Imperial World: Devout citizens, loyal to the Imperium and raised by the Creed.
>Unorthodox: Serve the Emperor in ways frowned upon by most in the Administratum.
An odd contradiction.
Maybe they're so loyal to the Imperium that they will ironically break it's most basic tenets and rules in order to better uphold it's interests?
Or maybe they're just Reasonable Guardsman and as such are heresy to the Imperium.
>>
>>62492886
I figure it's due to them not acting in the most Inquisition approved ways, since they aren't going to be sending many inquisitors to the bottom of the ocean.
>>
>>62492676
They are called upon when amphibious or underwater battles will be assured. They are making a decent name for themselves due to their specialization, but also for being excellent at cqc/breaching due to armor and weapon choices. This has also made them pretty good at space borne boarding actions.
>>
>>62493119
Also for the special lasgun I found a weapon idea from Gundam of all places.

Phonon Masers come from SEED and are pretty much tightly packed and narrowly focused sonic weapons, they work best underwater but also quite good above ground though even shorter ranged.
>>
>>62493158
Sonic weapons, and occasionally leaving their normal battlegrounds underwater to help the Imperial navy with boarding actions. Now we're getting somewhere
>>
They definitely need some sort of sea related name though.

Like the Unbreakable Tritons or the Kraken Stalkers.
>>
The Ocean World they hail from is divided among three underwater nations due to the constant storms that plague the surface. The three still fight against eachother for one reson or another with a team up between two happening once ever clear sky. The Governor and tithe collectors put a stop to any real danger between them

The planet is technically the Trinary Union, or simply the Trident by the Regiment.

Rolling for how famous they are.

Higher the better
>>
>>62493433
Not bad maybe a little less known on average then other Regiments due to the fact they do aquatic combat almost exclusively.
>>
>>62492676
AIGHT SENPATCHI TACHI MAYNE

>Vat-Grown
Due to the paucity of space in an under-water city, most pregnancies are removed from the mother medically and grown in vats, then raised in civic creches (the Imperium doesn't really do cloning)

>Specialized Las-Gun
Obviously an amphibious model, it probably won't fire under water (but that's what combat knives are for) but can fire INTO water, and of course is itself sealed. To function properly around/into water, the las bolt itself would want to be on a shorter wavelength so it won't refract - so their lasbolts would be purple or blue. They would probably also use compact, high power models. So Hotshot Carbines/SMG's

>>62493199
>>62493158
Or this
>>
>>62493480
I like the Idea of the way the children being made natural but not the full term to save on space. Could also help them prevent mutations maybe(or add them to adapt underwater).

>Could also help them prevent mutations maybe(or add them to adapt underwater).

For aquatic operations, since these are regular guardsmen and not Tempestus, heavy diving suit like armor is out. But what they probably have is-

>A compression wet-suit with form fitting flak plates added to it
>a short term breathing aparatus and face mask
But rather than carrying canister air, it should carry liquid air. Wetsuit hoods, a breathing apparatus that plugs the ears and nose, goggles. They aren't rated for high depth but have no issue with pressure fluctuations.
>>
Because they live underwater so much in their formative years, few rrely see the sky. Only the wealthy and tithe do.

A clear sky is an omen of great change in their culture due to the storms.
>>
>>62493614
>A clear sky is an omen of great change in their culture due to the storms.
I like this, mostly because I like the idea of humans living underwater because the surface is constantly wracked by super hurricane force storms
>>
>>62493624
The great change typically means the tithe must be collected and thousands leave their home never to return. It is seen as both a joyous and heartbreaking event for the people of the Trident.
>>62493601
Maybe their Grenadiers could have the armor?
>>
>>62493597
TRUE! The krieg get away with it cause they send so many. Maybe the Unbreakble Tridents get away with it due to being one of the few solely aquatic forces or the cities are to far removed to check up on.

>>62493601
They might have some good armor due to being an elite tithe. Quality over quantity style of thinking and not being able to have enough children to keep up with heavy casualties.
>>
>>62493663
Maybe a clear sky is seen as a sign from the Emperor.
>>
Due to the stoems, most travel is done by Sub. And they are really good at making and maintaining them. Before the Imperium arrived and the Mechanicus got their mechadendrites on the manufacturing, their were less delays and accidents involved in their creation.

Models range from one man mini subs to huge troop/freighter carrier subs that ply the depths.
>>
>>62493749
Probably have variants decked out in weapons that make up for their lack of tanks.
>>
Mass produced oceanic shock troopers, dropped inside oceans, lakes and rivers inside five man drop pods, with one squad leader with a vox and four normal soldiers.
Squad leaders are usually augmented in ways that assist in breathing underwater and thinking better, resulting in many battles being a hidden captain that's hidden underwater directing four pawns.
In large battles, multiple squads will form into a pod. The captions will stay underwater and create a small "base" of sorts at the edge of the water, while the lower born soldiers charge into a machine gun placement to allow a V.I.P to escape.
Sound good?
>>
>>62493778
They rarely leave the planet though.Too little reward despite how good they are even the Mechanicus agree to that.

This'd be how they generally look in armor
>>
>>62493781
Excellent.

>>62493811
Love it maybe just slightly less bulky.

