Iconocorp reminds citizens of Megacity S-3 that as the colder months approach raider and bandit attacks are almost always more likely. >>61049391>What is MothballsMothballs is a gonzo, kitchen-sink sci-fi setting with elements of cyberpunk, post-apocalypse, kaiju stories, lovecraftian horror and old world fantasy. After a series of unknown disasters and poorly planned attempts at fixing them, the world was completely changed. Most of the landscape of Earth is a deadly environment, inhabited by countless deadly monster and mysterious occult phenomena. The majority of the population lives in massive sprawling megacities, trying to survive the siege from the horrors of the natural world outside. Meanwhile, the depths of those urban jungles crawl with dark mysteries: gangs of criminals lurk in the shadows, communities of poor citizens try to survive in those future tech shanty towns, and secretive cults worship strange gods far from the common eyes.>Where did this all come from?Moth Balls is a work of collective worldbuilding started after a roleplaying thread about giant moths and tax holidays led to the creation of a dark and bizarre world without guidance or direction. In the following threads more ideas were developed, but unguided roleplaying led to an aimless setting filled with stillborn ideas. So, in order to facilitate proper worldbuilding, a discussion thread was created.>Where else can I talk about this?We are trying to keep the worldbuilding to the threads, so that more people can see it, but there is a Discord server, dedicated primarily to organizing and keeping track of the lore https://discord.gg/KhZ3Qh>How can I helpJust look over what was already done (at least the first thread, but the others are good too) and propose your ideas!

>>61049602Exactly. This is obviously a cover for something.
Here's a map of the megacity of San Diego. It's absorbed several of the cities and communities around it, and many of those immediately further out were abandoned by their populations, who traveled to the megacity. It also holds the majority of the former population of the Los Angeles basin.

Howdy folks, Doctor Marduk here! Now that I've finally gained some backing and much needed funding from my brothers at the Chruch of the Yellow Serpent to continue my work I finally feel safe enough from the looming threat of Iconocorp goons fucking with my projects to introduce myself by name rather than continuing to address myself as Rotjaw Breeder. Just figured I'd pop by to keep y'all up to date on the goings on at my camp. For a change of pace we have something that I didn't cook up in a lab for a change! I found this bugger while on an expedition through the gulf coast of Texas and for the life of me can't figure out what the hell to call it if it doesn't have a name already (most fauna records are stuck in the flooded district and I refuse to go down there while the terrorpins and gustaves go at it) Whatever it is it's not friendly, and the rotjaws have been giving it's paddock a very wide berth. Judging from the lack of a hemipenal bulge and the distention in the abdominal region I have reason to assume that whatever it is it's female and possibly gravid. What do you think I should do lads? Part of me wants to keep it around and run some tests to see if it has any useful applications for human use but the other part really wants to vivisect it to see what I'm looking at.

>>61049391Howdy to all you little Rangers out there. Ranger Ballard Young here. Just got a distress signal from somewhere in the Great Forest with Ranger Hal's tracking number. Pray to God we can bring him home. His family is hoping for the best. But around here, I've seen enough cases of the opposite to know better.Ahem. Anyways, let's get to today's wasteland beast, the Hulk Termite. Hulk Termites are often called the "Nobility of the Desert" because they pretty much run things in the sand as far as territory goes. Like their much smaller ancestors, Hulk Termites live in tremendous mounds that are pretty damn impressive to the eye- only these mounds look more like skyscrapers than piles of dirt. Hulk Termite mounds can cover thousands of feet of ground and get several hundred feet tall, depending on environmental conditions and colony population density. Like us, Hulk Termites are immensely protective of their citadels and are highly apprehensive about trespassers wandering into their territory or their colonies. (1/3)
>>61056387These fellas can be pretty intimidating to look at, although their appearance and abilities vary highly from individual to individual. The smallest get no bigger than 3 feet long, with the largest colony members like the centurions can get as big as 12 feet long. See, Hulk Termites are a highly specialized species with intense variation, all based on what purpose the individual termite is to serve. Some might be scouts that forage for food- smaller, quicker, and with impeccable senses all around- while others might serve as centurions, guardians who operate only inside the cramped tunnels of the citadel- much larger, more muscular, and completely blind thanks to the oppressive darkness of the winding passageways of its home. The most specialized is the extremely bizarre winged Termite "king", whose sole purpose is to produce offspring. Rather than have one dedicated queen, Hulk Termite colonies seem to have a, uhhh... "harem" or what you call it of mates for the "king" to choose from. These multiple queens ensure that the colony is constantly reproducing offspring and filling any occupational holes as it needs.Hulk Termites also seem to be quite intelligent, social, and complex animals- odd considering their evolutionary history. Hulks have a very intricate communication system involving touch with their feelers, and clicking sounds produced by their jaws and smaller forelimbs making contact with their hard carapaces. The Hulk language is bizarrely intricate, and Ranger RnD has actually managed to decode some of what their saying, and has deemed them to be slightly more intelligent than the pre-Cataclysm dolphin- which in case you aren't aware was pretty damn smart. In fact, it seems like these fellas may have found a way to get Giant Landworms to avoid their territory completely- even we haven't figured out how they pulled that one off.(2/3)
>>61056405Generally speaking, Hulks use their numbers to deal with threats and prey- though it's worth noting that they are omnivorous. Three or four scouts (which is usually what most sane people will be encountering) can overwhelm a fully capable Warden or Ranger if you aren't careful. The entire species has a powerful toxin produced by their pincers that can leave a very painful sting if they pierce the skin, which has a nasty bonus of causing severe hallucinations after just a few seconds. Fortunately, it isn't fatal. In fact, raiders and pirates will often attempt to raid Hulk colonies for some of the stuff to sell for a quick and easy dollar. It rarely goes well. The best way to deal with 'em is actually not through fighting, but through simple courtesy. Avoid Hulk Termite territory if you can, but if you must pass through it, bring some unique or particularly tantalizing food. If a Hulk Termite scouting party should find you, offer them the food as a kind of peace offering by placing it on the ground in front of the pack leader, denoted by the red markings on its exoskeleton. If the gift is deemed acceptable enough, you should be able to pass through the rest of the territory unabated by Termite interference. In the rare case where it isn't, you should probably run. Their jaws can cut through bone like a hot knife through IconoButter (TM). That's all for today, folks. Stay safe out there, and uh... remember! Vita Hominis Super Terram! (Did I say that right? Oh, shit. We're still rolling? Then get that damn camera off me!)(3/3)
>>61056673>mufags will actually defend this
>>61049904>yellow serpent followers have gone too fucking farThat reminds me of what I forgot to ask in the previous thread. With researchers and rangers acting as cataloguers of wild beasts is the Church of the Yellow Serpent the go to entity for the creation of all of the artificial monsters or are there other organizations that operate alongside the Chruch? The theme I've been getting from the past threads is that they're a bunch of geneticists and other assorted sciency folk with a penchant for vengeance.
>>61056264I've been living in a hospital for a few years now. The staff are alright people and I haven't had another bed in here for about a year and since then I've been building up my rig mostly for shit and giggles but also because you know, I don't really get to leave the room
>>61056834>is the Church of the Yellow Serpent the go to entity for the creation of all of the artificial monstersI don't think the Yellow Serpent has any specific association with bioengineering. There's just a guy posting in the threads as a yellow serpent follower who is also a bioengineer.
