>Back again with another installment of vampire civ! We continue the adventures of Count Marius Le Vieux. Here are the previous Threads:

The nights have been cooler than normal. But the flurries of snow at night are quickly melted in the morning; most of the thralls resort to wearing warm kitted sweaters most nights. While you survey the landscape from one of your most complete towers, laborers begin the work of lugging heavy scientific equipment to the top floor; each thrall knowing that it will be his life if he drops anything. An elevator runs through the center, as to load carts full of cadavers to the laboratory but hasn’t been completed yet. Bartholomew has done a fantastic job on the décor, gruesome gargoyles over look the grounds, while stone murals depict gory battle scenes from days gone by. All of the rooms of the castle are empty, without the trace of furniture. This makes any sound echo loudly down halls.

Your fallen foe, The Arrow, has been put under a spell to preserve his corpse from decay. Though you have had fun hanging his body from his tendons like a pig. But even this cannot dissuade your lingering worry about who sent this hunter to your doorstep, and so soon after you had awakened. None of the villagers could have known, and they suspect you less of your true nature after saving Maria.
>>
>>46942288
You have struck up a correspondence with Maria, sending letters in fine stationary and receiving letters in return; some laced with perfume of lilac. You have found that she is a well read mortal, and not simply a wallflower; though you knew this after seeing her dispatch The Arrow. You will wait for the right moment before you present the choice of unlife, but for now, you’ll try to accumulate more power and influence over the town. You think that it might be easier to simply begin making more thralls, ghouls, and lesser vampires to take the town. But you also enjoy mingling mortals, and perhaps you can rule in such a way that is beneficial to the mortals(Many elders are slain, in large part, thanks to their cruelty).

Seconding.

As a bonus, we can use them as tireless miners. Start exporting tin, copper, silver, whatever we can dig out of the mountains.
>>
>>46942783
Hmm, wait instead of that, let's research alchemy or start making our lands fertile and suitable for farming.
>>
>>46942783
One way for income could be us hunting animals at night. Then dropping off the hide to worked on. Less drain on the human workers and more blood for us.

>>46942822
Than could be nice to give people fertilizers.
>>
>>46942822
Who said it wasn't? It must be good soil if there is a whole town living near by. Also, its getting colder, maybe winter is coming (braces for GOT jokes)
>>
>>46942784
>>46942822
If we send the skeletons out to mine, we can study alchemy to boost the value of the minerals. It would be better to have some humans do the fieldwork since we don't want our presence to be too obvious.
>>
>>46942864
We could make the soil even richer, though. Crops maturing at a fraction of the time, resistant to pests, and produce just generally being bigger and healthier.

Hey guys
>>
You think it is time to exercise your necromancy again. You feel naked without the hoards of the undead at your side, it would only be a matter of time before who ever sent The Arrow after you to hire more mercenaries. You go to the newly created crypts, where you have stored the bodies the Mayor has sent you, and begin your work. You take a couple of thralls with you, so that you can drink their blood as fuel for magic, so you wont be tired. You start with the collection of skeletons, as flesh and blood zombies are a bit more complex a creature to make. Red currents of energy reach out to the human ivory, like puppets. 30 Skeletons hope to life, their funeral cloths hanging on them loosely. You are please that this has not drained you completely, but take a sip from one of the thralls anyways. Again you turn to another pile of skeletons, this time from a mass grave; a lose assortment of bones all piled together. As you send out another torrent of red magic, you feel a great pull from the magic; once again you fear that you may have taken on too much. But thankfully the spell ends as a hulking form emerges from the pile. It was enormous! Towering over you, it is at least 10 feet in height. Cobbled together, it creaks and moans with the humanoid form of two legs and two arms.

Population: 1 Elder vampire(armed with a sword and pistol), 4 human thralls(armed with swords and bows), 4 human women(Armed with daggers), 8 human children, 30 skeletons (armed with a sword and bow), One bone golem. (Temporary: Bartholomew and his team of builders)

Blood: Hungry!