They'd also probably use massive submarines to get around and use as mobile bases. Wary of unfamiliar worlds oceans. Due to being aware of the massive predators that may be lurking there. These massive subs are also escorted by smaller fighter variants.
>>
>>62493870
I could see the Guard requisitioning the use of these Submariners Subs if it was really required to take a certain location.
>>
Are their dome cities like hive cities or are they a somewhat okay place to live?
>>
>>62493898
Have the Tritons swoop around out back if located by the sea and pincer attack would make a good tactic.

>>62493903
Probably very cramped due to not being able to expand out due to mechanicus interference, mixed with constant storms and large predators.
>>
You know I'm starting to wonder if we could get this fleshed out enough for 1d4chan.
>>
>>62493941
The underhiver crime is likely very low to nonexistent due to the dangers of being underwater so deep. They are very thorough in cleansing such criminals
>>62493955
If it can survive to morning.
>>
>>62493965
Oh god.

Also yeah that's a good point no one wants to risk drowning the entire city.
>>
>>62493941
I believe minmal genetic aberration would happen, such as webbing and small gills being on their throats.
These would be at the lowest levels of course, where the poor have to deal with constant slow flooding.
>>
>>62493991
Some increased strength and resilience for the soldiers to help them survive in combat at such high pressures would probably be necessary.
>>
>>62494021
Maybe dark eyes for better sight at depths? Improved lungs for greater endurance?
>>
>>62494021
Likely.
They are probably somewhat stocky, due to internal pressure keeping them alive a bit. Normal ground won't kill them, but will hate it.
The Emperor demands sacrifice however.
>>
>>62494085
These guys are total US Marines/Royal Marines in mentality.
>>
>>62494068
Good Idea

>>62494085
Being use to so much weight would actually probably make them faster or stronger on land.
>>
>>62494104
I imagine them being Gurkhas really.
Better to die for the emperor than be a coward for yourself.
>>
>>62494123
Rumors persist that mariners can rip a man limb from limb out of armor
>>62494127
True. Underwater Gurkhas
>>
>>62494123
Like the kingpin a bit.
Fat dad bod but it's ALL muscle.
>>
>>62494146
An offworld commisar assigned to them noted that "I never saw more steadiness or bravery exhibited in my life. Not a single marine would run when told they would hold a line that many acknowledged would kill them, and of their death they seemed to have no fear."
>>
A Regiment tradition is tattooing the name of your suits previous wearer after they died wearing it so you may take up their duties and avenge their honor so they did not die in vain.

The Submariners have adopted a number of traditions from Naval Armsmen during their time aboard transports.
>>
>>62494185
Fits well with [Drill & Discipline] also the commissars are probably thankful they aren't needed much. Probably be hard to shoot through such a armored helmet.
>>62494190
I like it. Reminds me of Davy Jones

Maybe the higher ups armor is passed from one to the other, causing them to have hundreds of engravings.

Battle of Crolla Three

The Submariners were called upon along with their naval transport group o aid a besirged Space Marine battle Barge. By the time they arrived the Chaos Marine ships had been driven off but boarders remained and were gaining ground.

The Submariners leapt into the fray and boarded the Battle Barge Incorruptible Duty and aided in cleansing the Fallen Angels.

It would be MCPO Daniel Locke who would ssave the Marines Gne Seed stores by sacrificing his life to slay three Chaos Marines from tainting the Gene Seed. For this, Locke was interred in the halls of the Chapter's heroes and thus began the friendship between the two
>>
>>62494240
Maybe the Star Krakens sometimes recruit from them, due to the above average quality of the people used.
>>
>>62494185
I can't get the idea out of my head of skuma men with big flippers angry charging a horde of orks
>>
>>62494375
>skuma

It is a funny picture.
>>
>>62494288
Since then the Space Krakens and Unbreakable Tritons have fought together many times. Even sometimes using their world Patéras Charybdis for recruitment.
>>
Recovered audio from a captains black box:
>"Pod five, do you copy?"
>Vox static is heard
>"Pod five, I repeat, do you copy. Firing Fox 4 en masse on heretics, your soldiers were to be used for a distraction."
>No answer is given, and static continues
>"Terminating vox with pod five, attempting charge."
>"All units, Tally, engage heretics, we shall join you above ground. Emperor protect."
Due to charging a entrenched enemy line, the whole of pod 1 was lost, along with pod 5 that died from a failed drop into the ocean, killing most of the squads and due to the strategic importance of pod 5 being a distraction, this ended up resulting in the death of pod 2 and 3, with only pod 4 surviving.
>>
>>62492676
its a shame there enemy isn't the T'au, that would kill my sides
>>
On Ciocarro a ocean world much like their own bordering tau space. The Unbreakable Tritons fought off a force of T'au and Saharduin mercenaries. The battle went on for months, but after the last Ta'u commander was killed the remaining T'au fled, and the remaining mercenaries rooted out.

Only one city was lost due to Saharduin shelling of the dome.
>>
>>62494416
>>62494288
Since then, Locke has become St. Locke due to his actions being broadcasted/spread across the Sector for his actions in aiding the Star Krakens. He is seen as a patron of the Guard and especially the Patron of the unbreakable Tridents themselves and a paragon of honor, duty and diligence for them.

The Banner of St-Locke is a treasure the Regiment has displayed on their homeworld for all new recruits to see and be inspired by.

Locke's mother was the first to be presented with news of his Sainthood. With a tear in her eye, she said "I guess he did prove us wrong."

