Thermal Masking - Cooling and Cooperative Heating units provide a comfortable environment for the wearer as well as hiding them from thermal imaging.

Automatic hacking - Placing a palm will begin an automatic hacking process. The carnivore program will indescribably begin to download copies of the data and provide you an option to destroy the original upon completion. You are unable to search for any specific data.

Air Tight - The suit is fully sealed and gas tight providing pri=otection from harmful elements as well as enabling EVA operations. The complexity of the suit makes it harder to use after prolonged use and will eventually begin to complicate the wearers motor functions.

Small Arms Protection - The suit's polymer is capable of deflecting the most average civilian small arms. Up to date military gear is capable of penetrating or causing damage from kinetic force.

Advanced Helmet Systems - Enables encrypted communications, provides a basic Heads-Up-Display, Thermal sensors, Night Vision, and motion detectors

>Without Further Ado...
You make your way back towards the repair center. You crouch low and slide the keycard through its slot. The moment before it pings in confirmation you spring into action and when its half open you're already fully through and hugging against the back of a terminal. The number of insurrectionist in the repair center have lowered slightly. They now stand at the modest number of ten. You see a small group of them climb up a set of stairs on the right side of the room and leave through a door marked;

MOTOR POOL

The rest of the workers either idly hover over a terminal or make small talk regarding events on the planet.

"You saw the game last night?"
"Ravagers never stood a damn chance."
"Wonder how long we're going to be staying here?"
'Why leave? We got it good."
"I miss Kane."

You largely filter out their talking while you examine the door. Jimmy didn't mention this place at all, or it just escaped his mind. There's also the chance that he simply didn't know about it. You didn't get the impression that he was a smart man. You look at the keycard in your hand and back to the door.

You could probably tear your way into the room with enough time. It definitely won't be quiet. You'd have to take out everyone in the room first. You survey the area around it looking for some structural flaw or exploitable feature. You notice a series of vents at the top of the room. They lead towards the staircase you entered into and another trail towards the reactor room. It might be a tight fit but you should be able to get through. Hopefully.

Speaking of the reactor room, you did see some power tools in there. They might expedite any entrance you decide to make, or you can try to cut your way into the room.

Just when I was gonna kill the quest
Settling on infiltrating via the vents you stealthily move back towards the reactor room without raising a fuss. You follow the vents and eventually make it back where the worker lockers reside. After a quick check to ensure Jimmy is still out you jump up and grab onto the vents one handed. With your other hand, you work on prying and twisting the screws out of place. It takes you some time but soon you're inside the cramped spaces of the vents.

You begin crawling your way back to the utility center, helmet and weapons scraping against the vent noisily. The noise is loud enough that you try to make your frame smaller and move at a slower pace reducing the noise. When you reach a section with the vanes blocking your way you simply bend and break them out the way and continue to the center.

Here you slow down, even more, to avoid alerting anyone to your presence while listening to their conversations.

"Alright so here's what you gotta do. Replace the tires, check the engine, and ensure that the ammo belt is properly connected."
"Just smack it a couple of times."
"Yes, tell Mich to twist counter-clockwise... I SAID COUNTER!"
"Hmm. Temperatures too high. Watch out Terry you might burn yourself."
"Where's the plasma cutter?"

The voices all speak at once while you can hear an undercurrent of typing, scribbling on paper, and the crackle of communications. It seems they've gone back to work.

>>
Soon you stand by the entrance to the supposed secret room. Instead of a vane, there's nothing but an empty vent corner. Crawling into it you begin pressing against it looking for vulnerabilities. Unfortunately, it appears to be just a simple vent. Willing your motion sensor into action and thermal imaging you're able to confirm that no one is ahead. With that knowledge, you pull out your combat knife and slam it into the vent. The high-grade blade easily pierces the vent and you begin slicing your way inside. After creating a breach you slowly remove it and peek into the room. You're currently inside a small empty bathroom. You drop down and peek through the door. Empty.

