Kamigakari is a JTTRPG Focused on episodic storytelling, with simple but tight mechanics.

Its design goal is to start players spread out, getting involved with the episodes peculiarities, and eventually coming together to fight a big bad, A la Power rangers, Kamen rider, Magical girl shows, and other such shows in that vein.

TL;DR, Its a Monster of the Week Format game with an emphasis in the fluff on high power shenanigans of just about every type.
Remember boys and girls, Japanese schedules suck, so JTTRPGS are optimized toward quick and easy sessions.
That said, they can be adapted for longer ones.

Good luck at work. Anyone can start these threads. I'm just the one who did it this time. Usually they get started on Fridays because a while ago there was a poll on what day would be best for most people.

Ok so I know Kamigakari is optimized toward quick easy sessions, but how well does it handle one shots?

>>56719483
>>
>>56719950
Extremely easily. Its arguably designed for it, even.

You could also tap into sanctum rules if you really wanted to try some shit, but if you just wanna fill in, a regular one shot is very doable. You could have them make some characters real quick, or use the sample ones, if you don't want to continue their character progression without the GM.
>>
>>56719950
One shots are pretty much 90%+ of Japanese rpg playing
>>
>>56719933
So is the Cocoon Maiden meant to act as a Sentry Gun?

A self defending Prison Cell? (You lock a prisoner up in it and anyone who tries to get close without authorization {say someone wanting to break the prisoner out} gets shot?)

If you bind/teacher someone's soul, or install a copy of someone's mind into a golem is the result a cyborg or something else?
>>
>>56720175
At best it would be an android. It still wouldn't have any biological traits, and the information would be wholly digitized, so it wouldn't really be a cyborg as we normally think of them.

Also, i think you meant tether.

What about a creature that copies someone's mind then starts building constructs and pasting copies of the mind into them?
>>
>>56720228
That would create some issues if all these new people weren't hostile and wanted to integrate into society.
>>
>>56720175
an android/gynoid (depending on whether the body is male or female) as a cyborg is a biological being that has replaced parts of itself with mechanical parts.
>>
>>56720199
>Also, i think you meant tether.
Indeed I do.

So full body cyborgs where "full body" includes the brain are androids in this systems. And what is a souls bound to a puppet body (be it your own corpse like a lich, or something else, body-less armor like FMA, or sticking someone in an articulated doll or statue) be in this system?
>>
>>56720277
No, i'm saying that at the point that you are taking a digitized mind and putting it into a robotic shell, thats a bit too far into robotics to be a cyborg, from a semantics point of view.

Using motoko kusanagi as an example, She's only still a cyborg because she has a human brain, albeit one rigged up with a bunch of shit. If her brain becomes digitized and put back into the body, at that point she would be an android.

So far as sticking the soul to shit and what that would be, that all depends on the "body" used. If its a corpse, then basically an undead of whatever type. Like a lich, as you said, or just a ghoul or something. Bodyless armor would just be possessed armor, as would a doll or statue. Its a very case by case thing.

Homebrew guide updated up to level 7.

You'll notice that there seems to be a spike in power at level 6, but thats due to an outlier entry at a stat total of a whopping 39, with the others being 37, 32, and 33 respectively. Its hardly conclusive data, so aim at around 32 for actually making stats for a level 6 mononoke.

well, you could go two ways with this. Fast and hard, or build up security with more mundane shit and rip it down in an instant.

With the former, you slap em with it outright. Nothing held back, shits gettin weird NOW.

With the latter, it may have more impact overall, but will take some reading and at least a few rounds of some fairly mundane fantasy shlock. But the pay off when some weird shit happens will be worth it.

Totally up to you though. Mononoke can get weird just as fast as you want them too.

Most god eater monsters are usually accompanied by ogre tails, cocoon maidens, or these zygotes.

>>

I've got one of those dumb questions related to the game, but when something mentions a "use condition" for a talent, what's that even referring to? Presumably, it's whatever condition for a unique or similar talent for "Use when target does a thing", and removing that lets one use the talent freely for the same effect.

That about right?
>>
>>56726555
Do you have a specific example?
>>
>>56726610
Here's the item write-up that prompted the question:

Magic Ring
Slot : Hand
Cost : 500G
An otherworldly ring that serves as a magical weapon. It can be used as a conjuration focus.
While [Equipped], the character is treated as fulfilling the use condition of [Elder Mage A] Style Talents.
>>
>>56726955
Ooooooooooh. Thats entirely different to what i was thinking.

You see, most style's require you to have something specific equipped so as to use them. For example, arc slayer requires weapons, Dragon carrier requires one of two specific accessories, and Elder mage talents require [Form: Magic] Weapons specifically.

What that ring does is let you use said talents even if you don't have said kind of weapon equipped. So you could, as an example, have a [Form: Sword] equipped, while simultaneously using Elder mage style talents. It opens up variety.
>>
>>56727041
so if you are two things
Arc Slayer B/Elder Mage A for instance.
that ring would, for all intents and purposes, let you be equipped to use abilities related to both since with it on your finger you would only need to be carrying your Arc Slayer weapon?
>>
>>56727481
Correct.
>>
>>56727549
So the maindrawbacks are

if no one in your party is the thing the ring helps, it's only useful for trade/resale/sentimental value.

if more than one party member is the thing the ring helps then you need to work out who gets it at what times.
>>
>>56727740
As with any loot in any system, yes.

Its also stupid cheap, so just buy another one between sessions if you really want one, for the second situation.
>>
>>56727041
That's handy to know. Potentially useful, too. Although given it was suggested for a character whose entire theme is just being full Magical girl, probably not necessary. Still a decent option to grab, I suppose.
>>
>>56728095
With the sheer variety i've seen in magical girls over the years, thats not saying a lot. For that matter, assuming your magical girl is using dragon carrier for their transformation shenanigans, keeping a physical weapon and that ring handy is by no means a bad idea.
>>
>>56728095
Don't magical girl powers sometimes need worn artifacts to work?
>>
>>56728151
Dragon Carrier B. So pretty much defense focus with Elder Mage A for most of the actual damage output.

It still might be a good idea to pick up and a non-magic type weapon for melee or ranged just in case, but she's not leaned toward it at all.

...Hm, just having a grenade launcher or similar in reserve would be amusing, though.

>>
>>56728873
oops. That should say.

How well does this system handle attempts to solve problems with charm instead of violence?
>>
>>56728940
>>56728940
Okay, thats what i assumed but had to make sure before making an ass of myself.

Its dependant on the baddy in question, but there are a few mechanics for at least attempting it. The system is built on the assumption that the majority of baddies are, for lack of a better term, non-negotiable. Aramitama are avatars of destruction, with all the leeway that gives. Few are intelligent, and less are open for discussion.

If you use godhunters as enemies often, or have a few particularly intelligent and less-belligerent aramitama in the game, then diplomacy is possible. There's a set of 4 skills in the maneuvers part of the rules section of the core book that would be used for this purpose. They are Etiquette, Negotiation, Command, and Charm.

To actually answer the question though, its largely dependent on the GM in question. The mechanics are there, but you'd need to play some of it by ear.
>>
>>56728608
>someone else watched maoyuu

That series is underrated as fuck. i never hear anyone talking about it.
>>
>>56729040
command has direct diplomatic use? I kind of thought it was only useful in manipulating people and things that are already on your side.
>>
>>56729059
The manga made a splash here but the pace slowed down when the anime was greenlit.
Also it never actually turned into porn, and our attention spans are short.
>>
>>56729086
Forceful as it may be, direct force of personality can also be a diplomatic endeavor. For example, Two people are attempting to take control over a mob of people over the other person. One person manages to win out over the other, and gains an advantage.

