You are Kusajishi Riku, Captain of the Seireitei's Ninth Division and the aunt of a certain pain-in-the-ass shinigami substitute. To be perfectly honest you're not sure why Ichigo's never told his friends about the spiritual world, and the danger it presents to them if they're not careful. Maybe he thinks he's protecting them, but after about two centuries you've developed a bit more of a distanced perspective. While it's not always better that way, it does make these sorts of purely rational decisions that much easier for your lack of personal investment.

Instead of remaining in your gigai, you have Tenkotsuki dissolve it into a pile of vibrant, saffron-colored ginkgo leaves that dance away on the light autumn breeze. Ichigo's classmates watch as the Karakura High uniform familiar to them is replaced by your sleeveless white Captain's haori, tucked through a blue silken sash. Aside from Yasutora, who saw this before when he joined Ichigo and Tatsuki in invading the Soul Society, all of the teens present glance nervously at your swords. Tenkotsuki in her hardwood sheath polished with gold dust, and Rosa's blade in its austere black lacquer, must together make a powerful impression on modern Japanese youths who may have never seen someone carry a sword before in their lives.

“The shinigami exist in a world parallel to this one,” you explain quietly, having ensured your audience's attention. “You could call it the afterlife, as living humans' souls end up there when they die. We refer to it as the Soul Society, and to us it's our home. Some of us are even born there, much as you all were born here.”

“Is it even possible for dead people to have babies?” Asano asks, seemingly confused at what to your mind is a simple concept. “And what happens when someone dies over there? Does that make them like... double dead?”

You shake your head in disbelief. “It's part of a cycle. Die in one world, and you're reborn in the other. The only variable is how your soul arrives in its new home. It's our duty as shinigami to regulate the cycle of death and rebirth, by helping souls who linger here move to the Soul Society and by sending back souls from our world when there's a disaster in yours.”

“So the World Wars were probably a tough time?” Mizuiro asks curiously. Of Ichigo's classmates it seems to be the normally quiet boy that's followed the conversation most easily.

“Worst time on the job in two centuries,” you agree, “by far. But we found ways to cope.”

Orihime, the orange-haired girl with the scariest powers you've ever seen in a human, steps closer and furrows her brow in thought. “Two centuries... meaning you were around during the Restoration? So that means you've met all sorts of interesting people, right? Ooh, I bet you dated one of those famous swordsmen back when you were younger, didn't you!? And when he died you probably took part of his uniform as a memento, to remember a love that would never last... how tragic...”

She seems to tear up a little as she holds your hands between hers, and you feel your jaw slowly dropping at how close her rant came to actual truth. A bit wild on the whole 'tragic love' angle, but still. “It must have been so hard for you!”

“Come on, Hime!” Chizuru laughs nervously, moving to adjust the red frames of her glasses despite the fact that they're sitting right where they should be. “This whole thing's too crazy, there's no need to make it sound even crazier.”

“Actually,” you muse as your hand finds your sash, “this belonged to Okita Sōji. We weren't lovers or anything, but he taught me Tennen-Rishin Ryu and was surprisingly soft-spoken for such an accomplished killer. Way less strict than everyone said he'd be.”

Chizuru's laughter stops as soon as she realizes you're not joking.

“Now then, this is the important part,” you continue, sitting in the shade near the building's ventilation fans. “So listen up. Karakura town is what we refer to as a Jūreichi, a place that's enriched with the same particles and energy that make up the Soul Society called reishi. Living in it sometimes affects humans in unexpected ways. This was accelerated in your cases by two additional factors: Kurosaki Ichigo and Ishida Uryū.”

“Explain,” Yasutora insists quietly. You can tell you've piqued the stoic young mountain of a man's interests with this. So you do as he asks.

“Humans with natural spiritual powers can use their powers better when the reishi is denser,” you explain carefully, “which is why the Kurosaki and Ishida families are here. Yasutora, you and Arisawa had your own growth essentially jump-started by being around Ichigo more often.”

“What about us?” Chizuru demands. “I don't have any weird powers, like lightning or magical swords. I'm just...”

“A raging lesbian?” Muzuiro asks, albeit somewhat disinterestedly.

Chizuru smacks Asano upside the head for snickering too loudly at the comment. “I mean, the rest of us are normal! So why involve us at all?”

“Inoue developed powers more slowly,” you reply firmly, “and the rest of you can see me. The fact that you can see spirits at all means your own powers are developing as well. It's more a matter of time at this point.”

“If we move out of the city though...”

“You'd be dead within the first six months,” you interrupt Chizuru's line of thought. “Shinigami aren't the only spirits out there, and some of the others actually hunt humans with spiritual power. If you move to an area with less reishi, you may not be able to defend yourselves.”

“That monster she killed just now,” Yasutora explains to his friends. “It was a kind of spirit called a hollow.”

“And the one that attacked us all a while ago, the one Tatsuki beat,” Inoue adds, despite the fact that she shouldn't be able to remember that event. “That was a hollow too?”

“It was,” you confirm. “Part of our duty is to purify the souls of hollows, allowing them to pass on.”

“Purify them?” Asano asks in utter non-comprehension. “If they eat people, why would you want to purify them?”

“That's a deeply human way of looking at it,” you sigh quietly, looking Asano in the eyes. “Which isn't to say wrong, just... understandably shortsighted, and something we as shinigami can't afford. Every hollow was once a human soul, no different from any of you, who couldn't move on for some reason. When we purify a soul not only is the balance maintained, but it serves as our apology for not being there to help them pass on in the first place.”

“Some of them, particularly the old ones, can be disturbingly decent people.”

“What does that actually mean?” Mizuiro asks.

“It's complicated,” you wave your hand dismissively. “I'm here to give you the introduction course, but if you ever want your PhD in ghost pseudoscience I'll try and explain arrancars to you.”

“So what do you intend to do, Miss Kusajishi?” Inoue asks you, uncertainty in her voice.

“I think you know what this means, Yasutora,” you conclude with a solemn nod. “We have to go back.”

Yasutora looks at you with the eyes of a man who's been handed a death sentence. “Do we?”

“Yup,” you nod. “The reishi there will help you all train, and I'll stand a better chance figuring out all your powers that way. So we have to go back.”

“Is it really that bad?” Asano asks nervously.

Yasutora shakes his head. “It's fine. But the people there...”

“Are what?” Asano interrupts, eager to hear what he's in for. “What are the people like?”

“Strong,” Yasutora tells him. “Frighteningly strong.”

“Well then!” you declare cheerfully, leading them off the roof. “Let's not waste time, then! And don't talk to me from here on. Remember, nobody else can see me when I'm in my spirit body.”

