>You are Princess Zelda, heir to the fallen throne of Hyrule

>Your father, corrupted by Power, died in a coup, your Kingdom shattered in a civil war 10 years ago, the Hero in Green giving his life to ensure you escaped the conflict

>An uneasy peace has returned to the land, but omens of a descent into greater chaos than before loom on the horizon

>You, Zelda Hyrule, have the potential to claim your birthright and restore the Kingdom to what it once was, bring back true peace to the lands. Your path ahead is not set in stone; you must chisel it in yourself. What kind of Legend will you create?

Your return to Kakariko is already certainly an eventful one. Monster attacks increasing in frequency. The boy in red. The girl with "your eyes." And not a word of Impa since you last saw her on the start to your journey. Madas knows nothing of her whereabouts, but as he reminds you, if she doesn't want to be found, you're not going to find her. And for good reason, usually.

There's probably not much else to do aside from catch up with the locals, though if you stick around long enough you may be able to get some more information on the girl that's been helping them. Still, there's the goal ahead of Death Mountain, and the boy in red. And if the last Temple was any indication...

B. Try to stick around and gather info on the girl.

We've been doing pretty well but a potential sidequest or two couldn't hurt. Ditto for more Rupees and Pieces of Heart.

You decide to hold out on heading straight up Death Mountain and investigate the town, trying to see if there has been any troubles coming up there to the Gorons as of late. To your surprise, and slight relief, there hasn't been anything that the Gorons couldn't handle themselves. Though from the guards, you do find something curious.

"If anything, I'd say the Gorons have been getting even tougher and hardier than usual, like they're preparing themselves for something."

"How do you mean?" you question.

"Last time one of them was down here coincided with an attack. Merchant Goron, you might recognize him when you see him, Termina. The flower one."

You nod, recalling the Goron. He's been around a few times a year selling rare flowers to the town for cheaper prices than they'd seem to be. Always seemed exceedingly gentle. "What about him?"

"See, one of the monsters managed to get through the defenses. Bokoblin. He was headed to the middle of town when the Goron spotted him making his way towards one of the kids." The guard laughs. "You should have seen it. The Goron just casually picked the creep off the ground and tossed him over the windmill."

...

He did what.

The guard smiles at the expression on your face. "It's true! Right over the windmill! I asked about it with just about the same look you have. He claimed it was nothing, his big brother threw a Moblin twice that distance."

...this should be good news, but, that almost seems too fantastic to believe. Though given what you've been through in the last few days, it seems slightly tame. Next up is the girl, and you locate some of the children that saw her.

"Was reeeeeaaaaally fast, like a hawk, but wore robes that covered her from head to toe." a boy tells you, making wooshing noises for emphasis.

"I sawwww... her eyes!" a little girl tells you, swaying back and forth. "Theeeeey were... uhhhh... they looked like yours, Miss Termina. I think they were green, like that boy!"

...boy? In green?

Don't tell the kids about the Boy in Green. I wouldn't shatter their dreams about the Hero like that.
>>
>>48493378
You feel a jolt of anxiety travel down your spine. "Wh-what boy? In green?"

"It waaaaas... a rilly dark green, I think." she states, putting her finger to her lip in contemplation.

The boy raises an eyebrow. "Salas, are you sure it was green?"

"Uh-huh! Just like the Hero papa told me 'bout!" she states emphatically. "Was a boy who came here acouple times."

...it can't be.

The boy however is unconvinced, and walks over to a few fallen leaves, one green, one a yellowed color, and one more red. "Salas, what colors are these?"

She pouts. "You pickin' on me again Sahs?" You note, however, she does look them over and refuses to answer.

That... might explain it. You kneel down to the girl. "I am sure you've seen a Hero. And he wore a green color just like that?" you ask, pointing to the redder leaf.

"Yeah!" she shouts, hands on her hips and a prideful grin across her face.

The boy is about to grumble out that the leaf isn't green, but you quietly tell him to shush with a wink and a smile. You pat the girl on the head and thank the two of them for the information. "Now, is there anything else you can tell me about the girl?"

"She had a third eye on the back of her head!" the girl almost shouts, a giddy expression on her face.

This is starting to make more sense. Impa, is that what you're really up to?

...

Your... eyes...

You find yourself tugging at your hair to keep the thought from distracting you.

Since we only have 65 Rupees, let's try to hunt for some more cash then we can shop and prepare for the trip up Death Mountain.

Yeah it sucks but not too bad. My dad is red-green colorblind but he does pretty well. Back when he still owned the family business, I used to help him out with sorting out the new timecards (the damn things were printed with green ink on one side and red on the other and Dad couldn't tell them apart).

