Last time, you spent the night with the Bahamutcorp rep on board the Cicero, one Irina Gaunt. It's a dangerous galaxy out there, and these little points of warmth and comfort are all a soldier has sometimes. After all, either of you could easily be dead tomorrow.

Is this one of those systems where you always max out your stats at character creation and build up skills later?
>>
>>49172767

Pretty much, yes.
>>
>>49172825
Ah, cool. Can we take over 16 Psyche and turn it into an invincible fortress?

Alright time to show those dirty Avalonians whose boss

You know, the more I see Amos, the more I wonder if Getter Robo's Musashi was one of his ancestors. Man went out like a champion.

You wake up groggy and a little hung-over, with all four of Irina's limbs tightly wrapped around you. She's hugging you like a body pillow, and seems perfectly content to lie there snoring against your shoulder while the alarm on your PC rings.

Still, she wakes up when you start sitting up, and kisses your cheek with eyes still full of sleep, "Hey, Amos...thanks for that. I meant it when I said there weren't any strings attached, but...if you ever want to...I'll leave my door open for you. We've both got a lot on our shoulders and could do with some stress relief." She smiles a little tentatively, touching your cheek.

You're not really sure what to say, "I should be thanking you, shouldn't I?" You manage, while she gets up and wanders into the bathroom, still naked.

"So long as we're both happy." You hear the sound of running water from behind the door, and she sticks her head out of the bathroom to wink at you, "I'd invite you in, but we'd be in here all day. Hurry up and get dressed, I'll see you at breakfast."

You do, indeed, see her at breakfast. She grabs a plate of flapjacks for each of you and settles into the seat next to you, "Blueberry pancakes today, Lin-Lin must have gone out shopping." She takes a contemplative bite of hers, "Mmm, I prefer chocolate, but these are good too. Eat up, we've got a lot to do today."

Garret, for once, is later to breakfast than you are. He...doesn't look well. His normally immaculate hair is a mess, his face is pale and slightly greenish. Death warmed over would be an appropriate way to describe him right now, but the warm part is in question. You don't see Simon.

Garret collects his food with a zombie's shuffling tread and lack of coordination. Something resembling light enters his eyes as he spots you and makes a beeline for your table, collapsing into the chair across from you and pouring coffee down his throat.

"Rough night?" You venture.

He holds up his other hand, drains his coffee completely, and fetches another one before he gives you enough attention to nod, "You wouldn't believe me if I told you."

"Where's Simon? He's not usually late." You're a little worried. Simon was supposed to be with Garret last night.

Garret grunts, putting his mug down, "The brig."

"He's in the brig!?" The only reason you don't jump to your feet is Irina grabbing your arm and tugging you back down next to her. You can't even imagine Simon jaywalking, let alone fucking up hard enough to get tossed into a cell.

"Yeah, see, when we got to the bar he-" Garret breaks off his thought mid-sentence, looking from you, to Irina, back to you. "No, I'm being rude. How was YOUR night, Amos? Sleep well, or were you up late?" Even at the very embers of his energy, your friend can find the heat to rib you with.

You open your mouth, but Irina pinches you underneath the table and smiles at Garret, "I was just briefing Corporal Wedge, and waiting on you. You can let go of some of your worries, finally. We're being reinforced. An entire light cruiser of Martian mujihadeen and their mecha are en route to reinforce us." She smiles, "...And more importantly, they're bringing some much-needed materials. After all, I'm supposed to be building your ace mecha, and I can't do that without the right parts." She stretches, "Ahhh, finally, I get to do what I was hired for~"

"Alright. YOU're unusually chipper today. Amos, what about you? Any sudden personality shifts to confirm that I've stumbled into a parallel universe?" Garret's bleary gaze shifts from Irina to you.

You look him dead in the eye, chewing a mouthful of your pancakes, swallowing, and setting your fork down. You clap your palms together in front of your chest, and bow deeply to your friend, "Hai hai, kouhai! Ore wa Wedguu. Ore wa Sutōmudoragon! HANAAAABI! Daijobu des, Luxol-dono?" You give him a shit-eating grin and he stares at you in bafflement.

His face collapses into his hands, "I knew it. This is some awful nightmare I can't wake up from."

Irina is trying very, very hard not to laugh at his expression, it's obvious to you by the way the corner of her mouth is twitching. Still, she clears her throat, "This is a pain, I was supposed to discuss your upgrades with the three of you. Still, I didn't have everything entirely drawn out yet, we can postpone it until I make sure the Martians haven't pilfered all of the Delphinius parts you're supposed to be getting, Sergeant. So what happened? Biggs seemed like a...well, not a troublesome sort of person."

Garret rubs his temples with his fingertips, "I might as well tell you why I'm so far over my weekly alcohol budget. Simon was insane last night. He nearly drank ME under the table, and talked me into buying him a woman while I was sloshed. I figured, hey, I can afford it, good for the little guy losing his virginity...so I didn't check the cost. He bought half a dozen whores. Six. Six entire whores. The most expensive six." He holds up a hand to forestall any comment from either of you, "Did it end there? No. It ended when he threw Lieutenant Asphodel out a window and beat up both of his squadmates. Naked. Wearing a Qu'liri prostitute's panties on his head. Well, it turns out Asphodel was still conscious enough to call in the MPs. Simon still punched out two of them and had talked the third out of her body armor when the MP he hadn't stuffed into a dumpster tagged him with a shock baton a few times and they got him back to the ship."

