Stage 120: The Price and the Cost of Secrets.

Being the chosen executor of Amaterasu-Omikami's will to destroy important pats of Japan is not something you really wanted. Being a (mostly) moral and (fairly) kind hearted individual, you can see how someone who is going to do the job while doing the least amount of harm is at a disadvantage compared to someone who will just get the job done and damn the consequences. But that would make you more like Susano-Oh, and that guy is a dick.

More importantly, it has a tendency to lead people such as, oh, Ryuu Shinju to presume that you're a pushover. You've done a lot less killing and a lot more intimidation recently, though you did manage to impress one of the Twin Generals of Clan Ryo. The people you have killed, you have killed in secret, so most people aren't actually aware of how dangerous you are any longer. You're young and gaining power quickly, but you've only demonstrated that power to a select few. That makes this particular situation very dicey.

Ryuu Shinju is one of the three overseers of Clan Ryo, all of whom report to the spy master Himeyuri. She is a spirit-child born of a dodomeki youkai, the hundred-eye demons that see all and whisper secrets to cause trouble. It makes her immune to the power of elemental eyes of other spirit-children, while allowing her to see and be aware of everything hidden from even those potent visions. It's a little unfortunate because she's seen what Amaterasu-Omikami has written upon your cheeks. While Oh-sama might be aware of that as well, she's also aware that you have power not even the kami are allowed – the ability to direct true lightning from the clouds. She's smart enough to be very aware of what betraying your secrets means.
>>

>>46901221
Shinju has no such compunction, but she has a secret of her own – you might be the only person who has guessed at her true lineage, which means you are aware that she holds many more secrets than anyone should or anyone else is aware of. That she has so many secrets and isn't dead already suggests that she knows when to keep her mouth shut. At the same time, she's been preparing some kind of potion, concoction, or spell while you've been having tea with her. The threat of revealing how much she might know was enough to make her seriously consider a fight with you, despite the fact that she knows you are immortal (thank you, dear wife!) and that your power is balanced enough that you're a serious threat even though you are not wholly a demigod yet.

The fact that you and she are sitting in the garden area of Mikimoto Pearl Island a little after noon while the blissfully ignorant humans wander the walkways just beyond the trees and flowers of the garden is most likely planned on her part, but it doesn't mean that either one of you wouldn't be able to erect a Barrier instantly. Perhaps she was counting on you being reasonable, which is a fair assessment. You like being reasonable, it's a lot less bloody and it's hard to being the dead back to life. On the other hand, she holds a secret that could set Oba-san off and cause you a lot more trouble much sooner than you want.

She remains still, watching you with those piercing eyes of hers as she rests one hand on the cup of half-tea and half-tears, her steel-vaned fan closed and resting on her lap in one hand. You are seated more casually and unarmed, which would be a disadvantage for anyone but a Water dragonette. Shinju is undoubtedly aware of your left arm's unusual nature, and catching her by surprise with speed is most likely impossible.
>>
>>46901245
Of course, that ability of hers also means she's been aware of Oba-san's true nature right from the start. How deeply involved in the snake priestess' plans is she? Does she fear Oba-san, or serve her willingly? Hard questions, with important answers.

[] Break the tension by drinking tea and admitting you'll trust her.
[] Probe carefully by asking her what she thinks of Oba-san's plan.
[] Ask her when the last time she fought was instead of using secrets against someone.
[] Find out if she spoke to Oh-sama after the Twin Generals retreated.
[] Take a small test of her prowess by launching a simple but effective strike or two.

I wonder if Oba-san knows her true nature. If not, how would she even explain how she knows what she does? Maybe we should ask her about that.

Hi XS! How are you?

Important: clash, not fight.

Ryukusa does a lot of this with her wives

Ryukusa's comment several threads earlier suggests that while she might think Shinju is beautiful, and she might like Shinju's voice, Shinju's personality, mind, or both are definitely not attractive.

[+] A sincere apology and set your differences aside for the sake of peace and prosperity in all the land. Well, okay, this garden.

