That's better.
The feeling of anguish and contempt slowly leaves your appendages. While it's not pain; the feeling is close enough to make your heart skip a few steps on every beat.

That's a lot better.

You are Jack Albator.
Excellent captain.
King of the world.
High as a kite.

That's you.

Now that the pain from last night's conquest has faded; you're more than happy to focus on the feeling of the noon-time sun. It's been a few hours since the kids left, and you're starting to feel the soothing taste of relief to your formerly-broken extremeties. You would even be daring enough to ask for round two at this point if-

There's a clinking noise, and the shrine's door flies open again. A dirt-covered fox-girl stammers out. Her hands cupping no less than thirty silver pieces.
Her face speaks a thousand unspeakable words of avarice.

-Yikes. That's why you aren't going to ask for a round two.

Speaking of which, Madeleine slithers around the corner and is face-to-face with you.

"'Ey Lass."
"Hey Jack, feeling up for round two?" She lowers herself to your level.

"No, no. I- I think this is an inappropriate time, Lass."

I'm doing fine, but let's just say I have not made the best life decision in terms of my career.

In fact, I'm going to be working through labor day weekend. So that's going to be a real treat.

"-Also, aye gotta check someone in the castle today. Was waitin' for a message."

That's true. You were waiting for word on when Gallete can get the hell out of your country and return to their own rotten cat-lands.

Oh, also you were waiting for word on your airship. Maybe you can put all of Gallete on it and make them walk the plank right off into their own castle.
You're going to meet the engineer today responsible for restoring the ol' gal. His progress has quickened the past month, now that he's being threatened almost every day by you!

You miss sailing.

"Psh, fine." Madeleine sits upright, stretching her arms. "One question, if you don't mind?"
"Shoot."
"Are you sure you're not forgetting something important? I was thinking about it earlier, and- it almost feels like we both forgot something."

You?
Forget something?

Pfft.

"That's silly Lass." You grin, and stand up. "Aye'll be back in a few hours."

--

The path to Biscotti is quiet.
Much more so than usual.

Typically, you hear the bugs in the trees chirping, the birds singing and fluttering about.
You even sometimes see some spirits; wandering through the forest. Especially the spirit wandering from your flask into your mouth.

Strangely enough, it almost feels vacant around here. Like-

In the middle of the path ahead.
There's a little girl, wearing a black cloak. She grimaces at you as your livestock steps closer and closer to her. She's fairly tiny, maybe about Keiko's height?

What the heck?

>Ignore her and keep walking
>"Aye, ye need somethin'?"
>Nope nope, too many strange characters, don't even look her in the eyes.

Okay, that was weird. My connection just decided "Nope!" and died. If It happens and I don't come back, I'll try to resume the thread either tomorrow or Saturday.

But anyway.

"Aye, ye need somethin'?"

No response, continued grimace.

"Ye need a ride into town? Aye'm goin' that way."

No response, continued grimace.

"Where's yer parents anyway? Aye would think they wouldn't let kids wander 'round in the woods in these parts."

No response, continued grimace.

Okay, well, you're going to just assume that she doesn't have any business with you and continue on your way, then.

You mush several steps further, and-
She's not moving.

"Alright, little girl, ye need ta move when somethin' larger than ye is comin' yer way."
No response, continued grimace.
"Ye-know-" The only thing that makes you more riled up than cats is insubordination. "Kids should respect yer elders. If ye plan to just glare daggers at everyone who passes by, what's people gonna think when yer older?"

You manuveur around the girl, and continue on your way; "Go have fun with yer youth."

Within an instant, the girl PICKS UP YOU AND THE BIRD UNDER YOU with only a single hand grasping its leg.

The poor beast squawks, flapping its useless wings as she puts it down right back in front of her.
No response, continued grimace.

That's when you decide to get off.
"Okay! hold on a second! What's the big idea he-rUGH!"

Yikes she's strong!

"My sister." She has grabbed the front of your shirt and pulled you down toward her. "WHERE IS SHE?"
"Yer sister?!"
"YES! You said you were going to take her from the dungeon and put her somewhere safe. What, did you put her in your own dungeon?! IN YOUR OWN HAREM?!"

The tiny girl grasps your shoulder, and pulls you even closer.
"I won't ask again, WHERE IS SHE?!"

Sister.
Dungeon.

