From street-level to cosmic and everything in between, this is the thread to discuss all things superheroic, at least as tabletop games go. Mutants & Masterminds, Marvel Heroic, Heroes Unlimited, Dark Champions, Villains and Vigilantes, and any other system out there, this is the thread for you if you want to feel superhuman.

If I get time to post tomorrow I'm thinking about adding a little to Germany by way of that "Metal Men but based on German art movements" ideal. They're super builders and solve problems by creating infrastructure just like Deutsch Liga. They tend to be more exploration based while Deutsch Liga is more disaster response based. They try to build a new Power Gem extractor in Idaho and have to deal with Kirby Monster attacks. They have to quickly race against the clock and build Barsoom a new aquifer before its inhabitants die. They have to help spirit/physical relations by building a city fit for both faeries and people.

I like you. I'll do more.

-Canadian Man whom has the physiology of an "Aspen Tree": very resistant to the cold, mild-regeneration, can 'smell' water, but has horribly unattractive thick white skin and these suspisious black marks. Originally found out about his power via a trip to the doctors- thought the stripes/marks were cancerous.

-Child with a physical mutation: incredibly grotesquely over-sized tongue complete with an almost snake-like jaw that unhinges to allow it freedom of movement. Extremely self-conscious, but the tongue is HORRENDOUSLY strong, durable and can extend a-la-lickatongue-style the length of his body. His sense of taste and smell are dulled severely.

-Young girl with dramatically increased intelligence that gives her the compulsive nature to tinker and craft things, but they are of "Warhammer ork"/Warcraft Goblin quality. Lives at home with her parents: is on ADHD medication and garbage-picks.

-Teenager who possess a physical mutation: Gross, thick, leathery, bat-like wings. COULD theoretically fly and possess impressive physical strength and durability, but finds his mutation disgusting and embarassing. Is a flimsy, thin, out-of-shape web-comic artist who lives at home.

-Young girl with an alarming physical "Chimera" mutation: Her hands are replaced with horrifying, toothy, almost eel-like black mouths complete with tongues. She can control them like normal hands, even using their tongues as "fingers", but it's like wearing oven mitts. The hands can eat and taste. Also possess a black checker-patterned hide on her arms and legs and a single asemmetric horn on her forehead. Victim of child abuse- lives in a foster home with a loving family.

are we cool to start shaping other countries? I kinda wanna work on Canada. I can't help but wonder what happens to a country that defines itself so vehemently by peace and its preservation(even in the face of its current actions) and has a decent chunk of socialist ideals already in place.

>Super schools

In Japan they're big on competition and getting that attention of the government and corporations. Capes usually go to school with Capes.

America is big on raising "well rounded" cape children and encourage schools that have both capes and normals, but of course in practice many parents prefer having their children raised "among their own kind". And all-normal and all-cape private schools are a thing, especially in the wake of several school based superhuman fights. Schools are required to inform parents about any powers on campus-but not the identity of whoever has those powers.

In Russia the cape children go to bootcamp. Straight and to the point.

Africa doesn't worry much, because powers in Africa develop slow and gradually. Cape children are seen as any other child. They're simply a child with a rare gift.

Mexican capes are big on in-house homeschool. Its another part of the Mexican cape's life that is dominated by family and tradition. If your a cape kid in Mexico odds are your older brother or sister was your teacher.

The UK operates in a similar manner to America.

Germany is the same but its metahuman databases are all public knowledge. If you have a power in Germany people know who you are. It's part of their "really there's no Nazi super lineage here honest look at the lineage records" policy.

Australia follows the UK model.

Go for it man. Just don't job them out like Alpha Flight and if you can make one a werewolf girl for all those Canadian werewolf stories. She can be like a Canadian double to Bob Cat.

For a while now I've been wondering how to get incorporate some of the weirder old comic covers in here without killing the lore, and I think I've got it.

There were a ton of Superman comics back in the day that had him doing something that made him look bad on the cover but when you read the comic you found he was justified somehow. A cheap marketing tactic that was basically "why is Superman being a dick this month"? I'm thinking these kinds of weird covers with reputable trusted superheros being assholes can be put into the lore AS covers.

Let's say that journalism laws are different in Cape World, a lot looser in some parts. Crazy stuff happens a lot, events with astronomical implications happen everyday and need to be detailed to the public. But these things defy an attractive, snappy summary. You can't adequately summarize

>New potato-powered ray guns operating on several levels of radiation some of which do not exist fires a ray that when colliding with crystal-powered energy blasts distort time-space in such a subtle but far-reaching wavelength that you can summon the gods of the Spirit "Earth" of alien cultures to come on down to Idaho and discuss how the organic laser guns attached to their tentacles which feeding off the energy naturally provided by an element only found on their home planet can be used to better cut potatoes for the perfectly-sliced potato chips and how for the price of their potato-slicing assistance our species may begin negotiating trading elements unique to our planets

in a headline.

Journalists have a lot more freedom with titles, headlines and summaries and all that stuff, and pictures are even used a lot more; a picture tells a thousand words. As long as they give an adequate explanation in the main article.

This leads to newspapers that look like comic books. While the inside is mostly the same, the front takes full advantage of this freedom to give off whatever biased or clickbait-ey impression they can.

Let's say it's Statesmen election time, and Kentucky Rain's opponent has connections with the media. They could publish an article about Rain's humanitarian work in a country currently facing a drought, with Rain taking Superman's place in pic as their cover.

Inside the article they would be obligated to go into further detail on how he uses his powers to help, and of how at one point the concentration of hydrogen was strangely unbalanced in some water, and drinking it could be lethal. But of course that would all be explained behind the cover.

And then there's less sinister stuff that's just trying to sell. Especially with already popular bestselling heroes. A longrunning series of articles titled "Virginia Daring's Boyfriend: Louise Road!" were published immediately after Virginia confronted journalist Louise Road on why she wants him to stop with the ridiculous "Virginia Daring's Fairyland Homecoming" covers on the article about Fairy Finder's poor aptitude for faces, and when he agreed to talk to her about it over lunch at a particular time she replied "Sure, it's a date."

This sound like a solid idea to everyone? Mostly a joke but it could be a part of the plot for some stuff. Any other ideas on the "pop culture" aspects of Cape World? I know we discussed that a bit back when doing the Statesmen but not a lot beyond the elections. What is everyday media and celebrity and pop culture like in regards to superheros?

Two super major super teams- Canada's National team is based out of Toronto. Based on Canada's history of winning victories using really poor equipment, most of the members of this national team have mild-moderate tier powers(IE a guy with water breathing and fast swimming underwater, a girl with moderately above average reaction times and mild danger sense, and a man with above average endurance and stamina, who needs less food/water per day) who have been put through some of the most rigorous training possible, turning them into some of the best Commandos possible.

Quebec team as a result of the separatist movement. This team is noted for its insular nature and dislike of working with the canadian and even many other national teams, for any reason. Tends to believe in dealing with their own problems themselves, and very rarely leaves quebec for any reason.

Ah, and Spain likely has laws like Germany due to the whole "oppressed by Not-Franco until we overthrew him and his Superhuman Supremacists"

And Japan would have laws like Germany and Spain. You're known if you have super powers. No secret ID for you.
>>
>>47276673

The Quebec team would result in the seperatist movement losing steam early on, but picks up later on- probably the second vote doesn't happen until much later, but when it does, it's much closer, and only fails on a technicality. This makes everyone in the movement angry, and it gains even more popularity. At the time the games will take place(presumably around modern times) the FLQ has made a resurgence and rumours are abounding that a new vote is coming- and that the separatists are going to win this time.
>>
>>47276741

possibly this could lead to a face off between the Canadian supers team and the Quebec supers team as a result of the rising tension, obviously this is something any north eastern US or Canadian game could play with, especially as the vote approaches and tensions rise into riots and rogue supers, intent on showing their displeasure with the canadian government roaming out of Quebec to destroy public buildings.

>>47276663
It totally is but its also totally fun. Just say their lawyers spun it off on celebrity parody/political cartoon laws or just used good old fashion lawyer magic to make the charges vanish.

I bet it varies, like most things, with country. America has journalism like this everywhere. Germany wouldn't because Germany is big on protecting the legacy and image of their capes. England has a long history of their supers involving themselves in politics so their covers are probably even WORSE than America.

And Japan would be weird as fuck. Poor Meowing Midori. I can only imagine how they depict her in magazines being an actual catgirl.

>Canadian Werewolf Girl
A tough tomboy in a plaid lumberjack shirt that breaks trees with her fists and feet for fun, drinks hard whiskey, customizes rat rods in her spare time, and Happens to be rather on the short side because she's the runt of her litter. Now- on to the residential schools!

So- most residential schools would have run roughly the same- but only because there was a special residential school JUST for super-natives. And it ran longer- much longer. As we all know, the residential school started closing down around the 30s, and finished in 1996. This one closed in 2015. And it went so far that some kids came out basically brainwashed, many actually ended up having their powers basically removed because they couldn't be controlled, people suffering permanent physical and mental issues due to attempts to do the same(chemicals, acids, and physical treatments, plus stuff like electroshock therapy that activates when they use their powers, etc.). The Silent No More movement happened, and its primary success is getting this school finally closed. The school, which was based outside Toronto so the team could have quick access, was emptied very quickly and without much focus on getting the kids back to their parents. Many of these children, with no real idea where they came from, have made their way to Quebec.

Additionally, Canada is known to have brought a large proportion of currently known knowledge about super powers, including information on how to create and suppress them, to public knowledge, and they have some of the best gene therapy in the world. This is where that knowledge was gained.
>>
>>47276284
In regards to the starter question in my super-verse heroes are either trained by various governments/large organizations in return for providing services, have to work out how their powers work on their own, or (least likely) find/be found by a mentor.

Anyone ever worked with Savage Worlds Super Powers Companion? I need some help with challenging the players...

