/tg/ - Traditional Games

From street-level to cosmic and everything in between, this is the thread to discuss all things superheroic, at least as tabletop games go. Mutants & Masterminds, Marvel Heroic, Heroes Unlimited, Dark Champions, Villains and Vigilantes, and any other system out there, this is the thread for you if you want to feel superhuman.

Last thread: >>47180960

Current topic: How big is your character's rogues gallery? Are they a good match for your hero/villain?
>>
Recounting the current Statesmen from the last thread:

SOUTH DAKOTA: Four Fathers (four-faced golem)

MASSACHUSETTS: Black Minister II (beyond-the-grave punisher of sins)

NEW MEXICO: Extrahuman (disguised Gray alien)

WEST VIRGINIA: Ms Cryptic (reclusive moth lady detective)

UTAH: Deseret (Super Mormon girl with flight and electric blasts)

HAWAII: Pele (supposed incarnation of the Hawaiian goddess of volcanoes)

WYOMING: The Black Hole/Null (Diminishes powers around him)

OKLAHOMA: Tornado Allie (Sassy black girl with kinetic-powered aerokinesis)

CALIFORNIA: Barnstormer (Cowgirl totemic from Kansas, leader of Hollywood's Blockbusters)

KENTUCTY: Kentucky Rain (Elvis impersonator with hydrokinesis)

ARIZONA: Alien God Killer [Nayenezgani] (Ancient Navaho god who specializes in aliens and extradimensional beasts)

OHIO: Buckeye (super-durable heavy-handed successor trying to prove himself)

FLORIDA: Waveracer (aquatic hero with strength, durability and claws)

SOUTH CAROLINA: Palmetto Bug (strong, fast, tough, fast reflexes, minor flight, deaf, ugly)

INDIANA: The Hoosier (mechanic and racer, drives a super souped-up racing car)

TEXAS: Captain Justice (frail man with a defensive armored suit and non-lethal grenades)

OREGON: The Weatherman (milennial with weather control and the ability to turn into weather phenomena)

ALASKA: Dr. Glacier (human turned ice elemental)

IOWA: The Librarian (keeper of an extradimensional library)

MICHIGAN: The Brown Recluse (investigative journalist by day, genius crime fighter by night with a sweet car)

MARYLAND: The Blue Crab (old seadog piloting his personal so-named reinforced submarine with pincers)

NEBRASKA: Coyote (legendary trickster, wields magic, especially illusions)

Did I forget anyone?

So what states haven't got a Statesman yet?
>>
What´s the powerlevel difference between streetlevel and cosmic? Been reading through the cosmic handbook the numbers presented there a really broad in their scale.
>>
>>47200092
I think Maine agreed to rescind its figure so that Fisher-Girl could be the Statesman of Maine.
>>
>>47200107
Street-level is something like Batman, Hawkeye or Rorschach.
Cosmic is more Superboy Prime, Silver Surfer, Dr. Manhattan.

>>47200138
last I checked they somewhat agreed on Fish Girl being Delaware or any free state with a large coastline.
>>
>>47200092
Fairy Finder was removed as Statesman of Kansas, in lieu of something a bit more down-to-earth.
>>
>>47200151
There seems to have been some kind of resolution to it, but I wasn't sure which way it went.

You're missing Alabama's Snakecharmer, Rhode Island's Herbert Hutchinson and the Unfathomable Otherthing, North Dakota's Rugaru, and Wisconsin's unnamed Swede who wields the Atgier of Gunnar and drinks the milk of Ymir's Cow for a power boost.
>>
>>47200092
You're missing...

NORTH DAKOTA: Rugaru (Ape-man cursed by a witch)

ALABAMA: Snakecharmer (Pentecostal mage specializing in healing, protection, and snake magic)

VERMONT: Libertas (Spirit of freedom)

PENNSYLVANIA: Pitt Fighter (Semi-retired old-school armoured hero)
>>
>>47200145
>last I checked they somewhat agreed on Fish Girl being Delaware or any free state with a large coastline.
The last word on that discussion was
>Alright, would it be cool if we have Bachmann be in the state but have Fisher-Girl the Statesmen [of Maine]?
>>

>>47200207
Thanks guys, I wasn't sure if I'd gotten everyone or not
>>
Thanks to whoever pointed out to me that our snakecharmer was the representative of Alabama.

But I've been thinking more about the character so if people are cool with it I'd like to suggest him for Mississippi instead, anyways

>The Ashman
>Real name Eli Rhodes
>As a young teen Eli took up smoking like many others to fit in. As his love for tobacco greatly increased, so did his attempts to keep people impressed, ultimately leading to his stealing an old Indian peace pipe and smoking from it. Smoking from this pipe opened a connection between him and the Country's native spirits, who taught him the arts of turning any smoke he could produce into arts, illusions, tools weapons and all sorts.
>However this power came with the cost that he must remain one with spirits and nature, requiring him to become a drifter constantly sleeping under the stars and ensuring a healthy balance between man and the spirits
>Now a little older and in his mid 20s, Eli is a little more knowledgable about the world, but still hotblooded and eager to entertain

Off the top of my head, there's Idaho, Arkansas, Colorado, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, Delaware (if Fisher-Girl is representing Maine), New Hampshire, and Louisiana, though that last one may currently be worked on.

Also Washington DC itself.

>>47200611
That could work. We have a couple aerokinetics and hydrokinetics, but no geokinetics.
>>
>>47200527
The theme and powers don't necessarily have to be about the state. Idaho could very well just have a flying brick or a darkness shaper as their hero. Any concept can work for any state, really.
>>
>>47200631
They should still ostensibly represent at least part of their state's culture, at least on paper. It's why Florida's Statesman is an aquatic hero from Cuba who may be part-Atlantean and Utah's is a Mormon.
>>
Arkansas Statesman: Razorback

A good old boy and college football star who was disgraced when it was discovered that he was taking an experimental supersteroid. Razorback begged his way into a nomination, seeing it as his chance for redemption in the eyes of his family and fans. He gets along well with Captain Justice and Ashman, and idolizes Atomic Cowboy, but has gotten into more than a few squabbles with Weatherman over their politics.

Razorback's costume is a modified, armoured version of his college football uniform, with tusks and spines attached to the helmet. Residual effects of the supersteroid have left him with superspeed and -strength. Despite his brutish appearance Razorback possesses a keen tactical mind.
>>
>>47200710

The Hoosier from Gary: A former member of the Statesmen. He was a former astronaut who gained the ability to project an Venus-like atmosphere around himself. He was a living weapon of mass suffocation for a while - often clashed with other Statesmen over him going too far.

Turned out his powers came from an alien parasite, and he became a sentient cubic-mile storm of toxic gases. The Statesmen took it down, and the government disappeared it - they're totally not keeping it just in case, you guys.

>Emerald Blaze (Delaware)
Born of an extremely well-to-do family (in a state where corporations outnumber the population), Cassandra Carter was - and still is, to an extent - as blue-blood as they come. Despite this, she insisted on not being pampered (too much) and eventually developed a legitimate interest in aviation, what with the Dover Air Force Base in the area. She earned her pilot's license and was soon in the skies. However, while flying over Nevada, a violent cosmic crosswind caused by a clash between the Atomic Cowboy and a new device the famed Doc Chase was testing buffeted and wrecked Cassandra's plane, causing her to crash in the desert. Miraculously, however, she survived and found herself with new and amazing powers.

