As Yamcha steps into the room, and Puar floats in after him, you notice that his usual arrogant demeanor seems to be absent. Instead, he looks concerned, which does lend credence to his assertion that there is a problem.

"We're gonna have a problem if you don't get out of here right now!" Bulma snaps, rolling up her sleeves and clenching her hands into fists.

Yamcha seems unimpressed, and doesn't give Bulma more than two seconds of attention before looking at you.

"How are you feeling?" he asks. "Can you fight?"

Yamcha approaches you, ignoring the nervous look from Launch and the violent look from Bulma.

Puar, on the other hand, moves closer to Yamcha, looking at Bulma with some fear. You do have to admit, she can be pretty scary when she's angry.

"It's about Crane Hermit," Yamcha tells you, stopping at the side of your bed, across from Bulma. "He wants you dead."

"What? But why?" Launch asks, sounding both surprised and horrified.

"Because Tofoo here killed Master Shen's brother, Tao," Yamcha explains, looking over his shoulder at your friend. "He wants revenge."

"Wait, THE Tao?" Bulma asks. "That's Shen's brother?"

Yamcha nods, then turns his attention back to you.

"You weren't supposed to lose that match," he explains. "Crane Hermit was going to let Tenshinhan kill you in the ring, but since you're out of the tournament, he's going back to his old plan. He's going to come after you, while you're still injured from your match with Goku."

"Thanks for the warning," you tell Yamcha before turning your attention to the two ladies in the room. "Bulma, Launch, can you go and get Master Roshi? I could really use his help right about now."

"Okay," Launch says in a serious tone, heading for the door.

Bulma, on the other hand, seems somewhat reluctant. You notice her eyes shifting between you and Yamcha repeatedly, and that there's a nervous look on her face.

"Are you sure you'll be okay alone with him?" she asks you.

"If I wanted to hurt him, I would have done it already," Yamcha tells her, sounding annoyed. "And I definitely wouldn't come warn him of Master Shen's plans."

"Well, that's true..." Bulma admits. "But still..."

You promise her that you'll be fine, and that seems to finally convince her to go get Roshi. She doesn't seem happy about it, but she goes with Launch.

Once the two of them are gone, you ask Yamcha about Shen's plans for Goku.

"Goku took part in Tao's death," Yamcha tells you. "Even if you were the one who did the actual killing. Crane Hermit is going to let Tenshinhan kill him in the finals."

The other man gives you a hard look. "Krillin's a strong fighter, but Tenshinhan is something else altogether. As strong as me and Chaozu are, neither of us hold a candle to him, and not even Crane Hermit can match his strength. Krillin is going to lose, but Tenshinhan won't kill him, not yet. He'll be disqualified if he does."

"And what are you going to do?" you ask Yamcha, hopping out of bed.

He looks down, letting out an aggravated breath. "I'm going to try and help you stop Crane Hermit."

He looks up, and his expression is one of great irritation, telling you this was not a decision he came to very easily.

"I still owe you some payback, but not like this," he explains. "Killing someone when they're tired and injured, there's nothing honorable about that, nothing satisfying. It's cowardly and disgraceful."

He lets out a sigh, his expression calming. "And, I realized that you and Puar were right. Shen's been turning me into something I'm not. I may not be a great guy, but I'm not like him."

Puar smiles, and Yamcha returns it, looking over his shoulder at his furry friend.

"I just wish I realized it sooner," Yamcha comments before looking back at you.

"Do you know when Shen will attack?" you ask, deciding not to push your luck too much by continuing your efforts to mend fences.

Yamcha shakes his head. "No, but probably soon."

So, you won't have much time to prepare. You throw some punches and kicks into the air, striking the empty space as hard and fast as you can. You can still manage good form, but your attacks lack some of the power they held before your match with Goku, and soon your arms and legs begin to feel sore.

You're still far from helpless, but you'll have to be careful with how you fight. You can't push your body too far, so you'll have to fight smart to defeat Shen.

Hopefully, the girls will be back soon, and while you wait, you can get some rest, and maybe even regain a little bit of energy.

You take a seat on the edge of the bed, and wait.