>>61056427>the gift is deemed acceptable enough, you should be able to pass through the rest of the territory unabated by Termite interference. In the rare case where it isn't, you should probably run. Their jaws can cut through bone like a hot knife through IconoButter (TM).This is also why you shouldn't hold the gift up to their jaws, lost the tips of some fingers that way. Damned if they didn't give them back, though.

Could that be because you 'Humanity Fuck Yeah' types always think you can take on the whole world, right up until you actually meet it? At any rate, if you really wanted to help humanity reclaim the world, you'd be a Warden. And if you were a Warden, you wouldn't be so stupid as to alienate those who only wish to help. Not sure why, maybe the marketing department's just dumb, but they really don't like admitting that we aren't the smartest things around any more.So most of the marketing focuses on human threats and so forth, because they really want people to believe that it's only other people they need to worry about. >>61069625>fights we can't win yet>yetYou seem to be laboring under the delusion that there will come a time where people CAN fight the powers. Further more you seem dead set on fighting entities that aren't even trying to cause us harm so long as we don't meddle with their affairs. Hell, after being kicked out of the High Court and being given time to mellow out the Serpent flat out ignores people so long as they heed its warnings about fucking with it. Why mess with the Powers if they're choosing to ignore or protect us so long as they get their due worship from their followers?
>>61062813Is this really their design? What keeps them from just spinning about with the water drag?
>>61069370>HostLords don't work for the Forces, you dumb fuck. Church representative here. I'm fairly certain that when the Dawn Hammer says, and I quote, "THE LORDS OF HOSTS BEGIN THEIR CALL TO THE BLACK FATHER OF THE BEYOND. CEASE THIS" and when the other priesthood state similar from their Powers, it becomes pretty damn clear that the HostLords and Forces are, at the absolute least, in cahoots.
>>61069961This the same Dawn Hammer who claims the Corpse City is in cahoots with the Dreaming Flesh which it was constructed to quarantine?Because it's nice to hear the Church's issue with correlation and causation is at least, consistent.
>>61070044>This the same Dawn Hammer who claims the Corpse City is in cahoots with the Dreaming Flesh which it was constructed to quarantine?Mu was always a place of debauchery and horror, where unethical experimentation was the norm and people were literal chattel to be used and discarded when the time came, going by old records of the site. It was their dealings with "other realities" that led to the Flesh incarnating in the first place and subsuming their civilization. The Dawn Hammer is perfectly justified in its loathing of both City and people.
>>61065440What >>61065707 said, and a lot of old interwar 240mm and 485mm guided torpedoes. Some of them are wire guided others are active sonar. New ones use a VLS and take a few hundred LIDAR shots to track wahoons before they hit the water then use differentiation to track them after they hit the water. It works on a lot of big critters that are spooked or don't show up on sonar like ghostsquids and elephant sharks. I think they get then from some Siamese or Filipino company. Supposedly they're getting some sub Hunter helos that can mount something similar.

>>61071532Being fair, the Flesh and city have become interchangeable.
>>61071617Yeah, it takes over the stone, almost as fast as we replace it. It's kind of like shoveling snow off of a driveway when it's really snowing. You spend the better part of an hour scraping it off and you get to the end and see it's already accumulating where you just scraped. Some days, I envy the zombies, they aren't just immune to the infection, they're immune to the feeling of monotony.
>>61071532>It's a Continent size CityCalling Mu a city is a fucking euphemism. There's literally nothing there other than the flesh. There are no buildings. There are no automatons.>Speaking as someone who lives on the fleet of ships that surrounded the continentHow fucking stupid do you think I am? Hostile wildlife made that kind of thing impossible well before Mu showed up.
>>61071762>How fucking stupid do you think I am?Stupid enough to believe the Powers and Forces were the result of mortal action for one.
>>61071532>>61071762Out of character, here, Mu's been a continent since it was first introduced, which was either the first or second thread.
>>61069961Religious Professor at S-3U reporting. Always a good laugh to see a clergy member who knows jack shit about their own religious canon. Let's see here.>when the Dawn Hammer says, and I quote, "THE LORDS OF HOSTS BEGIN THEIR CALL TO THE BLACK FATHER OF THE BEYOND. CEASE THIS"Typical church argument about why the HostLords are le big evil Forces boogeyman and we should all convert to your EPIC religion. Except the problem, of course, is that the HostLords didn't appear until 10-15 years after this "huge revelation" from the Dawn Hammer, and everyone just started calling them "HostLords" because your dumbass church started peddling end-is-nigh bullshit in every goddamn megacity where you had even the SLIGHTEST FOOTHOLD so you could push all the Forces cults out. Ranger, AgEx, AND Iconocorp scholars are all in consensus that if HostLords are even real (which I could very well argue that they aren't), they have no fucking affiliation with the Forces. Remember when megacity R-3 fell a couple years back to HostLords (supposedly)? That's weird... I though they had one of the largest Forces cult populations in the world? Hmm... that can't be right! Why would a priest of the Forces destroy one of their only chances to take control of a megacity?Get. Fucked.
>>61071813>and ForcesNever said that. The ritual is the reason the Powers are as coherent as they are, as opposed to the Forces.
>>61071425Yes, and the Powers turned the old gods into Kaiju and the fae are just AI. I'd suggest following conspiracy theories that aren't completely insane. Oh, and try to substantiate them with actual proof, rather than just speaking loudly and feeling pleased with yourself. That won't convince anyone who isn't a moron
>>61071762>How fucking stupid do you think I am?Stupid enough to not recall that the Necromancers have a working relationship with the Wardens and Rangers, who are all about dealing with hostile wildlife. Stupid enough to think that the City isn't keeping the Dreaming Flesh from creeping its way all of the damn world. And stupid enough to tell a necromancer about where there are and aren't zombies.
>>61071877Actual religious professor here. THIS idiot is so completely wrong that I'm appalled he even knows how to use the Net halfway decently. The first recorded manifestation of a HostLord was shortly after the fall of Wall Marius, a prototype variation on the current version of our megacities, which was about 5000 years ago or so. And even then, there are hints that they've been active for far longer than that. They have then continually cropped up across the annals of history, devouring both megacity, mad cultist and the spiritual essence of the land itself alike. For HostLords serve only the Forces from which they were born and no other. Which you would know if you were actually a "religious professor" and not just a blind babe who likely failed to pass his Thaumaturgic MetaChange classes or Metaphysical Histories.
>>61071877>Religious Professor> doesn't know that The Dawn Hammer refers to all dire threats against humanity as 'The Black Father of The Beyond'>needs a three paragraph argument to make the same pointTypical of S3U I suppose.
>>61072008>Stupid enough to think that the City isn't keeping the Dreaming Flesh from creeping its way all of the damn world. Are you an actual retard? It's already spread overseas.>>61072170>which was about 5000 years ago or so.Oh fuck, I knew one of you idiots would show up sooner or later.
>>61072175S3U's religious "studies" institutions are the sole reason as to why this inane babble about the Church "not knowing history" has cropped up. Or why there are so many inbred fools who lciam that the Powers were 'forged' by the Church, when we have actual evidence of the contrary. Take whatever they say with a microfilament of salt.
