Channeling energy into your right fist, you pull your arm back, and punch the incoming blast with all the force you have.

Much like what Olibu did to you, you turn Goku's own attack right back on him. You can see your friend's eyes go wide with shock, and he raises his arms to block the blast, but even so, the impact is enough to throw him off his feet and send him slamming to the ground, where he rolls back several times before coming to a stop.

Never one to let an attack stop him for long, Goku launches himself back to his feet, looking at you with an intense expression that serves as a warning of what is to come. Goku's taking the gloves off now, and you had best prepare yourself.

Yelling at the top of his lungs, he explodes forward, only to vanish from sight after a few short steps.

You close your eyes, attempting to feel out his location through the vibrations in the air. But, there's a problem; he's moving so fast that you feel signals coming from everywhere.

Goku could come from anywhere at any time, and if your difficulty tracking him so far is any indication, you won't be able to stop him from attacking.

The best solution you can see is to attempt the same move you used against Mr. Popo. The idea is a bit risky, as last time you made use of it, you forced yourself into unconsciousness by using too much energy.

But, practice makes perfect, and you aren't going to let Goku get the better of you.

Locking your elbows at your side, and letting out a yell that really puts your lungs to the test, you take the energy in your body and let it erupt in every direction around you.

Yellow light fires in all directions, and Goku lets out a surprised yell as some of it strikes him, knocking him to the ground and making him roll on his side.

Breathing heavily, you fall to one knee. You haven't knocked yourself out this time, but you have used a good deal of energy.

To make matters a bit worse, Goku doesn't seem to have been too badly injured. You've forced him to reveal himself, and bought yourself some time, but you certainly did not come close to taking him out of this battle.

Steeling yourself, you rise back to your feet, watching as Goku begins to push himself back up.

Not wanting to give Goku the chance to recover, you rush toward him as fast as you can, which, given that you're wearing weighted clothes, is significantly slower than you would normally.

You push yourself as hard as you can, but are simply too slow, giving Goku enough time to become aware of your approach and prepare himself.

Abandoning his initial plan to stand, he instead springs from the ground, nailing you in the face with a headbutt that knocks you onto your backside.

Clutching your nose, you look at your friend through eyes that are quickly beginning to tear up.

Goku laughs, giving you a peace sign. "Master Roshi always said I have a hard head."

"Master Roshi was right," you tell Goku as you get back to your feet, dropping back into a defensive stance.

Goku sighs. "That again? Don't you know how to do anything else?"

Despite his professed disappointment at your repeated use of defensive tactics, he does oblige you in your desire to fight on defense.

His approach is quite basic, as he rushes toward you at full feed, a look of determination you've come to expect from him on his face as he quickly closes the gap between you.

Yelling, he does a jumping spin kick which you block with your left arm. Not letting himself fall just yet, he takes a page from Krillin's book and strikes your arm repeatedly with a barrage of powerful kicks.

Your left arm before to feel numb, and you take the chance to counter, swinging at him with a right-hook.

Goku seels to have expected something like this, as he quickly wraps his tail around your left bicep and swings himself down under the punch, coming up between your arms and giving a strong kick to your jaw, moving your head skyward as he flips back, landing in a crouch and springing from the ground right at you.

Recovering quickly from Goku's strike, you put yourself back on the defensive, fighting with all your might to stave off Goku's further attacks.

Your weighted clothes and Goku's admittedly superior strength put you at a serious disadvantage, quickly forcing you into a retreat. Step by step you're forced back as you struggle to keep Goku at bay, barely succeeding in your endeavors.

Two advantages keep you from being quickly overwhelmed; your size, and Popo's training. Goku has no choice but to get in close if he wants to make an attacks, and your longer reach enables you to make that quite difficult for him. In addition, by reading the vibrations in the air, you're able to anticipate his moves, giving you a fighting chance at stopping them.

Goku attacks in a variety of ways, sometimes aiming low from the ground, sometimes leaping and attacking the upper portions of your body. His random combination of attacks on various areas requires you to guard each and every part of your body, which makes your defensive efforts even more difficult.

At this rate, he'll either wear you down or force you off the Lookout. You need to counter.

You throw a roundhouse kick with your left leg, but Goku drops under it, sliding behind you and leaping up, aiming to attack you from behind.

Popo's teachings save you once again, as you're aware of what he's doing before he can even fully put it in motion.

You spin and slam your right elbow into Goku's face, repaying him for his earlier attack.

Goku grunts in surprise and pain, being thrown back by your punch.

He may be right. You can't keep fending these off forever, and you've used more energy so far than he has.

But, you won't go down without a fight. As Goku punches with his right hand, you reach up and grab his fist, prompting him to strike with his left. You catch this punch as well, then throw your head forward, slamming it into his face.

Goku's head swings back, and he answers with a headbutt of his own.

You headbutt Goku again, but this time, you release his hands as your head impacts against his face.

He staggers back, putting himself in a good position for you to give him a good kick to the chest, pushing him away from you and allowing you to safely get back up.

The two of you stare at one another, then smile before rushing forward and resuming the fight.

It continues for what feels like hours, the back and forth continuing as each of you gain and lose the advantage in the battle. Neither of you pull any punches, and you both end up with some serious bruises and scorch-marks by the time the fight ends.

Neither of you are knocked unconscious, and neither of you give up. The battle probably would last well into the night were it not for Popo.

