The screams finally ceased.

Miles of tunnels honeycombed the moon of Horizon's Drop connecting the temples of your Generals orders, each one dedicated to a new branch of the reborn Necrotic Armada. Halls of black glass and braziers of ultraviolet flames marked the territory of the Voidknights, a large, heavy door slowly swinging open as Revenant Lorgul emerged. Greeted by Jareth and his Disciples the first of the reborn Voidknights grips in his hands a massive mace of black metal, jagged glass and bone. Voidlight ripples along the weapon and Lorgul raises it into the air and names it, "Cor'a'Ghul" the Fist of Ghul.

Predator Nekris emerges from his own inner sanctum, his body flickering and distorting the light around it as he was greeted by Eiton. Arc-lightning crackles off the blade he holds in his grasp, the mirrored surface reflecting his gaze. Forged from the bones and blood of the Ahkam he could feel the hunger within it, the serrated edge seeming to grind against itself. "Blight," is all he names it, the Predator finding its simplistic name appealing.

Deep in a cavern unconnected to the others was a large spherical room, its walls blasted to a mirror-like sheen as Dominator Valresko hefts his own bonded weapon. Just as he was a corruption of the Sunscales and the power Solar, so too was his weapon a corruption of the Sunscales holy Rods of Ruin. A six-sided staff of gnarled bone flares with flame in the airless void of his would-be temple as Valresko decides on a name to match power inside it, the smooth bone of his face cracking into a cruel grin as flames roiled within, "Anathema."

Your Generals grow in power, their loyalty to your cause the only reason you do not fear their might. No, you relish it, wondering if this pride you felt as you watch them was what the Wormstar felt as you and your siblings in Lichdom and undeath swept across the cosmos.

Completed Research:
>Heavy Exosuits: Commonly deployed by drop-pod into combat these heavy exosuit armors are veritable walking tanks allowing a single operator to bring a large amount of firepower. Too big to be deployed in a ship these were found in the holds of Ahkam Battlecruiser.
>UON Wardrones: Simplistic drones consisting of little more than propulsion, targetting and weapon systems are deployed en masse from ships for both attack and defense
>Assault Drone: War machines sporting an impressive amount of both non-lethal and anti-personnel weaponry and used for ship defense and boarding, utilizing a complex array of thrusters to maneuver in zero-g along with complex hoverpads for encounters on a planets surface.

Unlocked:
Heavy Exosuit: Consisting of a series of powerful mechanical and reconstructed systems these large exosuits sport heavy plates of armor rivaling tanks and Large Reconstructed. Boasting a considerable strength they are able to tote heavy weaponry that would normally require a vehicle or a large reconstructed, advanced jump-packs allowing for impressive leaps through the air. Boosting the natural speed, strength and stamina of its operator beyond their normal capabilities the Heavy Exosuit comes with an array of emergency medical equipment should it's pilot become injured. A Demi-Think Tank integrated with the suit handles the various targeting and weapons systems while providing the pilot with an updated feed of battle-field conditions.

Swarmer: Consisting of a shell of chitin containing simple thrusters, an auxiliary weapon mount and a sensor cluster these simple Reconstructed are deployed in large swarms.

Swarm hangar (50 fighters) – A hangar filled to the brim with dormant Swarmer Reconstructed drones, which are awoken and released when needed for combat. They are linked directly to the parent ship, and cannot function away from it. The swarmers themselves are each a cheap and disposable craft designed to pose a threat with sheer numbers, and can each be equipped with a single auxiliary weapon. Together, they can form complex maneuvers to intercept attacks with themselves, attack hostile targets, ram into targets and perform patrols in close proximity to the ship. When not in use they are kept in hibernation. Cost represents the cost of a single hangar bay and its associated swarm. (300N 150M)

While the Assault Drones are impressive feats of engineering and weaponry they do not offer much in the way of available upgrades. Research of them has revealed several weakpoints, chief among them their susceptibility to Ion damage though a good number of them do sport conductive armor to offset it.
>Bonus gained for combat against UON forces.

Excavations into the tomb of Ruscuv progresses, albeit slowly as they clear out collapsed tunnels while trying to preserve the markings and carvings still undamaged by the Confederacy's hasty exit. Think Tanks sent to investigate sense traces of necrotic energy but they are faint and still on the other side of tons of rubble. The Reconstructed work tirelessly though, groups of Brutes and Trolls hauling out rubble to be lifted off by Dirges and Requiems, the Think Tank in charge promising to contact you immediately should something turn up.

Your Eyegore continues to watch as the planet is prepared for the arrival of the Eldertrees, a thick haze filling the air for miles around the meeting place where the treeships took root. On the edge of the system your Eyegore sense a significant gravity well and moments later you are treated to the sight of a truly colossal craft entering the system. Drifting to the planet this grand ship was even larger than your Charnel Vault, resembling more a chunk of a planet overgrown with plantlife. Ships swarm around it like a school of fish following a larger creature, their message of greeting sent to the Eyegore announcing the arrival of the Eldertrees and that they will be ready to see Jadyk once they are set up on the surface.

Pestilence, the Blackscales flagship, fades from sight and sensors before it disappears to travel to the frozen world the cloning project was to begin. Raakah stayed behind in Iti'a'Ropku as Beqor and Guir travel, eager to begin their joint experiment for the Armada.

Muic stands on the shoreline of the same lake of molten stone Agona had emerged from days before. Her pyroclastic sister stands nearby, watching as the tank of a Reconstructed General steps forth, her telekinetic gifts letting her walk unscorched to the center where a platform of stone awaited her. Seating herself Punisher Muic nods silently to Agona before slabs of obsidian glowing with heat rise from the lava to seal around her like a chrysalis before submerging once more to begin her reforging.