"I think that might be my fault. He was having a bit of a meltdown and I gave him some advice I thought would help him be more confident." You poke your fingertips together self-consciously, before abandoning the attempt to look repentant in order to scarf down the rest of your meal.

They both stare at you in puzzlement. Garret is the first to speak, "What could you possibly have told him?"

"That a soldier has to fight to protect the people." You grunt. Their stares only intensify, so you add sheepishly, "I said that he could get over this fear of enemy aces if he tried thinking more like the one he's emulating. Starwind isn't scared of no Paladin, I bet."

Garret snorts, "That's grammatically AND logically wrong. Roarke Starwind is a pirate, he's not even in SOUL. He wouldn't stand a chance in hell against a Paladin."

Irina looks uncertain, shrugging, "It definitely isn't good for his discipline."

You nod, "We should go check on him. I'm feeling guilty already."

"It was an honest mistake, Amos, you had no way to know he'd take you so literally." Irina smiles, putting her hand on your arm.

"At least it was an entertaining way to spend my credits." Garret points out. "Say, are you two...?"

Both of you look at him innocently. You speak first, "Are we coming to check on Simon? Yeah."

Might not be as much as you think. For the most part the information was neutral to helpful with some curiosity pokes. It was also good publicity for the Pumpkinseed II and could help Buchapres make a revival of a loved machine. We didn't shoot Fairchild down, as admonish cruel behavior and offered a good way to bolster their forces and weaken the enemy. Of course, Fairchild will try shit but the data is already leaked.

True, but I just wanted an excuse to post Homer Badman
>>
>>49174558
Nothing wrong with that, but I am interested to see how Fairchild can handle the turn over. She can't well execute her after that call out, and entioning the Martian buyer forces her to keep quiet about the Avalonian buyer. Honestly, as good as the money will get, I feel like we should use other means to score favor with this auction. Like brokering a month long cease fire, or getting the avalonians to back off for a bit.
>>
>>49174655
Its better for us if they keep fighting, any respite that sol gets will give it time to come after us especially when we announce our new pirate state

"So, Ms. Gaunt, you're part of 'we' now?" Garret asks as the three of you walk along the corridors in the lower level of the ship, making your way past the MPs on duty. One of them is sporting a black eye, the other keeps casting wistful glances down the corridor and fanning herself with a leaflet for jungle tours.

"Seeing as how I'm in charge of your mecha, yes." She replies with the dignity of a fairytale ice queen.

"And it has nothing at all to do with the fact that you've had your arms wrapped around one of Amos' since we left the mess hall?" He inquires skeptically.

She smiles innocently, "Of course. Why, what makes you say that, Sergeant? Ah, Amos, hold on...you have something on your face..." She gets out a clean white hankerchief from the pocket of her lab coat and dabs your cheek with it.

"Wasn't he also Corporal Wedge back there? Why is he suddenly Amos?" Garret's voice and expression only grow more skeptical.

"Why, I'm just trying to be one of the gang!" She protests, "You call him Amos, what's wrong with that, Sergeant? I'm getting to know my pilots, that's completely responsible."

"You say that while hugging his arm, with your cheeks and eartips turning red, and while calling me by my rank." Garret's voice assumes an exasperated tone.

"Yes, and?" She smiles despite the fact that she is, clearly, blushing.

You wisely stay mostly quiet, "Thanks, Irina."

"Don't mention it, you big lug." She winks at you.

"It's not that I don't know what's going on, you two, it's that you're corrupting Amos into becoming a deceitful human being that bothers me." Garret harrumphs.

"Then why do you need to ask, Sergeant?" Irina smiles cheerfully, and winks at you while your friend rolls his eyes and grumbles.

Simon is huddled on the cot in his cell, shirtless. He winces at the sound of your boots on the corridor floor, and sits up as though his head had been replaced by a thirty-gallon aquarium.

You look down at him for a moment. Irina and Garret look expectantly at you. You sigh heavily. Right, this IS your fault after all, "Hey, Simon..."

"Hi Amos." He gloomily replies.

"Did you really talk an MP sent to arrest you out of her armor?" You ask.

"She had really pretty eyes, so I told her so." He explains, "One thing just sort of led to another."

You give him a thumbs-up, "I guess for the safety of the female crew it's best we leave you in this cell, but I'm proud of you, bro."

"A-Amos don't leave me!" Simon wails, then clutches his head with a pained grimace.

"You know, when I said to try thinking more like Admiral Starwind, I didn't mean it literally. Or by that much. How's the hangover?" You sympathize with him.

"It's like a thousand tiny apes are fighting for dominance inside my skull and they're all wearing power armor." Simon groans.

Irina clears her throat, "I'll have a word with the Captain. I'm sure Asphodel started it, he's picked fights with new pilots before. Besides, we can't lose a squad when we're down to just six of them." She shakes her head, "You'll get a stern talking-to, but Captain Clearwater is a reasonable man and this IS wartime."