In waters that even their suits cannot withstand, they hazardous operations protective peacekeeping emergency response suits are used, which require lots of leg work to use.
>>
>>62494644
Now I'm not saying it's impossible, but I doubt that such art exists.
>>
Does anyone have that pic of the Submarines being air/orbital dropped by a spaceship? I like to think that such a plan too place with these guys.

The Guard couldn't take the Ocean planet without resorting to exterminates and so took several of the Triton regiments and put them together as an invasion force along with their Submarines.
>>
>>62494646
There own suits should probably be enough to sustain the pressure due to the fact they've been so specialized for this type of combat.

Also guys should they have their own name for the Emperor due to the superstition of clear skies. Like "Ocean lord grant us favorable currents."
>>
>>62494702
Not just pressure, but the water itself is more like acid, or is so hot it's too much, so the Hopper suits are used.
"Storm king" works well.
>>
>>62494463
I wonder if they are active on swamp worlds? or other areas where amphibious units would be extemely valuable. Imagine them coming out in force, hundreds of silent helemeted men striding out of the surf or swamp sluge to lay waste to a tau encampment. or better yet...

>>62494772
True, but they aren't making much noise outside of that. and in most cases an army will put their backs to a river or body of water becaue common sense dictates "they can't flank you from that position." >>

Space marine, and daemon weapons work fine under water. So still fighting chaos. Tau works in water too. Sahardins, some other races too. Plus large predators.

And at deep depths moving in waters going to be sluggish anyway so they probably won't complain at having to run at a slow jog at most.
>>

And as stated, the soldiers go above water often, used by commanders like you use people in Xcom.

Okay stuff we've established:
Cramped cities, remove fertilized eggs from mothers and vat grow them the rest of the way. Some mutations, Black eyes, stocky, larger lungs, increased resistance to deep depths, stronger and faster on land due to being adapted to higher pressures. Use subs for transported, mobile bases, and mechanical support.

Homeworld is Patéras Charybdis. 3 city states at war, kept in line to not destroy eachother. Called collectively The Trident.

Medium armor, with sonic weapons that act as shotguns on land, and rifles in water.

Friends with the Space Krakens after saving their gene-seed from corruption.

St. Locke is held as a saint from their regiment.

Call the Emperor Storm King, Tempest King, and Tempest Lord. Depending on city.

not sure if already suggested. maybe because they are so used to fighting in their unique water environment and they are shock troops, maybe they are easier to train and better than other non-specialized regiments at fighting in zero or low gravity environments.

i know nasa trains astronauts underwater before going to space, something to do with training underwater and how it comes close to mimicking movements in zero grav. who knows, because they are friends with Astartes maybe they can travel on certain vessels boarding troops. let me know what you think, op

They come from very cramp cities and are elite troops (even the non-shock troopers). So they probably have smaller regiments. Probably around 4000 a regiment.

What should we call their commander I'm thinking Colonel Daniel Jones.

>>62495379
Probably Large sonic cannons, and torpedoes.
>>
>>62495379
Actually wait maybe they've also domesticated some of the larger predator, and use them for shock value
>>
>>62495295
>>62495285
Well my idea was more deep abominable horrors than just beasts you can hunt. Like, the whole reason there are 3 warring city states is because the original settlers were actually controlled by these creatures, and they were used as proxies in battles of domination. Then the Emperor and his Crusade arrived, and the Emperor basically just shit blasted through the warp storm and actual storm, making the surface calm for the first time in centuries
>>
>>62495437
I imagine that they would have modified plasma guns that instead of putting out heat in a magnetic bubble would shoot out a ball of electricity in a magnetic bubble, might not be practical as a infantry weapon but as a replacement for mortar It could work
>>
>>62495465
yes and to follow there emperor they hunt down the xeno scum that once held them down
>>
>>62495465
I really like that. Also what I was talking about was a beast CONTROLLED by those creatures. Like they occasionally attack with hordes of dominated predators or send huge leviathans. While the watchers themselves are prisoner in their trenches. Hunting one is so rare maybe cause it means breaking its prison.

>>62495480
I like that Idea the bubble reaches the enemy pops, and either the electricity kills them or fries there stuff.
>>
Guys, i'm talking to my Science Friend (TM). Any kind of MASER/SASER sonic weapon powerful enough to have any kind of effect would basically cause instant catastrophic cavitation under water, IE, a huge exploding imploding bubble that cooks anything around it Which would be fantastic except if you were like, holding it. Would kill you and every mother fucker close to you.

Lasers will still work, but suffer refraction. Masers will still work, but will basically cook the water/cause intense heat along the path, and generally be energy inefficient. Water is basically always going to get in the way, so he says the way to avoid that is to get the water out of the way, or align the water in a way you want.