>>61071989>Oh, and try to substantiate them with actual proof>The Testimony of Bishop Alexander isn't proof because I disagree with it
>>61072262>Are you an actual retard? It's already spread overseas.Yeah, breaches are a bitch, but it'd be worse if it weren't for the City and the people who keep it from crumbling into the Sea.
>>61072305>S3U's religious "studies" institutions are the sole reason as to why this inane babble about the Church "not knowing history" has cropped up.The old religions still exist you motherfucker. We still remember.
>>61072325>Bishop Alexander totally isn't a thrall of the Dreaming Flesh you guys>TOTALLY>It's those Necromancers
>>61072335>The old religions still exist you motherfucker. And yet Titania herself has said that "those gods are long gone. Devoured by the night". At best, what you worship are just manifest egregores. Manifestations of raw belief and hope given form, with some being stronger than others due to absorbing whatever was left of the deities they now claim the titles of.
>>61072327What fucking people? How could they have even gotten over there? Virtually nobody has the ability to actually travel over large bodies of water anymore, for fuck's sake. This is just Church revisionism, trying to make themselves look like they're doing more than they are. The people protecting us from Mu are the people who actually fight the flesh, like the Guys at Pendleton and the counties near the San Francisco Bay. Hell, I'm not even saying that the Church does nothing, but this is propaganda, pure and simple.
>>61071239Mu wasn't built. It either emerged from the ocean or came from the sky!>>61071356Technically there are cities in Mu, but they are part of and of the Flesh
>>61071464The world wasn't always like this but the Cataclysm never happened. It was a gradual process
>>61072409>I'm not even saying that the Church does nothingThat is exactly what youre saying, given how your statement is essentially ignoring and invalidating all the countless heroes and scholars who opposed Mu and died horrendously to even remotely allow you to live a semi-stable life.
>>61072351>>Bishop Alexander totally isn't a thrall of the Dreaming Flesh you guysFuck you.>It's those NecromancersNever said they're with the flesh. They're a completely separate problem.>>61072384>>61072384>And yet Titania herself has said that "those gods are long gone. Devoured by the night".First I've heard of it, jackass, and last I checked, none of the Fae claim any kind of divine powers, so I don't really see how they would know in the first place.
>>61072410>echnically there are cities in MuThat's a euphemism. There are giant flesh structures, sure, but those spring up anywhere where the Flesh takes over a large amount of territory.
>>61072409>What fucking people? The fucking Necromancers what live around it. Us. We raise the dead, and send them onto the continent to keep the city built over it from breaking down and completely unleashing the Infection across the world. >Virtually nobody has the ability to actually travel over large bodies of water anymore, for fuck's sake. Most of us have stopped trying, yes. We accept this shoreline as our open air prison.>>61072518Yeah and the way to deal with those Flesh Structures? With the Flesh itself? Surround it with non-living material, which it can't (quite) infect, using zombies as the laborers. We usually use stone or Volcanic ash cement.
>>61072499>and last I checked, none of the Fae claim any kind of divine powers, so I don't really see how they would know in the first place. The Fae were literally the Lords and Ladies of the forest and earth long ago, my historically inaccurate friend. They were probably closer to the divine than any other creature and their royals were roughly on that level. With some like the old ones of Danu and Dagda being true gods.If anyone would know what happened to the old gods, it would be them.
>>61072518They look like cities though. And there are some cultists living there
>>61072451Nobody likes pedants. Everyone knows that the term doesn't refer to a single event.>>61072466I'm sure the people living in the Bay Area will be happy to hear about all those "heroes and scholars."I live on the west coast. The Church has practically zero fucking presence here. They have no way of getting to Mu, and they have no staging ground to begin a journey like that anyway. The Church does fight the less corporeal Forces, but not Mu.
>>61072586Sometimes they're Dreaming Flesh Cultists. Sometimes they're scions of Mu, Necromancers trying to keep the infection from spreading further. And sometimes, they're just poor saps who were in the wrong place, at the wrong time and are infected. The line can get blurry as hell at times.
>>61072580I live out here. You can't lie to me about what's going on. The flesh is perfectly capable of growing on non-living material, and the last active cabal of necromancers out here was hunted down 30 years ago.>>61072586Cultists live in flesh cities off of Mu. Nobody lives in Mu. Nobody COULD live in Mu. It's a fucking hellscape.>>61072583Being supernatural and being divine are not the same thing.
>>61072580The Flesh can grow over and break concete. The only way to keep it under control is with superior firepower. The siege forces use necromancer for cheap bodies where it's too dangerous for people.
>>61072601>They have no way of getting to Mu, and they have no staging ground to begin a journey like that anyway. What are the Journeyman ships/Battle-Posts/Defensive Stations. The fact that you don't know about any of these really makes me doubt a lot of what youre saying here.
>>61072730>What are the Journeyman ships/Battle-Posts/Defensive Stations.Stuff from the Gaelic Union, which has fuckall to do with the Church.
>>61072672>The Flesh can grow over and break concete.Eventually, yes. So it's gotta be rebuilt. Basically what happens is, the Dreaming flesh busts out of the city, warning gets sent out to the relevant siege forces who then proceed to napalm the unliving shit out of the Flesh, while it's "cooling", Zombies are sent in to cover it back up with various non-living materials. The necessity of the zombies is two-fold. They cannot be infected and the City itself will not harm them as they work. Any living thing that enters Mu, dies before it can be infected. >>61072670>We killed all the necromancers and now the dreaming Flesh is growing out of control >HOW DID THIS HAPPEN?
>>61072799>Implying the Necromancers were ever IN San FranciscoIt happened because Megacities are retarded
>>61072785>The Gaelic Union>"nothing to do with the Church"
>>61072799You do realize it makes no fucking sense that an animated corpse is somehow just immune to the Flesh, right? It's completely biological.
>>61072858>Implying the Church has any presence off-continent.
>>61072799Flesh Cities spread via seed organism dude. The physical Flesh that makes Mu and the Cities is not literally the Dreaming Flesh. The Dreaming Flesh is a Force. It's a metaphysical entity, not a literal thing in the world. If it was actually making incursions we would be at a new level of screwed
>>61072874Necromancers remove all the Flesh from the things they raise and imprison their souls in their bodies to do their bidding. Which is also why they were exterminated in the first place.>>61072891It does. Just like Iconocorp and the megacorps do.
>>61072874The vector through which the Dreaming Flesh infects people with it's mutations is our own sapience, our own awareness. Zoms, being completely unaware and mindless, are impossible for it to infect. This is also why Mu kills anything that enters its borders.
>>61072891It does, but it's very limited. And it definitely does not control the Gaelic Union
>>61072947>Necromancers remove all the Flesh from the things they raise and imprison their souls in their bodies to do their bidding. Those are ghouls, undead which still are sapient, they're an interesting if horrible outlier.>Which is also why they were exterminated in the first place.Only in your Flesh infected shit hole~
>>61072995>And it definitely does not control the Gaelic UnionOf course we don't. But we're on pretty agreeable terms with them and we share our shit from time to time.Of course, the last time one of their own met our grand-priest, things didn't end to well...
