The Light Shots with which you struck Raditz seem to have had no effect. However, your attack did cause Goku and Piccolo to stop short, and when Raditz fires his energy attacks from the cloud of smoke your blasts created, Goku and Piccolo have enough time to avoid the attacks.

They land on the ground, and the three of you watch as the smoke clears. When you see that Raditz has vanished, however, you desperately look for him.

"Where did he go?!" Goku shouts just before his brother appears behind him.

"Right here," Raditz announces before kicking Goku in the back.

As Goku drops to the ground, Piccolo thrusts his hands toward Raditz, and you feel his energy spike as he unleashes a powerful blast of energy. Raditz shrugs the attack off and rushes forward, slamming his fist into Piccolo's gut, then spinning and kicking him in the back of the head.

As Piccolo falls, you launch yourself at Raditz, attacking the Saiyan with your full fury. You've caught your breath since the battle with that monster, so when you strike, you're at the top of your game once again.

But, Raditz is still more than prepared to deal with an attack from you. He easily blocks your first punch, and spins to avoid the kick you follow with. As you throw a left hook, he easily parries it, and throws a punch at your face. You move your head out of the way, but still come away with a nasty cut on your left cheek.

In answer, you throw a punch that nearly hits Raditz, and you see his eyes widen for a moment before he rams his knee into your gut. As you hunch over, he readies himself to strike you in the back of the head.]

"Tofoo!" Goku shouts, rushing toward his brother, who vanishes into thin air and avoids the attack.

He appears behind Goku, and throws a punch, but Goku just barely manages to duck beneath it, throwing himself onto his hands and kicking back with both feet. The kicks push Raditz back just a few inches, and Goku handsprings back up, thrusting his palms toward Raditz and firing a blast of energy.

Raditz swats the blast aside, and punches the upside-down Goku in the face, throwing his upper body forward, and allowing the larger Saiyan to grab his ankles.

Piccolo, back on his feet, rushes toward Raditz, and you rush forward along with him.

Raditz spins, throwing Goku into you, and knocking you both to the ground. Piccolo reaches Raditz, and leaps into the air, stretching his left arm down and firing a blast of energy directly into the Saiyan's face.

For the first time, an attack seems to have some sort of effect. As Piccolo retracts his arm, Raditz staggers back a step.

Goku picks himself up, and you rise beside him.

Goku smirks. "Sounds like a plan."

Standing side by side, the two of you put your right feet back, cupping your hands at your sides and gathering your energy.

"Ka......" the two of you begin. "Me....."

Balls of blue light appear between your palms, and Raditz glances toward the two of you as the device on his face begins to beep frantically.

"What?!" he shouts, looking in your direction. "What?! Nine-eighty?! Both of them?!"

His eyes widen, and his jaw drops.

"They've tricked me!" he shouts in fear. "These Earth-dogs can amplify their power by focusing their energy into one point!"

"Ha....me....."

The two of you continue.

"Combined power....TWO THOUSAND AND TWENTY FIVE?! I CAN'T BLOCK THAT!"

Piccolo looks down at the two of you, a grin coming to his face.

"HAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!" you shout, thrusting your hands forward.

Goku unleashes his wave at the same time as you, and the two beams combine with one another, creating a massive wave of energy that explodes toward a terrified Raditz.

The Saiyan quickly leaps into the air, speeding away from the blast as fast as he can.

Goku moves his arms, and you do the same, redirecting the blast skyward in pursuit of the fleeing Saiyan, who looks down and growls in frustration.

"Persistent fools," he spits, changing direction again, only for Goku and yourself to send the blast chasing him yet again.

"Enough of this!" Raditz declares, changing course again and heading right toward Piccolo.

The demon's eyes go wide, and Raditz punches him in the face with enough force to knock him out cold.

As Piccolo begins to fall to the ground, Raditz grabs hold of the back of his shirt, holding your ally between himself and the oncoming blast.

"Damn!" Goku shouts.

"NO!" Goku shouts just before the attack strikes, creating a massive explosion that shakes the ground beneath your feet.

Raditz is thrown from the resulting cloud, striking the ground on his back.

He actually looks hurt, and one of his shoulder pads has been blown off, leaving a nice scorch where the blast did the most damage. His teeth are clenched, his eyes shut, and he lets out a growl of both pain and irritation.

But, as the smoke clears, there is no sign of Piccolo. His body isn't on the ground, nor is it hovering in the air. There's no sign of his clothes, save the ones he discarded previously.

