Littmann or bust. If its under a hundred it sucks. I know because I own that exact model. It's a back up.

I know Littman is expensive but it's worth it to differentiate lung sounds and hear arrhythmias. You probably don't need a cardiology. I assume nursing school? If your first job is an ICU grab one otherwise a classic or a lightweight. (in a weird/distinct color, spend the extra so it doesn't walk)

But real talk Omae. The only info you need while waiting for a doc wagon is your ABCs. Otherwise on your feet lose the weight carry a trauma patch. You got a chopper evac the exam can wait til safety.

Airway
Breathing
Circulation

CPR is based on this. You can't get air in, can't breath, heart not pumping you are not working. Get 02 in the patient. Stem the trauma.

A pneumothorax is a possible injury in a gun fight. With a sucking chest wound the lungs could collapse. Almost certainly causing difficulty with breathing. An amputation or a nicked artery compromises the body's circulatory system. The red stuff isn't just for vampires keep it inside.

I worked as a CNA for a while. During my certification we spent time at a really shitty nursing home. The conditions there made me definitely want to work at a hospital, so I started volunteering at one near me. Then I got a job as a night shift CNA there through word of mouth while I was at school. I'm now on my last week of my GN orientation period. I'm feeling mostly comfortable taking the full load, but I'm a little nervous to be without my preceptor next week. Congrats on getting into a hospital though.

You fell for the scary black baby-killing assault rifle meme
That's a semi-automatic sporting rifle called an AR-15 designed for the civilian sporting market. Note the fire select switch only has "safe" and "semi" options, no full auto.
You can buy full auto weapons in the USA but there are a bunch of legal hoops to jump through and they're incredibly expensive; an AR-15 will cost $500-2000 depending on brand and options, a real M16 will cost $20-30,000

Very basic overview here: http://www.assaultweapon.info/

Would a doctor/nurse be permanently on the night shift or do you rotate? Mining industry generally does something like 1 week days, 1 week off, 1 week nights, 1 week off
>>
>>48952170
Microelectronics industry generally don't rotate their night or weekends shifts.
>>
>>48952108
Another unlearned anon here from yurop, what kind of legal loops would you have to jump through to acquire one? As the ban (as I understood it) is limited to civilians, would it involve obtaining some sort of permit or membership of an association that uses automatic weapons for sport? Or do you buy the parts and assemble them yourself?
>>
>>48949134
I normally like seeing the inner workings of things but that... is ugly.
>>
>>48952040
I'm a really big dude. Over 6 foot and almost 300 pounds. So yeah, I'd probably be a Troll or an Orc if I goblinized.
>>
>>48952300
I'm not an expert since I don't have that kind of money to spend so haven't studied it, but the basics are that the pool of civilian automatics was frozen in 1986 so if you want a particular gun you need to wait until someone is selling it.

You need to pay some extra taxes, get a background check and get a sign off from local law enforcement. I don't know if there's a separate registration or the background check and law enforcement sing off is a defacto registration

Here are some example prices: http://www.onlythebestfirearms.com/nfa1.html
For comparison, I bought a semi-auto FN-FAL for $750 while these guys are selling the auto for $20,000 which is less than I thought it would go for honestly
>>
>>48952300
Lot's a paperwork, background checks, pictures and thumb printing, and A LOT of money to pay for it.
It doesn't seem like much when I put it that way, but it takes a long time and it puts you on SO MANY government watchlists.
>>
>>48952526
The government watchlists aren't a problem if you don't do anything fucky with the weapon, though.
Sure, the US government is sliding down the tubes, but one thing they're not doing yet is rounding up or even targeting survivalists, weapons enthusiasts and preppers - if they did, this time would be just about right to set off a civil war. No matter who wins the elections, too, those watchlists are going to matter less and less - Hillary is too shackled to the gun lobby to discourage their best customers, and Trump has no idea that white Republicans are capable of committing crimes or that Mexicans are capable of not deserving to be shot with a legally owned HMG.
>>
>>48948936

>>48952170
Some facilities rotate but it seems pretty uncommon. I personally have never encountered it. Hospitals typically use 12 or 8 hour shifts. 7a-7p-7a or 7a-3p-11p-7a. I wouldn't mind the crazy oil/mine schedule where you get a week off. But you have A. Unions of mom's who need consistency. And B. Having consistency of care givers is important.