Onto something happier! PEI has two major supers- one with magnetic powers, and one who controls water. They work in concert, and guard the beaches. The magnetic hero uses both vehicles if he needs to, and the sand on the beaches, which can form an especially effective weapon. The water hero does exactly what you'd expect. They've been known to work closely with the national team, but since Canada doesn't do conscription and these two don't want to leave PEI, they aren't officially members. They would likely respond hostilely to any kind of invading force, however, due to strong national pride.

>>47276396

Thought up some more, feel free to steal/ignore/crit, etc.

-An entire extended Canadian family with a unique dominant genetic power: "Herbivore Physiology". They have steer-like horns, the men possess "manes" around their collars and everyone possess increased strength, durability and mildly heightened senses while at the expense of only being able to properly digest non-meat items (vegetables, milk, fruit, etc). They run a large series of family farms in BC.

-French child who possess "shapeshifting powers": they can shapeshift into people and animals, but in order to change back they need to shed their skin and essentially "crawl out of their own body". The power is extremely uncomfortable and energy consuming. They never use it, but they are in grade 5 and puberty is making things difficult for them.

-Japanese Man who has a unique deviation of a common physical mutation: He can breath a pressurized torrent of hot-steaming water. He can either engorge himself with water or make the water himself via "drooling" into his water-organ. He bottles and sells the heated water as fake hot-springs water and is generally a lazy man who lives in rural japan.

-Twin American boys who posses the power "Over-heat" & "Over-chill". A kind of "power-form" ability these two boys can increase their physical power, durability, senses, etc via respectfully dramatically increasing or lowering their body temperature. They can do it either through their environment or through their own unique metabolic abilities: The opposite tempature weakens them. The Heated twin wishes to play pro-soccer, the Cooled twin wishes to play pro-hockey; when they're together they stunt one another's power, but become very calm and relaxed.

Dude who was going "oh crap, promised to run game in six hours" here

Did some worldbuilding and character creation with three of the five, here's what I've got:

Power: Mid-tier (i.e. they have one good power or several linked powers)

Scale: National - events that affect part of or all of one country, possibly having to deal with world-threatening events in a limited way

Tone: Lighthearted attitude, mix of lighthearted and serious events (Think Flash TV show or Avengers movies - or Spider-Man from the new Captain America - these were all examples they listed)

Setting: Modern day, supers have been around to one degree or another for a while, supers are moderately common - perhaps one in a hundred thousand? Supers are just now really hitting hte limelight.

The three characters so far are:

A speedster chick who can also do some sneaking - possibly turning invisible if she runs fast enough

Immortal Man knockoff, has no powers other than coming back from the dead, will use guns and skills and contacts beyond that.

Third is a bit hard to pin down at the moment but he wants some sort of way to interact with machines and electricity, possibly moving on to nanite control or nervous system control as he levels up.

I got uno. I thought of doing this to sharpen my writing skills since they're dull. Comment for critic.
>Has mythic power of coincidence, a power he can't control.

>Name is Curtis Rammileignus ( thought about calling him Brussco because it sounded random but German tough guy name. Turned out Brusco means abrupt in Spanish so I though the super hero name would be Brusco Pionero due to the situations changing around him suddenly (I'm just doing the super hero name thing out of boredom of a lonely night).

>Neither is a hero or villain, just a human being that likes to do what he wants.

>His powers grant what he feels like sometimes not often (more of a luck thing in a coincidence way, not in control (just saying))

>Sometimes trouble or a mission for good or evil goes to him coincidentally.

>He uses conning to either solve problems or get out of trouble since his powers are a dick.

>He is your average guy. Fit but not buff. Doesn't know proper fighting so he is a brawler.

>He used to dress normally but due to his powers he got arrested for looking like the most wanted criminal three times in the same year so his clothing is all bizarre that way it won't happen again.

>One of his cousins is a villain who's main mythic power is curses, hexes, dark arts. Sometimes he curses Curtis for laughs, fight against him, or he needs his help (can be the other away around too). Does only evil if he that there isn't enough evil for weeks.

>Not a main person best for funny side quests

>Curtis lives like a middle man

Was about to add something meaty for him but it's too long for this post.

A quick note on UNITED FRONT. I think the "story" of UNITED FRONT should deal with them putting together the team and making them stick together. It should be about the struggles of unity, not them fighting bad guys.

Take that Yellow Emperor idea from last thread and present the team with more scenarios like that.

Tam Lin and his Janet was named as Ireland's rep last thread. Maybe his insistence on taking his sidekick and lover Janet with him causes controversy as Ireland technically gets "two" capes and Milo and Ankou have to hash it out.

I got an idea for many of the Pacific Ocean rep not actually being brown people. Like how in the last thread Micronesia's rep was a white spirit shark. The islanders themselves don't mind. They love their reps and they love that their little nations are getting attention. But western commentators and pundits decide to be offended for them and complain by the lack of "diversity" on the UNITED FRONT.

Good idea?
>>
>>47277120
Most of these are still pretty interesting. Keep it up!

>>47276673
So if I'm understanding this right, Canada's National Team is the lower leveled powers that use them with creativity and discipline to become formidable, correct?

And the Quebec team is part of the separatist movement. What are their powers like? Are they stronger or better equipped? Or they in an opposite situation where they have greater powers but can't use them as well?
>>
>>47277182
Glad to hear everything turned out alright.

That's a neat lineup. You definitely have some good stuff to work with.
>>
>>47277120
-a Japanese man with the power to turn into blob with that can grow multiple tentacles. sees his power as a massive blessing for his doujinshi business as he can write and draw multiple pages at the same time. gets very annoyed when magical girls assume he wants to rape him, he has a very loving relationship with his husband thank you.
>>
>>47277182
Sounds pretty good so far Anon. Watch the Speedster. Speedster are tricky. And the third sounds vague enough to give you real trouble.

I feel we're going to run out on steam on countries before too long. There just aren't that many interesting nations left. Even France got a little but of building last thread into the "adventure and exploration" country. And Rome/Greece is probably big on altering the human form with magic and super science. Think the Renaissance and classical obsessions with the perfect physical form.

I think what we should focus on later is creating little story ideas with the characters and having them interact. Take Deseret. Does she hang out with Reverend? How does hie respond to her enthusiasm? Did they ever fight Patmos together or did Reverend consider him too twisted of a threat for her to fight?

It'll be nice if we could make micro story "issues" for each character.
>>
>>47277047

I've run out of steam for a bit- I'll post some more in a few minutes. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Any areas that need improvement/expansion? Any ideas yourselves? The PEI thing occurred to me and my friend, but we're running a little low.

The one new idea we had- companies taking a heavy interest in and headhunting supers- mining companies headhunting digging/sonar supers for cheap and easy surveys, lumber companies hiring plant-control supers to help reforest behind themselves, etc.

While Canada's influence in wars is severely reduced by the civil unrest, many civilians with relevant power sets find themselves suddenly equiped and with enough money to go and help out. Unofficially of course.

>>47277212

I would say they have stronger powers, especially recently- between the residential school influx and the civil unrest leading to a significantly higher number of applicants, meaning they can choose stronger powers. But because they have stronger powers(which are thus harder to master) and because of their provincial nature and thus lack of proper military training(and, indeed, their outright disdain for the national training programs the national team goes through), they basically amount to slightly better trained and admittedly much better organized civilians. They outmatch the national team almost completely in terms of sheer power, but considering the training(especially with lethal weapons and weapons designed to defeat other, higher-tier supers), most people seriously appraising the prospects of a fight put it easily in the national team's favour. In terms of equipment- the national team has moderately good equipment, but the Quebec team has only what they themselves can provide, due to the government doing everything it can to try to keep them from BECOMING precisely that threat. The main issue arises in the sheer number of supers that will likely come to help the Quebec team.

>And Japan would have laws like Germany and Spain. You're known if you have super powers. No secret ID for you.
yeah no, while Japanese Superhero media doesn't use Secret Identity stuff anywhere near as much as American stuff, it's still present in some stuff, so that is a terrible idea

>>47276965
man why does Canada always end up being so damn grimdark in Superhero universes, same thing is a constant in Marvel as well
>>
>>47277394

this is just me taking actual historical stuff to a logical extreme. I mean, it's in the past- the point is to have the massive unrest and civil issues that result, because Canada DOES have civil issues constantly.
>>
>>47277418
yeah like it or not, we've done some messed up shit.
>>
>>47277394
It doesn't HAVE to get bad, though. Stories featuring Canadian superheros could have a focus on keeping things from getting dark; trying to keep the friction with the separatist movement from escalating to violence or any kind of civil war.

while some other countries, like america, are melting pots, canada is definitely a tapestry. a big bunch of cultuyres that al;l still have very strong cultural loyalties and roots. all trying to live together under the same roof.

we're a nice country but we have some troubles "at home" so to speak. he and i have been spitballing over skype. we're resigned to move awyay from government/national politics somewhat.

I mean hell- the residential school stuff is basically just EXACTLY what happened at residential schools. A lot of our contributions in terms of vaccines and stuff(and we've made a lot of those) come from residential schools, because we did that exact kind of fucked up shit. It's a known fact that rape and murder were an issue at those schools, and very rarely investigated. Honestly, writing this I really want to play in this setting now, and if I do, I'm tempted to play one of the school's "graduates" who learned how to lie and pretend he was a good boy. That'd be really fun.

Issues:
1) need to pick a system so that I can get characters built before the end of this week.

2) Why are supers just now becoming a thing?

3) I'm crap at starting games. Once people are into them and things are going I can do plot twists, cool villains, all that. But how the hell do I get the game started? At least in fantasy there's more of a generic framework.

we rally around beer, pot, hockey, and big fires. it isnt too hard to see super canada have happy times too.

the thing about superheroes, is that we're basically dealing with modern greek gods: humans, everything that is human about us, turned up to 11. good and bad.

honestly i want to see a setting in cape world where some super-group does something monumentally fucked up on a national scale, to someone.

I keep coming up with more.

