News Report:
The war in the desert continues to escalate. While the IF Taskforce has pushed back the forces of N.O.R.D and Anuncia around the Principality of Beskaosia, the Republic of Zanvra has launched an invasion across the inland sea, hitting targets across the east coast of Droerus and Southern Landum. Landum’s navy is now embroiled in a running battle with Zanvran warships while home defence units have suffered heavy casualties. Analysts predict that Landum will have to redeploy forces from the desert in order to contain this new threat.
There are also fears about the Zanvran attacking Odros where the IF maintain a radioactive materials processing facility. While the IF sanctions the sale of nuclear material for power generation it is not too difficult for those same materials to be weaponized. Historically the IF has kept the proliferation of nuclear material tightly regulated but with the recent conflict in the desert tying up peace keeper resources many of the international regulations are increasingly difficult to enforce…

Welcome to the Mecha Mercs Skirmish Campaign.

This is a tactical turn based collective game where each player takes on the role of a mech pilot. As the campaign progresses the players will accumulate a supply of resources which can be used to build up a persistent pool of mechs and equipment, but watch out! If your pilot dies you could lose it all and be forced to start again with an inferior mech.

Right now the game has 15 active players. This is only counting surviving players that were active in the last campaign turn.

I have 6 slots available for new players. 2 of which are reserved for dead players re-rolling a new character. If you have rolled a character in the previous thread but not participated in a mission yet please do so again in this thread.
(Looking at you Nilhus, Bob doe, Haze and Nyx)

Lots of changes to the rule set for this phase.

Version 1.7:
-Nimbus Satcomm Jammer now grants +4 Edef. Nimbus was always meant to have high Edef and it seems weird that equipping it with it's signature system leaves it with lower Edef than other mecha with ECM modules.
-Stratus Active Scanner price increased to 6 but now auto detects at half sensor range as well as auto locks. The -5 to Edef penalty has been replaced with the power surge attribute.
-Summit Heavy Laser price increased to 7.
-Summit Mini-Gun range reduced to 5, price decreased to 5, removed the heavy attribute.
-Apex Blade now takes up two arm hard points, costs 4 cred and does 8 damage.
-GGA P-spike penetration buffed to 17.
-Jump icons and high tech icons added to ECCM drones, always should have been there, updating for posterity.
-Units get +4 to detect stealth units within 4 hexes, always should have been the case, but I seem to have forgotten to put it in after the hiatus.
-Combat Knuckles universal weapon removed. Now all mecha have a universal bash attack with the same stats.
-GGA auto rifle now a universal weapon.
-New GGA Company weapon: Snub Recoiless Rifle.
-LHI Reactive Armour now grants only 2 DR against Beam attacks and 8 DR against Solid Ammo and Mag Rail attacks.
-Minelayer Missile now deploys an extra mine.
-Multi-role fighter now carries 4 HK missiles and 2 AA missiles. Deployment cost reduced to 10.
-Electronic Support craft deployment cost reduced to 10.
-Mechapult price reduced to 40.
-Reaper Class has been reworked.

Now I believe a certain someone took issue with the way you could "shoot the ground" with blast weapons. If you wish to continue the discussion and suggest a different way to handle it now's your chance.

...but first!

The mood is solemn around the base as the personnel assemble to pay their final respects to Hetros and Wechuge. Both Kerry and the Chief carry a single urn a piece. Neither pilot had left enough coherent remains for a coffin. Wechuge had to be scrapped off the insides of his crushed mech, the resulting pile of meat and bone cremated. Hetros hardly left any remains behind at all, so thorough was the destruction of his machine that there was barely anything left to cremate.

As per usual Kerry delivers the eulogy. One can tell the burden of performing this ritual repeatedly is starting to wear on him. The Chief stands quietly behind him, a knowing look of sympathy on her face.
“Today we pay our respects to our fallen comrades. Hetros and Wechuge were among our best and our strength is greatly diminished by their loss.”

The line is delivered loud and strong, like it was well rehearsed. Kerry pauses for a second and when he speaks again his voice is smaller, more earnest.

”You know as I was filing the requisite paper work that comes with a pilot’s death I had to archive their service records. Both of them were solid pilots with battlefield achievements many would envy, but they were so much more than that. As our comrades, as people, they were so much more…”

“Wechuge was one of our staunchest fire support pilots, but he also supported us off the battlefield. Always willing to buy extra equipment for new pilots if it meant they had an increased chance of survival. It seems the most bitter of ironies that his machine was one of the most fragile. I was watching the tactical feed for that fateful operation. When the enemy charged his flank he turned his guns on the one that threatened the client rather than saving himself. Lesser men would have looked to their own defence first, choosing to risk their client’s safety rather than their own. That Wechuge chose differently is a testament to the outstanding quality of his character.”

“As for Hetros, if Commander Merein is our unit’s heart then Sub-Commander Jistin was our mind. He was a hard man with strong convictions, he was always the one with the plan pushing us to do what had to be done. He lead by example too, often taking the most dangerous role as the invisible tip of the spear, a role that ultimately got him killed. But he knew the risks. Hetros was not a man given to foolhardiness. I think he went into battle knowing that this might be the time when his luck ran out and had the courage to live with that. He was also an honourable man; for all his fierce pragmatism there were certain lines he would not cross. And he genuinely believed in striving to build a better world. Which is more than can be said for most of our kind. ”

“So as we honour our fallen comrades let us draw strength from their example. The coming months will test us like never before.”

Right, have your feels. I'm off to have lunch, lots of stuff to talk about once I get back.

Irving: "Hello again Camels I'm back with some devastating kit that will finally tempt you to the dark side. Peace Keeper gear has been kinda hard to come by lately but who needs that shiney shit when you've got these:"

"So I met a guy, ex-AESR employee, rigged me up a few gamma emitters. They're directed energy weapons with a very high level of penetration, they'll cook off ammo and fuel as well as turn vehicle crews into popcorn... just make sure you use the proper shielding on the weapon housing or it will literally give you cancer."

"I've also got some terror drones. According to legend they were designed by Guye Co engineers to run up to vehicles, cut their way inside and eviscerate the crews. Haxton Guye canned the project because he considered the weapon unmanly, everyone else said that it was just plain wrong. The IF promptly made drones of it's type illegal shortly after. They're not easy to find these days but I know a few rogue engineers who like to build em for shits and giggles."

"Also: Chemical rounds! They melt armour... and everything else which is apparently too cruel for some."

"Finally for those of you folks who want to stay good little boys and girls I've got some HESH rounds and LHI gear that fell of the back of a truck... if you know what I mean."

"I also had some weapons grade uranium for you but the raid in Odros went bad. Only managed to secure a little bit of material that's already been spoken for."

After reviewing the performance of you guys I have selected a possible candidate based on their overall engagement with the unit and organisational abilities. The Chief: "I would like to nominate Cryptic."

