After breakfast, you decided to head into the fairgrounds near the spectator stands with your crew. Denise and Hilda were probably somewhere around there, having fun, and considering Denise has already given up so much time to be your PA, you might as well give her a break just this once.

Really though, the reason you were here was because… “Ellie!” You see your parents by their car, waving at you. You decided to see if they actually came, and they did! Oh boy… Mom and Dad walk up to you, sunshine and rainbows. You can’t imagine the long drive they must have took down from Jersey. “Hey, it’s your crew!”

“Yeah, yeah,” you say. “Um, sorry, I didn’t properly introduce you all to-“

“Elliot Zumwalt,” he says, patting his chest proudly. “This is my wife, Elizabeth.”

“I’m Winona!” Winona bites her lip, smiling happily. “Do you have more Ellie baby pics?” FOR FUCKS SAKE.

“As a matter of fact I-“ Mom slaps Dad upside the head. “… don’t.”

You motion to the rest as well. “This is Stack, she’s my loader.” Stack grins, showing off her strong arm to Mom and Dad. “Ingrid, my RO.” Ingrid nods, happily shaking hands with Mom and Dad. “And Josephina, my driver.” Josephina shyly nods to them, smile on her face. “This is my crew. Crew, my parents.”

“It’s nice to meet y’all,” says Stack. Her eyes slowly drift down to Mom’s very generous chest. “I can see Ellie gets her looks.” You slap Stack upside the head, silencing her. “… and her discipline.”

Mom giggles a little. “Well, hey, I’m glad you all are taking good care of our sweetpea. A crew like you guys only comes once every so often. Ellie, you’re pretty lucky.” You shrug. They’re great, you won’t lie. “Well, we’re gonna go find our seats.”

Winona raises her hand, stopping them. “Can I see more Ellie pics when she was a kid? I’ll trade pics of Cuddles when he was a little noodle!" Your Mom and Dad look at you, confused. You shrug.

“Okay!” Dad laughs a bit, pulling out his wallet and letting dozens of pics unfold out. Winona immediately starts squealing at them.

You decide to quickly push your parents away from Winona. “Aw, come on!” says Winona.

“Go meet at the tank,” you say. “I’ll be back with you soon.” Stack starts gossiping with Winona about the baby pics, and the two of them start giggling as they walk off with Ingrid and Josephina. Oh those little shits, you’ll show them something when you see them again later. “So, Mom, Dad?” You smile at them, and they smile back at you, happily following your lead. “Need anything to eat or drink?”

“We brought our own food,” says Dad. “It’s like going to a Football game, smuggle your own food in because the prices here are outrageous. They’d rob millionaires blind out here.”

“And ten dollars for a bottle of water?” says Mom. “I could get thirty water bottles at a grocery store for that price.”

“And let’s not even mention the fact that it costs 50 bucks to park in a lot,” says Dad. You blink. Where did they decide to park? “So we’re gonna take our car and park it out in the battlefield.”

“You- what!?”

“Relax!” says Dad. “NATO will compensate us. We can get a better car!” Oh. Actually, that’s not entirely a bad idea. “Of course, they don’t allow people onto the battlefield some hours before the match so-“

“Don’t break the law, Dad,” you say.

“Aw…”

“Elizabeth?!” You all stop, then look to see a woman your mom’s age standing in front of an M1A2 Abrams painted in OD with Team USA livery. “Is that you!?” Mom’s eyes quickly go wide as the woman approaches. “Oh my God, it’s been so long and…” She blinks. “Wow, you really kept your er…” The woman rubs her hands together. “Figure! Elliot, nice to see you as well! Aw, and look at you!” She looks down at you happily, grinning. “You must be Elodie!”

“Who are you?” you ask.

The woman smiles. “I’m Francine Perez, I was your mother’s commander back in High School tankery!” Miss Perez smiles at Mom, who quickly forces a smile on her face. “Funny seeing you here! I thought-“

“Francine.” Mom quickly whispers into Francine’s ear. Francine blinks, gasping. Mom nods.

“Oooohhh…” Dad and you look at each other confusedly. “Oh, okay. Well, hey, if you want to catch up, that’s fine. I’ll be here.”

“No, no, it’s okay,” says Mom. “Uh, you guys go on ahead.” You watch confusedly as Mom and Francine go off to the Abrams to catch up a bit.

“Do you know her?” you ask Dad.

“Yeah, she was your Mom’s commander back in High School. She went pro straight out of High School,” says Dad. “Didn’t think she’d recognize us.”