The best place to do this will probably be the Inari shrine, and it'll make a much better impression on the young humans to cross over to the Soul Society in a sacred place. Doing it on the roof of their high school through brute force may actually end with Mizuiro asking too many questions about how you can do such a thing. And with what little they know about hollows, that's not a conversation you want to have just yet.

“Why are we walking out of town?” Mizuiro asks, absolutely on-point.

“I'll open a portal at the shrine,” you explain carefully. “Actually, Yasutora?”

“Captain?”

“I need you to do me a favor,” you tell the large young man. “I want you to buy something for me.”

“You what now?” he asks.

“It's not like the places around here accept gold coins anymore,” you sigh, pointing at a nearby store you spotted as you were walking. “Don't worry, it's just a gift for a fellow Captain.”

A few minutes later you walk out of the pet store having forced Yasutora to buy a hairbrush meant for dogs. It's perfect for Komamura, and when Yasutora finally gets to the Soul Society it'll make a great gift.

"I bet this Captain friend of yours has a really bushy beard?" Orihime asks cheerfully. If only she knew...

"I can't get over the fact that we just bought a dog brush for a ghost," Asano mutters, glancing back over his shoulder at the store. "I mean, this is weird, right?"

"Very," you agree, pointing up a narrow path that leads up a grassy hill to the side of the road out of Karakura town. "This way."

The hot, muggy Japanese weather is alleviated somewhat as you walk through the trees, but the aggravating racket of the cicadas crying becomes that much worse as you walk further from the road and the air grows almost stiflingly still. Thankfully it doesn't take long to reach the shrine, and when you do the noise disappears abruptly.

"Hey, listen," Orihime speaks up, noticing the quietness that her friends failed to.

Chizuru looks around nervously. "It's too quiet here, this is creepy. It feels like we shouldn't even be here..."

"It's fine," you reassure her. "I'm friends with the proprietor."

"You mean the head priest?"

"No."

You eye one of the wooden torii carefully, considering your options for getting a bunch of untrained humans through the space between worlds without losing any of them. “Tenkotsuki, what do you think?”

“I believe we can work with this,” your zanpakuto tells you. “Open a garganta within this frame and I can stabilize it for you.”

“Who's Tenkotsuki?” Orihime asks curiously.

“My sword,” you explain calmly, opening a hole between the legs of the torii and expanding it to meet the edges of the frame so that Tenkotsuki can anchor it there. “All shinigami's swords have personalities, and I can talk to mine at will.”

“Weird,” Chizuru comments as she gazes into the inky void within the portal.

“Very. Follow me, everyone, and stay close.”

The void before you is split by a large, oblong platform of milky white energy, solid as bedrock beneath your footfalls. As you walk further into the void the platform expands forward, like a slowly widening series of ink blots forming into a functional bridge. A little more effort and you may have added handrails, but instead you opted for wide and solid.

A verbal warning here should suffice.

“Stay away from the edge,” you insist quietly, leading the small group of humans into the darkness.

There's a noticeable pause before Chizuru speaks up. “What happens if we fall off?”

You stop in place, glancing back over your shoulder rather ominously. “Don't fall off.”

The trip between worlds is uneventful, thanks to your precise control over the mass of reiatsu at your disposal. You forgot how much of a pain in the ass it is to do this sort of thing without resorting to hirenkyaku to cross the distance required near-instantly, but these kids need you to go more slowly for them. And it'd be awkward to have to explain to Ichigo why one of his friends ended up floating in the extradimensional void for all eternity.

After what feels like forever, maybe five whole minutes, you reemerge in the middle of the Ninth Division's training grounds. By now nobody around here even bats an eyelid at your abrupt appearance, though a few people notice a bunch of humans in civilian clothes following behind you. In a more private area in the training grounds, you find some familiar faces.

From a hammock suspended between two trees you spot Starrk shooting a plasticky-looking gun, aiming lazily at Lilynette with a wide-brimmed hat tipped low over his eyes and one arm stretched across his body. The suction cup-tipped darts whiz past the little arrancar, who seems smug in her evasive abilities: what she doesn't realize is that her partner's seemingly disjointed shots are sticking to the wall of a gardening shed behind her to spell “MORON” in precisely-formed capitals. You decide not to spoil Starrk's fun, as from your angle you can see him smiling from beneath the brim of his hat.

Halibel is on her own, moving in slow, deliberate circular steps as she carefully shifts the reiatsu concentrations throughout her body. When she notices you she turns and nods silently, revealing that she's unzipped her collar far enough to reveal a rare glimpse of her bone-clad chin. Apacci is nearby, in the middle of defending herself from an onslaught of blows from Mila Rose and Sung-Sun. She's using those cero shields of hers to intercept their swords, improving her speed and control with the technique while forcing her companions to learn how to work together for once.

The nostalgic sounds of a cello recording being played and hard wood being struck greet your ears, and walking a bit further towards your own quarters reveal Yoruichi training against a wooden man. Her fingertips, wrists, and elbows follow the familiar tune of Elgar's last and perhaps greatest concerto.

She strikes at the wooden man's wrists with her arms and its throat and stomach with vicious clawing blows, moving not quickly but deliberately, letting the cellist's tempo dictate her own. Similar to Halibel she focuses much more heavily on how her own reiatsu shifts and balances within her body as she executes each combination, more than exercise to your eyes... it's poetry in fluid, glorious motion.

A subtle metallic flash draws your attention to her throat, where she's suspended a tiny silver bell from her silken choker. It's almost more than you can handle, so predictably it leaves Chizuru powerless to control herself. She charges forward, a word escaping her lips that must be some weird modern term for lesbianism that you're not familiar with. That won't do.

With no hesitation at all in your mind you reach out with one hand and swipe your fingers to the side, not even bothering to say the name of the first Bakudō. Sheer willpower is more than enough to get the job done, and a visibly shocked Chizuru tumbles to the ground as she suddenly finds her arms wrenched behind her back and pinned in place. As you step over her, you kneel down to whisper a single word in a low, dangerous growl.

“Mine.”

“You know we have the 1965 Du Pre recording, right?” you interrupt Yoruichi's routine, after almost deciding not to do so. “Her interpretation is fairly definitive.”

“I know,” she replies. “This recording speaks to me more.”

Understandable. You were playing it for her after all, on what the audience that evening never knew was your fiftieth wedding anniversary.

"So what do you want us to do?" Yasutora asks, following close behind while his friends inspect Chizuru as she struggles against the spell to little avail.

“Sado, please explain reiatsu to your friends here,” you request, adopting an uncharacteristically polite tone. “I'm not sure I'd do a very good job, since I've never actually had to explain the basic concepts before.”

