Uchiha hair and face, same color of eye- except for one. His right eye, which contained a sharingan of an odd shape- and it was active, while his other one was not. A wicked scar covered that same eye.

“My dear cousin, the people of Konoha consider us monsters. Look what they did to me! I served them faithfully, but yet in the end, I was pawn to be thrown aside!”

“Until you see this truth, you will be nothing but a pawn as well. I had hoped growing older would have opened your eyes- but it seems you have retained your ideals….."

Do decide not to try talking them down. You were able to talk sensei down before…. But this is different. You doubt Shisui would listen to you, anyway.

Your eyes dart around to your surroundings- best to be aware of what’s around you if this is going to happen.

First, Lemeza. The client is the priority, after all. You spy him standing towards the back of the group, clutching the box he brought with him. His coat is ragged and bloody, both from the wooden men’s attacks, and the effect of Nori using her chains to catch him earlier; he’s also missing his hat. He seems entirely focused on the fight about to unfold, and you don’t blame him- though he does seem a bit jittery. Adrenaline? Fear? You can’t blame him- two powerful shinobi are about to square off, and he’s just a civilian.

Nori is on guard nearby, her chakra chains wrapped around her forearms. Her loose fitting clothes are mostly intact- looks like she was able to avoid most of the wooden men’s attacks. She’s squinting in the sunlight, her mask tied off around her waist.

Hinata is half the distance between Nori and yourself; her Byakugan active. Or are they still active from your escape from the ruins? She has to be exhausting herself using them for such a prolonged period of time….

Kurotsuchi, meanwhile, is atop a nearby dune. She’s observing, but you can she’ll be ready to flee in a moment’s notice. This isn’t her fight, and her client is dead or worse. No doubt the mission has already far surpassed her expectations.

Your eyes flick back to Itachi-sensei. He hasn’t moved- and neither has Shisui. The Akatsuki member is staring straight at Itachi- in fact, it doesn’t appear he’s broken his gaze. Is it some sort of Genjutsu? You’re beginning to worry….

Maybe if you had Hinata’s eyes…. But you don’t. All you can do is follow the brief afterimages….

As you strain your eyes, however, something else gains your attention- the ground. It’s shaking. Every so slightly, but it’s there. What could that possibly mean?

“Everyone! There’s something below us! The is ground is shaking!” you yell out to everyone present.

Thinking quickly, you summon a shadow clone, and send it to collect Lemeza.

The rumbling grows louder, and Itachi and Shisui separate, with each man going to their respective side. Both are injured, though Itachi seems much worse for wear.

With a loud rush of sand, a large beast bursts forth!

It’s huge, with several gaping maws- and looks exactly like wooden men from earlier. Atop it’s pale white form is several heads- some oriented oddly.

“THIEVES! YOU VIOLATE HOLY GROUND, THEN ROB IT AS WELL! PAY WITH YOUR LIVES! GET THEM! GET THEM!” The multiple heads say at once, the garbled speech barely intelligible.

Around you, several more of them begin surfacing from the sand.

“Hey, hey. You Zetsu are really annoying! It’s rude to interrupt a duel! How many of you do we need to kill, anyway? I’m taking this up with old monochrome when we get back…” Kisame complains, drawing his sword.

Zetsu? Is that what they’re called?

Your clone immediately fights off two of the zetsu going for Lemeza- seems like the fight with the Akatsuki is on hold, for now.

You concern yourself with the immediate task at hand- defending Lemeza.

With the four of you in a defensive formation, the battle quickly becomes a repeat of the ruins- these individual zetsu don’t seem particularly powerful.

Across the dunes, the Akatsuki members seem to be faring well against the zetsu, which is to be expected.

Like before, you call on Nori for a combination technique, using her Gale Palm in conjunction with your Fire Dragon Bullet to great effect, although the zetsu aren’t packed as tightly as before.

The big one, though, proves pretty resilient. The swathe of flame clips it, but it doesn’t seem to do much. It may take a bit more to effectively damage it…

You have a couple options, and are free to engage with him since the defense is going pretty well.

“Itachi-sensei! I have an idea! Can you handle defending the client for a moment?” you ask, deflecting another Zetsu’s strike.

“Yes, for a time. Please don’t overexert yourself, Tsuki.” he says- you can tell he’s not fighting at full strength here, so it’s best to hurry.

You summon the girls to your side, and briefly go over the plan. Hinata nods in approval, while Nori looks at you like you’re insane- and maybe you are. Only one way to find out!

As you three rush forward, you see Itachi create three shadow clones to take your sports in the defensive formation.

“Nori! Hinata! Now!” You say, as the three of you run towards the monstrosity.

Nori fires off waves of chakra chains, attempting to pin it down. As she does so, Hinata bites her thumb- summoning several snakes from the earth, biting down into the creature’s limbs. As they do, you see poison spreading through it’s limbs. As it struggles, Nori crouches down, allowing you to get on her back.

“Princess, this better work.” Nori says, as she stands.