Technology: None

Alternately we could form a skeletal band

Happy with this new flex of your returning power, you send the skeletons with some of the tools at your castle and command them to find a mine… but they don’t seem to really understand the task. Aggravated, you tell your Thrall double to accompany them to establish a mine. Though this will take away from your most useful thrall, you know that the job will be done. You instruct him to inform the skeletons to only return with ore at night, so the towns folk are none the wiser. (This will take some time before you receive anything.)

As your new workers set off to mine. You receive a message from one of the other thralls that the workers from the village have seen strange things during the day, a white lady dressed in a billowing dress has been spotted near the walls of the castle. Some have reported that she will ask where her baby is, and vanish when ever they come close to her.

“The workers are scared to continue their labor, and since they are not thralls themselves. They can leave if they don’t feel safe, the village has always been quite superstitious” You think for a moment, this may have something to do with the recently unearthed graves that the mayor has sent to you. Restless spirits taking vengeance on the living for desecrating their corpses.

You tell the thrall that you will deal with this yourself, as mortals can do little in the face of these kinds of spirits; and that you expect work to continue as normal. Ghost are particularly difficult to find, as you cannot use your normal predatory senses to find them. You resort to using crude mortal occultism to find her, using Ouija boards and other such trinkets. After a few days, you manage to find this white lady. Roaming the graveyard, and passing through gravestones as if they where made of the same material she was. She turns her head like an owl, so that her head now faces her back.

“Have you seen my baby?....I seemed to have misplaced him. He’s a healthy size boy about three months old. I’m dreadfully worried for him.”

“My dear, you seem a bit confused, your child has lived beyond your care, and is no doubt a man. You on the other hand are a lost spirit, trapped on this mortal plane. I can help you if you wish for it.” In truth, ghost unnerve you, you have no soul; but the thought of a soul being twisted like this is a bit creepy.

“I want my baby! TAKE ME TO MY BABY!” Her jaw lowers, like that of a snake eating an egg. And rushes toward you. You dodge out of the way just in time, not entirely sure what would happen if she caught you; but you figure it cant be good.

“Madam please! There is no need for these hostilities” she makes another swoop towards you. This time she ectoplasmic form touches your arm, and you feel an extreme amount of pain. This ghostly essence begins to be absorbed by you, but you feel less control over your body. She is trying to possess you! Desperately you pull up magical wards against such attacks, but as a soulless being you have more difficulty than if she had attacked a mortal.

“Please! If you spare me, I shall help you find your child! I swear it! I have too many plans to accomplish before I go to hell!” the ghostly woman looks at you, still trying to control you body as her own

“Do you swear to help me? Life drinker?”

“I swear it on all the princes of hades. I promise that I shall find you son. As long as you assist me in my goals along with me, you would be bound in my service for as long as I walk this earth.” The ghost ponders this for a moment, each second another loss in the battle to stay in control. And then…

“I accept these terms. I shall bind myself to you lord of night, in exchange you return my son to me. And if you fail, or break our agreement, I will personally see to it that you will meet those princes of hades myself!” She stops her attack, and her features return to normal… floating above the dense graveyard grass….

Several months pass, the snow finally deciding to fall and linger across the land. The ghost, who’s name is Judith, roams your crypts; keeping watch for any other lingering spirits of the dead. She promises to try and persuade any who are reasonable, and if they are unreasonable, she will assist in fighting them with your help to gain another soul for your magics. You are weary of being around her, you will make sure to keep good on her promise, not wanting to face her wrath again.

>>46948508
Yes. All is good
>>
Scrying… it was never an art you mastered before. Preferring not to deal with the spirits of the dead. During your mortal years, you had been pretty abysmal at magic, but your immortality helped where others would have simply died before gaining any real talent at it. Still, new magic is difficult. With your lab halfway build, you look on your meager bookshelves for anything on the subject. You leave strict instruction for the construction of the lab to be done during the day, as to not disturb you from your studies. You learn about how objects and pieces of the spirit’s former body could help in contacting the dead, and for the instance of finding relatives and determining the bloodline of children (which is popular for women who wish to know the true father of their child). You summon Judith to the lab, and ask where her remains lay