“Then I'm going to want to see what you can all do,” you continue, much louder this time. “Tailor my approach to each of your skillsets.”

As Sado tries to explain using as few words as possible, you wonder quietly whether you may have made a miscalculation here. The boy means well, and it's clear to you that he understands the concepts you've asked him to teach, but this is one case where maybe it'd be better if he were a wordy little bastard like Asano or Mizuiro.

As he teaches, you take a seat next to Yoruichi and watch. Her tone is quieter than you're used to from her, and it's immediately clear why when she begins to explain what's happened in the brief time you were gone.

“We got an official aftermath report,” she tells you solemnly. “It wasn't as bad as it could've been, but there were a few high-profile incidents you should know about.”

“Who bought it?” you ask quietly, steeling yourself for her response.

“Rangiku's reigai took out Shunsui's eye. He'll be fine though, and he and Ukitake managed to get her back, but it took a fair bit out of them. Komamura and the Old Man are also pretty badly drained, and ice-boy isn't conscious yet. Fourth expects him to be fine though. It's our Lieutenants who are in the worst shape.”

“How bad are we talking here?”

“Widespread injuries,” Yoruichi continues. “Mirai's reigai hit Lietuenant Kano in the chest, damaged his soul chain. He's still in critical condition and Retsu doubts he'll ever recover fully.”

“That's a hefty blow,” you mutter. “How is Tenth managing?”

“Kisuke sent Kira over to fill the gap, but they're reeling,” your wife admits. “It may take a while for the Division to recover. I've also had to suspend my own Lieutenant for now, since he was badly hurt. He'll be fine, but I'm not sure he was up to snuff. I might...”

“Yes?”

“... I might need to resort to Omaeda.”

“Well, at least nobody's dead,” you sigh, “so it could be worse.”

“It's worse,” Yoruichi tells you. “I saved this for last, because I know it won't be easy to hear.”

“Sasakibe... won't be returning to duty.”

Your heart skips a beat. The old man was a permanent fixture in the tight-knit circle of Lieutenants and had been for centuries, back to before your own tenure in the position under Yoruichi. For him to suddenly be gone is a sad reality that has an unexpectedly strong impact.

“How?”

“It was Kai's reigai,” she explains. “He used Kamitinbe's Bankai, managed to mangle Saskibe's right arm. But that's not the worst part... the old-timer released his own Bankai to counter it, and the hilt was destroyed.”

“You know what that means, Riku. He'll probably never wield a zanpakuto again.”

Kinda surprised Riku went "Mine" to Chizuru. I thought the name of the game with Riku and Yoruichi's relationship was how low-key it was supposed to be; when Yoruichi punched Kon I figured the "Mine" was for Riku's benefit and Kon never heard.

“Kisuke's pretty bullshit,” you observe calmly. “So I wouldn't count old mustache out so quick. I'm more confused about where Kai was hiding that kind of power.”

“I asked Rangiku what she knew,” Yoruichi admits, since presumably the report that was issued didn't go into much detail, “but all she could give me was a gibberish name: Kamitinbe nu Yā Ishigaki.”

“The stone walls of Kamitinbe's house,” you translate, to Yoruichi's mind surprise. “It's Yaeyama dialect. I'm from Okinawa, remember?”

“Fair point,” Yoruichi sighs. “Don't know why I was surprised. Anyway, it sounds like he had an elemental advantage, stone would do well against Sasakibe.”

“May be more than that,” you add. “Sounds like it came from the Yaeyama phrase for a gusuku, a fortified sacred site. Kinda like a castle.”

“So he crushed Sasakibe's arm and sword between two walls of stone, or something?”

“Seems that way.”

You stand up and stretch your limbs just as Sado finishes his slow, awkward explanation of reiatsu, glancing down at Yoruichi. “Thanks for the update. I'm going to get back to work.”

“Take good care of the kids,” she replies, standing and pulling on her haori. “I have work to get done myself.”

“I like the bell,” you mention with a smile.

“Not too much?”

“Just right.”

After she leaves, you join the teenagers. Chizuru seems to be making some progress breaking the spell on her own, which is actually kind of impressive.

"So, now we see what you can do so far."

“This is going to sound strange,” you tell Sado, “but I want you to hit me in the face. Yes, I'm sure.”

After a moment of contemplation the young man cracks you across the jaw, then clutches his fist. It's probably in a lot of pain: your body is too hard for a normal punch to have any other effect.

“I mean using your power, genius,” you sigh, pinching the bridge of your nose. “Emotional. Content.”

Sado takes a moment to activate his ability, transforming one arm into an oddly-colored appendage that reminds you more of a hollow's arm than a human's, and punches you again. This time it's accompanied by an outburst of reiatsu that absolutely confirms your belief that his power mimics that of a hollow's, and draws on his reiryoku with each blow. All it manages to do however is leave a tiny cut on your eyebrow, while seemingly hurting your attacker's arm from his knuckles all the way up to his shoulder.

“Better, but the energy is unfocused and your movement was slow,” you criticize what you've noticed about his technique rather than from the analysis of his power itself. With a flick of your finger you repair the damage to your face. “Your power is quite hollow-like, suited to powerful blows that draw from your reserves of spiritual power. But I feel like you have a lot of room to grow, across the board. Speed, stamina... this may not even be your power's completed form.”

“Now, Orihime,” you continue, “I want you to heal something.”

“But you just healed the little wound Sado managed to give you,” she observes nervously. “What do you intend for me to heal?”

You shrug out of the top half of your haori, baring your back as you turn away from her. “I want you to heal this wound.”

“It's an old scar,” she observes. “It looks like it hurt.”

“Yeah, yeah,” you snap, perhaps a little more forcefully than you intended. “Just try it, okay?”

“Ayame, Shun'ō,” she calls two of her faeries by name, “Sōten Kisshun, I reject!”

You can feel something happening... but nothing seems to change. For several seconds you get a sensation that something is trying to influence your body, but not making any progress. Eventually, one of the faeries perches on your bare shoulder.

“I'm sorry, Orihime,” she apologizes quietly. “I'm afraid Shun'ō and I can't do anything about this. I don't know what to tell you.”

“You mean you can't heal her?” Orihime asks, sounding dejected.

“It's not a problem,” you insist quietly, brushing Ayame from your shoulder so you can pull your haori back up to cover your back. “In fact I suspected as much. It seems your Sōten Kisshun has a fairly predictable limitation.”

“A limitation?”

You nod. “They can return something to a previous state, in essence rejecting an event that happened in the past... but they seem unable to revert that thing to a state that it was in before your powers awakened.”

“That scar is as old as I am. It's no wonder you couldn't heal it.”

