>Previously on Spartan-II Quest...
Damien-032, One if the first Spartans to be created by the UNSC was stealthily inserted into the massive canyon covering the planet Coryner. Loman's Canyon.

Damien's primary mission is to destroy the Insurrectionist complex. His secondary mission is to discover the purpose of the facility and to gain whatever insight into their operations he can.

After a quick skirmish with an enemy sniper Damien decides to infiltrate deep into the complex via the cave tunnels

With a simple thought, you activate the auxiliary optics embedded into your helmet. The darkness of the caves is soon illuminated in a dark green filter. You see various shapes scatter and scurry away as you quickly advance through the tunnels. Your vision has been largely enhanced by your augmentations, darkness isn't an issue as much as it used to be. But the light and thermal imaging provided by your helmet are unparalleled and a blessing.

So far you've only encountered twisting pathways and empty caverns. You half expected the area to be crawling in enemy elements. The lack of a guard or any form of surveillance while appreciated, worries you greatly. Then again you don't expect much from the insurrectionist. While you advance through the tunnels at a light jog (for a spartan) you bring up a briefing on the insurrectionist of Coryner.

The rebels rooted on the planet Coryner are mainly composed of former miners and cargo haulers. When a policy change by the Colonial Government on Coryner passed legislation with the support of several megacorps, it severely reduced and cut the pay of the mine and transport workers. The pay was to be diverted towards accruing shipments of exoskeletons that would dramatically increase the mining of valuable ores. This combined with the negligence of the lower class caused the first rebellion on Coryner in Titanium Mine Sprawl 12 or the TMS-12 Incident

You slide down an incline, knocking up dust and debris while searching for more information. Did ONI have a name to the insurrectionist group? A leader?

(1/3)
>>
As you follow your HUD compass through the tunnels, words and images scroll past your vision as you will it

After the first rebellion, sedition spread like fire. Reparations and apologies came too late and only fueled the fire. Several weeks after TMS-12 ONI discovered that the man who led the rebellion was killed during the incident. The insurrectionist named themselves after him. From that day they were known as Kane's Angels. Even without their leader, the Angels seem to move and operate above and beyond the level of simple rebels. This has lead ONI to speculate that their is elements either off planet or hidden on he world guiding the actions of the Angels.

You leap near the end of the incline and tuck into a roll. The compass on your HUD tells you that there are only 200 meters towards the remnants of the mine below the complex. If the measurements were correct you should be able to plant some of the C-12 there. The resulting explosions will destabilise the caves and cause massive cave-ins. Following them would be the destination of the C-12 in the building. This group of "Angels" would be stranded and separated.

You slow down some as the distance shortens and your vision is illuminated by massive derelict spotlights. They flicker on and off briefly before having a long period of off time. This area carries the mark of intensive mining operations. The walls are marred and scarred by industrial tools, minecarts lay on their sides gathering dust and rust, abandoned ores strewn through the area. You hold your DMR before you as you approach the cave mouth.

(2/3)
>>
You stand in a tunnel overlooking the abandoned mines. Below you lie defunct vehicles, destroyed signs asking for helmets to be worn at all times, rusted through tracks and their accompanying minecarts, a cannibalized exoskeleton, small shacks, and beyond the mine lies your first target.

The main elevator that carries the people and materials up into the complex where they can take them to cargo trucks. You should be able to access the complex major through the shaft. All you have to do is bypass or destroy the rebels guarding it.

You spot fifteen rebels lounging about in the general area of the elevator. Men sit upon overturned trucks, some sit in groups drinking alcohol and smoking, the more attentive and serious of their numbers yell at them to get back to work and they break off into smaller groups and pairs. A group of five activate their flashlights and push out into the darkness of the mine, Two groups of three men remain by the elevator, the rest of the men board the next elevator and ascend into the complex.

You examine your surroundings to see what are your options. A somewhat derelict lift still rests beside you and the track extends towards the middle of the abandoned mine. You could ride it there and expedite your infiltration. You could also climb down into the darkness and work your way past the patrol and towards the elevator. There's also the option of using the stalactite as a way to bypass everything and drop onto the shaft of the elevator.