And, you can't feel his energy.

Raditz rises again, looking at the dissipating cloud with a smirk on his face.

"Well, that was a nice trick, but it looks like it hurt you a lot more than it hurt me," the Saiyan tells you. "That's one down."

Guys. The saiyans won't come here for a long time. We can go to Namek under the radar unless we're railroaded into bragging about it over Radditz' conveniently dying corpse.

It took Vegeta and Nappa almost a year, and they were rushing ahead without orders. We can get to Namek and make wishes and be back before then. That's even assuming those two would be involved in an initial invasion at all since Earth is so weak that they sent baby Goku originally.

"PICCOLO!" you shout, calling out for the demon you reluctantly called ally on numerous occasions.

There's no answer, and no sign of the demon's survival.

He's gone, and that means Kami is gone as well, along with the Dragonballs.

Raditz shakes with laughter, the mocking sound echoing all around the open field.

"Scream for him all you want!" the Saiyan tells you. "It won't do you any good! You imbeciles actually thought you could fool me with such a simple misdirection? Well, there's the price for your failure; your green man is dead!"

Your hands clench into fists of rage, and with a yell, you explode toward Raditz, Goku right behind you. The Saiyan smirks, blocking and parrying every attack you and your friend throw his way. He backs away quickly, then throws a kick that catches Goku in the head, and a punch that catches you in the jaw.

Both of you are thrown to the ground, and Raditz stares down at the two of you with a cruel smirk.

"Is this all?" he asks. "One clever trick was all you had? How sad."

You've lost Piccolo, and Raditz seems able to withstand any attack you and Goku throw at him. Only two strikes, one by Piccolo, and one by you, have actually hurt Raditz, and even those only stopped him for a moment.

Now, you've angered him to the point where he's promised to take your life. You and Goku are tired, injured, and staring death in the face.

Nowhere you've never been before.

The situation may look hopeless, but you and Goku are warriors, and you aren't just going to roll over and die.

You glance over at your friend, and he gives you a nod before the two of you break into a charge.

"Again? Some people never learn," Raditz says as the two of you come his way.

At the last moment, Goku shoots left, and you shoot right, the two of you putting distance between yourselves and Raditz before leaping into the air.

The Saiyan frowns up at the two of you, and you cup your hands at your side.

"KA....ME...." you begin.

"Oh, no you don't!" Raditz shouts, throwing a red ball of light up in your direction.

Using the Afterimage technique, you get out of the way, and Goku strikes, dropping down and kicking Raditz in the cheek with both feet.

The Saiyan is knocked to the ground, and Goku quickly back-handsprings to gain distance as he gets back up.

"Your cheap shots won't work on me!" Raditz promises.

With a yell, you fire a Light Shot at the Saiyan's back. He spins around, alerted by the device on his face to your action. You redirect the blast upward, and as he looks up at it, you finish what you were saying before.

"HA ME HA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" you shout, firing a blast of light from your feet and launching yourself at the distracted Saiyan Warrior.

As you fly toward Raditz, you channel energy into your right fist, and pull your arm back.

The device alerts him to the sudden explosion of power, but it's too late, and your Bear Claw attack hits him in the gut, cracking his armor as it throws him off his feet, and sends him crashing to the ground.

You land on your stomach, but quickly get back up, taking a moment to catch your breath as you look back over at the stunned Saiyan.

"H-how...." he groans, rolling over and getting into a kneel. "Why didn't my scouter pick up what you were doing?"

"That's a secret," you tell the Saiyan.

Raditz glares at you as he gets to his feet.

"Fine, have your little secrets," he tells you, his voice trembling with pain and rage. "It doesn't make a difference. You got a lucky shot in, and it won't happen again. You won't live that long."

He's pissed, and you're really tired now. You've used a lot of energy in the past few minutes, and even if he's hurt, he's far more powerful than you are.

As you drop into a defensive stance, you know that you're probably about to die, and are sure that the look on your face does little to hide that knowledge.

Raditz smirks. "What's wrong? Have you finally realized that you can't win?"

He begins to step toward you, raising his left hand, palm turned upward toward the sky. "Don't feel too bad. You put up a much better fight than I'd expected from Earth trash. And for that, I'll give you a special going away present."

A ball of light appears over his upturned hand.

"This is my favorite technique," he explains. "It's called a Double Sunday."

You grit your teeth, bracing yourself.