“Looking at your hairpins you should have four more faeries,” you observe with a glance at Orihime's hair. “Show me.”

“Hanigiku, Baigon, Lily, Santen Kisshun I reject!” Orihime declares, and three of her tiny faeries manifest to form a triangular barrier. You throw a casual punch at the glowing triangle of energy to test it, and find that it resists the blow to your satisfaction. This could be a useful ability.

“Rejecting current events,” you observe. “Excellent. Now, that leaves one more?”

Orihime shifts her balance, seemingly uncertain. “Yes, Tsubaki.”

“Then let's see him,” you insist. “If it's an offensive ability don't worry, I can take anything you can dish out without breaking a sweat.”

“That sounds awfully presumptuous,” Mizuiro frowns, looking up from where Chizuru continues to wriggle on the ground.

“It's true though,” you counter. “You'll see why in a moment.”

Orihime frowns, and nods to you. “Tsubaki, Koten Zanshun I reject!”

A single faerie streaks forward, only to be caught between your finger and thumb. The tiny black and red man stares at you from behind a cloth facemask, seemingly as horrified at Orihime's attempt as you are frustrated by it.

“What are you doing, you silly woman!?” he demands. “That sort of half-assed attack is only going to get me killed!”

“I'm sorry! I'm sorry!” she replies repeatedly, bowing each time.

“Quit apologizing already, it makes me sick!”

“I'm sorry!”

"He's right," you agree as he returns to her hairpins. "You couldn't muster any killing intent. Without that, you shouldn't even try to use him like that... had I wished to I could have shattered his tiny little body from scalp to toes."

"I'll be more careful," Orihime bows quietly, and you rub the back of your head.

"That's fine," you sigh, "but I'd prefer it if you'd actually get some bass in your voice and commit to things. It'd serve you better in the long..."

"GOT IT!" Chizuru shouts, finally managing to break the binding spell and get to her feet. "Where's the brown women at?"

"Good job!" you applaud her effort. "That was called a Bakudō, there are 99 of them in increasing order of power. Many of them are used to bind a target."

"99?" she asks, excited about her success. "Which number was that? Twenty? Thirty?"

"One."

Her smile evaporates. "I see."

"In order to break it you must have gotten a feel for your own reiatsu," you reassure her. "It was good progress."

“Hainawa!” you declare, and a series of yellow chains spring forth from your hand to wrap around Chizuru's body. She drops to the ground again with a surprised yelp. “Now it's time for #4.”

“This is impossible!” she shouts in annoyance. “How am I supposed to get out of this?”

“Same way as the first one,” you shrug, before placing the same bind on each of them in turn. “I want you all to break out of this spell. Then you might have the basics down well enough to continue on to more specialized training.”

“And no rejection,” you tell Orihime with a sidelong glance. You hear a loud shout from back out in the training grounds, where it seems that Lilynette has finally noticed what Starrk was up to. You can even hear Apacci laughing about it from here. “Do it the hard way, builds character.”

What you can feel next is something you're less nonchalant about: Ichigo's reiatsu, coming closer. Eventually he makes a dramatic entrance, landing hard and kicking up a lot of dust. Tatsuki, Senna, and Rangiku aren't far behind, though it's only Ichigo who seems mad.

“I tried to stop them,” Rangiku apologizes. “But he's fast.”

“Focus on the training,” you remind Chizuru as her eyes wander, producing a squeak as you tighten Hainawa around her. “So, Ichigo what's up?”

“You brought my friends here!?” he demands, gesturing angrily. “Do you have any idea how hard I've tried to keep them out of this!?”

“I can guess,” you reply calmly as Tatsuki glances nervously between you and your nephew. “I made a call.”

“It wasn't your call to make!” Ichigo insists.

“I know what you're trying to do,” you admit to him with a frown, “and it's admirable. But do you remember a guy named Don Kanonji?”

Ichigo's jaw snaps shut, and Tatsuki shuts her eyes with a relieved sigh.

“It's too late now to keep your friends out of this world by hiding things from them. They've already begun developing powers, and their reiatsu puts them in danger. I don't expect they'll ever be able to handle Aizen or his followers, but this much can keep them safer.”

“I don't suppose I can argue the point?”

“Nope,” you reply. “It was my decision to make, and I did so.”

As Ichigo stomps off with Senna in tow, you can't help but noticed the reigai has a sword at her waist. It seems they've made some rapid progress. Tatsuki however stops to speak to you, watching carefully to see that Ichigo won't overhear.

“Thanks,” she nods quietly. “He can be stubborn when he thinks he's protecting people, so sometimes you just have to take the decision out of his hands.”

“I got this,” you smile. “You okay?”

“I've been working on refining my weird ability,” she tells you, “though it's a little hard to wrap my head around how it can work.”

“Rukia's been engaged, dealing with some of our wounded,” you muse. “I'll assign her to you when she's available.”

“Something wrong?”

After a moment, Tatsuki shakes her head. “No, it's nothing serious. Silly, actually, forget I said anything.”

“You didn't say anything,” you observe as Tatsuki turns away from you quickly and leaves.

Rangiku sighs, glaring at you pointedly. “What!?”

“Her attitude changed when you mentioned Rukia,” your daughter explains. “Please, mom, it's not that hard.”

“She's jealous?” you guess. “That's not what I'd imagined.”

“Well, that's how it seemed,” Rangiku counters. “She must still have feelings for cousin Ichigo.”

Huh. That does make sense.

“What's that?” Rangiku wonders aloud as your eyes widen in shock. You can feel what she's felt, and you know damn well what it is. Almost as soon as you say it, the feeling is gone again, as if you'd hallucinated it.

“Shinreiryoku,” you explain. “But it's gone again...”

“Whatever it was appeared quickly and left the Soul Society in the same abrupt manner,” Tenkotsuki surmises, “or else hid itself somehow.”

“Ukitake!” you shout, putting the pieces together. “Rangiku, do you know where Ukitake was until just now?”

“Resting at the Fourth Division barracks,” she replies nervously. “Why, what happened?”

“The being that was keeping him alive must have fled for some reason,” you explain, “I can't feel his reiatsu!”

Personally, my headcanon version simply has him have the ability to fire once more any attack he's ever absorbed. This includes a bunch of attacks that he purposely absorbed long ago. Including 99
>>
>>48894385
That'd make sense, but we may never know for sure. Depending on how bad the backlash to the ending is among the Japanese audience there may not even be enough momentum for a databook to explain that sort of shit.

“What's there to discuss?” you ask, confused at the notion that you might NOT want to rush straight to Ukitake. “What're you thinking?”