-Old retired man living out in the middle of nowhere-bible-belt rural america. Possess the A-list power of being able to absorb & generate electricity and discharge via the palms of his hands/feet. Spent 40 years as a carpenter. Never used his power; just thought he was bad with electronics.

-Man who possess a physical mutation: Hammer Head. His head possesses a flat elongated crested "horn" that greatly resembles a ball peen hammer; he retains amazing physical durability, shock absorption and an ASTOUNDING spine as well as a mild desire to "head butt" things. Works at a convenience store- has been arrested for compulsively destroying public property.

-Black Girl who's a "Self-Destruct" woman: She can blow herself up. She physically though does not get blown up: she survives her own explosions via becoming encased in a cartoon-esque black, carbon, cocoon casing left behind after she explodes and later crawls out of. Bigger explosion, bigger casing. She's wants to be a seamstress and is trying to keep this under control as much as possible.

-Japanese boy who possess "Water Lily" Physiology: He can breath underwater and has a flowering lily-pad growing from his head. He can also clean and purify water via drinking it and spitting it back out again, but otherwise has no other powers. Is a very physically frail, meek, "pretty" boy who enjoys fishing; especially bass fishing, but doesn't really have any great aspirations.

Canada could have a Statesmen equivalent. The Statesmen really helped to show how diverse and unique the US can be, I think something like that could help here, too. Superhero representatives from each province?

As an in-lore explanation, this team was made as a response to growing unrest, after seeing how well the Statesmen worked out. Or maybe Canada had their representative team first, but increased funding and publicity when the need for some national unity was made apparent.

Would be a way to put in an overarching story in Canada on how to keep things from getting "so damn grimdark".

I wouldn't have suggested something that requires a lot of knowledge about Canada like this if it didn't look like we have some Candians in the thread in fear that we might fuck something up, but seeing that we do, would you guys be interested in this? I'd help however I could but with a limited knowledge on Canadian culture that wouldn't be enough to get this started myself.
>>
>>47277485
that why I made Canada in my own setting as sort of the grab bag for superhero types.
America has spandex and cape along with tacticool superheroes.
japan has kamen riders and magical girls
England has knights, adventurers and mages
Canada is one of the few places where you can find all of those and more in equal amounts, partly due to multiculturalism but also due to being the birthplace of superheroes in general.
it doesn't really have a super identity beyond popping out the odd badass due to this but most see it as a fair trade off.
>>

Even just listing who they like to interact on the Statesmen would be a huge step in making the world feel alive. Like I imagine DESERT likes Pele a lot because even though she claims to be a pagan goddess of volcanoes she wants the STATESMEN to be more proactive, and DESERET wants that as well. Someone like GHOST O JARONE would likely scare the hell out of her as she knows about the rumors of who is at the other end of his phone. HAUNTER would be like a creepy older sister. She has her eye on Deseret and won't tolerate her trying to act out from underneath the groups supervision because HAUNTER knows first hand what its like to be young and in over your head. She'll likely make friends with Virginia Daring and Fisher-Girl as they're all girls around the same age.

She likes hanging out with Reverend and thinks its really cool hes a hero that displays his religion proudly but hates that he keeps telling her to hold back.

Good ideas for the Mormon girl in suit?

I like this a lot. "The government causing the threat by trying its hardest to prevent that threat " is an interesting theme, and we haven't had a country do "on the brink of super civil war" in Cape World yet.

I'm surprised how dark America's hat is, but maybe that's the point? To show that Canada isn't all politeness and bacon?

>>47277483
Yeah. Canada is on the brink but the PCs can take it back from the brink...or push it over.

>Where some super-group does something monumentally fucked up on a national scale, to someone

There was speculation in one of the previous threads that Mordred wouldn't be a person but an event sprung on Arthur by Morgause, something to cause a moral failing like how Mordred in the stories caused him to pull a king Herod and kill innocent babies (no seriously).

we're just translating real world issues into the game world, it just... naturally turned out this way, honestly. As the guy who independently injected all the overt darkness and made the civil war so prominent, I can honestly say I didn't have any sweeping themes in mind, I just wanted to translate Canada's issues and historical inequalities and unrests into the gameworld so we could play around with it. This is all really fun to me, and the changes I've made, especially the Residential Super School have made me side with Quebec, which isn't something I expected, honestly, considering I hate le seperation and FLQ usually.

interesting ideas. i wouldn't do anything like official provincial supers, but from a conceptual level designing prominent supers from each broad region is a good idea. canada is too big and spread out to have a national identity summarized in a single team.

though to keep the quebec team prominent i would avoid having the provincially regionals be too political or regulated. maybe a few for the maritimes, a few for north canada (yukon, nunavut, nwt), the prairies, and then bc can have its own because they're a bunch of pot smoking art and culture types completely walled off from the cowboy badlands by mountains.

its especially tricky, being from Ontario, because Ontarians have a tendency to see Canada from a very Toronto-centric view.

I'm tempted to write up an international American based organization dedicated not only to finding jobs for these supers but the BEST POSSIBLE jobs for these supers.

I wonder how they'll get along with the SUPER BUILDERS mentioned in Kentucky Rain's write up?

...huh. Could this be the first non-violent rivalry between super beings over a non-life or death issue ever done in cape media?
>>
>>47277757

Very positive in general- except for in Quebec. Canada as a whole LOVES the UK, and the royal family in particular. Quebec on the other hand... well, historically the UK is the people they fought against. Not generally fans. Back in WWII most countries had high enlistment rates and voted strongly in favour of joining the war with the UK, Quebec voted strongly against it and had terrible enlistment rates. Arthur and his knights showing up would be a very Bad Thing that would raise the level of tension and start the fighting off early right quick.
>>

well if we're trying to find a story with Canada, we could go with something like trying to find light in darkness? working though the hate and anger to try and find a solution that befits both sides?

Okay one more set and I'll call it for now unless you guys find these helpful/interesting enough to ask for more:

-Man originally from Arizona who possess a "Solar Chest": a kind of crystallized organ in his heart/chest that absorbs solar energy. He uses it to live/feed himself, but could be theoretically weaponized to fire a kind of "care-bear-solar-flare/beam". He works at a solar-energy company.

-Young Man from Nova Scotia specifically whom possess a unique physical mutation: Weird, Gross, Thick and Fleshy pair of "Flipper-like wings" growing from his back and extended into a kite-like formation that end in a fat short tail. His NEWFIE humor allows him to take his power in stride and is very comfortable using his ability to clumsily fly AND swim with tremendous skill. Volunteers at a kennel.

-Woman who has an "inanimate item creation" ability, but the method is via laying eggs that contain these items: she can either spit them out of her mouth or lay them from her vagina. She keeps the items "small" for convenience and to retain her dignity. She is afraid of intimacy as she is afraid of what might happen if she becomes pregnant. Works at a salvation army.

How do you feel about this: The Progress Foundation is a north american charity/non-profit organization that assists "mundane/domestic" super people who wish to volunteer and assist in anyway they can to help the public.

My dad worked with a guy from the US who came up here for a week and literally tried to rent a skidoo before coming because he thought he'd need it.

In July.

I think it's fair to say a lot of Americans don't know a lot about Canada, and the ones who did would know enough not to try to embroil themselves in our politics. it doesn't have to be 100% unaware population for a few dumbasses to come and fuck shit up. But even then- that was talking about PCs coming in and not realizing just what the shitstorm they were walking into was.

So how do you guys handle serious situations? Like keeping a situation somber and realistic when you have a bunch of grown men and women gathered around in brightly colored costumes covered in symbols or animal themes and the like?

It's one thing I can never get over when I read comics, is a scene thats supposed to be depressing or somber, but you see a crowd of grown men and women, some even in there late years, all dressed in brightly colored spandex, looking depressed. It never bothers me in serious fights and such, but depressing and sad scenes just...they just look silly. Dont even get me started on funeral scenes where everyone shows up in costume.
>>
>>47278116
as a Canadian whose lived here all his life, I can tell you we barely know what's going on half the time either.

>>47278136
it's all about how they present themselves.
if they look like their taking it seriously then it is. though I do agree that they should have some sort of formal wear for funerals.
>>
>>47278136
the key thing for dealing with superheroes/other things traitionally thought of as "childrens things" and/or cartoonish or silly, is emotional sincerity.

the trick to a sad moment is to not try so hard to be SOOO sad. make the negative emotion rooted in thins that relate to the core characters. its not sad that a bunch of police got hurt or killed by a supervillain. its sad because the players worked with one of those bodies. police die, whatever. theyre extras to a certain extent.

jim gordon dies? hoever did that better run, because no hole is deep enough to hide in. because we know jim gordon. hes a good guy with an excellent moustache.

oh, and be fairly hard-line about not bringing bck the dead. magic/cosmic/regenerating charcters have a little bit of wiggle room if you must, but nothing broke somberness in comics more than THE big blue boyscout just coming back via asspull retcon.
>>
>>47278136
Huh.

I actually never thought of that.

I suppose you could just try to keep costumes from getting too silly. Try to keep the outfits "practical" I suppose? If yours is a campaign where "somber and realistic" situations happen often, then it shouldn't be too much of a stretch for you to insist that the costumes' ridiculousness be kept to a minimum.

Another way to go about that would be to have the costumes changed somehow. Somber situations being like someone dying after a battle, the other costumes could be worn out and torn and muddy and bloody from the fight. If you want to get pretentious with it you could even allow and embrace silly costumes so that you could make moments like have more symbolism; bright and silly costume gets messed up just as bright and silly superhero campaign gets dark.
>>
>>47278204
heh. just gave me an idea. sounds silly but, have a "serious" version of a costume. like, imagine a mourning version of supermans outfit. no undies, no cape, black around the s instead of yellow.
>>
>>47278257
>>47278204
ps: also just thought. have a separate ceremony. they go in suits to the puiblic ceremony for official purposes, but can hold a private memorial in some form of costume to honor someone in what is essentially battle gear.
>>
>>47278257
Team outfits depending on which school you go to. Otherwise a different uniform for every company that hires supers on. Obviously they ALL wont look alike, but someone who fights in a powered exoskeleton may paint it their school colors while the dude who turns invisable might have a gadget belt to help him even the field

What are their powers and their personality? Go from there
>>
>>47277996

Done with my little break and have thought up a few more, feel free to steal/critique/comment, etc:

-Man from Saskatchewan: born into a family of three sisters who all possessed the ability to emit a "sonic screech". His power however was inhaling and exhaling a very powerful gust of air. Literally "Huff and puff and I'll blow your house in" power: GREAT stability/durability and can hold his breath for almost an hour. Is a bartender; doesn't really use his power for anything, but exercises.