His words:

"then you could burn shit to their heart's content
the water is always going to intercept some of the energy
so the only way to avoid that is to get the water out of the way
or get the water to align in a way you want it to align
..honestly if I were looking to ruin someone's day and I had a big fucking power source
like, a big fucking power source (tm)
you could probably get a maser array, arranged just right, so that it can essentially focus its energy on a target point and cause the water to essentially explode
and anything with enough power to do that underwater could basically turn a living thing (so long as it's got a high water content) into an exploding mass of chunky salsa
and note I'm saying "array"
if you have all the energy coming out of a single beam
the water is just gonna fucking explode as steam all the way between you and the target
essentially what I'm saying is that you could probably do a maser version of Archimedes' "death ray"
it'd be smaller, easier to operate, so long as you had the juice
I'm not familiar with the power sources of 40k
but I have to imagine there's something ridiculously overpowered enough but small enough to bring death to the universe's sealife"

In other words... Lascannon, not lasgun.
>>
>>62495536
I'm sure they can find a way for it to not kill their own troops. But maybe that MASER cannon could be their version of heavy weapons. Breaks out what looks like a standard rifle aims it at a enemy troop and just obliterates them. Takes a while to recharge though.
>>
>>62495536
we are talking about sci-fi, sonic weapons are cooler than standard flashlights so im going to stick to the rule of cool

> I imagine they've got some good armor built for underwater combat
Sounds like Solar Auxilia which aesthetically fits the bill and in terms of equipment fits the bill (+1 lasguns and hardened carapace armour rated for void (and I suppose underwater) combat).
>>
Do they import their troops oxygen form a forge world or do there cities extract the O2 from the water?
>>
>>62495595
Not necessarily a standard rifle, but i'm thinking a squad level heavy weapon, all the way up to the main gun on a vehicle

>>62495618
Sonic Weapons are cool but so are harpoon guns powered by gas canisters.

In fact, you could steal lots of shit from the X-Com TFD arsenal

>>
>>62495661
I imagine they have Algae farms that act as natural filters.
>>
>>62495673
Harpoons aren't going to work well against heavy armor like chaos or t'au so that's a no go.

But yeah let's make MASER's the vehicle cannons.
>>
>>62495677
>>62495661
Yes, Algae farms. In fact, their suits o2 canisters could be a fluid solution with an algae growth inside of it. Every soldier must take care of their algae canister, because it provides their oxygen supply.

>>62495689
>Harpoons aren't going to work well against heavy armor like chaos or t'au so that's a no go.
well neither are Lasguns

>>62495638
I will never not love the look of Solar Aux and yeah, this is a very good look for something like their Stormtroopers or heavy assault units
>>
>>62495706
Well they've got a lot of Storm Troops so that's good.

But also not only are sonic weapons cooler (if a bit out of science), but they've been shown to be effective in 40k. Even enough lasguns can melt through power armor, but I don't see that with harpoons unless using to much power. So let's just keep sonic for the rule of cool and fun.

They need some conflict in their backstory. Gimme some Alpha Legion aligned cultists trying to drown entire cities, Captain Squigbeard and his band of ork pirates raiding the high seas, some sort of native underwater xenos they are at war with or wiped out. Something.

Their world is a home to an immensely powerful, ancient xeno species that was driven to near extinction by the great crusade. A few still live in secret in the deepest parts of the ocean, hiding. It is their pyschic influence that keeps the storm going, and their malevolence that continues to pit the cities of the Trident against one another (though the Imperium's standing policy of 'eh, whatever' doesn't help either)

Though a race of aquatic orks sounds like a fun idea too
>>
>>62495924
>the aquatic orks are the descendants of a crashed ork rock from long ago
>they are now engineered and controlled by the deep watchers
>the aquatic orcs are a more bluish green (being now a type of algae rather than fungus)
>they have webbed fingers and toes and fin like ears
>they will often decorate their heads and faces with squig-kelp to create flowing manes and beards

On the ocean world of Pulvis two regiments of the Unbreakable Tritons, and a force of the Abyssal jaws fought against a large warband devoted to khorne. The planet was considered lost, all cities overwhelmed and corrupted. The enemy force larger than anticipated, no doubt it would consume the system.

As the Imperiums forces fell a retreat was called. The Imperium would rather let the world be destroyed then fall to chaos, with no weapons on hand capable of Exterminatus they were forced to turn to alternative methods. High grade explosive were planted at the meeting point of two tectonic plates that once detonated would rip the planet apart.

As the Imperiums forces began to warp away Colonel Daniel Jones realized the second regiment had not returned to their ships. He found out they had stayed behind. While still in range he voxed the second regiment's leader Colonel James. "You are committing treason! We have been ordered to retreat."

Colonel James only response was a stony. "I've discovered the enemy has found out are plan and are currently in route to the explosives. Me and my men are staying behind to make sure the mission is successful." Silence was all Colonel Daniel could muster.

"My men have engaged the enemy, and there is only a few minutes left... Tell mother I'm sorry and that I'm not coming home. May the Tempest Lord watch over you little brother."

Those were the last words Colonel Daniel heard before they entered the warp. He sat there in silence for hours before muttering. "Tempest Lord welcome you brother."

Thanks to the second regiments heroic sacrifice the planet was destroyed, and the warband stopped before it could truly start.

What about harpoons? Do they use those? I kinda get a kick about these guys doing the whole rambo thing, where they kill a guy on a dock, but one catches the body so it doesn't make a splash. That whole commando route that drives fear into the hearts of your enemies. Given the proper equipment they would be quiet, difficult to detect, and could move to just about any position undetected so long as they had a water route. I like the idea of them being unintentionally terrifying, I think it goes well with the whole underwater Gurkha theme.
>>
>>62496111
The Deep Watchers were made by the old ones from an intelligent species of cephalopod. They proved to be to hard to control and too hungry for power.

Considering them failures the Old Ones abandoned them on Patéras Charybdis. Locked in an eternal slumber till the humans awoke them.