Buddy and his crew wait with varying levels of patience to hear back from the cartel. Clud, the former Dagger Netu, walks the slums stashed in the lower levels of Veraga Prime at the behest of the Demi-Think Tank that followed after him. A Necrolyte Legionnaire, an Epikor wearing disguised armor and carrying Confederate weaponry travels with them while eyeing those around them suspiciously. Seeing the poor state of those that lived there you wonder how the Confederacy could pride themselves on equality for all when the poor and neglected are forced to live in such squalor.

On a distant plain of Horizon's Drop where the Necrolyte Legion had requested a training area, your Voidsinger Commander and his officers inspect their new recruits. The Osjiic Roktir and the Vorh Dretst wearing the uniforms of the Legion as their former comrades were inducted into the Necrolytes.

Now freed from the ritual Jareth speaks with Lorgul about your order to decide the fate of the Deathshead Guardians. Lorgul just begins to laugh as he holds Cor'a'Ghul in his grasp before ordering a Large Cauldron to be crafted in the belly of the Voidknight Temple.

There was much to be done and tend to in your New Necrotic Armada. What shall you do first?

The flagship of the Eldertrees stays in orbit over the desolate world but a portion of it detaches when trunks and thick vines detach to descend slowly through the weak atmosphere and disappear into the smog created by the treeships. You are already on board your own Flagship when they send the signal they are ready and it disappears into a knot of twisted light and time as its new, colossal Combi-drive fires up.

By the time you arrive in the system the fleet of treeships were in place surrounding the meeting world with patrols drifting through the system as a precaution. The Charnel Vault exits from FTL in a flash of light, countless weapon mounts turning briefly to aim at you for a tense moment before they relax and retract into their hulls once more after verifying your arrival.

You descend to the surface, light refracting off the Dirges crystalline forms before you were swallowed up by the haze of thick pollen and spores. So thick it would've been hard to see through, not to mention deadly suffocating to any "fauna" species that tried to breath the temporary atmosphere. Through the haze you spy the ruined arena, overgrown with vines and grasses and as the air clears somewhat you are shocked by the dazzling display of color as carpets of flowering buds bloom in an impossible array.

In the center of the former arena loom three massive, twisted tree. Their bark was pale but rough, knotted and gnarled with age but their leaves were richly verdant and as your Throne neared you could see simple animal life moving among their branches. Alien birds and slithering creatures dwell among and within them without care it seemed but the chorus of animal song goes silent as the trees groan and shift, their leaves shivering as your mind was suddenly filled with a booming voice that growled like the shifting of continents.

<We three members of the Parliament of Trees greet you, Lich-Lord Jadyk. We have much to discuss.>

Sapling Slrrt stands at the base of their roots with a collection of other floral species, several of the same lumbering cactus-like creatures Jor and the Voidsinger had encountered standing nearly completely still around the edges of the arena. A mound of vines you thought was a mere shrub lifts itself up on a collection of spine-like limbs and shuffles closer and lifts a handful of vines ending in an array of eyes and flower-like organs to inspect you from a distance.

You almost wonder if you should've brought your own entourage but you wanted the Eldertrees to know that you took personal interest in this would-be alliance. Leaving your throne behind you drift forward, your robes of spun chitin and glutton crystal sweeping the plant-covered ground as Kyn'tk twists slowly in your grasp. Bowing low you lift your gaze to the Eldertrees, spotting a multitude of eyes hidden in the whorls and knots of their bark.

"It is an honor to meet you. I pray this meeting will seal the friendship between our two factions," you say as you straighten and hover before them.

Jadyk has met the Parliament of Trees. What shall you discuss?
>>
>>48836206
Well there is the reason we called them here to begin with. As a show of trust.
We could destroy them but they came, so we can trust them with what can destroy us. The crystal tech

We give it all. We share it all. We are one plant and corpse
>>
>>48836206
what their goals are really, how bad their feud with the osjic is, what the know of the necrotic armada, Show of friendship.
>>
>>48836206
Okay first off let's make our alliance official. Tell them of our relationships with the various factions we've encountered and how we plan on dealing with them, to help ensure neither party in this alliance drags the other into a conflict they don't want to fight or were seeking to avoid somehow, followed by an affirmation that we will both support each other militarily.

Then we can move on to tech trades, give them the compound we developed that we give our living members to help them Necrotic energy's toxic effects on life, in the hopes that it will help them develop a resistance of their own. Offer to trade knowledge of solar power generation for very cheep, and ask them if there is anything else they want to trade for. Do not offer to teach them necromancy or other forms of primal energy manipulation unless they ask for it themselves.
>>
>>48836330
I vote against giving them crystal tech. That's ours, sharing it with others would be a mistake unless they earn a lot of trust with us.
>>
>>48836463
The point of this meeting was trust. They sent there elder trees to talk with something that could kill them in a thought. They trust us, we should trust them
>>
>>48836536
After the lavafather I'm not keen on freely handing out tech that could kill us easy. If they trusted us 100% they would have let us visit the world tree in person, or at least allowed us to visit their own worlds. This planet is lightyears away from their actual settlements, and is deserted when not holding diplomatic functions for liches.

Furthermore with the firepower they brought with them to this shindig they just might be capable of stopping Jadyk from killing the elder trees if he tried. That is hardly a sign of total trust.

Folding your legs underneath you so you sit floating in the air, Kyn'tk slithering to its resting place in your ribcage and you look up to the strange trees, "First I suppose we should discuss this alliance of ours. It would not do well if we went to war with each others allies," you say with a small chuckle.