"Technically, it's a police action until war is officially declared." Garret remarks.

Irina rolls her eyes, "Spare me. It's the same thing with a different name."

You observe, across the hallway, that the other resident of the brig has her nose pressed against the glass and is watching the four of you closely.

I'm thinking i little bit too far maybe... But what is really our masterplan? Are we going to be pirates for life and go attacking system after system if our faction wins this? Or are we going to stop eventually? in the last case, the less destroyed by war the galaxy is, better it would be for everyone involved, no?
>>
Game resumes in half an hour so the QM can get something to eat.

>>49175188
Form our own faction with a liberated earth and a few unaligned planets. Murder Fairchild and the Green Bitch and then negotiate a truce between Avalon and Sol.

>"Technically, it's a police action until war is officially declared." Garret remarks.
Aww yeah, we space Troubles now.
>>
So when we go and raid that base as Roarke we should make it a date between us and Clemmy. Shes been talking about wanting to fight with us for a long time and we haven't taken her on a date yet

>>49175188
As far as I can tell the master plan is to keep on pirating. But this isn't everything about Roarke, I think he's also looking for people who will push him in a fight, raise our family, and keep making people Reee everywhere
>>
>>49174695
Not necessarily. A month is not as much time as you'd think, espeecially if it's but a ceasefire. They'd have time to refresh the front lines, shore up fleets, resupply, and strengthen defensive lines, but not to dedicate a elimination squad without leaving a hole somewhere. If we make it a 3-4 way ceasefire, that gives us time to shore up as well. Use money to build our forces and fortress, consolidate power in the belt, and be ready.

Incidentally, that factory in the belt with the parts we need.. think we could get it fully operational and producing?
>>
Should we do something nice for Irina or is that committing too soon?
>>
>>49175423
We could get it up and running but it will take some man power to do. We should have about a month till the tourney so if we go and take it over and start up over their we should be able to get it running and then send everyone back for the tourney security
>>
>>49175160

What do you want to say to break the ice, in that case?
>>
>>49175473
Seems like we had 3 months in game from the announcement. If possible I say we try and scrounge up whatever factories we can, old colonies, and slap them all together with the funds. If there are mining colonies, there are likely ghost colonies as well.

>>49175539
We should grab 16 Psyche if at all possible. Its the biggest M class asteroid ever recorded, at over 200 kilometers in diameter and 2.27×10^19 kg of Nickle Iron. Its a Planetary Core and has 1% of the total mass of the Belt.
>>
>>49175697
Theres probably something their already so we won't have to worry about building a mining facility or colony
>>
>>49175697
If it's not fully mined to nothing, it's a good possibility. Seems like it'd be an amazing military compound with such a strong material. Just need to lump some more asteroids to it for defense and growth and maybe thrusters and warp capabilities. Wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the choke points the green men couldn't pass.

"Hey, they treating you alright in there?" You ask, "If you're worried about him, he's just hung over. He'll be fine once he's had some water, a cold shower, and some coffee."

She blinks, "I know the signs of someone fresh from their penance after a night of drunken depravity, sirrah, and I am quite fine. Your torturers have not yet found time to visit me, so I still possess all my fingernails, see?" She displays her hands.

"That can be fixed, I'll pencil you in." Irina's voice could chill a planetary core, looking at Dame Elizabeth Wayland the way she might look at a cockroach.

The Avalonian smiles sweetly, "An easy escape, unless you are so craven as to require help. Tell me, do I not recognize your visage from somewhere? Ah, yes, the Blue Knight's rifle. I had thought it was merely an illustration of a saint...and I find myself disappointed, to see naught but a bitter-faced woman being overprotective of her paramour. Alas." She sighs, "Since I am not being tortured, I am content to wait. I have faith that She is coming, and She will scatter you like chaff and rescue me." She smiles, "Perhaps one of you will come with me. There are many wonders on Avalon. Leave this war behind, embrace the goodness of living things and the fear of your harsh social order. This world will soon be in our hands anyway, why die for a planet you have no roots on?"

"We could ask you the same thing." Irina posits.

"Ah, but the Qu'liri are practically kin. Their lower classes genetically modified en masse by the Confederaton, who took advantage of Qu'lir's poverty to create an industry of slaves and prostitutes genetically tailored to the tastes of wealthy fetishists. Arguably, the Photovores, those you call Green Men, freed them. We are their heirs. On Jupiter, genetic modification is illegal, it won't be difficult for the Qu'liri to choose a side."

Alright so this is basically what the inner solar system looks like. I think our best bet would be to divide the belt into 8 chunks with a captain being in charge of each chunk and Us/Rosita at the capital. We should place our main base in each sector deep into the astroid belt so that getting to it will be a hassle and the Navy won't be able to hit it with their full strength due to all the asteroids

>>49176161
>Then your also heirs to all the massacres the Green Men have committed and we Jovians will be happy to pay you back in full

>>
>>49176212
If we could get ahold of Vesta, and Psyche, we could mmake one hell of a base. Vesta has a high metal content and is quite a bit bigger than psyche. It's also massive compared to Ceres, the largest asteroid.
>>
>>49176161

>The Photovores also used children as suicide bombers, so forgive me if I have doubts of your lady's /generosity/ towards the Qu'lir.
>>
>>49176433
Thing is any major asteroid is probably already a base or mining facility since their relatively close to the planets. The real thing we have to worry about is how much resources they've taken from the asteroids, some of them most have been completely mined out by now

But they haven't. They haven't for a while and the thing is, even if you do try and say otherwise we'd still fight for those who don't want to join with you. Because thats both our choice and theirs. I don't care if their modified, so long as it was their choice and it doesn't harm other people. And those slaves seem to be living pretty normal lives themselves.