You lower your eyes first, unconcerned that she might try and attack you by surprise. She hasn't survived this long by being foolish. You slowly fill your teacup and sip from it, well aware that the tension isn't going to be broken by any action outside of of talking or a fight. “Tell me, did you speak to the Warlord Twins after they fled the island? I doubt you've been waiting on me this entire time.” You set the cup down, and she continues to stare at you. Not unexpected. Neither of you are so incautious as to let your guard down at such a critical point!

She does pick up the teapot, however, and slowly pour herself a full cup. It is interesting that as she does so, the strange liquid in her teacup increases, flowing up the stream of tea and into the pot, several ounces mixing into the strong tea. Subtle and dangerous. It's not impossible to poison a Water dragonette, only very difficult. It could also be a spell or potion of some sort. It's something to be aware of.

“I did not meet with them after, no, Ryukusa-sama. They were well on their way home by the time I arrived. You have been a very busy little dragon,” she comments slipping back into her garrulous exposition. Interesting that she's being so polite. Shinju is still very much on guard however. “I imagine they will have to make some difficult decisions after their defeat.” Well, she was here before they left, contrary to what she just said – unless she saw them in passing. Hmn. Hard to say, but that's pretty likely given her strange abilities.
>>
>>46902531
>I will never hear Himeyuri's sex-voice.
Shit.
>>
>>46902554
You lean more heavily on your arm as it rests on your elbow and let your tail lash lazily and very slowly. “So what do you think of the Oba's plans so far, Shinju-sama? I'm certain that you you've learned quite a bit more than anyone else has, and I'm even more certain that you've learned about her ultimate goals.” She's not buying the 'relaxed attitude' for an instant, even as she slowly lifts her tea and sips it one handed, adding more of the strange fluid to her cup. Maneuvering for position even now, just as expected of an intelligence operative.

“That,” she says calmly, “would be telling, which is what brought us to this impasse in the first place, Ryukusa-sama.”

You incline your head and sip your tea, locking gazes with her once more. “In that case, allow me to point out something you may not have considered.” That gains her attention. Well, focuses it differently, anyways. “This last move of hers was more than an attempt on me. I suspect, and I say this with all the intellectual prowess of a Water dragonette, that there are at least three other people she could have taken in aside from myself for use in whatever nefarious plans she is crafting.” Not even a twitch. “That at least one of those people can be counted among my family hints at the possibility of an exchange of hostages – them for my presence – being utterly pointless.” Still no reaction. “If she could possess, for instance, someone capable of defeating me, that would achieve her long range goal as easily as possessing me would.” No reaction still.

Damn. She's either tacitly supporting or refusing to get involved, but she's perfectly aware of what is going on in either case.

You narrow your eyes and study her carefully. “When was the last time you actually engaged in physical conflict, Shinju-sama?”
>>
>>46902591
That only seems to take her aback. Her feigned surprise would have fooled almost everyone else. “I am very well trained, Ryukusa-sama, but I personally prefer to avoid conflict altogether. I lack a great many of the offensive capabilities of my brothers and sisters in the clan, so I must make do with ensuring that those who try to escalate a conflict find it is in their best interests not to. In your case, I do not really have anything to truly threaten you with just yet that you would be willing to let me walk away with....isn't that right?”

[] Well, that may be the case, but it may not be the case.

“That wasn't really what I said, you know.” The hesitation is minute, but nothing compared to her other tells. Before she starts giving in to her need to monologue, you continue. “I asked you if what you were learning was worth your life. I never said anything about whether or not I'd let you live for knowing it.” Her eyes narrow and her grip on her cup tightens; there is no longer any tea in her cup at all, only that strange tear-like saline liquid. “After all, that piece of knowledge isn't exactly something anyone could learn easily, and the ability to learn it would be questioned very hard, and possibly lead to answers that might get you killed for something completely unrelated.”

This is really spurious logic; after all, you learned about her talent after you made the threat, but that doesn't mean what you are saying isn't true.

“The fact that Amaterasu-Omikami has come to me in person isn't really worth killing over, to be honest. I am sure that there are others who could claim something similar. It probably happens all the time to demigods. But knowing she approves of me as Horobi....that would be worth looking into by Oba-san. But when she asks how you learned this particular piece of knowledge....how would she react?”

