Welcome back, to the fifteenth chapter of Mecha Space Pirate Quest!

As always, you are Admiral Roarke Susan Starwind of the Iron Kestrels space pirate fleet, master of the starship Rhinehawk, and pilot of the terrifyingly crit-prone Knuckle Kaiser.

Last time, as in a few hours ago, you destroyed a boss fight with your fists. Then, you and your dangerously weeby subordinate Oda Yoritomo melee'd a starship to death. This time...

"Aniki, that was sugoi! Absolutely sugoi! We showed them the depths of our warrior spirit! Like twin shinobi, brothers sharing the blood of Japan, we burst upon them and tore their tainted machines like cheap rice paper!" The Osano-Wo claps the Knuckle Kaiser on the shoulder as the three of you fly back towards the Rhinehawk, "I know that Ozark-sama is smiling warmly in tengoku, surrounded by waifus."

"Is this some sort of pirate slang?" Samantha Blanchett asks, her S-Betta decloaking to hug onto the Knuckle Kaiser's other arm. She probably feels left out.

You smile at her over the vidcomm, "It's a Storm Dragon thing, don't worry about it."

She frowns a little, "Oh. What's a why-foo?"

Oda opens his mouth to explain, and you cut him off, "It's like a very special girl. Like you. Or Karen."

She looks incredibly pleased with herself.

The Rhinehawk and Yamato are alright, although the Yamato has some cosmetic damage from being mauled by the cruiser's beam cannons and is completely out of missiles. Oda breaks company with you to return to his own ship and, you suspect, the adulation of his crew for striking a killing blow.

Maximum smooth
>>
I remember a few threads ago we talked about changing the uniform for the Kestrels to 80s clothes do we still want to do that
>>
>>47147391
Whatever we do, garterbelts are a must!
>>
>>47147391
Ehhh, don't go too overboard. Got to keep it classy.
>>
>>47147441
Leather never goes out of style.
>>
>>47147441
Alright so all bridge bunnies have to wear 80s bunny outfits got it
>>
Jeebus people let them decide what to wear. But definitely get Sam and Karen into some garter belts and stockings though.
>>
Karen has her nose pressed against a viewport, and as you fly by uninjured she smiles. When you turn the Kaiser's head towards her she presses her lips against the plasteel, smiles, and turns away, likely to meet you in the mech bay. You only have a momentary glimpse, the viewport seems to be one of the ones in her suite of rooms...but it doesn't look like she has any clothes on.

By the time you escape the mechbay, your back and shoulders are sore from being patted so many times, you have a woman clinging to either arm, and your blood is pumping with adrenaline. "BEER!" You declare, a single word encompassing a thousand flavors of victory and celebration, and the Iron Kestrels cheer. Even Fatima is smiling, despite the damage you've done to her wedding present. Apparently, the Bluegill pilots who returned before you spread the story of what happened, and many of the younger ones are regarding you with awe bordering on reverence. After all, you're the one who tore the gaping cavity through the Tarrasque with your fists.

The crowd practically carries you to the bar, where Karen gets you a beer and Samantha pops the cap off the capsule with the ornate handguard of her UJCIDF officer's saber. You can't remember ever drinking anything that tasted this good in your life. The curved, scarlet bar is surrounded by a throng of your friends and crewmates, everyone trying to talk to you, but you could probably pick someone out to get a word in with if you wanted.

>[Who do you want to talk to?]
>>
>>47147493
Uniforms exist for a reason
>>
>>47147499
Set an open challange for anyone in the bar for Bluegill Joe, and lets give Moles and Richard a talk we havent talked to them in forever
>>
>>47147499
Anyone that wants to at least for a little bit. Definitely thank Karen for her work on the KK. Pinch Sams ass once or twice. Pick on Richard as he didn't really do anything while Miles was a pro.
>>
>>47147516
Aye. General camaradie and hanging with our crew should be done. Especially after such a victory. Maybe see the 5 no name pilots of the Bluegills? They did pretty good.
>>
>>47147516
>Bluegill Joe

That uses real dice mechanics and there have been far too many numbers for one night. Next time, however, I guarantee Bluegill Joe will happen.
>>
>>47147556
Alright then instead make sure we thank the doctor and have a drink with Athena
>>
>>47147568
Thunder she still a little kid. So if by drink you mean juice sure otherwise hell no. Also tired as hell so sorry if this sounds bitchy.
>>
>>47147592
Of course I meant something like juice or a soda
>>
>>47147499
Talk to Catherine Zeta Jones! We need her as our first person on the Knucklezerker squad.
>>
>>47147608
Just because the person can dodge in the mech doesn't mean the pilot is fit as hell. For all we know it's a fat dude.
>>
>>47147499
I'd say we should go check on the final condition of the Tarrasque and have a word with Fatima, but that's probably a lesser priority.
>>
Wong fell asleep!
>>
>>47147499
Also the message to Clemmy from last thread. She needs to party with us too.