So rather than letting them choose, by the sounds of it, you seemed certain that the issue will be forced. What, are you going to have your Lady kill the heads of the goverment? Stamp on their voice so you can say you speak for everyone?

"Be careful with getting too proud of that. You've inherited the deaths of two-thirds of mankind along with the destruction of that Confederation." You growl, "I decline. I'd rather not be brainwashed by one of them the way you have, and when the time comes, we'll make sure that the Lady joins her family."

The Dame is immediately in your face, fists slamming against the plasteel, "How dare you insult her! Give me a sword, Blue Knight, and I will cut an apology out of you! I do not mourn Jegal 6 or the CUSS. I mourn for the deadwood, rotted by apathy and decadence, who allowed the Confederacy's evils to blossom and died in its defense. I mourn for you solar aborigines, blinded by arrogance and intent on seizing control over the galaxy by any means necessary. I mourn for YOU, you stupid, talented boy, and for the tragic death you will surely find along this path." She shakes her head, "It's such a waste! All of it! If we didn't have to defend ourselves against you maybe our nations could have lived in peace!" She takes a deep breath, visibly calming herself, "It doesn't matter. Gerer will devour your forces to the south, while...she whom I serve has come to claim the representative of the Jovian king's family. She will be here soon, and with him the Lady shall take the first steps towards peace...assuming you don't find another excuse to attack us and the worlds under the aegis of Avalon."

"Funny, I didn't know Qu'lir wanted to be under your aegis." You remark.

She smiles, seeming reassured, "Do you truly believe this is so? Very well. A cute boy's naivete is a precious flower I would never trample on. Perhaps someday, we will walk together through the Lady's forest, barefoot and without the need for weapons. Or perhaps I shall bury you with my own hands, and compose a poem for your tombstone."

"Shake her, Amos." Garret orders.

You glower at him, "Fat chance I'm going in there, crazy people are scary."

Well when all of her people and her green bitch die I sure as shit won't be mourning them. Only cares about skill and "muh abbos". What tripe. Anything to make your lady happy and claim all the strength in the galaxy for her, right? Because that'll end with peace, gather all the might in the universe and you won't have peace.

"My intent is not to harm you, Blue Knight. Perhaps what I know is not entirely the real, historical truth. Perhaps what you know is not entirely the real, historical truth. I am not a stupid woman. All I know is that I have seen the Lady, and that she is kindness, love, and truth incarnate. If her desire was truly to dominate all that lives, rather than set it free, why would she suffer the Queen to exist? Why not seize power herself?" She sighs heavily, "It pains me greatly, thinking that you and your jolly friends will likely die soon." She smiles crookedly at you, "I am sorry for my outburst. Please do not fear for me, I will be alright, it was unworthy of me to speak so callously of so much death...but I think you blame the wrong side for it." She bows her head, and goes to lie down on her cot, closing her eyes.

You aren't able to get anything else out of her, but Captain Clearwater does give Simon a stern talking-to before returning him to active duty. Apparently, Asphodel had been in civilian clothes, so it didn't count as striking a superior officer in the first place. He does, however, punish the three of you by making you fly double patrols for a day, on the logic that you indirectly caused this and Garret contributed by not stopping Simon's rampage. Consequently, you barely have time for lunch, and it isn't until early evening that you finally get to power down your mech and stretch your legs.

Which, unfortunately for you, coincides with a summons over the intercomms for all pilots to assemble in the hangar by squads for another briefing.

When you arrive, Captain Clearwater is setting up his lectern with the help of some of the technicians. He greets you all with a sunny smile and a wave, "Good evening, everyone! I hope you're not too upset with me for calling you away from whatever you were doing, but we have important business at hand!" He clasps his hands together, "Aid has been sent from Celephais. Two hours from now, the Martian Holy Militia vessel Cassim's Folly will arrive at Innsmouth with eight squads of Scimitars and two squads of Tulwars. Alongside reinforcements, they're bringing supplies, including backup mecha in case we have any further accidents, and parts for new SOUL machines." He smiles cheerfully, "I want each and every one of you to make the Martians welcome. Yes, I realize there have been rumors about them attempting to convert the populace to Hakimite Islam, and when possible I want you to be gentle but firm about dissuading them. We don't need to make enemies of the natives. Irina, do the thing!" He points dramatically at her.

"Sir, it's really just one button push in your projectable Terrain app. You don't need me to..." Irina protests.

"Yes, well, I...don't know where on my PC I left the damned thing. You handle it, I have complete faith in you." He waves dismissively.