-Young boy from Germany: possess an "item creation" ability, but these items "seep" out of his head akin to the anime "Flcl". Going through puberty his power is on and off producing items through his dreams that leave him exhausted and hungry when he wakes up. Sometimes these items are so large they take an entire day to "pass" out of his mind. Goes to public school: is bullied immensely.

-Early 20's Girl who produces glowing white light from her entire body: she has no idea what her power is, only that she can make herself glow brighter and that her eyes are sensitive to natural light. Pressured by her parents to find a normal job, but secretly she still hopes her power could make her a "superhero" and practices her 'dumb power' every day.

-Man with a "Constrictor head" or otherwise impartial/submissive Constrictor Physiology: Only his head and neck are that of a boa snake. Perhaps at times more functional than just being a snake; his neck is horrendously muscular and he can eat and swallow things like how a snake would. Wears his neck coiled like a scarf and INTERESTINGLY enough grew up to be a catholic priest/pastor.

-Young Man who possess an "Asymmetric Power form": One of his arms bloats up massive and muscular like a hermit crab- bestowing him impressive strength, stamina and durability at the cost of looking deformed. Unexpected quirk: he can switch which arm is empowered when he's tired effectively doubling the time he can spend "powered up".

>What would you say are the "Big Three" supers games, and what do they do well?

I'd have to go with M&M, Wild Talents, and...maybe Marvel Heroic? I'm only really familiar with M&M, which is mostly known for being d20 without a lot of the baggage that system implies, and a versatile powers system that allows for pretty granular builds if you really want to get into it.

Note, too, that you could also do supers in most any generic system. I know GURPS can, Fate too, Risus, obviously...

>Wild Talents
>Bigger than HERO

Nigga I will cut you
>>
>>47278887
>>47278805
How different is MnM from HERO (Or GURPS) for that matter) anyways? They're all supposed to be a generic supers system, right?

Ignoring the fact that HERO and GURPS can do everything else obviously, just talking about how universal supers systems work
>>
>>47278887
Oh yeah, sorry. I forget about Champions. Usually willingly.

I didn't mention Faserip, either.
>>
>>47278904
Really, it comes down to underlying mechanics and which one you like the best. As I said, M&M uses a heavily modified version of d20. The benefit of that is if you've come from D&D/Pathfinder, there's a lot that's similar in the rolling and resolving.

My favorite thing about M&M is the Freedom City setting, though. Throughout all three editions, they've made a fairly unique (if full of homages) setting that feels like it could have come out of 75+ years of comic publishing.
>>
>>47276284
Oh hey, how come I never noticed this thread? As someone who double-browsed /co/ and /tg/ and participated in /co/ creation threads, this is awesome!

Oh yeah, here's some superhero ideas that I've baked up for /coc/, maybe you guys could use it as well.

-The Veil: harnessing the power of Textile Telekinesis, she can control any cloth that she has touched within a day. This meant things like handkerchief boomerangs that could aim at the mouth to muffle, Burqa 'clones', and turning her clothes bulletproof. Her power comes from being from a line of other textile telekinetics, who believe that their power comes from an ancient magical tapestry that was lost during the fall of the Library of Baghdad. Said tapestry was scattered, and the magical threads were used in several ancient cloths - which she intend to recover. Thus, she's become a textile thief, although to secure the last threads of her ancestors' magic tapestry.

Her alter ego could be like Catwoman, which is studying fashion at a local university.
>>
>>47278985
Is she actually, factually Muslim? We are into heroes from other countries at the moment. She could be our Indonesia rep.
>>
>>47277980
Because this only been going for a week at the most.
>>
>>47279013
Well yeah, but I initially envisioned her to be Middle Eastern.

Another superhero idea, which was kinda linked to several superheroes over at /coc/:

-Deadlift: originally a mindless 'organic forklift' on an alien smuggler's ship, when said ship had the bad luck of encountering space enforcers (basically space police) over earth and crashed into the Yucatan it became self-aware. After re-activating sometime during the Mayan Empire's heyday, it lurked the jungles of southern Mexico, studying humans. It had been known as a local cryptid, the Silver Guardian, until the 1960s when the Mexican government analyzed and took whatever left of the crashed alien spaceship. Its home gone, it now masqueraded as a Luchador (who never took off his mask, as he is undefeated) in rural Mexico, until the 1990s when it learned about the larger world of superheroes. He then took on the name Deadlift, and became the masked Lucha superhero of Mexico.

Now it's linked to at least two other /coc/ hero. The alien ship it's on was carrying a kind of symbiote that would land in a mesa in Arizona and bonded with a human, making Duet; while the reverse-engineered alien tech could very well end up in Colette's gauntlets.

I'd guess Deadlift would be fast friends with ExtraHuman.
>>
I hope you don't mind if I provide some of my own character ideas.
>Brave Spark- Zander Brave is a young man possessing a brand of electrical manipulation. At it's base, it gives Brave Spark the ability to produce powerful electrical shocks and manipulate electricity, but his power expands beyond just that. He is capable of producing, controlling and manipulating magnetic fields, even in seemingly impossible ways. He is also able to manipulate electrical-based sources (for lack of a better descriptor) for example, televisions and lights, he can manipulate the images on televisions and draw them out as solid constructs (though he cannot control what the images are doing, just pulling them out and making them solid) as well as doing the same with lights (so for example, turning a series of LED lights into trip wires across a hallway) and he is even able to meld parts of his body through electrical sources to travel to other, but only part ways. Living in a city of lights and electricity, Brave Spark has taken to the streets to fight the countless criminals gangs that have taken control of the city, because he has the power to do it.

>Alley Cat- A mysterious information broker, known only by her moniker and the robotic feline-themed helmet she wears. Her power allows her to take control of any kind of technology, though it's a very specific method. What she does is draws or paints a body, connected to whatever tech she wishes to command, and the tech will come to life along with the drawn body. Her usual method is to spray paint bird bodies around surveillance cameras, allowing them to move around the city, giving her countless eyes around the city. The bodies she gives the objects determine how it can move and act, but all the bodies share one trait, despite giving 'life' to the objects, they cannot move in a 3D environment, the body will always stay on the floor, or on the walls

Ages ago, Ink Burner terrorized humanity by destroying their ability to communicate and understand each other, reveling in the chaos he birthed, until the creation of the printed book. It's surprising, especially considering all the potentially-disastrous qualities inherit in other regions; Australia's walls between the worlds being weak, Africa's stronger walls creating a "survival of the fittest" situation among spirits while clustering other spirits just outside it's borders.

But really thinking about it, any civil war with superheros being in the limelight of the politics and military situation could ignite international repercussions with capes in politics and protests. Things could get especially nasty if Arthur gets involved.

Anyway, been working on a teleporter superhero for my own still in progress stting the past few days. Originally wanted to use her for my own But given her powers maybe you guys can use her too.

Jumper - The daughter of korean Immigrants, living in canada gained the ability to teleport across time, dimension and places in her own universe by jumping of a cliff and trying to take her own life. She is still not sure, what part of it caused her to develop her superpowers.

A few posts ago, I made the suggestion of an technomancer that gained his abilities during a thunderstorm and who is still trying to learn how to use them. He was an engineer for the royal canadian airforce. Another anon wanted to develop him for the United Front, but I don´t know if he is still here right now.

I've had a few ideas for "ancient evil" villains
>One that controls time, but not in the usual way it's shown in the media, he can manipulate the calendar, having no concern for days, weeks, months or years, seamlessly changing time around without the world being outwardly effected. He can even create a new day of the week, where he hides.
>A trio of ancient evils that awaken to end the world, each possessing a power based on their theme: Ruin=Causes objects he touches to lose their connections, causing everything to fall apart with a mere touch, even if there are screws or nails, they just slide out of the holes and can never be put back together, continuous touches causes objects to break down even further. Death=Transforms biological material into ash, and coming into contact with the ash will cause the contacted biomass to turn to ash as well, and so on and so forth. And Emotions=Induces fear, paranoia and despair at the maximum degree

Also a /coc/ antihero that's a bit on the street level.

Madam Danger is the descendant of the famous game hunter, Sir Bartleby Danger, who has decided to emulate her great-great-grandfather.
By hunting The Most Dangerous Game.
Since this is superhero-land, and normal humans are not the most dangerous game, she specializes in hunting and capturing the more beast-themed superheroes. In /coc/, this meant that she has crossed path with Chaptor, as well as one of Chaptor's villains, Anglorilla. She's also in the business of hunting elusive creatures as well. She still had some kind of honor, as she will let certain exciting game live on, so she can capture them again in the future. She's good at handling any kind of firearms and she knows some martial arts, but her preferred weapon is a modified elephant gun that was Sir Bartleby Danger's own gun that she inherited.

>where do your settings meta humans go to learn to control their powers and become the heroes of tomorrow?

So, I'm just sort of thinking about this, but how much sense does it make to "separate" and organize super-school children from one another based on the nature of their abilities?

Like, lets go with the situation that super-powers are a common mutation and with these mutations come trends: children who possess a unique physiology or physical mutation, children who possess some kind of "super form" or "power stance", children with some form of "kinsesis" (moving shit with their minds), telepathic children and finally matter-manipulating children.