You drag your eyes back up to the ceiling of the cavern. Numerous stalactites hang from the ceiling like bats. They extend from your position and only stop where the elevator starts. Your HUD tells you it'll be a good 200-meter drop to the floor of the mines. You focus on the structures and your HUD reveals the wear and tear of time on many of them. You can easily plot out a course from here and certain stalactites are illuminated leaving a bread crumb trail of sorts. The light armour you wear and relatively light loadout won't too much of an issue. The only problem being whether you can apply just the right amount of force or move fast enough without disturbing them.

Only one way to find out.

Dr. Halsey said Spartans are not supposed to be deployed for solo operations, but ONI and Admiral-guy approved of it. If we succeed this op in stealth or close enough to it that'll probably change their opinions, and throw us (a proven solo-operator) at the stuff coming next.

As referring what the admiral said before:
>You know about Harvest, you know what is coming; what is already here.
>>
>>49102792
Well, anon, what we need to do is find out a way to increase our bonuses.
This is generally the solution to most problems. +3 isn't bad.

But +5 or even +4 would be intensely better.

Not sure how I feel about potentially being thrown into solo operations at them but we just gotta be careful.
Very careful. After all we already "know" how solo spartan operators usually turn out.
>>
You holster your DMR onto your back and take a few steps back. You breathe in, then out. In. Out

You run and leap onto your first stalactite. You quickly grab the formation and position your body to grab the next. A few small pieces of it tumbles down from your grasp but you ignore them and move to the next. As you quickly scale your way across the ceiling ensuring that the second you touch one stalactite you're already positioning for the next, a scene flashes before you.

"MOVE! MOVE! MOVE! GO! GO! GO!" CPO Menendez screams at your procession of cadets. Your small arms hang onto the bars above a vast pool of mud and dirt, muscles screaming and protesting in pain. Raynor further behind you, John in the front, and you slightly behind him and several other children. You hear Raynor fall behind you ignore his screams as you continue on and the burning sensation increases.

You finally reach the final stalactite and swing yourself onto the bars surrounding the elevator. You look up and make sure that no elevator is coming down. Then turning you survey the cavern you left behind.

It seems none of the insurrectionists notice your feat as you completely circumvented their defenses without alarm. The group in the mine slowly and inattentively patrol it and the six men guarding the elevator have yet to move.

You look back up to the shaft and think. It'd take you a couple of minutes to scale up to the first floor of the right tower. You could also keep moving up until an elevator stops your progress.

Second. If we do it fast enough we won't break stealth.

And maybe we can get something important, like an ID card in case they have that kind of defense.
>>
>>49103202
Yup, the first bomb has to be placed in the shaft anywhere above the first floor because Ideally, you'd want the elevator to be below you to ensure it doesn't survive the blast

You reach into one of the two satchels on your body suit. You unclip the covering and pull out a charge. You scale slightly further for a moment before standing on a maintenance rung. You push the charge into the exposed rock wall and it digs deeply into the wall. You prime the charge by keeing in the activation code

2525. The year you broke past the limits of the human body and became something more.

You close your satchel and begin climbing towards the first floor. After hopping back it forth between maintenance rungs, struts, and digging into the wall where you could you spot a large grey door with the roman numeral for one emblazoned on it in bright yellow.

You stand on the edge of the door and dig your fingers into it. After a few moments of pressure the door begins to give and with your new found purchase you pry the door open.

With the door open you are able to see the first floor of the left building. You stand on the upper floor of what appears to be a garage. In front of you is a room filled with computers. Insurrectionist attends the screens filled with the blueprints to various vehicles. The men and women here are dirty and clad in overalls and mining helmets. Remnants of the mine below? You begin to count their number and end with the number fifteen.

You duck behind a railing and press yourself against it. The last thing you want is to be spotted by the utility crew. You inch towards the left and peer out the large dirty glass window. Within you see a large number of Warthogs, mongoose bikes, cargo trucks, and civilian vehicles. It appears you've found the motor pool. A large garage door opens and more vehicles filter in, revealing behind them the parking lot. Inside is filled to the brim with Kane's Angel's as they mill about. Some make small repairs to vehicles and weapons, talking to one another, sparring and practising with their automatic weaponsYou notice a large number of heavily armed insurrectionist staying to themselves. These rebels are much more well-equipped and hold military grade weapons. Many of the angels either avoid them or give them fear filled gazes.