Rangiku knows that you didn't mean that as an accusation, though your tone might have fooled most people. And in fact, the nearby human teens seem to think that you just snapped at her. “If something disappears that quickly, what was it fleeing from?”

“You think he was under attack?”

She nods. “Yes. I'm sure of it.”

You think carefully about it as well, and Rangiku has a valid point. This may be the beginning of another attack, one aimed not at the Gotei 13 but at Mimihagi. You extend an arm and cast Tenteikura, connecting yourself to Kai, Rukia, Mirai, and Kisuke.

“Commandos, there are several humans here near my quarters. I want you to look after them. Rukia, meet up with Ichigo and Tatsuki,” you order. “Keep me apprised. Kisuke, please prepare anything you have that might be able to hold a body in indefinite stasis and meet me at the Fourth Division barracks.”

“Rangiku,” you continue, “take me there. Now.”

Your daughter obliges you now that you took precautions, and kneels next to you. A ribbon produced from her sleeve obscures your vision and you both appear in front of the Fourth Division's hospital. You waste no time in charging into the building, knocking the doors off their hinges and only stopping long enough at the front desk to demand directions to Ukitake's room.

Up the stairs. Down the hall. You can see a crowd of nurses in scrubs crowding the door, large masses of reiatsu that feel like Captains are already on the move... but everything you see and feel confirms the worst: Captain Ukitake is dead, and it's because Mimihagi has suddenly departed presumably in the face of some sort of threat.

>dice + 3d10, first of three considered
>>
One thing we need to be weary about is that whoever killed Ukitake most likely came prepared, and now has Mimihage's power on their side, and can use it freely on a level beyond holding themselves together. I'm not really sure what "Stasis" can do in the hands of someone creatve and unscrupulous, but it's probably bad.

Someone down the hall catches your eye, and Rangiku calls out to him.

“Hey, Ichinose!” she shouts. “Did you see what happened?”

Wait... why is he even here?

Ichinose shakes his head as he approaches you. “No I didn't, Lieutenant. Is the Captain okay?”

Lieutenant... normally he'd call her Matsumoto. Something's not right here.

“What's with you, Ichinose? You're acting oddly formal,” Rangiku observes, raising an eyebrow. “Have you forgotten my name or something... hey, Captain!?”

She shouts in alarm as you draw your sword and charge 'Ichinose' with a smooth, composed movement that the real Ichinose would never be able to match, only to find his sheath blocking your blade's progress. Tenkotsuki's edge bites deep, but stops: whoever this is must have more physical strength to put behind his blade than you and Ichinose combined.

“What are you doing, Captain!?” the impostor demands as Rangiku stares in dawning comprehension. “This is a hospital!”

“And you're too strong and too quick to be Ichinose,” you counter, glaring angrily at your opponent. “You're terribly sloppy... Arturo Plateado.”

'Ichinose' looses a terrible laugh, about as deep and cruel as a laugh can get. “Well played, chica!”

“Growl, Haineko!” Rangiku shouts, releasing her blade and blasting its ashes down the hallway and out the side of the building. You chase after the ashes and leap out into the sun, where you find Arturo Plateado standing atop a low wall waiting for you.

“Mimihagi escaped you, didn't it?” you taunt him. “Seems like it saw through your little charade just as quickly as I did. You really suck at this, don't you?”

“Snide insults do not become a lady,” Arturo admonishes you, drawing his zanpakuto. “I shall have to teach you some manners!”

“Attacking an unconscious man?” you growl back. “I may not be a lady, but you're no gentleman.”

“Head Captain,” you nod, never taking your eyes off Arturo. “Good to see you up and about, sir.”

Just because in canon both time Yamamoto fought someone who actually mattered, he made a really strong showing but ultimately lost doesn't mean that has to happen this time.

And sure, if he couldn't kill Arturo hundreds of years ago it seems unlikely that his strength -increased- since then, but he's the Head Captain and this is a matter of not just his pride but the pride of the gotei 13 as a whole.
>>

A reminder here that Arturo actually beats the old man in his story mode, and in a different game is only imprisoned while Yamamoto tries to come up with something that will work against him.

You struggle to come to terms with the fact that the Old Man is sidelining you here... YOU of all people. But he clearly feels like this is something he has to do, and your Bankai definitely isn't suited to cooperation. His may be just as dangerous to you as yours would be to him, so it's probably the case that only one of you can fight Arturo at once.

“Yes, sir.”

With a single move of your hand you motion for Rangiku to go in one direction while Unohana heads off in another, and you maintain your current position. When you feel that your compatriots are in position you channel your reiatsu into your hands, using Bakudō #91. It's the strongest cooperative barrier you know of, and you rarely have occasion to use it... you can only hope that it's enough.

“I see you have made your arrangements, abuelo,” Arturo smiles confidently. “For what good it will do. I find it rather foolish, but it seems important to you.”

“The erection of this barrier signifies the beginnings of your funeral, whelp,” Yamamoto counters in a booming voice, casting aside his haori and baring his chest. His muscles bulge with an unnatural power, and his reiatsu is tangible even through the barrier. Nothing inside that boundary is going to survive this fight, you realize, and you have to hope there aren't too many people stuck in there with them. “Reduce all creation to ashes, Ryūjin Jakka!”

“Shikai, is it?” Arturo frowns as two bright, wing-like masses of reishi build behind him and a long blade of dark reishi forms in his hand. “I had hoped you would take this more seriously, abuelo.”

Their first exchange is one that you can feel in the pit of your stomach: the downward swipe of Arturo's blade meets the upward thrust of the Head Captain's, and after the attack is disrupted the old man takes a powerful horizontal swing that releases a wave of angry red flames. Arturo is forced to dodge to stay alive, and thrusts his blade in a vicious riposte.

It's a long enough weapon moving fast enough that Yamamoto can't quite dodge, and it sears the outside of his shoulder. Their shunpo and sonido seem to be well matched, but when it comes down to blade speed and hand speed Arturo has a clear edge over the Old Man. In range, too: Arturo has the ability to determine the spacing of this engagement, even though you can't imagine he has more raw power than the Head Captain.

The next exchange is just as brutal, with raw power clashing against raw power. When the two fighters separate Arturo charges a massive cero in one hand that draws an attack from Yamamoto, who uses shunpo to close the distance and swing at Arturo's outstretched arm. The arrancar pivots on one foot and slashes in a wide arc with his energy blade, which Yamamoto allows to hit him full-force: the cero here is the greater threat, and Yamamoto uses his zanpakuo to split it at close range. The two beams pass by his torso and collide with the barrier, threatening to shatter it before Unohana manages to adjust. It also gives Yamamoto a chance to land a powerful punch.