Would it make sense to specifically divide them up so you could better cater to the needs of their abilities and so forth?
Or would it make more sense to lump them all together for the sake of empathy and to avoid them developing an anti-social sense of superiority or even fear over different people?

What do you think would be best?
I'm leaning towards a "mixed" curriculum: Everyone shares mundane studies ESPECIALLY ethics/social studies classes, but "power health" classes may be split up with specific teachers and so forth?

The Telepathy/psychic children get a psychic to teach them about their powers, The Weird bodied/mutant people get a weird bodied/mutant person, etc.. etc..

Spitballing ideas here:
The Canadian National Team is embroiled in an increasingly hot standoff with the Quebec team, and national tension is mounting.

However the "National Team," like many Canadian federal institutions, is based in Ontario, and shows an over representation of Eastern interests.

A semi-official Western team based in Vancouver stands separate from the National Team. Whereas the Quebec team is actively hostile, the Western team is for the most part content to let the East go about its business. When things get particularly hairy, WT begrudgingly calls in NT for assistance, and vice versa.

I think a neat potential member could be a hydrokinetic who has difficulty focusing his power. Day to day, his power is relatively weak. When stressed, his power increases, but his control over it decreases.

She sounds interesting. Probably thinks the Australian "Hunters Association" are a pack of psychos and teams with The Dingo on occasions.

Sense the Dingo is animal themed they probably met up when she tried to intercept and hunt him during one of his own hunts.

As for animal themed characters she can hunt...we got Meowing Midori and Bob Cat. I'd love to see her try to hunt Bob Cat. It could easily spiral into something like Elmer Fudd vs Bugs Bunny.

How "best themed" are we talking? Would she go after Deseret whose only real animal connection is her name? Or Blue Crab that uses a big sub-mech?

Speaking of /coc/ characters could we try to integrate some of them into Cape World?

>Magical Realm

When you think about it fetish to some extent has always been apart of Cape Comics. Phantom Girl. Power Girl. Catwoman. Tigra. Wolfsbane. She-Hulk. The typical super heroine is an attractive woman in a flamboyant gymnastics uniform.

A little fetish isn't necessarily a bad thing. We already have characters like Virginia Daring and Bob Cat. The trick is to make sure they're interesting characters behind the fetish.

Okay, just woke up, doing some reading through the pastebins, realized I should establish how Civilian heroes are dealt with. First of all, I think we definitely have a situation where superheroes can confidentially go to the doctor for questions about their powers or any kind of related thing- I'm picturing supers getting broken arms fixed and bullet holes stitched closed while still wearing their mask to protect their identity, things like that. On the other hand, I think there would be charges that could be brought against you for not trying to move a super fight out of the city, atleast nominally. This also means that if a hero asks a villain to take the fight elsewhere, and villain says no, then legally all the damage caused falls on the villain, not the hero, because the villain refused to leave. Canada is very hands-off with its heroes otherwise- unless they join the military voluntarily, at worst they'll be asked to do what are essentially propaganda pieces periodically where they appear in ads or "super heritage minutes" designed to help reinforce our national identity and make a region feel more important.

One interesting this is that, because of how Canada is spread out, a comparatively low number of heroes can cover a huge amount of ground, because most of the city centers are within a very small area- concentrated to the south. Because of this, many major cities have their own "mascot" Super who gets a payroll, not for stopping villains, but for appearing at public events and staying in and around the city- some of these supers are at risk of losing these deals if they try to intervene in larger scale issues outside their own city, though others are popular enough that they'll be able to just renegotiate when they get back with little more than a finger-waving from the municipal government.

Sort of want to try France or Italy next if only because I have working ideas for them (France being big on exploring due to their Jules Verne heritage and traditions of non-cape science fiction and fantasy comics. They're big super team is a group of explorers that venture into other universes. They're probably the ones to make contact with Earth-2 /coc/.

But that being said Holland could be very interesting in the right angle. Should we make them kind of the Albany of the world? The "not too much, not too little" country when it comes to cape craziness?

Now- some people have mentioned the idea of a western canadian team, and I think this should exist, but not as a government construct- I don't think the government would want to do that after the disaster that came from the Quebec team. Instead, this team is essentially civilian- with corporate sponsorships out the wazoo, much like western Canada in general. Not to the point of conflict of interest, of course, but some few of the supers do feel ingratiated enough by this funding that they will go out of their way to try to protect their sponsor's property- IE protecting pipelines and such, trying to steer fights away from corporate offices, etc. Again- not quite conflict of interest, but enough to make them a little invested in protecting the company. Prominant villains, especially in the prairies region, tend to be essentially super environmental terrorists and, in Calgary and other rodeo cities specially, super PETA. Beyond that just standard bank robbers/murderers galore.

There's a prominent native Super, whose powerset includes super-speed and minor precognition, who patrols the various isolated roads of the region, especially the highway of tears, hoping to stop the women who commonly disappear in the region, but unfortunately he can't be everywhere at once, so while his pre-cog does let him save some, he often arrives too late. If I were running in the region, I'd include at least one major supervillain who is using the highway of tears to collect test subjects for experimentation, but I think we should leave exactly who is doing this vague for the GM to come up with the rest.
>>
>Solid ideas for Africa, Canada, potentially France and Italy

JUMPER: Korean-Canadian suicide attempt awaken into cosmic teleportation potential. All three of the Canadian teams want her, and things get even more complicated when the Rainbow Serpent from Australia shows up to mentor her.

I imagine the cosmic-magic themed Rainbow Legion of Australia are a head ache for geopolitics. "You don't have any authority here!" "Ah child, but the Dreaming is beyond physical limits. I am both here and not here, so you see I violate no sovereignty. I am simply beyond the concept".

>>47281537
>Minor pre-cog with superspeed trying to stop a shadowy threat.

Super Speed with pre-cog sounds like one hell of an awesome power set. You're basically Mid Nighter plus Quicksilver. We need to do something with him and whoever (whatever) is killing people on the highway of tears.

Maybe its less that there is a person and more that the highway of tears is alive or haunted? The poor guy is fighting against less of a person and more of a force?

Any good names for this guy? So far I just got HIGHWAY MAN, but that's super lame.
>>
>>47281393
So, Jumper gets constantly invites to the canadian teams and then teleports off to australia with or without the team and meets the serpent?
>>
>>47281587
Basically. Given how her powers work they might not even realize she's seeing him on the side.
>>
>>47281582

Honestly Highway Man might be a great name for him, just because he isn't the sort of guy who wants publicity- in my current image of him, he doesn't even really have a costume- he just has a jogging suit and a mask to hide his identity. He didn't name himself because he didn't think he was important, so it was left for the newspapers to name him. And really, would anyone object to the papers giving someone a shitty name? That just sounds right to me.

As far as the Highway of Tears, I think he should have one major villain that uses the roads, but what if the roads had a kind of psychic pull that draws in people who want to kidnap/murder women from huge distances away? So he isn't necessarily fighting a single "bigger" thing, but little issues will constantly be cropping up and his job will never be done. Obviously noone is aware of this, otherwise noone would drive this road.

>>47281582
>Alan Hawks
The uneasily united Canada is fairly supportive of the UN, but also fairly skeptical, so they sent the team a special cape to see if they really could really live up to their promise of taking a diverse pool of talents and turn them into something cohesive and useful. This is Canada's "test" for the UNITED FRONT.

A young engineer with the royal Canadian airforce named Alan Hawks was on base during the testing of HD fighters based on fighters developed in the Hyper Dimensional colonies when a glitch in the Dimensional coupling mechanism caused a freak thunderstorm that knocked the fighters out of the sky and onto his head.

But Alan survived, and emerged with strange powers....

Alan can talk to machines. Which shouldn't be possible because machines can't talk. He can also command them to move and change. He can form himself armor out of a truck or a mech suit out of a jet. Which shouldn't be possible because machines don't just animate themselves like that.

Alan is a headache and a half for Canadian scientists. Complicating the matter is that Alan is still learning to control his powers. Sometimes he has a of control. Sometimes he doesn't. Sometimes the machines listen to him, sometimes they don't.

The truth is while Canada's 3 team factions want him for his power very badly and the powers that be see THE UNITED FRONT as both a way to find out how his powers work and a way to stop the teams for squabbling over who will "get" him.

Alan is young and enthusiastic. He's happy to be on the team and wants to make his country and teammates proud. The older, gruffer Russian member ICE BREAKER and he have developed something of an older brother younger brother relationship. He looks up to Meowing Midori and Drussenmann as established heroes in their own countries. Johnny A Lantern tries to be friends with. Alan tries to be friends with everyone. But Johnny sees him as a naive loser.
>>
>>47281772

The teams would not squabble over him, but otherwise, works pretty well. He seems to be english based on name, so he's not Quebec team material, and even if he was from the west coast those guys are self-centered enough I can't imagine them really WANTING someone new on the team due to power level- I'd expect their team mostly tries to recruit people they already know well, rather than high-power characters. Crony-ism to the max.

I was thinking about making the United Front hero native american for the political side of things, though. Canada only just shut down the Super Residential Schools, and other major countries(especially germany) are probably really cross about that, so putting a native forward as our representatives would be a good way of trying to alleviate that tension. Thoughts?
>>
>>47281772
What scientists THINK Alan does power wise is produce an accurate image of the machine his powers are working on in his mind with his knowledge of mechanics that links to thought-forms of mechanistic order and industrial dynamism in Mental Earth. He then subconsciously combines the thought-forms with the target and then controls the results gestalt. The theory would explain why his creations fall to pieces when he doesn't focus on them, but the theory hasn't been tested yet.

Alan provides the raw muscle the team needs. He's extremely powerful in today's technological world, and can convert any piece of technology into workable armor...assuming his powers are working right today.