Cassandra had newfound control over a radiant green energy that subsumed her. She could project and control this energy from her body in various ways, such as releasing blasts of power, creating a destructive aura around her that lets her destroy whatever she touches, internalize her energy for increased strength, project a protective shield around herself that also protects her from the elements and even allows her to breathe in space and underwater, and even fly. Her skin turned a little pale and her eyes turned green, but she can live with that much.

Cassandra returned to Delaware safe and sound and promptly made a name for herself using this "emerald fire" as a hero. With a specially-comissioned jumpsuit (seen here in partial undress), the energy controller christened herself the Emerald Blaze; she promptly rose to local prominence and was a shoe-in for the Statesmen. Plus, she gets to fly all she wants with her powers, and what better feeling is that?

North Carolina Statesman: Holograham

Back when he was human Graham Buchanan was an engineer working on light-based teleportation technology for a firm in Raleigh. One night he was working late in the lab, too engrossed in his work to notice that a tornado warning had been posted. When the tornado blew through it caused a catastrophic accident, exposing Graham to the raw energies of his prototype teleporter. Thought dead by the world, Graham painstakingly reconstituted himself out of the photonic substance his body had been transmuted into. For him, the Statesmen are as much of a support group of fellow freaks as a superhero team. Holograham maintains frequent correspondence with Dr. Glacier, who he sees as the only one on the team with a scientific mind to match his own.

Power-wise Holograham is able to project hard light holograms like a much weaker Green Lantern, and produce silent illusions. As a being of light he's immune to many of the frailties of humanity.

Roughly Spidey-sized at this point.

hey guys, I've tossing around a idea for a Canadian superhero in my head and I'd like to hear some ideas for what his powers could be seeing as I'm not really good at that sort of thing.

>storm trooper
a member of the Canadian Expeditionary Force young Alex Addy (names a WIP) was issued a seemly normal Ross rifle to use as a sniper. however this gun was unique compared to it's brethren as it's wood was made from a forest where a first nation tribe made shaman staffs from.
during the battle of Ypres the magic in the wood activated giving Alex power over storms, allowing him to push away much of the chlorine gas as his poor control of the magic could.
he then spent much of ww1 and 2 battling other supers until he retired having become a national icon for many Canadians during that era. his grandson would later find the magic gun and become the storm trooper of the 21st century but that a story for a another time.

now I have a bit of a issue on what having control over storms would mean in terms of superpowers, especially for a soldier. I'd like to hear any ideas you guys have for something like that.

one idea I had was that when ever he used the powers a very small storm would show up messing up the aim everyone but him. think a weaponized version of the storm clouds that show up over a cartoon characters head when they get sad.

what do you guy's think good, bad or ugly?

Ok guys, what do you think

WASHINGTON DC
The Representative AKA Pubic Service

It took years of lobbying by the residents of the District of Columbia for their resident hero to be included in the Statesmen, which is unfortunate, because it is hard to imagine a better fit for the team than the politically minded Representative. Born the son of a civil servant and a schoolteacher, Ed Norton has spent his entire life fighting to preserve the ideals of justice and the democratic process.

Origins
While finishing his law degree at Yale, Ed led a campaign to convert the school to clean energy using an experimental reactor designed by the school’s student engineers. The reactor generates infinite energy by moving atoms along spiritual lay lines. (see black minister, fairy finder)

campaign was a brilliant success despite vocal opposition from the school board, and for his help Ed was allowed to press the button bringing the reactor online. As the reactor came on line the surrounding area was converted to intangible energy for a brief moment, including Ed. When he flickered back into reality, Ed was forever changed.

He found that he possessed abilities far beyond the ordinary man. He can make himself intangible at will, allowing him to pass through objects. He can teleport across the globe in an instant. At will he can phase atoms of his body into another person, allowing him to a limited telepathic bond with that individual. His connection to the spiritual plane also permits him limited precognition.

Since his election to the Statesmen, Ed has spent the majority of his time defending the President from superpower threats. However, he still thinks that civil advocacy is the real way to save the world.
>>

It was actually this clerical error that prevent Public Service from being allowed to join the Statesmen for so long, not any objection to allowing DC a superhero. The people of the district are super sensitive about not having a voting representative tho, so they just assumed that they were being oppressed.

Mountain Lion

Abbey Grant was a high profile environmental terrorist who served 20 years in prison for her connection to a plot to destroy the Hoover Dam. Her time in the penal system instilled in her a fierce respect for the ideals of justice and order. She created the persona of Mountain Lion upon her release in order to protect these ideals. Many people find her tactics unnecessarily ruthless, but her unrivaled ability to bring wrongdoers to justice earned her the respect of the public and a spot with the Statesmen. If the public every learned her true identity however, there is no question that she would be unceremoniously voted out.

As Mountain Lion, Abbey relies on the skills of tactical guerrilla warfare she acquired as an environmental terrorist. 20 years in prison have also left her in peak physical condition and an incredibly skilled hand-to-hand fighter.

New Hampshire Statesman: Ushabti

A golem-like magical construct animated by a Dartmouth College secret society who dabbled in ancient Egyptian magic. After the society's magical mishaps came to light, those responsible were promptly expelled, though Ushabti was allowed to remain on the college grounds and became something of a Dartmouth mascot. Over the years Ushabti has protected the college from threats both internal and external, from berserk robotic engineering projects to an insane psychic looking to drain the brains of its staff. When the spot on the Statesmen for New Hampshire opened up, Dartmouth students rigged the voting system to guarantee the position for Ushabti.

Ushabti tends to be quiet, dour, and practical, though it is fiercely loyal towards those it considers its charges, and has a tremendous appetite for learning. It has weakly superhuman durability from its clay body, though Ushabti's true power lies in its immense knowledge base, having studied with the best and brightest of Dartmouth for decades.

Batman has the Joker.
And beyond additional theming on top of that, there was no historical precedent for Bats and Clowns to hate eachother.

Heroes with diametric opposites do exist.

Superman's Brawn vs Bainy Brainiac/Lex Luthor.

Captain America vs Red Skull, a stinkin' Nazi.

Thor and Loki are a mythological reference.

There's also an element of straight up inversions of eachother.

Aquaman and your choice of either Black Manta or Ocean Master.

Willpowered Green Lantern vs Fearsome Sinestro

Or the relatively obscure, The Darkness and the Angelus.
>>
>>47206145
Yep, basically this >>47206169 and this >>47206181

We're trying to put together a rules agnostic setting, complete with history and characters for use in super hero games. You might not use the setting, but having 50 concepts for superheroes (or villains) lying around isn't a bad thing.
>>
>>47205184
>Flash has Captain Cold
cold is a lack of movement

>Wonder Woman has Cheetah
Wondy preaches peace, love and understanding
Cats are made of hate
>>
>>47206237
also bats are humorless and spiders hate goblins
>>
>>47206237
And Captain Cold isn't just about cold, he's about absolute zero, the point at which there absolutely no movement of any sort. He is the only ice-based character in DC that can do absolute zero, and is thus the perfect counter to the Flash.
>>
>>47206210
Minnesota also has some Viking-ness much like Wisconsin. But it also borders one of the great lakes.

