Recently: You're with the group that's gone to break into the pharmacy to steal a drug that blocks psychic activity.

General rules:

There is a 10 minute voting period after each post. Non-contradictory votes will be combined as best as possible.

Write-ins for all votes are always welcome and encouraged. They may not all make it into the post or be altered to fit in, but I'll do my best to at least try to address the spirit of the write-in.

Very important or contentious votes may be redone in a stricter voting system as it comes up.

Combat involves rolls! Once there's a clear vote winner, we roll for the move accuracy/crit/secondary effect. Usually it's just three 1d100s. Sometimes you can get a modifier from circumstances, so be creative! Add flair, do tricks with moves, mess with terrain, whatever! This is not a video game. Weak moves tend to be quicker.

Call me out on a mistake and receive an apology butt or suggestive picture.

You’re going with the smaller group to the pharmacy. You ride on top of Devon. He constantly leaps from one side of the road to the other to check out every little thing. He’d listen if you got him to focus, but he’s enjoying himself.

Emma, on her Mamoswine, laughs. Jeanine is also riding on Mamoswine.

Selina, the psychic trainer you fought in the league, is here too. She awkwardly looks at you once in awhile. She probably still feels weird about getting caught trying to cheat. You’re surprised to see her here, but you guess with her psychic abilities she’s an asset.

Sato, Vernon, and Schechena are all getting nostalgic over stuff from a million years ago.

Everyone is treating this like a milk run.

You pass a sign saying that the town is only a few kilometers away.

“So what’s the plan?”

Emma looks a little guilty. “It’s behind the counter. We’ll have to bust in and take it. But the league will compensate the after this is all over.”

>Then let’s make it quick. Smash and grab!

“Alright! Let’s make it fast, then”

Your group arrives fairly close to the main street of the tiny town. Or hamlet. Or whatever.

It’s just across the streets from the bushes you’re all hiding in. You scope it out to see if there’s anything to watch out for. No Team Imperium members that you can see. There are two cops, though. They’re just chatting and taking their time.

“Let’s just wait them out, they’ll leave eventually.”

“We should take them out. Just disable them so they can’t complicate things.”

There’s still some more debate. Every gym leader and Elite Four has a different philosophy on approaching a problem, so there’s always some disagreement.

“We can’t attack the police!”

“Well we can’t trust anybody. Who knows how many people Hornbeam has turned.”

“He can’t get everybody. I’m sure he’s more concerned about mayors. This is the middle of nowhere.”

>>
“Wait. I have an idea. We can draw them away and keep them busy.”

The others nod. That’s a good idea.

You reach for your belt. Who do you want to send to fake going on a rampage?

Levi is the obvious choice, but a coastal town like this might have a countermeasure like the electric net Joey was going for on his boat. Still, she could easily get everyone’s attention just by roaring. And she’s smarter and tougher than a random wild Gyarados, right?

You go a bit back into the bushes and take out Devon. He’s a bit confused at why you want him to go cause a scene, but he understands that it’s important, so he’ll do his best.

“Remember. Don’t hurt anybody. Just get the attention of the police and get out of there if it gets too intense.”

He grunts seriously, then runs off.

You return to the group a few feet away, and watch. After a few minutes, the police pick up their radios, make a joke about Mrs.Jenkins exaggerating a lost Houndour or something. They leave, still taking their time.

“That’s our cue! Let’s go, people!”

Your group power walks across the empty street to the pharmacy. You see a camera pointing at the entrance. You’re just outside of it’s view, though.

You recommend using String Shot on the camera.

“Wise.” Sato agrees as he orders his Sewaddle to handle it.

Your group enters into the store with a purpose. The married couple running in looks confused at the large group of strangers.

“Can I help y-”

Jeanine leaps to hold open the door leading to the back. The older man was just about to close it, probably locking you out. “I’m really sorry but we don’t have a lot of time.”

“Now wait just a minute.” He tries to pull it closed. Emma and her Pokemon help. She starts rummaging through the inventory in the back. She has the man enter the code for an electronic safe, then sends him away. “Here it is.” She gets a few Pokemon to help. Vernon, Sato, and Schechena keep a lookout at the front of the store or watch the couple.

The man tries to look at what she’s grabbing in the back, but he’s kept away. “Look. Take what you want, but don’t hurt us. There’s money in the register.”

“I swear we’re not bad people,” Jeanine insists.

The couple doesn’t seem to have recognized your group. You guess they don’t follow Pokemon battles or the league.

Vernon whispers to Schechena and the others. “We should take the money and all sorts ‘a stuff. Make this look like an unspecific type a robbery. Maybe we’ll fly under the radar.”

Emma turns to Vernon. “What?”

“If we just steal the drug, Hornbeam will know where we are.”