The ability to command people isn't directly diplomatic, rather the opposite, but its effects can be used to diplomatic effect. The effects a command on a third party can have can be used as a bargaining chip of sorts.
>>
>>56729059
>That series is underrated as fuck. i never hear anyone talking about it.

>>56720095
so are these meant to be both early encounters and something a GM can easily make tougher versions for stronger parties or when a greater threat of the same kind (exploits difficult environments and inflicts status effects respectively) is deemed desirable?
Or would scaling these be a bit finicky?
>>
>>56729174
Well, most things can be "Scaled" so to speak by adding the aramitama or boss templates.

Aside from that though, making a higher level version wouldn't be too hard, so long as the core principle behind the stats remains the same.

Also, the anime is "Maoyuu maoh yuusha". Its similar to spice and wolf in that it focus' on themes outside of direct combat, and even features horo and laurence's VA's as the "maoh" and "Yuusha" respectively.
>>
>>56729170
Ok that makes sense.

So using command as a diplomatic tool is using raw presence or force of personality to manipulate a situation or put yourself in a position to use Etiquette, Negotiation, or Charm where you otherwise wouldn't or would have faced a harsher challenge in doing so.

It's also useful for inserting your influence by providing guidance or direction in a situation that desperately requires it.

>>56729239
>spice and wolf
>horo and laurence VA
>"maoh" and "Yuusha"

I don't know what these are.
>>
>>56729491
Spice and wolf is an anime, horo and laurence are the female and male lead of said anime, and "Maoh" and "Yuusha" are terms meaning "Demon lord" and "hero" respectively.

Maoyuu uses titles as names, rather than distinct names, so the female and male leads are the "Maoh" and "Yuusha" from >>56728608

We've run into an arms race in our group that's starting to hurt the campaign. One of our players is running an Elder Mage B/Digital Sorcerer B, playing a very effective white mage. Problem is, he's a little too effective, as he can easily clean up any damage we take every round. This has led to the GM sending much larger waves of stronger enemies at us every combat, which forces our white mage to step up his game and pick healing talents that can compete with the sheer numbers the enemies are throwing out.

At the moment our GM is lamenting that he can't throw appropriately-leveled challenges at us anymore because they've been made a non-issue by our healer, and he doesn't want to keep upping the ante for everyone else just because of one player. Do you have any suggestions for how we can regain some degree of normalcy, or how to make appropriately-leveled encounters that aren't trivialized by a healer?
>>
>>56730022
You can always have it so the party is forced to split, that's one way.

Another thing is to challenge them in the weakpoints for a change? What are they bad at?

Vary up the enemies and the terrain so that they have to deal with other obstacles that require their attention while taking them out of their comfort zone.

I actually have a few mononoke in stock for just that issue.

The problem with your situation is that its an arms race to hit an arbitrary number of damage that your healer then mops up. I'm willing to bet that he also deals pretty well with a good assortment of status effects.

So get creative. Using this mononoke as an example, i gave it an ability that skips downed, and goes straight to taken out. Healers can't do anything about that, to my knowledge, so it makes it a race against time to take it out before it takes down the party as a whole.

This brings up a question.

How does this system handle chases, and how easy would it be to change things to make chases more dynamic and take the environment and reflexes, and driving and non-driving skills of the PCs into account instead of just the top speed of vehicles/characters?

They don't usually show till round late sunday i don't think, but i'm not sure if they actually played this week.

If so, we'll have a hell of an interesting storytime after the cliffhanger from before, if not we'll need to wait with bated breath.

I played my first session of Kamigakari this Friday!

I'm pleasantly surprised to see how quick and intuitive the dice swap mechanic was, and how it was pretty easy to pick up for even a complete beginner.

I do wish some of the classes were more balanced against each other, though.

Same.

Arc Slayer seems really strong, Time Wizard seems pretty underwhelming. I was thinking about going for Divine Talker, but A meshed pretty badly with my other style and B didn't look too great. I did notice a lot of people were either playing or considering Legacy User.

>>56737393
Technically it was a session 0 combat intro, I guess. We did all make characters more-or-less together, though.

>>56737760
There's not much of a storytime I can do since we didn't really start a story, but:

>Setting: a high school for Godforged, Mononoke, and other similar things. Kinda Gensokyo, kinda X-men. Lots of politics, probably.

>Characters:
>Miya Seinobashi, an Inheritor from a clan that's managed to gain and hold onto its power largely through alliances and symbolic marriage to the mononoke in the area (as well as negotiating for peace on a larger scale when the Night of Purgatory happened and mononoke began to come out of hiding). Hanyou, Contractor B/Digital Sorcerer A, though I've refluffed the latter as something closer to Divine Talker. Actually, I've been doing a lot of refluffing in general. It's fun.

>Meiling Niushan, an ox mononoke from China. Super strong, not necessarily super bright. At the school because politics. Fights with a set of nunchaku and absolutely destroys monsters. HUGE. Hanyou, God Hand B/Legacy User B

>Lilette Ladancia, witch. Has mastered an entire style of magic and it is laser. Also a healer, for which we are eternally grateful. Super hammy, possibly smugwitch. Not sure what race. Legacy User/??? (Elder Mage?)

>Rin Yamaguchi, the eternal unknown. The player had some trouble getting the sheet done on time, but managed pretty well in combat. Unknown race, unknown styles, though melee-focused and somewhat tanky (less tanky than Meiling).
>>
>>56741312
Legacy user A is basically arc slayer A+, so its understandable people will gravitate towards it. It does have its limitations though. So far as B, thats the easiest method of making a mecha, so people will naturally gravitate towards it. Also, people like the idea of powerful artifacts and such.

So far as arc slayer seeming strong and time wizard being underwhelming, i think your combats are a bit too simplistic at this point, so its hard to guage. Arc slayers not bad, but it does have its weaknesses. Time wizard is better as you go on and initiative shenanigans become actually useful.
>>
>>56741362
I haven't actually said anything about my combats, but the answer's a resounding 'probably'. And this is my gut reaction after flipping through all the styles, so it's not particularly good analysis even from someone brand new to the system.
>>
>>56741362
>thats the easiest method of making a mecha
this is so true, and i feel so bad for the other godforged protectors
>>
>>56741391
Well, you did say it was a session 0 combat intro, so i'm just assuming that you've only dipped your toe into the combat portion.

Honestly, thats how it was for my group as well. it took us a bit to make sure we were doing everything correctly.
>>
>>56741422
Fair enough.
>>
>>56741312
>Technically it was a session 0 combat intro, I guess.

Game's I've been in that have a session 0, or practice before the first session tend to do well in terms of people wanting to play and make things work. Scheduling and IRL can still kill games of course.

It's a good sign because it means the GM and players care about this group activity enough to plan, show up for, and participate in preparatory activities before the game even starts.

More like this. Also, she's Legacy A/Elder Mage B and Demon-Eyed for race.

>>56741800
Yeah, three of us are completely new to the system, so a test run just to make sure we had the rules down and were okay with how our styles worked together was very appreciated.

Also, holy shit, this is a system where summoning actually works and doesn't take forever, it's so nice.
>>
>>56743577
I was more making a laser joke. The Nova mech in that configuration says to hell with varied weapons and just goes all in on lasers. Sadly I didn't think of quickly editing a witch hat onto it before posting.