Cable Guy: "But isn't he a little green?"

The Chief: "It's not like he's fresh out of boot camp, he had experience before joining us. I see potential in him and I think with the proper guidance he will grow into the role."

I'm neutral, frankly, but RPing an old soldier demands it's due........of angry old man drama
The large man regards the pair discussing the nominees with a coldly inscrutable gaze.

So be it.
Sounds like a good way for an officer to seize up under stress and get his charges killed with bad orders."
His gaze hardens to visibly pained anger, muscles pulling taut as he attempts to contain himself, his gaze coasting over cryptic momentarily.
"If that happens again I will not be the one to bear the scars"

Tragedy was late to the gathering and was standing in the back of the room. Not knowing all of the details of the recent operations, having just returned from the field herself, she called up to the front. "All due respect, Chief --Cryptic, before we get to the voting proper, I have to say that the new guy is new. He might not be green, but he's not going to know the ins and outs of how we do things here and there hasn't been enough time to build up a solid foundation of respect, familiarity, synergy, and trust. I need a pretty damned good pitch to throw a vote his direction. So," her gaze drifted from the Chief over to rest on Cryptic, "sell it, Champ."

Chiefs impression in quite right...
I actually haven't decided how old Horst is except that he's in the "Old as dirt for a career soldier" range of 30-45, if chief is in that range then maybe he admires her blend of femininity and ROCK HARD PECS, I can't recall her age though
Time to ask questions about the world again
Are countries that have backed the IF up until now having second thoughts as full scale war is erupting?
What will become of the movie shoot footage?
How does Neromius feel about the dissolution of peace?
How soon until Neromius marches to a land grab?
On a scale of 1-10 how stereotypically Neromian is Horst?

(Cryptic's eyes boggle as the Chief gives her nomination. This was not something he could have ever expected. As the eyes of over a dozen hardened mercenaries turned to regard him with interest and anticipation he gulped, and stepped forward).

"Uh, right. Look, Chief with all due respect- and I actually do mean that you're due respect, this isn't that passive aggressive shit, I'm no leader. I'm an effective enough subordinate, you can point me in the general direction of something you want gone, let me loose and count on me to get the job done. And I won't lie, I like to do my homework whenever possible, intel is important and it saves lives. If we'd known about those mines I might not even be giving this speech right now. And assure you I can stay cool under pressure.

Those are the things I can do. What I can't do is see the big picture. I have enough trouble managing my own combat space. I can't command respect, I've only been with the company one mission, and I saw one of your most experienced vanish in a hail of gunfire. I can't just waltz in and slip into his shoes, and when missions are dangerous enough to kill your best men you NEED someone who knows the score. Tragedy is right, you can't just appoint the FNG as subcommander of your combat teams without damn good reason. Like if they were some tactical wunderkind or something.

I'm not that person. Frankly I've never met that person, but I think that the closest substitute you're going to get,"

(He directs his gaze at a certain member of the crowd)

"-is Malek. Ever since I got here all I've seen him do outside of combat is organise, compile and analyse information, then offer calmly reasoned input based upon it. He has a keen tactical and strategic eye, and the capacity to apply his intel to the field. He's also been around the block enough to know the score. To be honest I was intending to nominate him for the job even before Kerry gave his recommendation."

"So thanks Chief, I'm flattered. Thanks, but no thanks. I can't accept this recommendation."

(He gives her a respectful nod, then turns to walk away, then pauses as if in thought before walking back up to the front).

"I don't have much money, but you guys have none. When Hetros went down I realised I wanted any chance I could get to avoid the same fate. And I want you to have that chance too. It might not be a shield or a fancy new armour mod, I'm kind of on a budget here. All I can offer you is this. A second chance in a can."

>>48303667

Tragedy pushed off from the wall she was leaning on and presented a beaten up old lighter to Nyx. "Here, I don't smoke but my practical side demands I have one."

Tragedy listened to the message after she had finished wire welding the names of her recently fallen comrades into the dedication plate she had remounted onto Haros, the Wimp she piloted. She stopped in the middle of pouring herself a glass of raki at hearing Gunman's three things. "Hm," she commented, and filled the glass the rest of the way before pouring whatever was left over the names. A silent prayer for the dead, and Tragedy sat down to her meal while contemplating the candidates.

As it stands shots can scatter beyond their range. Max scatter is 4.

One thing you kept bringing up is that you were trying to avoid the explosion. Well the thing is to me explosions are not rockets from doom or quake. They are huge, kind of like they are in real life. If you are within the blast radius you are caught in an all encompassing volume of force, or in the bullet hose's case an all encompassing blizzard of exploding bullets.

I think the fact that it's easy to hit an empty hex is offset by the fact that blast damage decays.

I could come up with a more complex system for blast damage that would address your concerns but I need to keep things from getting too complex lest processing weighs down on me.

So how about this: When shooting at the ground there is a set 25% chance that the blast will scatter, no hit modifiers apply. Scatter distance is randomly rolled on a D4 in this case.

Plus if you want an alligator so bad, just buy one. It's cheap, you can get a fully kitted out one for around 21 Cred, less if you borrow liberally from the company stash.

A defensive mech at the tip of the spear is valuable as a failsafe. And Chuck is one of our most valuable pilots.
But make no mistake, if nobody wants to buy into my combat doctrine it's best not to vote for me.

>>48304387
You don't need to make special rules for shooting the ground. Just make it a little harder to hit and it will work the same without circumventing skills that give hit boni.

I'd also like to bring up my concern with the absence of powerful options for snipers in the Gunner skill's 3rd tier. I'd like to see "roll twice pick highest" for called shots with single shot weapons as +2 to hit really isn't great compared to shooting twice as much and Skills like ambush and automated aggression. It would also stop rapid fire from being the best for critting which further drives snipers into obscurity.

Skills that add damage would also be better balanced if they added X - the weapons ROF damage as they then would add the same damage potential to all weapons.

Now a question: If I scrap my mech I don't have to pay upkeep right? That's why it gives less cash than repairing and selling it.

>Credits: (probably) 30

I have to agree with this. As someone who wants to play a sniper, more specifically a sniper with stealth, Ambush gives everything Marksman does, with more bonuses, and it is possible to move the same turn as firing.

>>48304387
1Malek
2 Gunman
3 Alice

I actually think Alice would make a great squad commander, she might be pragmatic and ruthless, but she's also cool and above all proffesional. I'd just prefer to see her making tactical decisions instead of executive ones, it seems more in her wheelhouse and we could avoid international infamy.

All the other countries are watching the developing situation but haven't committed to a course of action yet.

So just crank up the Def then? I'd set it at 8 but that's weird since there are mooks with 6 and it's weird if hitting the ground is harder than hitting a mook... but whatever. I'll put it at 8 then.