Sighing, Irina brings it up on her PC and projects an image of Innsmouth and the surrounding territory large enough for everyone to see. Captain Clearwater apparently remembers where the laser pointer app on his PC is, because he puts a little red dot on a small valley, "This location, here, is where the two squads we're sending out to escort the ship in will meet up with it. As a show of good faith, we'll be bringing them in the last fifty kilos. Lieutenant, how's your arm?"

"Bruised because of an undisciplined little boy who probably has never felt consequences for anything in his life, but I can still pilot, sir." Asphodel sniffs.

You feel your hand tighten into a fist. Simon has actually had a rather difficult life. He's had to work hard to get into SOUL, and has never been able to get away with the things Garret or Caesar have. Asphodel turns his head to glance at Simon, and catches your gaze. What he sees must frighten him, because he blanches and looks away quickly, anger twisting his expression into a scowl.

Matthias Clearwater just smiles as if nothing is wrong, "Good! You'll be leading the escort squads. Take whoever you like as your second. That should cure your boredom, right? Right." He claps his hands, "Let's get those engines fired up, people!" As the pilots start to break up, he makes a fingergun gesture at Garret, "Let's have tea on the bridge and discuss some ideas for the future, bring your squad along!"

Garret salutes, looking a little bit confused, "Yes sir!" He looks askance at you and Simon, both of you shrug.

The bridge of a UJCIDF starship is not really a comfortable or aesthetically pleasing place unless you like a lot of shiny metal and depressed pits full of consoles for the bridge officers. Still, Captain Clearwater has clearly done his best to make it a bit more pleasant. Custom wood finish on the bulkheads, lighting tuned a bit more towards yellow to replicate the healthy feeling of sunlight, and as he sits in his formal chair the tap of a few buttons brings up a boomerang-shaped table in front of it along with a handful of swiveling stools.

He fetches a teapot adorned with yellow flowers, and pours you each a cup, "Well now, I think it's high time we discussed this problem with the Lieutenant and see if we can work it all out. You've all done quite well, and I think it's understandable that as the ship's ace he's getting a little jealous, but that's a problem we can solve if we all work hard to be friends, right?"

"Captain!" A young woman...the same one you've seen giving you deathglares, with the short dark hair and big brown eyes, rushes over. Her hip bumps against your elbow just as you're lifting your tea to your lips, causing it to spill all down your shirt. You jump to your feet, pulling the garment away from your skin to avoid being scalded. She doesn't even seem to notice, saluting him, "Sir, emergency incoming transmission from the Cassim's Folly!"

"What? Blast, are they having engine trouble or something? Put it through. Oh, and be more careful next time, I'm sure Corporal Wedge doesn't have an infinite supply of spare uniforms." Captain Clearwater gestures in an irritated way.

There's a moment of static over the line, then words, they sound like they're coming from a large man with a thick Martian accent, "Mayday, mayday. This is Captain Faruq Rabban of the Cassim's Folly, our ship is under attack and in serious danger." You hear an explosion in the background and muffled Arabic cursing.

The groundpounders on the avalonian side just want to live same as us, it's just that in order to do that we got to die.

Matthias points at one of the bridge crew, "Just one? Oh, dash it all. Tell the Lieutenant to scramble immediately. Captain Rabban, just hold out another hour, keep going at the speed you're traveling at and we should meet you halfway thanks to our Mantas."

"No good. We already deployed our mecha complement in standard formation, but she seemed to know what we were planning even before we did it. We've lost both squads of Tulwars already, and the Scimitars can't seem to scratch her armor. She's playing with us. I...I have been a soldier for fifteen years, but never have I seen an enemy like this." The tides of panic swell higher in the man's voice. "Every moment, more of my Scimitars are being snuffed out. Do we know if everything including the queen being in power is an epic masterplan/ruse created by a mind much more advanced than our own to conquer the galaxy? No.

But the question is... Do it matter to Amos? And to Roark? Do you really think they would be willing to doubt and give a chance to the enemy?

>>[Recommend immediately pulling all units back to the city]

These are unfavorable terms for an engagement.
>>
>>49179224
With the Paladin out there harassing every supply drop? Not very likely, especially when you consider that we're not a very important front.
>>
Alright time to reveal my crazy plan to defeat the paladin.

So the plan is to engage her near Insmouth where we can use the city's defenses to help us out in distracting her. We have the other pilots in their pumpkin seeds equiped with Epoxy while we lure the paladin closer to the city then they spring out and use the expoxy to pin her. And while shes pinned Us and Garret focus on destroying her shield. While Shinji who was flow up in a ship drops out and Inizuma kicks the stationary paladin. The added bonus for distance should make it so the drop kick should kill her since it only can hit the torso.
>>
This thing is a monster... Wong, can you send the stats we obtained from it last time?
>>
>>49179262
All we need to do is tell high command "Yo, there are TWO PALADINS out here" and they'll send something after the HVTs.

Why SOUL A or B isn't here right now is beyond me. They already know they are here.
>>
>>49179276
What if she dodges the epoxy. All of it? Why even go in for a dropkick? Just keep epoxying her and blasting her.
>>
>>49179291
You mean...The Propaganda squad and the Nerfed-because-they-arent-licking-my-feet squad?
Why are you surprised Hermione didn't send they here?
>>
>>49179169
Cheeky, but no. Just not a fan of cult leaders pretending they are gods and manipulating people. Always leads to bad shit.

