Welcome to the fourth thread for Swords of Avalon, a TG made setting involving Arthurian legend, cyborgs, mecha and giant Robot Dragons. The link below is to the current Google doc that covers the TimeLine leading up to when the setting takes place, that being several decades after the climatic battle of Camlann in which the Rogue AI Morrigan was beaten back by the knights of the Great Corporate houses.

Today's thread Topic, The life of the common man and what life is like after the Dragon's war.

Shit's fucked but getting better. Sure the largest and most stable collection of Humanity is controlled by Neo Feudal Dynastic MegaCorps. but at least there are jobs and people have Rights and Constitutions that are followed.
>>
>>61906865
Forgot the fourth thread: >>61802014

I dig the thread topic. Many many possibilities and most likely life differs much between planets depending its location, ruling Cavalier House and how the devadtation of the Dragon Wsr has been fixed.
>>
>>61906909
The Core Worlds suffered the least though they were in places decimated most have recovered quite well as the great houses built back up infrastructure though perhaps not as elegant as that most wealthy empire at least, as usuable. Indeed many worlds still remain livable even after the revolt of the Terraformers.
>>
>>61906942
We've been hitting on the high and mighty but the little guys need love to. For example can the common man afford perhaps not an interstellar ship but at least an old Cargo hauler between planets? And what forms do they take
>>
>>61906961
Starships are expensive to buy and maintain, so they tend to be owned by companies/Corps. Even a small and basic Yacht can be an expensive undertaking over time. Various terrestrial vehicles (Planes, Cars, Boats etc.) are more likely to be found in civilian hands, especially more civilian make.
Big/Advanced stuff is more in the hands in the wealthy obviously.
An example of an expensive trans atmospheric yacht that can sail in the Sea, Sky and Space under it's own power. Though it needs transport to get to space first.
>>
>>61906961
Some enterprising would buy or build space borne vessels. These smaller cargo haulers move goods between stations and planets. Often called Carts these humble hauling craft move much of the craft work needed by various intrasolar holdings. Some are subcontracted by the great houses but many are humbled in origin.
>>
Most Corporations have several Holidays that are celebrated throughout their year. Most often these are things such as the Founders day, a memorial for the Dragons war and even Employee appreciation. These holidays can be modest or extravagant affairs with the most raucous being on KAY city ships in which for a week the populace are freed of the usual, work routine to make merry. Troubadours flock to these to make money and many grand tournaments are held on these festive occasions. They also serve as times when nobility between rival houses might meet and settle matters peaceably.
>>
>>61907890
Based on the fact their was a fuck ton of holidays during the middle ages?
>>
>>61908001
More or less. Also gives the players fun backdrops for things like corporate espionage and intrigue
>>
>>61906995
While owning a ship is hellishly expensive, corp citizens can rather easily move between planets and systems owned by the same House amd its allies. Various popular Tourist attractions exist. This star-travel is accomplished by massive haulers moving materials between the common systems. Fdw humans hopping on is just a bonus.

Of course this applies only up to Mid Systems. Travelling futher away from Avalon is supfisingly restricted with the exception of surveyors and new colonists.
>>
>>61908818
This sounds reasonable. As new systems and routes are secured, more areas to travel for the citizenry are opened.
>>
>>61908818
The exception are the Pilgrim ships of the Monks of the Green Bible. These moving Church ships transport droves of citizens between planets such as Sol and the Frontier. Bringing those that follow the teaching of New Edenism to see Avalon, the home of man and kings and such wonders as the Martian Seas and Luna wherein the complete body of work of the holy order resides.
>>
So what would life be like if say, you were a Gael or Saracen?
>>
>>61909290
I don't think we've expanded much on the Saracens or Gaels.
>>
>>61909455
Good point a lot of attention has either been on adding in new cultures or focusing on Avalonian stuff. Also are Jotun canon?
>>
>>61909548
We could use them as Myths, things people has heard, perhaps some truth, perhaps only tall tales.
>>
>>61909750
Could work. Strange raiders from the edge of the Galaxy that use Cavaliers that are based on nothing within known space.
>>
>>61909290
I'd expect most Gaels and Avalonian Saracens (i.e. Palamedes) would be living mostly similar to Avalonians just with differing ethnicities.
>>
>>61909899
>Gaels focus more on heavy hitting frames and ferocity
>Saracens are a more mobile force with lots of Spear-line Cavaliers.
>>
>>61910444
Gaels also tend to be very family focused. With certain family names dominating parts of a settlement. These large extended families typically also have their chosen trade such as Machine-smith or algae farmer. Many can proudly trace their blood back to even before RoME.
>>
>>61911270
Sounds good. How can we differentiate the Saracens then?
>>
>>61911368
Saracens are the sort to wear their colors on their sleeve. Always eager to strike a deal they relish in their own individual freedoms and cherish independent living over many things. This is partly a knee jerk reaction to being neighbors to the Aegypti
>>
>>61911410
The interactions between the groups must be interesting. I want to read a short story where Avalonian, Gael and Saracen fight a small Dragon Nest.
>>
I know aegyptians have some flavours of this, but what do you guys think of having spehss byzantines ?
>>
>>61911738
We talked about that last thread and decided to fluff the existing factions: Gaels, Saracens, Saxons etc.
>>
>>61911738
Its doable really though not sure where they would be or what might set them apart.
>>
>>61911760
>>61910444
On saracens i wonder how should their "cavaliers" (not sure if there should be a different name for their mechs) look like ?
European knightly armors lend themselves pretty well to mecha designs, middle eastern armors meanwhile are lighter and mostly mail (Their facemasks are pretty cool tho).
>>
>>61911879
Maybe they use a more flexible over all armor or only embellish the head, chest and forearms lending a sleeker over all design to them.
>>
>>61911879
Cataphracts? Maybe they aren't so much dived amongst various classes: Daggers, Longswords, Lances. But instead have Light, Medium and Heavy Cataphracts with differeng weapon/equipment loads? This could be a solution to there perceived lacking industry, but it may be a repeat of the Broadhead Multirole craft from last thread.
>>
>>61906865
>The life of the common man and what life is like after the Dragon's war.
Despite the damage inflicted by the Dragon War, most humans under corp rule enjoy a fair amount of luxuries comparable to, if not surpassing, those of the early- or pre- Mercantile eras. Access to the remaining fragments of the Net are still used, though given connection difficulties (many Net terminal worlds were destroyed in the initial days of Dragon World) and a lingering fear of Dragon cultist subversion there has been a noticeable rise in public interaction, with many meetings now taking place in physical locales.