>Roll twice pick highest for Gunner tier 3.
Sure, done.

>Damage buffs doing X-RoF
I'll think about it. It's a good idea but some fringe cases might cause the math to break down.

>If I scrap my mech I don't have to pay upkeep right?
More like if your mech was wrecked you don't need to pay upkeep cus if you want it back you already have to pay to restore it. Either way: no.
>>
>>48305288
>it's weird if hitting the ground is harder than hitting a mook
Think of it being like trying to hit the right spot to catch something in the splash damage. Maybe only make it higher if there are active targets in the blast?
>>
>>48305444
yeah, that way bombarding cover/fortifications will be easier, but trying to land hits with splash damage alone is more tricky

Haze stands at the back of the room during the eulogies, politely staying quiet but fidgeting a bit. She doesn't know any of these people, and while death isn't really something she's comfortable with, she's more irritated having to stand around.

Once things have passed, she goes to the hangar to look over her new mech, eyes beaming as she familiarizes herself with the controls and systems, more than likely missing out on the internal politics going on around her ... except for >>48303532

This perks her interest if but a moment - gifts and favours weren't something she was used to, but she nods to Cryptic in thanks as the parts are delivered to her for installation.

Words words words aside, I hope I'm doing this right?
>>
Concerning my XO candidature, check out Mission 5 where I got Eisensturm and Chuck's mechs wrecked because I was discontent with the other front sections' timid approaches on a time sensitive target.
I think that we failed to detain Irving because we didn't move aggressively enough some pilots stayed behind until others advanced thus presenting easy targets to the enemy.
Had we moved in as one unit the enemy may have split it's fire and we would have certainly been able to bring more of our firepower to bear in the next turn and gain more ground to maneuver on.

The SE squad in our last sortie acted exactly like I'd want everyone to act.
Killing targets as they appear and taking our damaged mechs out of the line of fire but still fighting.

>>48305288
Hitting a spot of land may be harder than hitting a tank because targeting computers don't recognise them as targets.

Also, this >>48304850 was supposed to be about my ignorant question about maintenance costs. I ask a lot of those lately, I'm sorry about that.
>>

>>48305288
Could you answer the question here >>48304456 ?

In essence, does the Fortified Systems skill stack with an installed Redundant Systems? And if so, could you (in theory) have multiple Redundant Systems on the same mech?

I know it's probably overkill, but I wanna build a tanky little bastard.
>>
>>48305711
Aye
>>
>>48305625
this makes sense. I was thinking something similar to this(along the vein about movement making shots harder), but this is simple enough and easy to do.
>>
>>48305718
As far as I know you can. might need confirmation from cognis, but essentially what you are doing is taking two R.systems. And I remember someone doing exactly what you are saying right now.
>>
>>48305718
Yes. You can stuff as many redundant sub systems into your mech as the hardpoints will allow. They don't so much stack as they blow out one after the other.

Weird thing is I have almost never seen anyone use a redundant sub system that they didn't get from the Combat Tech class.

>>48305444
>>48305538
>>48305693
It's settled then, the Def value for shooting the ground will be raised to 8.

>>
>>48305858
I'm pretty sure we do.
>>
>>48305837
Replacement means replacement. If you really want a Cobra you can sell off your starter and buy one. It's dirt cheap, more so if you fill out the remaining hard points from the company stash.

>>48305858
Yes
>>
>>48305858
Oh.. that would make sense. But I would still vote for Hunter Doctrine. 1/2 missions and thats a license if we don't buy anything else. >>
>>48305872
>>48305875

also, cognis, the description of the minelayer missile in the company assets file still says it deploys 3 mines, while the picture shows 4.

>>48305897
oh okay. then my vote is still unchanged(hunter doctrine). the lancer cannon will help new guys stay far and safe while dishing out damage.

In the future however, which is probably after next mission if we do well, in terms of licences, are we getting Apex or landsknecht?
>>
>>48305967
I think the +1 buff to LHI's sabot cannon's damage went under the radar, I'm quite fond of it now. LHI has the better mechs but Apex general equipment, apart from the AMS and reactive Armor, is more useful in the short run. I say we get the Apex license save our money and then everyone buys LHI mechs after we get it.
>>
>>48306093
cept for those who want range 15 guns that can one shot smaller mechs... Another argument for Apex first.
>>
>>48305967
Ugh typos again...

You need both the Modernization Program and Apex license to get the A2 Refit Package.

Same with the L2, except with LHI.

Hotfixes:
-Fixed the Minelayer Missile Typo.
-GGA Snub Recoiless should be mountable on either an arm or torso hardpoint. I've since corrected that.
-The Elite Gunner Skill Proficiency now allows to roll twice to hit for each shot and pick the highest result.

>>48306093
I realized that having a single shot 5 damage weapon in a game where most of the mid level mooks have 6 HP is really annoying.

>range 15 guns
exactly. last mission I felt so frustrated since being a drone operator I always use one action for drone control, leaving me with only one action each turn. and the 6 range on the laser rifle, although not bad, was short enough for the enemy mechs to stay out of my overwatch range and engage spare.

>why not Lord?
Predator's railgun has Armor penetration which kills most vehicles outright even if they have reactive armor, their best defense. also lord lacks a leg hardpoint and I refuse to be stuck with 4 mobility again. I already have the thruster array too so everything's set.

Assuming I get on a predator, if I can land a lock with my recon drone I can land 15 Range 10 Dmg 4 Crit 17 Pen attacks with +4 to roll that ignores Damage Reduction. Along with a follow up longbow if I feel like it. lord deals 2 damage each shot against reactive, in which would mean heavy tanks take 4 shot to take down even with the lancer cannon.

>but railgun has reload attribute
so does the lancer cannon. and most importantly Apex license=Enhanced Autoloader. getting Apex not only grants us the predator, it also helps new guys with lancer lords as well since the autoloader works on the lancer cannon as well.

>>48306295

>>
>>48306316

>>
>>48306361

>>
>>48306382
!!!
I was reading it wrong this whole time then. I figured it was a trade off, making it's crits hit harder but harder to crit, since a single extra crit can bump up a lot of weapon to 5 crit damage.

thanks, didn't pick up on that.
>>
>>48306409

Hence why I use it on volume of fire.

>>48306148
say, another quick question, cognis.
can we use the lock on action, either with ourselves or recon drone, on the ground, for the purpose of aiming with blast weapons?
>>
>>48306178
>DEF: 16(10+4+2)
whoops. that +4 is supposed to be from the smoke screen, and +2 from Adaptive camo. so the actual Defense should be 10.
>>
>>48306356
Great, now on that note...

>>48304626
Horst. Could you lend your fists (all four if them) to the mission? You've already made it clear how much damage you can do.

