You suppose that you have your parents to thank for that, as the small celebration they held for you went far later into the night than you would have thought. Maybe they've been stressed and needed an excuse to celebrate, you figured last night, when you could hear their libacious clamor even after having gone to bed.

Despite having overslept thirty minutes, you still have forty-five to get ready and get to the academy, well, you would if you hurried.

You decide to but something on with function over form, a long, black trench coat-like garment with plenty of straps and pockets for all your shinobi needs that your father bought you when he made tokubetsu jonin. As you quickly brush your teeth and blitz through the door you barely hear your mother's farewell.

You decide to head right for the Academy, at a relatively brisk pace, but not enough to be winded by the time you get there. When you arrive at the Academy (nigh-abandoned, thanks to it being Saturday) you head to the classroom that you were assigned to meet your sensei in.

When you look at the clock on the wall, you notice that you have about five minutes to spare before your sensei's appointed time. You notice that your teammates are sat in the same seating area, the one closest to the door. Hakurin is sitting about halfway back and Jimmaru is in the front row, you decide to sit in between the two, and wait for your sensei to arrive.

And wait.

And wait.

And wait.

After waiting for close to half an hour, making your sensei half an hour late, you hear your teammate's voice behind you. "Our sensei wants us to meet here at ten o'clock sharp, and then can't even be bothered to show up on time?!" the Hyuuga groans.

"Don't you know the superstition, Hakurin?" Jimmaru pipes up, turning around and beaming at the girl, "when your sensei is late, it means that you're gonna get a super strong elite ninja!"

The pale-eyed girl puts a finger on her chin, seemingly pondering your suggestion. "Yeah, that could work, but you two had better help out with sensing, I don't want you to become used to using my eyes as a crutch." She activates her byakugan after responding to your suggestion.

Jimmaru appears to already be sensing for your errant teacher, and you join in. You can sense a chakra signature coming down the hall towards the door, at a somewhat relaxed pace. "That can't be right..." Hakurin says with a scrunched up face.

"What is it? Is it the Hokage?! A clan head?!" Jimmaru asks, overly excited. His enthusiasm feels contagious, and you secretly hope he's right.

Hakurin shakes her head, "No, it's, well, Hōōmaru is a boy's name right? So why do I see-"

The door bursting open cuts her off, and scares all three of you, as it was flung harder than your classroom's door yesterday, and might even be broken... However, a young, blue-haired kunoichi in a konoha flack jacket is standing in the doorway, and it looks like she's striking a pose.

"Hello my genin students! I am Hōōmaru Tachibana, your sensei from this day onward!" Your apparent sensei says in one of the bubbliest tones you've ever heard.

"Do I sense disappointment in your tone Kuro Nijiiroh?" She asks, but continues before you can answer the rhetorical question, "or are you simply implying that I sounded masculine when you were told about me?!" She puts her hand on her chest, making her way towards the section of seats your team is sat in. "Because I can assure you I am an unmatched prodigy, and am the most elegant sensei you could have hoped for!" She Captain Morgans on the desk that Jimmaru is sat at, then deadpans, almost too quietly to hear, "And it's not a boy's name..."

The brunette, who's been in a catatonic state of shock since your sensei's inburst, begins to stammer out an answer to Hōōmaru's question, "W-well, my dream is to become the most prominent and strongest Hyuuga, even if I'm not the Clan Head." She thinks for a second, "I'm most proud of my skills in the Gentle Fist, father says I'm doing quite well." Her pride at this all but dries up as she ponders the last question, "W-what do I seek in romance?!" She blurts out, "What kind of question is that?!"

Hōōmaru just clicks her tongue, "I'll come back to that question, you." This time her eyes lock onto you, and you sigh internally, it's Jimmaru's turn now. "Tell me," she points at you, "What is your dream? What are you most proud of? And what do you seek in romance?"

You don't need to think about your answer to the next question, you're a true, red-blooded denizen of the Village Hidden in the leaves! "I'm most proud of being born in the Hidden Leaf, the greatest ninja village!" Your gusto peters out for the last bit, and you say it more quietly, "I guess I would want a girl who's always forward with me." There's a moment of silence, before Hōōmaru nods, satisfied by your answer.