After leaving the kids, you head to the town outskirts to see if you can find some extra Rupees in the grass. A few quick slashes with your sword, putting some practice in as you play the part of lawnmower, and you get some nice rewards for this work. Five Blue Rupees and a single Green one, for a total of 26. And that brings your own total up to...

[Rupees: 91/500]

You start making your way back to town, only to hear the ground rumbling... footsteps, giant ones. You look in the direction of it... a giant one-eyed humanoid monster. A... Hinox? Unusual it's so far down the mountain. And it's almost like it's running from something... wait, it's headed towards the town!

In a slight panic you bring up your crossbow and try to take aim at the monster. You steady yourself, and-

"HEY YOU BOULDER-TOSSING BASTARD, THINK YOU CAN RUN FROM ME?!" a boisterous young boy's voice shouts. "NOT SO TOUGH WITHOUT YOUR ROCKS NOW ARE YOU?! TIME TO SHOW YOU LORD HORON IS NO CHUMP!"

...Oh.

The monster seems to run even faster as... an explosion near him causes the ground to shake, ruining your aim and causing you to clearly miss the monster.

The monster nearly the size of a house.

You missed it.

Somehow.

"GAH, WHO DID THAT!? WHO'S SHOOTING ARROWS AT ME?!"

You... hope that didn't actually hit him. Your aim isn't that bad. R-right? The monster seems to take notice of you, slowing and turning its run away from the village right at you.

"WHERE DO YOU THINK YOU'RE RUNNING TO?!"

The monster has panic in its eye as it moves at you.

You pull out your sword and stab at the incoming monster, striking it with the Sword Beam right in the knee! The Hinox tumbles, attempting to hop as it moves forward and clutches its knee with its hands, but failing to stabilize itself and...

...rolling right into you as it falls, knocking you down on your ass. Ow.

[Hearts: 5.5/6]

"AND STAY DOWN YOU BASTARD!" the boy roars, firing a blast of magic at the monster as it tries to get up.

Nearly getting you caught in the ensuing explosion. The monster's flung some distance into the air before crashing back down, eventually vanishing in a puff of blackened mist.

You manage to stand, noticing a... fairy? Huh, the Fairy Missile. Of course. She floats back to the boy with an almost irritated look on her face as he starts laughing. "We got him! Finally got that boulder-throwing bastard! No more plaguing Death Mountain's trail, no more rocks falling out of nowhere, no more-"

"There were supposed to be two." the fairy grumbles at him.

"...Then we have half our work done already!" he announces to her, not changing his self-congratulatory tone in the slightest. He finally takes notice of you. "Ah, good citizen, fear not, the monster has been vanquished. Thanks to yours truly, Lord Horon!"

You blink at the boy. Red hair, fancy outfit, clearly younger than you given that the top of his head doesn't even reach past your chest. But his attitude. This... isn't what you were expecting. You start walking away from him. Quickly. Before he recklessly causes more explosions. Legs don't fail you now!

The fairy seems to notice your reaction, while Horon... "Aw, she's shy. Must be my good looks. No need to be modest, ma'am, I only have my sights set on one lady in Hyrule."

You move quicker, not even responding, towards the trail up Death Mountain. Legs do NOT fail you now!

"...Ma'am it's dangerous up there!" he warns in a shout.

The fairy groans loud enough for you to hear it. "You need to be able to read other adventurers better."

He's quiet. This is worrying. He then shouts to you, "Hey, wait up! I'll join you after I give over my latest charity haul!"

You're sprinting now.

After heading some distance up the trail, you slow yourself. Don't need to exhaust your strength running from him. He's probably too far away now to catch up. You're in the-

"WAIT..." the boy's voice calls to you through a wheeze, the kid clearly having run after you. "M-ma'am... it's... dangerous... to-"

"Please work on your peripheral awareness, sir." you interrupt, still not looking at him. "That last explosion was much too close for comfort, you could have gotten me in the blast as well."

The kid seems to stop for a moment, surprised by your reaction and trying to catch his breath. From the sound of it, he... doesn't do as much distance running. "A-ah, s-sorry-"

"Furthermore, bad peripheral awareness can lead to a foe blindsiding you. You need to be careful if you're out here on your own, especially these days." you instruct. Could say you learned this lesson the hard way.

"O-oh." he mumbles, breathing finally normalized. "...well, uh, thanks. Ma'am. But I, Lord Horon, can handle myself, trust me!"

"Your cousin in Castle Town seems to have right to worry." you almost groan out yourself. You hear the boy stumble behind you. Oh this is going to be a long day...