"NOW, SAY GOODBYE!" he shouts, pulling his hand back. "AHHHHHHHHH!!!!!"

He hunches forward, letting out ragged gasps as he glances back to find Goku with a firm grip on his tail.

"Hehehe, hi there," your friend greets his brother.

"Ka...karot," Raditz gasps. "How?"

"You mean you haven't figured it out yet?" Goku asks, applying pressure to the other Saiyan's tail.

Raditz groans, falling to his knees.

"We've learned to conceal our energy," Goku tells him. "Just one of those tricks us "Earth trash" like to use."

"D-damn you," Raditz groans, falling to the ground.

"Tofoo, do you think you can manage another Kamehameha Wave?" Goku asks.

"It's too late for that," Goku tells him. "Because of you, Piccolo is dead. If you're lying, and I let you go, you could kill a lot more people, and the Dragonballs aren't here for us to bring any of those people back."

"W-what?" Raditz asks.

"I've been tricked into hurting innocent people, and getting my friends killed once already," Goku says bitterly. "I won't let that happen again. It's over, Raditz!"

He looks back up at you. "Tofoo, get ready!"

Nodding, you put your right foot back, cupping your hands at your side and gathering what energy you have left.

"Ka....." you begin.

"Y-you haven't won anything," Raditz declares.

You continue gathering energy, moving around to the side so that you can hit Raditz without harming Goku.

"What do you mean?" Goku demands.

Raditz chuckles. "R-remember the other two Saiyans I spoke of? Well, with my death, they won't be able to conquer the world we'd wanted. And like I told you, Earth was right after that world on our list. They'll be coming."

"How long?" Goku asks, his voice shaking.

"From their current location, it should only be about a year," Raditz answers smugly. "One short year is all you have left. I almost feel sorry for you, Kakarot. You had the chance to join us, but you spit in our faces, and killed one of the few Saiyans left in the universe. And, not only that, but you robbed them of a valuable pay day."

He laughs.

"You will suffer in ways you can hardly imagine," he promises. "And then, you, and everyone you love will die."

You feel yourself beginning to tremble with anger, and lose your focus on the Kamehameha. You channel that energy instead into your left fist, and approach the helpless Saiyan.

"I...just wish I could be there to see it," Raditz laments before erupting into another fit of laughter.

"SHUT UP!" you scream, striking him in the side of the head with your Bear Claw, so much energy in the attack that it snaps the Saiyan's neck.

As Raditz goes silent, you fall to your knees.

We won!

Well, if Popo knows about Namek, we have Raditz' pod, and also Katas' ship.

Chances are we're gonna need to send someone off in Raditz' pod to Namek. No idea how long that'll take, probably "Almost exactly a year".

Then we run into the very real problem that Piccolo, presuming he's been allowed to keep his body, will have GOT GUD. He gets a huge powerup after his first death.

"Go get Kori," you tell Goku.

"Right," he says, leaving you and his dead brother behind as he rushes to the crater, leaping down and making his way toward the pod.

You take the time to rest and consider your options. In one year, two Saiyans are going to arrive on Earth. If they're at least as strong as Raditz, they could wipe out everyone on this planet. And, considering how close this battle came to ending in disaster (well, more of a disaster than it actually did), you sincerely doubt you and your friends will be able to stop it.

On top of that, Piccolo and Kami are dead, which means the Dragonballs are gone as well. There's no way to wish anybody who might die (and, let's be honest, people are going to die) in the invasion of the Saiyans back to life.

The fight with Raditz was bad, but this situation is hopeless.

Goku emerges from the crater, holding his daughter in his arms.

"Well, it's over for now," your friend tells you as he approaches. "But we only have a year to train for the next two."

That's actually not a bad idea. The only problem is that you aren't quite sure how it's supposed to work. But, you are married to one of the smartest women on the planet, and the son-in-law of one of the smartest men on the planet. You're sure one of them could figure out how to fix it.

"Kori should train too," you suggest to Goku.

"Yeah," he nods, then looks at his daughter. "What do you say, Kori? Do you want to get strong and help us fight off those Saiyans?"

Kori nods. "I don't like those guys, and I'm not going to let them hurt you again!"

Goku smiles proudly at his daughter. "Alright then, I'll train you."

GUYS. We need to tell Goku and everyone else about the gravity chamber. Training on Kami's place would help in fine-tuning KI for the rest of the Z Fighters, but nothing says gains like doubling or possibly tripling our rate.