Andrea was a Oceanic Pskyer of the Unbreakable Tritons 1st Regiment. She sunk through the water her squad having been destroyed by a Mer'ork rocket. Herself blown into one of the many trenches of her homeworld. After what felt like hours she finally collided with what she thought was the ocean floor. She flipped herself around and felt an engraving, standing up in shock she knew exactly where she was, what she saw only confirmed it. Beneath her was a large door made of what appeared to be stone, engraved was a human skull that has had it's lower jaw removed and replaced with a mass of tentacles. This was the vault of a Deep Watcher.

Suddenly the ground heaved throwing her several feet. A dark presence pressed its self at the back of her mind. "Oh... I thought a felt someone out there." It spoke with a malicious laugh at the back of her mind. "Would you be a dear and let me out of here. This place is so... restraining."

"You can't deceive me monster." She said with fire. "I know what you are! And I would never free you from where you belong."

"If you know what I am? Then you should why you should be afraid." The dark laughter died away, and was soon replaced with a pain that felt like someone was ripping her mind apart with hooks.

She writhed and screamed before shouting out. "Stop this!"

"Then you'll let me out?" It asked like a question but it already knew her answer.

"Never!" She spit. The pain continued only for a moment before stopping.

"Then you're of no use to me." It said coldly. Suddenly psychic power the likes of which she never even knew existed flooded her body. Breaking the lens of her helmet.

Her body was found several hours later on the rim of the trench. Suit rupture from the missile ruled as cause of death.

The Unbreakable Tritons hale from the world of Patéras Charybdis. An oceanic world completely covered in water and near neverending storms. This world lies on the far reaches of Imperium space, and is only checked on rarely due to the deadly weather. One would be a fool to think that life becomes any clamer beneath the waves. On the planet lies three city states founded in the age of strife constantly at war with each other, only stopped from destroyed each other out of necessity and interference by imperial agents. Collectively these city states are known as the Trident.

When these cities were first founded they were enslaved by a species, similar to the mythical Kraken of old terra, these being would become known to the people of the Trident as the Deep Watchers. The Deep Watchers are a species of powerful psykers resistant to chaos. They were uplifted by the Old Ones from a race of large intelligent cephalopods that served as the planet’s apex predator. They were found to be too power hungry and rebellious before being discarded on their homeworld locked in an eternal slumber. Before the human settlers woke them up at least. When they awoke the eternal storms of the surface began.

For 3,000 years the cities fought for their masters as religious zealots. But all of that changed with the coming of the Emperor. He used his psychic might to calm the raging storm, and locked the Deep Watchers in vaults entombed in the darkest trenches. The Emperor was hailed as their savior, and now is remembered the names Storm King, Tempest King, Tempest Lord, and many others. Clear skies have now become an omen of good fortune to the people of Patéras Charybdis. Viewed as a sign from the emperor himself.

Over the millenium the people of the Trident have changed and the cities become more cramped, the mechanicus not allowing them to expand out. To save space and productivity fertilized eggs are removed from their mothers wombs, and grown in vats.
>>
>>62497256
Many have also adapted better to their ocean life. Your average Trident citizen may at first appear stocky and portly. But this is due to having adapted to such high pressures. In fact one will discover on land that they are all muscle, the water acting like a weight has made them faster and stronger on land then the average human. Another common feature is black eyes to allow them to see better at low light depths.

They also use specialized sonic weaponry, rather then the standard las weapons of most guard. Their homeworld’s terrain also means standard guard vehicles are less then effective, causing them to have phased out standard tanks in exchange for submarines. Larger subs act as mobile bases and troop transports, while smaller ones act as infantry support. These vehicles are typically equipped with MASER’s that impact their targets with explosive force.

Their sonic weaponry has caused them to adopt the tactic of breaking glass in space, and underwater.

Patéras Charybdis is under constant attack from Saharduin raiders, and a Ork sub-species known to the locals as Mer’orks. A Ork rok having crashed into the world several decades ago, and the Orks being changed by the Deep Watchers. They quickly found them to be uncontrollable in large numbers. Mer’orks possess black eyes, and a more blue tint to their skin, along with webbing between their toes and finger accompanied by gills. They also have a tradition of using hair squigs to create long flowing manes and beard.

Notable Characters:

Colonel Daniel Jones: Leader of the Unbreakable Tritons 1st regiment. Has lead several offenses in T’au space and helped to save multiple worlds.

Colonel James Jones: Older brother of Daniel Jones. He sacrificed himself to make sure the world Pulvis was destroyed before it could fall to a khorne warband.

St. Locke: Helped defend a battle barge from chaos space marine boarders. Held the line and prevented the Space Krakens gene-seed from being corrupted by the ruinous powers. Was heralded by both the Space Krakens, and Unbreakable Tritons as a hero. Is considered a saint by his homeworld.

I have to go to work soon, but the story of St. Locke I'll work on later but it's my favorite part. Due to the spread of the Tritins and rumor the veneration of St. Locke has become increasingly widespread over the last century and has reached much of the Subsector the Tritons originate from. This has been a boon to their homeworld's economy due to all the pilgrims that pay to visit the world St. Locke came from. He has also become notably beloved by the Guard and Naval Armsmen in the Subsector as well.