<Agreed. It would be quite unfortunate,> Their voice booms in your skull, feeling like it would rattle your bones if you let it.

You speak with the Armatocere Eldertrees, detailing your encounters with the Osjiic and the Dagger upon your freedom. You tell of how you await word from the Dagger Clan about your offer of peace and the Eldertrees seem nearly shocked. They had attempted to extend peaceful relations to the nomadic pirate clans but time and again they thought it was a trap and attacked or continued to attempt raids against them. To find they would speak with you and your faction was quite a surprise to them but they are intrigued by what may unfold with your discussions with the pirates in the future.

They agree the Osjiic are a blight against them, the imperial tyrants viewing all life as inferior to them and destined to serve the Empire. You gather that they have no love for the Osjiic, only wishing to be left in peace but more than willing to exchange blows with them. They remark how the Empire seemed to have a personal grudge against them after the death of an important leader in one of their larger conflicts but the Eldertrees seem ignorant of the true importance of the slain Emperor.

I can see why the plants offers of peace would be turned down by the pirates, it would seem too good to be true, and it is hard to get a feel of the plants fighting power

Us on the other hand seen more normal and comparable in power to them so they trust us easier
>>
>>48837532
You tell them of your encounters with the Ahkam and liberating a system with two primitive cultures enslaved by them. They commend your efforts against the serpents, seeming to find particular joy in the fact you wounded a full grown Matriarch and captured alive two of the lesser Ahkam. They tell of how the Dynasties have pledged a blood-oath against them, vowing to steal their worlds to feed their teeming masses of subjects yet constantly leave behind their faithful and enslaved when they flee from retaliation. On several worlds the Armatocere presided over a population of those left behind, disillusioned soldiers and citizens welcoming the life of peace the floral faction provided them.

The Eldertrees ask of your relations with the Confederacy and if anything has come from your claiming the system. You reveal you've only had encounters with their long abandoned war machines and during the conflict to seize the system. Upon the news of finding legitimate proof of the old Armada's presence on the world Station 88 orbited they tell you that will only further solidify your claim over it. The New Necrotic Armada would be viewed as reclaiming a lost world rather than conquering an enemy system. After some questioning they speak of how the Confederacy have launched raids and covert operations to steal their biotech or conquer resource rich systems. Time and again the Confederacy had sent offers of peace only for years or decades later to turn on them in powerhungry displays. You both lament the short lives and the ever changing politics of the other races.

Pointless bone posting as I wait
>>
>>48837907
You question them about the United Outer Nations and you watch as several branches curl, perhaps a display of anger. They say the UON had a long history of raiding the Armatocere yet their efforts had increased in recent years. They seemed to share the same desires as the Confederacy and Pirates in an effort to claim their technology or worlds but were much more willing to pursue it through conflict. At Sapling Slrrts encouragement they tell of how during the war of secession between the Yuyut led UON and the Confederacy they had given refuge to a UON fleet after they'd been stranded behind enemy lines and their ships running drastically low on resources. Yet despite this altruistic gesture and helping them return to their people the UON attacked the same worlds mere years later in their first significant assault against the Armatocere.

There is brief mention of the Wraiths, both sides admitting they are a pestilence and significant threat. The Armatocere admit they've had some success in combating them with technology based off ruins found of an ancient race of crystalline beings and you tense. The Eldertrees seem to sense your unease and they ask if you knew of this technology.

Reveal your knowledge of the Crystalline Minds?

>>48837920

>>
>>48837920
Yes.

If revealing our crystal tech means getting more I'm all for it
>>
>>48837920
They already have crystal tech? I suppose that simplifies things.

I'm fine with telling them of the existence of the crystalline minds and our own conflicts with them as long as we don't give them any really sensitive information. Seems like it would be detrimental to hide it if they're already aware of the tech.
>>
>>48837920
Yes and do this. >>48838027
>>
>>48838131
We should be brutally honest about our past present and future just so they are aware of what exactly we are and how our new mind set is compared I then as masked whispers could be problematic
>>
>>48838433
Agreed
>>
>>48837920
Quietly you think over the risks of revealing your connection to the Crystalline Minds and your own uses of their technology. Finally you speak, knowing truthfulness during this meeting was important.

"I spoke of my imprisonment and the Grand Necrotic Armada's destruction. This crystal tech you've discovered belonged to the faction that was responsible for this. They were called the Crystalline Minds and existed seemingly as extradimensional entities that manifested in this reality as sentient mineral formations. They allied themselves with the living and dedicated themselves to the destruction of the Armada and in the process defeated and sealed me away," the leaves of the Eldertrees rustle, small bird-like creatures flitting from branch to branch as you continued, "To my knowledge they no longer reside in local space. Either not in this galaxy or even this state of reality.

I have also begun researching into their technology," you say, motioning vaguely to the crystal shrouded forms of the Dirges fused to your throne, "I was uncertain if it would have an effect against the Wraiths but I am glad to know there is potential in that path."

<It was quite a boon when realized this. The Wraiths had threatened to consume us to fuel their unknowable goals before we drove them back. We will share our knowledge of what repels them.>

You bow your head to them in thanks while wondering if they knew of the potential the crystal technology could unlock for them. Before you could speak Sapling Slrrt points a tendril to a group of fleshy, orange pods planted in the earth to the side of the Arena, "We return those you wished preserved," he drones out in his synthesized voice. You could feel the faintest flicker of solar power from one, the same Yuyut female you'd captured from the UON, "Their comrades were quite helpful in their knowledge about the UON."