Physical labor is primarily manufactorial on the capital worlds, with millions of workers manning the massive Forge Factories that produce their employer's Cavaliers. In outlying systems, this is replaced by either agriculture or mineral harvesting. Skilled labor includes more conventional trades, like electrical and technical repairmen.

Not sure how much of this is good.
>>
>>61912140
Can be seamlessly integrated with what we have already.
>Infrastructure rebuilding has been a #1 priority among the Corps. since the Dragon War ended
>Without such infrastructure, material would have no where to go.

>>61911738
>>61911771
Bysantines are a RoME remnant, although they are nowdays led by an Emperor. Their space has been in bad shape ever since the Fall of RoME (although it enjoyed a brief moment of prosperity during Early Round Table).

Their space neighbors Avalon, Saracens and Aegypt. Having taken a significant hit from Morrigans Dragons, Bysantine is in a steep decline and basically has son to choose to be engulfed by Round Table or the Saracen within the next decade.

Yet military conflict is not desired for any, for the Spathion Swords of the Bysantheum are fearful opponents (and the Bysanthines are whispered to have a fearful arsenal of black nukes). Thus it is a setting of diplomacy, backstabbery and spies.

But lets not focus on them. I think that they are a interesting minor faction.
>>
>>61911939
Could work, i was thinking of keeping the weapon based names mostly because not a having a scimitar class mech would be a waste.
I picture the Scimitar class mech being like the sword class but lighter and more mobile with a focus on attacking while moving (The scimitar was designed to be easier to use on horseback and to strike multiple enemies while riding whitout getting stuck).
Any ideas for Tabar class (I am thinking of a lighter more mobile axe class with the double tabar class being the same but with moar dakka) ?
>>
>>61912706
One idea i had for byzantines is that while the aegyptians are superhuman through cybernetics the byzantines prefer to preserve the biological human form, enhancing themselves through genetic engineery (not freaky half-animal-mutant engineering, they look like normal humans but more "beautyfull" in a symetric statue-like way and are taller and stronger) or animuh-esque training that "unlocks their inner potential" stuff (If the later maybe the "potential" comes from sidhe genetic tampering ?).
>>
>>61912712
Making the Tabar a glass cannon Axe? Sounds good, the pilots of double heads probably joke about breaking their arms when using them.

>So on saracen religion, should we base it on islam or should they be pagans like the Zazamancs in pendragon ?

Zoroastrianism is fun. Also the important thing regarding Saracens is that they are *alien* in the minds of the Avalonians. So it can be weird things can happen. One stuff could be that there is multiple rumours/legends what the fuck Saracens are and we leave it for the GM to actually decide.

>Saracens are led by a renegade Black Knight of Mordred, now separated from Morrigan
>Saracens have several rulers who all are intermarried
>Saracens are outcast Aegyptian God-Charioteers who want to reconquer their lands.

>>61912140
The end of the Dragon War left massive holes in several corporations' hierarchy. Given the indiscriminate nature of Draconic attacks, corporations found themselves lacking in all fields of employment. In the wake of the war, young citizens of the new generation have started filling in every aspect

While this influx of new talent has lead to an immense amount of chaos in the otherwise rock solid (some would say aristocratic) corporate structure, it has come with an unprecedented amount of social mobility for the common man as corps seek any and all talent they can find to regain their prior dominance, even if these individuals would otherwise lack the connections needed to acces these positions.

Such openness does, however, come at the steep price of allowing infiltration. Beyond the everpresent fear of cultist activity, concerns over corporate espionage have started alighting now that the draconic threat has finally abated. While every corporation has sworn to the Round Table to disallow such dishonorable conduct, the reality of the situation means that each corporation seeks to fill the power vacuum left in the war's wake, whether it be through dominance in arms or sabotage and theft.