His adopted code name is SUNDOWN FIVE. Its a strange name, but its the name of the HD Fighter that crashed into him.
>>
>>47281619

Decided to invest in a hope spot to make Canada less unrelentingly dark

The Headmaster
A former low tier superhero, The Headmaster retired after about fifteen years upon the closing of the Super Residential School, and immediately travelled to the school and gathered all the younger students who didn't know where to go under his banner- and then brought them right back inside the school, this time as proper students, not glorified test subjects. He's spent the time since teaching these students, and especially drilling them on right and wrong. Initially, the government tried to evict him, but following threats to take his charges to Quebec where they would undoubtedly receive the help they desperately needed, the government quietly handed him the deed. Since then the school has run primarily on donations, with the government quietly picking up the slack if the donations run low one month. The initial outpouring of support, and with the aid of cheap labour from buth super and mundane carpenters, engineers, and electritions allowed the school to be retrofitted to serve as a real school in no time, and is now accepting applications from regular parents who don't know how to handle their super child.

The Headmaster is a former graduate who kept his head down and did everything in his power to keep his classmates safe while he was in the school, and his presence has brought a few of his former peers out of the woodwork to help out. The school contains about a hundred students between the ages of six and thirteen, most of the older students having made their way to Quebec or scattered before he got there, with a staff of twenty supers working full time, doing whatever they can to help, be it cleaning, cooking, teaching, or just keeping nosy reporters and photographers away from the gunshy students.

Thanks man.

>Native American hero.

Interesting idea, but the United Front just takes one guy from one country and I just wrote the guy up.

That being said...the "story theme" of the United Front is all about the struggle in forming the team from political to personal issues. One story idea was Ireland's Tam Lin only agreeing to join up if his sidekick and waifu could come as well.

Maybe if they loopholed his waifu in Canada would try to push through a Native American?

>Highway Man

George Rupert is a simple salt of the earth type. When his super speed powers first manifested he declined joining a team and instead used his speed to help out around his community. He even did a tour with the international SUPER BUILDERS where he was taught how to assemble a functional house in minutes.

Then the dreams started.

He sees something horrible happen to someone somewhere on the infamous Highway of Tears. Those were his dreams. And at first he dismissed these dreams as just dreams, but then the news reports started...

He donned a simple mask and track suit and promised himself that he wouldn't let more of his dreams become reality. He became the protector of travelers up and down the Highway of Tears, fighting off and capturing several super-psychos that seem to want to make the Highway their territory.

He's beginning to suspect that there's more than opportunity attracting super powered serial killer to the Highway and is considering getting the opinion and help of someone more trained in extra-physical phenomena (maybe that werewolf girl mentioned earlier?)

He swears -something- is developing on the Highway. His dreams are becoming more vivid, more real. Its almost a if they're heralding something. Can Highway Man convince Canada's teams to work together to break the evil of the Highway of Tears?
>>
>>47282175
He cares little for honors or pageantry. His name is simply what the newspaper called him. His costume came out of his closet at home. George is also remarkable powerful for an "unaligned" Canadian Cape (but then again the three "unaligned" capes written up so far have been powerful...). He's naturally a speedster, but ever sense his visions started he's developed the ability to quickly see danger a few seconds ahead.

He knows whats about to immediately happen and is fast enough to do something about it.

His dreams give him little to work on, and even for a speedster the Highway is a large place. I'm thinking he might start to recruit other "unaligned" Canadian Capes to form some sort of "highway patrol". JUMPER could be a member.

>>47282041
I like the idea. Maybe they're the opposite of something like Japan's schools that focus on training the top of the to capes? The Headmaster's school focuses on helping cape kids with problems.

They're also big on making sure this coexistence is carried out on their terms.

They like the UN and UN like organizations...when they play by US rules. They want to be an involved player, but they aren't willing to risk any big time super on a project where they won't have much direct control like THE UNITED FRONT. It also looks like a geopolitical cluster fuck waiting to happen, and they don't want to bet too much on what looks like a dumpster fire in the making. >low level heroes

They might actually have a pretty badass team given their influence in several countries. They take a member from Mexico, from Brazil, from all over the Catholic World.

They already have a man of the clothe on the STATESMEN in the form of Reverend.

They're probably surprisingly influential in the grand scheme of things. And you KNOW spiritual Earth is going to be generating angels and such. The Vatican will probably call them angels, even the ones that look and act like Jesus. Spiritual beings from the Christian mythos are "made in the image of God" but are not actually god.

As with a lot of Catholic things there's probably a lot of debate, and a small minority that see the angels of Spiritual Earth as walking blasphemy. They probably funnel money and resources to the Reverend's arch foe PATMOS hoping to score his skills as an assassin even if they don't agree with his theology.

That would be an interesting story. Reverend has to protect a Spiritual Being calling himself the archangel Michael from assassination by Patmos. Things get even more complicated when DESERET shows up to assist.

South Korea, for whatever reason, never developed super powers. Supers are simply never born there, and they've been actively working with countries like Canada and Germany to try to figure out a solution, but in the meantime they've been hiring international heroes to fight the super villains who show up to take advantage of the situation, as well as to counteract North Korean attempts to intimidate them with their own supers, who are largely unimpressive but still enough to pose a threat to South Korea, even once you've seen through the propoganda. North Korea claims their glorious leader is super powerful, but most agree this is false.

>>47282551

The Vatican explicitly tries not to have a military presence. I can see those guys visiting occasionally for major events, but they would never be based out of it. They would probably have some sponsored super-builders and such, though. Super influential, but not super strong from a military action.

Well its a tricky thing. Are a bunch of supers having mass together a "military presence?" I imagine it'll be one of those controversial things.

>South Korea and North Korea

North Korea will be...tricky to put into Cape World. Either they're have to be a lot softer in their policies-more like Russia and China where their human rights record isn't excellent but they're capable of compromising and working with the international community avoid being invaded by capes-or they have SOMETHING that'll prevent supers, particularly Arthur and his knights, from steam rolling the fuck out of them.

Jumper - The Daughter of korean immigrants living in canada, Yeong Lee decided to kill herself and jump off a building after fighting with depression all her life, but instead of dying she teleported herself across capeworld, sometimes time travelling and ending up in other dimensions.

Somehow finding her way back to capeworld she caught the attention of the canadian superhero teams, who attempted to get her to join one of the teams for her talents. Not wanting to do so, she tried to start a solo career under the alias Jumper, until one day Highway Man approached her for help on the highway of tears.

Cape South Korea probably has a good relationship to Spain. They probably buy a lot of their Matador suits and super weapons from them to kit up people into heroes.

They're probably all military capes in Korea. Not because they're martial, but because you'd want to give the expensive imports from Spain to people that know what they're doing.

>>47282751
It fits with the Arthurian stories. Arthur was an empire builder. He delivered the smack down on neighboring rulers that did evil shit and incorporated them into his Christian empire.

South Korea probably has a lot more diaspora in Cape World than in real life, people from super families hoping that be going out of the country for awhile they can develop powers.

I gotta go against the grain on this reservation school thing. Having some secret state-sponsored native-child-kidnap-and-molest-program well into 2015 is way beyond the point of ridiculous. The bad kind of ridiculous. I say it gets revealed and shut down in the '80s, so it's still plausible as a sore point in native and international relations without being way over the top grimdark.

ideally we wanted north korea to have powers, but mostly have the kind of thing that would be laughable in normal comics. think the guy from xmen 3 who grew quills.

the idea of people going [or being sent] out to other countries to try to develop powers is neat, but in base setting should fail SO FAR. we wanted South Korea to be dependant on hired help and tech.
>>
>>47283694
the real residential schools weren't totally shut down until 1996. one school that holds all the disenfranchised natives' superpowered children could conceivably be kept open much longer. hell, justify it as "these people suffer from unsafe mutations and need to be quarantined" (pretending they didn't deliberately CAUSE such mutations)

the schools weren't that long ago. still super raw for a sizable chunk of canada. we just turned that up a bit; like superpowers do for other cultural issues (see the germany pastebin).

Vomit pass at fleshing out the Western Canadian team, under the provisional name "Western Shield" (I imagine the national team could be called the Canadian Shield, after the geographic region?)
>Paragon
A middle aged man and veteran of decades of fighting crime, Paragon's power is that of supernatural inspiration: by coordinating and encouraging his team mates, he can enhance their powers in both magnitude and range of effect. Despite a lack of personal combat powers, he still leads from the front, using boldness and years of experience. His costume is a Captain America-esque bodysuit, bulked up with armour plates and painted cream and gold. His mask takes the form of an unadorned half-helm, with the Western Shield emblem on the forehead. He was a police offer in the Okanogan before he gained his powers, an event which he is uncharacteristically cagey about.

>Cascade
The newest member of the Western Shield, Cascade is a mere lad of 17 who gained his powers after nearly drowning in a boating accident that killed his parents. He is a powerful hydrokinetic, but due to feeling guilty for causing the accident which killed his parents, is unable to access his true power level unless pushed to the emotional breaking point. In the day to day, he is limited to Avatar style water whips and minor manipulation. His costume is blue and gold, reminiscent of a wetsuit, mask a full face hood. Ironically, he is afraid of deep water and doesn't like to swim.
>>
>>47283841
>Spirit Princess (can't think of a good name)
She's a Coast Salish woman in her mid twenties, and a survivor of the super residential schools. Since birth, she has been able to communicate with her ancestors, who offer her advice and lend her an assortment of powers for brief periods. Spirit Princess is not particularly observant of the traditional ways, and would rather be a member of "normal Canadian society" than some "primitive outdated nonsense." Obviously this does not sit well with the ancestors, who often leave her high and dry in order to teach her lessons in humility. Her costume is a sleek and stylish affair, done up in slate grey with gold trim. Her mask covers her eyes and bridge of her nose, allowing her hair to flow freely.

What does /co/lette do?

Blue Cobalt is basically Superman without a weakness or extraneous powers. She can't do anything fancy like x-ray vision or true flight or spinning at SUPER super speed, but all the strength and invulnerability and ability to leap tall buildings in a single bound are there. Just how strong is she? In the pastebin her Strength is listed as only 4, but all the Generals seem to have lower levels. Am I reading the stats wrong or are these their stats when they first start out before any adventures or training?
>>
>>47284114
They were randomly generated along with the others, so her stats are probably listed before she got XP working the teh generals.