"Karen, the Kaiser flew really we-" And then you're cut off, her fingertip against your lips. Her nails are practically short and unpainted, and despite her cute appearance her hands aren't as soft as one would expect...she does spend all day using a wrench, after all.

"Shhh. Let's not talk about the Kaiser right now." She says softly, with a secretive little smile. You blink. Karen not wanting to talk about mecha is absolutely unheard of, "I just want you." She cozies up to your side and rests her head on your shoulder while the three of you drink beer. You pinch Samantha's backside, and she jumps with a squeal. You pinch Karen's, and she laughs and pinches yours back, blushing but undeterred.

"Oi, Roarke, you too busy for us?" Richard grins, suddenly looming over you. Miles is riding piggyback on him, the sniper positively reeking of liquor.

"No, man. Sit down, find a...I don't know, a bag to put Miles in or something, she's small enough."

"Fuck yoooouuu Cap'shn. I cans drank as mush as my man if I wannnttoooo!" She unsteadily raises her middle finger at you.

You look back at Richard, "I've been trying not to ask, but how the hell did you two get together? How many times did she say you smelled like a farm back when...you know, back before?"

He chuckles. He's a quiet sort of human, with a gentle personality, "Ah, it's because of you. When we thought you were dead, both of us were pretty broken up. Neither of us wanted to leave the Kestrels, but neither of us wanted to lead either, and when it was looking more and more likely that there wouldn't BE any Iron Kestrels in the future...I don't know, Dude. She just sort of comforted me, and I comforted her, and after a few nights together we realized what we were really scared of leaving most was each other."

"So you're saying you owe me for getting the two of you laid." You smirk magnanimously.

>>47147645
Pretty sure she'll try to shanghai us and anyone of note around us for her squad the moment she lays eyes on us in person, and murder everyone else - probably singlehandedly.

Hell, she might even succeed.
>>
>>47147620
I don't know about that. The Irok Kestrel is filled with pretty women. I wouldn't be surprised if Catherine Zeta Jones was one too.
>>
>>47147665
It'll all work out all we have to do is show dominance and fuck the absolute shit out of her asap
>>
>>47147675
Or we could kill her? Heresy I know but she really doesn't seem worth the trouble. Course imma be yelled at for this.

Nah, all she really needs is a hug

He refuses to take the bait, and disarms you by appearing to consider the question seriously, then nodding, "Indeed."

"That was a joke, Richard."

"Indeed." You notice he's grinning behind his long, braided, blonde beard as he takes a long swig of his beer. You do the same, finishing yours off and handing it to Samantha, who neatly tosses the empty capsule to the bridge bunny on bar duty. It's Maya, this time. She isn't doing as good a job as Brunhilde does, too busy cooing over Avi for his hard work recently while he looks embarrassed. You're still not sure you approve of the age difference between them, but you're not going to ruin this for Avi, he's a good kid.

"So when are you going to stop letting your wife wear the pants in your relationship? I noticed she's getting more kills than you." You grin, and you see the comment actually reach him.

The big guy sputters, "That isn't true! We're even since getting the new machines. Although...the new kid is ahead of both of us on kills. He found some kind of weapon in the military laboratories, one of the Harpy officers had it until he cut its arm off with his vibro-gladius and took it for himself. Some kind of weird miniaturized flamethrower with a coherent jet of plasma magnetically contained with an A-Particle field." He shrugs heavily, "I offfered him a spare axe if he thought the sword he had wasn't sufficient, but he seemed pretty happy with that weapon he found, wouldn't stop swinging it around the whole way back to the Rhinehawk."

"I only punch the finest Tulwars." You start on your next beer, "He'll be a good officer someday. So, you and me, Bluegill Joe. Tomorrow. I'll consider bringing a few of the other guys in." He grins again, and nods, and you clink your beers together. You spot Doctor Clancy nearby, and Fatima lurking in a corner taking tiny sips from a beer capsule, and decide to talk with one of them next.

...In a moment. First, you get out your PC.

>First, you get out your PC.
Clemmy hype!
>>
>>47147695
Yeah, she has to carefully maintain her facade of being slightly unhinged so no one notices how she's actually batshit insane.

I'm not sure how well a relationship with her would work out, unless she displays hidden depths she hasn't yet shown, or she gets character development that makes her more stable. Sticking your dick in crazy is almost never a good idea.
>>
>>47147769
>Roarke is actually going to do his space taxes for the remainder of the thread

Hope your brought your calculators
>>
>>47147776
We already dicked ourselves a crazy one. Samantha is going to ditch her career to play moral compass to a bad boy pirate she met after one date.
>>
By the way, I wonder how much Yoritomo is going to make off selling Roarke bodypillows to impressionable Jovian women.
>>
>>47147785
>implying Roarke isn't going onto 256chan to shitpost in High Seas Pirate Quest about his waifu Bluebell

Probably enough to buy a second ship. Hell, it'd be a hit for both the ladies and the men.
>>
>>47147820
Less then us witb our mech fight videos and cover albums
>>
>>47147808
I think you underestimate just how crazy Clemmy could potentially be. Her dere is probably just more yan.