>Also, holy shit, this is a system where summoning actually works and doesn't take forever, it's so nice.

When you say it works do you mean it doesn't have a high chance of failure? Or that it's practical compared to other forms of magic?
>>
>>56744039
It doesn't bog down the game because summons have static accuracy and evade so it cuts down on a lot of rolling.
>>
>>56744121
It also means that it's not worth summoning a thing once they stop being the highest leveled thing and that most likely bosses will ignore the motherfucker because it can't touch them (but most likely the boss will kill it with an area combat zone rank 99 attack that ignores armor and barrier and cannot be responded to nor resisted).
>>
>>56744150
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Probably, but I'm having fun while it lasts.
>>
>>56744150

Like, to be clear, I'm fine with my summons being essentially disposable and I have faith in my GM that we'll homebrew a solution if they end up being completely irrelevant further on down the line.
>>
>>56744190
It's an exaggeration, he's referring to the fact that bosses can have ridiculous ranked attacks really early on.

For that same reason, there's no point in running any B style or really, any style that isn't Arc Slayer A and MAYBE Legacy User A (but just to have a better weapon at lv1). Kamigakari is extremely weighted towards hyper offense.
>>
>>56744258

I wonder why there isn't a magical crime syndicate.
Right, like a magical branch of the Mafia or Yakuza. ... Or would that sort of thing not fit in the universe?
>>
>>56745481
Other than the fact that it's a lot more difficult to profit off hunting people than hunting aramitama, I don't see why not. There's a lot of conflict over territory driving things anyway.
>>
>>56745481
I wonder if it makes more business sense for organized crime syndicates to keep a godhunter or aramitama on retainer, or to only hire them for specific tasks when you need them.

Like what are the major upkeep issues with godhunters and aramitama?
>>
>>56740469
>>56741289
Player speaking, we actually have a session later today. Very excited! Not sure why he hasn't been posting here lately, though.
>>
>>56746464
which character do you play?
>>
>>56744246
Coming from an oldfag, you don't need to worry about that.

There was a long time where contractor B was argued to be overpowered as shit.

Their arguments boiled down to
>Early game they hit hard if you get X items
>Extra action economy can break everything

But that was only the case because we didn't have book 1's GM stuff. Or even homebrew rules, for that matter. So its safe to say that at least until we get to later levels, you will be fine. and by later, i mean 10+, or around that.
>>
>>56744477
None because he's full of shit. At the very minimum, there's magic using enemies, which will absolutely destroy your party if it made up entirely of arc slayers or legacy users simply because they don't have the stats to avoid the damage on an often enough basis.

So at absolute minimum, assuming a head on slugfest of sheer power, you'd want at least arc slayer/legacy user and one magic caster class with good Will.

If your party was comprised of entirely arc slayers, a single area/combat zone nuke would wipe you out.
>>
>>56746632
I play Ruth, the tall one. It's been a lot of fun playing, though our group has a nasty habit of one or two players usually having work scheduled on the session day. We're still plenty of episodes ahead of the GM's storytime here though, so I guess the only thing keeping him from writing them is his own schedule.

I'm not much of a storyteller, but if you've got any questions about the campaign I'd be happy enough to fill you in. I could tell you more about the characters, if you'd like? I know the isekai storytimes tend to focus more on the plot of the episode itself.
>>
>>56746432
There are, for lack of a better term, "Evil organizations" in kamigakari. Some worship aramitama, as an example, and actively help them bring about evil shit.

You could easily whip up an evil mafia though. God hunters are easily stronger than average people, and their abilities can be used for a lot of shady shit. especially dark hunters.
>>
>>56746865
Thats something i've noticed about isekai and kansai anon.

Isekai tends to focus on the story and the group as a whole, while kansai does the opposite. He tells the story with a lot of detail from the character side of things.
>>
>>56746865
what was your inspiration and reason for making a character like Ruth?
>>
Alrighty I just finished my session but real talk I need to get at least a little bit of sleep. I would really like to write up ST but I can't stay awake. I'm going to set an alarm for about an hour or two and if i'm up i'm up. I want to thank anyone who has been sticking around with the story.

I'm sure at least some of the players might be bumming around on the thread so you might get to poke them or something
>>
>>56747817
Dude, if you need sleep, you need sleep. Thread will be here when you get back.
>>
>>56747311
I liked the idea of playing a big, quiet, scary character, but at the same time I like to roleplay, so I wanted someone that could still interact with the party. Ruth's the biggest bully in school both literally and figuratively, even her legal name is Ruthless McKillen, but her gag is that she's just socially terrified and comically misunderstood-- every attempt to make niceties ends up lost in translation and comes out as something mean. She's been trying to join the Auto Club and accidentally keeps extorting them out of all their school funding instead, for example.

The only people who know she's a softie are the rest of the party, due to the mental link we inexplicably gained after stepping through the isekai portal. It's been a lot of fun to play with the rest of the party, and unlike what the isekai storytimes imply we have a tendency to do a LOT of roleplaying.
>>
dishwasher broke. fuck. gonna be out for a bit.
hope thread is still here when I get back.
>>
>>56748552
interesting. So while some PCs outward behavior toward Ruth changed quickly, everyone in the party was suddenly having their assessment of her changed, along with their assessment of everyone else in the party.
>>
>>56748552
what did she do with the auto club's money?
>>
>>56747817
Get some sleep dude. Also thank you and the players for coming around to share your story again and again.

>unlike what the isekai storytimes imply we have a tendency to do a LOT of roleplaying.

What are scene that stand out or are special to you? for any reason, doesn't have to be because they were especially heavy or well done.
>>
>>56749175
I'd bet she just sorta held onto it, and hasn't used it yet because she wants to give it back
>>
>>56749498
not sure if you are the player speculating about their character, or a random anon speculating about someone else character, or another player from the same game speculating about a fellow player's character.
>>
>>56745481
That's the kind of worldbuilding that takes a bit of thought, so you won't find it in the book.
>>
>>56746742
What items?

Asking for a friend, of course.
>>
>>56750247
There's a couple items in the first expansion who's sole use is to make contractor mononoke stronger. I can't remember what they are off the top of my head though. i'll get back to you on that.

>>56750117
I'm a different person speculating based on what was said already.
>>
>>56750321
Okay, i looked it up. The items in question are as follows.

>summon card
>Ashura record
>Spirit ball

The summon card and spirit ball both increase the damage of bound primals and steeds, and the ashura record increases the level of bound primal you can summon to 1 above your current level.
>>
>>56750321
>I'm a different person speculating based on what was said already.

>>56746742
>>56750321
What character builds have the most bookkeeping?
>>
>>56751794
Bookkeeping? Hmm.... Hard to say.

If i had to say, contractor B and Legacy user both have more than average bookkeeping since they have extra mechanics on their weapons/summons to keep track of. Otherwise, i'm not really sure if any of them stand out in that regard.
>>
is this an appropriate mindset for summons in an anime game?

I can see three stooges summon shenanigans with an enemy as the third "Stooge" being a hilarious way to play.

Based on the description I can see it working, but I have problem imagining how to make it work regularly rather than having it work for just a single encounter.
>>
>>56752245
How so? While contractor summons only last until the end of a round or scene, and can only be used once per as well, nothing says you can't summon the same ones over and over again and just have them doing shenanigans while other stuff is happening.