>>49179149
Its a pretty good trap. With no supplies and her acting as the watchdog of what supplies do come, we'd likely run out of repair materials and heavier ammo. Send out SoulSquad, but be smart. Our goal should be getting the most important bits of gear and running with them, not fighting.

>>49179276
Problem is that even with a bunch of foam it's not going to do us much good due to it's low DC. We really should not risk the city. Grab the important cargo to make our Soul machines. If we can make something that can take it on, we'll be in better shape.
>>
>>49179262

Drop it from orbit. She'll have to sit right above Innsmouth in range of all our guns if she wants to bother us then.
>>
>>49179311
We have about 6 guys do the epoxy so she should at least get hit by one and then it'll be easier to get her with the rest on the next go, hell we can probably have some fitted to work like grenades. As for the drop kick depending how thick her armor is it might be extremely hard to get through it along with the fact she'll be firing back at us. If shinji comes in from the right angle she shouldn't be able to hit him, hopefully
>>
>>49179285

No, because you didn't obtain any stats from it last time. Your squad doesn't have a Target Analyzer, for one, and for another...even when Roarke was using his Target Analyzer on the Anseis, it kept encountering errors because of the unfamiliar construction.
>>
>>49179323
Because they sure as shit aren't sending Stern out to this backwater, and Fairchild isn't coming, and all the REAL aces are doing other shit.

And because the propaganda from a SOUL squad succeeding here would be fucking monumental. They are actual aces, with some passable machines. Give them some credit.
>>
>>49179340

Burning luck should not be our first option to make a risky plan feisable. We do not have Roarke's dice pool or MP. Not only that, but this enemy is of ace class in a highly mobile mech. With Roarke it wasn't a issue, but the milita are going to be sub par and will likely miss. We are in no shape to risk that many lives and bringing her close to the civvies hinders us.

Damn, the reason why she's probably doing all this shit is to force a fierce drop in morale. Cause the people to lose hope in us, surrender, and turn on us. We cannot let her close to the city.

>>
>>49179392

So let me get this straight.

We are going, in the dark, to fight a mech that is currently BTFOing a cruiser and 30~ Marslim jets. A mech that we self-destructed our previous mech to avoid fighting. We are going there with the same mecha, generally, with backup from six Pumpkinseeds.

We're fucked.
>>
>>49179455
Its that fact that means we are in no shape to fight her yet. There's also something that bugs me.. she knows that our needed supplies are here, but the only ones who were briefed were the pilots, right? No one on base should know so quickly.
>>
>>49179455
So instead of aiming for all of it, you aim for only one part which is arguably the least dangerous part so it stops them from moving, instead of stopping them from killing everyone. Thunder please. Stop.
>>
>>49179508

Yes. In fact, Roarke trivializes epoxy guns because he can rip out of their hold so easily...but that takes an action to do, so they can at least slow him down. Sort of.

We knew there was a mole the moment knights knew our exact route. Now we know one thing; the person who is the mole, is a pilot. If I were a betting man, it will be a pilot who sortes with us.
>>
>>49179435

Voting against sending SOUL. Supplies are replaceable, Garma's smile isn't.
>>
>>49179554
Well no one would die, so I would say that's a winning fucking situation. We have no way to replace what is lost so taking a risk like that is pointless because even if it works they have more men and actual supply lines so they can just keep hitting us.
>>
>>49179607
Harpies dont have beam swords and 12 kill missiles.
>>
>>49179587

You know what's worse odds? 30 plus a STARSHIP versus 1.

>>49179607

Then why are you voting to go!?
>>
>>49179626
And the Paladin is much strong then the Kaiser ever was
>>
>>49179634
I don't intend to fight her, were getting those parts and getting the hell out of there. If we need a get a way we shoot the missles into the cliff and cause a rockslide
>>
>>49179610

Not necessarily. See...there's at least one other person who knew about those supplies. Irina.

Now, hopefully, the bridge crew and officers knew too, because it makes it less likely that it's her, but she definitely was aware of that supply ship because she mentioned it even before the briefing.
>>
>>49179657
Your plan is to walk into an obvious trap, then try to outrun something that is faster and stronger than us, and you think that causing a rockslide will stop the flying machine from following us. I am starting to question your sanity.
>>
>>49179657

Her mech can fly.

I feel like I'm going crazy, here, every vote but mine seems to be for sending SOUL, but you all want to do things like grab what's probably an ENTIRE MECH from a starship and then run away before we die or something. You guys are insane.
>>
I bet that the mole is that girl who keeps watching us...
...Or Lina.
>>
>>49179626
Beam swords are nice, but they require you to hit. Our teams are likely B rank. 14 average dice pool. The Paladin is likely sitting at a 18-19 with a mech that could very well have the same maneuver value. The shields were strong enough to eat 3 10 kill blasts. That means around 12 SP active shields. Possibly two of them. Her weapon is a strong melee with possible AOE implications.