>>
>>61912140
On net terminals (Assuming they are some sort of spehss interwebs), i think instead of being like modern day with most citizens having multiple net equiped devices, it should take a more 80s approach with the net being acessed in bulky expensive corp owned machines.
>>
>>61913382
>>61909290
Gaels should have a more spread out rural feel. Instead of corporate megacities, smaller fortified settlements run by clans who specialize in one trade.
>>
>>61913725
The Saracens are sorta between: spread out rural tribes/nomads, and super cities. A lot of communal things though.
>>
>>61913453
>it should take a more 80s approach with the net being acessed in bulky expensive corp owned machines.
That sounds pretty cool. The Net should be accessible and a resource, but one that's bulky and unwieldy to use by anyone that isn't in the upper echelons of a corporation. Exclusivity being a big deal in keeping the common man from having easy access. Whether that's because of corporate greed (because corporations) or necessity (the Net got fucked during the dragon war), I'm not really sure.
>>
>>61913453
>>61913808
There is also Merlin and the Green Monk systems who feel like the highest level of the Net - and probably the only Interstellar level?
>>
>>61913808
>>61913938
Reminds a bit of how the church controlled knowledge in the medieval period, maybe have the Net use a different language making acess more difficult (Kinda like how religious texts were in latin and only priests knew how to read them).
There could also be some element of it being too powerfull to risk it being used by the wrong hands.
BTW who made the net ? Uther ? RoME ? The Sidhe ?
>>
>>61914080
>BTW who made the net ? Uther ? RoME ? The Sidhe ?
Yes. Sidhe--->RoME--->Uther in progress/design of the modern Net.
>>
>>61914132
>Sidhe--->RoME--->Uther in progress/design of the modern Net.
Huh. How did the Sidhe get it started originally?
>>
>>61914176
Leftover technology excavated by RoME.
>>
One notable element that i think is missing is the lady of the lake, Uther finds caliburn on a rock (The sword in the stone and excalibur are different swords in most versions).
>>
>>61914176
How common it is for someone to know the Sidhe or RoME language ?
Depending on how much i could see the net requring understanding of either of these languages to use.
>>
>>61914215
NVM there is a passing reference to a mysterious lady who develops caliburn into x-calliber.
>>
>>61914215
Are (EX)Caliber constructed from pure bullshitium Sidhe Tech? Because reading the Paradox Forest battle last thread I think it may be to survive the encounter. Maybe that's the secret to it's strength in addition to the bleeding edge tech PenDragon put into it?
>>
Random question but I assume you guys are King arthur nerds, If Excalibur was real wouldn't it look like a viking sword and not a standard long sword like it's depicted in movies/media.
>>
>>61914461
Excaliber is magic in all depictions, sometimes even sentient and of Fae make. It can look however the wielder, or itself, damn well wants. Sometimes itself is a Fae that looks like a sword.
>>
>>61914461
Vikings were not really a thing back then.
To give a idea of how early arthurian legend is compared to most medieval stuff; The saxons are invaders and the dominant culture in england at the time was romano-british/celtic.
A celtic longsword or a roman cavalry sword would be more appropriate; I'd make the sword in the stone a spatha and give excalibur a celtic design (Or even a migration period one depending of how much you want to pusht it with magic.)
>>
Any ideas for a Seax class and how to make it different from the short sword and dagger classes ?
The Seax was iconic enough that the Saxons were named after it; so i think it should feature in the setting as one of the Saxon's most prominent cavalier designs.
>>
>>61914393
I mean I wouldn't doubt it has some Sidhe bullshit in it,
>>
>>61912706
>black nukes
What are these ?
>>
>>61914939
Nuclear weaponry in particular Fission. Given the name as they are a proscribed weapon and do lasting damage in the form of vexing radiation sickness.
>>
>>61915035
How big are they ?
It would be cool if they could be mounted in cavaliers and served as sorta greek fire equivalent.
>>
>>61914260
>How common it is for someone to know the Sidhe or RoME language ?
In Mercantile times, knowledge of Sidhe language was generally provided to the public and could be explored and studied at a citizen's leisure. While it would take many years to properly master the strange and unintuitive syntax, most had a working knowledge of the system. Those who sought to pursue serious work with the Net, collectively known as the Directorate Remote Union Initiative Didactics (DRUID) and individual members known as Codifiers, had to take a series of rigorous practical examinations to demonstrate their specialty. These individuals most common work was to shape and translate the Net into a form convenient and usable by most citizens.

Given both the extreme devastation if not destruction of most Net Terminal worlds and the massacre of most of the members of DRUID (who usually worked on said planets), access to the Net by the average citizen has become incredibly difficult. The Codifiers employed by corporations can only collate a small portion of the Net compared to the order of old, so much so that the vast majority of corporate employees (hence, most of the populace) have only a single, unreliable net terminal in their home. Even worse, the death of most senior Codifiers and the loss of most translatory methods has left humanity's collective knowledge of the Net close to two or three centuries behind.
>>
>>61915350
Those few Codifiers outside of corporate control have either retired into seclusion, practicing aestheticism as hermits, or joined together to form the original core of the group that would eventually become known as the Green Monks.

Seax class Cavalier
[size small, armament light]

Honestly what made Seax unique was not its haphazard design or easy-to-repair chassis. Their unique feature was its delivery method and combat tactics.

Seax was the Saxon Drop Cavalier. They were so small sized Cavalier that over six could fit into a dropship that could carry perhaps two DANE Axes. Upon clearing the atmosphere they would immediately disembark and swarm the enemy targets with close-ranged firepower.

During their crusade towards Avalon Seax overwhelmed too many planets who were surprised by their sudden drop and charge. However their weaknesses were easily countered by one who knew their tactics. After the introduction of anti-horde Pike Cavalier the Seax was quickly outclassed and disappeared from the Saxon battlefields.
>>
>>61915350
I don't think home terminals should be a common thing among average populace, instead only important enough people should have home terminals (Corporations would also ocassionaly reward prominent employees with home terminals in lieu of a promotion)
>>
>>61915520
The net could have multiple tiers:

>Planetary Internet - Basically modern Earth Internet.
>Stellar System OuterNET - some systems were damaged during the Dragon War while others were only disconnected due to destruction of Node Systems.
>Orion Spur HIGHNET - The RoME built NET based on Sidhe tech ruined by the Dragon War.
>Milky Way LEYNET - Theorized full galaxy spanning NET that the ancient Sidhe had.
>>
>>61915503
I think saxon cavaliers should have their heads based on saxon masks (Think sutton hoo helm or pic related)

From the fifth message of the first thread ( http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive/61535005/ )

>>What are the controls? Do you sit at a control panel? Is movement 1:1 with the person inside?
A single person, using a circular rail system surrounding a cockpit to allow the arms movement with pedals on the floor controlling the legs.