There it is! That made her hesitate, really worry for the briefest of instants. She knows what Oba-san is all about, but doesn't trust Oba-san with her power. Himeyuri probably knows, but she might not know the depth to which it extends.
>>
>>46903630

Yup
>>
>>46903696
Pouring yourself and her more tea, you set the teapot down and pick up your contaminated cup. “I doubt that you lack all offensive capabilities, Shinju-sama. It might be subtle, rather than overt, but I doubt someone as skilled as you are has no power that isn't dangerous in some way. Dodomeki aren't particularly aggressive, but they are dangerous, after all.” You start to raise your cup, but true to her previously displayed skill, she give no indication that the cup of tea is anything interesting outside of how much closer to her it brings your hand.

Whatever else you might think of her, she's really quite skilled.

Lowering the cup as 'something occurs to you suddenly' she again gives no reaction at all. “Besides, you didn't answer my question, you know. You do owe me for the knowledge you've already gained: what DO you think of the Oba's plans? They could disrupt Clan Ryo as much as they give her what she wants. I don't really see her staying on as the leader of Clan Ryo after she ascends to stolen godhood, do you?” A flash of guilty consternation; she doesn't like that fact either. Another thought occurs to you. “She's going to need retainers and servants in her new heaven too. I don't suppose you were one of those, were you? Himeyuri would be, without a doubt....but as skilled as you are, you kept your secret too well perhaps....” THAT hurts; her eyes flash angrily and she looks at you seriously.

Seconding this point. I think we can make something out of this, even if not exactly an ally someone we can negotiate with.
>>
>>46904176
It's a figure of speech. Ultimately, it would require quite a bit that's different with Oba-san, but if Oba-san was supportive of others, this would have been so very different, frankly, I think XS would have pulled a Planescape on us with her.
>>
Next turn, we should point out that Himeyuri probably lost her privileged position due to what she ordered her subordinate to do.

Also, we should give Himeyuri a calligraphy saying both that we pardon her, and apologising.

It was needed and deserved, but we did wreck her life/threatened everything she has.
>>
>>46904202
Well, what she originally wanted was to protect Himeyuri from Ryukusa. That's why she's here trying to convince us they got the twins to go easy on Ryu-chan.
>>
In any case, we're not drinking this water-salt-thing at all.

We made a promise, I don't think we actually can. We could state our intent to kill chickens instead, though, since we have that wiggle room.
>>
>>46904347

Maybe, but maybe not.

I doubt she would have acted like this if it was just to ask forgiveness.

Not to mention that Himeyuri can call us herself.

Oh, we should ask Shinju for her phone, call Himeyuri, and talk to her like that
>>
>>46904355

Nah, we can pardon her, and say we do. We don't have to tell her about the chicken, just that she's off the hook this time, and leave her some cooked meal in her appartment
>>
>>46904355
Or we can say that Himeyuri's actions, making the best of the bad situation presented to her, have allowed us to pardon her in x and y way...not that we weren't hoping to find said way, because we really don't like to kill. Unless we have to. She should ask Ah? (the Water Oni general of Ryo) about our resolve.
>>
>>46904422

If we do a calligraphy of it, it'll probably be the sign for "forgiveness", written in a way that means we both give it and ask for it.

[+] Commiserate – Oba-san could have done this differently.
[+] Ask her what she really wants from this.

Before she can say or do anything more you lift your hand. “I'm sorry.” That takes her entirely off guard. “I'm sorry. Not just for saying that. I apologize for taking my irritation out on you. You didn't deserve that.” You relax, turning your cup in circles on the table, fully aware that drinking it would be asking for trouble. “Oba-san's desires have had repercussions on more than just my life. I forget how hard it is for others too. She's done some things that a priestess should be ashamed of having done, to her kamuy, to the people she is supposed to support, to my friends and by proxy to my family – even as new as it is.” You look at Shinju, who is schooling her expression very carefully. “It didn't really have to be this way, I think.”

It only takes a few seconds for her to adjust her thinking. “Apology accepted, Ryukusa-sama. Your secret is safe with me, as long as no one else brings it up. Even then I may keep my own counsel. As you say, it is a difficult ability to live with.” It's obvious she doesn't mean it's a difficult ability to deal with, but to survive having, especially in her position. “You are....not entirely what I expected of you.”