Pushing it open fully you walk into the room and look around.

It seems like you're in some kind of small reception room. A desk and table with terminal rest against a wall and the room is full of chairs, small tables, and potted plants. A cooler sits on a table and after a quick examination, you find it full of local alcoholic bottles. Strangely enough, there is no windows or any form of indication leading you to believe this room even exists in the conventional sense. Another smaller elevator rests on a wall. You investigate the panel next to it and it appears able to go up one floor and down two.

The screen displays before going dark once more and a series of folders, files, and logs burst onto the screen. Your eyes are immediately drawn to files labeled Map, Transmission FDM-05, and Assets. Most of them are logs of mining activity and workers. So you start with the map.

Accessing the file brings up the complete map of the complex. From the extensive and abandoned mines below, to the reactor, room, motor pool, and it's conjoined sections, all floors of this complex and the next. Your eyes scan through the levels until you notice the small space on the first floor of the right building. If your estimates are correct this is where you're currently located. You drag the map to the floor above and it's labeled as a bedroom. The floor two levels below are simply labeled as

THE VAULT

Closing the map you open the next file labeled Transmission FDM-05
FDM-05 : Was the operation successful?
RLEE : Munitions captured.
FDM-05 : Survivors?
RLEE : Never.
FDM-05 : Good work. The next transport should arrive in a week. Stay by for orders. Eridanus is only the beginning.
RLEE : Go with Kane

The transmission ends there and you access the next file labeled Assets.

With a simple thought, a red light replaces the previously blue light on your hand and a message flashes across your HUD

COMMENCING DATA PURGE...

You quickly reach a hand to your hip where your M7 Submachine gun rests, magnetically attached to you. Elements in the hand attracts the weapon and in the same motion it takes you to grab it you extend it and aim at the men.

One reaches for his rifle but a quick burst of bullets slam into his chest knocking him back. You shoot another burst and they penetrate his chest sending him towards the floor. The extreme sensitivity of the weapon's trigger often makes burst fire much more difficult and most people prefer to liberally spray and mow down enemies with the M7.

You're not most people.

You quickly aim your sights on the next man and with a quick burst the rounds find their way into his skull. Sending him to the floor even before he can react. The last man is much faster than his comrades. He holds the M6 up at you in both hands hoping to fire but you're much much quicker than him. You intended to go for another burst but the sight of his weapon in his hand push your instincts to survive and you end up unloading liberally into the insurrectionist.

PURGE COMPLETE

The men drop to the floor in near sync as you lower your gun. You reload your submachine gun and return it to your hip, magnets receiving the retracted weapon perfectly.

"Sir, Yes, Sir." You respond to the Admiral.

"Good. We will NOT speak on this again. Continue the good work. Johan out." Your connection to the ship cuts and you stand in the meeting room alone with three dead Insurrectionist at the door to the secret room.

Ignoring the bodies you leave the now empty terminal and stepping over your shell casings towards the elevator. Opening the door you enter and locate a hatch and drop into the shaft. You fall for quite some time before you grab onto a maintenance rung and begin climbing your way down.

Eventually, you reach another elevator door and begin to pry your way in. When you finally get the door open you're greeted by the sight of numerous containers and safe boxes. Strangely enough none of them seem to be locked or have a key.

You start indiscriminately pulling the boxes out and examining their contents. Almost all of them seem to be full to the brim with valuable metals and credits. Halfway through searching them you decide to stop and look for something more meaningful. You squeeze between the small space between the two walls of safe boxes. After a short moment, you arrive at a smaller room. Inside you see several more safe boxes each with fake I.Ds for several civilian, political, and military sectors. You also spot a single set of unmarked armor reminiscent of the ODSTs only lacking any significant markings. Near the back of the room rests a single container and you move to investigate.

The container is locked with a standard padlock which you easily bash off and open it. Inside the container is a bomb.