Ah, thats very different.

Mostly, its a matter of imagination. The actual effects don't need to change, but how you describe them happen is what will determine the overall tone of the summon as a character.

You'd need to come up with all sorts of slapstick gags, some that act as attacks, others where they are just being obnoxious. Its more about how you have them react to a situation than trying to plan it out ahead of time.

For example, lets say you are in a SUPER SERIOUS talk in a rich guys mansion, for whatever reason. Without the chaos stooge thing, it would go exactly like that. With it though, and just having them acting in the background, you can lighten the mood and even potentially get more information, if their antics uncover anything they are trying to hide.

Its all up to how you react, not how you plan.

The mental link changed the party dynamic pretty quickly, yeah. Our characters weren't acquainted with each other beforehand, but they ended up stuck together afterwards because of it. Ruth in particular hasn't mastered the mental link yet, so just about everything she thinks is broadcasted to everyone else whether she wants it to or not. It's led to some awkward situations in the past.

>>56749175
She keeps trying to give it back, but she can only muster up the word 'money' when she tries to talk to them so they just panic and toss more wads of cash at her before fleeing. It doesn't help that she carries the money in a body bag.

>>56749285
It's a hard choice, and I'll admit my favorites are steeped in personal bias. Meeting Damu (child princess NPC) for the first time was a fun scene since she showed up in the middle of a big wild-west-style fight with some floating guns. Apparently she took a liking to Ruth in particular because she looks 'big and cool,' and the rest of the party discovered the two things that can pierce Ruth's bulletproof armor rating: compliments and big sister complexes.

Another fun scene was for Ryuko, who's a pop-idol in training at the local mall. In Haxia (name of the isekai world) she's a Honyou, complete with fox ears and tail, and the tail in particular is apparently super important? Enough so that the four noble Honyou houses are now competing for her favor, forming the tail-chasing harem that Ryuko herself has had very conflicted thoughts about. They've showered the party with gifts and even a mansion by association, which is pretty sweet if somewhat uncomfortable to accept. The scene when they first showed up in tandem throwing a parade for her was fun, as Ryuko's usually pretty bold and straightforward but was reduced to awkward pleasantries when she had four notably handsome fox-eared men pining for her attention.

There's a few more that I can think of, but I'm running out of space. Should I keep going?
>>
>>56755344
>She's trying to give the money back

Fucking called it.

Man, if she has enough money to need something like a body bag to carry it all around, they've been throwing around enough cash to actually just buy a car.
>>
>>56755344
If i remember isekai anons story right, you'd have gotten the mansion regardless because it belongs to whoever the "Guardians" are at any one time.
>>
>>56755400
True, that. Granted this has been over the course of nearly two years, but the auto club has been run dry of funds because of it anyway. The real-world stuff sometimes gets a little tongue-in-cheek with its proportions in favor of anime tropes, so the club tends to throw ninja-smoke-bombs of dollar bills to cover up their escape when Ruth's around.

>>56755413
Also true; the guy gave us a key to the mansion, which we were apparently supposed to inherit anyway. I wish I'd remembered that at the time though, it would have been fun to mention that one of the honyou houses tried to bribe Ryuko with something that technically belonged to her anyway.

Not sure if it was mentioned in the storytime, but that mansion is inhabited by this eldritch darkstalker...maid thing? Its name is Tinti, and it makes everyone very uncomfortable with how gung-ho she is with her job since most of the party doesn't take kindly to the idea of slavery. The enslavement of darkstalkers has actually turned into a pretty important topic for the party itself, and has led to some memorable moments.

Because of the episodic nature of the campaign and our unreliable schedules, we tend to leave more open-ended roleplaying scenes for a chatroom in discord instead of roll20 so we can all get a chance to post. I doubt any of those will get mentioned in the GM's storytimes, but those scenes tend to be my favorite. If you're interested I could fill you in on the character-centered parts of the game, since the storytimes tend to gloss over those?
>>
>>56755770
Hey man, addendum storytime is good by me. We largely don't get much view of the characters as individuals, so getting some of that would help the "Audience" to relate to whats going on. As the screencap anon, i can at least attempt to get it in a screenshot.

>shoggoth monster girls
Here's the character token he used for Tinti, for the record.

Where should I even start with these storytimes? Should I start at the beginning and just introduce the characters themselves from a player's perspective, and work my way up? I can't guarantee there won't be some player bias working here, but I'd be otherwise happy to give a more in-depth character retelling.
>>
>>56756147
Oh shit, i just remembered he used that token.

and yeah, thats the shoggoth monster girl from monster girl encyclopedia.

As for where to start, the beginning is fine. I'd also say which character you are up front, just so we get a clear understanding of your bias' up front.
>>
Well it's time for Kansainons crazy late storytime. I have work in about seven hours technically but that should be more than enough time to write this up. I've drunk my tea so lets get this show on the roll.

Our Demon Hunting heroes have now officially nipped in the bud two of the three problems that have been plaguing the society which leaves only one. Securing and protecting the cities leylines. The entire crew was present and were drafting plans when an explosion shocks the area outside the compound. The magical barriers that are protecting the building are going on the fritz and the immediate area outside the society is decimated.

The team rushes outside to see the devistation accompanied by Furiten and the other mage on the team Mei-ling. The street is in ruins, no doubt the government will try and cover this up as a [Gas Leak] but this reeks of the supernatural. There are dead certainly but a few of the bodies don't even look like they were hit by the explosion. Looking closer there appears to be at least three craters in the ground. Ito deduces this must be the work of invisible enemy Kaiju. Furiten feels around in the dirt and confirms the magical nature of this attack and comments that it's too damn early for this.
>>

By chance Mei-ling had two familiars up and patrolling at the time and manages to track down one of them, a little blue bird. She pets it on the head and it transmogrifies into some kind of a screen which plays back the events. The image is choppy, we are talking 240p choppy but the crew can sort of make it out.

What appears on the video is some kind of cloaked figure appearing in the streets raising his arms in the air as what appears to be three meteors appear from some kind of circle in the sky and crash into the ground. Smoke and dust is kicked up but those things weren't meteors as is apparent when from one of the craters a figure emerges. A bandaged blue skinned figure cutting down people with a blade while another black blur savages others. The third figure is hard to make out as it unleashes a shock of white light which takes out the familiar-cam.

There were some active threats now that needed to be dealt with but where to start? The video didn't give them a lot to go off, Furiten offhandedly comments that the blue figure looked almost like a zombie. To which Ito immediately deduces that the best place to look would be the nearest graveyard. Furiten is surprised and pretends that he was going to make that suggestion himself. To Ito these things had been messing around in HIS territory and he would have to take them out. Jumping on his motorcycle he yells "-10 points to whoever gets there last" before speeding off.

Naturally Ito makes it there first and the place is as quiet as a graveyard. He makes his way in when he is attacked from behind by the blue skinned figure: Enemy Captain "Nanatsume". Ito manages to roll out of the way from the attack and chastises the creature for sneak attacking. Nanatsume floats down on the ground and sticks her katana in the earth saying two words that cause her blade to glow: [Dangerous Zombie]. From six graves, six beings that appear identical to Nanatsume rise up from the ground. Our orange haired protagoni was sorely outnumbered, still he readies his blade and Nanatsume asures him that when she is done with him he'll be Seven feet under.