“My family helps with that,” you murmur softly. “It is painful you know. Being something I am not meant to be, being trained to be something that someone else needed. It has been very difficult to become what I am meant to be. I'm sure you can understand that too.” It's subtle, but the blood chemistry of sadness is starting to supplant that of battle. “Shinju-sama, what is it you truly want here? If it was to simply inform me that you tried to help because Himeyuri asked, she could have explained herself on the phone more easily, and personally. She didn't need you to do that."

“I do not know what you said to her, Ryukusa-sama, but I could see she was terrified. Her orders to us were clear – stop the Generals Two if we could. They could not be stopped, but I managed to....change their tactics.” Her seriousness is evident in her voice and expression, but more so in how she doesn't talk like she's been smoking marijuana for half the day. “Himeyuri-sensei is important to me. Not like Akari-san is to you, but she is important to me. Please rescind your curse and allow her to be free of you.” She lowers her head, and places her fisted hands on her thighs, eyes closed.

You run your finger around the edge of the glass, letting her see – because you suspect she can see without her actual eyes in perfect clarity, though that's you being paranoid perhaps – that you are considering her request very seriously.

[] Explain that you can't rescind your 'curse' but you accept her efforts and have forgiven Himeyuri's failure.
[] Tell her that it is not that simple but you will speak with Himeyuri about proper recompense.
[] Accept her request and tell her you will give it due consideration.
[] You can't do that entirely, but you won't necessarily hurt Himeyuri.
[] There is a way around the issue – but it will cost you, Shinju.

It's been mentioned before a long time ago, but the number of choices Ryukusa has is due to her Clever Mind and also because she has a smidgen of psychic ability. That smidgen is a lot stronger with Void under her belt.

It's presence in her choices is nor more obvious than it used to be, if you look carefully.

>>
>>46905761
I don't know if a demigoddess should possess their servants. But if we can posses Yui we should be able to possess Kiku if she allows it. she's had the training to cope with it so I think we'd need her permission or a rite to do that.

[X] Tell her that it is not that simple but you will speak with Himeyuri about proper recompense.
[+] A bit of the others, sincerely offer no repercussions.

“While it isn't that simple, Himeyuri owes me now.” Shinju looks at you seriously, listening attentively – attentively enough that you are certain she'll do just about anything to gain some kind of advantage, regardless of honor or ethics. “She's going to have to suffer a penalty somehow – this isn't a choice on my part, it's a fact.” You shrug mildly. “She's involving herself in the affairs of kami and youkai and worse. A human doesn't get to do that and escape unscathed, Shinju-sama. “Even if I forgive her failure....and even with your help it was a failure....she's going to suffer for it.”

She starts to say something, but you hold up your cup, rather like you would your hand. “BUT – I can accept the fact you did help. I don't see why she should suffer for failing something that I knew was nearly impossible when you managed to do even that much.” You might be a bitch to your enemies, but you really did put Himeyuri on the spot there. You're kind of surprised her subordinates managed anything at all. She nods slowly.

You make a move to sip from the cup and she merely watches. Guess she's not willing to trust you that far. You stop and set the cup down. This time her eyes barely flick towards it, and then to your serious expression, realizing she's been found out and refusing to express it. After all, if she acknowledges it, you can react to it. Oh well – you gave her the opportunity.

“Go back to Himeyuri, give her a kiss,” you start, making her blush angrily (~that~ you didn't expect), “and tell her she should arrange a private meeting between she and I, and when she does, she will sit down with me to a meal I will prepare. She will join me in eating that meal, and understand that she will have been awake ~before~ I placed the meal before her in that meeting place and that the preparation of the meal was from start to finish made with ~very raw~ ingredients. That is the price she pays for her failure, and the mercy your success gained her.” You stand up looking down at her unapologetic poisoner's face.

“...those exact words?” Shinju asks cautiously, realizing she's committed some kind of faux pas that has angered you. If she's owned up, you might have let her boss slide with no repercussions at all.