And we could use another aquatic hero.

The Lake Superior Monster, Ogopogo. A long thought extinct plesiosaur that formed a telepathic rapport with a local minnesota kid.

Becoming a sort of Lassie by way of Gamera.
>>
>>47206300
I don't mind doing a lake themed hero, but we already have two 'children whose best friend is a monster' in the Statesmen.
>>
>>47206311
Well lets go with the Gamera route then.

The Lake Superior Monster is a "friend to all children" that rushes to anyone's need. No kid tagalong. Just a generally friendly giant monster.
>>
>>47206237
>Wondy preaches peace, love and understanding
>Cats are made of hate

Depending on Cheetah's origin, she's either a grave robber, stealing the relics of Wonder Woman's home, or cursed by the gods in the same way that Wonder Woman is blessed.
>>
>>47206359
I wrote up a Minnesota hero too, mind if we put it to a vote?

Erik the Red

Erik grew up in a little town that time forgot in central Minnesota, on the shores of pristine lake and just off the edge of the prairie. His was the quintessential midwestern life, a loving family, church on the weekends, football in the backyard with his friends. His parents never wanted nor expected him to grow up into anything but a happy, ordinary person. However ,this wasn’t exactly the case. Erik did grow up, into a hulking 8 foot tall giant of a man. Each of his arms has the thickness and strength of a gnarled old oak tree, and his chest brings to mind the freight ships which carry iron across Lake Superior. His unnatural size and strength blue his kind demeanor however, and he is capable of surprising gentleness.

Fighting evil emerged naturally from Erik’s desire for everyone to get along, and soon he found himself appointed to the Statesmen. He took the name Erik the Red as a reference to his favorite football team, the Vikings.
>>
>>47206510
I think you got more information down for your hero idea than I do mine.

So I'm entirely okay if Erik becomes Minnesota's representative.

Perhaps we can go with the Lake Monster as a hero that patrols ALL the great lakes. Honorary Statesmen as representative of some of America's natural wonders?

>>47206780
Well, not everything has to be part of a group. This is a setting too, remember? The fact that there's a Lake Monster that patrols all the Great Lakes can just be a thing that happens. It even has baked in story hooks, from the basic "We thought it was evil, fought it, and then found out it was actually good!" to something more complicated, even mystic. Like maybe research into the Lake Monster discovers that it travels so quickly from lake to lake because it's accessing a portal system that links ALL the lakes in the US together through a small, watery dimension. What else lurks in those murky, freshwater depths?

All three aquatic heroes on display. Just a quick sketch.

Mostly to litmus test the designs.
I was debating on giving the Blue Crab's Captain a more Captain Haddock or Popeye look.

Fishergirl has a sort of generic merfolk design at the moment. Might try incorperate some more of the previous legacies elements into the design. Bandanna, yellow outfit a la sailor rain coat.

Ghost o' Jarone and Johnny the Fiddler both holding violin cases. Johnny's is open, and inside is his Golden Fiddle. Jarone's, on the other hand, is shut. He looks at Johnny with an eyebrow raised, asking "Wait, you carry an actual instrument in yours?" While Johnny just gives Jarone the "Tired of your bullshit" look

Updated pastebin for the Statesmen.

question: When were the statesmen created? We know that Blue Crab was one of the founding members, but that there have been three generations of Hoosiers in the team. Who were the other founding members? who are the oldest heroes? Libertas probably was one.
>>
>>47207380
I imagine them to be a few decades old at the most, probably created in the bicentennial fervor of '76.
>>
>>47207380
you would think that a superhero team where the members are elected would be mostly conventional heroes, but no. it is basically a loose association of gods, aliens, alien gods, ghosts and monsters with the odd vigilante thrown in.
Cape World US has some weird voters.
>>
>>47207486
I think it's more due to the Statesmen not being taken very seriously as a heroic organization, the more popular conventional heroes tend to go to more prestigious teams.
>>
>>47207486
Embrace the weirdness!

I think it's sort of because the hero community as a whole knows that the Statesmen are kind of a sham, since they're not officially allowed to do a whole hell of a lot. It's mostly PR.
>>
>>47207380
>>47207403
If it's around that time, then the oldest members would most likely be Blue Crab, Libertas, maybe Ms. Cryptic, possibly Dr. Glacier, Black Minister II, Four Fathers (of course they needed a mascot), Alien God Killer, maybe Cleveland Steel (Buckeye's predecessor), Palmetto Bug?, maybe the first Hoosier was getting close to retirement at the time, at least one instance of Captain Justice, possibly the Librarian, and others.

Who are the oldest amongst them?
In order of Oldest-youngest: Alien God Killer, Pele/Coyote (depends on if they're actually the gods), Libertas, Atomic Cowboy, Black Minister II/Blue Crab/Reverend Luther (really hard to pinpoint which one is actually the oldest), then they get harder to rank as they get closer to the 'current time'.
>>
>>47207581
if we say that the first Hoosier was the Hoosier from Gary, he canonically didn't so much as retire as turn into an evil parasitic dust cloud.

Cleveland steel should definitely be a founding member. The first Captain Justice as well, and Libertas. along with Blue Crab that gives us four founding members.

I don't feel like Cryptic, Alien God Killer, or Black Minister are civic minded enough to found the team.
>>
>>47207663
>>47207663
did heroes start the statesmen? I thought congress just kind of decided to make it a thing and hold elections.
>>
>>47207380
way I pictured it is that the statesmen have 3 odd generations.

The first generation created early 20th century, not as a real team, but more of a fluff piece in a magazine about the "Heroes of the Nation" vibe.

Not an official team, just a big list of costumed crimefighters. Can even be pre-Alaska, Hawaii, Arizona and New Mexico.

Generation 2 is when it officially became a team, could be around post war 50's america and/or the Bicentennial >>47207403
(around then where they get a full proper team). that attempts at a proper team were made, the Blue Crab is a part of this generation.

Generation 3 is the modern age.

>>47207367
This is a quick sketch. The design for johnny is mostly an aged up version of the Primus video protag.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X9uk9IcoQ0w
>>
>>47207663
Well, the Black Minister's story basically states that the FBI forced him into it whether he wanted to or not, and the timespan fits, so it's entirely believable that he'd be one of the founders.

Cryptic discovered like 15% of the current statesmen, so I simply put her in there.
And I placed Alien God Killer there because he's just so fucking old.

Connecting Cut
"The Man with Steady Hands"

Basically an egotistical sword guy who has studied every kind of swordfighting, from kendo to fencing and everything in between.

is it worth it for the pun?

I think with Louisiana we might be done.

MADAM DELPHINE

The Voodoo priestess of Louisiana (something like a state-wide sorcerer supreme) specializing in using water as a conduit for her spirit and Loa summoning. She became Vodoo priestess by defeating the previous (her own mother) in a duel-non lethally of course. One tends to not kill readily when one believes in ghosts.