The atmosphere in the room is quite tense, due in part to the impending danger, but also because of who you're currently sharing it with.

You don't have many problems with Puar, but things with Yamcha aren't so good. You aren't so sure he wants to kill you anymore, but the two of you are by no means friends, and you aren't confident that he won't deck you if you say the wrong thing.

Goku snores away in his bed, oblivious to the situation, and the current awkwardness.

For a few minutes, things remain that way, until you hear a voice.

Unfortunately, it's not one of the voices you were hoping for.

"Hear me, Tofoo," the voice demands. "It is I, Master Shen. I want you to listen very carefully."

You stand up, looking around for the source of the voice. You see nothing, and Yamcha gives you a curious look.

"Excellent, I'll be seeing you soon, then," Shen tells you. "Oh, and by the way, you have twenty minutes to get here. If you're late, I'll pick one of the girls and kill her."

His presence leaves your mind.

"What is it?" Yamcha asks, looking concerned. "Wait, did Master Shen contact you?"

You nod, struggling to calm yourself down. Rushing there in a blind fury won't solve anything, and will probably just get you killed.

You explain to Yamcha what the Crane Hermit told you, and where you're supposed to meet him.

"What?" Yamcha asks in anger. "That's just low!"

"What should we do?" Puar asks.

Ask Puar to disguise as us, tell Yamcha to exit a different way incase anyone saw him coming to talk to us. Tell him to go back to Shen and then pick a fight with Puar disguised as us and to try make it seem real and draw it out, make them ask the question where the girls are at with us hiding near by eavesdropping. Then when the question is answered have Yamcha end up launching Puar far away with a fake wolf fang fist and transforming into something else to make it seem we are hiding from Yamcha even though we will be far gone rescuing the girls by then with Yamcha behind us with the fake notion of searching for us.

Okay, so let me make sure I understand this.

You go in alone while Yamcha hides, Puar disguises himself as Puar to draw out Chaozu, who you are assuming will be there, and if you need backup, Yamcha will help.

Why not just have Yamcha go himself to draw out Chaozu, and then attack if you need help?

Not the anon who wrote that up but Puar is supposed to be disguised as Yamcha to draw Chaozu away from us and Shen basically lead him away until a safe distance and then run away, if he has trouble Yamcha intervenes. If not he watches us and Shen and jump in if we have an opening.

You tell Yamcha that you'll face Shen alone.

"Are you nuts?!" he shouts. "You're in no condition to fight him. At least let me help you. If we work together, I think we can win."

Shaking your head, you explain that you want him to hide. You tell Puar that you want him to disguise himself as Yamcha, and lure Chaozu away if he's there. Yamcha will help whichever one of you ends up needing it.

"Okay!" Puar says tells you, nodding with determination.


The three of you leave the hotel, and quickly make your way to the park Shen described. Yamcha runs and hides, while you walk down the pathway leading to the park's center.

There, you spot a large tree. Tied to the tree are Launch and Bulma, both of whom look to be unconscious.

Standing in front of the tree is Shen.

"So good of you to come," he says, smiling mockingly. "I didn't want to have to hurt these lovely young women."

Your language is a bit more crass than normal, but you are absolutely livid toward this old man. He's trying to kill you when you're weak, and now he's dragged your friends into it.

"Now, let them go!"

Shen chuckles, grinning maliciously. "Oh, I will once you're dead. For now, I'll keep them as insurance that you don't try to run."

You drop into a defensive stance, readying yourself for the fight.

"Pretty sure your master would have frowned on one of his students dragging women into a fight," you tell Shen.

His grin vanishes, and a look of great anger quickly replaces it. "My master was an old fool! He allowed himself to be defeated pathetically, and couldn't even claim a victory without losing his own life! He was nothing but a preaching fraud who knew nothing of real strength!"

He drops into a fighting stance. "You sound just like Roshi, which means you embrace that same self-righteous weakness! To think that a fool like you could have killed my brother, it's shameful. But I'm going to avenge my brother here and now!"

Shen comes running.

He's on you at once, attacking with a palm-strike that you easily parry, and following with a kick that you just barely manage to stop. You grab his ankle, and prepare to throw a punch, but he leaps up with his other leg and kicks you in the jaw, knocking you off your feet as he backflips and lands a few feet away.