Now I am going to break from the story here to point out something that might be obvious to maybe a few of you. Nanatsume's art was ripped directly from the Monster Girl Encyclopedia, if you don't know what the MGE is it's a collection of monster girls detailing their exploits in a rather textbook fashion apparently. Now I didn't know I had pulled this art from there because I was using Gelbooru to dig assets up, this doubly backfires on me and you will see why later. Back to the story

Ito is of course out numbered but manages to force a 1v1 between himself and the Main Nanatsume while the remaining six repeatedly fire energy bursts at him in a stationary position. He manages to land an off center blow onto her. The rest of the crew finally arrives in time and the Onigata limo literally drifts into the scene. Now the real fight starts.
>>
>>56756759
Ito was focusing on tackling the main threat but was getting peppered by the bolts, he had been nimbly avoiding them but if he were to take even a single blow from all six connecting at once he'd be toast, which means that Akira (F), Shizune, Jagasaki, Futaba and Taro were on clone capping duty.

Akira manages to land a stunning combination on one of the other Nanatsumes and instantly K.O's it... and then it gets back up like nothing happened. There is something that is keeping the zombies from staying down. They eventually figure out that the Nanas are standing on their graves and are not moving from them so the only correct course of action here is to desecrate those graves. With the connection between grave and zombie severed the clone nanas fall much easier, however as one falls it's power is siphoned into the main Nanatsume. For every dead zombie she recovers a portion of her health and can now make an extra attack, but the more that die the more she can actually feel pain.

The crew was ripping into these zombies, Taro recieved a huge buff because Futaba managed to get her hands on the bound primal enhancing items so he was just beasting through these things, she also now had a gun instead of a magical implement which worked much better. Ito was still focused on main girl Nanatsume while the crew managed to take out the remaining clones. At this point Nanatsume is making seven attacks at a time and Ito manages to survive with some clutch rolls. With the the clones defeated that means that the team can focus fire down in an all out attack. Everyone gets solid hits in and Futaba shoots her straight through the chest, Nanatsume falls on one knee clutching her blade and she yields.

Nanatsume isn't really in a position to really yield but she is pretty battered and beaten. They demand to know what her deal is. On Nanatsumes neck is a red seal, she takes her hand and claws at it and it stops glowing for the time being. Shizune grabs the girls head in a despotic manner and moves it to inspect her neck and performs analysis on it. It looks like some kind of commandmant seal which has been temporarily disabled by the girl clawing at it. For the time being Nanatsume was not compelled to continue to slash at the group but it would not last long. Shizune takes some time and manages to dispel the mark and it runs off her skin in a red swirl.

Nanatsume owed them big time, they had severed her connection between her and her former master. Her former master being the cloaked figure who had called them in from the sky to unleash havoc on the streets. She revealed as much as she knew about her former master, a magus by the name of Ciero. At some point in the past Ciero had bridged the gap between the realm where Nanatsume is from and the realm of humans and had found a way to subjugate the populace. The beings from this world are what people from earth could call Aramitama. While Aramitama can manifest naturally on earth, when beings from the other realm appear they act as magnets for negative emotion warping them and turning them into monsters. She describes her realm as two sides of the same coin, her world being on the "Reverse" side.
With nobody left to serve she pledges to serve as a retainer to everyones surprise. There is a lot of "You really don't have to" but Nanatsume insisted not serving a liege lord is a great dishonor to her and her people. The group is unsure about what to do when Shizune offhandledly shouts that Ito should be her new master, Ito immedietly declines on account of not wanting his brains munched, though given that this is Ito there is not that much sustinance to be gained from such an act.
The group tells her that who she wishes to serve is entirely up to her on account that they can't tell her just not to serve, she thinks about this and decides to serve all of them

As far as what Ciero has planned for Osaka, it's not entirely clear. Her commands were on a very need to know basis but she knew that there was to be one attack while the remaining Aramitama would regroup and reconvene in the next few days.

This marks the end of the session, the writing might be a little shaky on my point because I haven't written anything in a while. Back to the earlier addendum I added during the start of the Nanatsume fight. I mentioned her art was taken from the MGE. Now believe it or not, I actually haven't read the MGE. Nanatsume acts more or less exactly as her MGE counterpart would act (minus feeding on human spirit), so I completely unintentionally not only ripped art from one such place but also the characters mannerisms and personality. Though at this point, the ribbing from players has empowered me and if i'm going to rip art from such a place i'm going to do it with pride.

That might be the end of the session but I believe there was a side session that followed almost immediately after which i'll cover after work, hopefully if the thread is still up.

Righto. So I'll put it on the table for everyone reading this as part of a screencap (thank you kindly screencap anon), I'm a player for the isekai GM's campaign and I play Ruth. Apologies if I tend to dwell on that character because of this, but I'll try to stay impartial. Aside from that, I'm just going to introduce the characters in the order the players introduced them. Without further ado:

Chen Su
"She's always got a smile on her face, and is always the first to help someone out if she's around. Don't let her see you frown, because she *will* pounce on your sorrow. She writes a lot of fluff pieces for the school newspaper, generally revolving around how someone is helping the community even in the smallest ways, but she also had that one interview where she got a local businessman to admit he was mistreating his employees and getting away with it.

Also, she's that weird religion nut that lives out in the woods with her mobster grandma and that guy that was almost certainly a serial killer." - Su's character notes

The party healer and beacon of positivity, Su lost a lot of weight and gained a lot of height after stepping through the isekai portal. She is *very* religious and quotes Buddhist teachings constantly, and she works for the school newspaper. As it turns out there's actually some drama going on there, as the current lead journalist wants to essentially turn the school newspaper into the next Buzzfeed to sell more copies and keep their funding, while Su herself is fighting to keep the paper's integrity. We've met a few of her friends, specifically a VERY SERIOUS policeman named PATRICK JONES who's essentially Axe Cop, and a retail employee who works at Su's favorite icecream shop and yearns for the sweet embrace of death. Haven't met her family yet, but apparently she's got mixed feelings about her home life. She loves food, specifically offering it to people.

YAY!
I was not expecting to get more of this kind of description of the PCs. this is wonderful.
>>

did she lose weight? or did she simply gain a lot of height without putting on any weight? height normally adds weight so if a heavy person gets a lot of height put on them without gaining weight they will end up much skinnier.

Ruth 'Ruthless' McKillen
"Towering above her classmates and even some teachers with an eternal frown, Ruthless earned her nickname and violent reputation after sending nearly half of the school judo team to the nurse's office during her first days at Manzanar High. Ever since, she's been marked as a person to be avoided by her classmates and teachers, and judging by the unspoken peace-treaty between her and the rest of the class she intends to keep it that way. Ruthless has been known to frequently terrorize the auto club out of money despite this, and as of yet nobody's been man enough to stop her.

Daily packed lunch consists of a t-bone steak and protein shake." - Ruth's character notes

Contrary to universal belief, Ruth's quiet nature is due to being terrified of other people despite wanting to make friends, and the few words she does speak tend to be comically misunderstood. Stepping through the isekai portal only extrapolated this problem as she turned into a literal monster, but due to a very unfortunate mental link with the party she's incapable of hiding anything she thinks, so they are painfully aware of how nervous she really is. All the time. She thinks engines are cool and wants to join the auto club, but keeps accidentally extorting them for money instead, so she doesn't belong to a club at the moment. In combat she's notable for taking hits for her allies and accomplishing literally nothing else.

