My name is Cecile, and I'm sixteen years old. I already thought my life was odd, what with my parents having moved halfway across the country for their new job and leaving me in the care of my older sister... but then my best friend went and had a book shipped to my house that ended up giving me superpowers.

After a mostly fun day at a not-quite-amusement park, our good times have been shot right to hell by Irene's informing us of Faceless's latest move. Because of course I can't have a single day pass without SOMETHING bad happening.

We've (probably) stopped my father from doing anhything stupid and it looks like Irene and Theresa are going to be helping out with this current situation with Faceless. I want to say this means that things are finally looking up, but I don't want to jinx it.

Plans have been made.

Well maybe not so much of an outright "plan," but we at least have an idea as to what we're going to be doing about the impending burglary attempt that we're all sure is still probably going to happen.

"So that's it?" I ask.
"For now, I guess," Charlotte replies, still visibly displeased about everything that's going on. "We can go over specifics back at the hotel."

She points at Irene.

"Faceless has never struck before sundown so I expect you to show up to prepare long before that," Charlotte says. "Cutting it close will only result in your distracting us."
"Yeah, yeah," Irene sighs. "I'll get in touch with Theresa right away and we'll be there soon enough."
"I certainly hope so," she replies, then turns to me. "Cecile, are you ready to go?"

"Yeah, just about," I nod. "But I did have one question before we leave."

I point at Irene.

"You seemed pretty sure that we can keep him from getting away without... y'know..." I say, trailing my thumb across my neck.
"With any luck, I should be able to," Irene replies.
"Well I was wondering how exactly you plan on doing that."

I hope her solution isn't just "chloroform."

"Well for one," Irene shrugs, "I'm not about to let him go once I get a hold of him."
"...that's all?" Charlotte glares at her.
"No that's not ALL," she groans, "but that's the simplest way to go aobut things so it's what I'm going to try first."
"You know, I could do that myself," she replies. "You're not exactly inspiring confidence... or giving me much of a reason to let you into the place where I live."

it is a fool

you are all fools

just remove the vine

"Yes, well I also happened to send myself something that will help if things don't go as easily as I'd hoped."

Irene reaches into her coat pocket and pulls out a handful of small... I dunno, they look like little computer chips.

"Plan A is that I get a hold on him, knock him out and that's that," Irene says. "I'll plant a couple of these on him when I do so, which is plan B and C."
"What exactly -are- they?" I ask.

Irene flashes a wide, toothy grin.

"GPS locators," she says while shuffling them around in her hand. "I'm already tracking their locations as we speak, and the tracking range is worldwide."
"......" Charlotte's annoyed glare actually gives way to a look of genuine surprise.
"Plan 'B' is that they'll allow me to keep tabs on my own location if he manages to slip both of us somewhere. Plan 'C' is that they'll allow me to keep tabs on HIM in the unlikely event that he actually manages to break free of my grip. Nice plan, right?"

"Yeah, I guess," I nod.
"It's better than nothing," Charlotte mumbles. "Though those things can still be jammed."
"Always a pessimist..." Irene sighs. "But yes, they -are- better than nothing. I don't honestly expect to get to the man's secret hideout but even the slightest advantage is one that we ought to be taking."

She then puts the GPS things back into her pocket.

"And besides, these are a SECONDARY measure," Irene says. "Plan 'A' is still to catch him with my own two hands."
"One can hope," Charlotte replies.

"But that's enough wasting time here," Charlotte says, taking my hand. "C'mon, I need to get my phone back so I can call a taxi to take us back to the hotel ourselves."

She then glances at Irene.

"I assume that you're going to be taking care of your own transportation?"
"Of course," Irene sighs. "I'll call you when we're on our way, Cecile."
"Sure."

I manage to choke out a quick thank you and goodbye to Irene before I'm forcibly pulled out of the room by my lovely girlfriend who's being even more clingy than usual. Going with the flow, I just accept it as she drags me with her to retrieve her phone.

Unrelated question Arch:

I just finished Majikoi and thought it was a solid 8/10. Is Majikoi S worth playing if I liked the first?