In comparison, Sam may as well just be a schoolgirl in love.
>>
>>47147808

Fun fact about Samantha, and by extension Jesus. Roarke is a little weird because his Cool is maxed out. They're both a little weird because they both have extremely high Empathy. Samantha knows that Roarke isn't a bad boy and doesn't think she can change him, he's more of a good-hearted criminal and she can put up with that for the sake of how she feels. Meanwhile, Jesus can TELL Roarke is a criminal AND laughing at him all the time and that fact makes him fucking furious.
>>
>>47147846
Like a bitch.
>>
>>47147820
I wonder how much we could make by leveraging off our newfound fame and releasing albums of ourselves covering all the songs on our mixtapes?
>>
>>47147822

Karen's the one who canonically posts on imageboards. Avi probably does too.

Karen is much, much better at shitposting though.

Potentially alot we even have an into the business with Red Siren and we can have her on the album to boost sales
>>
>>47147846
Ahhh, the downsides of high empathy and low cool. Knowing when your rival is laughing at you but being powerless to do anything to him.

Seriously, I can just picture him go full CREEEEEEEEED on Roarke if we keep pulling stunts like this off.
>>
>>47147776
I'm justing waiting for her to turn out to be a top class psychopath; it's not just being unhinged, but her entire personality serving as a front for a calculating and methodical cold blooded killing machine. ACTING and/or presenting herself as crazy and unpredictable is her way of throwing others into situations where they have no chance if forming effective countermeasures against her on the ground and in battle, meaning she almost always has the upper hand. The knowledge that others can't pin down exactly what kind of person she is just makes her goals all the more easy to accomplish.

Bitch is a beast of psychogical warfare.
>>
>>47147878
Guys, guys, maybe we're overthinking the Clemmy is YANdere part. Emphasis on the Yan part.
>>
>>47147846
I imagine that Jesus also gets a massive helping of self righteousness generated denial/repression, what with Roarke being a fundamentally better person than a significant portion of his superiors. He almost certainly can't accept or admit it, and that likely drives him insane. Possibly to the point were he might actually crack.

Come to think of it, he's likely going insane just being in SOULS B. Even as a cliche protagonist knock off, there are limits to how much he can rationalize. The mid session realization has a good chance of killing him.
>>
Guys don't forget Clemmy actually really likes us. We dodn't just set off a waterfall in her pants, we set off a waterfall in her heart
>>
Welp. It's 3 AM over here, so I'm tapping out. Thanks for the session, Wong!

You select the image of a pretty blonde girl. You keep the screen as small as possible, halfheartedly listening to Samantha and Karen talking. Apparently they really are friends now. Samantha is telling Karen about the upper-class estate she lived on as a little girl, Karen is slightly bewildered by her descriptions and the sheer number of different types of servants there are. You figure you're safe, so you send another message to Clemmy.

'So I didn't die today. But more improtantly, as promised *Thumbs Up*. Get some popcorn. When you finish, unspoiler the sentence, answer me two questions. One, have you seen this much metal get demolished before? Two, why aren't you a pirate with me already? You know how much fun I have.' You attach video, send it...and notice Karen and Samantha have stopped talking, they're both looking at you with a mixture of worry and curiosity.

They exchange glances, but Karen speaks first, "It's her again, isn't it?"

Samantha nods sagely, "It's got to be her, yes."

Karen sighs, "No, no, don't say it. It's okay, our Roarke is a big boy who can make his own decisions. He won't learn if we just drop a colony on her." She sighs regretfully. You hope she's joking.

"That wouldn't kill her. She'll just keep coming until she catches him. I know what it looks like when you hit someone right in the heart, she's in love." Samantha shakes her head.

"What, really?" You interject. The two of them look at you and nod firmly.

"She volunteered to personally lead a strike mission to capture you. The Colonel said no, and the General apparently didn't like the fact that she insisted it was a recruitment mission. I sort of didn't tell her about us, by the way, I didn't want to get chopped up with a box cutter and scattered somewhere nobody would ever find me, and besides, it was a nice change at work having her be nicer to everyone."

"Roarke's a magic man." Karen says confidently, "He's got magic hands."

You've avoided it long enough. You can't just sit by and let them insult a woman who isn't even here, even if she does have that...that sort of bloodthirsty madness in her eyes. Hell, you're pretty sure you look pretty scary when you fight. "She's not as bad as all that. Besides, someone being in government employ hasn't stopped me until now. We're all a little insane, right?"