“Well, uh… I should go, Dad, you know the way?”

Dad nods. “Yeah, alright. Good luck, Ellie!” And with that, he turns and leaves, whistling to himself. Right, time to engage stealth mode. You crouch down, then quickly sneak past a whole load of confused people (fuck they noticed you). You hurry past a few crates of water and a few shells, then hide behind a small motorbike.

There, you’re in perfect earshot of Mom and Francine as they talk. “So how’s your girl?” asks Francine.

“Perfect. She’s actually making more money than me and Elliot right now being an Officer on LGA.”

Francine giggles a bit, patting the side of her tank lovingly. “Already carrying on the legacy, huh?”

“There wasn’t really a Zumwalt legacy to begin with, Francine. You were always the smart one, I just fired the gun,” says Mom.

“Just firing the gun is an insult to you, Elizabeth.” Francine folds her arms, frowning a bit. “You were the best gunner on our team, probably the entire state.” Mom sighs, placing her hands on her hips and looking down. “I’m not trying to guilt you or anything, but you know, the Tankery bug never really leaves. I could probably talk to my GM, maybe we could draft you for next season.”

“As if,” says Mom. “That’s nice of you, Francine. But that was High School, we’re in our 30s. No team’s gonna take a chance on me, especially with what got me out of Tankery.” Francine nods, solemnly. “You know why I try not to talk about my Tankery stuff too much with Elodie, right?”

Mom was an elite gunner? But-… how? Your phone rings. SHIT. You quickly dive behind some crates, avoiding detection. You look at your phone.

>>
>>48555385
Reckon that the legendary Nashorn will rock up, maybe the AA Crusader as a counter to us

They're going to have to be fairly static because they don't have many turreted tanks left

I reckon the plan should be making a series of probing assaults to determine their position and defences before taking a condor moment and deciding how we'll break them
>>
>>48555422
>>48555449
I think we should play the waiting game to some extent and widdle down their forces.

Also why don't they have Marder Is?
>>
>>48555475
Too underpowered for the role of TD. The Marder II/IIIs are the cheapest option while packing a sizable punch and not being a complete liability like the ZIS-30.
>>
>>48555513
>>48555475

>>
>>48555513

>>
>>48555534
Well I assume they don't have any armor due to the Lorraine Chassis it was based on.

so I assume they never bothered or upgraded, though it does bring to mind they upgraded those but not their light/cruiser tanks.

>>48555584

Well the practical reason for sticking with the II/III series is because there are plenty of spare parts available if you design your logistics around it (Most teams keep Panzer IIs around as trainers or scouts but utilize Panzer IIIs as scout tanks more often due to the bigger gun and potential to upgrade into a StuG. As for the 38(t), the cost to upgun it to a Hetzer is relatively expensive for most poor schools like Sherbrooke.)

Unlike schools like LGA which are middleweight in funding for the Tankery program or Heinlein or Kursk which practically worship it, Sherbrooke can't really afford to buy and maintain too many different tanks of too many different designs. The cruisers/lights they own are from a previous iteration of the school, and the cost to maintain those is making Mackenzie consider selling them off to replace them with German mediums.
>>
>>48555618
then wouldn't their logistical train be better if they had exchanged their T-70s and Crusaders with Panzer IIs and Panzer 38(t)s?
>>
>>48555721
The way I see it, the 38 (t) was a Czech design that was taken in by the Germans. So in the end, we're still having some logistical issues.
>>
> Go find Griselda

“Griselda,” you call out to her as you approach her map table. Her little area for planning is set in the shade of her Easy Eight tank, Janus. Her two crewmembers, Yuno and Luisa, are busy play wrestling with each other. Griseld and Iris smile at you as you approach. “What’s the plan look?”

“Well, we’re too few, and Mackenzie isn’t stupid. So I’m thinking static defense. This time we’ll settle in around the Sunset Harbor road, and place Iris at the north end and Serina and myself at the south end. We’ll keep the Flag tank shrouded behind cover.”

“Who’s the flag?” They both look at you. “Oh, god.”

“Yep, you,” says Griselda. “Don’t worry, you’ll be fine.”

God save you now.

“We’ll put you under the guard of Serafina and Regina. You’ll support them in a brawl, they’ll support you in a slugfest. Got that?” You nod slowly. “Don’t worry about it. If it comes to it, we can try luring them into another brawl like last match.”

“And if it doesn’t?” you ask.