What ARE /co/lette's powers and skills? I'm in the dark on that as well. I don't know much about /coc/ supers.

Regardless of powers I'd love to see the two wrestle.

>Superheros with corporate interest
There's a lot of potential with that idea, especially if you really play up the difficulties in keeping western Canada safe. You could make it so that western Canadian superheroes rely on corporate help to keep any area larger than their own home town safe.

Doesn't necessarily have to be 100% gritty, Shadowrun-y, though. While I think it would be a waste of potential story is some of the companies weren't at least a little "soulless corporation exploiting heroes", you could have other ones less focused on making a profit and more focused on studying heroes or advancing science. While I don't think he was ever indebted to them, Superman helped out scientific companies a lot, Leo Quintum from All Star Superman comes to mind.

>what
Edspear was on a movie date.

So if I'm following correctly Quebec team would be the hardliners that like to work on their own. Western team would be mostly corporate supported and Eastern team would be mostly government supported?

And then you have outliers like Highway Man's Highway Patrol and Headmaster's school.

>This idea came to me, after hearing about gwenpool.

Sarah Mackenzie was a teenage girl creating halloween costumes for fun and profit, until one of her costumes was used for crime. Resolving to catch the perpetrator herself, she made herself an ghost costume and went to work. However having no prior experience crime fighting (she had only been participating an an gymnastics club for an limited amount of time), Sarah was killed on the dorsteps of the criminals latest victim.

The"victim", a powerfull mystic made the criminal retreat and attempted to revive Sarah, who returned to the world of the living with ability to turn herself into an ghost. The mystic helped Sarah get the hang on her abilities and the young Girl began to fight crime as the masked superheroine Ghost Girl.

Could the superspeed and the pre-cognition be two separate powers from two separate sources? Maybe some entity on the Mental or Spiritual Canada finally got sick of the Highway of Tears' psychic bullshit, or sensing that things were about to get worse, looked for someone who could help and decided on the humble superspeed guy?

If we're really pushing for a native Canadian hero, I don't suppose the werewolf girl could fill that role? Do you guys have native legends on werewolves and skinwalkers up there? That could tie into her origin and stuff.

I want to start punching up character and location descriptions. What all should be in a heroes' profile?

So far I got

Origin

Powers (including how they use them to fight. It doesn't help the GM at all if its just "throws fireballs")

Personality

Relationships (how they get along with teammates and whatnot)

Backstory: What the character has done. Thing it is as a collection of "issue' summaries.

Direction: Ways the GM can use and develop the character.

Impact: Big one for Capeworld's overall theme. What the character does to change and improve the world.

Would these seven elements make a good write-up for a character?

I'm really serious about making this into a pdf book. I think it'll be a fun project, and I have some free time coming up in a week or two to really grit down and develop it.

So just to summarize.

South Korea has no superhumen of it´s own and hires heroes from other countries such as spain and germany to help research the cause and to gain protection against the villains trying to abuse that. North Korea was once invaded by king arthur and a few of his men to make sure if they hadn´t stole a spanish battlesuit that was supposed to go to south korea. The only man in north korea that has super powers is the dear leader, who has everything except size change and shape shifting.

South Korea tries to have koreans that develop superpowers outside the country to return. And if they´re dead, an obduction.

Canada has a school, whose headmaster is proud of his graduating students, regardless if they become heroes or villains.

Highway Man, a speedster with precognition (dreams/visions) that protects the highway of tears. Three superhero teams: West, East and Quebec and a member on the United Front, G8 - Sunset Five, a young technomancer.

Jumper, a korean-canadian cosmic teleporter with maybe this to the rainbow serpent.

I've been thinking that we really haven't detailed the Generals very much, and there's some stuff that should be addressed. We have done a lot with what I guess is the modern or latter years, with the newest member Trinity, Chase's daughter, joining the team. But is she really the newest or just the youngest? In the greentexts and stories about her origin and how she joined the team, Psinobe and Blue Cobalt aren't really mentioned. Did they only join later?

And there's a lot of age differences,

>The Baron doesn't fuss about his age, but he has notable facial hair.
>Doc Chase is probably early-to-mid 40s.
>Threesome is a fresh-faced 14-year-old.
>Blue Cobalt has alien years, but she physically appears in her early-mid 30s.
>Psinobi is in her early 20s, since she's a grad student.
from https://desustorage.org/tg/thread/47093356/#q47095050

by the time the Generals takes off could be interpreted in meaning that they did some stuff on their own before joining up.

Maybe Baron and Chase actually were old friends who new each other long before the Generals. Based on their interactions that even makes sense.

Blue Cobalt seems to have the most done in her origin story, and the story that gives her the most opportunity to superhero on her own before joining the Generals.
https://desustorage.org/tg/thread/47093356/#q47094755

If her thing after joining Generals is experienced, calm, confident and level-headed I'm thinking before Generals could show her getting to that point. Maybe she was always just a calm person by nature, but the experience she got was by her years superhero-ing alone looking for acceptance in the world.

That's another thing I want to talk about. Her motivation is to be accepted, right? But there are plenty of weirder heroes out there than her, and "worry over what other people think about her" doesn't seem like the motivation of someone defined by their experience and calm level-head.
>>
File: blue cobalt.png (110 KB, 643x1008)
110 KB
110 KB PNG
>>47286830
I'm thinking her strive for acceptance be confined to her earlier years. Superhero-ing solo in the 90's or early 2000's as a teenager or young adult, before other the Mental and Spiritual Earths were fully understood and there wasn't regular alien contact and there was just generally more confusion and less order to superheroes relationship to the rest of the world. In a time like that, a very strong blue woman being faced with prejudice makes more sense than in today's sophisticated age of imaginary friends who throw people and Japanese bug heroes and inter-dimensional potato robots.

I'm thinking young Blue Cobalt be a bit like the early 2011 Action Comics Superman. Strange superpowered visitor from another world trying to find a place for herself, wears an outfit relatively casual; like jeans over a leotard, which we already have pics of. We've already established that she is going to be a good, experienced hero so her early years have no mystery and are just showing how she came to be, growing in power and experience and fancier costumes.

Maybe make her, along with less experienced, less calm and more violent and rebellious. Nowhere near antihero or gritty levels, just not willing to face the police of a society that is prejudiced against aliens.

About her powers, I think that we could play off of her low beginning stats and the talk in an earlier thread to focus on progression of power rather than just sticking a label on something and giving it to a character, by having her strength grow proportionately to a human's. When first landing on Earth as a kid-how old would she be? The post I linked to only says "a bit older than Superman"-her stats are what is on the pastebin. Strength and stamina at 4, just short of "truly exceptional". To get from that to the powerhouse we have been assuming she is today, her strength could grow in proportion to how a human girl's strength grows from growing older and from working out.
>>
>>47286855
That's why Blue Cobalt has such pronounced muscles instead of most superstrength characters who just "are" strong, regardless of physical presence. Her physical ability grows not just from getting older like Superman, but by working at it. A Blue Cobalt who works out will beat another adult Blue Cobalt who only has their species' natural strength every time.

Another interesting thing about the stats is that her fighting is at 6. If that is the case when she is just a kid, could her species be some warrior race bred for fighting? The naturally high fighting stat is because fighting is like an instinct, or taught from a young age?

I've been assuming that "before joining the Generals team" means that she worked alone, but I suppose that doesn't have to be the case. She could be a part of another team or have a sidekick or BE a sidekick. Or maybe just forget about it and have her sign onto the Generals the moment she hits Earth.

I don't mean to take control of this character, and I didn't mean for this post to be so long. Please don't read this as one person making Blue Cobalt their own and writing up a complete story and characterization for her all on their own. We have a lot of holes in the Generals that need filling and I've just got a lot of ideas to throw out there. I want and expect the rest of you to critique or destroy or add on to all this. Don't let me take over any character completely, I really don't mean to.

Reading through past threads for more info on Blue Cobalt I find that there hasn't been any shipping or lewds about her with any male character, but there has been a LOT of pushing in past threads on her relationship with other female characters like Psinobi and Ms. Majesty. Some of it jokingly I'm sure but it's still something to think about. I think that would be nice.
>>
>>47286830
>Threesome is a fresh-faced 14-year-old.
She's somewhere between 14-17.
>>
>>47286855
>Strength and stamina at 4, just short of "truly exceptional".
Keep in mind that in M&M 3e, a score of 0 is "average human." Having a strength of 4 by itself is a big deal.
>>
>>47287120
I was going off of this http://www.d20herosrd.com/ which says
>A rank of 0 is unremarkable or average, applying no modifier. Rank 2 is pretty well above average. A 5 is truly exceptional, while a 7 is about the most that can be expected from a “normal” human being.
>>
>>47287120
>>47287165
That's why, even though Blue Cobalt has a core Strength of 4, she has
>Super-Strength: Enhanced Strength 8; Power-lifting 4
as a power.
>>
>>47287190
Oh, must not have read that, sorry.

Still,
>Strength and stamina grow from exercise
>Grow in proportion to human strength and stamina increase from exercise

Are these good ideas? Does anyone else like this?
>>
>>47287227
I don't mind images of Blue Cobalt working out in a gym, but I'm still of the opinion that she's innately strong.
>>
>>47287306
Well, even The Thing and She-Hulk work out with super-equipment.
>>
>>47287306
Of course, I never meant to take innate strength away. It's already been established and I think we can all agree on her naturally possessing superstrength.

Just meant that she can grow even stronger from working at it. Hell, maybe even a bit of a training arc. Or maybe that's part of what led her to the Generals; when lifting trucks and suplexing trains stopped being enough to push her limits she came to Baron for some super-dense mystic magic material to start lifting or to use some DBZ gravity chamber invented by Dr. Chase. Really just thinking of an in-lore reason for why she has pronounced muscles when so many characters of similar strength don't, while working in some "progression of power".