“It would be at the crossroads, I was hung for my adultery and so was not given a Christian burial. They would have buried me with thieves, witches, and other such devil worshipers”

before sending two of your thralls to investigate the location of her son, you tell them to bring a cart to the crossroads out of the town, and bring back any remains they find. After bowing and backing out of the room, you continue to study. There are a number of more advanced books, you are told, in the larger human and nonhuman towns; but they tend to go for enormous amounts of money. The best at the shops in the City of Kurk

“The problem sire, is that books are hard to replicate. To make a new book, each page is hand written. Though scribes who can transcribe copies of books are well paid.” Your thrall says, returning after instructing the skeleton workers on building mines “But I have excellent news! Copper and Iron are plentiful in these mountains, it is good that the castle has such a bad reputation for being haunted, as no one has dared come up here to mine it themselves.”

What the thrall said about coping books struck you as odd. “What do you mean? Don’t you mortals have printing presses anymore?”

“A what, m’lord?” he asks, clearly perplexed.

“A printing press you dolt! It’s a way of making…” a wicked smile grows slowly on your face as you realize what this means. You have knowledge from days before the collapse of human society knowledge that can possibly make you a very very rich immortal. You psychically tell the mayor to send every black smith in town, that their services would be needed immediately and with the upmost urgency. Unfortunately the sun is about to rise, so for the meantime, you rest; giddy at the possibilities. The following day, as you float out of your crypt, the two thralls you sent out have been standing by your tomb apparently waiting for you to awaken.

“M’lord, we have done as you have asked. We dug every blaspheming corpse we could find. Unfortunately, the corpse have decayed pretty badly. Animals and the like apparently like to dig up the remains. But we brought everything we could find, and left a huge hole where the crossroads used to be.”
>>
>>46950756

“Excelent! You have done well slaves. Now be gone, I have pressing business to attend to!” Things seem to be falling into place, with each step bringing you closer to your dominance over this land. You would attend to the scrying after you met with the blacksmiths. Three burley men in tunics and aprons stand before you in one of the empty castle rooms. You explain that you would be hiring their services in building a new machine, one that would press tiny lead letters onto parchment. You explain the basic mechanics, showing roughly drawn blueprints of the machine; you are no engineer, but you understand the basic premise.

“This is truly inspired Count Le Vieux! I am sure we can build something to your specifications. But there is the issue of payment. For what you are asking for, we’d need to tinker her for extended periods of time, perhaps make a forge here to use your own ore, and that would take away from our normal business in town.”

>Your payment is the chance to be my slave! (attempt to thrall)
>You will be rewarded, after the job is done?
>I cannot pay you, but I will allow you to sell the machines as your own invention. (Give them credit for inventing the printing press)

Also this.
>>
>>46950781
>You will be rewarded, after the job is done [lie]

Hypnotize them to make them buy that bullcrap. Then thrall them one at a time later while they're working on the press.

Meanwhile let's go on a hunt and talk to MAria again.
>>
Thrall the blacksmiths, we need skilled workers for the ore we are getting.

F. Let's make more skeletons for our mine, and then start selling our new invention to the King of the damned in Kurk. Let's get friendly with the big guy before we knock him off this throne! I'd also give us a chance to get newer spell books.
>>
>>46950888
This m8s
>>
>>46950914
>Let's get friendly with the big guy before we knock him off this throne
The appearance of another elder vampire (assuming he is one) will be only viewed as a threat. If we do this, we should make sure to only deal with him indirectly and not hint that there's something fishy about us. I suspect he might even be able to sense what our thralls are. Until we're ready to march on his domain caution is the best policy.
>>
>>46950914
Vampires will not trust other vampires, Anon. There are only a few of us and I doubt the other vamp would even want friends.
>>
>>46950888

Adding to "hunt" vote:

Find a suitable animal for our first transmutation experiment in our new lab.
>>
How are we going to turn Maria to the dark side? Should we just try to influence her to long for power/immortality, or something more elaborate?
>>
>>46951157
We can influence her with our dick. Seriously, though, with the mayor's help and blessing, we can take Maria.
>>
>>46951219
We could have taken her a long time ago, but we decided against it because we wanted her to join us willingly.