“Well…” The three of you know fully that they have the advantage in a straight slugout over distance. “Let’s not worry about it. You’ll be fine.”

You stand turned out of the hatch as you watch the other tanks move on. Attached to your engine block is now is a dinky little blue flag, indicating your status as the flag tank. It’s illegal to intentionally obscure it from view, which means even if you hide behind a small hill, it’ll probably give you away.

Ugh, you’re starting to understand how Serafina feels now. Being the flag sucks. And the match hasn’t even begun proper. “Everyone know the plan?” asks Griselda. Everyone says yes. “Good! To your stations then, on the bounce!”

Iris goes north with Suvorov and Dalia. Griselda heads south with Serina. That left you with Serafina and Regina.

Serafina’s Pershing rolls up next to you. “What are your orders?”

If we station the Poles slightly forward of our position, in the event of our being attacked they can collect enemy fire while the IS2 engages at longer range? The 122's a field gun, it can put HE a loooong way downrange, and that should work reasonably well against the lighter armoured TDs.
>>
>>48556336
> Other
Move South into the slight urbanised area down there, we can dig in there without as much fear of being sniped.

We should've rushed the city over the southern bridge, there we'd be able to fight them in an environment where they couldn't use their range against us. Ah well, that's what I get for being a couple hours late.
>>
>>48556615

>>
>>48556718
I meant the team in general, and getting out of an open area is the quickest/easiest way to not die. Sherbrooke's bringing a scary amount of long range firepower this round so getting off the open field and into an urban setting, even if it's a small one will greatly increase our chances of not just getting dunked by Long Shot before we even see the enemy.

“Alright, Josephina, stay in the tank. Everyone else, grab a shovel and some bushes, we’re digging in!” You, Stack, Ingrid, and Winona bail out then grab shovels. Serafina and Regina get the same idea as well, hurrying to grab their own shovels and dig themselves in. The Pershing itself gets parked in front of you, then is slowly dug into a small fighting position. Behind you the IS-2m.

You hurriedly pack dirt up onto the lip of the fighting position, while Winona, Stack, and Ingrid continue to dig. Ingrid takes a deep breathe, takes a huge swig of water from her canteen. “Come on, don’t dawdle!” yells Stack. “This could mean the difference between life or death!”

“Don’t be so dramatic,” you say. “You’re right, but-…” You feel a faint tap of liquid on your nose. Huh? You look up. It’s… astonishingly cloudy today.

“Think it’ll rain?” asks Winona.

“It better not,” you say. Please pass over, clouds. Serafina’s crew of girls quickly get to unfolding your camo net and draping it over your turret. There you start sticking in stray branches, twigs, and leaves to further break up your silhouette.

The flag though, ugh…

Right, you take another look at the map. Judging by Griselda and Iris’ movements, her plan is to draw Sherbrooke into a killzone in that open ground in the center. Not too shabby you suppose. Right now though, your position is being fortified, which means you’ll have a better chance of defending against tanks.

However, you could stand to keep fortifying…

The best defense that isn’t an offense is deception! You decide to hurry up and build several false fighting pits, and shroud them with long branches and leaves as well. And to add to the deception, you’ll pack in some dirt to mock the silhouette of a tank, and stick in a dummy barrel as well.

Of course, that means having to sacrifice your tactical logs. BUT, if it buys you some time against those TDs, it’ll be fine.

You look back to your tank. “Josephina! Ingrid, you got the weather forecast?”

Ingrid looks up from the Hull MG hatch. “60% chance of showers!” Fuck.

“This is Iris.” Iris reports in. “We’re hearing some engine noise out to our southeast, I think they’re moving through the town.”

“Griselda here, we see movement to the direct east, looks like Nashorns. I can’t tell if that legendary is among them.”

Hm, maybe they’re planning on an direct slugfest? Do they even know Griselda and Iris are in the trees. You pull out your map and consult it again. At these distances, save for that legendary, they’d probably have to close in to get some accurate hits in. And with your defenses, that’d probably force them to get even closer. But you’re not sure if they’re willing to risk that after yesterday.

> No, no baiting.

“Everyone, back into the tanks!” You all hurry back into your tanks. You allow Winona and Stack to get in first, then follow up. You then pull the camo net over as you close the turret hatch. It’s time to see this through the periscopes.

You peer through the periscope. Your vision is kind of limited through this narrow cone, but you can definitely see Nashorns cresting the horizon, backed up by a whole load of Marders as well.