Okay I'm kinda pissed off. Gotta go rescue a drunk friend who sounds pretty panicked.

While we wait might we suggest some trade ideas

I was thinking we could ask for schematics in building such collossal ships and in exchange work on searching their kind for energy users

PerhPs offer to trade void infused bone and void drive technology

Heck they would probably dig solar generators and hard light tech
>>
>>48839225
We already agreed to give them our energy research in exchange for the captives brah
>>
>>48838736
How does this keep happening to you? Do you and everybody you know live in a constant state of crises or something?
>>
>>48839272
Where did you read that? Trading info on energy manipulation is kind of a huge deal for us, thats like the keystone of all our power, that's not the same as exchanging technical information about a particular technology we possess or anything like that.
>>
>>48839272
We said we would show them solar powers an unlock t if any of them have the potential

Solar reactors are a technology we unlocks from the sunscale the two do not I hand in hand but understanding if one helps with research in the other this way we can help them skip some steps and look good at the same time
>>
>>48839225
I really like the idea of trading energy infused materials void bone or solar scales to our allies. It allows us to share the benefits of the technology with our friends while at the same time maintaining our monopoly over the technology and the capacity to produce it. If we can produce such materials and show others how to use them, it will allow them to equip their own soldiers and ships with exceedingly potent weaponry without creating the risk of other galactic powers stealing it from them.

"I suppose I should reveal history with the Wraiths and the Suneater," you watch as the limbs of the Eldertrees rustle sending thick leaves to drift to the ground as you continue, "In the old Armada she was much like me, the field commander of our respective faction. No one knows who her patron was, just that she and her Wraiths served the Undying Court, the old leaders of the Armada. It was her betrayal that that weakened the Armada and lead to my imprisonment and the destruction of my patron the Wormstar.

I met her, face to face recently," you say almost as an afterthought but those gathered tense and you can feel their unease, "The Wraiths seem to exist on an alien reality we cannot yet fully touch ourselves. It is quite frustrating debating ways to combat them."

<We shall provide whatever aid we can to see a stop their threat. They have cost the lives of countless being.>

The being composed of a mass of vines speaks, its voice surprisingly human, "The tales we have learned about the old Armada are not flattering. How do we know you can be trusted? You are undead, after all."

"That is a matter of faith. Yes, I was a scourge against the living eons past, consuming everything I could at the behest of my patron," you look down at your hand then the array of life surrounding you, "With my time imprisoned and my freedom from the shackles of my old god I have come to understand that my old ways, and the ways of the Armada, were folly. Life and death are immutable truths of this universe. There is no meaning to undeath without life or death, only stagnation and a surrender to entropy. I do not wish for oblivion, but rather a future where the living and undead can coexist peacefully."

You can sense the Eldertrees conversing together and you speak up once more, "To prove my intent, I would welcome ambassadors to my home of Iti'a'Ropku to see how I have begun to enact my vision of a unified galaxy. I hope the Armatocere can be a part of that vision."

They previously expressed interest in our ability to control elemental energies. The ability to wield Solar energies would be a real boon to a plant-based species. What can we do to teach them to use it, and what can they give us in return?

The Eldertrees are silent for several moments before Slrrt seems to shiver then speaks, his synthetic voice droning out, "I shall be departing when this meeting is over to accept your offer and join you, Lord Jadyk," their central stalk bending in their version of a bow and you nod your head in return.

>Armatocere are sending Sapling Slrrt to see Iti'a'Ropku at the Eldertrees behest

"I know of your kinds susceptibility to Necrotic energies so I wish to offer a recent development of my studies into it," as you spoke a data packet was sent from the Charnel Vault to the Eldertrees flagship, "This is the supplement my living subjects ingest daily to counteract the harmful effects. While it is not an immunity or protection against the weaponized forms, it should help counteract the negative effects ambient exposure entails. I am unsure if it will have the same effects on the floral that it does on my animal subjects but," you are cut off as another Sapling, a nearly neon green colored being interrupts.

"The compound has the potential for modification to replicate the results, this will help greatly in dealing with the aftermath of the UON's attacks," they say and bow their stalk before shuffling back to their original spot.

Satisfied the offer was well received you send another data-packet on a whim containing the basic technology behind hard-light shields and a simple form of the solar reactor and you would've smiled had you face at their reactions.

The neon Sapling seems to quiver in place, "This reactor technology is quite remarkable! We did not realize it could be miniaturized this far, this will be quite a-" they almost continue before a rustling from an Eldertrees branches causes it to trail off and calm itself.

Instead the voice of the Eldertree reverberates in your skull, <These are fine gifts indeed, Lord Jadyk. You have been very generous in the past with your technology and we thank you.>

>>48841335
That's fair, we can provide or enable the creation of the generators. And if they want to wield Solar powers themselves too, we can just push for equal trades. If we're going to give something civilization-changing to them, they should find something of equal value they can give us in return. Let them work on that if they need to.

Bowing your head you begin to move onto other subjects but a mental alarm is sent from the Charnel Vault moments before the Armatocere assembled their break into pandemonium. You Eyegore sends a recent memory from one of it's satellite drones taken only moments before as it watched a patrolling frigate sized tree suddenly begin to wither and petrify before its very eyes. Zooming in the cluster of eyes watches as a handful of Wraiths phase through the hull, the wood and bark decaying almost instantly where they passed.

As you watched the treeship die you were nearly startled as a ghostly alien visage of a Wraith pressed itself uncomfortably close to the drones lens, "Mother is quite displeased, a party and no invitation, Mother is quite displeased," its lilting voice pipes before the drone goes blank.