Schechena steps in, half joking. “In that case, you might as well torch the place to cover our tracks.” She gestures to a second camera on the inside that’s seen at least Emma and Jeanine. It looks much older and lower quality than the one that was outside. Damnit. Frying the system would have made sure you weren’t recorded. At the same time, it might have made getting through that electronic lock pretty tricky.

“Off site.” The pharmacist lies. You can tell from his wife's reaction. It’s somewhere in the building.

“Come on, let’s just search for the tapes.” You whisper to the others.

As you’re searching, you make sure to visibility and clearly rummaging through the register, pocketing the cash in front of the couple. You feel pretty guilty. They seem like they’re not bad people.

You and your group take a few minutes to look around. You keep grabbing random assortments of boxes of pills and cough drops and anything else. Hopefully the couple and the police report will just see this as a strange robbery. There’s no way something like this will even be something that Hornbeam hears about,

“Found it!” Selena finally says at last. You suspect she was doing some mind reading, but she has the sense not to be obvious about it. It’s under a cupboard that doesn’t look like it opens. You grab the tape and head out the door.

“Go go go!” Everyone heads to the bushes. There’s a strong sense of tension because of how long that took.

Since the pharmacy is a bit more elevated than other parts of the town, you can see Devon being cornered by the police. He’s firing off small warning shots to keep them away. An officer lifts his radio and signals to the other. Looks like they’re splitting up. One will come after your group while the partner makes sure Devon doesn’t burn anything down.

You head into the bushes with the rest of your group. Devon will be fine.

Your group is full of old people, but the Pokemon they’re riding are plenty fast. You get a good long distance before you slow down.

To be safe, you play your flute. You try to go for notes that people can’t hear, but you can’t entirely be sure you’re playing it at all.

“I really don’t feel good about what we did.” Emma confides in you as you take a break at a stream. She takes a drink from a small flask. “This whole thing is stressful. I don’t want the others to see how much it’s getting to me, but I’m worried about the other group. I’m worried... worried about what happens if we can’t stop Hornbeam. The man is unhinged.” She takes another large gulp. She offers it to you. “Aren’t you worried at all?”

You’d be lying if you said you weren’t worried about Devon and the other group. But is that something you should tell her if she’s having a moment of doubt?

You take the flask. Emma is a weird role model. She’s a surgeon, a pilot, and an Elite Four member. She’s also a drunk and in a weird relationship with Geno. You don’t know the exacts of it, but it seems like they’re on and off a lot. She has so much of her life together, and so much not. You guess everyone is like that to some degree or another, though.

Ugh. yeesh. This is strong. You take a good long drink though. The more you drink, the less she’ll have. “Everyone worries. But Hornbeam being unhinged is exactly why we’ll win.”

She considers your words for a bit. “I guess that makes sense. Still. How do you win against something like mind control? I don’t even like saying it. It just seems so...sci fi.”

You put a hand on her shoulder. “Relax. We can’t lose. Not with Robin leading us.”

She laughs. “Yeah. I have to say, that match she had was something else.” She looks you up and down. “But I think you might be able to win. You’re pretty good, yourself.” She leans a bit too close. Her face is inches from yours. She boops your nose. “Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve been cheering for you. I don’t have anything against Robin, but you’re my favorite. Shhhh!” Her silencing finger runs down your face and pulls your lips a little. She goes to open her flask again.

“Maybe we should slow down a bit.”

“Yeah.” She looks at you and the flask. “Yeah. You’re right. I’ll want to save some for if we don’t win.”

Just then, Devon comes out of the bushes. He looks very tired, but unhurt. He licks your face. “You just have to have some faith.”

Emma smiles. She puts her flash away and splashes some water on her face.

>Tell her you’re not holding a grudge about the match. She should relax.

>Ask Vernon about sympathetic mega-evolution

We've got a tiny bit of time. Let's capitalise.
>>
How do you think everyone will end up after the quest?
>>
>>48562387
What did you think of the idea of Hornbeam trying to humiliate Violet put forward at the end of last thread, Gobble?
>>
>>48562500
Slves to the hornbeam human-pokemon master race
>>
>>48562500
Back at the start in another timeline after Hornbeam kills Robin and Kat plays the flute to make him not be born.
>>
>>48562500
Kat, Robin, and Clair will wind up merged into one superior organism after a botched attempt to share sensations while fucking. This being, this New God, will combine peerless planning with exceptional training and quick thinking, all backed by limitless psychic power. The world will tremble in fear. All butts will be claimed.
>>
>>48562547
[I like it. It's also given me an idea for a twist on what I was planning.]
>>
>>48562572
ominous