“This is Iris again, the engine noise is continuing but I believe that the enemy is loitering around their side of the bridge.”

“Yeah,” says Griselda. “They’re staying put where we can see them. They might know we’re baiting them.”

“What do we do then?” you ask.

“Hmmm… I won’t risk using you as bait.”

“Longer we wait, the more they have time to zero us in,” says Iris.

Second. The 122 started life as fucking field artillery. It can ruin the day of a Marder or a Nashorn at great range.
>>

So is the 90mm

Can it shoot at great distance?
>>
>>48558196
Both can, the main limiting factor is their FCS (or in the case of the IS-2m, lack thereof) and that their gunners aren't exactly great shots. They're very unlikely to win a slugging match at extreme range with a long range monster like the Nashorn, but they might be able to initiate/cover a closer range engagement or disrupt the enemy formation prior to our attack.
>>
>>48558196

Loading HE against soft targets? Yeah. Wouldn't work against tanks, but Nashorns and Marders are pretty lightly armoured.

>>48558279

Yeah. We've some advantage there given we're hull down and they're not, but an extended slugging match would end poorly for us.

> Wait for Griselda to give the command.

“Regina, see if you can rattle their cages,” you call.

“Naval Studies Rescue is NOW FIRING!” yells Regina. Her IS-2m turns its turret around, and fires a shot across the map. It screams over the open ground and explodes against the formation, sending some Marder IIs off the ground and shaking up the Nashorns. They start to string out however, their sides to you now, with the Nashorns returning fire back. The shots start screaming over, smashing apart one of the fake pits and explode around your position.

“That was close!” yells Winona. “How did they know we’re here!?”

“Maybe it’s the big fucking flag sticking off the engine block,” says Ingrid.

“They’re starting to move!” says Griselda. “Me and Serina are moving to engage. Iris, you move eastward to cover the bridge and block their reinforcements!”

“Got it,” says Iris.

You turn your periscope and see Griseld and Iris’ tank close in from their north. They fire down on the formation, shaking them up, even sniping one of the Marder IIs.

> KO: LILY ARTEMIEVA (Sdkfz 131 Marder II)
> KILL CREDITED TO: GRISELDA POOL (M4A3E8 Sherman “Janus”)

“Scratch one!” says Griselda. The return fire however discourages them from another attack. Dust and smoke covers the two tanks as they reverse. “Reverse, reverse! Serina, reverse!” The two tanks start to retreat back to cover.

Here’s what you can see. Four of their Nashorns are up in that formation, along with four Marder IIs and two Marder IIIs. You wonder if their flag Nashorn is in the back somewhere.

Ah, you’ve lost count now.

Suddenly, from nowhere, an 88mm round slashes across your turret side, ripping off your camo netting. The loud rumbling shakes the tank, and sends everyone into a wall. “AH! WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT!?” screams Winona.

“That must’ve been their bullshit Nashorn!” says Stack. You take a look through the periscope again. Fuck, you didn’t even see where that was!

“Deploy smoke!” you yell. A smoke bomb explodes over your heads, shrouding you all in concealing smoke. Josephina pulls Oliver out of the pit. “Westwards, Josephina, we’re making for the lowlands.” Mud and swampy water runs underneath your treads as you bound back. “Regina, Serafina, keep up the fire!”

“Got it!” yells Regina.

“We’ll rip them to shreds!” yells Serafina. Their big guns fire against the Sherbrooke positions, forcing half of them (the Nashorns) to turn and fire back. One of them however is laid low by the blast of the IS-2’s ammo flipping it onto its side.

Well, even if the water were shallow enough for you to cross, you have to think about it for a second. If you cross by yourself, you’re putting yourself at risk trying to snipe a flag tank. You might get yourself killed if you miss your shot.

No, no, crossing the river isn’t the option here. You pull out your binoculars. You see a few Tetrarchs move past the flag tank with LJ Adaptors southbound. Huh, where are they going? You take it down, three Tetrarch tanks moving south, probably southwest to try for a long flank perhaps? That leaves seven tanks including the flag tank in Oak Island.