As you watch them go about their routines you begin to think. You could try to take out the utility crew now. You look among them and see that they only carry small pistols and wrenches. The lack of noise in the center beyond the typing of keyboards and the utility crew themselves means you won't have to worry about sound. You look onto a computer and in the top right corner you see.

EMERGENCY LOCKDOWN.

The words have a rectangular indent around them leading you to believe that it can be activated from here. You look beyond the center and notice a door that says

Your bodysuit doesn't have advanced cyber warfare attachments as it can't handle anything at that level. If you can get into one it'll begin an automatic download into the black box in your helmet.

The question is

Do you need this data? Is there anything useful there?

You examine the room from your slightly elevated position. Most of the utility crew crowd around terminals and argue back and forth about the schematics on screen, others take a short reprieve and drink from steaming mugs. You eye a lone terminal and look at your palm. Pathways etched onto the fingers and palm indicates where your suit can make contact with most terminals to consume their data. Testing revealed that in order to bypass the need for an expanded suit, creating cyber ware into the suit that can do simple hacks would be more efficient to the field operator. A utility worker passes the terminal and you brush the thought aside. There might not be any valid information to steal from this location.

Your hand hovers over your silenced M7 Submachine Gun as you eye your path. You carefully begin to creep down the stairs, eyes shifting between each of the utility workers, looking for any sign of movement. You press yourself against the back of a terminal.

"LIKE I SAID! THE TRUCK NEEDS A NEW FUCKING ENGINE!" A worker yells as you creep past him without his knowledge.

"AND I TOLD YA ILLIETARE ASS THAT WE JUST NEED SOME NEW FLUIDS?

"ITS ILLITERATE YOU DUMB FUCK!"

You quickly dive beneath a group of dead terminals just the perfect size to hide your new frame as you hear a pair of footsteps approaching you from behind.

"So we just need to hold out for a few more days and the rest of the supplies will be here. From there we can-" The man stops talking to his comrade as he stops in front of a door. He pulls out a key card and swipes it through the adjacent lock. The two men walk past into what appears to be a smaller office. You glimpse another staircase towards the right of the room before the door shuts.

Crawling out of your hiding space you stay low and continue towards the reactor room. Like the other door, this one requires a key card. Luckily for you, ones on the way. As the man walks towards the reactor you slink back and wait for the right moment.

You were already moving. As the door is slamming to a close you're sliding across the floor, body suit killing any discernable noise and through the door the moment it closes.

You rest into a one knee crotch with your hand hover above your M7 ready to disengage the magnet lock and pull it into action

Purpose of this base, location of prison/internment area for captured people, what the keycard has and doesn't have access to, also these >>49105614

You dash forward, the hum and whine of the miniature reactors embedded into the walls masking your already muffled steps. You quickly kick him behind the knees and he falls

"What th-" You silence him by immediately putting him in a chokehold. The man struggles and tries to scream but you shift to a one-armed choke and muffle him with your free hand.

"If you want to live, relax." You order him and as your voice is projected and augmented by your helmet the man stiffens but stops fighting all the same. "Do you understand?" He nods. "Good. Now I'm going to let your mouth free. Don't. Scream." As you free your hand and the grip on his neck some you feel him drawing in a long breath.

You quickly pull the combat knife from your chest and stab him just enough to draw blood.

"Do not test me."

"I-I wasn't going to scream! H-honest!."

"Quiet." You drive the knife just a little deeper and he bites his tongue. You press your chin down on the small button allowing for long range communications with the Admiral.

"What is the purpose of this base."

"R-resupply and arming. We take the broken shi-" He catches himself before he curses. "Stuff! I mean stuff! We take the broken stuff and fix it. We also stockpile the majority of the armaments of the Angels military gear here."

"Where do you keep the weapons?"

"T-the motor pool. They're loaded onto trucks for safe keeping and a quick escape."

"What is the layout to the building?"

"T-the basement is where the old mine is, on the first floor is the motor pool, second and third floor of this building is the living quarters, fourth floor the old offices and the top floor is where we keep the chopper."

"Are there any terminals in the old offices?"

"Y-yeah but we don't use em anymore. Boss said they were still plugged into the network. We burned them."

"Boss?"