-

Usually it is in the torso but probably could be inside head of large+ sized Cavaliers.
>>
So i see cuiraseer suits don't have naming conventions yet, i think should they have armour names (IE:Cuirass, brigandine, hauberk, lorica and the shorwell mentioned in the doc) or horse names (IE: Mare, Foal, Charger, rouncy, courser, pony, palfrey).
Wich do you guys prefer ?

Added
Warhammer tank

A postwar update on the Hammer generalist tank by the house of Gawain. A squad of them can usually do horrible damage to not-anti-tank Cavaliers on open field but the battlefield is not often in their favor. Yet still it is mostly a defensive element in modern warfare, focusing the mobile Cavaliers to move around rather than fight.

A noble warmachine, but many say that the age of Tanks has passed.

>>61917561
Halberd is kinda Spear/Axe hybrid already. Polearms could be a recent innovation to the aging Cavaliers.

>>61917375
Cuirass is the general name for power Armour / suits.
We established that they are named after helmets. Its just that their names have not been that important that there has not been many.

STEED weapon/mobility packs are named after Horse breeds. oh fuck I should add them to this picture as well.....

Luna: Later. Kinda Steeds were predecessed by Arthurs engine use in that battle btw.

>Welsh chronicles mention two names of horses owned by King Arthur. They are in the Tale of Culhwch ac Olwen, which is one of the stories that make up the Mabinogion. They attribute to Arthur a mare called Llamrei (or Llamrai) and another horse called Hengroen.

>Later French sources call his horse Passelande.

>There are several stones throughout the isle of Britain that claim to bear the hoofprint of Arthur's horse. Though unlikely to be true, they do show the breadth of the Arthurian legends.

>Most things Arthur owned seemed to have got a name. The lance was called Ron, his helmet was named Goosewhite and his shield was called Pridwen, which depicted the Virgin Mary.

These could be add ons/mission packs/equipment for (EX) Caliber.
>>

Polearms as inovations makes sense, polearms became increasingly common in the late medieval period due to the need to counter knights in full plate.

I...why do I find this funny?
>>
>>61917741
>EX Caliber was designed with several equippable enhancement packs attached to it's back to improve it's performance, or grant it new capabilities. Each pack had it's own Cavalier powerplant of unknown make far in excess of a typical one to allow far greater performance.

>First of which was the Pridwen Shield pack
>A back pack that combined Sidhe derived energy shielding and a pair of high yield particle/plasma cannon for offensive purposes.
>The shield system was far more interesting than the cannons, no matter for their power and range despite their compact size.
>Pridwen was notable due to allowing EX Caliber to attain a 360 degree sphere of immensily durable shielding, almost on par with a Castle.
>Reports of Cavaliers at the times during it's deployment noticed gravitational fluxes when it was activated when used at full strength
>During the battle of {REDACTED} Pridwen appeared to even negate/block the Dragon {REDACTED}'s time/space bypassing attacks.
>Pridwen could also deploy it's shields offensively as pseudo plasma blades if needed.
>Pridwen was said to be decorated in the images of heavenly graphics and a woman in blue being a recurring character in all of them.

Interestingly King Artur had NONE of these upgrades installed to X-Caliber (i prefer it without the E, more cooler tgat way) at his fateful last battle.
Some of these are at the PenDragon Vaults, some are lost and few have somehow appeared im the inventory of other Corporations. RON for example is known to be owned by Lancelot Dynamics.
Some cheap and unreliable copies are known to exist as well in the black market. The Green Monks and Pagans have been curious regarding them.

>Ron, The Bloodthirsty

>Ron was the second enhancement pack for EX Caliber, whereas Pridwen focused on defense with offense being a secondary, if not tertiary goal, Ron focused on Firepower to the cost of everything else
>Due to the scale and mission profile required of it, Ron is built almost as if a Lance Cavalier strapped onto the back of EX Caliber
>The weapons which dominate one's visage when gazing upon it are it's twin Black Nuke Catapults
>Weapons born out of the terror and panic of the Dragon Conflict, they were meant for the eradication of Dragon Carriers and Nests alike.
>Supplementing the Catapults were a series of missiles, particle/plasma cannons, lesser railguns, lasers of various make, and even more to be determined.
>To move such bulk and mass, Ron was built with next gen plasma core thrusters to just lift it
>This generated thrust almot put Ron on par with the acceleration of Passelande, the Mobility STEED
>Despite Ron's power and effectiveness, Arthur seldom made use of it
>This was partly due to the sheer devastation dealt by it's arsenal to both friend and foe alike, for Ron was indiscriminate despite Arthur's precautions
>Defenses included energy shields similar to Pridwen, various decoy launchers for what good they did.
>Ron was the epitome of the ancient axiom "The best Defense, is a good Offense"
(Think pic related mixed with the Jagd Mirage)

They should be less direct replacements and more fill a similar concept, some ideas bellow (Most of them are anti-cavalier designs):
>Halberd:Inspired on the bearded axe class the halberd has some of the spear class mobility and range, it also features some disabling gadget referencing the spike used to disarm.
>Pollax:Another variant on the bearded axe class it has a emphasis on dakka, but instead of volume of fire it's more about having varied versatile weapons (It fits the irl Pollaxe who has a axe blade, a blunt end and a speartip).
>Bec de corbin: a Self-propeled gun it's a walker-tank hybrid featuring a quadrupedal or ED-209 design (Maybe unique to the same fringe culture that has the spadone ? The venetians used their own hammer design similar to the bec de corbin).
>Zweihander:Created by a fringe culture not a polearm type per-se more of a intermediary stage between sword and polearm types.
>>
>>61919341
Looking back i think the halberd should be based on the wood axe or hatchet (Fitting the halberd being a weapon employed by mercenaries and soldiers in contrast to the pollax who was more knightly).