And at close ranges, Iris could surely come out on top, even if the Marders have guns that could penetrate her side armor. That’s a big if though…

Smoke the bridge (either with others' smoke shells or our own dispensers), bring Serafina and Regina up and smash the bridge defenders with a Heavy Assault, Serina and Dalia will form a rearguard while Suv and us move up after the heavies to support. We should concentrate our forces now and smash the enemy before they leave the urban terrain where we can leverage an advantage.
>>
>>48560223
Oh and we want to be arriving as the assault hits home across the bridge. The flag tank MUST NOT STOP before entering the city.
>>
>>48560223
We don't have Regina. Long Shot took her out.
>>
>>48560223

>>
>>48560241
derp, should've been Iris anyway.
>>
The Tanks that were supporting Gris, where are they now?
>>
>>48560145
Find out where those Tretarchs are going. That island is a dead end but if they know about a crossing then they'll use it to flank. We can also use it to counterflank into Oak island.
>>
>>48560329
but we have no support. \

We can't take on three of them at once.

>> Rally with Iris for a push into Oak Island
>>
>>48560223
Serafina is not with us, she's back at the dugout.

So what do you propose?
>>
>>48560343
The 2 pdr is a little scary but its just 3 tetrarches.
>>
>>48560407
It has a little john adaptor!
>>
>>48560343
Tetrach is thin. We might be able to get through it with our MG's.
>>
>>48560436
Again, can't pen us frontally, they basically have to get our almost flush sides onto them. Also, as much as I love the Tetrarch it's a terrible tank to crew, with the gunner or commander having to double up as a loader and being generally cramped as hell. It's a good tankette, possibly the best, but it's not really a match for us 2 or even 3 on one, provided we get a couple hundred meters to wreck them as they charge us.

>>48560406
That she move around south under the cover of Serina and Dalia and meet us at the bridge.
>>
>>48560455
We can definitely get through with our fiddy
>>
>>48560455
The Besas can damage stuff like the turret ring and pen some of the thinner areas of the front, but for the most part they'll just not make it through. The .50 will turn them to swiss cheese though.
>>
>>48560145
>>48560329
Fine voting for this.

“Hold on, Iris, we’re coming to you. Serina, how long can you hold?”

You hear a loud banging noise over the comms. “I dunno!” Okay, you’ll give them five minutes.

“Serafina, get ready to move up. If you see the other Marders on the south edge start to move on us, suppress them! You need to buy us some time!”

“Got it!” declares Serafina.

You quickly push through the forests, then rally up with Iris, Suvorov, and Dalia. “Alright,” says Iris. “We’ll go in first. I’ll smoke up the bridge and drive through. Dalia, Suvorov, you two will follow up.”

“Got it,” you all say.

With a loud roar, the Churchill faces down the bridge and races down it. The Marder and the StuG III guarding their end fire at it. Their shots glance off the side of the turret and the front plate. Behind her is Dalia, and behind Dalia is Suvorov, and then you. “Serafina, how’s it looking back there?”

> KO: LUCY ARCHER (SDKFZ 138 Marder III Ausf. M)
> KILL CREDITED TO: SERAFINA MACZEK (M26 Pershing “Sokol”)

“Going well, but-“ There’s a loud snapping noise on their end. “That Nashorn has us suppressed, we can’t move to help you!”

“Stay there then!” you call.

The smoke goes down, and the Churchill races into town. The Flag is at the intersection, and fires a shot. It veers past the Churchill, but slams right into Suvorov, flipping them back onto their head.

> KO: “SUVOROV” (Panzer III Ausf. J “Frederick”)
> KILL CREDITED TO: (VALENTINA COX (Sdkfz 164 Nashorn)

“Chyort, they got us!” yells Suvorov.

The Churchill moves to fire a shot, but unfortunately misses. The Nashorn pulls back, reversing eastward.

You look back, that smoke cover isn’t going to last long, and when it dissipates you’re dead meat!

The Flag tank is a trap, Sherbrooke's known for their ambushes and this will be one of them. Cut Eastward down a different road than the one the flag tank took. We'll go much faster forwards than a Nashorn will backwards. Iris should pursue the Nashorn, Dalia can watch her back.

Once we've gone about three streets past the enemy flag's turn off we turn back onto their street (provided Iris is in contact and they're still there) and kill them with a shot to the rear.

“Fire another smoke shell!” you yell. Stack throws up a smoke bomb, shrouding you in more smoke and hopefully buying you some time. Alright, now then. You’ve got to use blind guts to guide you down this narrow streets. “Josephina, eastbound!” She rotates the tank, then speeds you through a man’s fence. You keep your head, keeping the splinters and shrapnel away from the head. Dalia and Iris continue to pursue the flag as it reverses.

But the grand thing about this is that you’re faster than it reversing.