Hayate Kastsuo
"The class delinquent, Hayate rarely shows up for school and unofficially left the kendo cube by not attending that regularly either, though he was quite good. When he does show up he’s often sleeping on his desk or staring out the window. Despite his lack of attendance, his grades are passable. He isn’t very social but not rude either. He’ll talk to people about most things but doesn’t talk about himself." - Hayate's character notes

The most mysterious of all, Hayate stepped through the isekai portal to discover absolutely nothing happened to him, appearance-wise. We later discovered he apparently possesses two souls which lets him manifest two Godforged Regalias (a fact evidently thought to just be myth even amongst Guardians like us), and he has a capacity for spiritual energy that nobody has found a limit to yet. His job in combat is to walk very slowly towards the enemies and swing his kendo stick once when he gets there, and then the combat is over. The kendo club and the softball club at school are at war with each other to convince Hayate to join their respective clubs, and he wants nothing to do with either. He's also attracted a small posse of girls that are similarly trying to get the attention of the coolest guy in school/isekai land, and he wants nothing to do with that either. We don't know much about him except he probably(?) has a lot of baggage at home. Pretty chill guy though.
>>
>>56759125
>In combat she's notable for taking hits for her allies and accomplishing literally nothing else.
That's a shame. I like the idea of her ability the most.
>>
>>56759637
It's not for lack of trying, she just falls flat in the offense department compared to the ones who are highly geared for it. Plus her high armor tends to lean her towards lower initiative, so the two strikers in the party tend to mop up most everything before she gets close. She cleans up the occasional mook if it's been softened up, but her major contribution in combat is being a punching bag.

Ryuko Inari
"Ryuko is the new girl in town. Few folks know anything concrete about her, though she has had a very few small shows at recent conventions or gatherings. She's been dressed up, though, so no one's really sure if that was her or her sister or her cousin or if she really is from Japan or the Netherlands or the mysterious land of the East Coast.
Rumors abound, though." - Ryuko's character notes

Ryuko is a pop idol in training, and also the new girl in class. Plus the prettiest girl in class, so she's already pretty popular. She trains at the mall with her group of other wannabe pop idols, and we actually had an entire episode dedicated to shopping at the mall so we had a chance to meet them all in person. One of her fellow idol students looks up to her as oneesan, the other seems to hate Ryuko with every fiber of her being and hides it behind thinly-veiled insults and biting remarks. There's been hints of way more baggage at home, but nothing confirmed yet, which seems to be an ongoing pattern with the party. When she stepped through the isekai portal she sprouted fox ears and a tail and got an adorable outfit to boot, followed by a small harem of noble princes that are all pining for her attention. Surprisingly, Ryuko is incredibly bloodthirsty when it comes to people who endanger her friends, sometimes disproportionately so. Her role in combat is to fly across the battlefield and punch very, very hard, oftentimes singing to power herself up beforehand. Usually nice, but has a hair-trigger temper with subjects she's touchy about. Not part of any club yet due to being new to the school.

Honestly kind of sad to hear. I guess that's just an issue of how this game is focused on hyper-aggression. Have you ever gotten to put Ruth's power to good use?
>>
>>56760083
The power to spin things? Sadly not for much, as those abilities only apply in the real world rather than isekai land where most of the campaign takes place. She practices with it at home to get a better understanding of how it works, and has taken to using it to wrap her bandages in the morning, but generally is too nervous to try using it for anything more worthwhile.

The power difference is sad, but it's at least lent itself towards some good roleplaying. Ruth's been at the low end of the power curve for a while, so she's been looking for ways to keep up with the party in the form of masters in isekai land to train her, notably Tinti. There have been mixed results, and Ruth is currently kicked out of the mansion until further notice.

Reiyou Mori
"Reiyou 'Rei' Mori is a somewhat jumpy, timid yet helpful and polite boy. He doesn't get the best grades, but he's definitely above average. He seems to always try his best even when others would think it's unnecessary, and is very diligent. Rei gets decent results in physical education, despite only being 165 cm tall and being on the lean side. He has a tendency to care too much about other people and tries to help others if he thinks he can. Part of the Community Volunteering Club. Despite this, he can still come off as a stammering, awkward dork at times, so most people might think he's kind of a loser.

A master of showing up on time to class at the last second." - Rei's character notes

Rei is the last character in the ensemble, and he's definitely not affiliated with any superhero manga series. On a completely unrelated note, stepping through the isekai portal didn't change his physical appearance, but did give him a superhero costume. Like his character notes describe, he's part of the school's community volunteer club, which is composed of a few gung-ho characters we didn't quite have the time to get to know very well but they seemed like a quirky bunch. Rei's role in combat is to run as fast as possible and hit as hard as possible at the expense of his own HP, and he generally craters enemies if he doesn't die first. His mom works at the mall and his dad was strangely absent when we visited there, with hints to some drama in that direction. We lately discovered that he's been using his power in the real world to moonlight as a vigilante, beating up beatniks and mopping muggers while dressed in a mysterious green rabbit-eared costume under the cover of night.

I will never understand this mentality. You have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience an anime-style world crafted just for you, where you even get to inject your own crazy OC ideas into the mix, and instead you just copy/paste an existing character from a popular series. Down to the mannerisms and iconic fighting style, everything but the name tag swapped out. I'm genuinely disappointed.

If I usurp this player, do I inherit his spot in the game? Your campaign and group looks like so much fun to play with.

The power seems to be vaguely defined, and she has yet to learn the ropes of all of its stipulations, though the GM has assured that it does have defined rules to it. It seems to work easier if the object itself is already on an existing axis, like turning a car's wheels or an action figure's arms, but she's also managed to (accidentally) create whirlwinds and flip a desk upside-down. It mostly works if she's touching the object in question, but sometimes it happens even if she's not? She does know that, for example, if she concentrates on making a toy top spin on a table, no amount of physical effort will make it *stop* spinning until she stops concentrating on it.

To answer your question, Ruth's best guess is that once she exerts her power on an object it will try to spin on an existing axis, but she can have some leeway on where that rotational axis is. It seems to work on individual parts or whole objects equally, though.

The feeling is complicated. Ruth herself is exempt from the slavery part of being a darkstalker due to being a Guardian, and she's not the first darkstalker Guardian either. The ones before her, while not revolutionaries, all helped the race in some way-- one of the first apparently forced the world's decision to have darkstalkers be slaves in the first place, whereas the alternative was culling them en masse once their job in the war they were created for was over. Other ones fought for allowance of basic rights, or laws that enforced housing or rudimentary education. Certain darkstalkers work for the kingdom instead of a direct master, usually serving as teachers or heads of the slave houses. Pretty much every darkstalker Guardian has historically been a stepping stone for the race being treated a little less horribly, but to Ruth's knowledge none of them had made the leap to fighting for freedom. The one just before Ruth got rid of darkstalker child slavery, though. Apparently the entire race is looking at her to fill the shoes of her predecessors, which terrifies her.

All of her friends have a pretty knee-jerk reaction to the idea of slavery and get pretty defensive of Ruth whenever someone brings it up, but Ruth herself is trying to figure out what to feel about it. So far her standing opinion is that it's a bad thing but that she's still a stranger to this world and doesn't really have a right to say how it should work yet. She's been trying to listen to a lot of stories around town to figure out what it means to be a darkstalker. The most basic story is of the evil Mad Maker who created the darkstalkers to begin with, the Broodmother who was the mother of all the original darkstalkers, and the Teacher, sister of the Broodmother, who gave the darkstalkers teachings and fought for them to exist after the war.