The Wraiths have crashed the party.

As I see it, we need all hands on deck. Our flagship is already here, and we need to put it between the wraiths and the meeting site. Send more ships here immediately, and at the same time give Akka-Tor an ultimatum. Her wraiths immediately leave the system and stop attacking the Armatocere or it's war, right here and now. Then if she hasn't completely lost it we can discuss her being "displeased" later without the elder trees around or being attacked.
>>
>>48841464
Well that's kind of a shame that we've lost our chance to spy on Akka-Tor or play her off while we plan a sneak attack on her. I would have enjoyed seeing the look on her face as she realizes what's happening. At least we'll make some brownie points with the Armatocere.

>shackles of my old god
Does Jadyk really hate the Wormstar now? I mean, we've been creative in our approach to dealing with the living this time round sure but I thought Jadyk still loved wormstar like a father. When did this change of heart happen?
>>
>>48841663
Hate might be a strong word. But the Wormstar clearly had a much narrower view of the future of the galaxy than we do now. Our purpose was shackled to its purpose.
>>
>>48841663
Felt it was more like, metaphorical shackles in that he's able to make his own decisions and forge his own path?

I could be wrong though
>>
Post music for this quest.

I know Grave really like his synth music but I'm curious what other people associate with this quest
>>
>>48841692
I don't know if it did though, the Wormstar did have a place for mortals under its domain. We know that it had mortal followers and worshipers aplenty and that it was likely responsible for giving Jor a vision of Iti'a'ropku, which we have taken up as a template for dealing with a mortal population. From what has been implied in this quest so far I get the impression that the Wormstar left the day to day policies of things like the treatment of living followers to the discretion of its generals and provided only vague directives to them about such things.

In that sense, the basic position of the Wormstar with regards to the living hasn't changed much from for Jadyk, just how exactly he executes it. Bring the living into the fold, give them a place and a means of furthering our own aims in exchange for protection, and drain and reanimate those who resolutely refuse to bend. That is still very much our MO, only this time Jadyk is placing greater status on the living and giving them a mid level leadership role in the Armada, and recruiting energy attuned individuals from their population.

TL;DR I don't think Wormstar wasn't as intrinsically malevolent as we assume, and that Jadyk is still doing things in much the same way as he used to, only with improved conditions for his subjects.

i was under the impression that it wanted all life to be converted to undeath, Jaydk being its greatest creation was still beholden to its whims and so would do as told regardless of the mission.

Now the wormstar is dead, he is free to question what is and is not in the best interests of the armada and its future.

Less of a "My god was a monster" and more a "I am now free to choose what is best"

http://ask.fm/DeathAmongTheStarsQuest/answers/138899189459

Not really, Jadyk and his fellow liches always had mortal followers, and had got them involved in the some of the major institutions of their little empire, institutions that were formed to in part to inspire them in their service to the Wormstar (it's not like the reconstructed had a morale to boost after all).

That and the liches it had running the show had quite a bit of leeway in interpreting its orders. Which is how Jadyk became one of its greatest champions, he was always much more creative and innovative in his efforts compared to his brothers and sisters.

The Armatocere procession became a flurry of activity as the cacti bruisers loped away with surprising speed and the collection of strange planets scurried either to flee to their ships or converse with the Eldertrees.

You were quickly returning to your Throne when the voice of an Eldertree rattles your skull, <Lord Jadyk, if you are a friend of the Armatocere, please aid us.>

As Kyn'tk slithers out and reforms in your hand you regain your seat and look to the large, trembling trees, "I will do what I can," you promise them as the Eyegore above and the Charnel Vault send you their scans of the system. You pour over them as the massive treeships in orbit begin to form a blockade around the planet centered over the Eldertrees location.

A data-stream is funneled to the Charnel Vault, Slrrt's voice droning over the radio with uncharacteristic fear as they send you their own data concerning the movements of the Wraiths. To your surprise they seemed to have a sensor system attuned to their strange energy and with their aid your Think Tanks predict that the Wraith presence was smaller than you had assumed.

Only twenty of them seemed to appear on within the system, attacking solitary treeships and fighters in pairs leaving withered husks in their wake. It was one of your Eyegore drones that spied the worrying aspect. A signature of Solar energy pings on its sensors and it zoomed in on a Wraith trailing behind the others, it's body enshrouded by flames that seemed to phase in and out of existence.

Wraith forces:
>1 Solar powered Wraith
>19 Wraiths

How shall you deal with these interlopers?
>>
>>48855662
Politely ask that they make like a tree and leave.

Inform them that you attempting to deal with the Armatocere peacefully and that they are throwing a wrench in our plans. Claim that we don't wish to get into a fight with the wraiths but claim that they are putting us in a difficult position.

While doing this have all our glutton spheres and dirges load up and prepare to blink into the system, but hold off until combat with the wraiths is certain.
>>

Ask them to leave, If they refuse hit them with everything. Dirges and glutton spheres devour them, ships rip into them, we annihilate them with our fury.

"Fear not, I shall deal with this," you say to the Eldertrees as your Throne moves away before rocketing into the air, passing a Coffin that had been docked to the Charnel Vault sent to gather the UON prisoners in their pods.

Across your home systems ships mobilize and prepare to come to your aid, their Skip Drives spooling up.

As you ascended higher and through the atmosphere your Flagship looms over you but rather than swallowing the Throne you circle around it till it parks on the very prow of the ship leaving you in the airless void of space. Pollen that had clung to your body drifts away with each movement as you look out towards the empty black the Wraiths were approaching from.