I didn't even consider images of Blue Cobalt working out, though. That might be nice to see.

Zeus did do an awful lot of fucking. Maybe they could be like mutants where the powers skip a few generations and then manifest one day when a kid hits puberty?

Magical mutants is what I'm getting at.

King Midas escaped from Hades. Turns out he really never learned anything.
>>
>>47289612
That does actually sound pretty great.

But what did they buy and why?
I'm thinking that learning of the existence of other gods triggered their vanity and jealousy, leading to the tragedy of Greece just as it has many times in legend.

They tried to build the biggest and best palaces and temples to honor their greatness, and even sponsored the arts bringing in all the greatest artists and architects and poets. They see themselves as the principle inspiration for all art and beauty and want to show the world how great they are and how great they can make the world and how absolute shit-tier and not worth worshipping all other gods are. They quickly bankrupt the country with ambitious projects and either stick around trying to save this sinking ship, deny that anything is wrong, are kicked out of the government by their people, particularly superpowered Greeks in a continuation of the Greek myth cycle of one generation of gods overthrowing the last, or, like you said, they just fucked off and left their country to rot.

This leads the setting of Greece to be just a little Dark Souls. Poverty and possibly damage from a war against the gods make some places crowded, rotting towns full of cold and poor masses, other places are absolutely beautiful pieces of nature like valleys and forests and shit but no one goes there because all the mythological beasts the gods hoarded to show how creative they are shoving additional heads onto a dragon are now loose and make those regions their home. And there are plenty of palaces and castles and keeps straight out of a fantasy game, colossal in size and grandeur, that are now abandoned by the gods that lived there and are empty save for more monsters or converted into cities for the people to live it.

The whole region has the feel of a wonder-filled paradise where gods walked with man, but is now desolate and abandoned and fallen.

This sound good?

Doc Chase I feel like he started 'heroing' in his twenties. He liked to be a hands on person for his contraptions so he started globe trotting to test them. Harpy was probably originally colleague who begrudgingly went along with his adventures.Chase probably bumped into the Baron when he doing some magic stuff and he wanted to research Baron extensively.

Be sure to have some light in the darkness. A small town protected by the surrounding dryads and the nymphs of the river that runs through it. The ostentatious god-castle converted into a lively community (I'm thinking like something from Cape Oceania. Island village made out of a super villain's skull fortress). A town that's made local pet and guardian of its local Hydra. The Nemean Lion and her brood of catgirls and catboys as protectors of a community.

>>47291395

ah yes, because everyone knows cult-of-personality types fair really poorly when they suddenly have an actually valid excuse to pretend they're better than everyone else. I definitely wanted to remove any kind of major villain group from this setting, too, because it's "awkward" to have a major villain group in the setting! If it doesn't make sense for North Korea to still be around, then any other evil group makes similarly little sense, at which point we're running just a giant fucking clusterfuck of nothing but random unaffiliated villains and things get significantly more boring with a lack of overarching villains and such.
>>
>>47291623

I actually just thought of a way to make the idea of no north Korea interesting, lots of Koreans, especially following the fall of North Korea, see the over-reaction from the US and other foreign powers as a bad thing for various reasons, including things like napalm, which killed a LOT of civilians, and this fractured view causes the newly-whole Korea to start to fracture again, but instead of splitting cleanly into two "good" and "evil" parts, it shatters into dozens of city-states, each claiming to be the true Korea, none of which are explicitly "evil", but all of which hate the others, even where they have alliances. This turns the Korean region into what is effectively a constant warzone, interupted only by periods of uneasy peace. Bam, we made something interesting in the region that makes up for removing North Korea. You can't just take something so interesting and useful to DMs out of the world and not replace it with something else, equally rife for adventures.
>>
>>47291371
There was a korean movie I saw called the host. Basically a mutant monster wreaks havoc on the city in its water ways, that was caused by some american doctor dude going "Just pour the chemicals down the sink" and the resulting paranoia and panic that accompanies a possible outbreak of infectious disease (fake) and a countermeasure against the monster called Agent Yellow.

There was a faint anti-american sentiment in the film. Stemming mostly from its inspiration from an actual event in which US military dumped a buttload of formaldehyde in the river. More criticizing "american foreign policy and how it relates to korea". but there was also a lot of just "Government is useless and lies to its people" themes as well.

Because of this I can see Korea being kind of, very governmentalized and regulated, much akin to Germany, but less out of a sense of shame about the past (German superhumans have roots in shameful nazi super science), but more out of "These people are dangerous!"

That said the only other Korean movies I've seen were Old Boy, and Snowpiercer (which only sorta counts i feel.)

The problem is that the giant enemy groups that everyone hates are clandestine and powerful. HECTONCHIRES, the closest thing to a Hydra analog, is a secret terrorist society. Cape World doesn't have a Latveria or a Genosha. There's no country of evil.

Russia and China have shit metahuman rights records but they aren't so bad as to justify war with them. They're willing to talk and negotiate politically. North Korea doesn't do that.

The only way something like North Korea works is if they're somewhere so ridiculously powerful that all the good guy capes in the world can't risk fighting them without causing massive damage.
>>

I think you guys are looking at this all the wrong way. Supers aren't soldiers. Especially powerful supers, like, superman scale supers, might as well be a nuke. A super-cold war would work really well, honestly.
>>
>>47292046
this. loathe as i am to recommend anything related to Frank Miller, The Dark Knight Returns got this really right. Reagan sent in Big Blue to settle a military scuffle in a smaller nation (basically a proxy war in someone else's country, not unlike Korea).

The US won, but Superman being involved was enough top provoke a nuke out of the Russians. How would China react to the US bringing in the big guns. I mean we're talking a conflict escalation where THE GENETIC POWER OF THE NATIONS' PEOPLE is on direct display.
>>
>>47291792
...This might work. But Greece/Africa/The Feudal part of Eastern Europe are already sort of like that. Many small countries at an uneasy peace with each other.
>>
>>47292158

and also, if we assume the power distribution is roughly even between any given populace(and, removing things like the proposed south korean lack of supers and whatever is going on in Africa, this seems to be the case), then China and India should be the world powers, really.

Actually, that'd be interesting- China V India in a superhero cold war.

As the guy who wrote that stuff- it's already been shared, in large part, if only recently. You can't exactly get away with admitting to having experimented on supers to learn how to induce and remove powers and not share that information when you're on such a backfoot politically.

Actually, while we're on the topic- which countries have the biggest problem with Canada right now? I'm thinking Germany and the German people are fucking livid, but who else?
>>

>China and India should be world powers

I think the name of the game is quality over quantity. Look at Australia. The weridos in the Rainbow Legion make the country top tier in terms of power levels. Cosmic Snake Dad.

It was suggested earlier that China loses a lot of their superhumans to Taiwan and Hong Kong. They just up and leave the country for something less collectivist.

Idaho, due to extensive debate on wether or not to make its Statesmen Rep Potato themed, wound up with a weird Megaman esque mythos.

Basically Dr. Jullienne Tuberous, is a Reed Richards by way of George Washington Carver. A man who discovered and invented new uses for potatoes with his brilliant mind. Genetically engineering spuds that can function as super powerful super batteries and end world hunger. Unfortunately due to being potato themed he gets no respect. So he invented two robot sons.

(Tater) Titan, a robot replaceable arms legs and facial features (a la Mr. Potato Head). And Gemstone, a more advanced and compact robot that can unlock the hidden potential of gemstones.

Gemstone becomes the statesmen because he fits into the state motto of "The Gemstone State". And Titan is jealous because he's got a silly gimmick.

They fight the underground dwelling entities of the Underverse that seek out the gemstone enhanced power sources developed by Dr. Tuberous. Idaho's underground is home to the Rock Snakes, Molemen, and other subterranean enemies.

Oh and there maybe a third robot kid by way of a Roll-Esque artificial human that plays the role of Tuberous's daughter Rosette (Like russet potatoes).

At least that's my interpretation of it.

Which speaking of Gerry Anderson, I'm surprised we didn't go with some Thunderbirds or Spectrum Organization to portray britain. I mean I know they're americans in the show but a team of guys that use Super Vehicles instead of Super Powers could be really neat to fluff or stat out.

>and also, if we assume the power distribution is roughly even between any given populace(and, removing things like the proposed south korean lack of supers and whatever is going on in Africa, this seems to be the case), then China and India should be the world powers, really.
we've established that mainland China has had really bad luck maintaining anything of a superhuman population for exactly that reason, indeed the majority of China's Supers live in Hong Kong and Taiwan, and the former dislike/distrust the mainland so much that they've made it clear that if the mainland tries to control them in any way they'll gladly do a revolt and secede

>>47292370
>They just up and leave the country for something less collectivist
pretty much, also due to how Japan used it's Supers during WW2, it soured the Mao government heavily towards Supers, so between the late 40's and early 70's they treated their Supers like crap(some scholars argue it was bad enough to potentially qualify as a genocide), so most left, many of which ended up working for either the Taiwan government, or for Hong Kong's Triads(Hong Kong is a very Grey Morality locale compared to most of Cape World due to this)

>>47292635
maybe we can play up Supers as Celebrities to a level outdoing even places like Hollywood, but unlike Hollywood or Vegas where most supers are civilians, Korean Supers are indeed mostly of the Crime and Disaster fighting sort(after all South Korea is one of those countries with required Military service)

way I see it, India probably does have the highest population of Supers overall(with the United States in second, and Japan in third), but since it's still a country where large swaths of it are pretty much 3rd World levels, it hasn't really had much of a chance of utilizing that strength on a global scale, as it's still organizing itself on a national level, but most speculate that it will ascend to true Superpower level by the century's end

Alright, this could be something. They believe in military oversight of superhumans but they're being less of a dick about it than China or Russia. They like treating their supers well because they see their supers as protecting them from anti-superhuman China and Japan (old wounds from WW2 die hard).

Korea would be the "good" country with all their supers registered for military service.