“Ikkotsu!” Yamamoto roars, slamming his fist into Arturo's gut in a blow that causes the air in your lungs to reverberate from the sheer force behind it.

Arturo staggers backwards, but manages to draw his zanpakuto and release a sharp arc of reiatsu that leaves a deep gash across Yamamoto's torso.

“I see you weren't taking me seriously either, whelp,” Yamamoto glares at his foe. “Just how much are you holding back?”

With a shout Arturo releases his own zanpakuto, and the energy behind him grows into wide, flickering, multi-colored wings of flame.

“Immolate, Fénix!”

Arturo raises his arm, and you immediately know the result is going to be disastrous. After releasing his blade Arturo won't just be stronger but faster.
>2/?
>>
>>48895533
And the reigai shenanigans. There is a lot of stuff he could have been up to while the SS was under attack from all sides.
>>
>>48895545
Uh oh, Arturo also has fire powers? Also now he can fly and I'm pretty sure normally shinigami can't do that in the soul society?
>>
Man all the Captains better be converging on this position, because if OMG starts to lose here we may need a bunch of Captains to go nuclear on the wounded Arturo.

Maybe get Yoruichi to figure out Plot Rock and eat Arturo like Aizen ate Ywach.
>>
>>48895590
Arturo's sword lets him eat the spiritual power of anything he kills for raw power boost. Basically unlike other arrancar, he can still eat things to get stronger like a normal hollow. Apparently with no upper limit. Other than that his sword is pretty vague in what it does. Especially since it didn't have a release command that was spoken canonically by Arturo. All bets are off. But Fenix is literally "phoenix" in spanish or something. Arturo also always has silly wing looking things when he fights. Made out of pure energy, so he doesn't use them to fly.

And dude, of course shinigami can "fly". Literally anywhere, in fact. They just stand on "platforms" of reishi. They can make them themselves, even. It's how Riku got all the hoomans here for fuck's sake.
>>

Negacíon. It's not a technique anyone could expect an arrancar to use at quite that level, because it's fundamentally not a combat technique. But the yellow energy fixes itself at the right side of the Head Captain's chest just long enough to hold his body and right arm in place so that Arturo can release a powerful attack unopposed.

The cross-shaped projectile tears into Yamamoto's flesh, gouging deep into his chest and lifting him off his feet. The result is an explosion when he hits the side of the barrier, powerful enough that you struggle to keep it from blasting clean through and out into the Seireitei. You've never seen anyone take that sort of punishment and survive, let alone keep fighting.

And yet, Yamamoto does.

He rises to his feet, covered in blood and burns but with eyes that smolder in barely-controlled rage and bloodlust. The old man's not dead yet.

“Bankai: Zanka no Tachi.”

You know now why he asked you to raise a barrier like this. If you hadn't, thousands of shinigami would have been vaporized in an instant by the release of reiatsu. It rolls in powerful waves that threaten to boil the very air surrounding Yamamoto and Arturo, incinerating what's left of the terrain within the barrier as nuclear fire washes over this unfortunate chunk of Seireitei.

You have to have Tenkotsuki help you double the barrier to keep it all contained, as it nearly incinerates the kido itself.

"I had not wished to use this, Arturo," Yamamoto declares in a booming voice as the flames subside, leaving what looks like an ordinary if charred and half-melted katana in his hand. Even from here you can tell that the sword itself still burns with a heat that can't even be called flame any longer.

"I vowed that this monstrous power would never be released again... and that the fight where I was forced to violate that rule would be my last."
>Cont'd
>>
>>48895675
Shit, even though it'd be huge metagaming to take it into consideration, I forgot about Yamamoto's vow.
>>
>>48895675
“I am honored, Abuelo,” Arturo responds, a smile tugging at his lips. “Truly I am. For you to employ a technique so powerful it will burn away your own body... I can hardly wait for that power to finally become mine!”

This is bad. As powerful as the Old Man's reiatsu feels to you, he's already been weakened: and Arturo's reiatsu keeps growing stronger as well, as if drawing upon deep reserves of strength stolen from Captains and menos alike. Both of these men are monsters in human form, and if they continue to fight as things are they'll consume each other.

Maybe, deep down, that's what they both want. To settle a grudge a thousand years old or more, regardless of personal cost.

>Enter Bankai and eradicate the barrier. You're not going to let Yamamoto kill himself like this when you can fight together.

Like on the one hand, there will still be enemies after this, and the Soul Society is still under attack by whoever's sending the Reigai, they just backed off for a bit so the morale loss of Yamamoto dying could be a lot worse than any gain from Arturo's death.

On the other hand I feel like he's probably on the verge of retirement anyway, all the crises are getting to him and he doesn't feel like he can really carry it as well as he could have.

Could we let them fight until just before the Head Captain kicks it then step in? Maybe take on weakened Arturo and get Yamamoto to Orihime or Mimihige? Fuck, man. I don't want him to die, but I understand Arturo needs to get taken care of.
>>
>>48895809

...Yes. Yes it fucking would.

Shiiiiiiit.

Maybe we can get Gin or Mirai in bankai and have them play assassin?

Also didn't one of our subordinates have a bankai that canceled out our shinreiyoku? Couldn't we get them to use that bankai to mitigate Yamamoto's or our bankai?
>>
>>48895747
I don't fucking know. Fuck you Queen for having this all pile up at once.
>>48895825
I'm going with you. Wait for Yamamoto to jus about die. Then Bankai it up and hopefully stomp Arturo into the ground, And then get him to Orihime.
>>
>>48895828
An assassination strike at Arturo at a critical moment is probably the best idea, but unfortunately unless we use bankai first, that would mean that we'd need to drop the barrier which means a lot of people die because they just can't take the heat.
>>
>>48895828
It wasn't a subordinate, but Kaoru might be able to do that. Or maybe even fuck Arturo over
>>
>>48895809
I wonder, if Arturo ate Mimihige, wouldn't he just stop getting stronger or weaker? Wouldn't he just cease to change? That's what Mimihige does, and Arturo gets power in a decidedly mundane way compare to the only other example of powers being yoinked which is Aizen and his Grant a Wish foundation. Or Ywach who is a god, too, or something? Whatever, mang. It's bullshit. All of it is KUBO.
>>
>>48895821
Not to mention that taking down the barrier as things stand would kill a LOT of bystanders, and it doesn't solve the problem that Yamamoto's own Bankai slowly immolates him.

I hate to do this to you, but it really is a case of step in against his wishes and maybe he survives, or allow him to fight and he probably dies along with Arturo.
>>
>>48895842
>>48895825
That's implying you think he'll lose. I'm guessing that he's going to kill Arturo, but then die on his feet.