As you waited you see around you several cruiser-sized treeships move into a loose formation alongside the Charnel Vault sending a message that they would assist how they could. Sending your thanks you look through the system with the Eyegore and to your alarm you can no longer see the Solar-infused Wraith.

Your alarm was well-founded and a flare of solar flame appears mere meters in front of you and the missing Wraith emerges, invisible flames surrounding it as it floated before you. Tendrils twisting in the cosmic ether fade away in the distance like tethers to its strange dimension.

Accusingly you jut a finger at the Wraith, "You have no right to be here. This is a private affair and we do not appreciate the interruption. Tell Akka-Tor this will be not be tolerated," you say as Kyn'tk writhes angrily in your grasp, the mask within your armor feeling like it were shuddering like a frightened creature.

"Little worm, you have nothing to fear from us, little worm. We shall feast, yes, we shall feast," they say almost absent-mindedly as they gaze intently past you to where the Eldertrees resided and makes to drift past you.

Despite the fact that you neither had lungs or even air around you, you sigh in annoyance as the Wraith drifts past. You send a quick message to the Charnel Vault and the Armatocere ships around you a split second before Kyn'tk lashes out faster than the eye could see, several black blades forming as it slashes at the Wraith. To your regret the blades phase right through it without resistance but it recoils, almost curling in on itself like something trapped in a singularity before snapping back into its shape as it jerks away from you.

You could almost feel the animosity emanating off it as the flames that surrounded it roil and swell around it. The Charnel Vaults mind reports that at the moment of your attack the other Wraiths began to speed toward the planet at sub-light speeds. It's voice hisses in your skull, "Silly stupid worm," it says rather simply before it lashes out with hardly seen tendrils. Your Throne scrapes violently against the hull as it flies back but you still recoil as one phases through an arm, the armor cracking as it tries to drain the Necrotic energy from you. Kyn'tk lashes out once more, this time drill-like tines thrusting at the attacking wraith.

The Dirges attempted to seize onto it with their telekinetic powers but to their frustration there was just not enough to seize onto. They could sense it's presence but with each lunge of their power it seems to fade away. A small rip in space appears before it and a burst of solar flame erupts and collides with an invisible sphere of the Dirges telekinetic power revealing that at least had some physical properties, the heat making the crystal groan with the strain.

As you dueled with the solar wraith you hardly paid any mind to the Treeships flanking the Charnel Vault until the glint of crystal caught your non-existent eye. The branches of the treeships, oddly missing their common array of weapons and missile tubes twist and unfurl, revealing a core of crystal the size of a shuttle held within. The almost perfectly clear crystals shine with refracted light before they began to pulse with an inner light. You watch with fascination as the Wraiths form seems to flicker in time with these pulses, sensing it's anger turn to confusion.

Kyn'tk lashes out once more as you leap from the Throne, a multitude of fractal blades slashing at its incorporeal form. They pass through its body as the light fades only for the weapons blades to hit true solid flesh as the light flared. A silent scream that feels like it would shatter your very bones echoes from the Wraith as it pulls away, indigo blood staining your weapon and freezing into icy motes spraying away in an arc.

The lights from the crystal treeships pulses again and you thrust out your hand and with your fury boiling inside at this foolish attack you grab onto the wraith with your telekinetic might. It struggles in your grasp, its confusion turning to legitimate fear as it struggles against you. The light fades and once more you held onto nothing more than empty space.

Around you a cloud of the Armatocere fighters clash with the approaching Wraiths. Their weapons only affected them when the crystal beacons shined but each time they faded the Wraiths retaliated leaving withered husks in their passing. The Charnel Vault launches its own compliment of Nail fighters, their necrotic beams lancing the Wraiths from afar. A void-screamer turret on the Charnel Vault rotates and aims at the Solar-powered Wraith and a mighty beam leaps out to strike it.

The Wraith, recovering from the powerful blast from the Charnel Vault, let's out another scream of fury and panic as it tears open a wider cut in reality unleashing a larger flare of solar flame that roils over and engulfs you. You could sense it's smug satisfaction turn to confused panic as your body bursts through the flames, Kyn'tk lashing out ahead of you.

Truth be told, weeks ago this attack would have possibly ended you. Yet now with your own Solar power surging within you and the aura of Voidlight rippling across your form you were able to bear the brunt of the attack. Kyn'tk, alive in it's own way, lashes out with ever shifting fractal blades and tines carving pieces of the Wraith off its body or phasing through when the treeships crystal beacons faded but the pulses came with ever increasing frequency.

Several of it's tendrils lash out and phase through your torso making you cry out at the shock of it. The Wraiths voice cackles in your skull as you feel it attempting to drain you, your hard-earned power seeping away before it's touch becomes quite physical once more. It tried to pull itself from you but as your fury swelled up unlike anything you had felt before it finds itself quite attached to you.

Voidflames erupt over your form in an inferno that would make Lorgul proud, searing the tendrils embedded in your form and coiling around your bones before it tried to drain those as well. Bellowing out in the soundless void you thrust your hand forward as the light from the beacon flared its brightest and dozens of telekinetic claws rip into the Wraith.

Glittering, frozen blood is scattered with pieces torn from its physical body in mere moments before the lights fade. Your rage at your betrayal by Akka-Tor unleashes itself on this servant of her will. You can feel all encompassing terror as your tear it to pieces with your concentrated fury and it almost seems to grow relieved as the light faded.
>>
>>48859372
Yet Kyn'tk lashes out once more, this time shaped as a cruel claw of black twisting metal that mimics as your clench your fist, trapping the Wraith in your grasp. It's alien eyes stare at you as you pull it close. Solar flames, now physical and scorching your armor, engulf its suddenly corporeal form in an attempt to drive you off but you merely let out your own cackling laugh. Your jaw opens wide as it could as you drink deep of the Wraiths power, solar flame funneling into your open maw as if your were drinking it down.