Normally voodoo practitioners have spirits and gods "ride" them. Madam Delphine, being a young practitioner mistress of the mystic arts (in her 20's), breaks tradition by having her summons inhabit water. But Vodoo has always been an eclectic, evolving religion. The old guard support the ways in which she evolves magic.

The more water, the more spirits she can summon to inhabit it.

Her figuring for her style of magic is that spirits that like to inhabit human bodies must like water. Humans are mostly water. So with a little tweaking of the old spells she was able to summon ghosts -through- water so long as she has a lot of it on hand, which is why she usually keeps watch on the bayous and coasts and beaches of Louisiana.

Her most common "summon' is Jean Lafitte and his pirate crew. She can summon them in the water or draw them all into her to make herself super strong.

On land she dressed very prim and proper, almost like a delicious brown Scarlet O'Hara. But in a flash of magic she can strip herself of her clothes and appear sort of like pic related, ready to fight in an outfit that won't restrict her movements in the water (and makes men crazy).

She is a mischievous, roguish young woman. She likes playing pranks and practical jokes with her water-ghosts. It probably comes from hanging out with ghost pirates all day.

She's the 4th member of the "water squad", and Blue Crab's headaches have never been larger. She delights in setting up a romantic triangle with herself, Fisher-Girl, and Waveracer. She finds it good, spirited competition. May the best girl win Florida's Finest-and she intends to.

She likes to tease Fish-Girl with the fact that she's beaten her in sparring more than she's beaten her, but Fish-Girl replies that having an aquatic army is cheating and that one-on-one she has the most wins.

CONNECTICUT
Connecting Cut
“The Man with Steady Hands”
James Hutchling loved reading stories of great knights and warriors as a kid. He spent his childhood practicing swordplay with fallen sticks in his backyard. When he turned fourteen he left home, and traveled across the world studying all variety of sword-based martial arts. He studied fencing in Spain, Kendo and Kenjutsu in Japan, gladiatorial combat in Rome, and historical european martial arts in England. He also became a keen student of metallurgy during this time period, learning to forge and repair his swords.

Having mastered every conceivable style of sword-based combat, Hutchling set out to uncover the great historical weapons of the past.

Hutchling tracked down the Sword of Troy to a small village off the coast of the Caspian sea. The sword was an heirloom of a family of fishermen. Hutchling threatened to slaughter the family unless they surrendered the sword, but an old man stepped forward to challenge him. The old man fought Hutchling to a standstill, and would have killed him had the young swordsman not fled. Confused and hurt, Hutchling could not understand why he had lost the duel. Eventually he decided that the old man had won because he had been protecting his family, and that the truest path to strength lay in having people to protect. He returned to his home in Connecticut, resolving that he would become the state’s champion and in so doing acquire the strength to defeat the old man and claim his sword.

At any given time Connecting Cut carries an Urumi (flexible whip like sword from india), A great sword, a chinese broadsword, a katana, a gladius, an epee, a khopesh, and any variety of shortswords and knives. He also has access to a variety of specialized and enchanted weapons, acquired throughout his travels across the world. He generally uses these weapons when the situation requires it.

>>47208539
well, they're all with wildly different sects of christianity... so the PR and media thing would be to lump together these "guardian angels", but their cooperation and actions would be a lot more based around their personal opinions of each other, and they'd probably try to avoid religious discussions while doing superhero work.
>>

>>
>>47207663
I agree. Captain Justice I, Libertas, Blue Crab, And Cleveland Steel make a good "founding core". The other guys are probably old routine members but they don't feel like "faces" for the team.
Other founding members besides these four were probably rotated off and are involved with other teams and projects and whatnot. They do have elections every year or so the keep the roster fresh.

>>47207486
It's sort of like "Ms America" for capes. Its not composed of necessarily who would make the best "protectors" or who is the strongest. America has other "JLA" style super teams.

You get people that vote just on the novelty factor of the nominations alone. No one wants to just have a "captain Nebraska". They want someone colorful.

So you have guys that vote for Virginia Daring just because she's walking hotness in a bikini that wrestles around with scantily clad super villianesses and guys that vote for Fisher-Girl because a Fischer has ALWAYS been Maine's favorite protector and guys that vote for Rat Pack because "Dude our state rep is a rat hive mind that's awesome!"

South Dakota has a fourfaced golem based off of Mt. Rushmore with an extra punny name. A sort of organic robot that swaps its face around isn't out of the question. Perhaps instead of a robot with a mr. Potato head face, its a collection of Facial features that can plug themselves into things and allow it to spring to life.

Legs plug into a tree and it uproots itself to bat away some criminals. Eyes are plugged into the door of a vault to keep an eye out for theives.

This would make for a neat cap on their power.

They consume more common and generic gemstones for simple powers, fireballs, ice breath, charming, telekinesis, but its used up.

The rarer gem alloys or weird stuff leads to weirder powers. Invisible fire, riding on solar winds, generating bismuth structures.

The more I talk about this gemstone hero the more I think they should be more generalized rather than Idaho's specific hero.
Mostly because I also like the potato super scientist idea too.

I like where this is going. Dr Tuberous could be like that one guy that saved millions by inventing a stronger strain of wheat and got a noble prize for it. Earth is such a breadbasket because he and other guys worked to invent super-agriculture that it exports food to starving alien worlds.

Dr Tuberous isn't too good in a head on fight so he's like the other "team" members of the Statesmen. He has a buddy that fights for him in the form of gem-powered Tater Titan.

Stop be if it sounds crazy, but what if Gemstone is his robot son (Dr Tuberous was never good at talking to girls) and Tater Titan is ALSO his robot son, just a big lumbering prototype of Gemstone.

The world is plagued by the vengeful constructs of scientists who have perceived themselves as being scorned by the Earth. But the one who does the most good for the world, the one who is most under-appreciated, most ignored, and the one with the most potential to bring an end to heroes and civilization with his potato-powered devices that rival the gods, is the one scientist who puts up with it all and still works to make ever more filling potatoes.

Dr. Tuberous is the one true hero of this world.

Here's an idea, her features change and shift over the year. When its winter she looks more like a Thule with webbing in stuff (because Thule "crosses over" with the Earth north of Germany where its really cold) and when its summer she looks more like a human.

IDAHO
Gemstone

A powerhouse of android which operates by means of an unknown power source, Gemstone is able to convert trapped energy in various valuable stones into a variety of powerful effects.Solar powered flight, and cosmic beams from the Star Garnet. Shooting invisible fire from the Pinafore opal. Harlequin Opal is a laughter aura. Bruneau Jasper lets it melt into the ground and travel that way.

Gemstone narrowly won the election to the Statesman over his “brother” a shapeshifting android named Titan. Both of these powerhouse crime fighters were created by the enigmatic Dr. Tuberous, a scientist who has devoted his life to studying the functions of the humble potato. Tuberous has functionally quadrupled the crop yields throughout Idaho and empowered some of the regions most famous heroes. However, his research and demeanor are so boring that no one can ever remember his name or his achievements.

Frankly I kind of imagined the Huck Finn/Tom Sawyer hero to be a bit of a master of the ruse cruse. Trickster hero of the mississippi river. An American Loki?