Hey, that reminds you of something you found in Gallete. A dragon, chained up in a dungeon, with a much bigger and scarier dragon trying to get to her. She called the big dragon her 'sister'.

Sister.

"OOOOHHHH!" You slap your forehead. "THAT is what aye forgot. EUGH!"

You might need more of Madeleine's healing tonic, soon. Her punch feels like being rammed by a galleon, it does.

"ANSWER ME!"
"Ey, Ey. Cool it, Lass." You stand up, dusting off your once-clean suit. "No hard feelin's here. The lass is in the care of a very well-trained martial artist. Ye sure yer the same dragon I met in Gallete?"

"SHOW ME!"
"Okay! Okay, but, err, be warned. It's gonna take a couple hours to get the-"

Within an instant, she has transformed back into her primordial state.
Oh yes, those memories certainly seem to be flooding back to you now.

With a swoop, she picks you up by the shirt! There's a massive gust of wind as she takes to the skies!

"A-aye! Okay!" You're not used to traveling via dragon. So this is all going to be new to you. "When we get there! Aye'll scream twice!"

--

CLOMP!
Kathunk!

...

CLOMP!
Kathunk!

"Very good!" A much bustier, sexier, and maybe just superior version of Atsuko laughs with glee. "That's the seven-hundred block you've chopped for the day! Let's get a drink, and we'll get the last three hundred done!"
"K..Kill me.." An exhausted dragon folds over her giant cutting axe.

That would be a swell plan, if it weren't for a certain lump of a person slamming into the ground right next to the hide-out.

Then a tiny girl descending to Earth.

>H-Hi guys.

Guys, my connection is really start to drop. I hate doing this with only five story-posts, but if I don't wrap-up soon, we may not reach a place where I can pause.

So with that in mind.

>M-mind if we drop in?
>Oh god I need a drink.

Writing last post of the night.

That said, if you guys want to try to keep the thread alive, I would continue. Be warned: I am not going to have time to do that for the next day or two unless I'm really lucky. If you want to try the biggest bump-day ever, feel free to.

You slowly pull yourself out of the crater created by the impact of your facial cavity.

"M-" You start to think of a witty comeback. "Mind if we drop in?"

"Ugh, you're terrible, Jack." Akiko half-smiles. The fox-woman drops the massive lumber-felling tool and steps over to the little girl.

"Sister!" The white-haired girl immediately steps past Akiko, leaving her to pout.
"Sis?!" The dragon-girl recoils slightly when her sister grab her around the waist. She quickly returns the hug.

Oh god, you need a drink. This can wait. The alcohol in your pocket is calling you.

"What are you doing here? I thought you were watching father!"
"Father hasn't changed, it's YOU that I'm worried about." The tiny girl squeezes her sister in a way that you can tell is uncomfortable for her. It would be bone-crushing to any normal human, if they could break bones here.

"But, I thought that father was weary- and"
"Who cares." The tiny girl pulls away, "I'm sick of watching him, I want to watch you."

"But- the forest." The dragon girl squeaks as her sister grabs her into another hug.

You squeak as Akiko manages to re-adjust your spine.

"What are you doing out here, anyway?!" The white-haired girl spins to face you and Akiko. "Why are you forcing her to toil the Earth like some serf?! She's a proud dragon! She has no need for such labors!"

"Sis, please." The taller girl tries to distract her sister. "It's fine, Akiko says that it builds chara- charac-"

Her face blanks for a second.

"It builds caricature." She smiles, proudly. "I think."

"This is what you've been doing?!" The tiny girl grimaces, "You've been taking advantage of my poor ditzy sister for free labor?!"
"I'm not ditzy.."

"No, no. It's training!" Akiko smiles the biggest you've ever seen her smile. "Right Jack?"

"R-right! Training! Gettin' them fine-tuned movements in!"
Huh, you didn't realize it, but you've drunk your entire flask within the last five minutes. How about that?

Okay everyone, sorry for the rather short thread.

My job is now 8-5, no exceptions. Before I had tons of flexibility and could therefore get lots done in a short amount of time. Even come home and do some chores before starting a thread.

Sorry to say, but this might take a lot of my sails. Let's see if I get used to it and everything might go back to normal.

But in any case, I"ll talk to you all next time. Keep thread however you like it, and I"ll try to either come back or start a new one some other time. Keep an eye on my twitter. Thanks.