Flames erupt from your form as you drain the Wraith of its power, its body struggling until it goes limp in Kyn'tk's grasp. Tossing it aside it's still, dead form is caught by the Dirges of your Throne and you turn your fury against those Wraiths still remaining.

Streaking across the cosmic void surrounded by a corona of Solar might you launch yourself against the Wraiths, Kyn'tk lashing out in perfect time with the pulsing of the light to leave their bodies in your wake as they fade into unreality. Giving yourself to the fury of the flames you hardly notice as several fightercraft both Armatocere and Necrotic are incinerated in your passing.

By the time your wits returned you were several lightseconds away from the Charnel Vault and the last of the Wraiths flee in terror before you, disappearing into pinhole singularities that slurp their forms away to retreat.

Your bones and armor burn with your new boost of solar power and you curl in on yourself, floating like a miniature sun as you focus on calming yourself to bring the flames under your control. For several long minutes you worry if this new power would burn your to ash but eventually it weakens and is drawn back into your form.

A sound of rustling leaves reaches you in the empty void, whispered words reverberating from the scorching hot mask within your armor, "We knew you would pass this unexpected test."

The Wraiths have been driven off!

Your fury wells up once more and you reach in to pull the wooden mask from your armor and glower down at it, "I grow very tired of these tests. You claim to hate Akka-Tor and turn me against her but you send her Wraiths against me?!" You very nearly fling the mask into the emptiness of space but restrain yourself just enough. Flakes of your scorched armor drift off of you with each subtle movement as you stare at the silent mask.

Scoffing you move to stuff it back into its hiding spot when the wood shifts as it speaks, carved mandibles clicking and grinding against each other, "We know you do not trust us, but with what little faith you have in the Masked, believe we do not have any control over Akka-Tor and her Wraiths. You have seen the corpse of our compatriot in her hands. You have heard her request for our death. Akka-Tor is the enemy of all things, living or unliving or neither," the mask goes still in your hand once more, resuming its static position.

You stare at it in silence for several long minutes, unmoving even as your fleet finally appears around you. Eventually you replace it in its hiding spot and reach out a hand to grab onto the side of a passing Nail. Sitting on its hull it ferries you back to the Charnel Vault and the awaiting messages of the Armatocere.

What shall you say to them?
>>
>>48859703

>>
>>48859781
Mostly this. Their losses could be more meaningful because they at least might have their own minds, while our Reconstructed are more like semi-sentient tools. Concern for their losses will impress them.

Also, let's bring a proposal of joint research in crystalline anti-wraith technology. We can improve it, and we're probably going to need it.

And one more thing: see what they think of presenting a demand to Akka-Tor that she either pay reparations to the Armatocere or face war from both of us.
>>
>>48859703
"I apologize for that interruption. My security was insufficient. I did not predict that the Wraiths would attack us here," you say as you are joined by your Throne still holding the bloodied torso of all that remains of the Wraith, "Were your losses significant? I am deeply regretful about the craft I destroyed, please take no offense. It is rare that I enter battle myself, for this reason."

It takes some time before Slrrt sends a transmission to the Charnel Vault, "If not for your intervention our losses would have been catastrophic. We thank you for your aid, the Eldertrees sending their deepest gratitude. We lost several treeships and a significant number of fightercraft," for a moment you worry at the news before Slrrt continues, "Our fightercraft are non-sentient and considered highly expendable, much like the UON's war drones."

"This is good to know. I am grateful we were able to fight together to prevent this catastrophe. I would like to propose we begin a joint session on increasing this anti-wraith technology of yours. It would benefit us both if this attack drives Akka-Tor to wage war against us," you say as the Throne floats into the Charnel Vault proper, another Dirge taking the torn Wraith corpse to the be preserved for study on the scorched world of your home system.

The Armatocere's reply came quickly, "Agreed. The Mindvines were already considering a similar proposal of their own."

WHoops, you're right

The Fast speed on it means by next thread you'll have it available to build
Mostly so I can stat it up

I just caught up and damn that was ride and half, thanks for running man. I've been meaning to ask, but could we learn to build replicas of UON and confederate ships from the vessels we captured a couple threads back?

This ones wormstar is rusted but would I be right in saying Cor'A'Ka means fist of souls

Or would that be Cor'a'Ropka
>>
So just thinking out loud here but, are exosuits equal in size to a large constructed like are they mini mechs?

We should show this hew toy to the legion and let then do as they will

But another aspect my mind traveled down in this regards, can they be designed for melee combat, say for the arena brute vs mech melee combat

But then let's take it a step further but down a different line if thinking

Immortals can they reshape themselves in cauldrons, like say tey could have 3 arms then take a dip and have 8

Following this further could they then reshape themselves into large constructed or a shape similar to a drake? or into a bioship

Was just thinking if someone earning enough favour in the arena to be allowed immortality and becoming a large reconstructed to continuer competing I the arena

>are exosuits equal in size to a large constructed like are they mini mechs?
Heavy Exosuits are indeed similar in size to a Brute Large Reconstructed while a medium exosuit is closer in size to a Fallout style Power Armor for races similar in size to humans (vorh, kosda, epikor, kesh, etc) while being slimmed down to fit larger races like osjiic, tyrre or netu.
A Plainsrunner wearing an exosuit would automatically qualify as a Heavy Exosuit with stats similar to the Crawler Reconstructed