>Passelande, The Mount

>Arthur's most favorite and commonly used pack, Passelande was meant to further extend EX Caliber's already prodigious agility
>At home in the Sky or in the Void of space, Passelande makes sure EX Caliber was unscathed
>It's most apparent features being the pintle/waldo mounted "Wings" each fitted with various thrusters, RCS, heat dissipaters, ECM, energy shield generators and additional sensors
>The sub arm Wings greatly extended EX Caliber's range of movement and enabled it to vector it's propulsion in unusual ways that only experimental modern Cavaliers have attempted
>While Ron had far greater thrust, due to it's bulk and mass Ron came out the slower of the two, despite Passelande having 1/4th the thrust it attained nearly four times the rate of acceleration.
>It would be During the battle of {REDACTED} in orbit of the Gas Giant {REDACTED} that Passelande made legend while using the Giant's own gravity well to boost it's velocity and perform a sneak attack upon the Dragon {REDACTED}

Some more ideas for polearms:
>Welsh hook:Celt long range light support cavalier, weak guns but lots of tricks to disable enemy cavaliers.
>Glaive:Sword type with improved range and anti-cavalier weapons; voulges, swordstaffs and billhooks would be regional variations (maybe have the billhook be based on a civilian chassis, referencing it's agricultural origin)
>Man-catcher:Not sure if a polearm type, it's more like a spear class modified for riot control.
>>

Bardiche
Ahlspeiss
Boar Spear
Scythe
Voulge
>>
>>61919586
>Man-catcher:Not sure if a polearm type, it's more like a spear class modified for riot control.

How about Man-Catchers being being Cavaliers designed to temporarily disable other Cavaliers without destroying them?

>>61919634
>Boar Spear
Low cost heavily reinforced frontier Spear type designed to take out Boars before they can fortify new lairs. Almost as tough as an Axe.

>Scythe
Agriculture Cavalier designed to be quickly be converted into a Spear/Polearm type (War Scythe) when needed.

>Plowshare
A Sword type converted into a agriculture unit. More powerful than a War Scythe but take longer to convert back to a combat unit.

>•Sovnya - A Russian polearm with a curved blade much like a Naginata.
>•Svardstav - Sword Staff, a swedish polearm that is a two edged sword blade mounted on a six foot long pole
>•Ranseur - A pole weapon similar in look to a trident with a single long spike at the top and two smaller crescent shaped tips at the hilt.
>•Fauchard - A bladed polearm similar to a glaive but having only one sharpened edge - the outer or concave edge. In early centuries it was this way but it developed to also have a hook on the opposite side of the sharpened edge.
>•Lucerne Hammer - A poled weapon with a stabbing point and a hammer head. The hammer head is typically separated into between two and four spikes. This was an effective percussion weapon that could penetrate armor.

Lucerne hammer class is a Gawain prototype of a transforming Tank/Cavalier hybrid. It is amasing sight and probably rather powerful on a surface but it lacks any kind of space operation cabability (even with a STEED it is a sitting duck). Still it has extremely long-range plasma cannon and several light railcannons for close defense. Only time will tell what happens to this class.

hi doc, good to see the good work still going
you are the soul on this operation

now abou civilian life under the corporations it depends on the rim as i already said

on terms of transport,as other people sugested
space travel and ships are only fo the richest,so when people want to travel to another planet they have to rely on public transports of the companies at exchange of money

this are the vital center of logistics for the great corporations the civilian space ports

You can rather easily follow standard charted routes (A-B-C-D).

New routes A-D require _advanced_ maths only Merlin (or Morrigan) is capable of. No sane person tries that.

There is few lengthy and/or old routes which are rarely used. Usually there is a reason, however, why the route was abandoned. Be they dangers or navigational problems.

You could stumble upon an old routes or Sidhe-ways. Many stories and legends of them exist but only few have been qualified.

I am not sure if the pike should be outdated.
Irl pikes were used until 1700, and were employed in large numbers during the late middle ages (Polearms were usually wielded by specialized formations to counter knights, while pikes were the go to anti-cavalry suplanting spear in many cases).
>>
>>61924146
>Did we already have a Sniper Cavalier?
Wich one ? and yeah, the Ahlspeiss is a modification of the pike chassis so it will be pretty similar in speed and armour.
>>
>>61928315
I thin they should have a lot of javelin class too (Maybe even their own class based on the javelin), spanyards liked javelins and even had javelin cavalry.
>>
>>61928803
Ture. Cheap, long ranged mechs? Used in great numbers, they pack a punch and are used in groups, but alone are easy prey?
>>
Looking at the Doc (Sorry for not reading the Hispanic section :( ) maybe Arthur should have piloted Caliburn (a model of one) until it was trashed during a fight. During his recuperation the "Lady of the Lake" appears before Arthur with the knowledge/aid to craft X-Caliber.
Hows this:
>X-Caliber was built off of a Caliburn prototype/frame and loaded with the most bleeding edge PenDragon/Sidhe tech available.
>Overall had significantly higher performance to the Caliburn though at the cost of operational endurance and being a maintinance nightmare. Needed constant oversight by the "Lady of the Lake" that joined Arthur's retinue.

Javelins class are already ingame.