We'll want some hackers too, Guye Co. has poor e-def, and we need to capitalise on any advantage we can.
>>
>>48306470
Nyx takes the hand and shakes.
"Yes. My family have no ambition, and when I pointed this out to them, they took exception to my continued presence. I thought that a mercenary company would be the best way to not only out earn them but prove they have forgotten who they are. So you prefer weight of fire, yes?"

>>48306481

Right I'm going to bed. Tomorrow I will tally the votes from those who have voted and unveil the 3C's new command structure. Then we'll see about picking the missions for the next campaign turn.
>>
>>48306136
Seeing how Manny of us are using Lancer Cannons right now I don't think the Railgun will be the next big thing.

>>48306148
>The Elite Gunner Skill Proficiency now allows to roll twice to hit for each shot and pick the highest result.
>for each shot
That still makes snipers worse than rapid fire weapons for criting, snipers really need a buff that doesn't buff other weapons more.

I also realized that X - RoF would favour linkef Sabot Cannons and Boom sticks especially. That can be fixed by always giving linked weapons +1.

>I realized that having a single shot 5 damage weapon in a game where most of the mid level mooks have 6 HP is really annoying.

That they can be linked really puts them on another level but they aren't better than LHI's other weapons.
>>
>>48306741

That's what servoes are for. You don't need much extra movement speed when you have long range weapons.

Frankly though, I can't help but feel that no LHI mech is complete without shell plating.
>>
>>48306998
True, I had forgotten those. And the concept of massive artillery strikes would obliterate most tank forces.
I suppose I liked the idea of a WWII style anti-air gun on legs.
>>
>>48307052
this reminds me, an onager equipped with dual howitzers, autoloader, advanced FCS, piloted by a gunner would be a big rainmaker.
shells fall, everyone dies.
>>
>>48307101
yeah with Marksman and Alpha Strike, then followed with an overwatch, thats 4 shells a turn....
>>
>>48307140
I don't think you can overwatch with a gun you fired that turn. But 2 shells from range 15 is already amazing, handily blowing away all but other LHI mechs.
>>
>>48306667
cognis, the GGA recoilless rifle still says it can only be equipped only on the arm hardpoints.

>>48307140
If HV rounds are available siege cannons can be used instead, at 8 range. now add a stiletto and a enhanced autoloader. devastating.
>>
>>48307203
The siege cannon is already the best "melee" weapon in my book.
>>
>>48307196
oh yeah the actions cannot use a already used piece of equipment
>>
>>48307239
Pugilist called, it wants it's title for 'highest DPT in the game' back.
onager with dual siege and sabot does have DPT of 30, like pugilist with dual P.fist and dual extra punching arms. but Pugilist can charge with the weapon, giving the tiny advantage in the DPT race.
>>
>>48307297
You forgot hedgehog system, so thats another 2 damage. However, it can't do it in a 2 blast radius, only directly infront of it with Reaper doctrine.
>>
>>48307297
And Point Blank's bonus damage, so another +4 damage. So Pugilist is still on top with 36 DPT.

Borealis just looked on the eulogy silently. After saying a quick apology to Wechuge for failing to protect him, he walks off to join the conversation. Somewhat surprisingly for the man who usually looks like he'll burst into tears if somebody so much as glares at him, Borealis seems unusually stone-faced. At least until he manages to reach other people, at which point his face softens a bit back to his usual self. "I-i'm really not used to funerals," he mutters "T-they still seem weird to me..."
>>

It does look like Malek will make the race but if Command doesn't object I'd like to form a squad Gunsquad ? to work with more closely.

In theory you can deal 216 damage with scythe fire control and two bullet hoses.
If you lethaly criting 6 LHI mecjs with ablative armor who are surrounded by infantry.
The Ion cannon dwarves even that if you can get the bad guys to do a conga line.

That's just silly. Blast weapons already have enough to be concerned about when making attacks: Scatter, damage decay, friendly proximity, and often indirect fire penalties.

(Cryptic finishes the last touches of welding on the interior armour he'd added to his Crocodile's cockpit as a contingency, then glances down at the chibi camel still loosely placed atop the control panel after falling off in the previous mission. He pauses, then reaches down and performs some quick and dirty spot welds to permanently fix it in place. This done, he drops off his gear, crosses the base, sidles up to the Chief's new office and raps the door with the back of his knuckles before entering with a nervous smile).

>GuyeCo Sabotage mission
Definitely in. We need to find out more about what's going on, to stand a hope in hell of getting through this coming conflict on top.

"There has been some talk on battle strategies for the company going forward, so I think I'll make my position clear so everyone knows where I stand:

"In the offensive missions we face, there are always a number of different possible avenues of attack. And in this previous mission, we spread ourselves far too thin. Though we were able to bring our firepower to bear on a wide front initially, after the first assault we were spread out to far to properly aid each other and focus fire on the warlord. No-one needs reminding of the price we paid for it.

"Going forward, I would attempt to ensure we are always deployed in stronger groups. We don't need to cover all bases in every mission, and more concentrated firepower will lets us kill primary targets and still have a member able to overwatch and protect their group. Our strength as a company has always been our teamwork and choosing to guard our brothers over the glory-seeking play. Hopefully the new Squad-Leader roles will help cement that further.
>>
>>48308723
>we spread ourselves far too thin
This may be true, but I recall someone (you, I think) pushing for going all in at the south east entrance. And if we'd done that we may well have all blundered through the thickest layer of mines and done even more damage to ourselves, then every unit in the place would have swarmed us while we were crippled.

Mines aside the bulk of the assault actually went quite smoothly. Spreading ourselves out cleared out the patrol units immediately, and the bulk of the reinforcements right after. The problem was that the south east team lacked the stopping power to deal with the mech squad quickly, so they got bogged down. This, I think, is where you have a point. We didn't see the mines, but we did know the mechs were there and we should have set the right units up instead of assuming we could take them.

And as for the final reinforcements, I don't think a single goat hit anyone. Hetros was killed, but that was pure rotten luck, having his stealth broken like that right in the warlord's firing line, then taking all those hits.

I do agree with you about the future though. Our opponents are only going to get worse from here. What if we end up fighting a proper state military mech squad? Or worse, Peacekeepers? We're all specialised, and we need to synergise those specialities properly to stand a chance against these kinds of foes.
>>
>>48308918
Hear hear!
Rest assured though, "we" will not fight peacekeepers.
>>
>>48308918
>the south east entrance
I actually thought the SW entrance was best, but deployed SE when I saw the listed actions so that no-one was on their own. That kind of confusion at deployment is exactly what I hope the new command chain will eliminate.

Looking forward, we're about to assault a Guye Co base. Guye Co mechs are terrifyingly hard hitting, but have two weaknesses: Hacking and short range. Since we can't guarantee the battlefield will allow for long-range dueling, I recommend that everyone who can bring a hacking pod. There are two spare ECM in the company stash for starters.