"Not as strong as you like to think you are, are you?" Shen asks, raising his right hand above his head.

It begins to glow, and you know what he's about to do.

He points at you and unleashes a yellow blast of light that streaks toward you.

You hold out your hands, which begin to become surrounded by a faint glow, and attempt to deflect the blast.

It works, but only to a point. You manage to deflect the blast away from you without taking the full brunt of it, but the force of the attack throws you to the ground, and your hands are scorched pretty badly.

Above you, Shen frowns, pointing at you again.

"DODON RAY!"

A thin beam of light shoots from his index finger, and you quickly roll to the side, avoiding the attack by mere centimeters.

Shen takes aim again, but before he can attack, Yamcha leaps from the shadows, doing a shoulder-rush into Shen and knocking him off balance enough for his attack to miss you.

"Yamcha, what is this mutiny?!" Shen demands, turning to face his student.

"This isn't right, Master Shen," Yamcha tells him, dropping into a fighting stance. "Beating him like this is just cowardly."

"More cowardly than this boy who murdered my brother?" Shen spits. "How dare you insult me like that?!"

"At least Tofoo gave Tao a fighting chance!" Yamcha shouts back. "Fighting him when he's injured, holding his friends hostage, this is pathetic!"

Shen scowls. "It seems you've forgotten the lessons I've taught you. Let me jog your memory."

Yamcha takes a familiar stance, then charges at his master.

"WOLF FANG FIST!"

You pick yourself up as Yamcha attacks Shen, striking with a rapid series of claw-strikes and punches.

Shen is slowly pushed back, but Yamcha can't land a single strike.

"Really? You think that third-rate technique is going to do a thing to me?!" Shen asks incredulously you. "You're as foolish now as you were the day I met you!"

He catches Yamcha's wrists, then brings his knee up into the younger warrior's gut. Releasing Yamcha from his grip, he leaps up and gives another knee-strike, this one to Yamcha's face as he hunches over.

First thing's first, it's time to rescue your friends.

You begin to rush toward the tree, only to stop dead in your tracks as a terrible pain shoots through your stomach.

It feels like you've been stabbed, and you instinctively bring your hands to cover the spot where you feel the pain. But, it doesn't stop there, and in fact only gets worse. You feel like your insides have been put in a blender, and cry out in agony, hunching over and falling to your knees.

"Tofoo, what are you-AGH!" Yamcha shouts.

You manage to turn your head enough to see Yamcha fall to the ground as well, clearly also in great pain.

It's unbearable, but also very telling. You only know one person who could do this to you.

Chaozu comes walking out from the nearby bushes, hands raised and palms facing both you and Yamcha.

A look of anger is on his face, equal parts directed at you and Yamcha.

Chaozu steps closer, and you're pretty sure that you don't want to know what will happen if he reaches you.

"C-chaozu!" Yamcha shouts to the tiny man. "Stop this!"

Chaozu turns his focus to his former friend, and the anger you see on his face makes you cringe. It also makes you rather fearful for Yamcha.

"You betrayed us!" Chaozu shouts.

Yamcha is thrown from his feet and lifted high into the air.

"Me, Master Shen, Tenshinhan!" Chaozu shouts. "You were our friend! Master taught you, he gave you a home! Tenshinhan and me, we thought you were our friend!"

"I was!" Yamcha shouts. "This isn't about you and Tenshinhan, this is about Crane Hermit!"

"We're a family," Chaozu tells him bitterly. "Attacking one of us is like attacking all of us! Master always said that!"

"We aren't family to him!" Yamcha shouts. "We never were!"

Chaozu scowls, and Yamcha quickly plummets toward the ground, crashing in a very painful looking way.

"Be quiet!" Chaozu shouts.

"I SAID BE QUIET!" Chaozu tells him, lifting him off the ground again.

"Shen's just been using you, and the other students!" you tell the tiny fighter, still struggling to no avail.

"You're wrong!" Chaozu tells you. "Master Shen took care of me, he made me strong! He's family!"