Not just any bomb of course.

It's a nuke.

The Fury tactical nuclear weapon is more akin to a nuclear grenade than it is a normal nuke. The power and absolute devastation it can carry for such a small size earns it its name. It is the size and shape of an over inflated football. Its yield has been stated to be slightly less than one megaton. The nuclear blast has been described as extremely clean and has a radius of about 1.3 kilometers.

This "grenade" could devastate an entire city, if not just several major quarters and sectors.

And it's in the hands of Insurrectionist

And ask what to do with the nuke. Perhaps ask permission to arm it.

If we can't arm it, plant our third C-12 charge here. It won't detonate the nuclear material properly, that's fine. It'll keep the nuke out of their hands well enough.

"Admiral" You immediately open a line to the ship. "We have a problem."

"What is it, Spartan?"

"The insurrectionist appear to be in possession of a Fury."

"GOD DAMNIT!" You hear a loud thump and more shuffling.

"Permission to arm the bomb sir?" You request. The fury would not only wipe the Loman facility off the face of Coryner it'll also expedite the mission as well as reducing risks.

"You have permission to arm the bomb Spartan! If those bastards think they can dig into our systems! Betray humanity! Then damn them! Damn each and every single one of those bastards souls to hell! They want to be angels so bad?! Then show them what a real Angel of Death is. You have your orders Spartan! Arm the bomb, link it to your systems and exfiltrate. Wipe that damn place and every single living being in it off the face of the earth!"

"Orders received. 032 out."

With your new orders received you examine the bomb closely and get to work.

"Hello?" Another man's voice breaks into your radio.

"This is 032 identify yourself."

"Ensign Tompson at your service, Sir. I have been allocated to you to assist with the arming of the Fury."

You use your combat knife to pry open a panel on the side of the bomb revealing the weapons innards.

"What are my instructions, Ensign?"

Following the advice of Ensign Tompson, you are successfully able to link the Fury to the detonator of your C-12 charges. The new purpose has effectively made the detonator unable to blow the charges but the Fury should more than makeup for it.

"Good work 032. Tompson out."

So are we the bad guys? Like, super evil gov. agency kind? What is a Spartan super-soldier, really? Like a gene'd up adrenaline junkie or what?
>>
>>49271809
>What is a Spartan super-soldier, really?
6 year olds kidnapped and trained to be the best soldiers possible, given powerful augmentations and sent out onto the field at around 18. They are basically supersoldiers, primarily of the special forces kind.

>So are we the bad guys? Like, super evil gov. agency kind?
ONI is essentially the CIA, but given massive military backing and so mired in top secret projects that they win out against the Umbrella Corporation for 'failure to participate in ethics class'

The UNSC, the faction we're working for, is the dominant human power. Sort of iffy regarding its colonial policies and essentially being a military junta, but good enough and the only real defense against the vast alien empire killing us all.
>>
>>49271809
At the age of 6 ONI kidnapped you and about 150 kids who passed genetic tests fitting to a super soldier blueprint.
You spent 8 years training
When you were 14 you underwent a officially painful procedure that turned you into something more than human
About 33 of the kids survived
You spent the next 2-ish years trying to get accustomed to your new body and here you are about to set off a nuke

Yeah. Most of this'll be explained IC next thread most like

Writing!

>rebels steal nukes with the intent to use them
>"Are we the bad guys?" asks anon

I know it's early in the morning but think about your question for a second.

As to your questions,
A Spartan is a bioengineered super soldier trained and modified for the purpose of high octane warfare on multiple fronts as per SPARTAN program protocols, more than that I can't say because I don't know how or if Mal has twisted or flavored things differently.

ONI is a shady organization at best, responsible for think tanking naval intelligence. Think CIA operating out of the borders of the U.S.A. but on the galactic stage, with greater than CIA government backing and lots of cool super secret projects.