“Those exact and emphasized words. Now get the heaven off this island.” She rises silently, placing her fan ~Nowhere~ and quietly goes to rejoin the crowd of humanity. It's exasperating that she wouldn't own up to her tricks, but she is what she is – she probably wouldn't have apologized if she'd done the same thing to Himeyuri either. Stupid, but that's your opinion, not Clan Ryo training speaking.

You try to gather the liquid from the teapot and your cups, but the liquid and the tea it infuses doesn't respond to your power at all. Which is very odd, and a little alarming – if she had flung it at your face you might not have reacted in time to avoid getting splashed with it. That just merits further investigation by someone better at magic and more familiar with youkai than yourself by say, a certain priestess of your acquaintance.

Cleaning up the tea set you bottle the strange liquid and keep the bottle out – it might react badly to being place ~Nowhere~ so you'll take the risk.

[X] Go find the leader of the Ama Divers and let her know Ginka really is okay.

While using the Void to communicate is still distracting, you have an advantage over others – your perfect sense of where you are allows you to go places you've been and avoid most obstacles as long as no one is actively trying to hinder you. You do, however, wait until Shinju in well away; she would definitely try and take advantage of that. Her unapologetic and potentially murderous attitude in the face of what you felt was a fair and even generous effort on your part to make amends with an avowed enemy was rude. It's annoying, but there's only so much you can do about it.

Er Yin-sensei's response is immediate of course. (Ryukusa-sama? Is everyone all right?)

Oh. Yeah. You should have expected that.

[+] We escaped most of the major consequences really.

You sigh softly. (Please remind me to scold Kiku-chan for not keeping you properly updated, Er Yin-sensei. Maybe I'll practice my shibari on her....do you practice kinbaku....ah, sorry, distracted myself. There were two major problems, in that Inau-kun needed surgery and a new friend needed spiritual cleansing; both are being taken care of by experts in the form of Yui-chan, Kiki-hime, and Kiku-chan; Akari is well on the mend after her own fight as well.) She is very relieved by your reassurances. (Most everyone suffered minor injuries, but surprisingly, after facing off against the Fire oni-child Warlord of Clan Ryo, we fared especially well. I did kind of accidentally posses Yui-niji-chan, which was kind of surprising....)

That amuses your Seer and you relax. (You must have had a very serious need to do such a thing.) You agree silently, but don't worry over an explanation immediately.

(We really got away with minor issues, compared to what we were faced with, and I've managed a bit of effort to prevent further such issues from those particular people. All that aside, Er Yin-sensei, there is something I think you do need to know.) You take a deep breath, steeling yourself. (I was asking about dealing with the Mill Pond Demon, and Kiku-chan insisted I speak to Ryuu Nabiki before doing so. I ~think~ I understand why, but, well, there was a confrontation of sorts....) The deep sadness in Er Yin is almost palpable. (Well, needless to say, I found the situation untenable, so I fixed it.)

(Ryukusa-sama, I am very sorry that we could not spare you this pain. The Spirit of Aokigahara is too strong for anyone save one who serves the great kami to deal with it. Hougyoku-chan could not do so without incurring the wrath of the kami, and I simply was unable to do so because of where I was trapped.) Her regrets and sadness are deep and wide and you send her reassurance and warmth. That causes her to pause for a moment. (….what do you mean, you 'fixed this situation?') she asks slowly.

(I used the Wishing Jewel on my onee-chan.) Wow, a mental splutter is pretty freaking strange. (I kind of had to rip her chest open to do it, so I could touch it to a fragment of her Pearl, and I'm pretty sure the ghosts killed me, but she's feeling much better now.) Why did her mind cut out like that? That makes no....oh. Whoops. You probably should-

(KILLED YOU?!)

Your stagger earns you a few curious looks from passers by, but the Japanese tendency to ignore each other saves you from explaining. (Uh, yeah, but I got better. I thought that you knew that Kiki-hime fed me mermaid flesh....C-calm down, Er Yin-s-sensei, it's all right, uh, p-please d-don't shout....)