That sounded a lot better in your conscious thought. Basically you’re going to intercept it through speed and hopefully bypass anyway ambushes they inevitably have on the street and ONLY on the stre-

You all gather around to meet with Mackenzie and her girls. Despite being swept, they don’t seem to pay it too much mind. “Just means we’ll have to fight harder the next match. You outplayed us with our own tactics, I can’t exactly be mad at that, eh.”

Griselda shrugs, smiling at her. “You fought well, Mackenzie.”

“Yep, you too.” Mackenzie and Griselda hug it out, then shake hands amicably. “Hopefully we’ll see you again in the postseason! By then, maybe we’ll have afforded some better tanks. You smile happily at Mackenzie. “Thanks.” You twirl your finger in your hair, blushing a little at the compliment. “Not every day someone compliments you like that.”

“Well, sorry, but that’s the truth.” She shakes hands with you, grinning. “Trust me though, next time we meet, better tanks.”

“Next time we meet,” says Griselda. “We’ll have more tanks.”

“It’ll be a heck of a match,” says Mackenzie. She tips her Officer’s cap to you both, then motions her crews to follow you. “Take care, enjoy yourselves.” And with that, they take a graceful exit. Now, that is Tankery.

You smile happily. “So, Griselda, it’s a bit late. I don’t think I can say goodbye to my parents in person but-“ She holds up a red and black ribbon with the word MVP written on it. “… what’s that?” you ask.

“Your MVP Ribbon, NATO have elected you to be the weekend’s MVP,” she says. She pins it on your jacket. Wow… You gently grip the ribbon, looking down on it. You’ve gotten plenty of awards for academic success but… a real ribbon for success in Tankery now that’s something! Griselda looks out to all of the crews. “Come on, everyone!” Suddenly everyone grabs you.

Oh shit.

“Hip hip, hooray!” AH! THEY’RE FLINGING YOU UP! “Hip hip, hoorary!” PLEASE STOP THIS “Hip hip, hooray!” YOU LIKE TO BE LIFTED BUT NOT LIKE THIS.

This weeks standings. As you can see, Sherbrooke, because they didn't kill a lot of tanks this weekend, have been knocked out of their Wild Card spot by Hugo Gernsback (whom incidentally is your next match.)

And because Camp Gagetown swept their set while Hugo Gernsback lost theirs, Gagetown takes over as the WL North Division leader. Christie's perfect streak also ends with a draw from Heinlein.

Highlights:

- ZES: Eri Barkmann leads fellow foreign crews to victory, sweeping Kuromorimine in stunning raid from the field.

- SGC: Rosehip and fellow Cruiser tank commanders (attempt to) intimidate Scarridge High School commanders before match with Maori haka. Rosehip later kills 7 tanks the elimination fight in one engagement.

- LGA: Elodie R. Zumwalt flanks through backyards to eliminate flag tank at her own risk. Wins the sweep for LGA.

- JWC: Perrine Hobart performs "cloudburst" maneuver, swims E-100 and personal AVRE underwater through deep lake to ambush Heinlein tanks on other side, earns five kills and eliminates flag tank.

- CG: Meryl Hoffmeister (last tank standing) eliminates flag tank through building with 17 Pounder shot, saves sweep for Camp Gagetown.

And with that, I'm out, night anons.

>>48562035
I actually think the Hoff's or Rosehip's highlights are more impressive. Perrine's strat was likely preplanned and prepared for with extensive upgrades and the like, while the 17pdr wallbang or a 7 kill single engagement are testaments to the personal skill and realtime ingenuity of their commanders.

Or they're using their weaker teammembers to play in NATO matches.

I would have expected a draw, not a complete upset sweep from ZES.

Said I'd have them for next thread, got home early enough for this one. Here is the kill counts after 5 series.

Serifina makes it into the double digits club, Iris has hit 35 and Ellie's a penny short of a quarter.

Biggest climbers for the week are Ellie, Iris, Serifina and Regina with 7, 7, 5 and 5 respectively.

Teamwork is starting to shape up nicely. I think there is a decent chance for the delinquents to be the next to rise up high in the ranks soon, now that they'll have a week of practice to work with. I definitely think Suvarov/Regina will hit doubles next weekend.
>>

Having the 2nd highest kill count is pretty nice and all, but I definitely think Ellie's biggest contribution to the team is her tactical mind. I think we've made the tactics for most, if not all of our matches, and pulled wins out of our ass which we should have lost. Too bad that isn't as flashy as taking out a gorillion tanks every match like Iris though.