Apologies for my habit of rambling, but more in the next post. The slavery issue has actually become a really big topic for the PCs.
>>
>>56769019
The ongoing party joke is that Ruth's true power is using heelies to escape her feelies. Ruth herself thinks the power is kinda useless, especially in comparison to the other members of the party. She does have a bike, though, and wiped out plenty of times trying to work her power on it while riding. I'd be up for suggestions on other ways to test it, since I'm not sure of all of the rules it follows yet nor all of the practical ways a highschooler could make use of it.

most internal combustion engine vehicles are ultimately driven by the rotational energy put into the crankshaft(s).

If not they they are gas turbines run by the rotation of the turbo stages.
>>
>>56769147
so are you able to put torque on things that can't rotate? or does the power allow you to put rotational power only into things that can freely rotate?

like can you tear down trees by trying to make them rotate and causing them to break since their bottom is stuck in the ground with roots?
or would the ground heave and shift and start to flow away until there spinning of the battered roots had forces the ground outward enough to give them a free path to spin?

I'm now imagining a field of holes and battered trees spinning in place like dying yet still perfectly performing marionettes.

It's fucking creepy.

So Dark Hunter A and Time Wizard A seem to be the two mobility classes.

What are the important differences in the kinds of mobility they offer and how does that effect what kind of high mobility characters each is best optimized for?

Also if you make a character who is Dark Hunter A/Time Wizard A (or the other way around) do the power play off of and enhance eachother well, or do they get in eachother's way or end up giving you redundant options when taken together?
>>
>>56770668
From what i can tell, Dark hunter A personally increases speed within the space of your turn. Things like removing limitations, increasing how much you can move, and messing with the enemy directly via attacks.

Time Wizard, on the other hand, focus' on initiative fuckery, which happens outside of the purview of your "Turn". their first skill is Unique, causes a little damage to yourself, but allows people to go much faster in the turn order, potentially destroying an enemy before it can act. They can also affect another person, rather than just the time wizard. For example, chronos traitor can be used to make yourself go first, then to use Blink move to allow someone else to move out of the way of something.

The only things that would be redundant would be shadow freerun and triple aria, since freerun would more or less make triple aria irrelevant. Besides this specific effect, I could see the two bouncing off of eachother very well, though your actual damage output would be somewhat lacking unless you pour some resources into raising it via weapons. Your job with these two classes, is to essentially negate the enemies ability to act, moving targets out of the way and preventing attacks from happening.

>causes a little damage to yourself

Rather, to whoever the effect is put on.
>>
>>56770903
can you tell me how well Arc Slayer A and Legion A play off each others, and how much they get in eachother's way?
>>
>>56771565
Surprisingly, the two bounce off eachother fairly well, if you take specific talents. Arc slayer has a higher focus on actively dealing damage and using spirit dice, while Legacy user A has a ton of unique effects with no cost. Some of them are 1/combat, but even then they offer a wide variety. On top of this, you get your godforged regalia weapon, which CAN be used for arc slayer talents, meaning there's no issue there.

The two match up better than you would originally assume, and there's very little overlap so far as dice or mechanics go. Legacy user also helps out arc slayer actively by using its Spirit inversion talent to make even numbered die into whatever is needed to activate a talent via Overflow dice.

Overall, they mesh rather well.

Thank you for the assessment.

However, I asked about how Arc Slayer A and Legion A play off each others, and how much they get in eachother's way.

Not how Arc Slayer A and Legacy User A do.
>>
>>56772013
Well fuck. Guess i got brain problems. Gimme a sec to look into it and i'll get back to you on that.

Still, I learned something with Legacy A and Arc slayer, so it wasn't pointless.
>>
>>56772030
Okay, i'm back after reading through Legion A.

So from what i can tell, They would actually match up very well, for much the same reasons legacy user A would. They provide potentially devastating alternative modes of attack. Almost all the talents can be used with melee weapons, with the exception of Ranged Weapon Proficiency and Combat maneuver unless your melee weapon doesn't force you to be engaged to use it.

In all honesty, due to those two talents, Legion A helps ranged attackers more than it does melee, but the rest of the style can be of great use to an Arc slayer. The only issue i can see arising is the need for a large quantity of even dice for some of the talents, which can overlap with Arc slayers need for 4's. You will probably want a spirit fixer talent if you plan to do this.

One thing i did notice though, and that nothing i can see contradicts, is that you can use target assessment to increase the target number of your weapon for a short period, then focused fire to reduce it back down to 1 target, gaining up to +9 on your damage, albeit at the cost of -3 to the accuracy check.

In a recent episode we explored the topic a little more in-depth, as the party was on the run from what appears to be an endless army of military ninjas that doesn't want to take chances with the whole "only one of us is supposed to be the real Guardian and the rest are betrayers" theory and just wants to put us all down before we got powerful enough to go turncoat. Not sure when the GM's storytime will cover that, since we just finished that multiple-session-long episode yesterday. Anyway, at one point the party was given an opportunity to escape by some friendly smoke bombs, and ended up hiding in one of the darkstalker slave houses where children were raised.

Evidently the theme of the episode was that each of the five Guardians had a different populace of people that was hoping *their* Guardian would be *the* Guardian, since history has shown that only one Guardian has ever stepped through the isekai portal at a time, and everyone else who tries ends up going grimdark. In Ruth's case it was the darkstalkers, who thought/hoped that Ruth would be the 'true' Guardian. She sat and listened to some stories, learned about the origin story in the last post, and discovered that the darkstalkers seem to be pretty okay with their lot in life. Also learned tragic backstories, like a shy little medusa girl who turned her mother to stone when she was born and had to be raised by a gargoyle.

Ruth at one point made the mistake of asking what fictional stories darkstalkers liked to tell, and they looked at her like she was an alien, evidently having no concept of happy fairy tales. This led to Ruth, terrified of public speaking, being crowded by an entire house of monster orphan kiddies expectantly looking to their Guardian to tell them a story. To this day it's probably my personal favorite scene in the campaign, and it ended on a really heartwarming note.

>Also learned tragic backstories, like a shy little medusa girl who turned her mother to stone when she was born and had to be raised by a gargoyle.

Y'know, you say thats tragic, but the kids mother was probably pretty proud that her kid was so capable so early.

Uplifting Fiction is a powerful gift.

>>56772794
...well? What was the story? You can't just say it was a heartwarming scene, motherfucker, you got me interested, you got me hooked. What happened?
>>
>>56772794
please story time this occurrence. start when everyone got into hiding among the dark stalkers or later, or whenever you feel is best since your the one who is actually telling the story of this event and I have no idea how much happened between when the party got into hiding and when Ruth was put into the position of telling a story for the whole slave quarter.

My learning journey continues!

Roll20 was a bit simpler than I had imaged, though with the free stuff handed, I'm sure none of my boards will be spectacular. I only need now is to learn the Kamigakari rules and battle test the system.

Okay wide awake now, lets knock this last part out of the park because the thread is nearing the end.
So at this point Nanatsume is now a loyal retainer to the party and is currently staying in Futaba's hotel (Not really helping the MGE image here). She gets her first set of orders, to come to Osaka Station at 2pm and wear a jacket, she was also given a crude map with a set of directions. She arrives and her mind races with thoughts of orders. Would they have her strike headfirst at an enemy stronghold or maybe she would help perform a tea ceremony for a visiting lord. She was ready to strike at a moments notice when she came across Akira (M). Akari adresses Nanatsume casually asking how she is and wondering if Futaba hasn't been slavedriving her.