Oh yes, and if we do get the Lord Moderisation, I'll buy whoever takes one a Minelayer. Nothing ruins a Pugalist's day like a wall of mines.

On the subject of the Company Funds, how many recruits do we have who would actually benefit from the Modernisation? My records show three new pilots (Nihilus, Bob Doe, Nyx) and I've heard rumour there's an "Ithaqua" lurking about the place... Of you four, who would take the Lord modernisation if it was offered?
>>
>>48309279
>There are two spare ECM in the company stash
I'll have one if you and Spare don't mind. The Croc has pretty good sensor range for it, and I'm too broke to buy my own.

> I'll buy whoever takes one a Minelayer
Generous offer. That and the Lancer Cannon are great weapons for fighting Guye Co, so having both is pretty tasty.
>>
>>48309267
>"we" will not fight peacekeepers.
"We" might not have a choice. Need I remind you that we're standing in a blacksite containing questionable or outright illegal materials, and also we have a black market arms dealer on speed dial who just seriously attempted to steal uranium.

Nice. This will come in very handy against Guye Co, some of their mechs are pretty tough.

So I /think/ maybe we squared away the XO job and we're already kind of discussing how we're going to engage Guye Co.
Personally, I'd like that intel before we get into the meat and potatoes of load out and approach.

I'd like to throw out there for the 3C the possibility that Guye Co. doesn't actually use churned out company goons who simply go with Guye Co. products. There are PMCs who run security details to consider and there was mention that mech scaled corporate skirmishes do happen from time to time.

Well, the briefing doesn't specify whether the elite mech units there are home grown or outsourced, so you have a point. At the very least it seems more likely than not that they're using Guye Co. products simply because they'd logically be on some long term contract if they're on security duty, and companies sometimes provide their own wares for pilots.

What worries me is the 'Elite' part of that descriptor. The warlord we just fought was an elite pilot with a mostly Guye Co. loadout, and you saw how much trouble he gave us.

Bottom line, we have no way of knowing exactly what's deployed there until we arrive, so the best we can do for now is prepare for the mostly likely scenario, and that's well equipped Guye Co. mechs.

Well, and some armoured vehicles, and ornery civilians.

...

Hang on a squig...

>Civilians
>>48306667
Command, I know the rules would say otherwise at present, but would the Canister Gun be able to affect multiple infantry, since it basically launches a tear gas round?
>>

>>
>>48310119
The last briefing is also a little stale, so a few details might have changed since we missed the two turn window -but we'll see. The thing about elite units is, they are even less likely to use company equipment which the advantage is that it saves both parties a bit of money.
I'm hoping that the field work Tragedy had done might also give a small bit of insight on force composition and whatnot. I'm really just crossing my fingers here, but one can hope. At least until the shoe drops.

I actually have not gotten a chance to debrief on the last round of operations but I did see what happened to Hetros (may he rest in peace.) The warlord (does this guy have a name?) did have a custom mech though. No idea how customized it was (and we may never know, since he blew himself up to avoid trial.)

He also had composite armour that gave him more HP and the DR of which was particularly troublesome for all our low power per shot weapons (swarmers and especially smart guns). I think he had servoes as well. Who knows what internals he had. If anyone feels like it they can go poke around the shrapnel outside and see if they develop any startling insights. He may have had an Apex made FCS, given all the times he kept actually hitting with those fucking things.

Generally yes, from Guye Co. no.

They have a couple of EMP weapons, but they have a fairly slim chance of popping, and frankly if you're tussling with a Batman or a Pugilist you're probably going to be too dead to worry about it.

And hacking? As far as Guye is concerned, tapping away at keyboards like a nerd is about the least manly form of combat imaginable, so as you can imagine it's not a priority. It also means they're super vulnerable to hacking themselves. If you can, try and scrounge an ECM module from someone, you never know when you might get some use from it.

>>

>>48311621
Hacker here. EMP weapons are pretty strong, they basically allow you to shut down most enemies for one turn.

Hacking is a bit iffier, it only really gets worthwhile once you're at least Veteran rank, where you obtain the ability to hack once per turn as a free action. I'd say it's pretty good against mechs, but mostly useless against anything else. Some of the effects you can apply are really debilitating, and to remove them, the enemy has to waste an action.

That's my point of view, at least.
>>
>>48311740
Yeah, which also means you have a better chance to maintain your stealth while you're doing this. I kind of envy you for how much this is going to wound their macho pride.

>>48311666
>how are they on scanners?
Their scanners are about as shitty as their firewalls. That said,
>it is also easy to sneak up on them?
If you have stealth, yes, otherwise no. If they can see you they can see you, whether or not you're in sensor range. You don't, at present. Any trained commandos or anyone with stealth or camo armour could do it. Alice is like a ghost's shadow, so it's the whole basis of her combat style.
>>

>are emps and hacking a real threat?
Not really IMO. You will lose an action to recover. That's better than being shot with a rocket or cannon, those should be your main concern.

Yeah, I saw. Kail, and...well, if Hetros were here he would probably deny it was him there just like he did last time.

I'd have asked for input like I did about the Midas Range, but...well, Guye isn't really subtle enough for that to be necessary. Maybe I'll interrogate him about AESR if they come up though.

>"And on second thought, if drinking with guye impresses you you should probably stay outta my Neromian muckmaw vintage, there's some raki around here if you're a lightweight"
(Cryptic shakes his head in wry amusement)
Horst, there is a stark divide between a lightweight by international standards and a lightweight by Neromian standards. You could have drunk me under the table when you were six.

(He looks thoughtful)

Actually, I bet you could have beat me in a fight when you were six, you would have been about my size back then.

(He grins).
>>
>>48311491

Well Bob, we might have some missiles tucked away in the armory still, or I can get you a sensor suite to lock from a distance and detect stealth. There is also a spare ecm pod if you're truly worried about hackers.
>>
>>48312180
Well does the company have any spare emp missiles then? From what I heard, we are fighting mechs from Guy co. soon and I want something that can stop or slow down those melee monsters from reaching me. If not, I'll have the ecm pod and participate in another mission.
>>
>>48312287
It's ultimately up to your vote and preference (unless we get too many volunteers), but in my estimate it's unlikely you'll be on that mission. Heck, I may have said I was game, but I may not even be on it. This mission is potentially hazardous, so we need the best combination of attack power, ECM and support, and that means a carefully chosen crack squad.

Oh, and I believe there were some EMP missiles in the armoury, but Izzy and Kestrel were both expressing an interest in them last I saw.

It's probably worth mentioning that since this is a well defended site it's likely to have AA turrets that could intercept missiles, so I would be cautious about bringing them along.