“It will. Trust in me, and trust in Hinata. We can pull it off.” you respond back, not really giving credence to her concerns. She’ll see.

“Ok, go!” You shout- and Nori uses her strength, to wrench you and her up into the air, propelled by wind chakra. It’s a rough ride, and you almost lose your grip- almost. You soar high above the creature- you’ll only have one chance at this.

“Now! Do it!” You shout.

“Wind Release! Gale Palm!” Nori shouts, the wind tunnel propelling you even further into the air- stop only by Nori’s chains. For a few moments, it almost feels like flying.

“Fire Release! Great Fireball Technique!” you say, executing the technique. As you fire it into the wind tunnel, it grows, and grows very quickly- it would be very hard to control from below. As it falls it continues to grow ever larger- hopefully Hinata can pull off her part.

“8 Trigrams! Revolving Heaven!” you hear Hinata shout from below. As she winds up below the creature, the giant fireball envelops them both- before her rotation begins to spin it place.

The result is not unlike a great flaming tornado- easily the most powerful attack you could’ve used right now without revealing your stellar techniques. You just hope Hinata’s ok.

Nori releases the chains- and the two of you are immediately blown away. You tumble end over end, before Nori rights the two of you, slowing your descent with another Gale Palm. You land in a heap- but the two of you quickly scramble up to see the results.

The creature is entirely blackened. For a moment, you think it might be moving- only for it to crumble to ash- completely and totally incinerated.

Hinata stands below the creature- her clothes are burned in places, and her hair looks singed; her face covered in ash- but otherwise she seems ok. The attack not only incinerated the large one, but many of those in the surrounding area- giving you time to collect her.

“Hinata! Are you alright?” Nori yells out as you run to her side.

“That was… dangerous. But I’m fine- my Byakugan let me see chakra, after all. Thankfully I was able to redirect most of the attacks power back upwards, or dissipate it around me.” She says, smiling.

“You’ve certainly got some nerve there, Hinata!” Nori says, laughing. “I never would’ve expected the old you to take that much of a risk.”

“Tsuki said I could do it, and I believed her. She hasn’t let me down so far.” She says, looking to you for confirmation.

You blush a bit in response. “I just thought it out- everyone had their parts to play. But seriously, both of you did great!”

With the death of the large Zetsu, the others seemed to have stopped spawning- there are a few remaining, but Itachi takes care of them in short order. The three of you run back over to him- only him and one other shadow clone remain.

The party looks over to where the Akatsuki were before, only to see a field of quickly decaying Zetsu. Shisui has his hood up, and Kisame has donned his hat.

“Think about what we’ve discussed. The future of everyone depends on it- especially those girls you’ve trained so well. Farewell, cousin.”

The two of them begin to walk off into the desert- and to your surprise, Itachi doesn’t attempt to follow them.

Instead, he addresses the group.

“Come, let us return to camp. We need to look after Lemeza.”

Lemeza refused to give it up when the party returned to camp- he was haggard and delirious.

It’s getting late, and after the explanation of events travelled throughout the camp, many of the other nation’s exploratory parties have began to pack up. Kurotsuchi fled when the battle with the Zetsu started, and her things were gone from the Land of Earth camp- presumably the death of Dr. Tamaishi meant she had failed her mission.

Dr. Afzal has not been seen since heading into the ruins- and nobody from the Land of Wind camp seems particularly keen on looking for him.

You open the container with the flower inside- it seems to have closed up. It doesn’t look withered, per se, but you are worried that it might without nourishment.

Say, has Danzo ever given us any indication that we shouldn't tell dad about our release? He's our dad, and we would definitely trust him. And besides, having him on board with our release means he could potentially design something to help us amplify or control it more efficiently.

He's obviously on the level enough for Danzo to be his butler, and he's got a dubious enough past to understand the value of having Danzo teach us the way only the ROOT can. It might be worth having that conversation with him.

You decide to feed it your blood. You want to keep it intact for your trip back home, after all.

You don’t really want it touching you, so you make a shallow cut on your palm with a kunai. You let the blood drip slowly into the container; and the effects are immediate. The immediately begins unfolding, blossoming once more into it’s beautiful pale shade of purple.

Despite how pretty it is, it really is quite the dangerous plant- you like that about it, though. Kunoichi are taught the art of flower arranging- and you cannot help but think this flower bears resemblance to the kunoichi ideal: Beautiful and Deadly.
You decide to check on it once a day or so, just to make sure it’s staying fed. Once you’re back in Konoha, you’ll need to decide where you want to take it; Ino’s family certainly would be able to identify it- but you wonder, would Danzo be able to weaponize this plant? Having a unique weapon based on such a thing could only stand to make your family more powerful…

Well, those are thoughts for later. There’s another piece of business to attend to, after all.

You wrap your hand in a fresh bandage, and sit back down at the table. Lemeza is still asleep, and probably will remain so unless Itachi wakes him. Your team is still sitting around the box, though they don’t seem to be as focused on it as before.

You know you want to open it, but how to approach it?