I think we sort of subtly hint over time that we can grant her great power, and eventually she'll ask us herself. There's just the problem of making her want it.
>>
>>46951219

As stupid as your first option was, it might actually work.

We're an Elder Vampire for crying out loud! For all we know, our unholy bed skills can render girls a permanently brain dead, frothing-at-mouth mess.
>>
>>46951275
She is falling in love with us. In time, she will.
>>46951307
After a two thousand year nap, I think we will be rusty. Unless you want to practice on our thralls.
>>
>>46951307

I actually have to second this.

Sure, it sounds Magical Realm, but it makes total sense that we have some cum-drunk abilities being an immortal being of pure power.
>>
>>46951351

I think we've been awake and about long enough.
>>
>>46950781
>>You will be rewarded, after the job is done?
Something this big will gain them more than we could pay now. Maybe even give a small cut of profit.

As for action we could help out and make them feel better about the payment.
>>
>>46951275
I agree, I like how the plot is going with maria. and we don't need to make this thread an erotic one. (especially with all you fa/tg/uys here)

Through your clever words, and much help from your hypnotizing gaze. You are able to convince them to take payment at a later date. The men begin work saying they will come the next week with their tools, apprentices, and materials for a forge; lucky for you, the room is a perfect location for a forge. After bidding them a good evening, you take it upon yourself to visit Maria before this business with the Judith. You take to the skies once again, landing in a back alley near the manor in town. You knock on the door, one of the servants answering. After saying you have business with Maria, they ask for you to wait in the parlor. The fire is warm, and the décor of mounted heads is a nice touch. Werewolf heads, kappas, and even the teeth of a lesser vampire decorate this room; and much more. The room seems a bit bigger than normal, thanks to a large mirror along one wall. You are careful, to position yourself so that you are not seen as a floating set of archaic clothing. You hear Maria approach the room.
>>
>>46952448
“Good evening Marius! It is good to see you again…on better circumstances.”

“Indeed, though I am sure I’d enjoy your company under worse” Maria blushes, hiding a barely suppressed grin.

“You are rather forward good Count. I must admit that I would feel much the same. People of the village are beginning to wonder about us” You approach her, nearing the distance between you and her fast beating heart. Almost like a chased rabbit, running from a wolf.

“Old women and jealous young boys will always talk. But I am not interested in them tonight…” You look about the room, at all the trophies on the wall. “Are these your fathers?”

“Goodness no, most of these are from old mayors. We haven’t had a monster attack in several decades. Since you’ve arrived, we have finally had something new to talk about. I was a bit freighted of the heads when I was a child … but now I feel different.” a sad expression shadows her face “After meeting that man, The Arrow, I feel that my head could be placed next to these monsters.”

>You mustn’t think that way!
>There are advantages to being dangerous

fuck it, who needs grades! keeping the thread open later!
>>
>>46952469
>You mustn’t think that way!
>>
>>46952469
>You could be so much more dangerous.

You do not have to be helpless. You have the potential to be far stronger than that man could ever dream. All it takes is a little ambition.
>>
>>46952546
If that goes to the predictable objection that most such sources of power come from evil, say something about it not being so black and white. Maybe hint that you didn't just save her with the standard mortal set of abilities.
>>
>>46952502
LOL that's the spirit op.

> there are advantages to being dangerous.
She is alive and a dangerous man is dead. All because she refused to be a victim. Plus we are alive, and we gave her to thank.
>>
>>46952546
>>46952615
Also you'd probably want to be a bit less obvious. This is the long con we're playing.
>>
>>46951157
She's already killed someone. Our next step should be engineering a situation where she kills an innocent. We want her normalized to and participating in our vileness when she learns of it.
>>
>>46952469
>There are advantages to being dangerous
>You could be so much more dangerous.
>>
>>46952629
>All because she refused to be a victim.
This is a good point to make in the response, I endorse this. She's killed someone, we need to make her accept this as necessary and admirable.
>>
>>46952469
>>You mustn’t think that way!
You only did what was needed to live. Any thing will do that when the time comes. Yet there are ways to not let those times come. Becoming stronger to stop them from happening is one.
>>
>>46952469
>you're no monster, maria, but consider that if you no longer fit amongst the innocent, you also make it clear that you are no victim for a predator to claim.
>>
>>46952754
And stroke her hair or something while saying so. Anything that we think would make her feel admired.