The big man smiles, the scars on his face creasing from the wideness of it
"Camelshit and modesty. I didn't beat my first nevikian until I was 13, here-"

>Hold up, reactive armor doesn't ignore armor penetration?
>Isn't that the whole point of reactive armor?
Reactive gives high DR for 4 times, but it's still DR. The general rules still apply.

>>48312383
Why yes, I DID request a missile pod. And ablative armor. And a morar. And a stiletto.

I just wanted to set up a second mech to call in just in case I get wrecked. We must not fail this mission, so I'm getting my plan B ready.

(Cryptic eyes the flask critically. Then he begins to speak, slowly, gaze never leaving his own warped reflection in it's gleaming surface).

The Chief seemed to think I had at least a basic level of tactical talent. I guess she was right, because even I know a trap when I'm about to walk into one.

(He sighs).

But what are rookies for if not to make utter tits of themselves for the amusement of the regulars.

(He takes the flask and knocks bag a slug from it. Then he lowers it, and maintains a carefully even expression as he swallows, an expression that is only slightly betrayed by the tears welling up in the corner of his eyes. Eventually he turns back to Horst, and slurs, in a voice that sounds like a femur bone being sandpapered:

"I luvved it. This izz delightful. It's souh goud I'mmuna have sum more."

(then he takes another shot and gags, almost vomiting as he speaks his next words),

"Hgkh, oh my...oh my saint that's...that's so good. It's...it's such a complex rich flavour. It's like ambrosia."

(he forces the flask back into Horst's waiting palm with slightly more vigour than is really necessary).

Nyx narrows his eyes and steps forward. He takes the flask and swallows a gulp. He stands very still for a second. His eyes are watering slightly.
"I've... had... worse..." Nyx grimaces. As he hands back the flask he scrunches up his eyes for a second. Nyx sits back down, and seems to be focusing very hard on the table infront of him, his head against his fists as if in prayer.

The batman is a lot more impressive than the Komodo. Survivable too, with actual room to grow.
But I guess more people would rather stay far away and shoot than run up and take fire. Weird...

I know I'd prefer LHI, but I could go either way.

"I can see you all are quite eager to purchase the next round of upgrades and deploy to new missions, unfortunately such activities have had to be suspended until the command situation has been sorted out. With everything that's happened it's become unfeasible for the Commander to rubber stamp every little thing. So we will be implementing a new command structure. "Due to the expanding scope of the 3Cs operations we have a lot of people waiting on the decisions of one man. Thus more personnel will be invested with the authority to make command decisions. The Chain of Command is now as follows:"

-The Commander will have ultimate authority over the highest level decisions.
-The old 2IC position will now be replaced by two Officers to lead in the Commander's absence.
-3 NCOs will be appointed to co-ordinate tactics in the field and sign off on inventory transfers.
-James Kerry is the Head of Operations, he will intervene to resolve disputes between those of equal rank if the Commander/Officers do not make an executive decision in a timely manner.

Cable Guy: "Aside from the Dvorak Mission things are ramping up out in the world."

Guye Co. Industrial Sabotage
Client: Dvorak
Mech Limit: 10
Description: Deploy to Merika and destroy key targets at a Guye Co. manufacturing plant.
Intel: Expect a handful of elite mech units supported by a few squads of combat vehicles. Be careful about moving through the surrounding civilian areas, the local populace is quite… ornery. Mech Recovery is possible, salvage is not. Completing this mission will grant us more information about the technology behind the Cognis super-mech.

Reinforce the QAF
Client: The Qadrus Armed Forces
Mech Limit: 10
Description: QAF forces have taken severe casualties holding off the Droiqubaran attack. Deploy to the desert and cover the retreat of their remaining units while blunting a second wave of enemy attackers.
Intel: The presence of at least one YOLO super heavy assault server has been confirmed along with a veteran mecha squad. Expect additional enemy ground and air forces to enter the battlefield over the course of the mission. There are pockets of allied MBTs and mecha in the area but they are under orders to retreat so support will be limited. Mech recovery is possible upon successfully completing the mission, salvage is not.

Black Market Interdiction
Client: IF Security Council
Mech Limit: 10
Description: A rogue mercenary group is escorting a shipment of stolen nuclear material through Droerus. The Peace Keepers would deploy to intercept them but the recent Zanvran invasion has forced them to redeploy.
Intel: The DAF and Peacekeepers are currently repelling the Zanvran assault in the same area so things are going to be a bit of a clusterfuck. The Zanvrans will attack you if they get you in their sights so try to leave them to the DAF and stay focused on the objective. The rogue merc unit consists of various veteran and elite mecha.

Cable Guy: "We've also received a few missions from the job offices up in Noblesse Oblige. A lot of people out there need our help."

Refugee Escort
Client: A Bunch of Poor Unfortunate Souls/Noblesse Oblige
Mech Limit: 5
Description: Refugees from various desert communities are fleeing the fighting around the Principality. Escort a convoy through a dangerous region to safety.
Intel: Possible threats to the convoy include bandits, deserters, wild mega fauna and mega cavalry. Any human opposition is unlikely to have anything bigger than a tank but the mega fauna could pose a serious threat if larger more aggressive species are encountered. Salvage and mech recovery is possible upon successfully completing the mission.

Protect Relief Convoy
Client: Red Crux/ Noblesse Oblige
Mech Limit: 5
Description: A Red Crux charity mission is heading into the Midas range to give medical aid to poor settlements. Escort the convoy through the area and protect them from both human and natural hazards alike.
Intel: Local Warlords often try to hijack these convoys to tend to their own wounded, thus fueling their own conflicts. If one does make a move expect light vehicles, VTOLs, infantry and mega cavalry. Salvage and mech recovery is possible upon successfully completing the mission.

You know what? I could drop the plan of bying an additonal EMP launcher and buy a stiletto, while Taking an HK launcher from the storage instead. Although this would prevent me from spamming EMP missiles, since I would only have 1 launcher instead of two. That is, if I ever get my request approved.
>>
>>48317706
"C'mon, just sign it."

Either way, I wanted two EMP launchers because EMP shocking Guyco mechs works as well as hacking. Better even, since you guarantee hits as long as you have a lock and they don't have tacshield/reacive armor. with TWO launchers, I can practically spam the things if things get tricky to shoot with the mortar.
speaking of mortar, I was choosing it because since it was a cobra exclusive weapon, and nobody was using it, I figured it would be of use if I stepped up to use it by buying a cobra frame myself."

>YOLO super heavy assault server
Hmn. A thought occurs. The one mission on record that the Camels actually failed was an assault server mission, partly because of the trouble you had with their thick armour, and these ones are reportedly even tougher.

If we're going to end up fighting YOLO's in future we may want to consider the Apex license, since their armour piercing magnetic weapons would greatly simplify the task of destroying them.