We can also do an inversion of a Yankee in King Arthur's Court as the Missouri hero, if we wanna keep the Mark Twain references up.

But a rule 63 huck finn is pretty up my alley. But why a Catgirl? That seems kind of arbitrary to me.

>>47210303
I could picture it going one of two ways

I'd say it'd be disastrous. An energy crystal already has its potential released. Taking it a step further would up the energy but only for it to explode in a city shattering kaboom. Or making the toxic effect of kryptonite more toxic.

Alternatively the Crystal Potential Release works in the reverse on already active powerstones. Energy crystals and kryptonite are depowered by having their potential released/Sealed.

Bobcat Girl Tom Sawyer sounds good to me. Just give her a longer tail than normal.

>Why a catgirl?

Because it fits for a trickster. I can just see her lazily hanging off a weeping willow of some of those trees that grow along the Mississippi. She also breaks the stereotype that cats can't stand water, being an expert swimmer.

Tom Sawyer/Huck Finn would be a cat if they were animals. Cunning, independent, creators of their own morality.

Catgirls are also a fetish of mine to be totally honest

>Inversion of a Connecticut Yankee

So a fantasy/romance character coming to the real world?

Maybe she's from one of Fairy Finder's Fairy Worlds, dropping on because she likes the river and the people that live on the river and like getting one over on the stuffy Atlanteans that don't like spirits to interact with humans?

She's been a protector of the river for decades, just lazing about and getting into trouble and solving problems with her own sense of fair play and justice.

"Show me' is a good catchphrase for trickster that likes to hoist victims by their own petard.

"Oh? You think you can rob that river boat casino do you? Show me."

"Oh? You think you can take little ol' me in a fight? Show me."

"You think you're going to get away with that? Show me."

Tricksters are tricky like that. They wait for their opponent to set themselves up.

so just merge the ideas?

Bob Cat
a shapeshifting trickster spirit bound to the various rivers and streams of Missouri. Somewhat Tomboyesque, it is somewhat difficult to tell whether this master of ruse anddecpeiton is actually on the side of justice. The people love her though, and associate her with the famed antics of fictional Missouri natives Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn.

She likes the physical side of Missouri way too much to ever go back to the spiritual.

there was an idea for an evil team themed after a 52 card deck a few threads ago. other people proposed making a Satellites team set in former soviet states.

We could play with the idea about having an organization of secessionists or anarchists that the statesmen are opposed to.

a handful of the statesman have villains in their background, so that might be a place to start as well.

Statesmen as is a pretty big ambitious project. I'd argue against a proper antistatesmen, if only because we'd be doing the "Find something about a state and make a character around it" thing we've already done with the regular statesmen. But it could help to have ideas for "american villains" in general.

Or a "Villain Society" existing in the world at large, across the globe. Not quite "Ivan Badguy" level of foreign menace supervillains, Just a world wide supervillain society.

Someone suggested playing cards as a motif. And I just realized my doodle for Overlord Darkness sort of has a "Spade Shaped" head. which was more of a cheeky grant Morrison reference than anything else.

New villain:

Even in Atlantis, there were those who practiced the magic arts and were not content with the power this gave them. One such sorcerer turned from the light and began to search the dark paths for real truth. As many after him, he found only lies and corruption. It opened him to the beings outside of our reality, outside of all realities, that wish only to to bring ruin. The sorcerer's mistake was not one of the ones that doomed Atlantis; he was stopped mid-ritual by some of the earliest and wisest heroic mages.

But something DID slip through.

A spirit, really. Just a small piece of a greater corrupter. It had no power to do anything but run and hide - by possessing the bodies of sea-life - from those that would banish it back to the outer realms. But no one body lasted very long. So under the oceans it waited for thousands of years, and slept. Humanity's rise, fueled by technology, woke it once more. What it tasted was sweet. Pollution. Toxic spills. Chemicals. Dead, decaying sea life. Humanity's causal disdain for the oceans fed it and it slowly grew more powerful until, finally, it was able to possess the body of an unlucky swimmer and come to shore, to bring its corrupting touch to the land.
>>
>>47211083
He's a sort of Shcrodinger's cat of Evil. Sort of general purpose evil society leader with the twist that he's multiple origin stories wrapped into one entity. One day he's the evil version of a Doc Chase from another universe, the next he's the secret advisor to the molepeople king, to the next where he's a starfish alien from the dark side of the moon. Lost son of Imhotep, lost son of a dictator from a long forgotten foreign country, or even Hitler's secret brother, and a computer designed by the aztecs. He starts up evil organizations and swiftly abandons them as they suit his needs.

A sort of Darkseid-esque primordial evil. Is how I've interpreted him.

I think he was originally based off of the great leader of Shocker from Kamen Rider, who had multiple different appearances in the same show (i think). Ranging from hooded red mask, to bundle of snakes instead of a head, to weird stoney faced cyclops.
>>
>>47211151
It has many names: The Befouler of Oceans, The Rotting Shore, The Wave of Brackish Death. But the only sobriquet that's ever truly stuck came during its first battle with superheroes, when Trinity exclaimed, "This thing stinks like Low Tide!"

Low Tide manifests by possessing a waterlogged corpse, covered in dead barnacles and other sea parasites, with flotsam and jetsam clinging to knobby dead coral growths on its joints and head. Its skin is fishbelly white and it brings briny rot wherever it goes. It attacks, much like many ocean heroes, with hydrokinesis, but fouls the water as it does. The water blasts might be greasy, with a pH so low it leaves chemical burns. Or a splash might poison its victims with a rotting plague, or infest them with horrid, mutant sea lice. The real damage it does is to the shoreline and oceans where it appears. Dead fish and sea mammals trail its wake and water grows stagnant and foul, making beaches uninhabitable for weeks or even years.

Naturally, Low Tide is of serious concern to Fisher-Girl, Waveracer, The Blue Crab, and anyone interested in preserving the oceans. Those with a Atlantean or magic background may find much fascinating about the poisonous spirit.

(Please correct me if this goes against anything previously said about Atlantis and Atlanteans.)

I thought the deck idea was interesting because it gave us enough to counter all the Statesmen and their DC leader and how a big boss left over, the Joker of the deck.

Regardless of what theme the organization takes I'm tempted to have it contain a bunch of arch-foes. Think the Super Friends Legion of Doom.

It'll be hard to find a reason to get so many super villains together.

Anyway I want tho throw an idea for Wilbur and Otherthing's Arch out. Sense they're a good version of Dunwhich Horror how about having them fight a bad version of Randolph Carter.

THE DREAM SULTAN

Based on Dr Destiny, Freddy Kruger, Nightmare, Randolph Carter, Kuranis

The Dream Sultan is wanted by dream warriors the world over from BAKKU of Japan to NEMO of North America. He is a "dream warlord", exploiting dream creatures to increase his power seeing them as nothing more than chaotic, wicked monsters that must be tamed by him like Zeus tamed Typhon or Marduk tamed Tiamat.

Dream Sultan believes that the first step to creating an ordered, harmonious society is to make sure the world of dreams is harmonious and ordered. Nightmares must be tamed like wild animals.