>>61073038>Only in your Flesh infected shit hole~As opposed to what? All of the places that aren't on the fucking coastline, that the flesh can't reach right now? Yes, I'm very sure that it's the Necromancers keeping those places safe, and not the goddamn geography. Fuck's sake, Canada has necromancers, and they've got flesh cities as well.
>Walked out of the Chemfactory, another shutdown thanks to the heatwave causing all of our machines to over heat again>Kinda sucks because they won't pay me for the full shift but whatever, it's been over three weeks since I had a day off since the demand for stims increased so much due to Cloud Moth breeding season in full swing>Turn down the small street where my assigned housing is>Suddenly see a strange smoking pitch black figure>It's a fucking Bedlam geist>Thank God I read a lot of Fire department forums >Instantly cover my eyes and stand very still. Fucking chips auto-blurs their faces but FUCK getting chipped. Any fireman here know if thick sunglasses work? I heard they don't really detect movement but I'd rather not risk accidentally touching one.
>>61073095So you're making the implication that because the Gaelic Union occasionally trades with Church officials, that means their ships are somehow yours? Fuck off.
>>61073131The Journeyman s a result of combined efforts between both the Church and the Union to make weaponry capable of fighting against the larger creatures of the world. In fact, this was even announced by both groups for all to hear.
>>61073110We can't be everywhere, especially in places that try to lynch us. In the places where people let us do our work, the Flesh Cities are contained. It's a simple fact.
>>61073095>pretty good termsHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHASeriously, we all know how the union feels about the Powers. We all know how the last missionaries you sent there got back home: in tiny pieces.
>>61073176That still doesn't mean you fucking own them. The Gaelic Union's ships are only usable because of their bone charms to ward off most of the sea life, and they don't share those, or how to properly make them, with anyone.>>61073239Yes, and I've got a rock that keeps Tide Queens away. It's definitely the rock, and not the fact that Tide Queens live in fucking Southeast Asia. That's what you sound like.
>>61073239In the places where the Defense Forces and the Wardens do their jobs too. Turns out fire and lead are really good against Flesh Cities>>61072987My doesn't kill its cultists. It sees them as part of itself since they are connected to its mind
>>61073288>We all know how the last missionaries you sent there got back home: in tiny pieces. And we all remember what the consequences were don't we? Or has the giant fucking block of celestial stone you had dropped on one of your cities dulled your thick skulls that much? Or how about when the oceans themselves devoured your ships at the behest of the Endless Calm for months on end?
Crack goes the twigs as I shift, and I try not to wince. In an hour I will hold a picture of Lola and Sierra and cry, because my ankle hurts and because I don’t know where I am, and it's dark in a minefield. I don't think tears can trip a mine. I hope. It's dark, beyond the night and trees. A red pitcher lays behind the minefield, and I hope it's only a pint. I'm no bartender. I wonder how cold I will get now. My daughter should learn de-mining. I think they teach that at school, but I'm not home often enough to help with her homework. I wish I was. At least it's not a minefi
>>61073401Stop drinking the kool-aid.
>>61073352When you say "cultists" are you referring to the Necromancers? Because it kills us. It also kills the lunatics who worship the Flesh cults, with extreme prejudice. If you live, and you're in Mu, you won't be living very long. The only thing it doesn't kill? Zombies. Because Dreaming Flesh cannot infect zoms for reasons that have been explained, exhaustively.>>61073416Al?
>>61072170>Le the world is only 6'666 years old maymaysdag blamit when do they turn you off season 'college' kids into meat pudding already.
>>61073401>r has the giant fucking block of celestial stone you had dropped on one of your cities dulled your thick skulls that much? No, because that didn't happen. The Powers aren't nearly as despotic as you want them to be my dullard friend. I'd suggest you stop talking and save your gods a great deal of embarrassment.
>>61073469>Because Dreaming Flesh cannot infect zoms for reasons that have been explained, exhaustively. The explanation being that they're not alive, which, as people have pointed out, doesn't actually stop the growth of flesh.
>>61073465The Powers themselves did all of that. Not us, not anyone else. Even Iconocorp shut their traps and stopped trying to force their shit on the Churhc for a year because of what the Union suffered.>>61073518>The Powers aren't nearly as despotic as you want them to be my dullard friend.Yes, because we all know that the Dawn Hammer would let its servants die. How about those birds Union friend? Still getting your eyes pecked out because you murdered a priestess of the Loving Sky in cold blood?
>>61073469it works on stone, trees, even old metal for craps sake, albeit slower on the old warehouses and shit were it spreads. The only thing I've even heard of being immune to it is some enchanted mud forts in Ethiopia and Morocco, and priests have to maintain that stuff every day.
>>61073529It prevents mutations though. Flesh can grow over zombies, but it's really slow
>>61073529>The explanation being that they're not aliveNot alive and mindless. For instance, a Ghoul or ghost would be susceptible to the mutations and madness that comes of Flesh infection.>>61073605It doesn't quite infect them, it erodes them until they cannot contain it and slips through the cracks.
>>61073482Religious professor here. I'm the head scientist, researcher and magic practitioner in all of my assorted megacities of B54 to A10, and I'm Chief of Metaphysical Investigation&Containment in a hundred others. I probably outrank you in whatever field I can care to name.

>>61073641The cataclysm was, at most, 100 or so years ago. Actually fuck off.
>>61073551No. Seriously, just shut up because all you end up doing is making your gods out to be sadistic monsters. Anyway, Oberon's got a little too much riding on our little nation to let too much bullshit happen to us.
>>61073739Supernatural bullshit, I should point out. He trusts us to handle the more mundane occurrences.
>>61073704>The cataclysm was, at most, 100 or so years ago. Incorrect. The Cataclysm wasn't some "and now everything is gone!!" style event, my kind simpleton. Actual estimations point to it taking place over only the Powers know how many years, up until it reached a certain 'zenith point'. At which it completely came together and reality and meta-reality became irreversibly interwoven. 100 years prior is just the point at which the walls came crashing down.

>>61073778Like I said earlier, nobody likes a pedant. It's well understood that the term doesn't refer to a single event. Regardless, that's around the same time megacities showed up, so your post earlier about HiveLords is bullshit, without even addressing the idea of using the exact same type of wall for around 5000 years,
>>61073688Man, you are trying to tell a person who's lived within spitting distance of Mu, how Flesh infections work? Because, that is a level of arrogance that is downright comedic.
>>61073812>actually venerates the guy who even Titania cut off because he went completely mothfuck insane>Implying this doesn't happen every 5 years or so
>>61073853Once again, nobody lives that close to Mu.
>>61073849>Regardless, that's around the same time megacities showed up, so your post earlier about HiveLords is bullshit, without even addressing the idea of using the exact same type of wall for around 5000 years,One, it's "HostLords". And two, megacities didn't show up over a mere 100 years. At least one, S12R, has been around for far longer than that (so long that its Mazes have grown to be the most notably lethal amongst all the megacities). And we have verifiable proof of the existence of Wall Marius and everything relating to it. Given that we found the area of its destruction and a few barely functioning devices that predate most of our current technology strewn through the wreckage. You have proven that you do not know what you are talking about to an utterly staggering degree, and you'd instead buy into Iconocorp-style bullshit. Truly, it must be an impressive skill to have a skull made out of raw adamantium.