Anyway, observations aside our best option seems fairly clear cut. We need to send a choice team to Murika, so we'll lack the concentration of skill and high end equipment to take an assault server, and we want to maintain our black market contact, at least for now. Plus, IF is about as shady as Irving, in its own way.

It seems like our best option is to split the rest of the pilots between the two aid jobs.

The real question is, what's the best team to take on Guye Co.?

New rookies (that is to say, Nihilus, Nyx, Haze and Bob Doe), give your input on the modernization package. Nyx and Nihilus, would you take a Lord or a Crocodile, and Haze and Bob Doe, would you consider switching for one?

Depending on the answer to this it may be more economical to send the new people out on one mission and just let them trade up for their own lord, they're not that expensive and they should easily be able to afford one after one mission.

Lets reserve voting on licenses till we actually know whether we can afford one this turn.

>>
>>48318732
Certainly.

--

I like modernization programmes. They're useful for providing new recruits with effective gear. And if we want to get them, let's get them.

However, I have a different suggestion.

Given that we can pick our own missions, it's no longer a hard requirement to get every new recruit decked out as quickly as possible. They don't need to immediately join the missions where you're exposed to the most dangerous environment. On an individual basis, a modernization package saves a new recruit 10-20 credits - the mission pay for their first mission. And then they outlive it.

Is this good? Yes. Is it useful? Yes.

But perhaps it's not so effecient in the long run. It's stuff you bypass quickly, less of a requirement if you don't need the weaponry provided to keep up with those who have been mission-active longer.

Instead, I suggest we buy an APEX License now and simply expand our total capabilites.

And then I will buy any rookie that wants it a layer of composite armor for their mech. With +4 HP and 1 Dr, even the venerable Komodo gets intimidating, and the selection we have for starters right now is still pretty good.
>>

but for now it's fine if you put it on the leg. and grab a guidance disputer from storage and install it on the torso. if you get approval, it will at least give you defense against missiles.
hey, if you want, I can give my drone's HV rounds to you. my combat drones rarely shoot, and extra 2 range on that frag cannon, however short it may be, is useful."

if we get the Apex license now, and if our company can generate 70 credits in liquid company assets per strategic time-unit, we can get the Reaper doctrine after our next deployment and the LHI license after the deployment that comes after this one.
Speaking of deployments, I'd like to take a team of rookies ,and a support oriented veteran if one volunteers, to guard the relief convoy.
Nyx especially caught my interest.

That'll be the done deal, then.

We'll transfer 80 of our standing company credits to the nice APEX Representative, get the load-out for APEX available as of right now.

And anyone recruits who want it can see it my office with a written essay on the sociopolitical implications of the recent Zanvra invasion of Landun soil. Twenty pages minimum, remember references, and no sourcing that crackpot Dr. Buccni.

I'm joking. It's for armor paperwork.

HK and EMP is outright universal to those who can afford it, and Exo-Terra's mech take those up to another level. of course, there are still even better mechs than Exo, but missiles will still be prevalent due to it's range and it's damage. However there are still ways to counter it. For example, the Exo-Terra's very own chaff launchers. It's not guranteed to save you however, if the enemy has good sensors, tac-net hub, and teamwork."

Next time, baby...
>>
>>48316923
>>48316973

I'm partial towards doing the Noblesse Oblige missions. The refugee escort sounds like a job that would be unlikely to have support unless we took it on so if we have to choose between the two I'd with that one...still if I'm needed on the Guye Co. run I'm willing to deploy or at the very least loan out my eccm.

>>48319720
I noticed the ablative armor that is on --production cobra-- is still listed as being checked out to me.
>>
Now we've settled on the company purchases with the Apex license, we should consider the missions more fully:

>>48316923
We have (roughly) 20 active mech pilots currently, enough for either two 10-mech jobs or one 10-mech and two 5-mechs. I sincerely recommend not going more than 1 below the deployment limit, see my previous comments on spreading ourselves too thin.

>Guye Co. Industrial Sabotage. 10-mechs
We definitely want to do this. Discovering more about what's going on behind the scenes should be our top priority at all times. Many of us have already signed up, myself included, though it would be a good idea to have at least one Officer or NCO at each mission.
>Current volunteers: Izzy, Tragedy, Kestrel, Cryptic, Haze, Alice, Kail, Malek, Nihilus

>Reinforce the QAF. 10-mechs
A defensive battle, which suits many of our load-outs (myself included). The presence of a YOLO carrier is disturbing, but potentially killable using some new Apex gear. Any intel on whether said Air-support units will be limited to Helos/VTOLs, or include Fighters? The Chaff they come with makes taking them out a significant issue. If we take this one, recommend buying the pioneers defence turrets for AA duty.

>Black Market Interdiction. 10-mechs
Since Irving has already been paid, I hope he won't be annoyed by us blowing up his clients. Still, this mission (while noble in salvaging uranium) looks like a complete fuck-up waiting to happen. If we do take it, I'd recommend only our toughest or most ninja-like pilots go in (Alice and Chuck, I'm looking at you).

>Refugee Escort. 5-mechs
>Protect Relief Convoy. 5-mechs
These two missions are broadly similar: escorting vulnerable do-gooders through difficult terrain while being shot at. While they would help the people in each region (and provide training for our newer recruits), I don't think the good they would do compares to either of the other 10-mech missions.

Also Mr Kerry, what does the payout look like on all the missions?

>>48319746

Captain, I think my personal recommendation is to take Guye Co and the two Noblesse Oblige jobs. I think the simple escorts would give us a good reputation and be a safe influx of credits and experience.

However, I think we should be careful about who deploys on the Guye Co operation. After what the Wimp did to two of our mechs alone just topside, it should be our best pilots that face off against possibly a full-squad loaded similarly. I'm more than willing to take on the Guye Co mission if you need/want an experienced gunner, or I'll support an escort team if need be.
>>
>>48316923
>>48319746
Absent any further Intel, which missions we do depends on how much we want to focus on the Guye Co attack. If we think it won't require all our Elite pilots, then we might have enough left for either the QAF defence or the Black Market interdiction. If we want to go all out on it, then it would be better to take the two other smaller jobs for the recruits.

Mr Kerry, do we know if the Guye Co facility has much in the way of AA defences? Many of our number (myself included) are bring missiles as primary/secondary weapons, so that intel is very important. I remember Tragedy was investigating it, did she spot any AA towers or such?

The missions happen to take place in our new back yard, not taking one results in increasing local warlord strength should the Reiter creux fail to make it out, the other results in scattered civilians wandering around, feeding megafauna population on easy meals and spiking their populations, ignoring both gets our parent companys ire(of which we know little about regarding repercussions)

That said, I'm volunteering for either
A:helping our QAF friends again
B: humanitarian working for noblesse and local stability.