Nanatsume only knows Akira as a woman so to hear one of her masters slandered in such a way is a great insult. She warns the man not to speak ill of her and readies to draw. Akira switches voices and assures her who he is. It took a solid moment of connecting the dots but Nanatsume understood and immediately got on her hands and knees and begged forgiveness for her rudeness. Akira asks her to not be so formal especially because other people shop here. She gets up and asks the boy what her mission is. She assures him that she can achieve any task he would set out, she would smite his enemies with deadly precision. Akira tells her the plan is to get her new clothes to replace what she is wearing, in Akira's words: "No offense Nana-san, but you look halfway between a terrifying undead warrior and a strung-out stripper. We need to class you up so people don't look at you funny if you take that jacket off. I bet we can find something nice if you give modern fashion a chance. C'mon,"

About this time Shizune arrives. She had a rough night, full moon made Jagasaki go on the fritz and she lost control of her familiars so those birds chased her all the way to the train. She is holding a big bag and from that bag she hands over to Nanatsume a big oversized t-shirt with Peko-chan on the front. She can't be walking around wearing bandages for the time being and asks her to endure this. She also worked a bit of magic to turn her usual blue skintone to a more 'alive' shade. She wore the rediculous shirt with a pride of a warrior, it was big enough that it sort of functioned as a skirt at the same time.

Akira comments that it's weird that Futaba hasn't shown up yet but the shopping trip could officially start. Nanatsume vows to make this this safest shopping trip in the world, the only way this could be safer is if Shizune and Akira were wearing protective helmets and vests. Shizune notices Akiras current state of dress and says that they are shopping for girls clothes and she expected Akira to dress more like a girl but she stops short of saying girl and dismisses the thought. Akira pretends to be a little upset at Shizune questioning that a guy can't have fashion sense. The two talk between themselves about what clothes to get. Concealing clothes? Casual? Akira asks Nana if she has underwear so they can prioritize what to get. Like a proverbial orange storm, Ito arrives at clearly the worst and most awkward part of the conversation. He was doing some 'grocery shopping'

Nanatsume bows and welcomes Ito-dono before deftly turning to Akira and saying that she wears a Fundoshi incredibly politely and formaly. Underwear can wait and Akira suggests getting casual clothes first. Ito notices Nanatsumes state of dress and tells her that she needs proper gang colours to show her affiliation.

Yeah, roll20 is actually stupid simple once you get down to it.

I'd suggest running one of the premades if you wanna learn the system as it should be played. Start with how you should do things, then branch out, and all that.

Nanatsume is confused. Is she in a gang now? At last an oppertunity to put her blade to good use. Ito wants to dress her up like a punk to help her look more gang like and less as he puts it dumpster divey and chastises Akira for wanted to get his hands on underwear. Akira comments that maybe Shizune wants Nana to join her gang (The Ghost Glasses Gang that consists of only Shizune and Jagasaki and is not sanctioned by either). Somehow to conversation gets a bit heated onto the age old arguement of: Tits vs Ass. Shizune whisks Nanatsume away and she flails a bit because she can't protect everyone if they're all seperated. Shizune tells her that they are big boys and can handle themselves.

The plan is to get something modern, she asks her what her cup size is to which Nana replies with: What's a cup size? It's going to be a long day. The two go out into Osaka station and shop for clothes and underwear. The trial is arduous and perhaps it would have been quicker if they went from the largest sizes down to the smallest to guess the measurements. In the end they get Nana a nice set of clothes that help her fit in. She goes for black undergarments so that even if nobody can see them she'll still represent the Ito gang, which gets the biggest of sighs. The ammount comes up to about 3500 yen at the cashier, that's not too much Shizune thinks as she gets out her wallet and looks inside it as a poof of dust comes out. Shizune was the poorest member of the group and she had just rememered that fact, he face is that of stone as Nana asks if there is a problem with the most innocent of expressions. As if ordained by fate itself, our resident love hotel heiress arrives in the nick of time to save them with a big wad of cash.

Elsewhere Ito and Akira are making a toast: To boobs!

And that does it for that session.

Aw yeah, screencap anon back with more screencappy goodness.

Gonna start with kansaianon Storytime part 8, and then Ruth players testimony on the game. I'll edit that one as more details come up, if at all possible.
>>
>>56774477
Should i just make this part 8.5?
>>
I went to bed, slept for an hour and woke up. I'm too sleepy to read straight. I hope this thread is up later today when I've gotten more sleep or enough drugs in my system to read good again
>>
>>56774538
Thats why i make the storytime screencaps, so people who aren't able to read well at a time can just save em and read it later.
>>
>>56774538
you know we've got screen-cap anon and someone's been submitting the threads with storytime to sup/tg/ right?

http://suptg.thisisnotatrueending.com/archive.html?tags=Kamigakari

I think you're covered.
>>
>>56774494
8.5 is probably accurate, It was a short side session that took place directly after in the the story. I gotta say I appreciate you taking that time screencappo-san
>>
>>56774383
That's the intent! The sooner I can get an understanding and make a couple of boards, the better!
>>
>>56774666
Don't try to be too fancy. One big issue a lot of newer GM's to roll20 have an issue with is trying to be too fancy. You don't need a map for every single thing. Keep it simple, especially when towns are involved. you don't need a detailed map for every city or town, you just need a backdrop to give the idea of what it looks like.
>>
>>56774643
No problem. Its not like it actually takes me a long time to make. More often than not its an issue of making sure i have all the posts, and the names help a lot with that.
>>
>>56774697
And here it is. With only 3 posts and little issue, i made that shit in like, a minute flat.

Is it time for a new thread?

Oh jeez, I didn't expect anyone would actually want to hear that, but I can give an actual storytime a try if you'd really like? The thread's hit its bump limit though, so I'm not sure if I would be able to finish it here. Should I wait until the next thread?
>>
>>56774785

>>56774778
There seems to be enough activity for a new thread, so if we really want it, i can put up a new thread
>>
>>56774778
Yeah but like, for some of us storytime is the main reason we visit.
>>
>>56774809
Well, thats not a good attitude to take. Storytime should inspire you to try the system, and make stories of your own. Keep the cycle going, and all that.

DO IT!
>>
>>56774785
You're damn right I want a storytime of your character's storytime. Gimme that adorable cocaine.
>>
>>56774822
Well yeah. But first I gotta get into a work schedule where I can commit to a time instead of not knowing what my shifts are going to be 4 days ahead of time.

Well it's a sort of japanese thing involving spirits and the full moon, more than likely he got pretty tempermental and demanded a lot of ice cream being all out of characterly needy
>>
>>56774879
Its not even just a japanese thing. Cultures the world over have various oddities that occur during the full moon.
>>
>>56774945
Wait, we had that many dubs and trips? Fuckin hell
>>
>>56774976
>~320 posts
>10% chance for dubs
>exactly 32 gets
Seems about right.
>>
>>56774997
Y'know what, fair enough
>>
>>56774997
i think the math is more complicated than that in terms of the speeds of other threads effecting things but that could be my lack of sleep coming to the fore in my attempts to math.
>>
>>56775164
Nah, you'd be correct. The more other threads there are, the less the chances of any one thread having dubs or trips. More active ones will have a better chance since they go through post numbers more quickly as well.

A slow moving thread like ours would have the lower end of the spectrum on getting dubs or trips, so the actual chance is probably less than 10%