You struggle under the barrage of explosive rage filtered though the fear of loss in your mind for a few moments before she finally centers herself. The next sending is cool and composed and filled with very sharp edges and promises that you may have earned yourself some time over her lap that will rival anything that Kiku-chan has ever suffered through if you don't make things Perfectly Fucking Clear. (Ryukusa-sama. Please do me the courtesy of explaining exactly what you mean by allowing your wife to feed you supernatural poisons and risking your soul by allowing it to be surrounded by the curses of Aokigahara. Do so in very clear terms.)
>>
>>46908407
That's actually....kind of scary....and kind of hot. (Ah, yes. Well, apparently part of Ame-no-Horobi-no-Mikado's duty is to kill the ningyo princess and birth the new generation of mermaids from her blood. I did part of it, using my claws, and she offered me a piece of her tongue, and Kiki-hime apparently gave me the ability to survive it some how, so I am now an immortal. I spent a lot of time talking to Nabiki, and there were still fragments of her inside the shell that was possessed by Aokigahara, so I thought of what you told me of the wishing Jewel, and I touched it to her Pearl without touching it myself and it restored her entirely.)

Your contrite, apologetic voice seems to mollify your Seer a bit. (We must discuss the ramifications of your risking life and soul so casually at length, Ryukusa-sama. At great length, in private.)

This doesn't make any sense. We talked with Er Yin at length on how we are an Immortal.

It's even her who told us about how some things could still kill us and made a list.

I remember distinctly, we even told her that our family wasn't a weakpoint, but a strength.

She told us about Kiku having a son near this moment.

Is she... deliberatly searching something to punish us?

[X] Apologetically Eagerly Accepting?

(I am really sorry, Er Yin-sensei, please forgive me for not explaining that I had been given Kiki-hime's powers through the flesh of a mermaid before.) It hadn't occurred to you to mention that specifically; Kiki-hime's gift of immortality sounded better coming from her, though it could be that she simply drifted off during the discussion that night on the beach. She was only just beginning to recover at that time. (But I will dutifully and happily accept any punishment you deem necessary for such a terrible breach of etiquette as getting my immortal self killed by ghosts.) You can't help but let the teasing slip into your mental voice, and she can't keep up her stoic, firm stance in the face of your gentle teasing. (Inau-kun was very forthcoming on my weaknesses,) you add as an afterthought.

(Well, if it is Ryukusa-sama, it can't be helped,) she murmurs in half-amused despair. (But really, Ryukusa-sama, your life is valuable. But what you did for Ryuu Nabiki....that was a gift beyond measure. I am not certain what the ramifications of it will be, but if she has mastery over Aokigahara then we may have a much stronger ally than any other. She will also be able to help us with the demons in the city that frightened Yuuhi-chan so badly.) The Iron Shadows – you had forgotten about them. Well, not really, but they weren't high on your list.

(I can contact her five times through ghost magic, but I imagine that she can be called upon in other ways. She's beautiful, by the way. In a barrier she's a true demigod, not like me or Hauko.) Her warm regard is reassuring. (I'll try to be a little more careful, Gin-gin. Please be gentle with me, since it will be my first time.) That makes her laugh in your mind, all forgiven.

(Yes, Ryukusa-sama.) Her presence in your mind fades as you walk into the temple; Yuuhi-chan is at the doorway and smiles brightly at you from her seat on the floor. Ginka is up and sitting with the rest of your family, except for Kiku-chan, who is kneeling before the altar. Everyone else is talking and laughing softly over a meal, though Inau-kun is doing so a little more quietly and being careful in her movements. Akari is also up, though moving a touch more slowly and carefully, given that she has lost none of her strength while convalescing. You've been noticed, but they're patiently waiting for you, though Kiki-hime smiles brilliantly at you (making your heart race), and Ginka smiles and looks down, blushing (odd, that).

You kneel and hug Yuuhi-chan, who embraces you while managing not to clock you with her sword despite the awkward positioning. She sighs happily, seeing you safe and well, though her nose wrinkles a bit. “Dead stuff,” she complains.

“A bit. I'll shower immediately.” You wash yourself and her immediately, and dry yourself and her off just as quickly, leaving her bushy tailed and wide eyed. “See?”

“You're weird, aniki!” You kiss her nose and she giggles, recoiling.

“Yeah....just a little, Yuupi.”