He's not "ripping off" anything. False Dendrite is its own thing, and Archelon is discovering it.
Note that I said discovering, not creating. Antarctica still existed before people knew about it, and so did False Dendrite. Archelon was just the first person to find it and start posting it.

True to canon is just anon's being silly, according to arch when I asked him on his tumblr.

It sounds like something someone is trying to hide the canon would say! I'm on to you devil squirtle!

I'm tempted to get at Charlotte for STILL being mean to Irene even after she's offered to help us out like this. And by "us" I mean "her" because Charlotte is the only one who is directly benefiting from this.

And that only serves to make me feel even worse about the way that she's being treated because SERIOUSLY.

But after giving it a little more thought, I decide not to. While Charlotte was definitely being a jerk, it was a lot more "restrained" than her usual outright antagonism so I guess she actually is trying to tone things down. Somewhat.

Baby steps, I guess.

If the FDQC were bodies of water:

Charlotte would be the Red Sea because salty
Alison would be Lake Baikal 'cause it's a deep chasm
Mina would be the Black Sea because black
and Theresa's mom would be the Aral Sea because it is all dried up and no longer fertile.
>>
>>47244787
>and Theresa's mom would be the Aral Sea because it is all dried up and no longer fertile.
But Christine is still entirely capable of having kids. She's got at over a decade or so before the horrors of menopause hit.
>>
>>47244826
Wait but
isn't Theresa herself like 17?

You'd have to be a mom at like 9 years old, if you had a 17 year old kid, and still had 10 years to go until menopause.

And I'm not saying that's impossible, or bad, but it's certainly unusual!

Just as we're nearing my parents' bedroom door, it suddenly swings open.

"I guess this saves me some effort," my father says, smiling awkwardly as he steps out into the hallway to meet us. "Here's your phone, Charlotte."
"Thank you," Charlotte replies as she takes it back and immediately begins mashing in a number. "I trust your conversation went smoothly?"
"More or less, yeah," he nods. "That guy is so persuasive that it's almost scary, though..."

"Yes, he can be like that sometimes," Charlotte smiles. "I trust your worries have been resolved at least somewhat?" she asks.
"A little," Daddy replies. "I actually had some information on that bastard that Gauthier's own people didn't have, but he convinced me to leave the actual legwork to the professionals and I guess he's right about that."
"You can say that again," I glare at him.

I guess I need to thank Charlotte's father for talking him down.

"Anyways," Daddy yawns, "all this shit's worn me out pretty bad so I think I'm just gonna order something to eat and watch a movie."

Then he reaches out and starts ruffling my hair.

I throw up my hands.

"Hey, wait a-"
"No worries, I feel the same way," he laughs. "Just remember that your old man's time here is limited, alright?"
"Yeah, I know..." I mumble.

He then gives me a big hug before stomping down the stairs in that way-too-loud way he does. And if I find it annoying, I can only imagine how much it's bothering Charlotte.

While I -am- anxious to get back to the hotel and get ready to hopefully end all this crap with Faceless, I also feel kind of really bad about how little time I've spent with my parents since they've gotten back. I mull over my deficiencies as a human being for the minute or so that it takes for us to head back downstairs, put on our shoes, and walk out the door.

"Cecile?" Charlotte calls out as I'm locking up.

"Is something the matter?" she asks. "...aside from the obvious, I mean."
"Just personal guilt stuff," I reply. "I'll be fine."

As we walk down the front steps and make our way to the curb, another entirely unrelated worry crosses my mind. One that actually does concern Charlotte.

One short elevator ride to the 17th floor later, Charlotte just about sprints to her suite's door and hurries inside. I don't even bother to try and keep up with her, instead walking at my usual pace.

Because screw it, I've been on my feet for most of the day.

When I do make it inside, I'm met with the adorable sight of Charlotte kneeling on the floor while hugging Milla. I'd totally take a picture if I didn't think that doing so would ruin the moment.

"Have fun on your date?" she asks, glancing at both of us.
