Story number two: talking to newly acquired gf while she drives, she's a film buff (or as close as normies can get, all typical casual stuff) keeps bringing up all these trash movies I've never watched. /qst/ is an offshoot board from /tg/, to manage the influx of quest threads that used to be here, to the point that much of /tg/ would complain. There was a schism between the two groups.

In any case, the joke hinges on Skinner correctly assuming that Chalmers doesn't go to /qst/ while stabbing vainly in the dark. He's clearly pulling things out of his ass and hoping Chalmers isn't able to call him on it, and yet Chalmers buys into it, even when he's pointing out the flaws.
It's funny because we can see just how desperately Skinner is reaching for any possible ground to stand on, saying things that are clearly false or provable to be false, and yet he still manages to keep going.

Quests and /v/ generals are not remotely similar. For one thing, generals on /tg/ outnumbered quests for years before quests were moved. The typical anti-quest rhetoric can't even get it's story straight. One sentence will be about how all quests were from off board (even though the entire format started on /tg/) and the next will be about how they didn't deserve to be here because they were "parasitic" and drew their audience from the general board population. Quests just over stayed its welcome that's all.

People didn't mind it when it first cropped up because many of them were short with original content. A person basically needed to read the thread and they were pretty much caught up.

Then quests got longer and, after nazimod, we lost roaming creative types completely so quests just became a place for people who were only there from the start.

I understand the arguments for, but quests were very much separated from rest of /tg /by the end.
Nail in the coffin was when every board's quests got thrown to /tg /

Drew the lich, the prototypical psuedo quest that came before, also had a rather long archive, which was quite hard to catch up on given the technology of the day.