"Roarke, she asked me if I thought 'Mrs. Alice Clementine Farragut Starwind' had a good ring to it. Then she said it was fine if it didn't because she was sure you could take her name and be a househusband instead." Samantha gazes up at you with big, pale eyes, sipping daintily at her beer.

"Sam, that's 'nuff. At least she's not Red Siren. I mean, if her feelings are real, it's fine, right? He beat up that...that monstrous thing, I'm sure he can protect himself from a fangirl." Karen shrugs. When exactly did she become this mature? You're not sure, although you're not exactly happy about her badmouthing Red Siren either. After all, you care about all of them. Briefly, you wonder how you were won over by winking cat smileys and PC messages, but there are a lot of ways for people to express what's in their hearts.

"Neither of you would be happy about it if they talked about you that way, right? I promise, nobody is going to stop me from being a pirate." You hug them both, to keep it from sounding like a scold, and they shift to sit halfway on your lap. Samantha rests her head on your arm, while Karen strokes your hair.

"Yo, Admiral, you...uh, you're busy." Doctor Clancy looks away, into his beer. The big guy who made the big Tarrasque gives you an awkward grin and toasts you with his drink, "Thanks for the stress test, I'll have to remember that the rear pod isn't as sturdy as the rest of the structure. Next time, I think I'll use a more durable design, I should be at least able to double its structural integrity with some work."

"You should stay on with us, I promise it's more exciting than a colony posting or being on Mars."

To his credit, Duncan looks like he struggles with his decision. Finally, though, he shakes his head, "Can't do it. I've got a daughter, and I can't take that chance. I want her to grow up happy and safe, without any trouble with the law, if I can. You're still a damned fine pilot and a good man, Roarke Starwind." He sticks out his hand with a grin, and you shake it. You can respect his logic, after all, "Keep in touch, alright?"

"Oh, I will, with you and Cornelius both. Old fella's got a good head on his shoulders, reminds me a little of my dad. We've had some good talks about how to improve the Tarrasque already. Be good to his granddaughter, now. She'd make a good wife." The Doctor grins even more, and Karen chuckles with embarrassment, hugging your arm.

He moves on, seemingly doing his best to enjoy what limited free time fathers tend to have, and you notice Fatima edging her way closer and closer to your seat, doing her best to make it look coincidental.

Are you sure Doc? You could make a name out here. Finally show those big wigs how wrong they were about you. The Knuckle Kaiser needs someone like you to upgrade it. I trust in your judgement and your skill. I would be glad to be able to use next generation mech fighting tech that you develop. To levels that the prototype Zam wouldn't be able to reach. I fought your mech out there Doc, It's the toughest mech I've fought before. I even had to get help from 2 other aces and 5 of my most trusted men. Everyone on this crew is my family. I would fight until the last breath to make sure they are safe. Karen here was born and raised on the Rhinehawk you know? Your daughter would be safe too. They'd need a fleet put her in danger with the Knuckle Kaiser and the Rhinehawk protecting her.

"Oh, and Duncan..." Before he leaves, you show him the picture of the scowling Keith Young on your phone, "I got this little bastard back for you a little." You grin, and he bursts into raucous laughter before going to get another beer, seeming genuinely overwhelmed by mirth as he goes to give pointers to the technical crew.

Next, you focus on Fatima, calling out to her, "There's plenty of space over here." You try to keep your voice from having any innuendo in it, but you swear you see a hint of dusky rose in Fatima's cheeks as she takes a defiant swig of her beer.

"No there isn't. Besides, you shouldn't be so cheeky, I will soon be married and in charge of the Commodore's household." She smiles wryly, "I just wanted to wish you luck with your harem and...well, to make a small request."

"The Tarrasque?" You ask. You saw this coming. Frankly, as much as you want to say no, some part of you wants to say yes.

She nods, "I will not ask you to give it to me, only to repair it and treat it well. I will try to convince Rashad to buy it from you when we are wed, if you didn't bankrupt him." She smiles fondly, "I hear he is a very aggressive man, he must have haggled monstrously with you."

You frown, "No, he actually didn't. He just agreed to my price, set a time and date, and swore vengeance. I'd almost think it was a Martian custom if my new crewmates weren't so level-headed."

She snorts daintily at you, "I am perfectly level! Why, I am the very model of dignity and...did you say he didn't haggle? At all? He didn't try to talk you down from the price? Did you threaten my virtue or something in the conversation, anything to make him think you would harm me if he didn't agree at once?"

"No. Not that I remember. No, it really was nothing besides the usual. Why? Is something wrong?" You notice the look on her face.

"It just doesn't feel right, Admiral Starwind. He should have at least tried to get you to lower the price, it is expected. May Allah protect you."