She then turns to Hakurin, who seems deep in thought over what she looks for as far as romance goes. "So, miss Hyuuga, do you have my answer?" your sensei sounds so damn smug, maybe you should have answered that she would be what you look for in the field of romance.

Hakurin answers her, more meekly than you've ever heard her before, "I would want a man who's strong and would always care for me..."

Hōōmaru still has that catlike grin, but now her sights are set on Jimmaru, after having nodded in approval of Hakurin's answer.

Jimmaru is grinning like a fool you notice, and you wonder how this is fun to him. "Now then," Hōōmaru starts, "last, and certainly not least, Jimmaru Uchiha, What is your dream? What are you most proud of? And what do you seek in romance?"" she queries.

"My dream is to be the Hokage, and show the Main Family that the Branch Family can be great!" His candor makes that serious-sounding dream sound almost light. "I'm most proud of my heritage, and the fact that I'm able to be a shinobi of the Leaf!" he continues, "As for romance, I wouldn't be opposed to taking you on a date, sensei." He raises his eyebrows at her, and her expression falters, before he starts laughing. "Sorry to joke like that sensei, but I would really like a girl who can cook and tolerates me."

Surprisingly, she doesn't have you hop along the rooftops, or run at full speed, and instead leads the three of you towards the training grounds.

You arrive at the training field after a somewhat short walk through the village. When your sensei wheels on you, the idle chatter between you and your teammates immediately stops. "So, my genin, are you ready for your first test under the prodigious and elegant Hōōmaru Tachibana?" The three of you answer in the affirmative. "Well then, it is currently eleven o'clock," she places a timer on the post which stands in the middle of the clearing the four of you are in, "you have until twelve thirty to take this pouch," she indicates the pouch strapped to her thigh, just beneath where her shorts end, "inside, you will find three yellow hair pins, when each of you have one, the test is over, capiche?" You all tell her you understand.

She puts on that catlike grin again, "Well then, you may begin," she remains where she was standing. Jimmaru darts off towards the trees in the direction you came, and Hakurin leaps into the treeline to the left.

You rush your sensei, which seems to surprise her. However, while your grab for the pouch does make contact, it's not contact with the pouch. Instead, your hand is firmly planted on your sensei's shorts-clad, toned, and nicely shaped ass. You have to let go, cutting your grab session short, as she sends a rising supported elbow your way. You manage to block the strike, letting the force carry you into a more upright position, from there, you take a combat stance.

Not waiting for Hōōmaru to attack again, you launch yourself at her, successfully feinting a right straight to the face and burying your left fist in her gut. Your sensei staggers back before sending a powerful thrust kick towards your face, which you narrowly dodge. You can feel the force of the kick and think to yourself that that toning wasn't for show.

Hōōmaru comes down on her other foot and is about to launch into another clash with you, before she finds her hands bound to her sides. Behind her stands Jimmaru, and Hakurin is still nowhere to be seen. Jimmaru smirks, and gives you a thumbs up. He then asks your sensei, "Was being caught part of your plan?"

"Of course!" Your sensei cheerfully replies, before beginning to shimmer.

You dive towards your sensei, and grab the pouch. As you do so, you notice movement in the trees, and also Jimmaru pinching himself, thinking this is a genjutsu, probably. This time, instead of finding purchase on the glutes of your teacher, you successfully grab the pouch, and tear it open to reveal the hairpins. Just in time for you to hear Hakurin yell something about a clone, and your sensei to explode, throwing you into the treeline, until you skid to a stop about twenty yards away from the clearing.

Your ears are ringing, and you have to blink a few times to regain your bearings. You decide that climbing a tree may be your best bet, and head for the treeline. When you peer out into the clearing, you see a dazed Jimmaru tied to the post, and Hakurin land gracefully in the middle of the clearing, byakugan activated and a kunai drawn, looking at the other side of the clearing.