>>
>Carnwennan, The Cloak and Dagger

>Carnwennan was a lesser known add on to X-Caliber used by Arthur a surprising amount of times throughout the Dragon Conflict
>Carnwennan is made up of largely two components: the Mantle armore, and the "Knife" Hyperkinetic weapon
>The Mantle/Cloak was an advanced stealth suite athat could render X-Caliber invisible from effectively all known sensors, even auditory, thermal and gravitics.
>The "Knife" as before was a Hyperkinetic weapon of surprising compactness and lethality that only some modern prototypes have managed to ape.
>The "Knife" was reported to have unusual properties, most notably was the complete lack of collateral to the surrounding area when it was deployed.
>>
>>61929297
>Some theorize that PenDragon's famed Whitehilt Daggers use a scaled back and built in version of the Carnwennan pack.
>>
>>61929297
>Carnwennan other notable property was it's lack of ammo, fixing the typical Hyperkinetic weapon limitation
>Carnwennan seemed to use a "Force" to replicate the effect of hyperkinetic weapons greatly expanding it's use on the battlefield

Good idea.
On a similar note since saxons are a separate people, what kind of english should avalonians be ?
Normans ? Alternate romano-british who survived into the 1400s (I'd go with the later since the setting's norse are mysterious almost legendary invaders.) ?

>>61930837

I like the prisoners idea, prison gangs would fit with their tatoos and tribal culture.
You could make the celts some of the first pre-RoMan colonists on the solar system; who were rounded up to io (The rest was killed or enslaved) reflecting how wide the celtic range used to be.
>>
>>61930995
Well i don't think the avalonians should be blue skinned hybrids; so romano-british with medieval tech level is the way to go imo.

The legend of Zoar and the Tree of Sarace:
In the centuries before RoME the colony worlds were scattered and lost to the stars. One such world was Sarace, an arid planet coreward. The people of Sarace had for many years dwelt there in isolation. For many generations this was the way of things. They were at that time bereft of hope and purpose. This would change in time but, for now it was this way.

In the settlement of Astri a humble man named Zorah would change this and bring hope to the then humble planet.
>>
>>61931456
Zorah normally a drunk and braggart had claimed that he could survive among the wastes without food or water.

This would be a claim that would change the course of history. Dressed simply he set out into the wastes. His settlement did not pay much mind but, placed bets to see if he would either come back with his tail between his legs or be found dead among the dunes.

In the first week, there was worry. In the second a few lamented thst he may very well be dead. By the fourth once more Zorah was forgotten.
>>
Does anyone have the name of (Myth) Arthur's Armor? A lot of his stuff is named but not the armor for whatever.
>>
>>61931553
For three hundred and forty four days Zorah wandered. And, upon the three hundred and forty fifth emerged from his wanderings. However, he was changed. Once pale of skin, Zorah emerged with skin of obsidian and eyes of silver. In his hands he bore a simple seed. Those that looked upon the figure did not see the man that had been a fool. Silent and graven as stone he walked to the heart of the village and, planted the humble seed in the red soil.

>>61931686
Within moments the seed sprouted and from it came a majestic and mighty tree and from its trunk sprouted three hundred and forty four branches, and upon each branch three hundred and forty four leaves. Its bark the color of Saffron and leaves the color of sand. Upon each branch were three fruits. One ivory, one obsidian and the last crimson. Zorah standing beneath the tree spoke for the first time since setting foot within the village.

One thing i want to know, what knights wear inside the cavalier ?
Do they dress in normal clothes or is there a especific pilot gear like in planes ?
Do they have any personal armor ?
What about outside the mech do they just use medieval clothes or do they wear armor outside of battle (Like some medieval ilustrations where knights feast while armored) ?
>>
>>61931885
Something like the EX Gear in Macross Frontier, or some light Power Armor. if not, likely normal suits in Gundam. In the posr Dragon Conflict era I'd say the latter with the former being rare.
f a Knight is shot down and has to trek back, something has gone terribly wrong.
>>
>>61931946
I think the former should have a pretty medieval armor look despite being a advanced suit.
Also what about personal weapons in the setting ?
Are they just medieval weapons with a twist or do handheld firearms also exist ?
>>
>>61931838
"This tree, is a gift from the greatest of Gods" he shouted. "And, upon its boughs the fruits shall never wither till the last of our people vanish. Their colors will not dim and their flesh will not sour. For these fruits are us. Those of Sarace."

Those gathered paid heed and listened.

"Know now that, there are three pillars to our people. Like this tree has three fruit. The First pillar, is the pillar of truth. Know that all actions must be honest and forward, or else they shall fail. The second pillar is that boldness and that we shalt never succeed by modesty. That, actions bold and fierce shall raise us higher. And the final pillar is that of freedom. That should we ever be chained, we shall bleed till they are broken."

These words echoed through the town and burned in the hearts of the Saracen. In time they would become the foundations for Zorism. The pagan religion of the Saracen.

How do you think the celts from alpha centauri should be called ?
I was at first considereding gauls because of "Le irreductible gauls" but i am thinking of calling them averni (the idea being that their main stronghold would be a devastated planet called Avernus).
Also Celt myths would portray them as closer to the Sidhe, having contact or even interbreeding with them.
>>
>>61933757
*Also in their myths celts would portray themselves as closer to the Sidhe, having contact or even interbreeding with them.

>>61933775
There have been talks of the Sidhe being kind a of "infectious", transmiting knowladge and all that, tough its very dangerous. Those Sidhe touched can pass some of they knowladge/"magic", perhaps the Celts are a breed of pagans like the ones talked earlier in the threads.

dont forget that there exist 3 space travel methods

wormhole gates (they instant but can only go to a place that have another wormhole, and they are incredible rare)

warp jump (you accelerate on straight line and enter on some kind of ''extra dimension'' to cut distance more fast, but can only work is there isnt anomalies, and only can go on predeterminate coordinates)

relativistic aceleration (the more slow, yet more easy and controllable one,you use a special FTL drive engine and make your ship accelerate creating a ''bubble'' of space time around you, pretty slow but you can go anywhere
>>
>>61933821
Maybe Celts and pagans use this to their advantage cultivating small colonies of Sidhe infected
>>
Any Castle or Corporate Hold will have a Net Shrine. These can be as simple as a small alcove in which the Lord might sit beside a green monk and voice his missives to be sent via Net to elsewhere to elaborate chambers in which holographic figures pace between chairs and meetings might be held in.