Making us wait another thread to tell Kiku all that's happened, huh? Well, it's rather late so I suppose that makes sense too.

Thank you for reading and playing.

Some questions answered.

>>46909400
It was Inau-kun who explicitly explained the dangers and threats of your immortality, though everyone was present at the camp on the beach when you explained you had become immortal. Bear in mind Er Yin was still recuperating and it was evening.

>>46907101
She has powers over ghosts, curses and the dead, things which not even priests have very much power over. She can interact with living spirits as well, and can also deal with curses, which is probably the most potent tool in her arsenal since curses are traditionally nearly or entirely impossible to defeat (c.f. Ringu, Ju-on, Dark Water).

>>46908513
Mermaids speak, but they do so in a manner for use in water, which basically equates to a supersonic scream of tightly packed information that travels for dozens of miles under water. It basically comes across as an ear-piercing screech.

Will Kiku be excited that Ryukusa is getting punished or jealous at the level of "attention" she'll be getting?

Thanks XS for running. How is the photosynthesis training going?
>>
Since I do not work, I'll stay a bit longer to answer some other questions.

>>46909400
>Is she... deliberatly searching something to punish us?

She's stuck in a house with a drunk house-sitter and someone who deliberately set the King of Hell on her own siste'rs trail, and she's been without her beloved for a long time.

No, she just didn't realize excatly how Ryukusa obtained her immortality. Ryukusa may have deliberately glossed over that part - eating sentient flesh is disturbing and there were (relative) children present in the form of Yui, Yuuhi, and Inau-kun. I had to look it up.
>>
>>46909752
>Since I do not work
Why's that, still in recovery modo?
>>
>>46909689
That particular aspect of things might be a bit confusing to her still, despite her experiences with her older sister and Ryukusa.

Oh, my mistake.

That's....an extremely complex situation. On the one hand she is her Master's property and accepts that as natural, but at the same time she literally worships Ryukusa. It will be a peculiar problem for her.

In all truth the actual act of being spanked won't be very fulfilling for Ryukusa, though she'll enjoy her lover's reactions to the scenario and most definitely enjoy the follow up, while Kiku-chan will find it both incredibly erotic and very frightening in that utterly taboo manner that most people reserve for seeing their religious icons sexualized. Which is exactly what would be happening.

Thanks for running, XS. May I ask how Hauko is doing currently? Has the change effected during our fight (suddenly having human eyes) manifested or changed how he approaches things?

There's gonna be a writeup of that right?
>>
>>46910018
Hauko is doing as Ryukusa suggested, and learning at Hinata-hakase's feet, and seeking the other members of his quintet. He actually regrets his actions t this point, but his pride may prevent him from acting on that regret - for now.

An interestign side note: Nabiki does not seem to require that group to possess her power, which may have been a side effect of the Wishing Jewel (and for the players perspective and naughty thoughts., not a beneficial one to Ryukuza).

So, I've been thinking. Shinju promised not to bring our secret up herself, but that technically leaves her free to try to influence Oh into bringing it up.

Also, XS we talked to Jinyuu and Er Yin after talking to Inau-kun about demigods. We discussed the Laying habits of fire dragonettes as well as the Demon poison that Kiki almost got hit with. Er Yin saw that we had become an immortal at this point and clarified that the poison would not affect us when we asked. We said that sashimi shouldn't smile when you take a bite. Er Yin also told us how we can die including the destruction of our 'Heart' i.e. our family. This happened in the "Immortality, egg laying, and the art of war." episode. Maybe she just thought we were a full demigod and missed the reference to sashimi? Anyways we definitely spoke to her specifically about some of the implications of immortality. Rie showed up not long afterwards.
>>
>>46910794
Thank you.

But yes, Er Yin was a little out of it.

That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

It really is a very long tale.
>>
>>46910794
Ryukusa never actually said she ate mermaid flesh, only implied it.
>>
>>46910948
Ya, I know. There is definitely still leeway there for Er Yin to not know about the mermaid flesh. I was mostly pointing all that out because XS's previous clarifications all referenced Er Yin sleeping during some sort of general reveal to the whole family, but we spoke to her specifically about some of the implications. It's not a huge deal.