"The two that are tied up over there are my family!" you shout back. "And Shen dragged them into this mess, even though they had nothing to do with what happened to Tao."

"Attacking one of us is like attacking all of us!" Chaozu reminds you. "So if one of you is our enemy, you all are!"

"This isn't right!" Yamcha tells him. "You know that!"

Yamcha's pleas fall on deaf ears, and Chaozu continues to approach him. As you continue to struggle in vain, however, you notice a large shape moving ever so slowly toward the tree.

Turtle crawls toward the two captive women, and he seems to be holding a long feather of some kind. Upon reaching the tree, he looks up at Bulma and Launch.

"Uh...Bulma? Launch?" he asks. "I need you to wake up, okay?"

Chaozu doesn't notice him, and continues to creep toward Yamcha.

"Bulma! Launch!" he repeats, louder.

They still don'w wake up.

"Oh, forgive me."

He leans forward, opens his mouth, and bites Launch's leg.

The girl yelps, waking up and looking around, confused.

"What?" she asks. "Where are we?"

"Nevermind, here!" Turtle tells her, holding the feather toward her face.

Launch takes another moment to look around, then seems to realize what's going on. She leans forward and lets the fan tickle her nose, causing her to sneeze.

Blonde Launch looks around, then down, a look of anger appearing on her face.

"Okay, whose bright idea was this?!" she growls. "Someone had better untie me right now!"

"Hold on a second, Launch," Turtle tells her, crawling toward the bushes

"Hurry up!" Launch snaps.

Turtle slowly crawls back from the bushes, a large, sharp-looking stone in his mouth. He begins to rub it against the ropes.

Meanwhile, Chaozu has reached Yamcha, and gives him a hard kick to the face.

"You tricked me!" Chaozu tells him.

"I had to," Yamcha insists. "Chaozu, please, you're my friend."

"No, you just made me think I was," Chaozu says, sounding sad.

Meanwhile, Turtle cuts through the ropes, freeing Launch.

"Alright, squirt!" she shouts, pulling a gun seemingly out of nowhere. "Eat lead!"

Bullets strike Chaozu in the back of the head, and he yells in a mixture of pain and surprise, bringing his hands up to hold the spot where he's hurting.

The pain dissipates, and you're able to get back up.

Yamcha wastes no time in knocking Chaozu's legs out from under him, getting up and pinning the tiny man. He makes sure to keep Chaozu's hands pinned, with palms pressed against the ground.

"Let go of me!" Chaozu demands.

"Only if you promise to take Master Shen and leave!" Yamcha tells him. "Go watch the tournament, go home, I don't care, just stop this!"

"I can't!" Chaozu protests. "Master says you have to pay!"

That threat actually seems to frighten Chaozu.

"Okay, I'll do it!" he promises.

Yamcha lets him up, and he quietly walks over, picking up Master Shen, and beginning to walk away without another word.

"If your master ever pulls this again, he won't be waking up next time," you warn. "Tell him that for me. We won, he lost. Drop the vendetta."

Chaozu looks down, then lifts off the ground, floating away with his master in tow.

Finally, you let out a relieved sigh. It's over, at least for now. Your friends are safe, and you've beaten the Crane Hermit.

"Someone wanna tell me what's going on, or should I start shooting again?" Launch demands.

Satisfied that Launch won't go on a shooting spree within the next ten seconds, you walk over to the tree, checking on Bulma.

Without the ropes to hold her up, slid down the tree, and now rests against it. You take a moment to make sure she isn't hurt before going to check on Yamcha.

He has a nice bruise on his face, but assures you he's fine.

"Thanks," you tell him sincerely.

You don't add anything more than that, something Yamcha actually seems to appreciate.

"You're welcome."

"Turtle!" you shout to Master Roshi's roommate.

"Huh?" he asks, walking over as you approach.

You hold your hand up, and give him a high five when he does the same.

"Thank you, you really saved the day," you tell him.

Turtle blushes a bit. "Aww, shucks, I didn't do so much."

Your friends are unharmed, and you've said your thanks, but one person is unaccounted for.

"Where's Puar?" you ask.

"Oh no, that's right!" Yamcha shouts with fear. "Puar!"

He runs off in search of his friend.