He goes silent for a moment and you respond by choking him harder with your other arm. He struggles and fights for a moment until he coughs out

(1/?)
>>
"R-R-R-Riley-" You ease up and he gasps for a breath. "R-Riley Anderson. He's our boss here. Been the boss for a month now. Old one died in a raid."

"What about the second building? What purpose does it serve?"

"It's the actual supply depot. Food, water, clothes, medicine. We keep the majority of it there as well as the living quarters for the Fallen Angels. Our best men."

"Where does your keycard lead?"

"I can go to the motor pool, every floor in this building for maintenance, and only the first floor of the depot. Only the fallen can go as they please from there."

"Any prisoners?"

"We did catch a few militiamen trying to worm their way in, we also kidnapped an official's daughter and the few miners who didn't join us in the second complex. Terry said we should kill em but Riley wants every man we can get.

"Thank you for your cooperation."

"A-Are you going to let me go? I-I-I can be a mole! Sneak my way into-" You cut him off as you pull him hard against you and continue you choking him.

"Did you hear that command?" You ask as the man struggles against you.

"Copy that 032." Admiral Johan's clipped voice comes through.

"What do you advise?"

"Finish placing the charges and prepare for evac. The site isn't as important as we were hoping."

Man these insurrectionists are dumb. If someone chokeholds you they're not making you a mole.
>>
>>49106572
ONI sure is cold.

"Command there are prisoners within the complex." The man claws at your body suit. Dirty nails simply sliding off

"We are well aware 032." Silence reigns as you expect him to continue. "One man in 032." He finally adds.

"What about their leader Riley. Is he a VIP?"

"Negative 032. We know of this Riley Anderson. Small time. The man before him was more important. He can burn with the rest of them."

"Command I may have also found a secret room. I saw two men entering and the insurrectionist didn't seem to know of it or he kept it a secret from me. How copy?" Your comms is filled with radio silence as you await further instructions

"032."

"Admiral."

"Find this room and quickly. Determine it's purpose and finishes placing your charges."

"Sir."

"And one more thing. Repeat after me."

"One man in. One man out" You say in unison

"Get the job done Spartan. Admiral Johan out."

Your radio goes completely silent as does the insurrectionist. You don't know when he passed out, quite frankly, you don't care. You sling him over your shoulder and walk around the reactor room. Several small power sources are embedded into each side of the wall. Indecipherable titles attached to them. You spot another staircase locked by a keycard and its when you nearly make a full circle hat you find a set of lockers pushed against a bare wall.

ERIC
WARREN
JIMMY
GEORGE
PAUL

You place the man against the lockers and find his tag.

JIMMY

You rifle through Jimmy's pockets and retrieve his key card. Tapping against the locker it springs open and you stuff him inside. You then walk back around the room and hide a C-12 around the biggest power source you could find. The explosive blends in perfectly and your trained eyes just barely make out the slight glow of a primed explosive.

>Take the stairs up towards the platform that leads to the second building. Maybe you can find a way in through there.

You make your way back towards the repair center. You crouch low and slide the keycard through its slot. The moment before it pings in confirmation you spring into action and when its half open you're already fully through and hugging against the back of a terminal. The number of insurrectionist in the repair center have lowered slightly. They now stand at the modest number of ten. You see a small group of them climb up a set of stairs on the right side of the room and leave through a door marked;

MOTOR POOL

The rest of the workers either idly hover over a terminal or make small talk regarding events on the planet.

"You saw the game last night?"
"Ravagers never stood a damn chance."
"Wonder how long we're going to be staying here?"
'Why leave? We got it good."
"I miss Kane."

You largely filter out their talking while you examine the door. Jimmy didn't mention this place at all, or it just escaped his mind. There's also the chance that he simply didn't know about it. You didn't get the impression that he was a smart man. You look at the keycard in your hand and back to the door.

You could probably tear your way into the room with enough time. It definitely won't be quiet. You'd have to take out everyone in the room first. You survey the area around it looking for some structural flaw or exploitable feature. You notice a series of vents at the top of the room. They lead towards the staircase you entered into and another trail towards the reactor room. It might be a tight fit but you should be able to get through. Hopefully.

Speaking of the reactor room, you did see some power tools in there. They might expedite any entrance you decide to make, or you can try to cut your way into the room.

>Take everybody out and then try to smash your way into the room.