>>
>>48320063
"if that's the case... if you plan to get Flanker/Point blank as your next skill, then I recommend getting the dual mech pistol/dual heavy mech pistol over the frag cannon. It works better that way"
more shots mean bonuses apply in higher volume, since skill bonuses apply for every shot. A flanker with dual MP has 50% higher damage potential over frag cannon, and dual MP with Point blank gains +2 to hit for each of this shots. Not to mention simply having your damage divided up means you get to hit more often due to simply how dice works. HOWEVER. If there's Damage Reduction involved... you should pull out the frag cannon again or let other guys with bigger guns tackle it. like me with the HUGE raligun that punches through modern tanks like hot knife through butter(Ignores DR).

"speaking of, remember that we have a bunch of heavy mech pistols for use in the company storage. I see you already got one, but the pistols truly shine when linked.
this is my personal opinion, but if you plan on going to missions other than Guyco missions then I would take the guidance distruptor over the HMP. Or, you could even ask someone if they can buy that threat assessment module from Irving. that extra protection may save your life. Guyco is the weird bunch that doesn't have guided weapons, but local powers may have HKs(very possible on most vehicles) or infantry launched ATGMs(highly unlikely for ragtag raiders)"

The Tac shield provides amazing durability. In my first mission mine soaked 16 points of damage. I advise you decide on a single weapon to focus on (eg, twin pistols/mace/cannon), take a Shield on your other arm, and then bring either stuff to boost survival (eg that guidance disruptor) or a Demo charge. A bit of Boom can really save a mission.

>>48320907
I don't believe equipment DR stacks. You use the best you have.

Composite/Reactive armour is for people who want to use all their arms for GUNS, while still retaining some survivability. Best used with weapons that have decent range, to avoid getting blown up by retaliation strikes.

Shields and LHI shell plating is for those who are expecting to get up in the face of their enemy, and take fire on the chin. Good for close-range attackers.

Stealth is for sneaky-beakies, death-spouting ninjas like Alice, and supports like myself who use drones and hardly ever expect to fire an actual gun. Never underestimate the Knight-Lite canister gun.

Whew, been out all day, back now so many issues to address.

>Rank and Titles
The 3C is pretty much a company in both senses of the word. I decided to stick with generic terms but The positions of Commander, Officer and NCO are roughly analogous to Captain/Major, Lieutenant and Sergeant respectively. You guys can use those ranks or come up with your own titles if you want to.

>size comparison on the mech stat sheets.
Knight lite, Guye Co and Apex were done by a different artist and he didn't bother to add human silhouettes. I was lazy about adding them too. I'll get round to it eventually

>Mission Payouts
Cable Guy: "Guye Co and QAF pay a normal amount, The Black Market Interdiction gives higher pay than average but it is also the most dangerous. Both the Escort Missions are basically charity gigs so the payout is low but it'll be supplemented with salvage."

>Guye Co Sabotage Intel

Cable Guy: "According to the intel Tragedy gave us there'll be a small squad of 3 Elite mecha supplemented by ground forces, mostly light tanks, AFVs and LAVs. One of those mecha looks like some kind of custom job, like a pugilist... only meaner. The base does have AA turrets, that's pretty standard for this sort of thing. Weird thing: you guys agonize over AA putting a dent in your missile capabilities but have you ever considered... you know...taking out the AA? They're not that tough, and if you destroy them then your missileers can go to town."

"I came from Merika and no not everybody carries an ATGM around but... in that society people are really big on defending their property. There's a significant number of assholes with heavy weapons in their basements looking for an excuse to use them."
Kerry looks a bit sour at having to talk about his home country.

>Company Inventory

Don't forget that the late Hetros bequeathed a cough gun and fully kitted out Cirrus to the company. BTW who donated that Cobra. I'll have to sync my records later.
>>
>>48321070
>Hmm hopefully I don't regret this. But full-offense sounds so tempting
"Captain Malek, sir. Permission to swap my tac shield for two HMPs."
>>
>>48321068
"I'm certain there is some kind of line that you're not supposed to pass, and what you just described not only went way beyond it, it ripped out the line with landmines so there's no more line to see.

>>48321109
"Uh, cable guy, what are the chances of workers at guyco bringing a RPG or an ATGM to work? Two out of ten? Three?

>>48321118
"Bear in mind that you can't move if you fire both weapons! You need to spend all your time firing weapons if you want to."
>>
>>48321181
Relax, I may have been playing this up for comedic effect.

Not the part about garden centres though, that was true.

>>48321109
>Like a Pugilist... only meaner
Oh. Well that's disconcerting.
[Spoiler]If this thing has an LHI charge booster I will be VERY unhappy.
>>
>>48321249
"If anything, I will try to keep my eye out for that mech, and try to knock it out of the game asap. A vanilla pugilist is scary, I don't want to imagine what a custom one can do if it gets close enough to us."
>>
>>48321181
Cable Guy:"Zero. The average wage slave isn't gonna lug a rocket launcher around. It's the grumpy dudes sitting on their lawns that you have to worry about, that and the actual guards assigned to protect the base."

>>48306741
>Muh sniping!
I think you misunderstand the choices in the Gunner tree. It's not meant to be sniping vs dakka. It's meant to be accuracy vs dakka. One path rewards you for firing more/ allows you to fire more, while the other is meant to improve accuracy/ penetration.

I will continue to think on your suggestions though since I find them interesting, but implementing them as is will lead to some screwy fringe cases.

Looks like we're in sage mode and there's still a lot of talking to do. Guess this hanger thread will be a two parter.
>>
>>48321181
"Damn... So firing both takes up all my actions? Hmm I might have to rethink the tac shield swap then. Though the heavy suppressing fire while stationary is still quite tempting.'
>>
>>48318557
I vote for the Lord. Staying at range and hidden seems to be the best option to me...
>>
>>48321419
"Bear in mind that this is an assault mission, so we must advance on enemy positions. Which means that we will be forced to be on the move for once a turn at least.
If you want to lay down more dakka then you should respec to gunner and train up to alpha strike. You can fire four shots each turn that way (although all four of them are overwatches)"
>>
>>48320727
I don't have the armor any more it was turned back in when I handed over the cobra.
>>
>>48321568
"Very well then. Respec to gunner it is. I'll just use my overwatch to blast anything that moves within range of my HMPs"
>>
>>48321340
Cobra was my starter mech that I handed into the company so we would have some flexibility with deploying back ups.

Always good, but it's often unclear how much damage is needed to do that. Does it always need weapons with the [TNT] tag, or could you do it with a laser-rifle?

Don't tread on anyone's picket fence, got it.

>>48321772
Nihilus, I heartily recommend taking a Shield and choosing one of either pistols or frag to be your main weapon. They both fill the same role of a close-range assault gun, and the situations where you'll be able to fire one and overwatch the other will be minimal, especially compared to the number of situations where you'll get shot.