Why did anons try to kill Violet?
>>
>>48562500
On a more serious note, Vance'll be running a fitness gym, Jeanine will probably do some aura reading stuff, Robin and us will live on a farm and stuff, maybe also owning her dad's gym, dunno about other-girlfriend.
>>
>>48562572
Considering Violet's leanings, it wouldn't surprise me if she tried to use Hornbeam's device for her own ends.
>>
>>48562601
Because some anons got super-anal over a fictional character.
>>
>>48562629
> Sudden plot twist during final battle, Violet busts in with Mewtwo, she puts on the helmet, only to be murdered by mewtwo who then puts on the helmet to achieve ultimate power
Screencap this
>>
>>48562387
That's a hell of a good butt.
>>
>>48562652
Eh, Mewtwo needs Violet alive for Mega-Evolution.
>>
>>48562682
>implying it can't just rip her mind out, shred it into pieces, and install the bit which controls mega evolution in a miniscule partition inside it's vast mind.
>>
>>48562652
We'd better try and find a Master Ball.

“Relax,” you tell her. “We’re cool.”

“Uhh. Thanks,” she looks away. “Sorry. It’s just...you and Robin. You’re on another level. I never had a place being that far in the league. I don’t belong here, either.”

You try not to roll your eyes. Everyone is so down on themselves today! “You a good battler. Don’t be so hard on yourself. Your Pokemon looked like they trained hard, too.”

She looks like she feels silly. “Thanks. Sorry for being a buzzkill. I’ve been thinking a lot about you and Clair. I want to make a difference here, but I feel like I’m just a nobody in a group of legends, you know?”

You’re not sure what to say, but luckily, she seems satisfied with just letting that out.

You roll up to Vernon and ask about sympathetic mega evolution. He tells you that he’s not sure if that’s the best name for it, but he doesn’t know of a better one. The idea is that it’s a level deeper than just mega-evolution. It requires being more in sync. More trusting. He doesn’t know exactly how long it’d take, but you should work on trust exercises if it’s something you want to pursue.

You arrive back and the cabin and meet the other half of the team. It sounds like their mission went off without a hitch.

Alex is speaking to the group as Robin stands in the back. She’s looking more in charge than this morning. “Alright people. Don’t get too excited. This was the easy part. Next, we’ll be going to Harmony Mountain. After we leave tomorrow morning, we’ll-” Alex stops and looks out a cabin window. You and a bunch of others peer out.

There’s a huge swarm of Mankey and Primeape rushing down the road.

“Is it a swarm, or Hornbeam?”

“M-Mankey’s do swarm, but it’s usually earlier in the year.”

“And not in this area. We’re not at their jungle.”

“We’re not far from it, either.”

>Quick! Turn off all the lights and hide
>This cabin is too small. We need to get outside so we can fight!
>Everyone, use Repel! (If it’s a swarm, they’ll avoid you. If they’re being sent by Hornbeam, it’ll give you away)

If it comes to a fight, well we'll have to hope Brook's friend has the place insured.

You run to the lights and turn them off. Everyone takes the cue and shuts up stays out of view of the windows. The ground shakes as thousands of feet, paws, and tails rush over the area. One or two run directly over the house, but most go past it. It’s still really loud, though. A few items almost fall of shelves before it passes.

The group sighs in relief as the storm of Pokemon subsides.

“Looks like it was just a swam.”

“That’s the tricky part about all of this. If he’s controlling swarms of Pokemon, he’s destabilizing the environment. The Mankeys might be swarming because of something else he did.”

The group collects themselves and starts relaxing again. Robin and Alex will go back to presenting the plan in a minute, but they let everyone chat a bit first.

You think there’s a lesson here. The whole group has been really paranoid. There’s an unspoken assumption that something really terrible is going to happen.

Yeah. Everyone just needs to take the paranoia down a notch. You-

There’s a Team Imperium member outside. You see their Golem flying through the air, seconds away from crashing through the main window.

Schechena is standing right where it’s going to land.

You don’t have time to waste. You reach for Dan’s Pokeball with one hand as you push open the window with the other. You throw the ball out. “Dan! Go!”

Come on. Come on!. The ball flies through the air and opens. The rolling Golem is coming at you with incredible speed. The flash of light appears.

Come on!

You can see the Golem bearing down on you in slow motion. You know that if it hits, it’ll blast right through the room and anyone in it’s path.

Your view of it is obscured by a metal shine. There’s a deep TONG that reverberates in your chest and Dan goes crashing into the soft ground. The Golem flies way overhead and lands safely beyond the cabin.

Dan lifts himself from his embedded spot, taking a few bits of mud and grass. He shakes it off.

“We’ve got company!” Connie yells as she throws her Snorlax towards the Golem.

[That’s it for tonight. Sorry about the slow/late thread. Looking forward to getting back in the swing of things]