This is why I stopped reading bleach. Its just Kubo milking it for all its worth. Oh yeah these bullshit strong characters stomp all over everyone. Then the other side stomps all over them. But wait it turns out that they weren't even the strongest and so on and so on. Just a constant bullshit tier fight to see whose powers can be more bullshit than the others. This is why One Piece is the best.
>>
>>48895883
Starting a vote with this with only a few players around initially would invite plenty of complaints later down the line. This is as best a time as we can decide.
>>
>>48895848

Wouldn't our bankai reduce the damage from some of the flames? So it wouldn't be quite as catastrophic as it could be.

And then we basically have Riku be the distraction, where Arturo and Yamamoto think we're rushing in to join the battle, when really it's our assassin behind them killing Arturo.

Anyone think this could work?
>>
>>48895747
Can't we just have Orihime top OMG off? Or at least make him not die?
>>
>>48895862
It feels really cold to say this but I kind of feel like regardless of if we step in or not, regardless of if he lives or not, Yamamoto is DONE. The accelerated dose of Kubo that is this quest has made him officially too old for this shit and unfortunately I don't think he has a temperament suited towards retirement.

And when it comes down to it, he's the Captain Commander of the Thirteen Court Guard, and he gave his last command.

It's the hardest thing you've ever done as a shinigami, but you resist the temptation to release your own Bankai and charge in yourself. Yamamoto has made the decision he feels best for the Seireitei, the one he has no choice but to make, and as a Captain who has shared that responsibility you feel obliged to respect that decision regardless of whether you agree with it.

Arturo impales the old man with his sword, putting all his power into one blow just in the hope of killing the Head Captain. But the results aren't what he wanted. A look of fear spreads across his face.

“You claim to share qualities with the firebird of legend,” Yamamoto growls to his foe as he grasps the man's shoulder. Where their skin makes contact Arturo erupts into flame, and he lets loose an unearthly howl of rage and pain as the old man pulls him into a powerful bear-hug.

“LET US TEST THOSE CLAIMS, WHELP!”

With one, perhaps final, effort the Head Captain lifts Arturo into the air, still screaming, and leans back. The result is a powerful suplex that drives the arrancar's skull into the ground in a massive ball of fire.

Their reiatsu all but disappears.

After a few moments you lower the barrier, and examine the scalded landscape in utter shock. Your eyes sting as other Captains join you at the scene, though you barely notice them.

Arturo is dead, his rigid body broken and planted head-first into the ground, blowing away legs-first on the wind like so much dust and ash. That threat to the Seireitei is gone.

Nearby you can see that the old man's literally burned himself out, almost to a cinder. But his body's not gone yet, so there must be a trace of life left lingering in those old bones of his... and damn, those are practically all that's left.

“Where is Kisuke?” you ask Retsu, who's staring at the same scene as you are with unknowable thoughts of remorse behind calm, dispassionate eyes.

“Yo!” a familiar voice greets from somewhere behind you. “Sorry to have arrived a little late, I was seeing to Captain Ukitake first. And to be honest, I would have simply gotten in the way here.”

Captain Urahara is walking towards you with Nemu in tow, who's carrying a giant crate of some kind atop her head. Kisuke takes it from her and plants it on the tortured earth next to Yamamoto's smoldering corpse, and cracks it open. Inside is some sort of cylindrical pod, with tubes running in and out of it and several tanks of liquid bolted to the sides.

“It's a good thing you told me to bring something to put subjects in stasis,” Urahara nods quietly, looking over the charred body of the Head Captain from several angles while his Lieutenant prepares the pod. “If I hadn't gotten to him this soon a technique like this may not have worked. Nemu, is the pod ready?”

“Yes, Captain Urahara,” the woman bows politely. “We can transfer the Head Captain's remains whenever you are ready.”

Without a word of explanation Kisuke and Nemu lift the body up from its resting place, dropping a little bit of blackened ash as they do so, and place it into the tank. You take Zanka no Tachi's blade, still warm to the touch, and place it beside Yamamoto so that the two scientists can seal the old man and his zanpakuto into it. There's a hiss as the chamber fills with an unknowable array of gasses, and the cover frosts over.

“Done,” Urahara declares. “We may not have a way to restore a victim from the sorts of injuries Yamamoto and Ukitake have sustained, but this at least gives us a chance.”

He glances at you, concern clear in his gaze. “Captain Kyōraku is the next most senior Captain behind Yamamoto. He will be taking over command as Head Captain, and miss Kaoru will likely be asked to merge her Kidō Corps with Eight Division and take command there. He may be out of action, perhaps permanently... but he made sure that the next generation would be in a position to take over.”

“It was because we were strong that he felt he could leave things in our hands. He had faith in us.”

You clench your fists, a mixture of helplessness and anger welling up in your gut. “Then we won't disappoint him.”

Most of the Captains and Lieutenants of the Gotei 13 are here. Most are in a state of complete shock, having lost not just two Lieutenants but two Captains in one day: among which were two of the oldest. It's a blow that some can't even believe, even sufficient to stun Yoruichi into silence. Shunsui's face is unreadable as he stares at the vessel containing his mentor's charred remains, and you realize there's nothing you can say to alleviate the pain he must feel now to lose both Yamamoto and Ukitake in the same day.

A silent hand placed on his shoulder is the best you can do. A token gesture, but one he seems to appreciate.

Even worse is when Kaoru realizes that she can't find her Lieutenant: Ichinose was likely killed somewhere in the Seireitei, and she'll probably never even know where it happened. Yoruichi orders several squads of her Patrol Corps to search, but he look in her eyes tells you she isn't holding out much hope.

Your mourning is eventually interrupted by the sudden and unexpected arrival of a giant, cylindrical pillar that literally falls from the sky onto the Fourth Division's grounds. The blast sends tremors throughout the Seireitei and raises a pall of dust that reaches the curved dome of the city's defenses. From the dust emerge five improbable figures, some familiar and some not. One is a giant man with a shaved head and bushy beard, very round in figure but undeniably powerful. A second woman is even larger than this man, with familiar purple hair but an absurd figure that makes you doubt yourself regarding her identity. The third is a slender woman with an ornate costume, and the fourth is a man with the most terrifying pompadour you can claim to have seen.

The fifth lets out a surprised whoop when he sees you.

“Good to see you made it through that bullshit in good condition, Miss Tetsushin, Miss Shunshin!” Ōetsu waves jovially, drawing concerned stares from the likes of Byakuya and Komamura. “You miss me? Course you did, otherwise you wouldn't have given us a reason to drop by like this!”

“Believe me, that wasn't our intention, Tōshin,” Yoruichi grumbles mutinously, clearly annoyed at the flippant tone.