Hey man, it may not get us on the all-star voting ballot, but on a personal level, when it comes to sports, I always preferred the man/woman who set up the play than the one that scored/hit the home run. And we are certainly that.

Besides, if this is an all-star game, I'm sure that there is bound to be a few comissioners/captain's picks to mix in with the popular vote...Ellie is going to be so flustered when she finds herself chosen by her peers.
>>
>>48564283
well, as of this match I think we are at 75 all star points. If we keep going like this we just may qualify for a spot regardless. Then we'll have the biggest tiddies on the all star team as well.
>>
>>48564240
We're definitely the brains of the team, which I suppose means Iris is our (very proper) fist and Gris is our heart.
>>
>>48564349
Yeah, this weekend was very kind to Ellie with regards to all-star voting. Iris and Griselda weren't major factors in today's match.

That said, I still want her to not get in by votes, but by special selection. Because I think her reaction in our hands would be fantastic.

The other great thing about this weekend though? We swept the series, after a very good media day, and I think it's going to be a boon to recruitment too. We have, what? 3 tanks needing crew, right? I think, with consideration to any additional repairs, we'll be seeing 2/3rds of those positions filled. Maybe even the whole set.

>>48564379
Yeah that's probably the best example of the officer power trio. Though if and when we start creating more tank squadrons, I think we all know Serafina is the heart. Guess we just need the muscle...

Serafina's clearly the wings anon. But I think Suv would make a far better officer for what its worth. I'd like to see a bit more of her and her crew actually, I mean a military history buff should be an ideal candidate for a tactically gifted officer.
>>
>>48564407
The Strv and Jackson are still awaiting restoration though, it's likely even if we found 3 crews, only one of them max would be ready for our next match. I want us to get a third retinue member so we can buy them a Tetrarch of our own.
>>
>>48564437
Hold up there anon, we only have 8 active tanks on our roster, we can't have half our team be officers, that's crazy talk. But yeah out of the original 5, Suvorov seems the most likely to be officer material. Of course, that depends on further characterization from GS in future threads, so literally never ever, enjoy your work grinding forever and ever.
>>
>>48564488
I think the work grinding is more the fault of us anons than GS. I'd like to take more time off to train, quest and maybe even put together some "prepackaged" tactics with the rest of the team, but since threads start at what is 5am in the morning for me I'm basically never going to be here until the first 3-4 posts are done and our working/vacation day-ing are already decided.
>>
>>48564437
I happen to agree as of right now. I was meaning more in a future squadron set.

For example (and forgive me on a lack of cohesion my tank knowledge is shit so these teams may be unbalanced)

>Elodie Squad
>Ellie=Brains
>Serafina=Heart
>Regina=Brawn

or something similar. Each squad has it's own mini power trio to go with the current Gris-Gris, Iris, Ellie

>>48564451
Yeah, that's why I was taking additional repairs/restoration into account with regards to rolls being filled.

>>48564488
Well, for what its worth, I think with us riding higher than before, we may be able to take some time to talk to some members of other crews, not to mention our crew this week.

The fact that we had to cut out early for both post-matches meant that we weren't able to do that, unfortunately, but I think we can make some time out for it this week. I'll be voting for at least one day off this time around.

I at least want to properly thank Serafina for her contribution this time around. She may even get to ride our horse!

And yeah, I'd like to talk to a few tank captains too, Regina's, Serina's, Suvarov's, etc.

In fact I think if she and her crew take to tanking like a fish to water, Serina may become a very valuable member of the team. But who knows?

And that's not even counting the fact that I think it's time we tackle some Loyalty side quests...
>>
>>48564530
Speaking of squads, we should probably consider reorganising them, especially once we get the new tanks repaired and crewed. I'd prefer a more focussed composition that puts the heavier breakthrough tanks all together in one place, something like:

> COMMAND ELEMENT: GrisGris commanding
> M4A3E8 Sherman: Griselda
> M18 Hellcat: Dalia
> M36 Jackson: Unknown

> BREAKTHROUGH/STRONGPOINT PLATOON: Iris commanding
> Churchill IV: Iris
> M26 Pershing: Serafina
> IS-2m: Regina
> Tiger II: Serina

> MEDIUM PLATOON: Elodie commanding
> Cromwell III: Elodie
> Panzer III: Suvorov
> Strv m/42: Unknown
> Panzer IV: Unknown
>>
>>48564549
While it's not a bad idea, wouldn't it be better to group them by skills/disposition?