“You are no longer helpless. You have the potential to be far stronger than that man could ever dream, All it takes is a little ambition.”

“What do you mean?”

you are alive and a dangerous man is dead, All because you refused to be his victim. Plus I am alive, is that not enough to prove that some good can come of death?”

“I don’t wish to sound as if I wouldn’t have done the same thing again. You are a better man than The Arrow was. But why was it so easy for me? Am I evil?”

“I am afraid that the world does not work the same way as your books. The concept of good and evil is merely a convention of those who would limit your capabilities.” You hold Maria by the shoulders, a soft yet cold grip on her bare skin “You have killed someone, and you must accept this. You only did what was needed to live, and any creature would do the same for its own skin and kin. And there are ways to not let those times come. Becoming stronger to stop more Arrows from putting your life in their hands. You’re no monster, but like any boy who hunts with his father, you have blood on your hands. You are both you are neither innocent nor to blame; a unique position I might say….ACK!”
>>
>>46954132
A white hot pain sears your skin! Necklace of silver, with a cross of gold has been placed around you neck! You attempt to pull it off, but the supernatural weakness of your race makes this impossible. Smoke roils from where the metal burns its symbol on your icey flesh

“Stay back Maria! His honeyed words have snaked into your mind, but no longer!” It is Father Frollo, a crucifix held in his hand. Its power causes you to kneel to the floor; hissing through a fanged mouth. “I thought it was too good to be true to believe that something wasn’t amiss with you. I remember the time when we would be weary of strangers. Especially strangers from long dead households, who own ruined castles that have been own to be haunted by the likes of your kind.”

“Father! Please, I don’t understand!? What is happening?!” Maria screams, held back by Father Frollo.

“Look in yonder mirror, as I did when I looked through your window while he whispered sweet nothings in your ear.” She does so, and gasps “He has been seducing you my dear, convincing you to miss mass. To believe that your sins are something to be ignored, or worse, praised”

“Your wrong Father! Please, he has had many opportunities to… attack me. But he has been nothing but kind to me! There must be some mistake!”

“His influence is great over you, you are not thinking straight.” He calls for a maid, who has been watching the proceedings intensely “Hold her, she will try to fight you. Please lock her in her room, while I dispatch this fiend of Satan!” Kicking and screaming, Maria fights the large and portly maid as the scrabble up the stairs You try to summon the mayor, any of your thralls, but the power of the cross makes it hard to think.
>>
>>46954157

“You’ll find no help here imp!” A kick to the ribs shoots mortal pain into your side “I have seen through you as clearly as I see a fish in a river. Now, I send you to hell and the lake of fire. Good bye, Count Marius!” he takes a cane from a bin and snaps it in half, it would be enough to pierce your heart

…This is it, this is the end…
You are only half aware of what happens next. A scream from the upstairs and a loud thump. The priest halts, just before striking the final blow. There in the door way, Maria in bloodied clothes holding a sharp hairpin, that held her auburn locks earlier.

“My god, what have you done!?” The priest says, looking at her with an expression of shocked disbelief. You drift in and out of consciousness, the pain too much for you to bear. The next moment, you see the two wrestling to get the hairpin away from each other.

>Attempt to fight off the necklace and help Maria
>Maria will save you
>>
Hey OP, if you really do need to study for tests you probably should.

I feel bad when people miss out of arbitrary real life points to maintain a story.

though, you could actually write a short novel with the way you are going and make this story get you some cash.
>>

No reason why we should lay down and hope we get saved. Try to trip up the priest, but it must be Maria who strikes the killing blow.

>>46954236
And focus is important

>>46954183
God damn, Frollo is relentless.
I'd have thought that seeing us in a church, in the day, attending mass, and getting holy water splashed on us would have allayed his suspicions. That fucker.