Progress has been made in recent decades to exploring the mental Earth, the manifestation of Earth that sits on top of the physical and spiritual Earth. These "Dreamlands" are where dreams and nightmares take independent form from the dreamer. Spirits and humans alike dream, and here is where the dreams mingle.

It is the outer edge of the planet's oversoul, where anything can happen if one provides the proper will and imagination to command the raw dreamstuff.

Here is where The Dream Sultan lives in his shining castle of willpower grown on the backs of mammoth ambition-whales and anger-hawks. He travels from dream to dream and from mind to mind taking the bad thoughts and putting them to work to power his fortress.

>>47211182
He has made himself an enemy of the dreamlands and super-dreamers, but he has become a particular arch-foe to Wilbur and his Otherthing brother. The Dream Sultan believes that Wilbur must be "saved" from the corrupting influence of his brother at any cost and the two masters of the occult have fought often.

SUPER SECRET: The Dream Sultan is Old man Wizard Whatelely, the one responsible for bonding Wilbur to his brother and now deeply regrets his mistake. He has been driven by his mistake to conquer all monsters the world over stating with nightmares and working down to the real world.

He is the 10 of Spades in THE DECK.

I feel like there would never be a singular organized rime ring, though I feel like there could be one major one in the background discreetly working with, and through, extant major syndicates (metahuman or not).
As much as it's a stupid movie, Spectre's boardroom scene really nails the tone of what I'd like to see in the setting as far as a central, global villainy group goes. Moriarty-tier stuff.

And alongside this there would of course be some metahuman or supervillainous representation in organized crime that's just different means to the same end. Like, a geokinetic digging tunnels for the cartels to move guns, drugs, and people--that sort of stuff happens today anyways, and it'd be at more-or-less the real life digging's scale because of superheroics, putting everything in largely the same balance as the real world minus some potential or occasional shakeups.

And then there could be free agents working for/with more banal criminals job-by-job, or smaller-scale gangs or crews of metahumans taking on one job at a time.

Maybe the deck is less of an organization and more of a classification system for super criminals?

Spades: Conquerors. Doctor Dooms and Kangs.

Hearts: Terrorists, dreamers, mad scientists. People that want to "save the world form itself". Anyone that wants to impose their vision on the Earth without the organization and obvious power structures of a Spade. Think Zoom, Punisher, Ozymandias, Mad Stan, Movie-Zemo.

Diamonds: Hedonists. They do what they want because it makes them feel good. Ranges from punks that just want to rob a bank like many, many Spider-Man villains to thrill killers like the Joker.

Clubs:Destroyers. Brutes. "Wanton Destruction" is the theme. They can either be innocents that can't control their powers and are a danger to themselves and others like The Phoenix, unthinking brutes like Solomon Grundy and Doomsday, or world destroyers like Brainiac.

Joker: The highest class. Apocalyptic, powerful creatures. Shuma-Gorath. Galactus. Celestials. You summon AGATHION and the DREAM CATCHER among others to fight these threats.

If we are doing a villain team, I want this guy to be on it.

Martin Dundo

Martin Dundo was the heir to a rich industrial building jobs and empire which dominated the Great Lakes Region and he’d influence throughout the eastern seaboard. Rather than continue his family legacy of careful, ethical business practices, Dundo cut jobs and violated safety regulations in order to finance the creation of a vast narcotics network. It is speculated that Dundo Laboratories was responsible for the creation of the infamous designer drug Sprint, as well as several other incredibly dangerous substances.

Eventually Abraham Axel, a reporter working for the Detroit Free Press, caught wind of Dundo’s under-the-table operations and published a scathing expose on the industrialist’s criminal empire. I response, Dundo’s team of lawyers brought libel charges against Axel, forcing him to resign in disgrace. This incident seemed to cement Dundo’s hold over the region, but a year later a mysterious operative named the Brown Recluse began disrupting his operations and stealing incriminating evidence. Dundo poured every resource into catching the vigilante, but it was not long before the Recluse had gathered enough evidence to conclusively demonstrate Dundo’s corruption. The libel charges against Axel were dropped, and Dundo was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

While in prison Dundo was approached by a mysterious representative of the Playing Cards Group (working name), who offered him freedom in exchange for the services of his incredible financial and organizational skills. A few days later Dundo disappeared from his cell, and the efficiency of criminal operations across the United States quadrupled overnight.

But I feel destroyers could fall under the Diamonds or Hearts element. Since they can be "forces of nature".

Not sure i could go either way.

I feel they might be this setting's Avengers/Justice league. The team symbolic of the setting as a whole. A Magic Hero, A Science Hero, An Strengh Hero, A Street Hero, and Mutant Hero. Characters with backstories from around the world, a globetrotting adventurer, an alien trying to fit in, sorcerer in high society, a kid sidekick, and just your regular college girl. Plus there's something faintly international or global about them too.
>>
>>47211864
Yeah, they are the big leagues. The statesmen are mostly a political group, they aren't the primary super organization of the setting by any means (although they may be the largest)
>>
>>47211584
Sounds like a interesting guy, I like that he's involved with Turnpike's drug of choice. Neat bit of flavor there.

Speaking of Brown Recluse I have this idea for a character he and the other two "Super Drivers" can arch. A reckless daredevil based on stories of Autobahn "Ghost Riders' that deliberately drive on the wrong side of the road, Vanishing point, and that one segment from Robot Carnival.

THE IMMORTAL

He feels the need. Boy does he ever.

Back in the 1920's one of the first of America's super villains was THE IMMORTAL, a Clyde Barrow John Dilliger bank robber named THE IMMORTAL for being apparently un-catchable and un-killable. He walked away from car crashes and police ambushes that should have killed him. He lived life to the lees, even adventuring as an amoral rival THE AMERICAN EXPLORATION SOCIETY, partying on spirit-Mars with nearly naked red girls before coming home to party at the young Las Vegas.

But The Immortal, while very hard to kill, was not Immortal, and his reputation invited rivals that wanted to stake their rep on killing one. Eventually one succeeded.

Now his ghosts haunts the highways of North America in a car from hell that is actually a living demon. He is driven to drive, and drive, and drive. Even if there are cities and buildings in the way. Most times he is an intangible ghost, but spiritualist baddies that know what they are doing can give him and his car a corporeal form that sets a living missile on a tour across America.

Maybe it's pure and simple revenge? The guy organizing the Deck (we can call him the Joker in this sense, taking from the Fortean "cosmic joker", a cosmic being that causes weird phenomena to happen) gathers a bunch of people that have fought the Statesmen members before just because the Statesmen beat him the past and he wants revenge?

Some are bribed, some sign on just to take another shot at their rivals, and some are forced into joining.

APART YOU WERE DEFEATED. BUT TOGETHER, THE HOUSE ALWAYS WINS

>>47211892
He doesn't care about people. He doesn't care about cities. He just wants to drive and drive forever. As long as he's driving he feels like he's even heaven, even strapped inside the belly of a demon-car, cackling and raving like the Night Rider from Mad Max.

Ghost O' Jarone has orders from his boss to drag the twitchy bastard back to hell, but to catch this guy and keep him caught he's going to need help from fellow auto Statesmen The Hossier and Brown Recluse.