We have 2 12 kill missiles each. If we drop them all on her at once, along with the heaviest guns, we may scratch her paint job and piss her off. This fight isn't to kill her, its to get the manpower and supplies we need to prefer a operation that can deal with her. Right now she has the advantage and its going to make things much worse. Get the people and get the supplies and get out.
>>
>>49179695
>>49179697
I kind of forgot the flying, but what choice do we really have? Those supplies are crucial and if we don't get them were fucked. She killed almost all of our reinforcements we won't have supplies or people for at least a while after this.

Want do you propose, then? Stay here and let them die and go BOM-BOM with ours very needed supplies?
>>
>>49179619
Killed a Paladin would be a huge moral blow and just look at how much damage she's doing by herself now. This is war anon people will die, our friends will die, we will die. Make your peace with that and do what you can to make sure your side wins this and killing that Paladin is a damn good thing for our side
>>
>>49179714

How the fuck do we do that? How do we "get the people"? Carry them on our back? How do we "get the supplies"? Carry them and hope she's slower than we are encumbered? She isn't going to sit there and watch us dig around for the specific parts, likely replaceable, for us to upgrade our mecha. She will kill us.

God damn you, Wong, you knew EXACTLY the bait to turn off anything resembling intelligence in fa/tg/uys and turn them into drooling loothogs.
>>
>>49179742

Yes. And then command will send more supplies with more serious escorts. Otherwise we have the person we know she's hunting out there with zero support trying to grab random heavy mech parts while she butchers us.
>>
>>49179784
Whats your plan then anon? Sit here and wait for her to come knocking at our door demanding Garreth while we have no supplies to fight her at all?
>>
>>49179798

Hehehehehehe, what can i say, he IS a DM after all.
>>
>>49179784
It's called flying with them. If there are still Tulwars that means they are still around, correct? There is also several teams of pumpkin seeds including us. Considering there is only one Paladin, dispersing into groups and taking a shared load both as escorts and carrying some parts will force her to either chase them or chase us. This is a bad situation and will likely cause some damages. Hell, I am expecting us to only get the more important components as oppose to the frame or armor. Either way, there are means to do this.

>>49179798
Anon, don't think you've noticed, but Soul C was likely going to be a suicide squad. Two rookies and the presidents son dying on a battlefield with two confirmed paladins would spark a lot of fuel. Chances are, this will be our only cargo drop if we don't prove ourselves. If we don't get the cargo or reinforcements, we are going to be facing a war of attrition against an incredible foe while morale drops.

This is a situation where not taking the bait is worse than taking the bait.
>>
>ITT: The worst strategists and tacticians known to man
>>
Look I know the plan I came up with is extremely risky but it is a plan that might actually kill the Paladin. Nothing else we have that we know of will ever scratch it. A drop attack is 5ks of damage with an extra point of damage for each 100 meters. If we drop from a mile and half up thats 24ks extra which should kill her no matter if she blocks or not. Is their any ideas you anons have to make this a better idea?
>>
>>49179839

Didn't you vote for it?

>>49179824

It's mostly parts for your SOUL mecha, it's not like the city will starve if the Martians don't get through.

>>49179865

The Tulwars are gone. Their pilots are dead, it was confirmed a bit earlier.

The Cicero currently carries a mere 18 pilots, that's six squads of Pumpkinseeds, some of which are Pumpkinseed IIs. As it stands, your squad, Asphodel's squad, and a third squad make up half the fighting force of the Cicero, and the Captain will NOT send more than that.

I'm also kind of confused by what you mean by "the more important components."

This is a weird situation because one side clearly has all the votes, but the other side has the only clear argument as to why they want to do what they're doing. Both namefags are voting to go, then saying they don't want to fight or posting bait images.
>>
>>49179877
Nah, if some of my friends were playing, we would be trying to duel the Paladin while our only reinforcements, the two most antagonizing pilots they could find, looted the ship for resources....While piloting harpies.

Yes, i did, but sometimes it's okay to make fun of yourself if the joke is good enough. And i think that we may be acting too impulsive for our own good, but the situation seems to call for something like it.
>>
>>49179946
According to the corebook a drop kick doesn't damage your mech just the enemies
>>
>>49179877
I don't hear any counter proposals fro the peanut gallery that isn't hiding and doing nothing. If you're going to complain, be constructive about it. As is, all you are doing is generating a bunch of hotair.

>>49179923
Anything that could make good weaponry or important parts. Shield mounts, hydraulics, components for beam rifles, ammo, basically the 'fragile' bits that are worth the most.

As is, it sounds that if only the ship is around, then it's simply transporting the cargo. Can we take some spare mantas to act as pack mules? Parts along shouldn't be any more heavy than a mech. If we go for everything.
>>
I'd also like to emphasize that this choice will have consequences. If you're voting purely because it seems like there's plot a certain way or that it's expected of a shonen protagonist...don't. There is a very real chance of fallout from this choice. You were warned.
>>
>>49179923
I for one think we should roll up dump all our missiles into it and try to keep it expoy'd up while we plink away at it until it runs away, explodes or kills us all. It may not be the most tactically sound idea but I dont think we are the sort of people who abandon people to get wrecked by avolon. No man left behind and all that shit.
>>
>>49179957

Straight answer, what course of action are you actually voting for?