Iris is clearly the sharpshooter of the team so keep her with the other shooters. Let the Pershing, IS and Tiger go with the more offensively minded teams.
>>
>>48564619
Most of Iris' kills have been at close range actually. She's also taken the lead in most of our frontal assaults and stubborn defences. She'll also go some way to reining in those tanks' crews tendencies to be a little overeager as she's the most discipline oriented officer on the team.

We tend to always be on the move, always planning some ruse or aggressive tactic, so we get the mediums, and Griselda takes a pair of TDs because she tends to take stationary positions where she can oversee the team's situation as a whole, though she likes to reposition as necessary (which is fine thanks to the American TDs' comparable mobility). Plus if necessary it puts fluid TD support right next to our CO so she can use it wherever and whenever it's required. Grouping by disposition is only important if crews have a big problem with each other and cannot cooperate. We don't really have that so far at least.

Holy shit that's horrifying.

Any plans to change the Porsche turret out for the Henschel? The shot trap fucked the poor thing.

I'd recommend it. My current priorities for the team upgrades personally though are
>1. Panzer III to Ausf. M
This will dramatically increase the survivability of the Pz III, especially against HEAT and HE, thanks to the standoff plates and schurzen. It'll also give it a bit more of a bite with the L/60 50mm replacing its current L/42.
>2. Pershing to Super Pershing (w/ the WW2 field armour mods)
Way more effective frontal armour, especially against HEAT and HE and a substantially more powerful gun, at the cost of some mobility will solidly move Serafina from a slow, large, heavily armed and armoured medium into something more akin to a true heavy tank.
>3. Henschel turret for the Tiger II
Just a nice defensive upgrade for our newest Heavy.
>4. If possible, a comprehensive rebuild of the Churchill IV as a Churchill VII
It'll be expensive, time consuming and harder (in fact it's borderline impossible as it's a whole different set of tracks, suspension, turret etc) than just buying a Churchill VII to replace it but that's mean to James. Will increase the survivability of the Churchill quite a lot. (like it needed more)

Just woke up and gave the team some thought.

We need to unlock Ingrid's Loyalty Quest. Her morale is low, and she takes morale hits hard and often. Getting her Loyalty would let us put that worry to bed.

We should work with Hilda on seeking new income sources for the team.

I say next session,we contact Ingrid and see if she wants to take a day off. Maybe watch a baseball game (at a pub if not in person).

>...as a Churchill VII
While it may be a superior tank, the upgrade would not be worth the cost. If we had crazy income like Trude, then sure, but currently our cash flow is unsteady and less than a tenth of what we had last quest.

The priority upgrades should be based on a combination of how much they cost when compared to how badly they are needed.

That shot trap on the Tiger II has hit us in its first match. Not a good sign.

The Pz III to Ausf M looks like it would be reasonably affordable, for what it would do.

>That shot trap on the Tiger II has hit us in its first match. Not a good sign.
Admittedly SGH had a very hard hitting lineup, and even with all those 88 shells flying around, they took quite a beating in both matches before they finally went down, and only once was it from the shot trap. Most teams won't be able to throw the volume of high velocity, high accuracy, high pen shells at us that Sherbrooke did, at least not without concentrating their forces far more.

>While it may be a superior tank, the upgrade would not be worth the cost
This is why it's at the bottom of that list at the moment. Regardless, with Shekels-girl on the retinue now, we might come into some more funds, plus you never know how things will shape up across the board. It's also worth noting that we only have access to our personal funds, GrisGris seems to have a somewhat substantial budget, even if it's less than the ITL team and Iris would probably foot at least half of the bill for that particular upgrade herself.
>>
>>48567982
I also just realised that I already solved the VII upgrade problem weeks ago. She can upgrade to a Churchill IX, which is a IV hull with the VII's turret and hull armour upgraded to match the VII, along with upgraded suspension and gearbox to support the added weight.
>>
Oh, bytheby, I chucked together a very unofficial "THE TEAM" .txt file so I could keep track of the different crews and whatnot, along with their stats and what upgrades they have (could help with planning to know ballpark armour values for the different teammates). It's of dubious currency and very incomplete due to information just not having come up in threads yet and me being too lazy to write flavour text for the different commanders yet, but since a lot of anons have been asking about the upgrades the rest of the team has and other somesuch, I've thrown it into a pastebin for your perusal: http://pastebin.com/QMujB7qs

Thanks for that. You've done good work with what's available.