>>61073995>megacities didn't show up over a mere 100 years. At least one, S12R, has been around for far longer than thatAbsolute bullshit. Megacities were a response to various dangerous caused by the Cataclysm. You can fuck off with your corporate fabricated proof. This is just megacorps trying to legitimize themselves.
HostLords are the most absurd thing I've heard of. They are not even close to being comparable to the Forces in power. There are only a dozen Megacities in North America. If a HostLord could kill an entire City by approach in it we would all be dead for decades
>>61073919If you say so boss. Meantime, the Zoms are in need of some mending and I haven't made dinner yet. If I'm not back, it's because I'm dead and insane.Bonne Chance from somewhere I clearly cannot be.
>>61074072>This is just megacorps trying to legitimize themselves.Iconocorp are the people who peddle the "Cataclysm was only a century ago" bullshit. Are you truly retarded?
>>61074074Pretty sure there's a bit more than a dozen, but the number's definitely small enough that your point stands.
>>61074074>If a HostLord could kill an entire City by approach in it we would all be dead for decadesGood thing they scarcely manifest then.
>>61074145Just to keep things under control, but OOC, while a precise timeline was never determined, it is pretty much consensus that the setting takes place a few centuries in the future, from now, and the events that caused the world to change happened somewhere between that future and the current day
>>61074145Once again, actually fuck off. Virtually everyone knows that the Cataclysm was around that long ago. Megacorps have been going around trying to convince people that they predate the Cataclysm
>>61074223It most certainly was never agreed that it takes place multiple centuries in the future. It should definitely be left vague, though.
>>61074223No timeline was ever agreed upon. This worlds history is vague and murky at the best>>61074241The Megacorps are convinced that they made the Powers and Forces and are trying to convince everyone else of that. Everyone who even has a single brain cell knows they're full of Carnotaurus dung.
>>61074264The cataclysm was definitely not 5000 years in the past. Even 500 is pushing it
>>61074307The timeframe for the Cataclysm, or even what it actually was, is unknown. Like a lot of things, it has been left up to the imagination. And my posts only said "the first recorded HostLord manifestation" was supposedly around that time period. Not the Catalcysm itself
>>61074350Yes but it's pretty well agreed that people still remember a good amount of how the world was before it changed. Plus, 5000 years would mean a lot more societal and technological change than the majority of people are working with
>>61074350It also says that there were megacities back then. Megacities being a response to the cataclysm is about as established as something could be with an intentionally vague background, and megacities existing 5000 years ago puts some massive limitations on the timeline
>>61074416>and megacities existing 5000 years ago puts some massive limitations on the timelineDon't think any of those posts mentioned megacities existing back then. Just a long-destroyed "Wall Marius".
>>61074496Which was stated to be the prototype for current megacity walls. Even if that doesn't mean there were megacities at that time, it's still a massive limit on what the timeline can be.
>>61074397there have been empires that have existed longer than what that idea posits, and they barely have any change in how their society or tech functions. Even if 5000 years were to pass, not much would change in how people behave, and depending on how it works, nor would the tech be all that different
>>61073641I bet you have over 300 confirmed discoveries too.

I'm not dead as I breath again, with something touching my leg. I meet it's one eye stalk gaze even as I sit on the ground, and I watch it's digitigrade legs scratch something on the ground instead of using the toothy maw across it's chest, which I wonder if it's hungry or not. I know not what it is. It seems to know me, or at least my anatomy, as it has wrapped my ankle. I don't remember my revolver in my hand, but it's there.Looking at the fae I think back to what I know of sentients, namely how I make them uncomfortable when I talk. Except for my wife. She finds it cute. It may not think so. Many militia shoot fae on sight. Rangers hesitate. So I hesitate, and I stare. And it stares at me. And for a long time we watch, it watches my gun. Click goes the hammer as I drop it on my thumb. In the old days there was a saying, a Ranger once told me. Animals are more scared of you than you are of them. I don’t believe that’s been true a day of my life. In my bag is a granola brick. Nutritious, rich chocolate protein powder, steel-cut oats, some raisins. My wife makes it for me when I go out on business trips. This one has frosting, because we decided my birthday will be July 19th and it will be July 19th when I’m gone. I pull it out and crack it in half. I stare at the 3 and the 5. I wonder which to give the thing. 5 is my favorite number, because I have 5 fingers, my .45-70 has 5 shots, and it’s easy to count with. 3 is my lucky number, because I’m the third Al and I’ve lived the longest. I decide I need luck more and hand it 5. He likes chocolate, I think, just as I think it’s a boy. I haven’t the faintest idea.

>>61075255There's a spot down to the south that has an abundance of it last I checked. But I've heard that it has become infested with Cloud Moths as of late and may or may not have turned into a spawning pit.
>>61075361fuck.Guess I'll just have to wait for the trade to go through then.
>>61074647>Actually going outside is a stupid stupid endeavor.Rude. Some of the best and most rewarding experience comes from actually going out and getting your hands dirty you know. Eksewise what can you really say you've got going for you besides a bunch of fancy titles and a flimsy data slate that says PhD on it? Also, can you tell the lab boys in A-7 to stop ignoring my requests for the reptilian faunal records so I can figure out whether or not I've actually caught a new species? I get that they're afraid I'll cook up something again but this time I just need a decent excuse to make sure that the Church actually sees a reason to keep funding me that isn't just "I'm one of you guys".
>>61076197Marduk, A-7 denies you stuff because you're batshit insane and you actively try to make already terrible situations worse. I may have some pull there, but if the Head Director says "No", then he fucking means it.Besides, I'm too busy right now. I'm in the midst of a new Aetheric breakthrough that could finally confirm the multiple cosmic ecologies theorem I've been working on.
New map soon, get ready
>>61075095I'm gonna have to pass on the "join the nutjobs" offer thanks for the offer, now get away and get chipped
The city has fallen.
>>61076950Forgot the name, but I guess it's kind of obvious that it's me.
>>61076950Oh egads the my mega city got a MU infestation(At least I'm assuming what the pink is)
>>61076950Imagine living in that hellholeHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA
>>61076950The flesh also probably extends further north and south, but for now I was mostly focused on the counties surrounding the bay>>61076990Yep.>>61076991Nobody lives IN San Francisco anymore. Or any of the counties that border the San Francisco Bay, really. Except maybe Mu cultists.
>>61077062>Except maybe Mu cultists.exactly, just fucking IMAGINE
>>61076950Is anyone there even still alive?
>>61077186Fuck no. Flesh got into the bay, and the megacity was overwhelmed. It's spread out since, and threatens Sacramento via the Sacramento River.
>>61077237>tfw the Necromancers literally failed at what was supposedly their "jobs" so hard that now an incursion is in full swingActually, how fast is it spreading at the moment?
>>61077270I'd have to finish mapping out the nearby areas to fully say, but there are people living to the east who are managing to keep it from spreading that way
>>61077270>>61077311The coastline is the thing I'm least sure on. The southwestern urban area on the map connects to a sort of combined urban/farmland area that extends down to nearly the southern edge of the next county, which is fairly vertical, and the flesh has probably spread through all of that already as well. A lot of the easy expansion routs have probably already been largely taken.