We are the good guys because we're fighting for the greater good of humanity, military society notwithstanding.

A human with cybernetic and biochemical augmentations and wearing advanced power armor. It basically turns you into a killing machine.

The augmentations include metal-infused bones, massively increased height and muscle growth, superhuman reflexes, and night vision. They can also sync AIs into their brains to further assist them.
>>
>>49271923
Bad side of that is if we're constantly following orders to the letter then we'll be first pick on the ONI's harder missions. Also, while the acronym means Office of Naval Intelligence, ONI is also the Japanese word for demon or ogre depending on context. Just a mild hint there.
>>
>>49271969
>ONI is also the Japanese word for demon
Holy fuck for all the time I've played the Halo games I never realized this shit it's so fucking obvious.
My mind is blown.

You know that the Office of Naval Intelligence is an actual thing, albeit nowhere near the level of spookery Halo!ONI does?

I am well aware, but the original writer of the Ringworld series and subsequent Haloverse writers had boners for eclectic dual meanings inserted into literally everything from location names to operation strategies. Sometimes even up to three, and self-referencing a fourth in the case of a particular ship. IIRC, the Ringworld series was one of the bigger trains for encouraging this approach in both sci-fi and military fiction, including its inspirations.

Could just be over interpreting what isn't there, but where's the fun without that?

Standing up you start to stretch your limbs, preparing for what comes next. A smile forms on your face as you crack your neck. You then turn around and head back towards the elevator shaft. A quick climb has you pulling yourself out of the elevator shaft and into the elevator proper. As you stealthily climb back into the elevator you notice that the elevator doors are open.

And a frightened and disheveled man is staring right at you.

He opens his mouth to scream.

You close your hand around his throat and he coughs out his words as he flails against you. You then grab one of his arms and slam him into the wall of the elevator with all your might. The man slowly slides down the wall leaving a large trail of blood as you rush towards to the door. When you open it you quickly roll into cover. A measure that is made redundant by the general lack of men in the room. A skeleton crew monitors the area largely ignoring their duties and relaxing. Making your exit all the easier.

Soon you're running through the abandoned mine after scaling the ceiling once more. You push your comms and open a channel to Dagger 1-4.

"Dagger 1-4."

"Spartan, Sir!"

"I need evac."

"Already?" He whistles. "Damn, I knew you guys were good but... This is Dagger 1-4 to all channels moving to the evac zone. See you soon Sir."

You pick up your speed running as hard as you can. The last thing you want to do is to still be on the grounds when they discover the bodies. After several minutes you reach the destination provided for you by your HUD. The moonlight shines light through the exit and you quickly switch your night vision off as you break out into the open.

Dagger 1-4's SkyHawk's back compartment lies open to you, ramp barely off the ground.

"Need a ride?" The pilot's voice breaks through your comms and you jump into the back of the aircraft.

"Go subsonic." You order

"Roger that." You pull out the detonator an awfully small thing in your hands as you eye the complex.

The aircraft shakes briefly before the distance between you and the target rapidly lengthens.

100 Meters
300 Meters
640 Meter
800 Meter
1 Kilometer

You hold the detonator tightly

Your HUD flashes

SAFE DISTANCE REACHED

You press the detonator.

For quite some time there's nothing. Just a crisscrossing of canyon landscapes as far as the eyes can see. Then there's light. A bright painful light reminiscent of the sun. There's a sharp intact of air and close after it a large exhale like some god or demon took a monumental breath. First, there's the sound. A large boom and whooshing sound assaults your ears and shakes the cabin. The lower left side of the massive canyon is engulfed in light and then it blossoms out into a magnificent cloud of heat, energy, and fire. One that reaches ever further into the heavens as the ramp to the SkyHawk closes.

Mission Complete.

To be honest, and a little in spite of what the other anon said, I think it's better to run when you feel good and can pump out them posts with haste but not if you feel rushed.

Still, running more often is always a good idea.