So people are putting together a Hydra-esque national criminal organization to rival the Statesmen? I dunno.

I feel it's more organic if each hero has their own respective rogue's gallery - anywhere from 1-3 reliable enemies - and allow any possible connections to draw from there. Having a massively organizaed national criminal cabal so quickly just doesn't feel right to me, especially if they're as disparate as the Statesmen themselves are. Plus, considering an organization of that size, it must be rather unwieldy.

Just start with individual villains that any given Statesman could call an enemy, and go from there.
>>
>>47212098
Awe, don't kill our fun. This is an easier way to generate villains that aren't specific to respective heroes. It makes for a more involved, organic world.

It references /shg/ in a subtle way. And its an Avengers-esque mononym. Plus they are "superheroes in general" sense of the word. Acompassing all types, ages, and nationalities.

My one issue is that it feels a little militaristic. like General as in the army, rather than General as in "overall elements of something".

Perhaps we can incorporate the initials of /shg/.

Otherwise have some progress on the team's "all together now" pose. any comments so far?

>>47212098
Not to directly rival the statesmen, no. Just to sort of antagonize people all over the world. They could be enemies to the Generals or the Knights of the Round table or even Buckethead.
>>
>>47212117
But then you reach a point where 70% of all major crime is a Card crime, and that gets boring quickly when you know it's the same organization over and over and that, even if you keep beating them back, you generally don't make any real headway. Organizations like that are typically designed to be invincible, barring an en-masse catastrophic attack.
>>
>>47212098
>>47212117
I think a this point we should just make bad guys, organized or not. And give them a suite for flavor.

Dr. Dungeon's one of my favorites from M&M 1e's Meta-4 universe. He was an archaeologist who found that suit (well, he added the swank cape and gloves) in an Indian burial mound in southern Ohio. He found that with a thought, he could fire blasts from his hands and make people disappear into the hole in the chest. So he ran around, calling himself Dr. Dungeon, like any good silver age villain.

Except the suit's actually what some intergalatic cops wear, and when he makes people disappear, they go to an incarceration planet full of the worst criminals in the galaxy.

The Clique is the Meta-4 universe's obligatory teen villain team, suitable for young heroes to go up against.

The Other Woman - Duplicator who is effectively immortal because she can transfer her consciousness into her duplicates, which she keeps embedded into alternate lives all around the world. She's the real leader.

The Crush - Uses Orgone Energy (look it up!) to make heterosexual males do her bidding. Catty, shallow, and thinks she's the leader.

Jawbreaker - Rock hard impenetrable skin and super strength. Can't feel anything through touch and is understandably cross a lot of the time having grown up an ostracized mutant from the time she hatched at age 3 from the egg that her mother died giving birth to.

Pixie - Martial artist, assassin, can shrink down to the size of a doll. Pretty much a sociopath and only is part of the group because, hey, she gets to hurt people.

Wallflower - Shy tech whiz with a belt that lets her go intangible. She's got a good relationship with...

Boytoy - A prototype military AI that can transform into pretty much any sort of vehicle the girls need. The Crush used her powers to steal him, and he's got a weird fixation on Wallflower.

I think there was an old one mentioned a couple threads ago. Miss Majesty. Though that's more like a leotard than a catsuit.

There was some mention of her being a nemesis for Blue Cobalt? For what reason I can't recall.
>>47212224
I remember reading that on a /co/ storytime.

wasn't the embodiment of the Black Nekron?
>>
I think I'll expand DREAM SULTAN to fight against HAUNTER, because I'm interested in all the "sub teams" having a bad guy.

His deal with the Haunter is that he thinks he's helping her by killing Mad Mary. She's done nothing but hurt her, why does she feel the need to care for an irredeemable Id monster?

Thought-forms and the dreamlands both operate in Mental Earth, so Mad Mary is even more powerful in dreams than she is in reality, not having to "work through" matter to do what she wants.

I imagine Haunter travels the dream world as she sleeps helping people deal with their nightmares in a constructive way rather than removing them outright. Sometimes Wilbur and Otherthing pop in to help her.

SUB TEAM BADDIES

THE IMMORTAL: The Road Avengers (mostly Ghost O' Jarone)

THE DREAM SULTAN: The Nightmare Siblings (Mostly Wilbur)

LOW TIDE: The Coast Guardians.

Having Low Tide fight MADAM DELPHINE could look cool. Water zombies against water ghosts pirates.

M&M Powerhouse hero who's thing was absurd Damage resistance.

To qoute the thread she showed up in:
>She was a powerhouse with super strength and intense damage resistance, able to shrug off bullets and whatnot. This feeling of invincibility gave her an arrogance and need to act out, as she wanted to be challenged for once in her life. She also developed a masochistic streak, as she wanted a hero to finally punish her and become her better.

Like to join you! (M&M btw.)

Name is PARADOX

Age/Sex: 32, M

Lives in: St.Leninsburg (fictional city in russia)

Power: Manipulates Time and Space (up to 10sec to the past time travel ability, teleport in a 5m [16.5ft] radius)

Origin: Comes from another dimension of time and space. He escaped from a unpreventable galactical collapse and saves his ass in this dimension. In the other Dimension he was kind of a god but this dimensions time-space-continuum is different from his own and so his power is strongly limited here.

THE TRUTH

DECK SUITE: Hearts

A self styled "action reporter" who pursues the truth at all cost armed with his video recorder headset that updates constantly to his website. He developed teleporation, invisibility, and intangibility powers at a young age and can use these powers offensively, blinding others he turns invisible that do not have his special goggles and teleporting people away from him. While these powers make him formidable he is an overly-excited spaz prone to being distracted and surprised. He is regarded as low threat due to this and his nonviolence.

He could be a hell of an assassin or thief, but he doesn't' want to kill or steal. Rather he wants THE TRUTH.

THE TRUTH being what fits his warped narrative of history, for you see, THE TRUTH is a diagnosed paranoid schizophrenic. His powers disrupted his brain chemistry when they developed during his teenage years and he doesn't take his pills because CLEARLY the powers that be are putting tracking nanites in them.

He believes that super heroes are actually people possessed by "extra dimensional identity monsters" (think Thetans) that use super human people as hosts. Invading physic personas in other words. No one ACTUALLY good would have a secret identity. What does a good person have to hide?

The super heroes, you see, really control the world. But if you expose their secret identity to the world they go away, like learning the true name of a fairy.

Whats that about super heroes that already give their secret identity? CLEARLY a bogus front. WAKE UP SHEEPLE!

THE TRUTH investigates the world's most mysterious supers, usually becoming a horrible pest or even placing himself and others in danger by getting in the way of a fight (a CLEARLY staged super-performance). He's made it his life's mission to uncover the "truth" behind Extrahuman, Ms Cryptic, Lugaru, and Haunter-known collectively as CRYPTIC'S CREW.

-cont
>>
>>47212795
While he's not obsessed with them quite like is with CRYPTIC'S CREW FAIRY FINDER and VIRGINIA DARING are usually high on his "to bust" list.

Sometimes he has to pay the bills, usually by getting work through the Hollywood based "super paparazi" organization MASK BREAKERS.