>>61077186I mean, what remains of them is some kind of life.>>61077270What can I say, we're spread thin and the Flesh doesn't usually pull this kind of thing. It's supposed to go for places with lots of easily "digestible" wildlife or a small population it can convert within the hour, growing out of sight and out of mind until some poor sap stumbles on it. To attack a Megacity out of nowhere is almost unheard of. This can't be a natural incursion, it has to be cultists.
>>61077311>>61077411So it's spreading at a rapid click then? Well isn't that dandy.>>61077663>This can't be a natural incursion, it has to be cultists.Mu cultists are too braindead to do anything as big as this, not without something greater to direct them.Personally, I'm blaming some Revolutionist idiots who underestimated the threat and let it seep into their minds.
>>61077729>Personally, I'm blaming some Revolutionist idiots who underestimated the threat and let it seep into their minds.More likely the megacity just fucked up and let some seedpods get into the bay.
>>61077785Regular ass Seedpods would drown, there's only one source of seedpods adapted to survive in water and it's covered by a semi-sentient concrete death machine the size of a continent. Not to mention a few million leagues away in the South Pacific!
In case anyone's interested, I'm doing this all on a single map. There isn't really that much to look at yet, but as work gets done that should change.>>61077729After what I said earlier, I realized that several sections of the map, such as the area north of the river in Solano, between to parts of the Megacity, are pretty open and flat (which is why I didn't color them with anything), so there's probably expansion happening there as well, just sort of filling in the space.
>>61077729>Without something greater to direct them>Something greater to direct them>direct themI think I found a cultist cell guys.
>>61076348>A-7 denies you stuff because you're batshit insane and you actively try to make already terrible situations worseHey now, no need for that. I'd expect that sort of response from the common folk and interns but I'd like to think that there's a certain level of professionalism to be had between licensed doctors. And it's not as if I specifically wanted some of my earlier works to go wrong! While I doubt it excuses some of my previous actions I'd just like to point out that at the time of my more...extreme...behavior I was dealing with quite a bit of stress which brought out the old zealot in me. Between being met with constant derision and a lack of support regarding my early projects and over a year of solitude in Microcity K-3 with nothing to keep me company but the beasts I wasn't exactly the most stable of individuals. Truth be told I'm probably still not all there quite yet but for what it's worth I'd like to think I'm doing better. What I'm getting at here is that I understand your concerns but I could really use a favor from one scientist to another. At least put in a word with the A-7 lab when you have the time and I'll see to it that I repay the debt. Hell, I'll even throw in some of the magitech I found in one of the labs for your troubles, help save you a few bucks in the annual budget that'd be better spent elsewhere.
>>61078257>At least put in a word with the A-7 lab when you have the time and I'll see to it that I repay the debt. Very well Marduk. I shall do my best to do so. But just be warned that I will astrally castrate you if I find out that this is some manner of trick. I have enough on my plate already dealing with mad Revolutionists, wannabe "professors" and self-proclaimed hisotrians or the occasional instance where something goes wrong and some horrid thoughtform entity almost breaches containment. And I do *not* want your stupidity to make my job harder than it is. Am I clear?
>>61078321You know it probably says a lot about what social interaction with individuals not of the faith can do to help re-estsblish what the appropriate response to threats and slights is since I'm not frothing at the mouth in abject rage currently. You've got yourself a deal, feel free to send a team down here to pick up whatever magitech they can cart off, not like I can use the stuff anyway. Just tell them to be mindful of the nests and avoid the flooded district and they'll be fine.
>>61076950Good shit anon.
>>61078603>Just tell them to be mindful of the nests and avoid the flooded district and they'll be fine.I shall make sure to do so. Hopes for the best to you, Marduk. For all your craziness and utter stupidity at times, you can do some work that even some of my fellow researchers would dare not venture into (and for good reason). And in a way, that is commendable.
>>61073812>VenerateHardly. One doesn't worship one's trade partners, one merely respects them. To address your other point, considering Titania once had a hundred human children skinned over a simple slight I'm not certain you can trust her definition of 'insane'. Or I suppose Oberon and his court could be insane by Seelie standards, but that doesn't stop them being reasonably stable by ours.
>>61077785I would tell you to ignore the necromancer (his is probably starting to rot already), but he is right that seedpods don't spread naturally. Mu produces them and cultists plant and tend to them until the new Flesh City is large enough to survive on its own
>>61049414>https://discord.gg/KhZ3QhThis is expired. I just wanna read up on this setting without having to sift through threads, thanks
>>61083573https://discord.gg/mMF3jMdThis one is permanent
>>61081749Just because it happens sometimes doesn't mean it happens all the time. Mu couldn't be the threat that it is if it was completely dependent on cultists.
>>61081749Nobody can get seedpods from Mu, because the city kills anyone dumb enough to enter and even then you'd have to sneak it past a fleet of necromancers stationed around the place. Best guest I can make is somebody scooped the stuff up during a previous breach while everyone was occupied for obvious reasons.
>>61084057>a fleet of necromancersNah, you probably ate Mu propaganda. Like literally. Those mystery meat might be contaminated with viral ideas. But in any case, while Mu does have some necromancers on hand, I don't think there's enough for a fleet. maybe a couple of boats max. Unless you count whatever sea-beast they raised. Then again, I pity the poor sods who tried to smuggle anything out of Mu. That's just asking for trouble. I know this raftboy who went with some shady dudes trying to get to one of the infected islands, returned with some kind of Mu critter 'jewelry'. Had to cut his house off the rafts when it grew on him, literally. Thing was looking like some kind of wooden cancerous mass.
>>61084057>fleet of necromancersYou're actually just taking the piss now. Also, nobody said people go to Mu to get the seedpods. Those come from Mu, which is one of the reasons why the idea of there being a fleet of necromancers highly specialized in containing Mu is absurd.
>>61084047>Mu couldn't be the threat that it is if it was completely dependent on cultists. My lad, you wouldn't believe how bad things really are.
>>61084545I'm well aware. Again, I live out here. You don't, you just fly some drones around or something. Relying on cultists means it needs people. That's a weakness that can be exploited, and unfortunately, it's a weakness it doesn't have.
>>61084625>You don't, you just fly some drones around or something. Only if I need direct physical samples of something (which is dangerous when it comes to Flesh). Everything else needs to be done solely by Astral Travel. And if you think the material world is bad, then you do *not* want to know what it's like over there. Or maybe you do. Not sure.
>>61084461>But in any case, while Mu does have some necromancers on hand, I don't think there's enough for a fleet. maybe a couple of boats max. Unless you count whatever sea-beast they raisedIt's gotten smaller since I first apprenticed on it, like I said, we're spread thin. Any updates on San Francisco?
>>61084057Can you stop telling those child stories about necromancer fleets? They are a myth and I don't want idiots falling for it. I was in the last Gaelic Fleet observation mission to the Pacific. All if those necromancer bullshit is nonsense
>>61084858Ah, Captain Finneill! It has been far too long since I last heard from you. Last I checked, you participated in some "reclamation war" or some such. I take it that you're well?
>>61084977People are still falling for that "Reclamation War" propaganda? No, I was just in a navy expedition to monitor the situation on the pacific. From all we could observe and from the sea floor samples the science crew collected Mu still doesn't seem to be spreading beyond its current size. Somehow it can't grow properly under the sea. That's why it needs pods to infect new landmasses. Pretty much all small islands in the pacific are already overrun, but any expansion beyond the pacific ocean is currently very limited. Some people in the parliament are talking big of purging those islands of Flesh and resettling them, but we are still completely unable to project force that far away from the Union.