Maybe I'll change it so Locke was the acting Officer of the group he was a part of and they and some Serfs/Marines held the line against the CSM. The CSM were really getting angry over the whole ordeal and decided to spit in the face and legacy of the Krakens by corrupting hundreds of geneseeds. Locke rallied the Tritons and merged them into the Chapter defenders for a last stand.

Changed to a new computer thanks to my shift.

The Unbreakable Tridents (whichever founding/tithe) are an odd blend due to their skill set. They are at home whether in the bowels of a ship or in the murky depths. This has led to odd situations where the Tritons have an unusual command structure and have innumerably fought and been tithed to both the Guard and Navy. While originally a Guard Regiment, the Tritons have fought more often on ships than on planets (though only barely, this is based on reports and mission statements compiled over the centuries since their founding).

The Tritons have since found themselves in an unenviable position between the Guard and Navy and caught in the crossfire of their rivalry
>>
>>62503581
Due to their common deployments from Navy ships as boarding specialists, the Tritons have been prime operators of the Shark Assault
Boats.

Though the Tritons also use the rest of the Navy's small transports when needed, they have grown a fondness for the Shark for its simplicity and effectiveness. Many Sharks used by the Tritons have been given Muniotorum/Mechanicus approved decorations from their homeworld to make them feel like habitation modules found in the Three Hives.
>>
The effectiveness of the Triton Regiments has led to a shortage of tithes from Patéras Charybdis. Not wanting to risk depleting the viable tithes of the planet and risking censure, the Governor, planetary Nobles and the Sectoral Command came to an agreement: a colony world to later produce more Tritons.

The plan took decades to get off the floor in typical Imperial Bureaucratic fashion, but was nonetheless stamped for approval. Thus baegan the colonization of another similar, though calmer in weather, sister world Patéras Scylla.
>>
Triton Regiments make use of all sorts of weapons, thugh there is a noticeable lack of non-specific heavy, long range weapons.

Though given their Modus Operandi this is acceptable, they must make use of as much space and weight as possible. Rocket launchers are the most common heavy weapon, capable of being outfitted with simple rockets, guided missiles of various kind or even Torpedoes custom made by the regiment Enginseers.

It has been noted by outside observers that the Tritons operate more like a Tempestus Scion/Storm Trooper group than a Guard Regiment.
>>
>Remember soldier, when the storm above howls, weighing your mind heavy with doubt. When the foulnes if the abyss encroaches upon your heart. Recite thine saving grace.
> Emperor above, Lord of the Great Tempest and Master of Seas, lend this Trident your steadying grace that it may do your work true.

-excerpt from the Three Paths Primer, an accompanying work of the venerable Guardsman's Uplifting Primer.
>>
>>62505088
Really fits the Tritons.
>>
>>62505088
Gonna flesh this out into something fitting the Unorthodox trait, let me know if it works or not.

The Three Paths are symbolic of the Triton homeworld's guardsmen, and oft mistaken as religious.

>The Primary Path, The Unyeilding Path.
The center prong of the Trident, the Unyielding Path touts a soldiers resolve for duty and steadfastness in battle as his saving grace. An emphasis on a calm mind, and orderly actions, the Unyeilding Path's teachings are followed to some extent by all members of Triton Regiments.
>>
Triton Regiments live very strict and regimented (heh) lives since before their induction into the Regiment Tithes. From childhood to adults they are constantly in training to be the best for the Emperor and Imperium.

Some have compared their lifestyle as being very close to the Adeptus Astartes, many believe there is evidence this is a more recent evolution to their training due to the closeness the Tritons have with the Sta Krakens who have began a very low amount of recruiting from Patera Charybdis.

This similarity has actually led to good relations and encounters when Tritons and Marines meet and work together.

To most Guardsmen, the Tritons are likely the closest they will ever get to meeting a true Astartes
>>
I prefer writing quick bullet point ideas if you guys don't mind. I can never get a long story across well enough.

Commissars who are ssigned to he Triton Regiments find themselves almost lounging around do to their diligence and self control. It is a running joke among them that they just lounge around while the Tritons do the work, sometimes even the paper work. While this is an exaggeration, there is some truth to it. Triton Regiments have a very low disciplinary infringement rate compared to most, even more elite groups.

There is another joke/apocryphal tale of a Commissar that was too lazy and was disciplined by his Triton Guardsmen and whipped into shape.
>>
>>62505517
>The Left Path, The Helmsmen Path.
The Left prong of the Trident, the Path of a Helmsmen is focused on tactics and the choices one makes during battle. Being able to look ahead and steer an engagement favorably are core components of this path.

Of note, it is not uncommon for soldiers to address a well liked, or competent officer as "Helm"
>>
>>62503790
Let's have it be Mitéra Scylla. Maybe make it the moon.
>>
>>62505598
>>62505727
Punishments in the Tritons for being disorderly, lazy and the like are especially harsh. A common punishment is flogging of the offender by his squad-mates, one lash each. A certain design is tattoo'd unto the forehead and the hair is completely shaved off to prevent hiding it (if they are already bald they are given a treatment to grow hair to be shaved). This tattoo denotes to all of the offenders crime. There is no set time limit set by the Regiments, it tends to vary depending on situation, age of the Regiment, the will of the Colonel/Commissar.

The longest recorded tattooing was approximately 20 years. Until the tattoo is removed the punished are restricted from promotion beyond a certain rank and reduced liberties/freedoms. Most tend to get it removed with in a year.
>>
>>62505754
>The Right Path, The Flowing Path.
The Right prong of the Trident, the Flowing Path is probably the least devoutly followed path. The teaching of this path espouse action, measured and directed in the completion of a task to the letter.