Also, serious talk, don't vote a certain way if you aren't 100% serious about it. I don't know you. I don't know when you're being sarcastic, and the image you post won't change that because I'll frequently just glance at the response and ignore the picture entirely.
>>
>>49179969
Problem is the shields, they have to have at least 12 kills and might be active so it would take a whole hell of a lot just to get through those shields and then we would have to get through the actual armor which is most likely officer armor which means anything under 4 won't go through
>>
>>49179969
That said I may have been watching too much 00 lately and rooting for the military to fuck up the gundams has carried over to here.
>>49179994
How much would a 12 K missile take off the shield if it hit?
>>
>>49180019
If I remember right, it would take off 1 kill
>>
>>49179964

Here's one. A destroyed ship WILL get us real reinforcements because it proves a serious threat in the area, then we dissect the ship for our parts with the UJCIDF backup and rescue any survivors. In daylight. Without the Paladin around.

Seriously, nine pumpkinseeds versus this thing is insane. We're all going to die because you retards wanted to be le funny trollz.

Have fun searching for weapons while the Paladin is ass-raping us so hard that the next sidequest we see is "Glorious Vengeance of Caesar: A Lament for Fallen Friends".
>>
>>49179984
Voting not to go
>>
>>49179984
...Question, can we ask the ship to dump half it's supplies? Like drop a good portion of them and try and make a break for the base? If she assumes we abandoned the cargo, she may leave the main ship alone to watch over them. It's less risky, but we only get half of the gear and there is no point in sacrificing more men to get everything.
>>
>>49180019

One point of SP from the shield, no damage to the mech.
>>
>>49179984
Ok, my bad, i understand.

But even if i think that going there is a choice of much risk, AND that we don't have some plan b to what to do if the first fails... I don't know if Amos would abandon the martians to die even in this circunstances...
>>
>>49179149
>[Recommend sending SOUL]

I saw we fight. Every other time we encountered this bitch, it was when we were either running or returning to base. Both times we were injured and exhausted.

Maybe if we try taking the initiative, we can at least damage the mech.
>>
>>49180045
tell to dump all non-essential shit and throw all power to the shields and engines. might give them enough of an edge to make it for escorts to arrive.
>>
>>49180048
Now I know the corebook says drop kicks won't damage your mech, but whats your rules on how that would go?

And unless we all suddenly shift to my idea I'm switching to staying in place
>>
>>49180029
>>49180048
Not terribly good. The only other thing I can think of is to tell the ship guy to ram her since if we dont go hes fucked anyway.
>>
Also a quick reminder. A unit with an epoxy gun loses its ranged weapon and its shield. If you want a unit to have an epoxy gun, it has to be very committed to that role in the battle ahead.
>>
>>49180031
I don't think you understand the gravity of the situation that with all thats happened the only reinforcements when 2 paladins were here was us and a cargo ship surrounded by Talwars. There will be no calvary because this entire time we ARE the Calvalry. Hell, they are probably going to let us fester because 2 paladins here means two less somewhere else of critical importance.

Still, if possible I do say the ship should drop non essential, non critical components. If we need to, we'll use the Pumpkinseeds for the base. It is not worth the risk with the talwars dead.
>>
>>49180095
Is the ships generator nuclear? If so we could see if he would willing to go Aloha Snackbar on her?

One Paladin is an entire continent's distance away, actually. Gerer is on the front lines and was presumed in command of the Avalonian forces on this world. This other one is new, nobody you know (besides Dame Wayland) knows what's up with it or even what it's called.

We need those supplies, we might as well try to get them here.

"Captain...this is a Special Operation, isn't it? Asphodel and the other squad won't be enough. Let us go along." You interject.

He hesitates, looking at you carefully, "Corporal, are you sure? This...this is going to be extremely dangerous."

You straighten your shoulders, "I'm a soldier, sir. I didn't sign up to stay safe."

Garret nods, and Simon too after a moment. The Planetary Chairman of Jupiter's son speaks solemnly, "We're all in agreement. We can't leave our allies to die. Even if it's just drawing the Paladin away, we could save Martian lives."

"Allah protect you, warriors. We shall do our best to survive this storm until you arrive." Captain Rabban's voice is grave over the line, "I salute your peerless valor."

Captain Clearwater stands, and gravely shakes the hand of each member of your squad. He pauses when he takes hold of yours, "Corporal...is there anything you want me to pass on to...a certain woman? Anything you want me to tell her?"

Think of it this way, we cant really fight back if we dont get them. I mean the paladin could show up on our door tomorrow or next week and our chances of beating her would be about as good as they are now unless the base is packing some really heavy firepower.

"Tell her..." You search for words for a moment, "Tell her I'm sorry, it looks like I'm going to be late coming home."

He nods, "You have your orders, then."

"Yes sir!" The three of you chant in unison, heels clicking together as you snap off three perfect salutes.

On your way out the door, though, you pause, "Tell her I won't make her wait too long, though. I've got a machine's worth to prove."

Captain Clearwater nods, "That...that's incredibly manly, Corporal. I'll make sure she hears it. Dealing with how angry she's going to be at you risking your life, though, is your problem. Come back home in one piece, you might not have the strength to survive her otherwise."