The common man must use the public access points often within Shrines of the Green monks. They must make a payment for access. Typically those that flock to same point also attend sermons on the Green Bible and pay their fee when the plate is passed.

Its rumored though that certain Pagan sects practice Spell singing as well and are learned in the ways of DRUID. these souls have said to constructed their own Net shrines and use them freely.

>>61935641

Most Pagans are actually unaware of their Sidhe-contamination/condition. Sometimes it is even heriditary. There used to be an Green Monk organisation looking for them but it was disbanded during the Dragon War, rumourefly because of manpower shortages.

It has not been recreated afterwards for reasons unknown perhaps Merlin/Arthur made some kind of a truce with the Pagans andd these days Pagan infiltration security is in the hands of Corp Internal Agencies.

> {Pridwen} (For a lack of a better name, the names for Arthur's ship and shield seem to have been mixed up over the centuries)
>The personal Castle built to house Arthur PenDragon and X-Caliber along with their entourage/retainers/HQ
>A combination of Frigate, troop transport, research vessel andother such classifications
>Originally meant to perform as the mobile base of the Caliburn testing group, converted to act as above to move Arthur and his group along with the fleets.
>Holds all of the equipment for X-Caliber in a main hold with the other Cavaliers in to separate ones
>Carries hundreds of personnel (Marines, Researchers, NonComs, Officers, Enlisted Etc.)
>Armed fairly light for it's size and bulk at first glance, but carries next generation weapons which allow it to hit alongside heavier Battleships
>Can operate in space, air, or even underwater if needed.

They're mostly their for backstory. But also if the setting has gear creation tables, these are examples of what a player could 'Possibly" have made with enough Sidhe bullshit injected into them.
The X-Caliber gear is quite literally absolute endagame equipment and only exist as examples as I said before.
They also only can be found on Avalon in the "Modern" period a game would take place in, so good luck.

What if Arthurs was created through Aegypti+Byzantine Cybernetics/Biotech research ? How would this strain his and Guinevere's relationship? I'm pretty sure we haven't expanded on the two together yet either. We can do it next thread.
>>
>>61938017
Who is guinevere in that setting ?
I only saw a few passing references to her in the doc.
Also ByZantines should not have cybernetics just biotech; It would not be fleshy-gross-tyranid biotech tho, most of it would be subtle almost-magical and improve upon existing things (IE: In some settings a biotech-enhanced human would be a freaky mutant, the ByZantines enhanced human is more like a greek statue made flesh.)
>>
>>61938219
That's what I meant by Biotech plus Augments from the Aegypti. Arthur as Uther's "Perfect Heir" born through near arcane technology.
>>
>>61937450
>>61937864
On the pics while arthur's could be a exception (Sidhe meme magic et al); i think most Castles should not have a sleek winged look.
Instead they should look chunkier more like floating fortresses, wh40k imperium ships could be a reference (Not saying the size or aestethic should be the same, it is their general shape wich i think i fitting)
>>
>>61938773
Like this?
>>
>>61938817
Yeah, it would not necessarily have that gothic style tho.
Aesthethics would depend a lot on who made the castle, avalonian ones for example would have a very "english castle look" while saracen ones would look more like flying mosques.

Don't know if the Empire of the East should be developed
>>

Maybe make it just a background thing kept vague and shrouded iny myth but a GM writefag can create his own intepretation if he wishes ?
Unless you want to "shrink the world", chinese and japanese would be very far from the setting's main peoples (At most some of their wares would reach the already fringe saracens and byzantines,) space huns (As i suggested in >>61923540) would probably make more sense as asian faction although i admit it might be difficult to differentiate from other spehss nomads in the setting.

You talking about the empire of the east ?
Because i don't think these things would fit space huns concept.

Probably not. Might just keep the zaibatsu thing, seems like that would definitely fit here.

Had fun bumping the thread with you!
>>
>>61941634
What do you mean by here ?
It seems we have got mixed up a bit, as i conceived them the space huns would not be the same "faction" as the chinese/japanese empire of the east (The later would be kept vague and in the background, while the space huns would feature more in the setting and be encountered by the pcs sometimes.)
>>
>>61941634
Also i don't think zaibatsus would fit the whole "nomadic raiders from the far reaches" concept; zaibatsus belong more in the empire of the east than in the spehss huns.

Could we get some planets/ worlds from these other regions? Aegypt/Saracen/Hispania/ByZant/etc
>>
>>61947647
Agreed have we really gotten any info on planets like Toulon?
>>
>>61948552
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toulon
In 1095, a new cathedral was built in the city by Count Gilbert ofProvence. As barbarians invaded the region and Roman power crumbled, the town was frequently attacked by pirates and theSaracens.

Hmmmm..

Toulon is a mid system remote colony of the Alpha Franks. It housed a secure high tech gene-labs for human enhancement. It was separated from homelands after RoME. Dragons exterminated the site and after the war it was cleared by joint KAY and Tristanite strike force. It now is a fast growing spaceport and it is favourite home for several pirate quivers. Saracens have attacked it recently twice.
>>
>>61949117
Were the gene labs made by the Franks or RoME ?
>>
>>61949607
Probably the Frank's? Though maybe it all stems from some crazy RoME beauty clinics or something where citizens might go for designer kids,
>>
>>61949607
In the days of RoME I imagine such things were used to create various engineered crops and the like or maybe its something dinstinctly Alpha Frank as Avalonian culture doesn't perform the practice.
>>
>>61950828
I think a rediscovered poorly-understood RoMan lab would be better.
I see genetic engineering as kinda lost tech, the only people to still be able to do genetic engineering should be the ByZantines and maybe mordred and aegypti.
Also giving the franks such technology would wreak havoc in their lore imo
>>

True. Also:
Marseilles:
A water world Marseille is known best for its vast orbital shipyards and being the core trade world for much of the ventures Corewards. During the Dragons war Marseille churned out fighters, Castles and system bound Warcraft without end and produced the mighty Bastard Sword by the hundreds. In more peaceful times it is a world notable for its rich shoals of game fish and vast island archipelagos which house many Corporate Manses.