This path, though faintly followed by the majority of Triton regiments, has a following in the few recon elements that do exist.
>>
To make it so the rivalry between the cities of the Trident does not interfere with their duty, Triton soldier will be selected at birth being raised communally with their future brothers in arms.

At age 5 they will be reunited with their families. They will be given a test to see if any rivalry as formed at the age of 15. If so they will be shipped off for 1 year of reeducation.
>>
Okay guys I'm going to start that 1d4chan page in about half an hour.
>>
>>62506158
Cool beans.

One of the most interesting parts of the Tritons training takes place after some time of training together. While they are sleeping in their barracks the room begins to flood prompting the Watch to wake and Officer to organize an escape.

It is not uncommon for their to be deaths among the trainees, these deaths are used to instill readiness and quick thinking to efficiently escape from dangerous situations.
>>
Members f the Tritons are actually quite learned due to their specialization compared to other Guardsmen. An average Triton is knowlegable in manners such as hydrodynamics, basic sonar understanding, armor maintinance and a host of ther topics they are expected to recite with nigh perfect clarity when their Officers request it.

It is a common occurrence for Commissars attached to the Tritons to be trained/taught in these subjects so as to keep pace with the Regiments and not slow them down.

The Triton Regiments have a somewhat difficult time with interacting with other Guardsmen owing to their training, upbringing and lifestyle. It is not uncommon for disagreements and altercations to break out, typically by other Regiments, due to the perceived "Up tightness" of the Tritons and their seeming dismissal of other Guardsmen not of their kind.
>>
Okay we need a regiment size. I'm thinking 1-2000 a regiment. They aren't numerous but each is an elite soldier in his own right.
>>
>>62507026
Sounds good. I always thought that proper Line Regiments are tens of thousands strong given the scale of fighting in 40K

Notably they use an outdated prototype for the standard plasma gun.

Modified by the tech priest of the local forge world this gun shoots out electricity in a magnetic bubble rather than heart.
While this is much less effective than standard plasma in the dry, there preferred battlefield of under water makes this weapon a deadly form of anti infantry artillery.

Okay we need to talk about these city states and there identity.

I'm thinking we got Notiaía mítra, the most open city and's the main supplier of food on the planet. Sure all three cities have algae farms but the other two don't make enough to feed their citizens, just refresh the oxygen, and feed a few.

Morfí chál, is basically a large manufactorum It's what makes all the special gear of the the Tritons. It also supplies the other cities with subs, weapons, and tools.

Rogmí, is the mining city. It extracts the planets resources and refines them.

If they cut off trade during war so does the other city, and they're forced to use the third city to proxy buy.

Any other Ideas for the trident.

Hmmm... how about some celebrations?

The Imperial citizens of Patéras Charybdis celebrate all the same holidays and events that the rest of the Imperium does. Many take on a native/local flair due to the constraints and nature of their homeworld. Sanguinala in particular is held in deep esteem especially in recent years due to the sanctifying of St. Locke and his martyrdom while defending the Geneseed vaults of the Star Krakens.

The tenants of Sanguinala, self sacrifice for the greater good, introspection of oneself and the opposition of Evil/Chaos has had a new light shone on it within the vulture of Patéras Charybdis and the Tritons.

St. Locke's defense of the Star Kraken's Geneseed Vault is seen by many both on and off of Patéras Charybdis as mantling Sanguinius' duel with the Arch Traitor Horus and his holding the Eternity Gate against the Traitors. A common depiction in the Cathedrals of Patéras Charybdis of St. Locke is rendition of a famous painting of Sanguinius holding the Gates.

Kit Dorn

Swordmaster of the 1st Unbreakable Tritons. More than his keen mind or swift blade, Dorn is most renowned for his near mutant appearance. Originally when he was born he was as human as the rest of his Hive. But as the years dragged on during training for the Tritons his recessive mutations came to the fore. At first his trainers and officers were unsure of what to do, Kit was a model student and Emperor fearing citizen of the Imperium. His mutations were largely aesthetic by analysis by the local gene clinics. But the Cult were themselves unsure of the situation. To punish Kit for such misfortune when he showed no signs of betrayal or heresy would open a can of worms give the populace of Patéras Charybdis.

It was decided by all parties, Kit included he would face a series of trials to prove his worth and purity.

He would slay mulriple sea creatures both in and out of his armor, he withstood both mental and physical abuse by the Clergy, his very Faith in the Emperor was tested in a manner of ways. But he passed all of themwith flying colors.

He has since taken command as the Swordmaster and Champion of the 1st Tritons and is seen as a model citizen of Patéras Charybdis no matter hat foreigners may say of his appearance.

They walk along the ocean floor. Use sonic weapons, and MASER for heavy weapons, along with Pulse grenades. For vehicle support they use small fighter submarines with larger MASER's.

That's what's been agreed upon so far.

Are the merorks under total control or do the watchers just heavily influence them

I actually really like that Idea old exosuits that where used to work outside the dome before now refurbished into weapons.
>What they'd probably look like.