One assignment found him make the juicy score of pictures of a nude Barnstormer, who at the time was going by the handle Country Gal. Her clothes were blasted off during a staged "fight" and the invisible photographer got her at all angles.

Stuntman used his CIA contacts to track him down and beat him black and blue for trying to sell the pics to the highest bidder online.

I've been brainstorming a villain for the Southern Statesmen, as I figured we atleast need one cowboy on each side of good and evil.

'The Huntsman' is the leader of a small gang of outlaws known as 'The 8 Legs', Southern criminals with a spider/old West motif that work for the highest bidder.

Huntsman himself had his mutant genes triggered when a particularly poisonous spider took a bite out of him, altering his genome in such a way that caused his arms to split into three pairs, a small pair of mandibles to now protrude from his mouth, and his eyes to have multiple pupils. The combination of enhanced eyesight and extreme dexterity with his many hands makes him lethal with any firearm.

Appearance wise he dresses in your typical 'bad' cowboy style with a black duster, hat and spurs etc., but also sports a pair of tinted goggles, a thick scarf around his mouth and wraps his extra sets of arms around his waist when trying to look a little less conspicuous.

Has a habit of snatching flies out of the air and snacking on them.

But the question is she proud of her legs or ashamed that they distract people from her other features?
>>
>>47212894
I think it would be cute if it were the later.

So her thing is that she goes around finding strong super heroines to brawl with, hoping to find one strong enough to fulfill her subconscious desire for domination?

Could there be a storyline where she puts on some sort of super heroine fighting tournament with herself as the final boss? Maybe MR RED and MR BLACK of the Vegas based ROULETTE help her set it up, kidnapping several VIPS and having WAXWORKS replace them?

Could a super heroine fighting tournament work? Who all would make the roster?

More like she robs a bank, walks casually through the police blockade with bullets bouncing off her, and wondering when someone will show up to stop her before she leaves. She's a public menace because she wants attention and a challenge.
>>

Im realy surprised that anybody is realy interested in his Gauntlet. Paradox gauntlet has, as far as i played the character, no realy background. Its a Weapon from a Future of his old Dimension but its nothing realy special. Until know it alows him to shot heat-rays and adds more stength to his right arm (4 times stronger then a human). It is possible that the Gauntlet has an AI that never shows up until now. But as far as he knows he already know everything about this Prototype-Weapon from a far future.

>Who will make this villainy thing all worth while?
>I'm so bored.
>This is just too easy.

All before getting into a fistfight with Captain Justice or Blue Cobalt.

and speaking of captain justice. Did this sketch a while ago. but since he's a sort of armor hero now i might as well post him.

I was definitely picturing a sort of "big guy" style robot suit.

I was thinking of calling him "Big Iron" as a reference to big o and that one song from Fallout.

>>47213108
>Duelist rather than a lewd angle

Cape comics roll with the tone. In a more comedic story like "super heroine fighting tournament in Las Vegas" he lewd aspect can be played up. In a more serious story her duelist aspect is played up.

I wonder how she'd interact with that Connecticut Statesman that used swords? I want a story where they're in a running fight over stealing a legendary sword and eventually grow to respect each other because they had so much fun chasing after the sword and taking it back form one another.
>>
Hey guys im new to the system of M&M and will try to launch a playgroup soon. Im not so sure about the Power Level and i would be glad if you could give me some good examples for the Power Levels from 1 up to 20 so i have a good idea of what kind of heros my playgroup could create in which kind of Power Level.

System is 2nd Edition by the way
>>
>>47211490
>Spades: Conquerors. Doctor Dooms and Kangs.
depending on whether Aces are high or low, Overlord Darkness is probably either Spade Ace, or Spade King rank(definitely thinking that much The Statesmen are a relatively loose team, DECK would be a relatively loose bad guy organization, mostly existing to catalog villains, and acting as a sort of cross between a Trade/Labor Union, and Social Network for villains, to try and minimize the infighting and other issues that tend to hamper villain interactions otherwise)
>>
>>47213231
The default is PL10, which is roughly Avengers-tier. PL12 is Justice League-tier, and PL8 is the top end of street-level.
>>
>>47213270
I'm still of the opinion that the Card Deck is simply a loose classification system used by the government for ease in categorizing villains. The suit determines their domain, and their rank determines how big a player they are in the grand scheme of things.
>>
>>47213270
Aces are definitely high.
>>
>>47213270
>to try and minimize the infighting and other issues that tend to hamper villain interactions otherwise
But villain in-fighting is hilarious. Why is it the heroes who always have to fight each other?
>>
>>47213298
that doesn't make much sense unfortunately, unless there are only 52 villains in the country.
I'm still supporting the idea of having the House of Cards be a villainous secret society, but people apparently have issues with that.
>>
>>47213298
It's just like the game Mercenaries. Every bigwig in North Korea is assigned a card in the "playing deck."

>>47213312
I'm not saying there are only 52 villains in the country. I'm saying any given villain of a particular "weight" in the same field would share the same card rank. You can have multiple instances of a "10 of Hearts," for example.
>>
>>47213312
Both sound like good ideas to me
>>
>>47213312
As a classification system there's any number of "2 of diamonds" or "1 of spades". It's just a general power ranking combined with a modus operandi.

It's possible the "Desk system" classification system was inspired by an actual organization that uses 52 super members.
>>
>>47213312
It would probably be easier if there were just a society that happens to use the playing card motif, as it would lend more credence to any government-established threat system. Using the playing card deck is more artsy-fartsy than just saying a villain is threat rank 10 (PL10 in M&M).
>>
>>47213354
i tend to agree, but some anons felt that if we started building villainous teams it would obstruct organic storytelling.
>>
>>47213367
Well we still need villains and villain teams can be fun.
>>
>>47213354
Hell, the Threat Report book for M&M 3e outright uses PL ranks for the villains.

>>47213367
I guess the issue is that using the playing card deck makes the scope of the would-be organization feel so, I dunno, narrow. Plus, building a faceless national conspiracy right off the bat may overshadow any created villain attempting to stand on their own. The Legion of Doom didn't just come out of nowhere.
>>
So Next thread should focus on BAD GUYS, yes or no?

What we really need is a five member band to fight the Generals. Anyone want to randomize a team of five bad guys?

We randomized an Indian assassin earlier, could she be in, or is she too lame to be on the "anti-Generals" team?
>>
>>47213309
>But villain in-fighting is hilarious. Why is it the heroes who always have to fight each other?
well I didn't say they were completely successful, just enough that the bigger egos aren't always blowing up cities when they clash

also felt that we needed a Guild of Calamitous Intent type of group, and DECK sounds like a good fit for this sort of thing
>>
>>47213469
I'm pretty sure a couple people started quick-generating villains in a previous thread (>>47104581, to be specific).

In fact, there were two of them. One was a teenage vampire, and the other was basically an evil Human Torch. I'll see if I can't recover the exact statblocks.
>>
>>47213469
Yeah next thread should be villains
>>47213495

>>
>>47213495

That sounds like a good idea of what DECK should be. They don't really have an agenda, they leave that stuff up to their individual members, they're just the glue that holds the super villain community together.