>>61085159>Somehow it can't grow properly under the seaHuh, that's a new one for me. Sorry for cutting in but Mu's always been one of those things I like to keep tabs on. Your lab boys have any clue what's causing it? Too much salinity in the sea or the local aquatic fauna picking it off perhaps? No one really explores the oceans these days so for all we know there could be the flesh eating equivalent of parrot fish living down there keeping it at bay. The only other alternatives I can think of are that the flesh needs more oxygen to grow (unlikely), the water's somehow too polluted to facilitate growth, or it has to compete with the razor corals and the polyps for real estate. I mean there's also the very slight possibility that there something down there that the city doesn't want to mess with but I really, really don't want to think of that as an option. Anything that Mu doesn't want a part of is too much even for a guy like me.
>>61085478I don't know. I was just in charge of one of the escort ships. But from what I can remember of biology classes, I'm guessing its something to do with oxygen and sunlight. The flesh is still a living thing so it needs nutrients and energy to live. Plus if the stuff living in the ocean can sink a ship it can fight back against Mu's creatures.
Was wonderin' if any of y'all have seen these weird holy men runnin' around. Just had one show up, strangely durin' the Cloud Moth matin' season. Before he dun showed up, my house was surrounded by the buggers, and I was hunkered down. Then, a few days earlier than the Moths usually clear on out, this guy shows up, no Moths in sight. That was weird, but then this holy man asks if he can stay the night. I have always been too curious for my own good, so I let him and asked him a few things over dinner. Says he comes out from a "China," never heard of it. I ask him what he's doing way out here, and he says he's on a pilgrimage or something. Strangest thing to me was how he seemed to have almost nothing on him, at least compared to other travelin' types I see come 'round. Just a satchel. When I asked him 'bout that he just said he's an ascetic. He was gone in the morrin' like he was never here. Again, anybody else see these kind of people?
>>61085839I see them from time to time. Occasionally talk with them, but that's it. They have their jobs and I my own.
>>61085478It sure is interesting how people who don't live anywhere near places threatened by Mu have so many opinions about it.
>>61086783Depsite his..."quirks", Marduk is still a researcher. It is his job to know things like this, as it is mine. And this isn't just a case with Mu this is a case with ALL the Forces. Or have you forgotten the Time when the Binding Key completely devastated megacities DE4 through DS8 because it had managed to have its servants infilitrate the highest levels of their governmental bodies and toppled them from within? Or that time when an entire island disappeared some ways off to the South due to the Paradox?

>>61086966The Fae are directly, biologically incapable, of telling lies. Sure, they can partially obfuscate information from people to sucker them into things. But actually lying, straight up speaking things that are untruth? An impossibility. The published notes of Sir Howard Linsanii, "The Natures Of Fae And Their Dealings" goes into great detail on this subject.
>>61086845Sounds like you guys are doing a GREAT job keeping them in check, then.Regardless, if you're not dealing with the reality of what's going on here, you don't know what you're talking about.
>>61087114>The published notes of Sir Howard Linsanii, "The Natures Of Fae And Their Dealings" goes into great detail on this subject. It's also entirely based on second hand accounts of interactions with the Fae, rather than actual fieldwork.
>>61087223It does draw information from hundreds of accounts from Wardens, Rangers, Ruralites and even tribals, and the vast majority corroborates that the Fae are either unable or extremely averse to stating things that are objectively untrue, but they are extremely good in omitting or twisting information
>>61087186>Sounds like you guys are doing a GREAT job keeping them in check, then. You seem to be of the disbelief that the Forces can be opposed at all. They can't. And you are a naive fool if you think that burning cities of Mu or killing cultists impacts the Dreaming Flesh or its fellows in any direct capacity.>Regardless, if you're not dealing with the reality of what's going on here, you don't know what you're talking about.Ironic, coming from the almost-assuredly unskilled at anything that isn't digging hovels in the ground redneck.>>61087223The information is actually genuine though. Even Fae as vicious as the Redcap or Jenny Greenteeth are bound by the fact that they cannot lie full-out. Every word and tale that a Fae speaks must have some actual truth within it, or it causes them all manner of unpleasant things.
>>61087114>Howard LinsaniiYou mean that guy who got laughed out of the academy for thinking Midsummer Night's Dream was a credible source? The man who drew lewd pictures of Titania and himself having sex? The professor who was last seen departing for the Deep Woods to try to seduce her and was never seen again? That Howard Linsanii?
Sup faggotsSo long story short, I’ve got a new job in what’s left of Japan (don’t ask, it’s some weird shit for Icono). Anyone know what Neo-Tokyo is like? I know fuck all about it because I’m usually more focused on what’s gonna kill me at home.

>>61087379The one who wanted to fuck Titania was his twin brother (who ALSO shared the name of Howard Linsanii). Iconocorp probably wants you dead because you disobeyed one or more of their "never question us" laws.
>>61087484Don't listen to >>61087750Japan is doing fine. Neo-Tokyo is nice as long as you don't mind it being a little cramped. >>61087750>>61087895You're both idiots. Japan being infected with flesh is Chruch-fed bullshit. Literally look up a kaiju livestream on IcoNet. They're all sourced out of Japan.
>>61087750Ezo National Redoubt isn't that bad place, sure it is a military junta where most crimes are punished with death and half of the population are serving in either military or national work companies. Sure it might sound harsh but given that they're located right next to Honshu aka the biggest concentration of Mu-shit outside of Mu itself it is pretty easy to understand why such measures are necessary. >>61087903>>61087976t. Iconocorp-shills, everyone knows that seas around Japan are too cold for kaijus.
>>61087976>Literally look up a kaiju livestream on IcoNet. >using anything even vaguely Iconocorp relatedYeah, after seeing one of my co-workers go blind when they tried to scrub some Iconocrap, I'm not touching your shit with a aluviraium pole, thanks.
>>61087484Ignore >>61087750, he is talking nonsense. Japan had a big problem with flesh spreading over it but they successfully purged like 99% of it. There are some tiny patches of Flesh in the mountains that they can't track down and burn, but it's entirely contained. The countryside has youkai fae and dangerous animals, so you gotta watch out, but Tokyo is way better than any Megacity in North America. Try to catch a fight between the giant cloud moth and the lizard that started to live near the city. They are too busy fighting each other to be a problem for the city, but sometimes some neighborhoods are lost due to collateral damage
>>61087903>>61087976>iconocorp shills seriously expect people to believe any city that show up in the feed to be tokyoAnyone remember when Big Berta and Horrible Harry were duking it out near what was clearly Mozambique but the announcers kept bald-facedly lying about it?
>>61088240I remember when they tried to tell us that Hvaitfel was tearing through a Japanese countryside, but was instead quite clearly somewhere in Madagascar.
>>61088332That wasn't nearly as bad as when they had that free-for-all in Giza and they had to desperately make up shit about burial mounds because they couldn't get the pyramids out of the shot. Does marketing think no one would be interested in kaiju if they weren't japanese?