Residents tend to work batshit crazy hours and sleep in the hospital. Something like 60-80 hour weeks.
>>
>>48953605
So is it true what they said in Scrubs? Doctors get it on in the hospital in the bunk rooms?
>>
>>48952170
For me personally I work 7p-7a. Generally around three nights a week, but if I work more then I get overtime.

Different pistols for different applications and different styles/tastes.

You'll want a defense handgun, something for target, a cheap plinkster, perhaps a few old historical guns you want to pick up, a few you like the look of or want to check out, a revolver or three, etc.

It's very easy to buy a lot of guns and for people who enjoy firearms and shooting, it's not a ridiculous thing at all. Different guns do different things. A Browning Hi-Power is not the same as a Kel-Tec PF9 which is not the same as a Britarms, etc.

So what's the best generalist/all-purpose pistol?

Say you get a premonition you'll need a pistol tomorrow, but have no idea what for (defence, unexpected competition, showing off to a girl into guns, whatever), what would you bring?

I have my personal preferences, but honestly probably a Glock or a Browning design in 9mm. Reliable, easy to shoot, cheap to feed in decent calibre that's proven to be alright at most things and can shoot pretty much everything you throw at it.

I'd go with a 9mm, if you want to introduce a girl to shooting. Glock 17 or 19, Walther PPQ, H&K VP90, S&W M&P 9 are all good options for striker-fired guns. Otherwise, if you're more into classic guns there're the CZ-75, the new CZ's with impossible to remember names, Beretta M92, Beretta Px4, FN FNS, SIG P226/P228, etc. Personally I love the PPQ's trigger.

Depends on the state in which you live in really. Some states are very gun friendly and are fairly easy and painless to buy one while others are very anti-gun and go to extreme lengths to drive the thought of being a gun owner from peoples minds.

What for?

Not that I'm anti-gun or anything, but what made you want to buy so many? I mean, you've only got two hands.
>>
>>48977887

Some are collectables. A few I rotate for different carry. Others are just for plinkers

One I traded an AK for.

A few I bought because they were on sale and fuck yea sale gun.

Two guns I bought because movies and I liked the move and the gun so I got the gun from the movie.

And others I wanted "That type of gun".

So It's a collection.

AR 15. Actual M4s are military only. Most commercial ARs come in a 16 inch barrel, anything shorter and it becomes a Short Barreled Rifle with a shit ton of restrictions. And anything with burst or full auto is also a massive pain in the ass to get and expensive as fuck too. In fact, there are no new full autos for sale in America, everything has to be pre-1986. All these "assault weapons" (made up term) are normal semi-automatic rifles with plastic furniture that looks like military stuff. And you want to know why?Because it's cheap and modular that way. It would be like complaining that cars aren't built out of steel and everything is a dangerous race car because it has a spoiler or more efficient power to weight ratio. And before "muh hunting, no need for that" ARs are A: Popular with hog hunters and smaller game hunters and B: cheap as fuck due to a number of reasons, primary one being these things have been made for like 50 years now in America, vets get out and like shooting what they're familiar with which leads to companies springing up to meet that demand who buy old tooling from military contractors or the contractors themselves selling rifles when not building orders for the military, and C: 5.56 is a better choice for home defense due to variety of rounds, terminal ballistics, very low recoil and sheer weight of fire. Anyone who says a shotgun is the only thing you need is ignorant. Shotguns are great, if you hit them and can take the recoil. Buckshot doesn't spread out significantly (i.e. about 1/3rd of a meter) until 100 meters out. In the same room, you have to be just as accurate as a rifle. And I'd take 30 rounds of m193 ammo over any 12g every time. That way if I miss, I can quickly follow up in the time it takes for me to squeeze the trigger again.

Why even post this?

When you're on AD you generally just take what's issued. If you're not part of a BCT you could have the option to bring your own, but paper tigers tend to frown upon more than one personal weapon. If you're lucky enough to be part of a team that has their own armorers then you shut up and let the chief tell you how to suck eggs.

However, anyone who has served wouldn't use their rank on 4chan as part of their trip. So yeah.

Back in 1934 the government made it so that Full-Auto Weapons, as well as a few other things had to be registered.
Then in 1986 or so, the government closed the registry, but transfers of those 280,000 or so machineguns are still legal. There are a ton of restrictions on said transferable machineguns, you need approval of your municipalities chief of police, and to be able to show paperwork for the gun at the request of any cop for one, but still legal.