“Seems you have a problem, Unohana,” the man with the pompadour frowns, staring at your fellow Captain whose own gaze meets his with a smile.

“It would seem that you do as well, Kirinji,” she replies in that calm voice that somehow triggers all of your survival instincts simultaneously. “You crashed your tower into my headquarters.”

The Royal Guard has arrived.

This is way later than I've stayed up in months, but I guess I felt like I had to be there for it.

Man, this was rough, especially on top of Bleach's lacklustre canon ending.

And that's all for now. Hope you enjoyed the ride and the archive is up for your reading pleasure. Ukitake and Yamamoto are mostly dead, but you don't have Arturo hanging over your heads anymore. And oh, Kirinji and Unohana are about to kill each other in front of everybody.

... see you next time!
>>
>>48896518
Thanks Queen.
>>
>>48896518

I wanna help Unohana.

And thanks Queen.

It was not a fun ride.

Dayum, King. Thanks for that hell of a run.
>>
>>48896468
YOU ASSHOLES

FUCKING

FUCK
>>
>>48896518
Thanks for running, this was very upsetting, well done!

Unfortunately I imagine that Riku's gonna be blaming herself for a while after this.
>>
>>48896518
What a rollercoaster that was

holy shit
>>
>>48896529
If she takes Kirinji, Riku gets Oetsu.

late

This is Bleach, anon. Nobody stays dead forever.

Except Gin. And Unohana. And Yamamoto. And also Ukitake.
>>
>>48896559
>literally all of the best characters save a few
>>
>>48896518
Mostly dead is better than completely dead, at least.
>>
>>48896559
What about Nemu? All it says on the wiki is that she dead.
>>
>>48896559
>This is Bleach, anon. Nobody stays dead forever.

That isn't how you say Dragon Ball Z.
>>
What if despite being really old and kind of mediocre, Sasakibe is able to step up in ways never thought possible?
>>
>>48896575
Also true, as smol Nemu is apparently new. I'd rather have had some more explanation on that point, but I'd assume there's some continuity to the process of replacing each generation of Nemu.

At least I want there to be
>>
>>48896589
He can probably contribute in the re-organization process, but otherwise, he's pretty much out of the fighting.

Maybe a C46 posting down the line wouldn't be so far-fetched.
>>
>>48896608
Vote 1 Sasakibe Chojiro for Seireitei's first president.
>>
>>48896594
So... why a suplex?
>>
>>48896647
Why not?
>>
>>48896510
I actually considered not running this week when I saw that the canon ending was going to be such a trainwreck, because I realized that no matter how this encounter went it was going to be hard.

You got dealt a loss here, and it was a tough one, but it's not a total loss. Riku will bounce back with a vengeance, and this may not be the last you see of Ukitake and Yamamoto depending on how things go.
>>
>>48896647
Because Zanka no Tachi surrounds Yamamoto's body in flames as hot as the sun. That combined with his respectable strength and skill at hakuda would make a suplex one hell of a lethal move.

Also, blaze of glory.
>>
>>48896656
What I guess I'm most curious about is how Arturo knew about Mimihagi, too bad he's not talking.
>>
>>48896669
Honestly if he gets a statue made for him, I want it to be that moment.
>>
>>48896675
If you don't want to be spoiled, don't look.

He didn't. It's just there were a lot of wounded and exhausted Captains all in one place: a veritable feast. He went after one of the other Captains to strengthen himself for the fight against Yamamoto, and when Mimihagi realized what was happening it fled to try and minimize the threat to the entire Soul Society
>>
>>48896694
This just makes me even angrier. Can we unkill Arturo and then rekill him a dozen times?
>>
>>48896694
Arturo was, in all likelihood, the strongest hollow to ever live, and yet he was a fucking vulture.

Then again, I guess that's how he lasted as long as he did.
>>
>>48896729
We could ensure that Arturo is deader than dead by having Kaoru ward/seal the site of DMG and Arturo's battle. Also ensures that no one would try to use any remains there for experiments.
>>
>>48896743
Truth. His power was also more suited to picking off progressively stronger enemies.
>>48896729
He's gone, anon. He didn't even end up in hell, so you can't go after him and re-kill him there.
>>
>tfw OMG never even got a last taste of tea from his favorite teashop
>>
>>48896783
Huh, so hollows not killed by a zanpakuto just stop existing?

Or are Yamamoto's flames just that hot?
>>
>>48896807
Isn't a hollow at that stage made of so many different souls that whatever's gone through the system no longer resembles Arturo in any way?
>>
>>48896807
Or Arturo didn't act in a way that would lead him to Hell.

Most hollows don't make it. You have to be super scummy in life to go to Hell. Like Grand Fisher. Or whatever that faggot's name was.
>>
>>48896807
things killed by yamamoto's bankai gets turned into skelly zombie under his control in bankai mode.
OMG is sheer bullshit, and if we figure out a way to revive his old ass you will understand, legitimately i'm still pissed he lost to the quincy king in canon since it looked like he should have fucked ywhach's shit hardcore.
>>
>>48896816
This. I'm using the canon mechanics for hell, and not the Hell Verse mechanics which actually were a retcon (since the Gate didn't take Aaroniero or Szayelapporo). A single hollow's soul might go to hell for crimes it committed before its death, but a Menos is such a complicated case that it only makes sense to return it to the cycle rather than try and sort it out.
>>
>>48896826
The problem is that if he did that Arturo would have attacked the skeletons. It's literally a feast for him to grow exponentially stronger.
>>
>>48896843
I guess I figured that after a hollow digested a soul it stopped really being a distinct thing and just became energy, otherwise the Quincy surface doctrine is even more retarded since they'd be destroying the souls of a hollow's victims as well.
>>
>>48896905
Huh, so that's why he didn't use South, and I'm guessing that North would have been way too much for the barrier to contain.
>>
>>48896914
Then again, we did have indicate it was different for menos since they can actually revert back into Gillians.
>>
>>48896929
...man, hollows are just existential nightmares aren't they? Maybe Yhwach had a point, even if he went about it in the most gleefully assholish way possible.
>>
>>48896936
Save that kind of talk for if/when you find out why hollows exist in SSQ-verse. That's the REAL nightmare.
>>
>>48897140
Better not be some SMT shit with Nyarlathotep and his posse.
>>
>>48897152
SMT is definitely not one of my influences, major or otherwise. Anything supernatural in nature that I add, from a plot device to a name, is only done when I feel it fits both Bleach's setting AND Japanese myth.

My autism demands nothing less.
>>
Damn, I missed it but what a blaze of glory
>>
>>48895241
I missed the rest of the thread, but a reminder that Hanatarou beats Arturo in HIS story mode.