>>61086783What makes you assume I haven't seen what Mu is capable of? As Dr.Yvel has pointed out, it's my job to know these sorts of things, hell, learning about Mu is one of the mandatory prerequisites to getting a license as a bioengineer. You'll also find that I'm a very well travelled man, in fact I can almost guarantee you that the only folk who could possibly have willingly seen more mileage than myself would be the Rangers and veteran Captains like O'Neal. I've been to the edge of the quarantine zones, I know what the flesh can do, and it worries me. So it goes without saying that anything that slows down Mu is cause for equal parts hope and concern in my eyes.
>>61088410>Does marketing think no one would be interested in kaiju if they weren't japanese? The word 'Kaiju' is Japanese, so that's a very real possibility. Among the Iconocorp boards at least. The actual fights in Japan would never be publicly broadcast, considering their censorship laws, but you can pretty easily find a few videos online if you know where to look. The whole idea of Japan being consumed by the flesh is a complete waste of an opportunity complete horseshit invented by a so called 'explorer' whose Asian girlfriend broke up with him just before he left America. Why else do you think all of the Jeffords accounts go into perverse detail about how fucked all of Asia is and how fantastic everywhere else is?

Until the discord irons out all the kinks and posts a PDF saying "this is how the world and the Powers and everything else works" we're going to continue getting new folks coming in and trying to shape the world without consulting others. It's a big part of why outside of introducing new fauna I've been vague about locations while acting as Marduk.
UnknownSignal//Autoplay:true-Allright you lot of cunts lemme teach ya a thing. Specifically you slick city cunts. See me 'ere you probably did a real mad cunt thing and broke out of the IcoNet, that there Wide Area Network within the cities linked between a few of the major ones, mostly out in North America with spotty coverage at major population centers world woide right.See it in't all like that! Us crazy cunts out in the fookin' sticks are bushwackin' eachother out here left and roight to get a big wack at piggybacking off of the IcoNet's Hypernet access. See outside your comfy cozy little cracker boxes there's a really big fookin' network of all kinds a' crazy stuff out there, that right there is the Hypernet. It's run right off of old world satellites, sub stations, some undersea cable and fiberoptics and other super massive radio towers to name a few. Now IcoNet owns a lot of that infrastructure in the Americas, China and some of New New Zealand, but they don't own the HyperNet as a whole. Round these parts it's mostly bush antennas, and from around the world we get spottier and spottier signal as all the little old machines fight to stay alive and keep the bandwidth up, gettin their cunts slapped by crazy storms, giant fish, pigs, anything that don't like the signal or is just indifferent. All around the world you got the smaller sprawls of the SuperNet, this is the mesh coverage that people hook up to directly before it gets bounced round da fuckin' globe into space and back on the HyperNet. Some of it is unsecured so anyone can surf it, others is held like precious water and horded on secure networks. In a lot of ways IcoNet is like that to the HyperNet, and there are others out there too that are premium protected services that keep their tight little communities in one neat little place with a homogeneous network culture. The HyperNet on the other claw aint like that and don't care, it just connects.>Transmissionend2%cuNT84//Personalitycorrupted.
>>61093755...Dare I even ask?
>>61096274I think....I think we just encountered an Australian. A bogan one at that.
>>61085478>>61089043It's simpler and more benign than you're making it. Essentially, the Ocean Floor around Mu is barren, more or less as a result of Natural Selection.Flesh needs living things to grow and mutate, no food, no way for it to grow. This is one of the reasons why "SET THINGS ON FIRE!" is the standard operating procedure for containing Flesh outbreaks. Thing that worries me though, is that typically when put in such a situation, Flesh tends to break off pieces of itself and sort of bridge itself to new sources of food, sort of like an amoeba. If it's doing that now, it's not via the ocean floor. Or at least not where the Zeds can see it.
>>61097219>Flesh needs living things to growOnce again, that doesn't make any fucking sense.
>>61097286It honestly depends on what infection vector the Dreaming Flesh is using this week. A physical method requires organic material (not just 'living' things either) and will sputter out and wither away quickly enough if it can't accumulate enough biomatter. But the more metaphysical infection forms? Closer to contagious ideas and thoughtform that infect and enable the spread of the Flesh through any individual who can't fight against it. This is much faster than the physical method, but it's also about as subtle as a dancing Cloud Moth in a liquor store and can be found out and killed in little time if caught quickly enough.
>>61097508Yeah but that particular vector requires a thinking host. It can't exactly pull that one on the sand and rock down there.
Hey everyone, I'm in the hospital after last weeks... incident with the forest fire. I failed my Ranger Final because I had to ask for a medivac (thank you Ranger Fal!), but they'll give me another opportunity in a few weeks after I retake a first aid and identification course. Then it's back to the hollars! In the mean time I get ta' continue what I've been doin'!So today we'll start with a pet, and a controversial one at that. The mothcat, a stylized pic is available here for yer terminal. Now, let's talk about what makes a Mothcat SPECIAL, since I assume you have enough samples to get a jist on their size. If not, find a single lady friend.Firstly, if you take a real look at your mothcat, you'll notice it can follow yer gaze, and if you are upset they'll come up and cuddle on your lap. This is because a mothcat is EXTREMELY empathic. This is actually a side effect of their engineered "moth" side, which grants 'em (minor) telepathy. While they ain't smart enough to make much out of your thoughts or perceptions, let alone trick you, it does grant them an extra "edge" evolutionarily speaking. They use it to do a few things:1- pick up on social cues in other species, allowing them to better identify (read which is aggressive, alert, or tired) prey2- double check their stealth and know if something is aware of 'em wanderin' about. With humans, mothcats are real popular because of numero uno. This is ALSO why a few mothcats can clean out most pest infestations and render chunks extinct--being able to telepathically locate mice is a huge bonus for us, but a real doozy for local birds!A mothcats antennae are real sensitive too, and much like their tiny cousins they are used for smell. DO NOT RUB THEM TOO HARD, THEY CAN COME OFF. WHILE THEY REGROW, THIS IS EXTREMELY DISORIENTING FOR MOTHCATS. Unfortunately, some people will trim their antennae for aesthetic or show purposes. That ruins their smell, so they won't eat food much even if it's right in front of 'em!
>>61098348Welcome back, brother. Good to see you made it out. We threw one hell of a funeral for you, shame you missed it.
>>61090764If you don't like it give me back Mu and I'll be on my way discordfag
>>61098348Now, individually, there ain't much a mothcat can do. Eat, sleep, about all they WANT to do. They'll make their silky cocoons in yer crawl and attic, but that's about it. In numbers though oh boy do you have a problem. Ya see, humans ain't meant for that much probing, psychic probing that is. Makes you jittery, gives you strange dreams, makes animals start marking their territory even when it don't make sense, because all they know is that "something" is there. What that don't compare to is the severe schizophrenia that can develop when you get yourself a person livin with a dozen mothcats for years on end. Not only is that more than a few shirts eaten by kittens, that's a LOT of psychiatric problems! This is why so many neighborhoods have an allowance of up to 1-2 mothcats per neighborhood, and usually must be spayed and neutered.Mothcat (solitary)HD 1d4 (2hp)tiny beastFly 20 ft, move 30 ftAttack Bonus +2, bite 1d4-2, claw 1d4-2Special: Detect Thoughts (at will), scentNOTE: Mothcats grow more potent in larger numbers.