From across the clearing, you hear your sensei announce "Fire Style: Vibrant Golden Display!" before a golden fireball, glowing bright enough to be hard to look at sails towards Hakurin, who barely dodges. Hōōmaru springs from the treeline, engaging Hakurin with a kunai of her own.

You decide it would be best to free one teammate, and help out the other. You through a kunai through the ropes binding Jimmaru to the post, and the falls onto his hands and knees, gasping. He then retreats to your side of the field, likely making his way to you. You then draw some shuriken from one of your pouches and start peppering Hōōmaru with them. However, your sensei is consistently dodging them.

When Jimmaru joins you in your effort, your sensei begins to have problems juggling the three of her students' assaults. Hakurin lands a palm strike on her stomach, and Hōōmaru is propelled backwards and hits a tree, hard. Oddly, Hakurin seems hesitant to go after her.

You decide to join your teammate on the ground. You draw your tonfa and leap down onto the field running up alongside Hakurin. You then launch yourselves at Hōōmaru, but not before Jimmaru lands behind you in the field, already with a kunai adorning each finger.

Two kunai sail towards the tree Hōōmaru is still propped up against, and she bobs to dodge, before you and Hakurin come at her with a flurry of blows. Hakurin pulls back, leaving you and Hōōmaru clashing, kunai against tonfa. After some fighting, and a few more of Jimmaru's kunai, you're being driven back, slowly but surely, before you hear Hakurin telling you to jump, which you do. Your sensei dodges both accelerated kunai, before she's slammed into by a wall of force.

This staggers your teacher long enough for Jimmaru to get behind her, you to get above her, and Hakurin to land in front of her, and adopt a less orthodox gentle fist stance. "Two palms!" she starts, and her glowing palms slam into your teacher, "four palms!" she continues, "eight palms, sixteen palms," you wonder if she'll go to the infamous sixty-four palms, "Eight Trigrams Thirty-Two Palms!" she shouts as the finale impacts your teacher, again staggering her. Jimmaru leaps forward to grab the pouch, but is met by the pommel of a tanto Hōōmaru appears to have drawn, though her strike seems slower and weaker than before.

You decide that you're going to grab the pouch, and drop down from your perch directly above Hōōmaru and Jimmaru, now sporting a red rectangle on his forehead. You open up the pouch, and hand a hairpin to each of your teammates as you stand up. You feel blood coming from your ear as you stand up, again. Hakurin is glaring at you, but Hōōmaru seems to be far less angry, in fact, when she talks, she's mocking you. Kaguya Otsutsuki was the mother of Hagoromo and Hamura Otsutsuki. Hagoromo was the father of Ashura, the first Senju, and Indra, the first Uchiha. Hamura was the progenitor of the Hyuuga, and Moon Otsutsuki. The Uzumaki and Kaguya also fit in there somewhere, but no one is sure exactly where.

You decide that it would be best to ignore your mother's girlfriend comment entirely, and instead opt to introduce her your new teammate and sensei, she already knows Hakurin. "Mom, this is Jimmaru Uchiha, my new teammate," you indicate the boy to your right, "and this is my new jonin sensei, Hōōmaru Tachibana." You say as you indicate your sensei sitting next to Hakurin.

"You had better keep my son safe," she says to Hōōmaru, "and make sure he doesn't advance too fast." She finishes, obviously referencing your sister. "It's nice to meet you, Jimmaru, I hope you're getting along with my son, I know he can be a bore."

Before you can act in righteous indignation, Jimmaru responds to your mother, "It's nice to meet you to, ma'am, and don't worry, your son is quite the showman!" This is an obvious reference to the earlier incident, which you're sure you'll never live down at this point.

Hōōmaru-sensei also pipes up and mentions how nice it is to meet your mother, and pledges to meet both criteria. This seems to assuage your mother's (invalid) fears.

"I wouldn't worry about Hōōmaru-sensei's dedication to the leaf, ma'am," Jimmaru pipes up again. The poor boy can't seem to keep his mouth shut, and you don't envy the training he'll get at the end of the week...

Your mother kisses you on the head, ruffles your hair, and returns to her office after promising that your entrees will be out soon. This gesture elicits ribbing from your team, and you wish that you had gone to Soba King...