>But another aspect my mind traveled down in this regards, can they be designed for melee combat, say for the arena brute vs mech melee combat
Yup they can definitely focus on melee combat, forgoing most weapon mounts for an increase in speed and maneuverability. Of the large Reconstructed the Brutes are the most capable of melee combat (except for maybe the Manglers in certain situations)

>>48861276
Fist of Souls roughly translates into Cor'a'Ropka, yes
Don't worry I don't really have a fully created language for the Wormstar

>>48860926
Gonna say that by this point you have a solid grasp of passing replicas of Confederate ships will come in handy for future smuggling operations and in a few days of having Reconstructed pick through the UON ships you'll unlock that knowledge as well

I have a sudden urge to create "the black scales wormstar compendium

Full of plot holes and spelling error
>>
>>48861704
Fair enough I just assumed as it was home of all souls that since it follows a similar syntax with words replacing English but keeping their order that Rop would mean home or residence with Ka being souls

It certainly makes speaking it out loud sound dark and intimidating and enjoyable to butcher together .
>>
>>48861704
>Fist of Souls roughly translates into Cor'a'Ropka
>Ka meant a different kind of soul in ancient Egyptian
>Cor'a'Ka could plausibly be Fist of Souls, but a different aspect/soul

Just throwing in my 2 coppers in this.

Ok is it an actual language or not?

As soon as we can with current wraith crystal tech we can make several (probably 3) in a sequence so one is on as the others are off
Also we have yet to gather and trade all the plant samples we can find with the Armatocere and they have yet to trade all the animal samples they can find
The animal samples can work like at the beginning of every thread we roll a d100 and get a random upgrade from that roll

Also we should build or outfit a few ships for the soul purpose of cleaning Armatocere worlds of narcotic energy like we agreed

Also if we tell them that we can absorb the powers of powered individuals and make crystal absorbers for that power the Armatocere would gather all the powered they can in exchange for crystals absorbers
>>
>>48864760
I guess if we already agreed to clean there worlds using crystal tech then there is no point hiding it, they would figure it out on there own anyway more so with one living in our city

I think Grave is making it up as he goes

He is as he stated but I figured it would be cool to catalogue the word to make a, dictionary for future use

I can't remember, is today a game day?
>>
>>48870396
Saturday. Don't think he's doing a Void disicple thread today
>>
>>48871469
He's doing that one on sat, we should probably start thinking up ideas to flesh out for the thread about what to build and we're we are going to contact the purified villiage

That way if we decide on an idea it can help grave get his write on in advance
>>
I think we should rebuild te chitin choir after reading about them on the ask page

Like not flood the city with them til the song is defending but enough to have a soft gym throughout the city
>>
>>48873743
What if we have it set up like the bells of notre dame every ring is a prayer
>>
>>48874198
That could work an maybe some alcoves throughout the city in case those more attuned to te gym can gather in reflection like it nothing forces down their throats but it's there for this who find it comforting

I was also thinking we could do something similar with rest stops for the Osogo pilgrims, little natural caves with food growing nearby with beds and tables etc while having one set up im with a mural depicting some event if scene of the wormstar history like stages of the pilgrimage the stars and the soft song to let them know they are nearing one should they become lost in the dark

Do you think larger chitin choir would be more a bass sound like ultra sound not truly heard but felt for a distance

Hell if we have them place around the arena they could sing of the combatants glories and battles to get the blood pumping and the pride soaring
>>
>>48871904
You mean the hidden village?

They seem to be a peaceful multi-species group, so they could be better candidates for rescue/integration into our empire than the Council or whoever they are. I think our best endgame is to find some way to grab that piece of the Wormstar and escape with the residents of the hidden village as refugees.
>>
So that sun made out of necrotic energy in that one system Would draining that be enough to restore us to our former necrotic might grave?
>>
>>48874956
I think the choir should be xylophones played on bone, drums of skin, string instruments of hare and sinew. Accompanied by Gregorian chants
>>

I can now picture a Skelton statue wearing nothing but a pair of sunglasses playing a saxophone struck mid swing

You know, given the sheer number of them in our city, I'd bet there is a dirge somewhere in Iti'a'ropku in exactly that pose.
>>
>>48874956
Good thinking, maybe we could integrate them into our obelisk dreamstone network, use them as markers of the Armada's presence.
>>
>>48876526
For some reason I always picture the dirges being in like formal garb and robes like old Greek philosophers or priests

Ok so since grave has update ask to explain how the Eco suits work for the legion I was thinking w should look into how we should outfit them, I was thinking for their fleet we give them a lot of drone use like the uon and reconstructed unit to assist alleviate the body count fbiur living subjects. Have the commanders search them for potential energy users to be used by the legion just really give then as much a chance of reducing casualty rates

As for te exosuits have those willing trained for use during planet drops

Can exosuits fit in drop pods? Anyway for the exosuits perhaps work then as squads if 3 armed with heacy artillery and large hard light shields but also to be followed by a contingent of reconstructed like say, 2 brutes and a squad of talons to rub interference/ human shield for them

Also we should share the exosuit tech with the lava fathe it sounds like that in melee form would e right up their alley

Hey guys, quick question for you lot. Which version of Jaydk do you guys feels is most true to his description or at least the face/armor design you like most.

I feel i want to get a group consensus on how you guys feel he should look when I draw him in future.
>>
>>48880753

ONLY CORRECT ANSWER

jokes aside, i will keep it in mind, but is it the face or the armor that fits the mood though, like is there anything i should add remove. I usually just try to do a version of the shoulder armor from the quests main image and go from there