>>62512057
Heavy control but kinda abandoned them because when you get to many the waagghh over powers their control and they rebel.
>>
>>62512080
I imagine the MerOkz use goldfish jars with pipes stuck in them to breath underwater.
>>
>>62512109
They got gillz, but some of them probably do that cause they're to stupid to realize they can breath underwater, and the bowl ain't working.
>>
>>62512123
Imagine them trying to invade the surface but they can't breathe. Then they just run back to the water and hold their water logged shootas out of the water and just spray the targets.

But they could have ships that are filled with water that surface to fight and get blown apart by lightning.
>>
The bowls are just part of the storm boyz counter culture, yah they have gillz but the bowls are good hats and when you go to high up they help breath. Storm nobz can be called bowl ‘eds

Their Boss is in a giant Bid Daddy Mek Armor filled with water and little fish that are his pets.
>>
Whats his name? Da Big Bossey? Fishgutta?
>>
>>62512315
Big Bossey Whalesnikka

He's extra big due to being underwater.
>>
>>62512327
Got a majestic beard and mane too. That's important to Mer'ork culture.
>>
>>62512351
His beard is inhabited by his pet Crab Snibbens.

There is also the seahorse Jackie.
>>
Will he have a rivalry with PDF captin Ahab?
>>
>>62512373
Goddammit now we have to make a page for a Mer'ork tribe too. Flesh them out too.
>>
>>62512415
Whalesnikka rides on a giant whale creature cybered up by the docs under his thrall. It was merged with various Triton Subs. It's whale song is amplified through the Reverb Cannon fitted to it
>>
Will we be developing them here or will you put up another thread?

We could do it now, size wise they'd be the largest option due to living underwater.
>>
>>62512461
We'll make another thread to flesh out the Tritons and mer'orks after I finish the 1d4chan page. Probably tomorrow for that thread.
>>
So when surface fighting happens dose that mean only mega armor can let them breath, ironically makeing them a super elite force when on land?
>>
>>62512498
Yes mer'orks elite on land. Tritons lose a bit of effectiveness.
>>
>>62512498
That's pretty terrifying. They speak through loudspeaker/Fog horns while roaring WAAAGHS. And they carry tank class weapons.
>>
>>62512517
They're all dreadnought sized. The boss is the size of a small knight.
>>
>>62512538
"By the Emperor..."
-Last vox transmission by a Triton Sub, destroyed by Big Bossey Whalesnikka's Mega Whale
>>
I imagin they have fog horns as weapons or attached to there weapons. because the louder the noise the stronger the weapon
>>
>>62512565
I'm guessing they picked that up from the Tritons
>>
We should remove the s in his name so ots Whalenickker be cause he looted a whale
>>
>>62512578
"By the Tempest Lord. The MerOrkz are learning from us..."
-Vox Transmission from MCPO Fraed Carver
>>
Noob here, is Kill Team a good way to start out? It basically seems like table top XCOM and it seems like a good way to try out the game without dropping 300$ and then not liking it.
>>
>>62512729
Yeah, but go ask the ktg over there.

While living in cramped conditions is nothing new to Hivers, the Charybdisians take it to a whole other level. The ever present threat of several atmospheres of pressure closing on the walls of their Hives has led to a complete lack of Claustrophobia and a healthy respect and fear of the oceans. The ever resent need to maintain their hives has led to a populace that is quite possibly second to none when it comes to underwater maintenance.

As such, the Charybdisians have a view that they are constantly battling for their very survival against the oceans that surround them.
>>
IT IS DONE! Can be changed to add some stuff from future threads

>>
Put the T’au green texts in the gallery, you missed them
>>
>>62513185
Along with info about Pods and how they fight
That was sorta cool
>>
So if the regular setting is a shotgun on land what happens when shater is uesed? Also are they in the deep seeing as they are pals with the Star Krakens
>>
>>62513307
They deep sea dive/walk a lot, and fight there. Shatter works fine but at closer range on land.

Sorry it took so long

Venator Altum (Deep Hunter/Hunter o the Deep) Cruiser Subarine

The most common Sub found under the seas of Patéras Charybdis bar none. Lond distance multi role Subs meant to perform all manner of tasks, while specialists may do well in their duty, the Venator Altum Class work best in patrolling areas where their versatility come to play.

Mare Umbra

Strike/Stealth Sub of the Tritons and the Trident. Built for stealthy, fast surgical strike on supply lines and infrastructure. Primary armament is torpedoes. Modern versions use the sound disruptors of the Emperor's nightmares to reduce sound to nearly nothing.

castra balæna (Barracks Whale)

The primary troop/personnel transport Sub of the Trident. While the Leviathan may carry more by sheer dint of size, the Whales are far more economical.
>>
>>62513928
Terminos (Biter)

One man attack mini sub. Armed with the smallest torpedoes possible and a axial maser cannon for dogfighting. Very weak and so need to be deployed en-masse.

Sapientia (Wisdom) class research submarine. Built for exploring not only the depths of Patéras Charybdis but also other ocean Worlds across the Imperium. Built to handle a variety of oceans and cataloguing new data
>>
While Patéras Charybdis is most famous for the Triton Regiments, they truly wish to be known also for their Submarine construction and exports. Many other Ocean Worlds have their own ocean going navies, but the presence of orbital warships renders most of them a moot point and fairly vulnerable. The Submarines of Patéras Charybdis are among, if not the most advanced and effective known to man. With the ever present storms that plague Patéras Charybdis, they have to be so the Trident does not implode into anarchy and self destruct.