"Alright, that's enough," Kami's assistant says, getting between you and Goku as the two of you rush at one another again.

He catches a punch from you and a kick from Goku, stopping you both in your tracks and keeping you immobilized for a few moments.

"You won't be able to train tomorrow if you break each other's bodies today," Popo scolds. "Let's call this match a draw."

"Aww, come on, Mr. Popo!" Goku pleads. "I don't want to stop!"

You do as Popo says, stopping the match. He probably does have a point; had the two of you continued until one of you was beaten, you both would be in pretty bad shape.

The battle is over. You may not have won, but you didn't lose. And, you've learned an important lesson. Goku's strength and speed were above your own, and he knew your fighting style as well as you knew his, yet Popo's training allowed you to hold your own. You were simply better prepared for this confrontation, and sometimes that trumps strength.

You bow to Goku, and he smiles before doing the same.

Popo nods, satisfied that the two of you have listened, and turns away, starting toward the building.

"Mr. Popo," you say to him before he gets far.

Popo stops, glancing back at you. "Hmm?"

"Is there any way I can send letters to my friends?" you ask.

"Perhaps, but I believe Kami would rather you spend your time training than writing letters," Popo answers.

The two of you go back to training, with Goku heading over to a spot near the building's entrance, taking a seat, and closing his eyes.

You, on the other hand, start doing pushups, working on amplifying your energy in short bursts while doing them. Your goal is to have it be a second-nature type of thing for you, allowing you to make virtually every hit more powerful than it would be otherwise.

Soon enough, night comes, and you decide to call it quits for the day.

During your training today, Popo kept his word and brought you both some paper and some utensils to write with. So, you sit down and write three letters.

The first two are to Lapis and Lazuli, apologizing for not stopping by to visit before leaving on their training. You explain to them what you're doing and where you are, and ask them how they've been. You also make sure to ask what sort of crazy ideas Briefs has been running their way.

You write the last letter to Bulma, letting her know that you miss her, and that you won't be needing those weighted clothes. And, of course, you're sure to ask her as she's doing.

Once all's said and done, you call for the Dark Nimbus, and ask it to deliver the letters for you. The cloud speeds off to do its job, and Goku comes walking over.

His face lights up at the topic. "Well, I saved a village from these two bad men who were sucking people into jars, I went to the land of demons and fought a really strong guy named Shula, and I tried to stop Tenshinhan and Chaozu from tricking villagers."

"Did you meet any nice people during those trips?" you ask.

He nods. "Lots of them!"

"Well then, why don't you try writing to some of them?" you suggest. "And maybe Suno and Eighter; they asked about you when I was in Jingle Village."

"I can help you write the letters," you tell Goku.

"Alright," he says, glad for the help.

As it turns out, it was probably a good thing that you helped him write, as he's really not good at it. Beyond that, he's not the most thoughtful person, so his initial ideas for letters are short to the point where you could fit them all on a single post-it-note. So, you have to coax some more out of him as you help him write.

"So, what kind of people did you meet?" you ask.

"I helped a girl named Chao save her village from Terror and Plague," Goku answers. "She was pretty nice. I met her when she was looking for someone to help, and she told me Terror and Plague were very strong. She also told me about these flowers that used to grow near her village."

Huh, maybe he remembers well, but just doesn't think well.

"Then I helped Chin and Shoken protect their school from a man named Sky Dragon," Goku goes on. "Chin was a strong fighter, but he was very sick, so he couldn't fight in a special tournament. I filled in for him."

That's pretty neat, you guess.

"Then I came to a kingdom where a girl named Misa got kidnapped by a demon named Shula," Goku tells you. "Her dad gave me lots of food, then asked me to rescue her. So I went to the demon land to look for her. Shula was too strong for me, so I used light to blind him and ran away with Misa. Then I got even more food!"

Of course, he focuses on food.

"And I found villages being attacked by a creature called Inashikacho, so I said I'd stop it," Goku goes on. "But it turns out Tenshinhan and Chaozu were having it attack villages so they could stop it and make money. I tried to tell the villagers, but they didn't believe me. I saved Inashikacho, and we're friends now. He lives with a girl called Tanmen."

Sighing, you lie back, looking at the sky. "Man, it's beautiful tonight."

"The sky!" you say, pointing up. "All the stars, the moon-"

Your blood runs cold.

"Yeah, the moon's really big tonight," Goku comments from next to you.

You look over to see your friend begin to shudder, his body slowly growing until his clothes begin to rip. He grows larger, and much hairier, his face extending into a snout and many of his teeth turning into fangs.

You wake up sometime later, feeling like you were hit by a truck. But, you're alive, and that's what really matters.

Goku doesn't remember what happened, but Kami convinces him to have his tail removed, explaining to him that the moon will have to be destroyed otherwise. It takes a bit for Goku to get used to not having a tail again, but he's determined, so he manages just fine.

And so, training goes on, the two of you pushing yourselves to your absolute limits and beyond. Kami and Popo have you do all sorts of things, starting with rather simple bits of training like dragging massive stones around while wearing your weighted clothes, and going on to stranger things such as training in a white room where time moves much slower.

In the meantime, you keep in contact with your friends through letters, and Goku gets his fair share of mail as well. With the two of you being stuck on the Lookout for so long, it's nice to hear from other people.

You also make sure to come up with at least one new technique (brainstorm and I will assign rolls for them)