A temperate world it has several orbital stations linking the surface as well as a number of Starways Gates for those seeking to travel deeper into the Galaxy or Hyspania. In recent years Saracens have been raising the edge of the system plaguing merchant vessels and disrupting Company shipments.

>Could we get some planets/ worlds from these other regions? Aegypt/Saracen/Hispania/ByZant/etc
Well, if you're going to make a planet, it might as well be THE planet.

The planet of Zant was among the oldest human colony worlds, dating back to pre-RoMan times. The earth-like nature of the planet had made it a naturally appealing destination for colonists back in the days of only rudimentary mastery of terraforming. Steady growth and swift assimilation by the Republic saw it become one of RoME's leading ecumenopolis, with it's only foible being its vast distance from the Core Worlds.

For it's time in RoME, the city-planet served as a regional capital and home planet of the Sixth Mercenary Legion. It was favored by more than a corporations, who brought the planet great wealth.

During the Dragon War, connection between the Core Worlds and Zant was severed entirely. The Sixth Legion and its Legate CEO Constantus, finding themselves entirely alone, chose to dig in and defend their position at the city. Using a strangely light yet absurdly durable alloy that glistened like gold, the Legion placed multiple continent-spanning armored plates across the planet that were unbreakable even by mighty True Dragons.

Having weathered the Dragon War, the Sixth Legion has separated itself into various Mercenary Themes and sallied forth to challenge the remaining dragons. Constantus has proclaimed himself to be the new CEO-Emperor of RoME, and intends to use Zant's (relatively) unscathed infrastructure and resources to fuel his reconquest.

>C.XXIII was brave. He died when a Dragon tore his Cavalier in half.
>C.XXIIII was afraid. His shuttle exploded
>C.XXIIII was clever. Zant survived because of him. He died in his sleep surrounded by family.

...
>C.XXVII was valorous. He died messily.
>C.XXVIII is young

>>61961212
The Patricians of RoME
At its height there was said to be nearly nothing RoME could not do. Their skill with gene-tech and Terraforming creating a life of such luxury and excess that it may never be reached again. And, leading it all were the Patricians the chosen true blood of RoME. Each great Corp had in their height opted to supplant nature and insert into the blood of their CEOs and share lords a new set of genetic rules, from this came the Patricians. Humanity perfected. Each a god clothed in flesh. In time their ranks increased until in the highest ranks of RoMan society there were naught but they. But, during the fall they fell the farthest. Lynch mobs tearing men and women to pieces. Those that fled interbred once more with baseline humanity or, in the case of Zant held onto their power.

Though the exact sciences needed to create them have been lost. The Alpha Franks have managed a coarse sort of mimicry of the process but, they are far removed from those golden skin beings of that most powerful of Empires.
>>
>>61966477
This must be a troll post.

>vein of front mission.
Good thing this isn't Front Mission and even then the main reason 4e doesn't really work is because Front Mission kind needs location based damage and part swapping.

>Really, any D20 system,is too sw8ngy to put good tactical practices to use,
4e is definitely not swingy (people actually complain about it being padded sumo). I'm not even certain you actually know what the term "swingy" even means.

4e is pretty much joked as being a solid tactical skirmish wargame with a poor quality rpg welded on top.
>>
Honestly we need a system thst can do combined arms. And for that I'm leaning towards Sillouhete or a similar dedicated system. This is a setting where you're seeing battle ships, tanks fighters and mecha all being on the field as well as infantry.

Also what are some personal scale weapons for the setting?

>>
>>61966692
Alpha frank one should be rarer, mostly royal family and the king's paladins.
>>

>>
>>61966692
Can patricians breed with each other ?
>>
>>61967612
Many medieval nobles claimed to be decended from romans, maybe it is the same here with the great houses claiming to have patrician blood (Not saying they would be actually descended from patricians, but they would still believe themselves to be) ?
>>
>>61967619
Likely, as they seem to be implied to have rose as a dominant class over time.

>>61967663
Gold point, maybe it becomes something of a claim among Corp employees to have a 'a little patrician in me'
>>
>>61966692
Though a Patrician couple could bear children it was a demanding affair, still birth and strange mutations abounded in the children of Patricians and, without careful work by RoME's gene sorcerers they often came stillborn. But, those born of human and god though, baseline shared a bit of that powerful blood. Those half breeds called the Aquilae often became knights and lords of renown and its said Uther and Arthur were born of such a bloodline though how true thst might be is debated hotly to this day.

Giza:

A planet only spoken of in hushed tones. Giza is, to the common Aegypti a land beyond mortal reach. For, upon its hidden surface is the home of their gods and kings. Each year great ships clad in gleaming black and gold appear above Aegypti worlds. These are the ships of the gods and they demand sacrifices. A glorious RoME spaceport that housed a chief part of Remus and the main tax datacentre of the entire Republic.
It was raided several times during the Fall and detonated apart an unknown time afterwards.

Now pieces of it are slowly orbiting a nearby volcanic moon and from time to time a piece of data libraries crash and burn.

The Green monks and at least half a dozen corporations have dignificant but not-too-major forces stationed here. Morriganian Cyber-cultists have been spotted in-system as well. Also large numbers of mercenaries are present. All are scourging both space and the moon for lost data-treasures.
